It’s the summer of ’85. The summer of chlorine-bleached hair and navy blue shorts. Of red felt tip against white board and molten ice cream on sticky hands. Of unexpected friendships and teenage sorrows, snug-in screenings and bumpy car rides. It’s a cruel summer. It’s the summer Eddie Munson climbs through Steve’s bedroom window. Repeatedly.
It all starts the day of graduation at someone's house. Everyone around Eddie is having the time of their life, getting wasted and high while Eddie throws himself a pity party. And judging by the figure hidden in the corner, arms crossed in front of his chest, pout on his lips Eddie isn't the only one. It's weird seeing King Steve, ruler of parties and champion of kegs stands, awkwardly stand on the sidelines of a party. But then again Steve Harrington hasn't been King Steve for a while. He may have won prom king (at least that's what Eddie has heard, he wouldn't be caught dead at prom) but it's been a hot minute since Steve held his head high, acting like his hair was a crown, his varsity jacket a fur coat and sports trophy his scepter. Not that Eddie has paid much attention to Steve Harrington over the years or anything. Eddie knows that curiosity killed the cat, but cats have nine lives and Eddie can definitely spare one, he thinks as he slowly crosses the room and approaches Steve.
"Penny for your thoughts, joint for your sorrows," Eddie asks and holds out a joint for Steve. Steve's eyes widen in confusion for a second, before the frown on his face turns into a soft smile that's going to haunt Eddie's dreams.
"This a pity smoke, Munson?" he says, nodding towards the joint in Eddie's palm.
"Charity actually," Eddie says, "Looks good on my tax return and all. You know the drill."
The soft smile turns into soft laughter and fuck abort mission, abort mission, Eddie thinks. Pretty boys shouldn't be allowed to laugh like that. But Steve does and it leads to smoking the joint in the back of Eddie's van which somehow leads to a far too vulnerable conversation about expectations and failure, about pressure and loneliness and about how Eddie is the prettiest thing Steve has ever seen. It leads to an unexpected kiss and another and another and another  that leads to an unexpected hook-up.
Eddie thinks Steve is gonna run the next day, act like it never happened, stay away from Eddie. He might not go to college after summer, but Steve is probably going to leave Hawkins sooner or later, so best for him to just forget everything about last night. Only that Steve apparently doesn't want to forget or to run. Instead, he shows up at Eddie's trailer the next day. For a second Eddie is afraid Steve is going to punch him, he doesn't expect to get pulled into another kiss.
It kinda becomes a regular thing during the first few weeks of summer after that. Steve drives to the trailer when Wayne is out and Eddie climbs through Steve's bedroom window regardless of whether Steve's parents are home or not. Just for the fun of it, the summer romance feeling of it, the drama of it all.
It also makes Steve roll his eyes with a fond smile when Eddie stumbles through his window. It's all fun and games until it starts to become a problem. Because Eddie already had harbored a small but not insignificant crush on Steve while they were still in school and Steve was  just the popular jock at the other end of the hallway. But having Steve like this, naked, stripped bare of his clothes and all the pretense he always wore at school like armor? It's life-ruining. Eddie already knows he is not going to start his third try at senior year with his  heart intact.
They are a couple of weeks into whatever this is, when Steve mentions his parents forcing him to get a job at the mall, says they'll have to meet up less, talks about the stupid costume with a dorky hat he has to wear, but says Eddie should come say hi, if he wants to. Steve can get him a free scoop or something.
"Ah yes the real benefit in friends with benefits," Eddie laughs, "free ice cream."
Only that friends with benefits isn't quite accurate. They aren't friends, they aren't dating, they are just repeat hook ups. Eddie tries not to be bitter about this, knows this is already more than he ever thought he could get. Despite his instincts telling him not to go see Steve at Scoops because obviously it was just a stupid joke, Eddie goes. He is glad he does because maybe god is real and the indecently short and tight sailor uniform shorts are his way of trying to make up for all the hardship he has made Eddie suffer through.
Steve is a vision in the uniform especially with the dorky hat he claims to hate so much. Steve beams at Eddie when he sees him.
“You came!”
“And will several more times today now that I have seen you in those shorts,” Eddie whispers and leans on the counter. Steve rolls his eyes but blushes slightly. The same shade of red as the scribbles on the white board behind Steve. “What does the you rule you suck mean?”
“That’s Harrington’s score board with our customers,” Steve’s coworker chimes in. Eddie hadn’t paid much attention to her until now. “As you can see he sucks quite a lot at scoring any phone numbers or dates.”
“Oh,” is all Eddie can say. He is glad he hasn’t tried the ice cream yet because he is sure he is about to throw up. Of course Steve is trying to score. They never said they were exclusive and why would they. Why would Steve want to be with some trailer trash boy for anything more than a little fun. Eddie doesn’t know what’s going to happen first: crying or throwing up. All he knows is that he has to get out of here. But before Eddie can run and berate himself for being so fucking stupid, Steve’s hand closes around his wrist.
“I’m taking my break,” Steve announces loudly and pulls Eddie into the back room.
“It’s not what you think,” Steve hurries to explain as soon as the door falls shut behind them. “It was Robin’s stupid idea. She thought my customer service voice was me trying to strike out. I just wanted to get a tip.”
“So you’re not flirting with your customers?”
“Only metalheads with curly hair and a beat up van,” Steve teases. “Robin just assumed because I got the reputation that I was striking out. And I didn’t bother to correct because it doesn’t really matter and it’s not like I can go around announcing that I have a boyfriend.”
“Boyfriend?” Eddie raises his eyebrows, heart beating in his chest, the word echoing in his mind.
“Well I’d have to ask him first if he wants to be,” Steve grins and puts his hands on Eddie’s hips,  pulling him closer. “I had it all planned out. Romantic dinner, candlelight, Judas Priest playing. Might have to up that though since he apparently had no idea how serious I am about him.”
“You know you could make him a pb&j and he would be wooed. He’d be stupid not to say yes to being your boyfriend,” Eddie says and leans in, lips only inches away from Steve. Even without touching he can feel Steve’s lips twist into a smile.
“Yeah?” Steve asks.
“Yeah,” Eddie says before sealing his promise with a kiss.
Maybe it’s not going to be a cruel summer after all.

