As Rose stands, shattered-fixed-frozen and holding his human-sweaty hand on that blustering beach, the Doctor is suddenly reminded of poetry.
Not of any one specific poem, mind you, but instead of the idea of poetry as a whole: rhyme, meter, repetition and symbolism, all words and silences and spacing trying to express that which is too much to be borne. All art aspires to the condition of music, he remembers, he knows, and poetry comes the closest, a gratifyingly representational element wrapped up in abstraction and inference. A rhetorical bent, a meandering and cutting of thoughts wrapped up in syllabic precision, in artful chaos.
He wonders what the poetry is like in this universe. Different—new—connotations and allusions. Perhaps a bluebird meant despair, a croaking raven upon a bust a harbinger of fortune. A phoenix, death. No stirring ashes here.
As under a green sea he imagines drowning. Physical life as perpetual motion, and his single heart hares towards its conclusion contraction by contraction, his mind a tremulous wisp constantly reforming itself in the stream of blood and sense impressions. His sense of time, of potentiality, the complex biology of a being capable of experiencing and witnessing and manipulating the block universe—oh, it’s all there, the shutter-slides of possible moments one after the other clicking past like a child’s image viewer.
Rose's eyes are wet and luminous in the afternoon sun, staring at the disappearing indented square where the TARDIS had parked in the sand, and when she finally looks at him, he is trapped in her gaze like a failing satellite in a deprecating orbit.
Poetry. He’s never been good with words, gob notwithstanding. Couldn’t ever get the right ones out when it’d mattered most, couldn’t see the… the… not effect, not point, but necessity of something so intangibly small and terrifying as I love you. His people hadn’t had a term for it, in the end. They hadn’t had poetry, either, not in the way that the others in the universe had in more-than-equal measure. They’d had art in the most rigid and elegant of representations, with love and brilliance and joy expressed through equation instead of emotion, and even then so repressed and turned down to a low, bare simmer that it paled in comparison to the lightning-fast boil of humanity.
It’s what’d drawn him to them in the first place. That potential, that passion. That poetry, that intervallic and linguistic playfulness, from the tight-structured villanelles to the Modernist explosion, of faces in a crowd to lost watches to shared oranges to an old pond all wrapped in heavy symbolism and interpretation; but always, the common fellow-feeling. That one can read through and see another and the self in words, individuals bound together by the great weavings of the human experience.
He can see himself mirrored in Rose’s eyes, and he half-hates the image he can see there. So he pushes past, looks at her: a thinner face, lighter makeup, a tense, straight set to her shoulders under her leather jacket—and oh, how he wants to hold the rounds of those shoulders in his hands, to pull them from their flexion and gentle them until they’re soft against him. He thinks of the bare skin of her, under his hands—

He tilts his head. Thinks of recitations he could give to her, arcing words of beauty he knows he could never really deliver correctly. Thinks of—no, knows, his time senses and potentialities flickering back in at his bequest—growing old with her, grey and withered, and that self-same shudder at the rasp of skin on skin, of a growing TARDIS and comfortable mornings wrapped up in each other, house-rattling arguments, a child wild with laughter at a birthday cake, paired golden rings growing dull and scratched with time and adventure and love and death—
Gently, he steps finally, fully into her space, and his free hand cups her jaw.
“Oh, Rose Tyler,” he says, resting his forehead against hers. Their breaths mingle and he can hear the blood rushing through his veins, pounding in his ears. “I meant every word.” For the first time since the golden fire of the time vortex embodied, he presses his lips to hers. Beneath him, she hums, and there is a smile on her lips and tears on her cheeks as she kisses him back.
“Good,” she whispers between breaths. Then she laughs softly as he chases across her cheek with kisses, and he wants to hear that sound forever. No weight of the universe on him now, only the comforting pressure of gravity and fatigue in his bones; only the sweet press of Rose Tyler against his chest.
His heart beats ever on.

