My first impression

Sotha Sil: 2920! Now that series was really the domain of the cool women and he sort of slipped under compared to Turala and Rijja, but he still made a strong impression! Mystical guy pressured into getting involved in more politics... but he doesn't mind because he ultimately wants to help people out. very fucking wizard but nice... Jaheira: I had some trouble getting to Friendly Arm Inn but by the time I did I was so relieved to meet her and Khalid. They're a really sweet duo and carried my playthrough. I liked her voice and voice lines, her druid powers, and learning a bit more about the Harpers

My impression now

Sotha Sil: omg. shrug. I think the triunes are interesting characters but kind of overrated (not the most overrated though!) and I didn't think much of his role in eso which is where I saw the most of him. twas an interesting story but he's an ass in eso for better or worse Jaheira: bg3 disrespected some of the legacy characters and just overall story but NOT Jaheira. she's amazing, I love that she's a bit grouchy and jaded now but still with her hopeful heart... I also love her being a deadbeat mother to a gaggle of kids ngl it was funny. I wish I could undo bg2 to her but this game actually made up for it

Favorite thing about that character

Sotha Sil: I like that he's interested in being a teacher than a ruler... kind of typical for both wizards and gods to go over the top but he was doing fine at least until he made his own steampunk dystopia Jaheira: she's old now and occupying that sort of old workaholic badass role, with a lot of dimensions and a sense of humor rather than making her into the rational exasperated older woman friend

Least favorite thing

Sotha Sil: eso clockwork city horrified me. what was he thinking... there's of course the writing intent I also don't know, I'm not sure if the city was meant to be horrifying or cool. probably a mix of both! Jaheira: separating her from her cute husband. just so she could be romanceable in bg2 by killing him off. have some tact please... and I know that the official novelization has the protagonist in a romance with Jaheira lmao how does that go? I'm not really against it but it didn't happen organically so it left a bad writing impression on me

Sotha Sil: I really like all of his interactions with the students, like hmm the flame cloak lesson in Rain's Hand (long to quote it here) Jaheira: I think her interactions with Astarion are really funny. also this one with Karlach from the same list of banters made me smile

Karlach: So, erm, Jaheira. Do you like to... that is, what do you like to do? Jaheira: As in... hobbies? Oh. Well... I like to play music, I suppose? Karlach: I'm just picturing you strumming on a harp so hard the strings snap and trying not to shriek. What do you play? Jaheira: Eh. Mostly the same children's rhyme, on a battered whistle of tin. I do not get a lot of time to practise. Jaheira: Oh spare me the sad eyes, girl! Not every daily deed is worthy of song! Certainly none I can play.

Sotha Sil: other archmages of tes... I think he's kind of an isolated character most of the time I want to see him vs other wizards. I'm actually not a fan of Morrowind's resident wizards so I mean guys from all over the realm like Azra Nightwielder, Galerion, and so on Jaheira: Sarevok and Viconia, in a world where bg3 didn't just fuck them up. I also wish she'd had more interactions with Imoen in bg2 iirc they only have one conversation I could find and it's in Throne...