Varsity Jacket - CC
Tumblr media
Pairing: Caitlin Clark x Reader
Summary: You and Caitlin keep it light and playful at a game (based on THIS request)
Warnings: fluff
Word Count: 2.4k
Sweetbans Masterlist
AN: Is this not everyones dream?
It's the first time in the state's history of WBB that they decided to play basketball in a football stadium. A piece of history that has been led by one girl allowing thousands to benefit.
The game was chosen to be an exhibition game, a kick-off to the season, naming it the Crossover at Kinnick. They laid the Iowa WBB court within the confines of the outdoor football stadium, drawing a near 55,000 fans to be a part of the first game in Caitlin Clark's senior year. A NCAA record-breaking 55,000 fans. The first of many records Clark would break this upcoming season.
The game followed a lot of football Saturday traditions. The way the team was called out, a stadium flyover, and your favorite part - the Hawkeye Wave over to the kids in the UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital. You had done it before when your team had danced at football games and were excited to be a part of it today.
You are proud to be part of the Iowa Hawkeye dance team - have been for the past three years now. It is what brought you to IU in the first place.
Growing up dance had always been something you enjoyed. Unlike most of the other girls on the dance team, you didn't start taking dance classes until halfway through middle school. When you learned you had a natural talent for it, you started taking it more seriously. You joined your high school's dance team and decided it was something you wanted to try your hand at in college. When you auditioned going into your freshman year, you were one of two freshmen to make the team.
Since then you have captained the team for two football seasons, going into your third. Yet here you are, freezing your azz off because you forgot your damn coat.
Upon arriving at the stadium, you should have been prepared. You should have thought through how it is November in Iowa and how it is about to be winter but that doesn't cross your mind until you are shaking courtside.
"Didn't you bring a coat?" One of your teammates asks. She is currently bundled up in two jackets, ear muffs, and hand warmers.
"If I did, don't you think I would be wearing it?" You snap and immediately realize. "I'm sorry babe, I am just freezing."
You are trying to hide your shaking body and keep moving around to generate any sort of heat that you can.
A part of being on the dance team was being visible during the whole game. You weren't the cheer squad but your team had to be posted up next to them every game. It wasn't bad, it was just cold.
As halftime approached you directed your team to stretch out again, not wanting them to pull anything while dancing. You did the same, as you watched your basketball continue to do what they do best.
Once everyone was stretched, you all bunched together ready to take the court.
"I am still freezing my ass off," you say rubbing your hands together and huddle close to your friend. "I can't believe I didn't bring my freaking overcoat."
The team was coming off when someone bumped your shoulder causing you to take a few steps back.
"Hey! Watch it," you tell the 6-foot frame.
"Oh shit, I'm sorry," the girl says. You pull down your skirt and smooth it over. Once you are satisfied with your outfit adjustment you look up.
'Of-freaking-course', you think to yourself as you make eye contact with none other than Caitlin Clark.
"I didn't see you there," she says, the slightest smirk peaking out.
"Very funny Clark," you say trying to hide your own smile and keep it serious.
"Oh, keeping it professional now are we?" She says. "It's cute, but you can call me Caitlin."
"That is so kind of you," you say, kind of surprised she is still there talking to you. You finish your sentence with, "Clark."
She just smiles and shakes her head. You hear the music come on and you know it's your cue. Caitlin doesn't follow the rest of the team back through the tunnel, rather stands to the side and watches you and your team take the court.
Caitlin knows she should be back with her team. More so to warm up but she couldn't nor wanted to take her eyes off you. She stood there watching you and your team keep everyone entertained during halftime. A smile resting on her lips the entire time.
She has seen you around before. How could she not, you were at practically every sports game. Caitlin would frequent the Hawkeye's football games but never really got close enough to see you perform (something she will probably never admit to you). If it wasn't seeing you in passing there, she noticed you would go and watch other sports just for fun. She has to think about it but if she remembers correctly she has seen you at both the men's and women's volleyball matches, women's soccer, and even some track and even the women's swim and dive meets.
Caitlin cheers on your team as you finish your routine and runoff, making way for the cheer squad to perform their routine next. As you make your way back you see Cait standing in the same spot she bumped you in. She is smiling at you and clapping as you make your way over. You walk up to her despite the murmurs you hear from your team, only making out your name and Caitlin's in their muffled conversations.
"Aren't you supposed to be somewhere, Clark?" You ask as you cross your arms over your chest. You may have just performed a 6-minute dance routine but the chilled air was unforgiving.
"Wanted to stay out here and watch - making sure your little frozen ass doesn't fall off," she says, her eyes never leaving yours.
"The team is great," you say with a smile choosing to ignore the second part of her statement and refusing to be the first one to break eye contact.
"I wasn't watching the team," she says, that stupid smirk playing on her lips again. You could feel yourself losing this battle.
"That's a shame, they are great," you say trying to regain any part of this conversation.
"Maybe, but not as great as who I had my eyes on," she says. You blush and look away. You felt like you were being interrogated by the freaking CIA not flirting with your school's superstar.
"Okay, Clark, you win," you say as you crumble under her gaze.
She rubs the back of your arm, letting her hand linger on you. You look back up at her.
"I should get back," she says not wanting to leave you but knowing her job isn't done.
"You should," you say, agreeing for her - the first time since this conversation has started.
"Thanks for umm, thanks for watching," you say, your nerves peaking out. She nods and heads in the direction of her team.
What the hell was that? You make your way over to your team and they are all chattering about the interaction. You take your seat next to your co-captain who is just looking at you.
You keep your head forward still processing it all. Caitlin Clark was just talking to you. Not only that, but she waited and watched you perform then proceeded to flirt with you about it. Her hand was on your arm. You were thankful it wasn't skin-to-skin contact because you probably would have never let her walk away. She was teasing you.
You are too caught up in your own thoughts to see when someone had walked up to you. Your co-cap tapping your leg and nodding at the woman who was standing in front of you.
"Oh hi," you say and stand.
"I was told to bring this over to you," she says holding something, you look down and it's a jacket.
"Oh thank you," you say grabbing it.
"She wanted me to say it is from Caitlin," she says, emphasizing the name. "Told me I had to emphasize the name."
The woman walks away and you unfold the jacket to see 'CLARK' on the back right above the number 22. This girl is not serious right now. If you were under any other circumstance, you would not be putting it on but since the only time you have stopped shaking was while you were performing you decide to put the jacket on.