Advancedrolfingfortworthdallas Rolf Movement Treatment 2
The amount of attention to detail can be observed and deeply felt with the second movement session. Integrating the spine, pelvis, and legs are the goals of this Rolfing session. Begin by having the client on hands and knees.
The integration of the pelvic girdle and spine is palpable when the articulation of the spinal complex transmissions smoothly from the sacrum to the mid dorsal hinge. With client on the floor, on hands and knees, and the practitioners thumbs are into the laminar groove from L5 to L1 the client can begin to articulate the micro movements of the spine. While forced exhalation engages transverse abdominus, movement happens when that forced exhalation and lumbar flexion is meet with resistance by pushing on T.P's. while client resists and pushes back. This will activate core stability and should be repeated several times for L5-L1.
The core stability is what we are ultimately looking for. The body responds to pain by drawing up and in, using tonic and phasic tissues to stabilize the area. These movement exercises are cultivating a new nervous system potential that is using only what is necessary to stabilize.
The client can lye supine on table with their feet at a 90 degree angle onto a wall or some thing of the like, bringing awareness to the four corners of their feet as well as the whole plantar surface. Awareness of shifts in sensation should be involved all the way up to the sacrum while alternating pressure through the foot in a guided sensory experience. This movement exercise takes the client out of gravity and on their back; this positioning is part of what makes this so profound to the process. The alternating of pressure continues cultivating contra-lateral potentials.
The client can come to standing and walk through gait cycle assessing movement at MDH and how that transmissions up and down to both or neither girdle. The final tool in attempting integration of the legs and pelvis is known as ocular decoupling of limbs of support and is experienced by the client supine while following the range of movement of femur in hip with their peripheral vision. This movement exercise is known to release bound energetic potential in the pelvis and enable a more fluid gait cycle.
When the client stands a new felt sense of integration typically emerges as they walk. The psoas extension and associated toe hinge is usually observed as the client explores the new freedom of contra lateral expression.
This is a great place to end the session. The rest of the group all muttered vague excuses and scrambled away, Becky and Sonnett pausing to give Tierna a thumbs up behind Y/N’s back, Ali mouthing you got this, Alyssa rolled her eyes at the groups antics.
“What are you up to for the day off tomorrow? Alyssa mentioned you might be working in your shop or something,” Tierna started shyly.
“I am! I’m working on something really cool for the team for the end of the season. You can totally come check it out if you can keep it a secret,” Y/N winked, earning a blush from the defender.
“I can definitely keep a secret. I’ll bring lunch?���
“Perfect! It’s a date!”
The loud clap of hands could be heard behind Y/N as Becky and Sonnett high fived.
“Get back to work!” One of the trainers called out, noticing so many of the players not accomplishing anything.
The next day, Y/N was already gone that morning, having gone home the night before for the day off.
Tierna nervously picked at her plate at breakfast that morning, she would be joining Y/N in her shop in only a couple hours.
“Why are you so nervous? You’ve asked her out before and she’s said yes before.” Alyssa glanced up from her own plate.
“But she has never actually referred to it as a date!”
Alyssa rolled her eyes at the defenders dramatics, going back to her plate.
“It’s going to be fine T, take some lunch, chill out with her while she works, tell her how hot you think her forearms are,” Ali rubbed a hand on Tierna’s shoulder.
Tierna nodded to herself, continuing to push the food around on her plate.
“Do you think she thinks it’s a date?” Tierna glanced shyly at the other defender.
Ali stopped her ministrations and squeezed her shoulder, encouraging Tierna to look up and make eye contact.
“If she doesn’t, this is the perfect opportunity to make your intentions clear.”
“Yea that’s true. I’m just starting to think she doesn’t feel the same way. We’ve gone out a few times, but she never seems into it or like she is just too nice to say no.”
A couple hours later, Tierna approached the open shop door, hearing the banging of metal.
Entering, she paused. Y/N’s back was to the shop door, her t-shirt was tight across her shoulder, the flexion of her muscles apparent, jeans fitted and dirty. Tierna swallowed, this was going to be a long lunch, and this was just what she could see from behind.
Waiting for an appropriate pause in Y/N’s work, she knocked loudly on the door. If Tierna felt overwhelmed from seeing Y/N from behind, the front made her speechless. The t-shirt was stretched on her biceps, veins popping in her forearms while they gripped her tools. Sweat apparent on her forehead and forearms, causing the soot and dirt to smear across the uncovered flesh.
“Hey! You came!” Y/N turned around, smiling at the defender.
Tierna opened and closed her mouth a few times, too stunned at the very attractive appearance of the forward. Y/N cocked her head to the side at the hesitation.
“Hey! Of course I came, you said it was a date,” Tierna shook her head and gave her a wink, holding up the bag of sandwiches she brought with her. “Brought lunch.
“Perfect, I’m starving. Just let me wash up.”
Tierna set the bag down on the cleanest portion of the work bench she could find, then wandered around the small shop.
“Sorry, not the cleanest place to work,” Y/N apologized as she walked back in.
“This stuff is all so cool,” Tierna looked back up to the forward.
“Thanks, why don’t we eat and I can show you what I was working on.”
Y/N grabbed a clean rag, wiping down the work bench, pulling a chair out for Tierna to sit down. Tierna brushed past Y/N, gently squeezing her arm in thanks as she sat down. Tierna began pulling out sandwiches, handing one off to Y/N before opening her own.
“Ahh you remembered extra pickles!” Y/N gave the defender a big smile, dirt still smeared on her face.
“Of course I remembered you weirdo, you put them on everything,” she teased.
The pair talked about everything, teasing and bantering, Tierna asking about all the tools within her eye site, Y/N eagerly telling her all about them and what they did. As soon as she finished eating, Y/N hopped up and turning the heat back up on her forge, gathering a few of the extra tools.
“Wanna try a little bit?”
“Absolutley!” Tierna took the leather apron handed to her.
Y/N set up Teirna in front of the anvil, bringing out a heated piece of metal and placing it on top. Pressing a hammer and chisel into her hands.
“I’ll hold it with the tongs, you,” Y/N guided one of Tierna’s hand with a chisel, “hold it here like this,” she adjusted it how she needed it, “and this one,” she shifted the other hand with a hammer, “strikes here.”
Y/N used one hand to firmly hold the metal in place while guiding the hand with the hammer to strike the metal.
“What are we making?” Teirna asked without taking her eyes off their hands.
“Rings,” Y/N replied, shifting to readjust the brunettes hands.
Tierna’s hands stopped, “how is this going to turn into rings?”
Y/N took over before the metal cooled too much to work with. Once satisfied it was alright to leave it, she pulled away, taking the tools from Tierna’s hands.
“Come look!” Y/N tugged Tierna over to another bench, pulling out a small case.
Tierna took the box, opening and gasped.
“You made all these?” she gently shifted the rings, looking at all of them.
Y/N nodded shyly, “I made them for the team for after the Olympics. Kind of cheesy I know, just a little thing for how hard everyone has worked this year.
“These are so good!” Tierna reassured, “they’re all different.”
“Yea I made one for each one, tried to make them all personal.”
“Which one is mine?”
Y/N took the box and placed it back on the work bench, pulling one out and holding it up.
Tierna gasped again; the ring was gorgeous.
“This is amazing!”
Y/N blushed at the praise. Tierna slid the ring on, then gently grasped Y/N hand with one hand, the other gripping the opposite elbow.
“I like you Y/N.”
“I like you too T,” Y/N cocked her head to side at the change in topic.
“No, I like you as more than a friend Y/N.”
“Well that’s good, or this would have been very awkward,” Y/N chuckled.
“What?” Now the defender was confused.
“I don’t normally date people I don’t like and I kind of assumed you didn’t either.
“What?”
Y/N laughed and stepped into Tiernas space.
“I’m going to kiss you now T.”
Y/N placed a hand behind Tiernas head, pulling her in for a gentle kiss.
The kiss remained gentle, Tierna pulled away, leaving her hands on Y/N’s arms.
“Wait, you knew I had asked you out?”
“Of course did? What did you think had been happening for the last couple weeks?” Y/N laughed again.
Tierna pulled away more and shook her head with a chuckle. “I thought you were just oblivious to me asking you out.”
“Anyone would be a fool to say no to you,” Y/N pulled her in for another kiss.

