Does my muse like Valentine’s Day?

“Do I l-like Valentione’s day?”  Sighs before giving a small shake of his head in the negative.  “No.. not r-really.. But.. that could be because I have n-never had a good experience with it?  Nor recall it being of much importance before I started seeing people.”  Lowers his ears, his gaze following suit.  “It just is.. Kind of a c-crappy day for me.”

((It was close to Valentione’s day when he was dumped by the person he had been with, and before that, it has always been a holiday that had been ignored by his lover before from before.  It doesn���t mean Shane is not curious about it, having seen the happy couples on that day. It just holds some painful memories for him that he will likely get over in time thanks to a certain Seeker named A’azyi. Thank you for the ask!!))

Star Shards and Spriggans – 01/06

The Draffthouse Barons received their first job of the new year courtesy of an Ossuary contact and regular co-conspirator; Lux Lunseer. According to Lux a meteorite had broken up and scattered pieces of aetherically-active crystal in the Central Shroud. She explained how to find the shards and what to do once they had been found but she didn’t explain why it was she didn’t just go gather them up herself…

 The shards were affecting the local wildlife, namely Spriggans. These normally docile creatures were aggressive towards group but smaller groups of one to two didn’t seem to incur their wrath. After being bum-rushed by soot sprites the Barons decided it would be best to venture into the impact crater in pairs. They would search the area while Lux pinged aether off of the meteorite and relayed the sound to let them know if they were hot or cold on the trail. The sound of pinging aether sounded suspiciously like chocobo kweh’s.

 First to hunt was Shane, who found the star shard guarded by a Spriggan who didn’t want to just hand it over. Rather than fight for it Shane quickly hurried off to find an appropriate replacement and the two traded crystals, resolving the issue without having to draw a weapon.

 Next up went Nonope. Her shard was clutched tightly in the twiggy little claws of a Spriggan who wailed miserably at all who approached it. After some careful investigation Nonope determined that it was lonely. Rather than take the Spriggan’s sole possession Nonope offered a trade of a thaumaturgy focus and her friendship. Overjoyed, the Spriggan immediately followed Nonope and was soon brought into the gang as Yesyes Yes.

 The final shard was sought by Nananomi, Nonope’s brother. As we were beginning to suspect his shard was also guarded by a Spriggan who seemed more interested in wooing the lalafel than trading trinkets. It was interested in a friendship of a /different/ kind. It performed a beautiful mating dance, much to Nananomi’s horror. The lalafell had no choice but to dance in return, performing the Manderville flawlessly. Struck by the beauty of Nomi’s dance the Spriggan offered the shard as a sign of their engagement and Nananomi set a land-speed record sprinting right the hells out of that cavern. He spent the rest of the evening staring into the Void and rocking slowly back and forth.

The mission was a success, with four shards successfully recovered [though only three were turned in for the rewards] and no casualties were suffered. Save for Nananomi’s mental health.

A startled look would cross Shane’s face as the question sunk in, the freckled Miqo’te shyly glancing downwards.  “Oh, well um… Wo-would I ever get married?” Closing his eyes for a moment, he hugged his knees to his chest.  “If you had asked me a few moons ago my answer wo-would have been no.  Yet now?”  Motioning downward, his voice dropped to a quiet whisper.  “I thought that it was something I would ne-never want again after my ex-fiance left me but now it is something I find myself thinking about.  Now it would not happen for a long wh-while if it did at all, but honestly?  It is something I think I would want sometime down th-the road..”

((The thought of marriage, engagements, and anything attached to it left a sour taste in Shane’s mouth after his last relationship.  Yet now he has started to think more in that direction, or at least considered it something he would like to happen eventually now that he is in a relationship with someone who he is finding himself growing more and more attached to.  Thank you for the ask Kite!))

“How do I s-say I love you wi-without saying it?  Oh um… Well..”  Sinking into his poncho further he glanced to the side as a shy smile crossed his face.  “Saying it is re-really scary but I do like to do little things for the person I love.  I like to m-make them feel like… They a-a-are the most important person.”  

That shyness started to fade as his expression gentled.  “Small touches… Just laying with him as he f-falls asleep and holding him, making his favorite meals and small snacks… There are lots of ways and–”  Coughs before sitting up and waving his hands slightly.  “I um could t-talk about this all day but I wo-would rather not bore you.”((Shane often times felt unloved in his own relationships and in turn he doesn’t want the person he loves to feel the same way he felt, ever.   So he always finds ways to show A’ayzi small ways he cares.  Compliments, small gifts, and meals as well as playfully teasing the older Miqo’te … Also doing his absolute best to make the Seeker proud of him.  Including sitting toiling over dusty old tomes, studying runes.  The freckled Keeper desperately wants to tell A’ayzi how he feels but for now… He will just do his best to show the man his feelings.  Thank you for the ask!!))

“N-no! I have not um.. Sl-slept with anyone in a public place-”  Simply hides his face in his sleeves as he mumbles, hiding the brilliant scarlet color his face was turning before finally peeking up from one of those oversized poncho sleeves. “It.. it has al-always been in a private place where I’ve….” Just trails off with more stammered murmurs before sinking into his poncho in an attempt to hide away from the question.