If your team was whispering about your interaction with Caitlin before, they are shouting from the rooftops now.
The basketball team comes back out and you find yourself looking for a particular someone. To your delight, she is making her way over to you.
"You got it, good," she says, wrapped in an Iowa jacket of her own.
"You didn't need to do this," you say but make no move to try and hand it back to her. It has been the warmest you have been the whole game. She lets out a little laugh.
"Sure, says the one who was shaking like a chihuahua," she says taking in the sight of you in her clothing. She could get used to this.
"I appreciate it, Clark," you say and she groans.
"Caitlin," she says.
"Clark," you retort.
"Cait," she responds.
"Clark," you are not giving in.
"CC, Caity, C - anything but Clark," she says frustrated.
"Why does it bother you so much that I call you by your last name?" You ask now the one who has the slight edge in the conversation.
"Clark, get your butt over here," one of her coaches yells at her.
"That's why," she mumbles and gives you one last look before running back over to the team.
"Get it Clark!" You yell after her, earning some whistles and shouts from your team.
You're thankful it is still cold out because the redness on your cheeks can easily be taken as cold, hiding your blush.
Your team doesn't shut up about the fact that you had talked to Caitlin but she gave her varsity jacket to you to wear. All the girls were staring at you and taking in the sight of the player's jacket.
A ball gets swatted out of bounds and you catch it before it can hit anyone on your team. Caitlin sees where it goes and books it to grab it from you.
Here is the thing about Caitlin, she is the last person to go and catch a ball that has been hit out of bounds. Her whole team was aware of this. So it is to everyone's surprise when she is the first one to hustle after the ball when the whistle is blown.
You hold up the ball for her.
"Careful there Clark, could have hurt someone," you say.
She laughs, "Ya right."
"Since when are you the first one to run after a loose ball," you say exposing that you may have watched her more than a few times. Could anyone blame you? Caitlin has been drawing the attention of the whole nation.
"Didn't want to miss the opportunity to come talk to the pretty girl," she says with that damn smirk.
"You are too kind Clark," you say faking flattery.
"Oh, I was talking about the girl next to you," she says teasing you.
You sit there speechless as Caitlin finally takes the ball.
"I'm kidding, but you should see the look on your face. It's priceless," she says winking at you before heading back over to inbound the ball.
'Oh it is on Clark' you think as you watch them finish up the last quarter.
Caitlin, of course, plays amazing. She finishes the game off with her first triple-double of the season. You watch as she celebrates with her team - all of who were excited to start the season on a high note. You are celebrating with your team when they all go quite in front of you and stare at something behind you. You turn around before Caitlin can tap your shoulder.
"Ahh, so we meet again," you say with a smile. "Well done Clark."
"Okay, enough with the Clark. You are wearing my jacket for goodness sake," she says and shakes her head.
"Oh, ya, thank you for this," you say and begin to take it off. She stops you by putting her hand on your arm - the second time today you note.
"Hold on to it, if you take it off now you will start shaking again and I don't really care to see you looking like a little chihuahua," she says and scratches the back of her neck. You raise your eyebrow at her. If you don't give her the jacket back now, that means you will need to see her again to return it.
"And who exactly am I supposed to get this back to you?" You ask.
"Well that is actually why I came over here," she says and you can tell she is a little more nervous than she had been before. You don't notice but both of your teams are watching the interaction between you.
"Okay," you say encouraging her to continue.
"How would you feel about going out with me this weekend?" Caitlin says as she has to mentally remind herself to keep her breathing steady and to not rush her words.
"I don't know..." you start. "I was thinking I could just have someone swing the jacket by one of your practices."
Caitlin's face looks mortified and you immediately bring your hand up to hers to ease her, your joke being taken a little too serious.
"I'm kidding Clark," you say and give her hand a squeeze. "I would love to go out with you this weekend."
She smiles widely.
"Great," she says. "I'll text you details," she begins walking backward.
"And how are you going to do that without my number?" You say as she is now just out of reach.
"You're cute," she says, now back in control of the conversation. "I've had your number for a while, now I just get to use it."
You stare at her, mouth agape. You don't know how to get the last word in so she does.
"Talk to you soon babe!" Caitlin says and runs back towards her team.
AN: This was a cutie. Hope you enjoyed it and let me know what you think! And as always, thank you for the love and support 🤍

Speakeasy Serenade — s.jy
Tumblr media
sim jaeyun x male reader fluff 1k words
As the token gay guy in your circle of friends, going out drinking just means your friends talking about their boyfriends and you pouring out advice. Tonight you meet Jake, who seems to find you prettier than anyone he has met before.
includes: supportive friends (from ive) :D, fluffy college gaes, art guy meets math guy warning: n/a
Tumblr media
You casually take a panoramic video for the mandatory social media post, swiftly scrolling through the tables of students your age to the blinding neon signage flaunting the swanky bar you’re currently lounging at. The discordant yet inviting noise of the people chattering and the unrecognizable generic house music coax you to saunter into the beat of the crowd, to melt into its blur and comfort, to lose your inhibitions along your fading sobriety.
The girls are once again enumerating their recent trysts, Wonyoung’s sophomore athlete, Yujin’s substitute instructor, and another childhood friend of Gaeul somehow suddenly coming back. They seek your counsel, begging for romantic advice as if you have any experience under your belt. You don’t, and all you have for reference is your BLs and fan fiction.
“Let’s talk about you now, got anything going on?” Gaeul drawls towards you with a mischievous glint in her eyes, cheek leaning on the back of her hand.
“You should be the one with the most stories here,” Yujin jests, roughly grabbing both of your hands. “You know, Wonyoung’s boyfriend says there’s a gay guy in their team,” she slurs, “she can make him set you two up."
You chortle, “I’m not interested, I’m already satisfied with seeing you all find your guys.”
They teasingly coo at you, patting your head and such. Wonyoung sternly looks at you though, muttering, “but we’d also be happy with you finding your man, okay?”
You respond with a weak smile. As you inhale the temporary comfort from Wonyoung, your eyes meet a man a couple tables over, in his early 20s you presume, probably a senior from your university. For a second, the man seems to be caught off-guard, yet he quickly recovers with a blinding smile that could only compare to the sweltering of your summer breaks.
The warmth of the bar could only get so much warmer for a usually cold man like you.