Butterfly (Chapter Three)
Pairing/Characters: Bucky Barnes x Reader, Thor Odinson, Wanda Maximoff, Steve Rogers

Summary: Your powers just came in after a glimpse of the future startled you, is anyone who they say they are?

A/N: This IS a shorter chapter, as I’m still suffering from writers block paired with the fact I’m doubting my writing skills. I’m hoping that with pushing myself to write a bit more helps with the writers block that has been stewing in my mind since, like, November.

Thor’s thick, accented words filled your head as you paid close attention to the burly man. The cracking of his knuckles and the tense flexion of his muscles under the zip-up sweatshirt he had on seemed to punctuate the true seriousness of the powers you had abruptly developed. The main points of his firey yet lengthy sermon was that, one; The Casket of Ancient Winters was a cherished relic and a weapon to these ice giants that used it during battles, two; that weapon could send any realm or world into a new ice age, three; all of its past owners were now all dead, and you possessed those powers. That it wasn’t ever suspected that such a thing could happen but when Loki had used it, or attempted to, half of the power descended to Earth and connected you to its icy confines which also awoken the powers that sat dormant. Shock bit at the blood that currently pumped through your body, the possibility of being a weapon those in NINE different realms ached over worried you especially since you truly had no idea who to trust now. All that was known was that the Asgardian was not his brother and that he wanted to protect you. He seemed oddly determined to keep you safe, to make sure that you weren’t going to be taken advantage of. Well, maybe he was just concerned for the powers of the Ancient Winters that lay beneath your skin.
“Do not worry Little Storm, I know there is more than just the powers of the Ancient Winters that lay within you.” Thor’s voice broke the silence that was created, the anxiety in the room thick as your teeth tugged at your nails in a nervous habit. “Tony has a scan for you to take later on with Vision and Doctor Banner, it’s something that seems very, VERY, intimidating when I say it like this but it really isn’t. It’s actually painless minus for the blood sample they’ll have to take. They just want to figure out all of what your powers may hold.” Wanda noted, her hand cupping your shoulder sent a relaxing wave over you before you finally found the courage to speak. “So, my biggest question is why are we on the field? Just for me to get some fresh air?” The obliviousness that rested at your mind was hilarious to the two that stopped besides you, causing you to truly take in the situation. If you had paid an ounce of attention you would have noticed the fact that Thor was wearing relaxed workout gear whilst Wanda adorned something akin to stylish protective gear. “Oh no. No no no. I am NOT fighting the God of Thunder. You just told us the item that is the flame behind the majority of my powers can cause a fucking ICE AGE! I’m NOT going to test any of my powers on either of you.” With a huff, you crossed your arms across your chest while the two chuckled.
“We are not making you use the frost on us, Little Storm. Red Witch and I want to know the extent of your powers and how controlled they are, or rather, uncontrolled. Now, focus.” Thor’s calloused hands cupped your shoulders, correcting your stance to a sturdy one so you would not lose your footing nor balance if anything was to shoot off. “This is how I used to gain control when I came here,” Wanda guided you with her gaze, instructing you to close your eyes and feel your center, “I would breathe, focus on my surroundings. Rather than focus on the noises of my mind, I focused on the noisy details of true nature.” Her calming voice as well the surprisingly helpful advice truly did help you center yourself. In fact, her notes to take in and listen to the nature helped all too well. The sounds of water molecules dripping into a tiny puddle from a freshly hydrated part of the gardens perked the hairs on the back of your neck. As suddenly as the noise of the water appeared to you, a ball of water formed at your hands in an orb. With eyes snapped open, amazement stilled you three before a smile overcame your face. “Now try to be gentle with it. Feel its energy, its purpose. Do what you need with it.” ---- Watching from the living room windows above, Bucky’s blue eyes trained on you while the orb of water traveled between your hands. To say he was shocked was a simple understatement, his metal fist slack for the first time since you’ve arrived. Seeing the relaxed state you were in as you toyed with the elements of the earth, the reality hit him hard that you’re no longer a mission, not a tagline he has to write down. Rather, now, you were his coworker. You were his equal on the level of bein a high stakes ‘Avenger.’ Suddenly everything shifted, if he were to act as he was already acting around you in front of everyone else, he knew that not only Sam, but Stark and Steve would be up his ass as well. With a groan, he didn’t want to build walls and act like an ass to the one person who wasn’t Steve that he let get so close. “Fuck” was all that tumbled from the long-haired man’s mouth before he jumped back. A ball of water splashed right at the window and in his shock he stumbled back with a shocked yell, scowling down at Wanda, Thor, and you. Yet, the playfully steeled frown with furrowed brows and crossed arms didn’t last long as he saw the joy you exuded. He could just imagine your laugh entwined with the larger man’s and the Sokovian woman’s, lighting up anyone’s day as it filled their ears with joy. “Bucky, you can stop watching over her. She’s safe.” The deep voice of his childhood friend filled Bucky’s presence, causing his spine to oddly snap straight rather than relax, like he was caught in the act of a crime.
“I know, Steve. Just making sure that they’re not goin’ too hard on her.” His Brooklyn accent never seemed to fade even as he was subdued into the soldier, though in reality, the soldier was the tail end of his coin. A side that he doesn’t want anyone to see ever again. Especially not you.

