listened to that david tennant clip where he and the host are saying the enormous progress in lgbtq rights is probably the single largest social change they've seen in their lifetime and that it's such immense progress and got to thinking about that. 1) it's very very cool. and 2) i am curious if my mom registers it as "progress" or not. might ask her sometime

#themonster #for clarity she is not homophobic. she's just also not. like. supportive. she's neutral i guess #she hasn't had a problem with me bringing my girlfriends home she just passively wishes i'd have a boyfriend instead #in the same way i think she passively wishes i'd study chemistry and work in a molecular lab #there was that super fun conversation we had last year where she tried to argue that aids happened bc the gays were too promiscuous #and couldn't get themselves under control #but. uh. that is its own thing #anyway since she's kind of passively neutral to slightly negative on these things #i'm curious if she thinks of this social movement towards acceptance as social progress
