LGC FAMILY CON ! from NKND to MZSD

minki had always been excited about the family concert. he remembers being a trainee and admiring the work of the sernios artists in the same company as him who have gone through great lengths and achieved so much in their career. he would often wonder what it would be like, when he's one of those artists on stage—if it's even possible for him, in the future. minki remembers performing with the rest of the trainees, if they're lucky they would be sharing the stage with those senior artists too. of course, those artists are the vocal point, with the trainees being an add-on ( not that he minds ). but the experience itself, was something worthwhile and special. every year, it was.

honestly, to minki, it never gets old. no matter what.

so minki finds it hard to believe that this time, he won't be 'just another trainee', after a few years of going through that cycle every year. it's strange, hearing the announcement he's officially part of a group that will be debuting this year, from NKND to MZSD ( he's still trying to get that group name rolling off his tongue, he'd gotten kind of used to NKND ).

it's when he's performing back down with the rest of his hardworking and energetic team that he realizes—ah, this is real. against all odds, minki is on stage this time, as himself, with his group members who will be with him in the long run. that realization makes him feel strange, positively brimming with what he assumes is adrenaline. makes him want to do his best, even though he always does.

minki gives it his all—he hopes to be able to do that for every stage that he's on after all, he doesn't want to be lacking. he has every intention of making his group shine too, like the rest of the senior artists he always looked up to. one day, MZSD can become part of that beaming light. he's confident, for once in his life, melts into the performance he's putting up along with the rest of his members; they'll make it work.

‘Little Batanes’ of Pangasinan temporarily closed to tourists

#PHnews: ‘Little Batanes’ of Pangasinan temporarily closed to tourists

SUAL, Pangasinan – The Bagbag Beach in Barangay Baybay Norte here, popularly known as the ‘Little Batanes’ of Pangasinan, was closed to tourists or residents from outside of this town.

 In an interview on Monday, Sual chief of police Capt. Fredwin Sernio said checkpoints and inspecting teams have been deployed to ensure tourists will not enter the newest attraction here.

 But Sernio said the beach is still open to residents here.

 He added the closure of the beach was done for the rehabilitation and protection of the area.

 “The beach will reopen once the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) has passed the ordinance, citing the protection of the area and regulations for visitors there,” he said.

 However, the planned ordinance is less likely to be passed this year because of the upcoming holiday break of the SB, he added.

 Mayor Liseldo Calugay issued on Nov. 28 Executive Order (EO) No. 66 that effected immediately the closure to tourists of the Bagbag Beach.

  The tourist site is closed until revoked by Calugay due to the sudden influx of tourists from the different parts of the province, which resulted in the violation of health protocols against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) and proper waste disposal.

 “There is the need to protect and enhance the quality of the municipality’s natural resources,” the EO stated.

 Bagbag beach or the Little Batanes of Pangasinan became popular after it trended on social media. (PNA)

The killing of Trayvon Martin

The killing of Trayvon Martin was one of many that led towards the ‘Black lives matter’ movement in the US and much further around the globe, it was sucked up by the media and the people alike. It had a huge impact and made international headlines, however did not make it out of Florida for some time. Whats the reason why? We’re going to look at the facts and why this case changed views in America, possibly for good. 

The facts 

Trayvon Benjamin Martin, a African-American male, was born on February the 5th 1995, making him 17 years of age. He was a high school student from Miami Gardens located in Florida, USA. His parents  Sybrina and Tracy we’re divorced. George Zimmerman a neighborhood watch officer, 28, patrols the area in which Trayvon’s father lives. 

The time line 

Feb 26th 2012- Trayvon Martin is shot dead in Miami gardens by George Zimmerman, after presenting what George described as ‘suspicious behavior.’ George rang 911 to put in a report on Trayvon, he was described to the 911 operator to be wondering around looking at houses, in a neighborhood where multiple robberies had been carried out. He was said to have been dressed in jeans or sweatpants, a grey hoodie and white trainers. George was instructed to remain in his SUV, however ignored these instructions and followed Trayvon. The 911 call ends with George agreeing to meet officers rather than follow, it was after this phone call ended that Trayvon was shot in what was suggested to be an act of self defense. A second 911 call made by a concerned neighbor was made with reports of someone crying for help and gunshots. 

Now, you would think that in a case like this, a young boy being shot in his local neighborhood, that this would spark an interest, that it would have been publicized outside of local Florida.  

March 6th 2012- Trayvon’s families attorney hires a publicist, the story finally after 10 days breaks out of local Florida as it is picked up by CBS

Trayvons attorney hiring a publicist had a huge impact on how far the story traveled, with out this it most likely would not have left Florida. 

 March 13th -  Christopher Sernio suggests Zimmerman be charged with manslaughter.

March 16th - Authorities release seven 911 calls from the night of the killing, it is heard in these that Zimmerman chooses to ignore the instruction to remain in his car. In a second recording a voice screams "Help, help!" in the background, followed by the sound of a gunshot. 

March  22- A petition on Change.org was created by Trayvons parents, it was backed with 1.3 million signatures. The petition was calling for the arrest of George Zimmerman. Also the first time the case makes the front page of a national newspaper. 

The national news picking up Trayvon’s story help to spread to word, it quickly became backed by the people. They wanted justice for what had happened with out this his case may have not made it as far as it did.

March 23- The president of the United States, Barack Obama, speaks publicly for the first time. He makes suggestions based on racism within the case. “If I had a son he’d look like Trayvon”

March 24- Members from a revolutionary activist group, The New Black Panther Party (NBPP), put out a $10,000 reward for George Zimmerman. 

March 26- rallies take place in many different places all over America; Sanford and Florida are the major ones. It has been exactly one month since Trayvons death.

Both the President and NBPP learnt about Trayvons story through the media and how far his story spread. Obama speaking openly about the possible racial issues within the case would have really sparked an interest for the media and the people alike; this can be shown by NBPP’s reward for ZImmerman. Obama is a trusted influence within America, and as a black male it was personal to him, his speech would have made headlines again pushing this story further into the media. People began taking things into their own hands to try and bring justice where they believe it may be lacking. This is only further supported by the rallies which take place, the people of America and the rest of the world too want justice. 

April 11, 2012 - Zimmerman is charged with second-degree murder. His new lawyer, Mark O'Mara, tells CNN that Zimmerman has turned himself in.

April 23, 2012 - Zimmerman is released on bail at 12:05 a.m.

June 24, 2013 - The trial begins with opening statements.

July 13, 2013 - The six-woman jury finds George Zimmerman not guilty.

Whether you believe justice was or was not served in Trayvons case we cannot deny that this was the beginning of something much bigger. Trayvon’s death brought to light the unquestionable institutional racism that exists throughout America. Although it is still not and may never be proven that this was the case with Trayvons  death, the fact alone that it was brought to light it shows ever dark cloud has a silver lining. The movement and spark this created in the media and through this into society has helped with the black lives matter movement and Trayvons death will never be forgotten.