Humans Are Space Orcs, “The Parasite.”
Get ready for some more angst in the current arc my friends :)
The light in the medical bay was dim tinted blue. All of the patients were asleep, the curtains were drawn. Light glinted gently on the metal implements, metal tables,
And the metal exoskeleton riveted to the Commander’s back
Dr. Krill, Sunny and the ex admiral stood over hospital bed staring down at the figure who lay, unmoving, face down against the sheets. He looked eerie, almost ghostlike in the blue light
“Perhaps you…. Made a mistake.”
“I don’t make mistakes.”
Sunny ignored the two and their conversation stepping up to the edge of the bed and placing her hand against his shoulder. It felt wrong, metal pressing against her hand, a poor substitute for real human warmth. His skin, blue in the overhead light was cold and damp with sweat. Where the spine of the machine was riveted onto his back, she could see rings of inflamed skin puckering up around the casings.
The machine bore down on him, like a parasitic infection sinking it’s way into his body, an alien monster intent on consuming him from the outside working in. In contrast to his pallid skin, the creature was a black mass of metal bone and silver joints.
“Shouldn’t he have woken up by now?” Someone wondered
“Maybe it's best ...if he doesn't.”
Sunny turned, glowering down at the ex admiral golden eyes smoldering with anger. He closed his mouth and looked away shuffling his feet against the ground.
“You might want to at least block him off from the rest of the room. If he wakes up… well…. We don’t want the other patients to wake up to that.”
That was at least a fair point, no matter how much Sunny didn’t want to admit it, so she stayed silent allowing them to do their work, as they grabbed the bed, and rolled it out of the room over to the next, vacant ward.
He still did not move, though his pulse was steady.
She sat with the others in silence listening to the beating of the heart monitor, and the quiet whirring over the ship’s overhead ventilation.
The doors at the far end of the room hissed open once or twice to allow in one of the bridge crew giving reports about the battle below.
It seemed as if the suggestions from the advisement team were correct. With conn’s help, they had managed to wheedle their way into the heads of their enemy, an enemy that knew full well it could win, with one single massive charge. They had made their base too close to the Gromm home city for overhead airships to intervene with the impending attack without destroying thousands of the Gromm and their own men in the process.
The more and more they looked, the more and more the commander’s decision seemed to make sense.
Of course there were other exo suits on the market, they were used for heavy infantry and for industrial work in factories carrying large objects.However, The difference was in the wiring, the Steel eye suit was hooked straight onto the spine and nerve endings where other suits only responded to the muscular contractions of the wearer making them bulky, and slow, with a delay time that didn’t allow them for more than big sweeping motions during a battle.
The steel eye suit, not only enhances one’s strength and speed, but it did it on command amplifying the speed until the subject was more than a man and less than human.
Since operation steel eye became known to the scientific community, no one had attempted similar technology since.
And that is why they were here.
Because that suit could be their one salvation.
Sunny was just beginning to drift off to sleep carried downwards on the wings of exhaustion and her own disquieted thoughts when something pulled her up from the dredges of her own exhaustion.
She opened one eye.
Something about the room had changed, but she couldn’t tell what at first.
Everything looked the same. Dr. Krill bustling through the doors on a return visit from his other patients. The Admiral nodding off where he lay on one of the vacant beds. One or two orderlies working to clean up the room to nervous for sleep and waiting on Dr. Krill to release them from their duties.
The overhead fan still whirred softly. A sink turned on and then off.
And the beeping…
Wait?
Hadn’t it been slower before?
Sunny stood from her chair walking over to stand next to Adam where she could see the heart monitor.
57 bpm.
Hmm it had been around there last time, Hadn’t it.
She glanced down at Adam’s sleeping face pressed down against the sheets eyes closed hands resting to his sides.
She glanced back up.
60 bpm
She glanced over at Krill calling his name nervously as she turned to look. The others, hearing the strain in her voice stood to follow, looking over her shoulder.

Krill was close by now checking Adam’s vitals.
Sunny knelt by his side, “Adam, Adam, can you hear me.” At the end of the room, the door hissed open, and she turned around to find Conn floating up behind them looking none the worse for ware despite having spent most of the past day gliding about in the vacuum of space. However, as soon as he stepped through the door, he stopped.

His face contorted into an expression the likes of which Sunny had never seen on a creature before, Immediately turning to flee the room with a silent scream on his face.

Sunny was bent down her hand on Adam’s hand staring at his face, “Adam, Can you hear me?”

