"I didn't feed you," Sedge insists to the human. "You stole from me, and therefore owe me a favor. The favor I'm asking of you is to leave!"
The human crosses its arms with a pout. A bit of its densely curly hair droops in front of its face, and it sweeps it away with one hand. "And I told you, I'm not going back. I live here now."
"You can't live here! You're human! You belong, I don't know, inside some kind of metal structure somewhere!" Sedge gestures around to their kitchen, where most of the back wall is taken up by herbs and mushrooms growing directly out of the gaps in the mesh bracing that holds back the soil of the hill, and the stone stove with the brick chimney, and the wicker furniture with silk ribbons woven amidst the woven wood. "You wouldn't be happy here."
"Are you kidding? I love cottagecore! Hell, if you turned me into like, a toad or a cat or a bird or something, that'd be even better!"
Sedge stares at the human in bewilderment. "Are you sick in the head or something? Do I need to take you to someone who can provide you with medical care? Because frankly I don't know the first thing about caring for a human, so even if you don't go back to the human realm, I am definitely the wrong choice for who to stay with."
The human counts off on its fingers. "We need food, which I know you have. We need a place to sleep, preferably somewhere soft with a couple blankets and pillows, though I've fallen asleep on a few school desks so frankly I wouldn't mind a wooden box with some kind of cushion at the bottom. We get lonely pretty easily but also sometimes we just wanna be alone so...I dunno, it's gonna fluctuate. Also we like shiny things. At least, in my case, I like shiny things. Beads, crystals, cool rocks, stuff like that. Oh, and I like going for walks. The valley looked pretty nice while I was hiking here, so if you give me a key to get in and out of the house, I'll probably be outside more often than not."
"You'll just ruin things," Sedge says with a frown. "Humans always ruin things. I've heard about how you hunt animals for fun and light things on fire with your weird oils that burn for weeks at a time. If I let you outside, this valley will be a barren wasteland in a week, I just know it."
"Hey, not all of us are like that," the human says indignantly. "I was an environmentalist, but now I just give up. The human world's problems are too big for me and my anxiety was going nuts. I'm gonna leave all that for people who aren't too tired to get out of bed in the morning because just thinking about what they have to do that day is exhausting. Instead, I'm gonna live here."
"But why here?" Sedge demands, exasperated. "Seriously, why here? There are a dozen other households you could have gone to, but you snuck in here. WHY?"
The human shrugs. "Because you're kinda hot."
Sedge freezes, entirely taken aback. "W-What?"
"You're hot. Attractive? Y'know? Like, pretty much everyone I've seen around here is some kind of pretty, but you're..." The human bites its lip. "Let's just say I'm more than happy to be your...little pet."
There's no answer to that. This human is clearly out of its mind. Sedge can't possibly foist this on someone else. They will simply have to keep the human for a day or two until it regains its senses. Depending on which portal it entered through, the human might have been walking for days in landscapes that are notorious for driving human intruders mad. Sedge slumps their shoulders. "One night," they insist. "Then in the morning we can talk." They shake their head. "Where did you even come from anyway?"
"Tumblr."
You know how people sometimes get a cat by just having a random stray cat with no collar and no chip walk in and sit on the couch like "yo fucknuts I live here now", and the people just go "well fuck, guess I gotta go get a litterbox then."
Now consider: Humans doing that to the fae. Not being captured by the fae folk, not taken against their will but stubbornly walking in to their realm and refusing to leave before one of them agrees to take this damn creature. Faeries telling each other "naww come on, you can't make it leave, it already ate your food. Everyone knows you gotta keep them if you've fed them."
And another faery yells back "I did not fucking feed that thing, it climbed into my pantry and was eating flour straight out of the bag!"

Helloo, I'm new in your blog❤️. Do you write fantasy AU? If you do and if you take requests still, can I ask a fic for V as an angel but caged by Rika and MC as a knight who saves him? I know it is really weird and absurd request and if you don't have time or you don't want to do it feel free to ignore me. Thank you :3
Ahhhh this prompt is so cute!! I’m just imagining V in a human-sized bird cage with rika who likes to taunt him with freedom…
Masterlist | Requests? open
Word Count: 849
A young angel perched, running his fingers through his greyed feathers. He looked down, as some began to wilt and fall away to the floor.