Your palms feel clammy as you fail to immediately break off eye contact, and now the man’s walking towards your friends’ table. The man is handsome, really handsome, and about the same height as you, maybe a little taller. Some less alcohol could have probably given you a wider vocabulary to describe the scene. He blends so well with everyone else, yet he just stands out.
“Hey, have we met before?” he boldly asks, the conversations on your table abruptly stopping. All eyes are now on the man, and you hear your friends murmuring behind you. His gaze burns you.
“I don’t think our friend here remembers,” Gaeul butts in, noticing you struggling to find your words. Yujin cackles, gripping on Wonyoung’s thigh.
“No, I don’t think so,” you stammer, finding a familiar seal stamped on the guy’s varsity jacket. “Although it’d be safe to assume you’re also from…”
The man deeply chuckles, head tilting back as he holds onto your shoulder, veins running along his arm, Adam's apple bobbing… Damn. “You don’t know how happy I am to find out we go to the same university,” he chimes. “Ladies,” he glances at your friends, “would it be alright for me to borrow your friend?”
“You can even take him home!” Yujin cheers. “We’ll be here waiting for you,” Wonyoung looks at the man up and down, then whispers, “or maybe not.”
“Oh, uh, sorry, they tend to get rowdy when they get tipsy-”
You lose your lousy apology as he pulls you away into the parking lot, where the bar’s house music is instead replaced by the live music from the open lounge across the alley. The new vibe sobers you up, the silence being filled by the strumming of an acoustic guitar and the late night hustle and bustle. Your gut says that the man was about to do something foxy but then you see the man clumsily sit on a curb.
“Uh, I’m not kidnapping you or anything,” he awkwardly clarifies out of nowhere.
You furrow your brows in amusement, “I didn’t think of that-”
“And I forgot my name! Jake. Hi, I’m Jake,” he swiftly puts out his hand, withdraws it, then puts it back out like a malfunctioning robot.
You couldn’t stop yourself from giving a hearty laugh as you told him your name. “Nice to meet you, Jake,” you chuckle, giving him an uncoordinated handshake. As opposed to his confident and suave demeanor from earlier, he now gives off a more tame, and in fact, quite nervous, aura.
“So, you’ve got a habit of leaving your friends and pulling strangers out of bars?” you tease, sitting down on the curb beside him. A gust of night wind hits the both of you, tousling Jake’s hair to a fluffy mess. He looks like a puppy, you thought.
Jake grins, running a hand through his hair. “Not usually, uh, no. I just… I saw you and knew I had to take the chance. My friends won’t notice I’m gone.” He earnestly looks at you, and flutters bubble deep in your chest. “So, uh… What’s your major?”
“Creative writing,” you reply, “it’s a small community. And you?”
“Math,” he hesitantly replies, almost ashamed. “Kinda boring for you, huh?”
“Hey, there’s beauty in math too,” you contemplate, searching across the theorems and concepts you’ve heard in your mandatory math classes the past few years. The conversation flows as the two of you share the intricacies of your majors, as if you were already plotting a shared future together in your careers.
“Like the golden ratio,” you remember, eyes on Jake’s finger mindlessly drawing circles on the back of your hand. “Turns out there’s a mathematical reason why I find some artworks more pleasing than others.”
Jake’s eyes light up. “And I’m looking at a breathtaking work of art right now.”
You find yourself at a loss for words, looking back at Jake. “That was smooth.”
“Sorry, I couldn’t stop myself,” Jake smiles, tilting his head like an apologetic puppy. You just want to pat his head so bad. “Gotta use all my pick up lines now before I regret it.”
“You’ve got a lot more opportunities to use them,” you reply, belatedly realizing what your response implies. “If you wanna go out with me sometime,” you add. You don’t want to say goodbye yet, and Jake seemed to feel the same thing.
Jake eagerly nods as he fishes his phone out his pocket. “I’d like that. In the daytime, on campus, with no alcohol?”
Your heart skips a beat. “I’d like that too.”

bully!eddie finds out
you’re a cheerleader
Tumblr media
“What. the hell. are you wearing?” Eddie scoffs as he looks up at me from his sitting spot on my front porch.
“I made the varsity cheer squad!” I jump up and down excitedly. “I told you I was going to try out. But you never listen.” I grumble the last part under my breath.
“Hey” Eddie stands and towers over me as I turn my key in the door and let us in. “I listen.” He says, his hand coming up to rest on my lower back as we walk inside. “Just didn’t think you were really going to go through with it. It’s just so not like you.” I feel his eyes scanning my body as we walk down the hallway to my room. “You only care about grades and homework. And now look at you.” He waves his hand at my new uniform. “Who even are you anymore?” I roll my eyes. “You’re being dramatic. Nothing’s changed about me. I’ve always liked dancing. And now I just have some new girlfriends and a couple teams to cheer for.” I chirp. A blazing fire starts behind his eyes. “Bet all the idiot jocks are gonna be drooling all over you.” He shakes his head as he flips the hem of my skirt up. “Hey.” I squeal and hold my skirt back down. He shakes his head. “Is that what you want? For Jason and all his basketball bros to notice you?” Eddie asks.
“No Eddie.” I grumble with an eye roll. “That’s right no.” He growls. “And why’s that hm?” He asks expectantly. I sigh, shifting my weight to one hip, avoiding eye contact with him defiantly. Which is hard to do when his face is inches from mine. He looks at me with his eyebrows raised, waiting.
“Because I only want you to notice me.” I say halfheartedly. He nods, appeased but still not happy. He steps closer, his nose grazing my cheek as he whispers in my ear, his hands settling at my waist. “Because I’m the only one that matters. Because you belong to me. And no one else will ever have you, right?” I stare back at him blankly, not wanting to play his childish game.
Eddie chuckles to himself, turning away and plopping his body on the little pink couch in my room. His eyes rake over me, taking in the way the HHS cheer logo stretches over my chest, the striped ruffle skirt hitting the tops of my thighs, the pompoms still in my hands. The anger is gone from his eyes and all that’s left is lust.
“Show me a cheer then.” He nudges his chin up at me, eyes daring me to move. His arms are stretched across the back of the couch, leather jacket hanging loosely over his white t shirt. I wrinkle my brow and scoff “No. you were just making fun of me.” “Aw c’mon sweetheart. You look so cute. None of the other cheerleaders look this good in the uniform.”