The eye snapped open.
Sunny watch in almost paralyzed horror as the bleery murk of confusion morphed rapidly, the small black pinpoint expanding suddenly as the eye widened, and his face screwed up into an expression that would plague her for many years after in the darkness of her own guilty conscience .
And then, he screamed.
Sunny had never heard a creature make a sound like that before, a raw outpouring of emotion that tore through the very fabric of the room shattering the silence into a thousand razor pieces.
His face spasmed, followed by his body, and even as his body moved the machine clicked with him whirring to life with a chattering hiss, like the mandibles of a clattering monster. His back arched and the machine responded throwing his head violently backwards seizing his arms to his chest and his hands into talons. He jerked onto his back so fast, and so powerful that it snapped the railing of the bed in half.
“Adam!”
He was on his back now and his spine arched again so violently that it seemed as if he would snap in half, only his head and legs touching the bed.
“HOLD HIM DOWN!”
Sunny reached out grabbing him by the arms and hips trying to pin him down.
The machine hissed angrily as he screamed again shattering her eardrums, making her head ring.
She was thrown about like a ragdoll slamming into the machines, tearing leads and forcing an explosion of unopened packages across the floor.
“GET A NERVE BLOCK!”
Sunny had him around the middle now trying to control him as his body jerked and spasmed against her. The machine clicked and hissed metal squealing. One of the orderlies was thrown backwards crashing into a table and falling violently to the floor.
Another darted in, and suddenly it stopped.
His body locked up, his eyes, still wide and wild darted back and forth between them though his body was frozen into a contorted abortion of human flesh and machine. Sunny, who had once vowed she would never weep again, found herself on her knees next to him, holding his clawed hand and shaking violently.
She thought she was going to be sick.
“What have I done,” Krill was saying, “I should never have gone through with this. I should have knocked you out and set you across the known galaxy goddammit!” Overhead the blue lights pulsed and flickered, something having smashed it during the row. The orderly lay bleeding on the floor.
Sunny didn’t even feel her own injuries.
“We are taking that thing off. Immediately. You, tend to James, the rest of you get back into the surgical suite and start preparing a room.”
“No.”
The command came as a rasp, so quiet it could barely be heard but strong enough that it was just able to penetrate the silence.
They turned.
Adam lay on his back, lips half parted, body frozen under the nerve block, though his jaw could still move minutely, “No.” He said again.
“Adam… please.”
Sunny was openly weeping now, not in the way humans did of course.
“If…. you don’t listen to me…. I will never… forgive you.” His voice was distant fading in and out.
Krill straightened up lifting his chin high. The Vrul were difficult to read when it came to emotions, but the light quivering of his mouth was almost equivalent to sobbs for the little creature. His voice was quiet, “I would rather do than unforgivable than to watch this a moment longer.” He turned away, “Get the suite prepped.”
There was a slight creaking noise from behind sunny, and then a light pop. She turned just in time to watch the flexion of 100 + pounds of titanium and steel alloy snapping the delicate plastic casing of the nerve block and sending it ricocheting across the room. Adam’s hands balled into fists against the bed frame. Plastic snapped and metal bent.
The man’s teeth were gritted so tight it looked as if they would shatter.
His eyes were closed.
“Please, Adam, no.”
The entire room watched in horrified silence as he sat there trembling against what must have been excruciating pain.
“I… Can ...control… it.” he hissed through his clenched teeth.
Krill rung all four of his hands in agitation, “Adam, you can’t fight like this.”
“I can.” His voice was hoarse his breathing came in shallow gasps dry, tearless sobs against the pain.
The ex admiral remained silent, “there is one way.”
They all turned to look at him, and he turned his head to the still open crate, and the last remaining piece of equipment inside.
“No drugs.” Adam spat
“You won’t be able to walk without them.” The man said quietly
“Nerve…. Block.” He moaned
Someone scrambled to find another, and once it was on the man relaxed marginally and through a paralyzed jaw was able to say, “Prepare a strike team, we go in quick, and fast, all the delta units we have…. Me…. at the front. I will be…. Fast enough…. To hold them off ...” Eve with the nerve block his body was shaking. His speech was barely intelligible.
“No.” Krill said emphatically
“You can’t stop me….. So you either…. Help me…. Or you get out of my way”
Sunny didn’t know what to say. There was nothing she could say at this moment that would take away the immense amount of pain. She didn’t know that your very being could hurt, but she was figuring it out now.
She had only broken for one minute, but that one minute had been enough to tell her all she needed to know.
“Get me down there, now.”
*** She wasn’t entirely sure why none of them had stopped him. She was sure there were ways though she couldn't think of any, now, there she was in the back of the shuttle cradled in darkness as they headed towards battle.
ONce upon a time she would have been gleeful for the chance.
But now, she felt only nothingness.
Adam lay on his back beside her eyes closed mouth moving slowly as if speaking to himself, but perhaps counting the minutes trying to keep his mind away from the pain..
She couldn't bear to watch it.
So instead she walked over, slowly dragging him into her arms, the lower around his waist, and the upper around his chest. His body rested heavily against hers, metal pressing into her skin.
His head lolled against her throat, just under her chin. His skin was hot and damp, his hair a matted mess. His breath came hot and fast against the underside of her jaw. She held him closer, hoping, somehow this would help.
Help him, help her, she didn’t know.
But hopefully it would help someone

Greetings, all~! Here is my next entry for the @bnhabookclub’s Bingo Event, for the prompt “First Aid”! Kacchako stans, come get y’all food! \^u^/
Thundering howls of laughter rumbled from Katsuki’s throat as his gauntleted fist crashed through the solid boulder, sending pebbles and baseball-sized rocks sailing in every direction. Steam billowed from the magma seeping from the ultra-hot stone he had essentially liquified with the power of his explosion; the wispy white smoke kissed his sweaty, flushed face and tickled his tousled blonde locks before disappearing into the air. He yanked his fist from the crumbled rock, flexing his fingers experimentally, and hissed at the stinging pain that bloomed across his palm.
What had been the flame-retardant leather devised by the Support Course was now nothing more than a few tattered scraps barely clinging together. Dammit. Now I’ll have to submit for an upgrade. Who knows how long that crap’ll take? He scowled and shook his hand in the air. The bright pink skin wailed at the contact with the rushing wind, sending tendrils of fiery pain jolting up his arm and even into the junction of his shoulder. Katsuki ignored the sharp tingle, stepping over the destroyed piles of rocks to pick his way back down the slope to the floor of the gym.
“Wow, Bakugo!” Eijirou’s ruby eyes glittered in admiration. “You made short work of those boulders! Even in Unbreakable Mode, it took me a few hits!”
“Of course I did, dumbass,” Katsuki snorted and snatched his water bottle from the floor. He winced; in his lack of thought, he had grabbed the plastic container with his dominant hand- the burned one. The condensation littering the cold surface seeped into the singed flesh, making the raw meat there scream in agony. Katsuki only clenched his teeth and sucked down the water, then tossed the now-empty bottle into the garbage can in the corner.
“All right. You all have been at it for two hours,” Mr. Aizawa frowned while glancing at the screen of his smartphone. The gym echoed with exhausted gasps and reeked with the stench of exertion. “You’re done for the day.” Katsuki flexed his hand again, scowling as the pain rocketed through his nerves once more.

