To think the years flied that quickly. Chrom is now thirty and a father of three beautiful children–well, six if you count the future kids. He is a very lucky man and Chrom knows it. He was lucky since day one. He had Emmeryn to guide him when he was inexperienced and rash. She passed away but he was lucky yet again to meet Rebecca and Spartan; these two were and still his supporters. Every day he is thankful to everything he has (and will have.) He fell in despair but found love to ward off his demons. He felt lonely but now he has a big family. How can he not be happy anymore?  True that he still wishes his big sister lived to see this, lived to have her own happiness.
Chrom had ended one of the meetings he had with an ambassador from Plegia to settle down on some business discussion related to the previous taxes and blocked trading routes between Ylisse and Plegia and Plegia with Ferox. It was hectic but thankfully, by the years, he could tell that the new young people who are leading in Plegia are better compared to the old farts who ruled before. They are somewhat open-minded and willing to have a decent conversation. That’s aside, he is glad that this meeting was over before nightfall. True that dusk was slowly creeping but compared to yesterday or before it, this is quite early.
The king left the superficial matters in Frederick’s hands and exited the room to walk down the long corridors back to his chamber. In his way, he stopped to have a look in the garden thinking he might find someone but he didn’t. He only found the gardener who told the king that the princess and the prince were here not long time ago but the Queen came and fetched them since it was getting cold. Chrom smiled and thanked the gardener and turned around to head back to his original destination.
On his way, he assumed he would hear the kids’ voices ringing in the chamber but it was oddly quiet. He also thought he might find at least Lucina waiting to ambush him when he turned the corner where she usually sits to jump attack him. He brushed it off and continued but he was stopped by (older) Thomas whose cheeks were on fire as he was panting. Chrom quickly questioned the young man but he told him he climbed the stairs as quick as he can to catch up with his father. Chrom raised an eyebrow and still questioned what for he did that and Thomas simply hooked his arm to his father’s arm and giddily dragged him to his chamber. Chrom was still confused but he let Thomas guide him because he knew something is most likely planned by him (gosh, he takes after his mother in that department…not that Chrom minds; actually he is very happy to have his kids look more like and act like rebecca.)
Thomas opened the door with his free hand and pulled Chrom in and the first thing he saw (the sliding door was removed thanks to the kids meddling in their room) Rebecca laying on the bed, (older) Maria to one side and the rest of the kids by order, Lucina, (younger) Thomas and (baby Maria) sitting in Rebecca’s lap as she is telling them a story–probably something from her own world. Thomas grinned happily and went to snuggle beside Rebecca on the other side. Chrom stood there for a moment, taking that scene in. It’s….beautiful? Really…there are no words to describe what he is seeing…if only Lucina stayed as well but he can’t force her to stay in here if it brings her pain. He’s at least thankful Thomas and Maria decided to stay until they figure out what they want to do for themselves, just like their big sister.
Rebecca laughed quietly when she saw Chrom standing there, astonished and lost of words. She called his name and told him he should take off his clothes and come snuggle with them because her story is just getting to the plot twist and he’ll miss it. Chrom sighed inwardly, offering a smile back to his wife and did what she suggested. He took off his coat and boots and crawled to the bed but no one was going to offer him a place near Rebecca until Maria huffed and told him to scoot closer where she sat down his lap and told him to stay quiet so mama can continue her story. Chrom obediently did what his daughter told him to do…wait….why he feels like his kids have him wrapped around their fingers? ….Eh. Who cares.
