Alchemy for potions. Blacksmithing for repairs. Leatherworking and weaving for mending. She is not an artisan, but the basic skills she has picked up over the years have served her well. Self-sufficiency has always been at the forefront of her mind, and she is pleased that she can keep herself afloat when needed. Besides, crafting is relaxing. A hobby or two here and there is good for her mind. —level 90 compendium

Zee’s Must Haves: Ziplocs!
Tumblr media
This is a unpaid, honest post. Enjoy.
Let me get this out of the way. I hate an messy, unorganized home. I can’t stand looking at things piled up together. You know what I love? ZIPLOCS. For me, they are one of the greatest inventions known to mankind. Before I had kids, I used them for only two things: kitchen stuff and traveling. Traveling because you can throw anything there: shampoo, perfumes, makeup, shoes, dirty laundry... You get the picture. But since the moment I had a kid, they became my go-to item that fixes everything.
Does your kid have way too much toys and they get all mixed up? Ziploc them by group, brand or kind of toy. It makes organizing a breeze. I don’t believe in bins. I believe in the magic of a zipper bag. When Mia opens up her toy box, she decides what she’s going to play with by looking at different bags. She knows that at the end of the day, all the toys go back to their little bags. We sing a song, make cleaning up fun and get the house as clean as possible again.
Do you need to send a spare set of clothes for daycare/school but it takes a lot of space inside their bag? Roll the clothes as tightly as you can and Ziploc it. Mia’s spare shirt and pants fit nicely in a sandwich bag. Boom!
Are you tired of opening up Play-Dohs only to find that they dried up? Ziploc them and enjoy at least a month more of playtime until that stuff needs to be thrown away. This also applies to anything related to paints, brushes, etc.
Is your kid an expert on spilling snacks all over? Ziploc them in a sandwich bag. Your chances of spilling will lessen. Trust me, I’ve calculated this like it was a PhD. Every time I give her a snack in its original container, I end up cleaning Cheerios or Goldfish crackers. Ziploc snacks? Not one major spill yet.
Have a lot of kid drawings and not enough fridge space to showcase them? Ziploc them. They will be safe and dry until you decide what you keep and what you simply throw away. Hey, our kids are not Picasso. Some drawings are cool for a while, but you are not a museum. Deal with it.
Have medications to give to your kid at school? Write the instructions on the bag and place the items inside. No errors if it’s written in bold markers and huge!
I can go on and on. I organize blankets and fitted sheets with them. I use them to throw wet bathing suits or toys when coming home from the beach. You cannot imagine how many things you can solve with either a sandwich size or my favorite of all time, the trusted freezer gallon.
Go on, try it out and see what I’m talking about. You’ll thank me later.
