There should be more villain characters who are honest. I am getting sick of how often villains are like "do/n't do this and I won't hurt your friends" and the main character does/n't do it and the villain hurts their friends anyway
There should be a villain who does as they promised, not tricking the main character by lying that way. They may be evil, but they aren't a liar.
You gotta wonder why main characters even follow the villain's demands at this point, anyone who has seen any media with a villain ever will know that they won't follow through with their requests.
Come on villains, don't be so predictable! Follow through with your promises!
#this is a trope that bothers me so much#it works in some contexts but in others it makes the protagonists seem stupid#the protagonists have proven themselves to be smart yet they fall for this common trick?#I want a villain who follows through with their promises#they may still demand a battle but they won't hurt their friends#Tirek from My Little Pony (G4) sort of does this where he releases Twilight's friends after she gives him her magic#we need more villains like this!#villains#character writing#I have a villain OC who is like this#she willingly admits defeat but isn't afraid of a rematch in the future#and when she admits defeat she will set the people she kidnapped free#since she gets reformed I want her to clearly have some good in her still
