ok so details of this are subject to change because i came up with leona on saturday while at work and i need to rewatch the show with her in mind.

that being said, leona is the only child of the current lord redwyne, and the heiress to the arbor. her parents had been trying for children for many years before she was born, so they're a very close knit family.

i headcannon alicent's mother as a redwyne (leona's father's cousin) so leona is invited to court to be helaena's companion in her early teens and grows up as one of the greens. she has a long standing crush on aemond that she keeps a secret until after their wedding.

as she grows up she engages herself more in court politics. she essentially becomes house redwyne's representative at court and considers it her role to make the most out of her position in the royal household for her family's benefit. despite her primary loyalty being to her house, she's a very strong supporter of the greens and is the main reason that the redwynes and their fleet join the dance.

in her later teens she is betrothed to aemond. as he's a second son and she's an heiress the agreement is that their children will be redwynes rather than targaryens. while leona is initially very happy with her betrothal, aemond is not pleased that he's being expected to give up his family name. this causes a period of animosity between them that lasts up until their wedding night that involves far more arguing than sex, but they do begin to reconcile their differences and slowly fall in love.

after aemond takes harrenhall, leona joins him and meets alys rivers, who the pair begin a relationship with. leona considers alys to be both her and aemond's wife.

leona is capable of being a very sensible and diplomatic person, but in her close relationships she's very affectionate and somewhat spoiled. she's incredibly loyal and has a very sharp temper, making her slow to forgive her enemies and quick to ignore the wrongdoings of her loved ones. she is aemond's fiercest supporter, despite everything that happens during the dance, and after he dies she refuses to remarry, declaring that he is her only husband and the child they concieved is her only heir.