((Shane typically gets rather flustered out in public places when with someone he likes, that doesn’t mean it -won’t- happen but given him and his partner’s personalities it is very unlikely to happen without a good abundance of booze or something else involved.  Thank you for the ask!!))

➥ What is your character’s full name?: Shane Ma’iitsoh

➥ Do they have any brothers or sisters?: No known siblings.

➥ What kind of eyes do they have?: Bright cerulean in color, though the right is faded due to being blinded in it.   

➥ What kind of hair do they have?: Shortish, brunette and slightly curled.  Well-kempt, soft and clean with a good deal of it hanging in his face over his blind eye.  Usually smells of mint.

➥ What is their complexion like?: Pale and freckled though he often times has a blush on his cheeks.

➥ What body type are they?: Shane is rather short.  Small and slender in size, he is just a little cat. >_>

➥ What is listening to their voice like?: Though he has a bad stutter and his speech is often littered with pauses his voice tends to be gentle and light.  Incredibly soft-spoken there is the occasional hint of an accent if he gets tired or very upset.. Though due to the nature of his voice and speech yelling is usually difficult and he tends to go unheard. (No voice claim yet)

➥ What do they hate most about themselves?: Shane is full of self-doubt and he tends to not be a huge fan of himself.  Though it is his fear that he hates the most.  There are many things that scare him (loss being #1) that it oftentimes affects his way of thinking and the things he does.

➥ Do they have a favorite quote?:   “It does not matter which way you choose, just know that both will lead to a new adventure.”

➥ What sort of music do they enjoy?: Music has never been a big thing of Shane’s, but when he does listen to it he loves fast and upbeat music.  A rowdy drinking song like the ones often sung by sailors and mercs tend to be his favorite just due to the energy behind them.

➥ Have/would they ever cheat(ed) on a partner?: If he ever found someone to love again it would not happen.  He has been cheated on numerous times and each time was incredibly painful.. He would not want to do that to someone else.

➥ Have they been cheated on by a partner?: Yes.  Several times by the last two people he was with.

➥ Have they ever lost someone close to them?: Yes. He has lost several friends and most recently the person he thought he’d spend his life with left him.  It seems that people he cares about are often stepping out of his life.  (Which has attributed to his low self-esteem.)

➥ What is their favorite sound?:  The sound of people, laughing, talking and generally being happy are his favorite though the sounds of waterfalls and rivers tend to be a very very close second.

➥ Are they judgmental of others?: Shane tends to remain fairly neutral when it comes to judging people.  Believing (sometimes naively) that there are always reasons for people to act the way they do, that they all have a story to share and tell.  

➥ Have they ever been drunk?: Yes.  Mostly when he had started drinking though it usually lands him in trouble.

➥ What are they like when they stay up all night?: Shane tends to oftentimes go without sleep due to bad dreams and overthinking.  Though if he stays up too long it can leave him withdrawn and usually more skittish than normal, often jumping at the slightest thing.

➥ Have they ever been arrested?: Never~

➥ What evokes strong memories for them?:  The scent of moss trees, people yelling in anger and the smell of the ocean.

➥ What do they do on rainy days?: It is rather childish but Shane /loves/ to go outside when it is raining.  He loves the smell of it and the calm that is oftentimes associated with that weather.

➥ What religion are they?: Shane does not really worship any of the Twelve, though if he had to choose he’d say Oschon.

➥ What word or phrase do they overuse the most?: “I see.”

➥ What do they wear to bed?: Typically a very over-sized t-shirt and shorts, though if it is cold he will wear thick flannel sleep pants and a (still over-sized) long-sleeve shirt.

➥ Do they have any tattoos or piercings?: No he does not.

➥ What type of clothing are they most comfortable in?: Most of Shane’s clothes tend to be airy and light.  His tops tend to be way too big for him, often slipping off his shoulders or falling over his hands.  His pants tend to fit more snuggly especially when he is wearing his poncho. (which is usually all the time).

➥ What is their most disliked food?:  Shane really really hates Mushrooms and even though he cooks a lot he tends to avoid any dishes with it included.  (Though if it is he will politely eat them or push them to the side depending on if he is close to the person who made the food.)

➥ Do they have any enemies?: As far as he is aware, Shane has no known enemies at least any that are his own.  Though the people he tends to get close to seem to have enough to go around.  He is typically guilty by association.

➥ What does their writing look like?: Shane’s writing tends to be very loopy and neat, he was taught penmanship at a young age.

➥ What disgusts them?:  People who go out of their way to hurt and use others.

For those of you wondering and know Shane icly (due to the sudden likes and reblogs of an old comm of Shane and Nhagi ^ ^;;).  They have officially split for good, shortly after that was commissioned as a matter-of-fact.  Just thought I’d clear that up! Though I am super glad that @fayren  ‘s art is getting noticed she is incredibly talented and I still am in love with the comm she did for me!