“Fuck!” Katsuki exclaimed as the water cascaded down onto his wounded palm. He hadn’t anticipated the burn would be so severe. The skin over his fingers and palm bubbled up in several blisters, already filled with fluid though it hadn’t been thirty minutes. The water, though only lukewarm, felt like lava streaming over the injured skin. Katsuki fumbled to wash his body and hair with his non-dominant hand, keeping the burning flesh well away from the shower’s thundering stream. He didn’t even use it to towel himself dry.
“God damn son of a bitch,” he grumbled under his breath as he clumsily fumbled into his sweatpants and a tee-shirt. Why couldn’t it have been his other hand? “Fuckfuckfuck!” he cried as he lost his balance and began hopping around on one foot, his leg half-caught in the thick fabric of the sweats. An angry roar burst from his throat as he slipped in a small puddle of water and fell hard right on his rump. His tailbone wailed protest, spasming the muscles in his lower back, and he unleashed every curse in the dictionary and then some as he writhed on the damp bathroom floor. The skin of his palm pulsed with its own heartbeat, sending fireworks of pain up his arm with every drum. “Fuck me.”
Somehow, he managed to get his clothes on, finally. However, now on top of the burn, his lower back was aching something terrible. He limped into the common room, ignoring the content chattering of his classmates on the sofas to instead hobble into the kitchen. He winced at the stretch as he reached up to begin rifling through cabinets for painkillers and burn cream. He was too invested in his search to see Ochako meander into the kitchen to pour herself a glass of milk.
“Oh, Katsuki!”
“Jesus Christ-! Fuck, shit, fuck, damn it, ahh!” he cursed as he jumped and slammed his burned palm on the underside of the counter. Holding his wrist, he leaned over the granite and wheezed out an exaggerated whine. “What?!” he snarled as the girl scampered over to him.
“Your hand! How did you get such a terrible burn?!” Katsuki ignored the question. Ochako’s brown eyebrows knitted together as she inspected the bubbly flesh of his palm and the clear, sticky liquid oozing from the blister that had just burst. Katsuki clicked his tongue at her simpering piteous expression.
“Stop lookin’ at me like that. I’m fine,” he huffed. He glanced into the cabinet and found that he had been groping around the Silvadene cream the entire time. With a snort, he plucked it from the cabinet and struggled to open it one-handed.
“L-let me!” Ochako insisted and snatched the short, squat bottle of medicine from him. Katsuki turned around to rest his back against the counter, watching with critical red eyes as she quickly removed the lid.
“I didn’t ask for your help, Uraraka.”
“No, you didn’t, but you’re getting it anyway,” she responded coolly, making the corner of his mouth twitch. She slathered a healthy chunk of the goopy liquid onto her first two fingers before gesturing with her chin. “Open up your hand and spread out your fingers.” Though he loathed the fact that he required aid, refusing her now wasn’t worth the energy. Silently, he did as bid. His shoulders twinged with the flexion of his burned fingers. Ochako slopped the bright white cream onto the middle of his palm, and he melted into the countertop with a shaky exhale.
“Fuck, that feels good,” he breathed. Ochako smiled sweetly and began spreading the paste across his palm and up onto the undersides of his fingers. A cooling numb spread over the inflamed cells, quieting the piercing pain that had been pulsing in his hand since training had ended. He watched her careful motions with lidded eyes.
“You should be careful, you know,” she chastised him gently. “Even you have your limits. I know you want to get stronger, but nothing will come of pushing yourself to the point that it’s destructive.” Katsuki clicked his teeth at her, cocking his head to the side in a vain gesture. Ochako only smiled and applied a second layer of burn cream to his hand.
“You’re one to talk, Cheeks. What was that whole business with tryin’ to drop the stadium on my head, ah?” The Sports Festival had been months ago, but Katsuki still remembered their fight vividly. The way her body wobbled and sagged to the side, how she struggled with trembling arms to even bear her own weight, the glaze in her chestnut eyes as she struggled to keep her consciousness… His eyelashes fluttered to banish the illusion of the scene as she spoke.
“I have the authority to speak on it because I’ve been there,” she sighed. She stopped her ministrations to hold Katsuki’s hand up with both her own, Silvadene-coated fingertips smearing the medicine over the top of his hand. “Sometimes… everyone else just seems so great in comparison that it feels like I’ll never catch up. In that fight, I was so desperate to prove that I belong here… but it was destructive. I will grow stronger, but with time and effort, not with leaps and bounds born from destroying my body.” Katsuki’s eyes widened as he looked at her. The truth rang hollowly in him. Begrudged as he was to admit it, she was totally right. She smiled warmly up at him and then flicked him in the forehead.
“Hey,” he warned, and she giggled cutely.
“I don’t need another Deku on my hands! It’s bad enough that he’s broken half the bones in his body before the age of sixteen!” She exhaled deeply and retrieved a swathe of bandages. She unpinned the tan, thick fabric, then gently began rolling it around the palm of his hand. “You’ll get stronger, and I will too. We just both need time.” Katsuki frowned and looked away from her, debating whether or not to acknowledge the fact that she was right out loud.
“… All right, all right, I get your point,” Katsuki admitted after several seconds of silence. Ochako pinned the bandages with a small safety clasp and lowered her hands. The fabric was cumbersome around his hand and wrist, and he couldn’t even close his fist entirely. Still, the pain had been reduced to a dull ache that he could easily ignore with distraction. “Hey,” he said as she turned to retrieve her glass of milk, which still lay untouched on the countertop. When she looked back at him with an inquiring look, he blushed and pawed at his gym shorts, not really sure why he had stopped her.
“I, ugh… Thanks,” Katsuki fumbled and raised his bandaged hand. Ochako blinked at him, taking a moment to realize his gesture of gratitude, before smiling sweetly. Before she could respond, he abruptly grabbed her by the head and pulled her into his chest. She squeaked his name with her hands flapping about, not sure where she should place them.
“Hey,” he said softly. Ochako relaxed, and her hands drifted down to rest on his biceps. “You be careful, too. You think I’m stupid? I see you walking home every day wobbling like a drunk, and you threw up four fucking times at training today.” He felt heat bloom across his pectorals as her face heated up. He dropped his mouth against her hair, inhaling her scent of vanilla shampoo. “You be careful, too, dumbass. Who else is gonna take care of me when I go too far?”
“Hehe, okay,” she acknowledged with an eager nod. She pulled away from Katsuki to beam up at him with those big brown eyes that made his heart melt. Snorting at his sappiness, he lightly pushed her away, but the gesture was laced with affection. “Drink your milk, Cheeks. I’m goin’ to bed.”
“Aw! But we’re playing charades tonight!”
“Now I’m definitely goin’ to bed.” As he whirled on his heel, Ochako scampered up to hug his arm and bat her eyelashes pleadingly at him. Katsuki grimaced, but she grinned victoriously as a rosy haze spread over his cheeks.
“Please, Bakugo? Just a few rounds! You should see Kaminari’s impression of a crab; it’s too funny!”
“Agh, whatever, as long as you stop climbin’ all over me like a spider monkey!” he cried and shook his arm emphatically. She stubbornly clung to him like glue, cackling mischievously. “Come on! Let go!” he whined and pushed on her head. Finally, she relented, releasing him from her grip. “Bah, what am I going to do with you?” he growled and ran a hand through his ash-blond hair.
“Aw, Bakugo, don’t pretend you don’t like me!” she said coyly and stuck out her tongue. She gasped in dismay when he snatched up her glass of milk and drained it to the last drop. “Hey! That was mine!” she pouted and snatched the empty glass from him. Katsuki sneered and wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, eyes glittering playfully.
“That’s what you get for messin’ with me, Cheeks.”
“Ya big meanie!” she snorted, then smiled and nudged him in the ribs. She retrieved the gallon jug from the refrigerator and poured herself another, then skipped to the entryway. “Come on, let’s go!” she insisted and tugged the band of his watch. He allowed her to pull him along by jerking on the device. She smiled radiantly when they entered the common room, greeting their classmates and excitedly scampering over to the sofas to begin the game of charades. Bakugo leaned against the back of the couch, watching her with a tiny smile.
In his mind, Ochako really didn’t need to get stronger. She was plenty strong, but it was not the strength of a physical kind. It was a quiet strength of care and passion. Plenty strong for a reckless dumbass like me, he smirked in amusement. As she clapped happily to Eijirou’s comical rendition of a koala, she caught his eye and smiled warmly.
Plenty strong. Nothin’ frail about her.