Now that everyone in place, Rebecca giggled patting Maria’s head and thanking her for giving her place for her father. Maria looked up at Chrom and told him that Hunter said that being kind to people will circle back to her, while nodding to confirm her obtained knowledge. Chrom laughed and patted her head and told her that grandfather is right. However, the other children did not like the hold-up and started to fuss up for Rebecca to continue. Rebecca calmed them down and told them to be good kids or she will stop. Everyone went silent and waited for Rebecca to continue. But first, she leaned her body against Chrom’s, tilting her head to the side, stealing a kiss then off she continued her story. Thomas coughed violently telling Rebecca how gross that was and Maria totally missed that because she was playing with Lucina when it happened. Chrom, meanwhile, had his cheeks bright red because naga’s mercy..she did it again. He can never be prepared for her and…honestly…he does not want to be prepared…this is just fine. He loves it the way it is. His left arm wrapped around Rebecca’s shoulders pulling her close when Thomas raised Chrom’s arm and scooted even closer to be part of the hug. A fit of laughter filled the room before it calmed down and soon after Rebecca’s voice was the only voice that was heard as she continued her story.

The years during and after the war were mixed for Rebecca. Like everything in life, there were the ups and the downs. One of the best moments was when Rebecca met her husband Chrom and fell in love. They had three beautiful children as well. Lucina, Thomas, and Maria. They were growing up so fast. There were also the bad times like when the war started. Rebecca was so frightened about losing her husband or any of their children. There was also the end of the war when the UNSC found them after all those years. Rebecca and 197 knew what it would come to and it was very hard to explain to Young Lucina and Young Thomas why grandpa 197 had to leave but he left and it was the first time Rebecca had been separated from her father. Thankfully she had Chrom to help her. Then there was the more recent event when Rebecca tried to find Future Lucina only to find a letter saying that she left. It broke Rebecca’s heart to hear that Future Lucina had left. Even though Future Lucina wasn’t technically her daughter, Rebecca still regarded her as such.
Now a days she has so many more duties than when she was a Marine. Being Ylisse’s queen was a job and a half. She had meetings to attend to, local lords that would always try to have her go behind Chrom’s back an reinstated the old court system, citizens to talk to. There were even formal balls that she had to attend and getting her children ready for them was a task in of itself. Still she couldn’t complain to much. As long as she is with Chrom and their kids, nothing could be better.
Today was a day she thankfully had no royal duties to attend to. So she went exploring the castle to find her family. She knew Chrom would be busy as he was meeting with a Plegian diplomat. It was winter time so she knew that her children would be playing in the garden. Her hunch was right and soon she found her wonderful children throwing snow balls and building snowmen. She called out to them as they had been playing for a while and told them to come inside. She laughed a little as she was met with complaints about wanting to play longer but she said that if they came she would tell them a story and that got them to come inside.
She began to tell the tale of how their grandfather, the tough and stoic Spartan-197, gained the name of Pieman during his basic training. She made them all promise to never call their grandfather that when he visited. She began her story about what her father went through in boot camp. He and the other spartan recruits were doing running drills and other exercises. During one of those running laps, Hunter had felt that something was off. There were people who weren’t suppose to be there. He warned the others that something was wrong and they were soon attacked by these mysterious She paused her story when Thomas got up to leave asking where he was going. He replied that he was going to get Chrom. She gave a nod and watched as he left. In the mean time she talked about what her world looked like compared to Ylisse. The children couldn’t believe what they were hearing about.
When Chrom came into the room, Rebecca’s eyes laid dreamily on her husband. Ten years since they first met and still it was like she had fallen in love all over again. She gave a slight giggle as Chrom stood there and invited him to the bed. Rebecca kindly asked Maria to move and make some room for her father. Once that was done she patted her head and thanked her. The others started to get restless for Rebecca to continue the story about their grandfather. Before she started it again she leaned into to steal a kiss from her beloved husband. Her action gained an exaggerated response from her only son Thomas. She couldn’t help but smile and booped his nose.
“Some day you will find some one you want to kiss.” She said lightheartedly.
The group came in for a hug and laughed. Then Rebecca went to finish her story.
“As Grandpa hunter and the others were under attack, there was a nearby cart of pies that were being delivered for that evenings dinner. With his quick thinking he used the pies to distract the mysterious strangers and soon the other spartan recruits did the same. They held out until the Drill Sargent and other soldiers there could aid them. Thus he earned the name Pieman. The heroic Pieman had saved his squad with the help of some apple and cherry pies.” Rebecca said.