I shake my head at the comparison. I know Eddie has a thing for cheerleaders. He’s hooked up with at least 3, he eyes them whenever they cross his path and I’ve heard rumors about his and Chrissy’s hangouts in the woods. Not that they’d ever admit it. No popular, well respected senior at Hawkins would say they’ve messed around with Eddie. But rumors will fly. And now that I’ve been surrounded by the cheerleaders for a couple weeks, I see most of the rumors were true. But that’s not why I tried out for cheer. I like dancing and being peppy… right?
Eddie’s long legs are spread and he’s staring at me. His hands rest casually in his lap, his fingers intertwined. He’s waiting. “Fine.” I surrender. I didn’t learn all these new cheers for nothing. “T-I-G-E-R-S! We’re better than the rest!” I say hopping up and down. Eddie nods, a soft smile on his face. “That’s great, babe. So cute.” But I don’t want to be cute right now. I want to be hot. And I want Eddie to think I’m hot. So I toss my pompoms to either side of the room and the corners of Eddie’s lips curl into a smirk. I grab the remote from my nightstand and push a button to make my record player start. “Is this love” by Whitesnake plays from the corner of my room. Eddie chuckles and shifts in his seat, getting comfortable. I walk over to him slowly and begin swirling my hips to the beat, letting my hair fall behind my back. I close my eyes and get lost in the music.
Eddie’s eyes are glued to me. He’s staring at my legs, the little peek of skin between my skirt and top and my face, lips parted, eyelids fluttering and covered in sparkles. He’s never seen anything so beautiful. “Is this love or am I dreaming?” the song lyrics swirl around in his head.
I open my eyes and I’m suddenly closer, in between Eddie’s spread thighs. My palms plant on his shoulders and I shimmy my body shamelessly inches from his face. His hands reach up and rest behind my knees, slowly grazing up the backs of my thighs and under my skirt to squeeze palmfuls of my ass in each hand. He bites his lip, his eyes so low I could count every long, pretty eyelash framing his big brown eyes. His hands slide back down to my knees, pulling them forward so I can sit on his lap.
His lips find mine and we kiss for the rest of the song. My brain goes blank, thoughts and games leaving my conscious. All I care about is this feeling that I’m feeling in this moment with Eddie. My bully? My boyfriend? I’ve lost track at this point.
I feel Eddie’s hand start to unzip the side of my tank top. I raise my arms so he can slip it off over my head and my tits spill out, bouncing against my chest, nipples already hard. “Mmm no bra baby?” Eddie rasps as his warm hands grab my boobs and squeeze. I shake my head. “Don’t really need it in this kind of top… besides, the girls say a little extra jiggle looks good during the routines.”
Eddie’s eyes turn from hungry to worried to puppy dog in the span of about half a second. “The basketball team really is going to be all over you.” He says sounding truly worried. He lets his head fall back and hit the headrest of the couch, his hands still gripping my hips, his eyes squeezed shut. I place my hands on either side of his neck softly, his skin’s warm and I can feel his pulse thumping under my fingers. “No they’re not Eddie.”
His head shoots back up and his eyes resemble an owl’s. I giggle, “ok well even if they try,” I push the hair away from his eyes, “it won’t matter.” “It won’t?” He asks hopefully. “Mm mm.” I shake my head. “Cause you’re the only one that matters to me.” I relax my thighs, sitting fully on Eddie’s lap. I can feel how hard he is already. “No other guy could make me feel the way you do.” I purr.
He groans. Eddie Munson fucking groans. And his hands are squeezing my hips so hard it’s starting to hurt. But I like it. He smiles softly at me before turning his attention back to my exposed breasts, his thumbs rubbing and pinching my nipples. “So sweet to me baby. How’d I get so lucky?” He smiles up at me and my heart feels like it’s going to burst into a million pieces. I snake my arms around his neck and pull him in for a hug, his leather sleeved arms wrapping around my body and holding me close.
I’m the lucky one. But I’d never tell him that.

You asked I shall deliver. I based this one-shot on a song: Rose, by Taeyong and Seulgi. Have fun reading!
Tumblr media
"Will it be okay for you to fill in Ryujin's stead?" Wendy, the senior EIC of the school paper, asks with her fingers knotted atop her office desk. "She got sick two days ago. I know it's sudden, and I understand if you don't-"
"I'll do it," You tell the older girl with a polite smile, "If my memory serves me correctly - she was assigned to take pictures of the inter-school competition of our swimming team, yes?"
Wendy mirrors your smile, albeit warmer. Her posture relaxed. "Yes. Yes, Y/N. And it's this weekend."
You recount your task, "Then you're in luck, Wendy. I'm free this weekend."
The brunette heaves a sigh of relief, "Good. That will be all, Miss Choi. You can go." You bowed your head in acknowledgment before exiting her office and proceeded to the university library to meet with your friend and confidant: Yunjin, who needs a copy of your captured photos for the school paper.
"There you are," You whisper and sit next to the younger raven-haired beauty who's busy typing on her laptop. "What did Wendy want from you?" The latter inquires without tearing her eyes from the screen. "A substitute for Ryujin," You answer her as you lean next to her; eyes following the sea of words that showed events during the last competition. "Are you almost done?"
The raven-haired beauty mutters something decipherable, and you just let her be.
"Okay," She stretches her back and gestures an open palm toward you. "The USB?"
You arch a brow at her, "Please?"
She mirrors your expression, "The USB, please, Y/N?"
A teasing grin graces your lips as you fish for it in your jacket pocket and give it to her. "Jeez," The latter grumbles before plugging it into her laptop. "Where and what?"
"Here at our university. I'll be taking the pictures of our swimming team."
Finally, Yunjin tears her eyes off her screen and blinks at you. "A sports-based competition?" She muses, "That's a first."
Indeed, for years that you've been a photojournalist, you were assigned to academic-based competitions. "That means you get to see Yonsei's pride."
"Younsei's - what?"
She gives you a look, "For a journalist, you're not updated with the times here, Y/N. What would Wendy say?"
You scowl at her, "You can't blame me for being assigned to Academics, Yunjin." You brush her off, "Anyway. What about Yonsei's pride?" She curls her lips to a sardonic smile before typing away and presenting you with a photo of the team wearing Yonsei's varsity jackets and swimming trunks. There are four of them, and three of them are familiar to you: Sungchan, the first one on the right. Hyunjin is first on the left and Minjeong who's standing next to Hyunjin.