A/N: Holy crap, guys, I wrote something that wasn’t smut. “You know what that is? Growth.” Full disclosure, there is no real, actual plan for where I’m going with this series, thing. I’m just here to write shit.

“Geralt, is this really necessary?”
“Yes.”
You eye the dirk in your hand. “I cook with these, I don’t fight with them - I’ll fucking stab myself.”
“And that’s why we’re here – so I can show you how not to fucking stab yourself.”
You glare at him. ‘Here’ happens to be the courtyard behind your tavern. The witcher has been with you for three days, warming your bed and keeping you company – even your regulars have started to get used to him. Well, mostly. At the very least, they’ve graduated from ‘outright hostility’ to ‘passive distrust’.
Baby steps.
Your only problem with Geralt’s extended visitation is the fact that he’s become annoyingly protective. He mostly keeps out of the way, doesn’t expect you to change anything about your daily routine to suit him, but having a very large, somewhat menacing companion at your back takes some getting used to. No, you’re not exactly what most people would term as ‘threatening’, but you’ve managed the damn place for near-on five years. Belligerent drunks are simply a hazard of the job. You have a very particular way of managing people when they get out of hand at your establishment, and while it does work – most of the time, kind of – the previous evening was a wholly different story.

“I think you need to leave, friend!“
How the bastard had managed to get this drunk on your watch was beyond you. You were going to have a talk with the staff about over-serving. Right now, you’re more about getting the sod’s hands off the barmaid – he’s ignoring you in favor of trying to drag the poor girl into his lap. “Hey,” you bark again. “I’m talking to you – “
Your hand grabs his shoulder and yanks. The girl he’s pawing manages to worm free as the drunk reels about with a shout of indignation, “Get yer fuckin’ hands off me, daft bitch!”
You have to laugh at that, “I may be a daft bitch, but I’m the one who’s name is on the lease here. You’re harassing my waitstaff, now get the fuck out.”
The bastard scoffs at you and has the unmitigated gall to turn his back on you; you see red. Somewhere behind you, you here the rumble of your name – Geralt, trying to tell you to stand down. You ignore him, obviously, because who’s going to take you seriously if you can’t deal with one drunken shithead? With an irritated growl, you grab said shithead by the back of the collar.
“That’s it – “
“Get off, you fucking slut!”
CRACK. Your vision flashes white for a second, like a firecracker has gone off next to your face. The impact of the back of the drunk’s hand sends you stumbling into the nearest table, bell thoroughly rung. You manage to catch the end of the table before you go spinning to the floor.
Geralt shouts your name. Behind you, your assailant gloats, “Come on, girlie. More where that came from.”
There’s blood in your mouth. You spit, grimace, and grab the nearest heavy object you can find; one of your solid clay pitchers.
It’s makes a satisfying “thunk” when it cracks the drunk across the face.
“Fuck you, prick,” you gasp.