“V, stop plucking your feathers out. Or you’ll be punished,” a voice commanded.
“Yes, Rika,” he replied, lowering his arms to his sides. He looked up pitifully at the bars that constrained him.
“Oh, don’t look so down. You know I rescued you. The world out there is dark and dangerous…Only I can protect you. There’s ruffians and thugs…poison ivy, quicksand, THE PLAGUE, and even large bugs!” Rika shrieked.
“Here it’s safe. Here it’s warm…”
“Here it’s safe. Here it’s warm,” V repeated just as he did the day before and the day before that. In fact, he couldn’t even recall the last time he hadn’t said that.
“I’ll be back soon, my precious,” the woman cooed, shutting the door behind her.
V’s cage was bleak and a bit rusty, with only a mirror, a perch, and small table at the bottom of the cage. Through the bars, the room was a sullen cream colour that needed repainting, a small square window, and a single light fixture. He sighed longingly at the birds who flew past.
“I’m baaaaaaacckkkk,” Rika sang, pushing the door open, “Here, I’ve brought some of my special elixir!” V gagged internally. She poured the teal liquid into a cup, and shoved it down his throat. “The effects only last so long. Disappointing isn’t it?”
V shrugged, turning away.
“Answer me!” Rika shouted, slamming her fist against the cage.
“….I wish…It lasted longer,” V choked out. Rika nodded in satisfaction and leaned back.
“I’ll be back later with some more.”
“Jeez!” a voice lamented, “I thought she’d never leave!”
V flinched, cowering behind his tattered wings. “W-who are you?”
“Aww, you poor angel you,” you sighed. “That bitch.”
V peeked out behind his wings. There stood a powerful person, clad in silver metal.
“I’m [Y/N]. I’m here to rescue you. I’m Charlie’s angel. Usually. Today I guess I’m yours,” you winked. You unsheathed your trusty sword, and with one fell swoop, shattered the bars. “Come. I’ll not hurt you. Now and forever,” you held your left hand out, waiting for the damaged.
Should I risk this? I’m safe and warm with Rika though… What will come after? Is it even worth it?
“Yes, Jihyun Kim, freedom is worth it. Always,” you spoke.
“How?”
You heard soft footsteps padding down the hallway. “It’s now or never.” V nodded, grasping his hand in yours. “Good choice,” you whispered, pushing him up and out of the window. You followed soon after.
“I’m back, my love!” Rika said. Instantly, her eyes turned to flames when she saw the damage and the damaged gone.
“V!” She screamed out. “You’ll PAY for abandoning me! You’ll rue the day!”
You lifted him up bridal style and hoisted him onto your horse.
“C’mon, we’re going to my hideout.” You gave your horse a pat and hoisted yourself up in front of the angel. “Here, hold on to me so you don’t fall off. Are you strong enough for that?”
“I think so,” he mumbled into your back. Not even ten minutes into the journey, you felt his grip loosen.
“V?” No answer. “Huh, so he finally tired himself out. Sleep well.”
Once arriving at the hideout, you gently lifted him back down into your arms and tucked him into bed, not after treating his wounds. You made two bowls of soup and settled down on the couch for yourself.
You pulled out a quill and some parchment and wrote a note.
Sir Jumin Han,
I have found the angel Jihyun Kim, V, and he is resting at my hideout. He is gravely ingured, and I fear that he will die without proper medical care. We are coming to your castle, so please be ready. I hope to leave my place at the break of dawn.
Best Regards,
Knight [Y/N], [L/N].
You called your carrier pigeon and sent him off into the night.
—-
Day broke, and you felt the sun warming your face. You rubbed your eyes to find V staring intesely at you.
“Good morning,” he said.
“H-hello.” you cleared your throat. “Are you ready? We’re leaving soon.”
“Why?”
“You need medical care.”
“My wounds will heal.”
“No, Rika’s elixir stunts the healing properties in your body and makes your wings immovable. We’re going right now, and that’s final.”
V blushed. “Okay.”