You're familiar with the three of them. All except one. A girl standing in between Minjeong and Sungchan. The girl possesses fair skin, a small face, a V-shaped jaw, big yet fierce dark brown eyes, and a lithe physique. "So the team is the pride of the university?"
"No," She zooms in the photo of the girl. "She is. That's Karina Yoo, their captain."
"She looks mean," You observed, and Yunjin chuckled, "You're not wrong."
Your jaw slacks, "Really?"
The latter hums in agreement and pauses. "A bitch is an appropriate term, bestie." You frown at her, "That's a bit too much."
She scoffs at you, "Try interacting with her this weekend, and we'll see."
"Whatever," You huffed and eyed your USB, "Are you done uploading my pictures to your folder?"
Yunjin unplugs it and places it atop the table. "Yep, thanks, girl."
Tumblr media
You observe the team from the bleachers with your camera in your hands as cheers ricochet against the walls of the spacious gym upon seeing your team make their appearance from the ground floor. Yonsei's team wore their signature swimsuit with the university's logo placed on the left lower front area of the men's swimming trunks, while for the women: it's located on the right upper breast of their partial bodysuit.
You're not too far to get a clear shot.
The girls of your university squealed when Sungchan flexed his toned body. Although impervious to such behavior, you can't help but admire the body of the swimmer before moving your gaze onto Minjeong, who waved at her fellow peers. Both men and women cheered for the auburn-haired girl while Hyunjin put his arm around Sungchan, who also waved to Yonsei's students.
"That's three of them," You tell yourself amongst the noise, "Where's the captain?"
As if the universe answered, she finally appeared, and you swore you were about to go deaf due to their screams and cheers amplifying.
Your eyes followed their gaze, and your jaw slacked.
Karina Yoo's photos did not do her justice; she's drop-dead gorgeous in real life, and her lithe body is just a bonus to the grace that the girl exudes. You examine the captain. She couldn't be older than twenty-three.
"KARINA! KARINA! KARINA!" The students chant as she stands beside Minjeong - awaiting their opposing team while she converses with her team by huddling them. You take it as an opportunity to take their photo.
But as you take another shot, Karina's eyes flicker in your direction.
Did she? Uncertainty and confusion seep into your thoughts as if you were shamelessly caught.
You instinctively put your camera down.
She returns her gaze to her members and continues speaking while they nod. You zoom the lens and take their photo. But this time, you don't put your camera down when Karina's sharp eyes look in your direction. There's something about her gaze that makes you fix your relaxed posture; as if she's looking through your camera, and it makes you feel small - that intense gaze of hers.
You didn't take a picture and instead put your camera down. Perhaps the captain's sharp, piercing gaze meant that was enough as she and her team moved away from each other, but she stayed next to Minjeong and leaned close to the shorter girl's ear. The auburn-haired girl's eyes flicked in your direction before saying something to the taller girl.
Paranoia creeps into your body. It's not like you have done something wrong, right? You were merely doing your job as a photojournalist for Yonsei. You tear your gaze from the pair and see the team they're competing against.
You take it as your cue to descend from the bleachers as Karina's team makes their way to their assigned benches, leaving Hyunjin alone with his competitor.
While descending from the bleachers, you can feel someone's eyes following you as you make your way to the indoor pool with your camera ready. You didn't dare look in fear of seeing that intense gaze as the referee blew his whistle for the two representatives of the opposing team, and make their way to the edge of the pool's ledge.
"On your mark!" The referee bellows, "Get set. Go!"
You ready your camera.
Sometime later, it was the captain's turn.
Your peers chant the captain's name as she made her way to the pool's ledge.
Due to your proximity to the pool's side, you locked eyes with her, and you swallowed harshly under her harsh gaze.
"Jeez," You mutter as you tear your eyes from the older girl. "What's her deal?"
"On your mark!" The referee once again bellows, "Get set. Go!"
True to her title, Karina Yoo is Yonsei's pride. And so is the other members - they won and will be competing for the nationals three months from now.
After the game, your peers went down to take pictures with the winning team. By this time, they change into dry clothes with towels draped over their shoulders, and you are standing next to the pool, checking your shots, when you hear your female colleagues scream Karina's name from behind. Out of curiosity, you look back to see a group of them running toward you - correction, you look in front to see the captain approaching them, leaving you beset on both sides.
Before you can react, one of them pushes you aside. Your eyes widen, and you instinctively put your hand where you're holding your camera up as you fall into the pool.
"Oh no!" One of the students yell as you surface up with a gasp, look at your dry camera, and sigh in relief. "Are you okay?" One of them asks as they approach you intending to help.
"Yes," You gasp, "Take the camera - be careful with it, please?" The student nods in compliance and takes your camera.
You can feel holes burning on the side of your face, and without thinking, you look to the source and see Karina standing at the edge of the pool with wide eyes, her posture stiff and rigid, as if repulsed by the sight of you violating their pool.
You flush under her gaze and reluctantly take the students' hands as they help you out of the pool and hurriedly take your camera from the other student.
"Thank you," You tell them with a flushed face as you hastily exit the gym - facing burning with shock and humiliation.
Tumblr media
"Told you," Yunjin sneers, "A bitch."
A whine leaves your lips as you slam your head against your desk. "Shut up - at least the students helped me." It's been a week since the minor incident, and you told Yunjin after you change into dry clothes in the university dorm.
"Yeah," She snorts, "While the captain just glowers at you as if - what did you say?" She snaps her fingers, "Ah, as if you contaminated the pool." Then, she snickers. You glare at her while her lips curl to a teasing grin.
"Whatever," You poke your tongue at her, and she relents by putting her hands up in mock surrender. "Look at the bright side," Your friend counters, "At least your camera's safe."
"Yeah," You half-heartedly agree, "But I think I'm traumatized."
"Should I book your therapy?" She quips, "Oh wait, you're broke."
You scoff at her, "And? So are you." She stares at you, and you mimic her reaction before you two giggle as more students occupy the lecture hall.
"Alright, students!" The professor says aloud as soon as he enters the room. "Take your seats - we have a new student joining us this semester."