You’d woken up this morning with an impressive shiner, but that son of a bitch had been dragged off with a shattered jaw, according to the gossip. By your standards, everything had been taken care of, but Geralt didn’t seem to be of the same mind. He’d grumbled something about men and fragile egos - ‘reprisals’, blah blah blah- then hurried you through breakfast, and promptly dragged you out of doors.
So, here you were. Staring at a knife. “Geralt, come on – “
“No, you need to be able to protect yourself – “
“ – I’ve managed just fine for most of my life, thank you very much – “
“You have a black eye – “
“ – and I caved that other guy’s face in!”
“That was a lucky shot and you know it!”
You startle so violently that you almost drop the blade on your foot; you don’t think Geralt’s every actually shouted at you before. He’s glaring at you while a muscle in his jaw ticks and you feel you’re your own temper start to bubble – he can’t just yell at you, and you’ve a mind to rip him a new asshole, because fuck him your goddamn face hurts and you don’t have time for this, but then he’s marching up to you and you give a small grunt of surprise when he grabs you by the shoulders.
“You can’t…” He growls, obviously frustrated, before he continues. “You can’t just hope for the best, sweetheart. You’re tough, and smart, I’ll give you that much, but if someone bigger comes along and decides you’ve got something they want…”
He trails off, lets you go, and paces away. You open your mouth to argue, but then he turns and pins you with those pretty golden eyes – oh.
Oh.
He’s worried.
It’s… unexpected? Yes, that’s the word.
But not unwelcome.
You drop Geralt’s gaze and look at the thin blade in your hand. It’s quite nice, actually – small and light enough to palm against your wrist. Hell, you could probably slide it down the front of your dress, if you ever needed to.
“… So I don’t just jab them with the pointy end?” you finally ask with a weak smile.
The witcher blinks, narrows his eyes, and finally exhales on a chuckle. You tamp down on your smile and do your best to keep your sarcasm in check with he begins instruction. He helps you find the balance point on the dirk, shows you how to hold it underhand, then overhand, followed by a breakdown of how to easily switch your grip.
Next is vital points on human anatomy. You learn that the fastest way to drop a man is to stab him through the neck and let him bleed to death. Stabbing for the heart his more difficult; if your blade glances off a rib, it can get stuck. Same thing with the kidneys in the back – hard to get to, but effective if you can manage it. Geralt shows you on his own torso. You stand in front of him while he guides your hand, keeping the sharp point of the dagger tucked to your wrist and away from his vital parts.
“Aim for the middle, if worse comes to worse,” Geralt tells you. “Stab the bastard and get the fuck out of there – he’s not going to be moving very quickly with a blade in his gut.”
With that, he draws a small-ish knife from his boot and moves to stand beside you. He slowly walks you through defensive stances, watching you like a hawk to correct anything he sees as a potential opening. Each movement is numbered and he has you drill through each one, first in order, and then in random patterns of his choosing. You only realize how long you’ve been at it when your arms start to ache. Tending bar can be hard work, but this is a different sort of practice – you’re a little winded, and a little sweaty, but you grin and shake your head when Geralt asks if you want to stop.
“No,” you tell him. “No, I think I’m getting it. Give me more.”
There’s a fierce kind of pride behind his eyes when he nods. Flipping the grip on his blade, he turns to face you and raises an eyebrow. He attacks with slow, even movements and you counter just as slowly. It’s like dancing. When you stumble or misstep, he stops, and the dance begins again.
You only make it through two sequences, at first, but then it’s three.
Then four.
Then five.
And then you realize that Geralt hasn’t stopped to correct your form in some time. He’s gained speed, as well, and you’re able to keep up. You find yourself watching not just the glint of his blade in the sunlight, but the tension and flexion of his arm, or the way he twists at the waist – all of it gives you a clue as to where he might go next. The dance flows back and forth over the cobblestone courtyard, accompanied by the whispering of your blades when then slide together and deflect. Geralt’s smooth, flowing steps push you back towards a wall, but you find an opening, spinning under his arm and back to the center of the courtyard. The witcher is hot on your heels, sweeping a wide arch that you duck under.
Then Geralt missteps. You swipe forward without thinking and leave a thin line of blood on his forearm. He swears and hops back.
Shit – you drop your blade immediately, let it clatter onto the stones below. “Geralt,” you gasp. “Fuck it, I’m sor – hmph!”
Geralt sweeps you up, careful of his unsheathed weapon, and kisses you quite thoroughly. You’re startled for a moment, but it doesn’t take long for you to relax; you melt into his touch and wind an arm around his neck. When he finally draws back, you’re more than a little breathless, and it’s not just from the training.
“Good,” he murmurs. Honey-gold eyes stare down at you, and he lifts one hand to gently push your sweaty curls away from your face. “You did good, sweetheart.”
You’re only a little sorry when he lets you go and picks up your knife, holding it handle-out for you to take. “Find a place to keep that,” he says lowly. “Your bodice, your boot, your garter – doesn’t matter, long you can reach it without fumbling. Understood?”
You smirk. “Understood,” you confirm.
Geralt gives you one of his almost-smiles, offers you one more brief kiss, and turns back for the tavern. “Just think how good you’ll get when we have you working at this every day,” he calls over his shoulder.
You blanche. Every…
Shit. “Son of a bitch,” you mutter as you follow the witcher inside.

All right, friends and neighbors. Let’s figure out Hordak’s elbows.
So, anon who brought this up: I, personally, don’t see a reason Hordak’s elbows shouldn’t bend. I think that it looks a little iffy because he’s got so little muscle mass, plus the radius and ulna are just kind of hanging out there, plus the ports in his arms; it all looks a bit odd, so I’m going to pull some screenshots out and label a few things for everyone so we all know where each bone is. And also go over what I think those ports are for. Aaaand compare with a diagram of a normal human arm. Okay? Here we go!
Okay, so, first and foremost: circled are the ports in his arms. Lines below them indicate were the elbows should bend. Labeled are his shoulder, humerus, and forearm bones in what I think is the correct orientation, but keep in mind that I’m used to dog/cat/bird/lizard limbs and not human. And also, I can’t tell from this picture what position his hands are in, making it a bit hard for me to see if the arms are rotated. So, take it was a smidgen of salt. Though I think I’m okay; the ulna should be more medial, the radius more lateral.
Continuing forward in this scene, we have Entrapta move his arms into outstretched positions, and we can again see the same ports, same bones. Here is where things look strange because the ports appear to be almost at the inner aspect of the elbow (which might be why his being able to bend there seems odd), but I think that’s just a trick of the art at this moment. In addition, because he’s rotated his hands at the wrists, it’s hard to tell whether or not the ports are on the medial aspects of his arms, or the lateral, or posterior, or anterior. In the previous screen, it’s clear that they’re medial. If we view a moment when his arms are bent at the elbow, we can confirm this and get a better look at where everything is.
As you can see in this screenshot, it’s very clear that Hordak can bend his elbows without port interference, and that said ports sit at the medial aspect of the distal humerus, immediately proximal to the elbow joint. Labeled are the forearm bones and the olecranon, AKA the point of the elbow. This view is unrotated, features bent elbows, and thus allows us to see a more clear anatomical picture than the previous views. The bony anatomy makes sense, and while Hordak is missing what appears to be pretty much every muscle in his forearms, there’s no indication that he is missing the upper arm muscles responsible for elbow flexion and extension, such as the biceps brachii, triceps brachii, and a few others. They are, as far as I can tell, present (though they might be atrophied and not very strong).
Now, the arm ports being at that specific location makes it look as if they’re anchored either at or very near to the medial epicondyle of the humerus. You can feel this part of the humerus yourself: hold your arm out, palm up, and palpate the point of your elbow on the back of your arm. Shift your fingers medially (towards your midline), and you’ll run into a sort of little valley where your ulnar nerve lives (this is what you hit when you hit your funny bone, leading to tingling), and then you’ll find this protuberance of bone right at the end of your humerus. That’s your medial epicondyle, and it’s where many of the flexors of your wrist and forearm originate.
Keep in mind: Hordak can obviously move his hands without his armor, which he probably shouldn’t be able to do with forearm muscles missing. I assume he can do this because of internal cybernetics. The armor he uses on his forearms likely gives him greater strength.
If Hordak uses his arm ports to attach synthetic muscles for stronger wrist flexion, then having them at the location of the medial epicondyle would make anatomical sense.