Murmurs echo while you and Yunjin share their curious looks as the older man looks at the entrance door. "Come in and introduce yourself." A familiar figure enters the room, and the class erupts with cheers and yells as Karina stands before all of you in casual wear in all-black: a cardigan with white accents, a tube top, denim jeans, and chunky sneakers, her hair is styled to a low, neat bun as she eyes the class, her gaze instantly meeting yours. You flinched and looked away from her and at Yunjin, who, in turn, looked at you. Both faces express surprise.
"The fuck?" Yunjin mutters while you return to the new student, gaping.
"I'm Karina Yoo," She announces, her voice is steely and attention-grabbing. "But most, if not all of you, know me as Yonsei's pride."
The class yells and whistles in agreement. The professor holds his palm up, and the class quiets down. "Alright," Your professor gestures a hand at the vacant seats, "Thank you, Miss Yoo. You may take any seat." The captain bows her head and ascends to the elevated rows of seats with each student eyeing her expectantly for her to sit next to them.
You quickly turn to Yunjin and grumble: "Just when I thought I'm finally free from what happened last week." She snickers at you, "Sucks to be you, my traumatized friend."
A muffled pained groan reverberates from your lips, but you quickly stiffen as the captain walks past your row and takes a sit two seats above you. You sigh in relief and return your gaze to your professor preparing his presentation.
"That bad, huh?" Yunjin observes as she takes out her laptop.
"Yeah," You whisper.
There it is again, that familiar burning feeling; as if someone's burning holes in the back of your head - it's the same feeling. But you chose to ignore it. Thirty minutes into the lecture, you couldn't ignore the feeling anymore and slowly peer over your shoulder. You almost jumped from your seat upon locking eyes with the swim captain. Her notebook lay forgotten. Instead, she was looking at you while the side of her face rested against her fist. Your skin prickles at the intensity, and you can feel your face flushing as her lips visibly curl upwards before slowly moving her gaze to the professor.
You quickly looked away from her and tried to focus on the discussion. But Professor Lee's words came and went out of your head. All you could do was mindlessly take notes and pictures of his slides and promise yourself that you'll go over your notes tonight.
It went on for days; you could've been used to it now. But you're not.
"I'm not being delusional, right?" You lock eyes with your friend, looking for reassurance. "I mean, it's not like I did something bad. I fell on the pool, for fuck's sake." You vent while the latter closes her laptop and sighs. "Have you tried asking her what's her problem?"
You give her a look, "Are you kidding me?"
The raven-haired girl shrugs nonchalantly, "I mean - if you want an answer from her, just ask her directly."
"Easier said than done," You mutter while she yawns. "I'll just ignore it, I guess? I mean, no harm, no foul, right?"
"Yeah," The latter looks at you, her relaxed expression turning serious. "But if she does something that makes you uncomfortable. Tell me immediately." On cue, the microwave dings. Dinner's ready. You're currently in her apartment; you can work together on your paper for the interschool competition due tomorrow.
"I will," You smile at her and stand from her couch to grab your dinner.
"Oh - come on!" You yell as the copies of the printed announcements; the latest news regarding the competition get whisked away by a couple of rushing students late for class. You put the other documents down on the floor, but not without putting your phone on top to ensure it doesn't fly away as you begin picking them from the floor.
"Hey," A slightly deep feminine voice calls your attention, "You missed this last one."
"Oh?" You turn around and freeze as the captain of the swimming team holds the copy for you. You gawk at her while she moves her line of sight to the paper she's holding.
"I look good in this photo," She remarks before looking at you. Her voice sounds softer this time. "Not bad for a picture taken from quite a distance."
"Thanks," You smile politely at the older girl as you grip the papers you're holding to calm your nerves. She raises her brow and gently flaps the paper. "My hand's getting tired. Aren't you going to get it?"
"Right," You stammer and wince at the sound of your voice as you tentatively take the paper from her, and the latter walks away without saying a word.
You let out a breath you didn't know you were holding as you looked at the paper she gave you before putting it with the rest. And as you continue your day, you couldn't help but replay the odd interaction you had with the captain.
Tumblr media
"Weird," Yunjin muses as you take your designated seats for your proceeding lecture which is in ten minutes - but something's out of the ordinary.
There's a rose atop your desk with a pink ribbon tied around its stem.
The taller girl looks at you with a playful grin, "Someone's into you."
You roll your eyes at her and sit down, "Must be for another person." You say as you carefully examine the rose to ensure there's a tag - and that it's for the right person. You freeze in your seat, and Yunjin bends to read the tag in perfect handwriting and snickers. "It's yours, Y/N."
A frown creeps in your features, "But who-"
"Keep it," She shrugs and leans closer, "What else does it say?"
"Nothing,"
The raven-haired hums and takes her seat next to you. "Anyways, keep it."
You look at her with a questioning look, "Why?"
"As evidence that someone has a good eye and chose my BFF, duh?"
You let out an exasperated groan and playfully pushed her shoulder. "Oh, shut up."
Yunjin was about to say something when she closed her mouth, and her expression became guarded. You furrow your brows and slowly follow her gaze, "What's the matter-" Your words die in your throat as Karina takes her seat next to you. Your eyes widen to the point that they were about to pop out from their sockets and snap your neck in Yunjin's reaction; eyes asking for her aid.
"Karina," Yunjin softly clears her throat, "What's the sudden change of places?"
"So I can see better," She answers curtly. Yunjin arches a brow, "You don't seem to have a problem being two seats away for the past couple of days?"
You sit there awkwardly while the two exchange cold pleasantries.
Karina shifts in her seat and looks past you, "I'd like to sit here so I won't miss any key points in the professor's lecture. What's it to you?"
Yunjin opens her mouth, but you look at her, head shaking sideways.
The latter huffs, "Alright then, enjoy the view."
"Thanks," Karina monotonously replies as more students pile into the lecture hall. You look down at the rose and shrug, "Alright Yunjin," You delicately pick up the rose and insert it into your tote bag carefully. "I'll keep it, my bedside needs decorating anyway."
From the corner of your eye, you can see Karina looking at the rose before tearing her gaze as the professor enters the venue.
"Alright students, settle down and prepare your books, notebooks, laptops - whatever you need to keep notes. We'll begin shortly."
Forty minutes into the lecture, you missed the previous slide.
"Crap," You mutter, and just as you're about to ask Yunjin if she copied the previous slide, Karina slides her phone next to you.
The screen showed a picture of the slide you missed. "Here," She whispers. You blink at her while she continues to take her notes. She must've sensed your staring and sighed, "Are you going to copy that or what?"
You snap from your reverie, "Right, right. Sorry - thank you." You whispered to her and copied the slide she pictured before sliding her phone back to her but made no move to put it back in her bag.
"I saw that," Yunjin whispers, and you jump from your seat.
"Next slide - is everything okay up there, Miss Choi?" The professor calls. Your cheeks redden as all the students, including the captain, turn to look at you. Your cheeks burn, "Yes sir, sorry."
He hums, "Moving on..."
Sometime later, it was lunchtime; you and Yunjin decided to eat outside of campus.
"So Chaewon recommended this restaurant," She opens the door for you while you carry both your laptop bags, "They sell good meat here and noodles here."
"You've been mentioning her a lot," You comment as you take a vacant table. The latter makes a face at you before looking at the menu displayed above the counter, "What do you want to eat?"
"I'll take spicy chicken and jjajangmyeon."
"Cool. Sit here. I'll go order."
You open your laptop, "And I'll pay you later." The taller girl hums and goes to the counter while you work on your task. "Do my eyes deceive me?" Another feminine voice speaks from the side. You look up from your screen, "Giselle," You greet the captain of the debate team with a smile as you close your laptop. The Korean-Japanese mirrors your smile as she inserts her hands in her jacket pocket. "It's been a while, Y/N. Are you going to eat alone?"
"No," You gesture a hand towards Yunjin who looks back and sends the other a wave. "Yunjin's eating with me. How about you? Are you going to eat alone?"
The brunette shakes her head sideways, "No, I'm also going to eat with someone." The door opens, and Giselle looks back. "There you are, Karina."
You fought the urge to drop your smile as you locked eyes with the captain of the swimming team. "Giselle," The captain regards, "You invited someone for lunch too?"
"No, no." She chuckles and pats your shoulder, "This is Y/N, the photojournalist who came with us four months ago for the nationals." She then gestures a hand towards her friend, "Y/N is this-"
"Karina Yoo," You finish for her with a polite smile, "We're classmates in Professor Lee's class."
There's a look on Giselle's face that you couldn't decipher as her eyes lit up.
"Ah, I see." She looks at Karina, who seems busy looking at the menu, and then looks at the two of you. "I'll order for us."
"Alright, alright." Giselle agrees, "I'll go get us a table." Without another word, Karina left. The debate captain looks at you with a knowing smile as Yunjin arrives at your table with iced tea, "Hey, Gi." Yunjin greets her with a grin as she puts your drinks on the table. "Hey Jen," She gives you another pat, "I'll see you two around campus, yeah?"
A hum leaves your throat as you watch the latter take a sit two tables away from you and Yunjin as more people enter the restaurant. "So," Yunjin clears her throat, "Care to tell me what was Karina sharing with you during Professor Lee's class?"
You shrug and sip your beverage, "Nothing, it was just the slide I missed."
"Okay, but what about the time your documents flew away?"
A frown graces your lips, "She was just helping."
Yunjin hums, and you lean closer. "What? What is it?"
"Nothing," She nonchalantly replies, "It's just that Karina's overall mean attitude seems to tone down with you, that's all."
"Astute observation, Yunjin." You roll your eyes at her, "Maybe she's just being a decent person? We're classmates, after all."
"Oh, yeah?" She challenges, "How come she doesn't give a damn about others?"
You open your mouth, but no words come out to your defense, and Yunjin's smirk makes you close it.
"I don't know,"
"Be observant, Y/N." She clicks her tongue, "Who knows, maybe you got the Yoo privilege."
You look at her incredulously, "I beg your pardon?"
"Yoo privilege," She snickers, "You like it? I made it while I was making my astute observation, and by that, I mean you have the privilege of her toning down her attitude toward you. I mean, she could be the one who placed the rose on your desk three days ago."
You know where this conversation's going. "Are you saying that she likes me?"
"Maybe," She grins, "Observe her, Y/N. Observe how she acts with others; how she acts with you. Then you'll know."
You consider that as the waiter arrives with your order. You sense a familiar from the side of your face. You look up from your food and meet her dark brown eyes.
And this time, you didn't flinch.
Tumblr media
You took Yunjin's advice and observed the captain.
It wasn't hard to observe her. She was never far from you, which made it easy to detect whether she was looking at you before talking to her friends.
But that still doesn't account for the roses on your desk. You tried, but with the number of deadlines piling up in journalism, you had to put your observation on pause.
"Jesus!" You snap as one of the student's coffee spills on your shirt. Murmurs echo in the hall upon witnessing an incident. "God - I'm sorry-"
"Forget it," You snap at the student as you pull the drenched fabric away from your skin and gesture for the student to go away, "Just go."
"Sorry again." The man says before awkwardly walking away while the others lose interest and walk away. "Fuck," You swore as you run your hand through your hair. "How the fuck am I supposed to go to the press conference looking like this?" You hiss as you swing your bag to the front to get your wipes. You hear footsteps approaching you and you scowl thinking it's the man who spilled coffee on you.
"Man," You sigh without looking in their direction. "You don't need to come here and-"
"Y/N," Your ears perk at the familiar tone, and you slowly turn around to face Karina standing before you with her fist securing her monogram jacquard jacket.
"Karina," You greet with slight surprise, "What are you doing here?"
She shakes her jacket, "Wear this."
"I beg your pardon?"
Instead of frowning, she keeps her face calm and uses her other hand to gesture at your shirt. "I can see the outline of - well, you know..."
You look down, and your face flushes, and with your other hand, you cover your upper body while the other takes her jacket. But you stop upon seeing the logo of her jacket, and sheepishly look at her.
"What's wrong?" She inquires. "I can't take this - it's expensive."
Karina shifts her weight on the other foot. "You'll be late for your press conference if you don't take it, Y/N." She tells you with a tone that leaves no argument. Without another word, she leaves the hall, leaving you with her jacket.
A frustrated sigh leaves your lips as you look at the expensive article of clothing before delicately donning it.
"Woah," Yunjin muses upon seeing you enter the venue. "I know that isn't yours, Y/N. Whose is it?"
"Karina's," You take a seat next to her. The latter let out a mock gasp. "Yoo privilege."
"Shut up, Yunjin."
After the conference, you stop by the EIC's office only to be greeted with roses and a freshly brewed ice latte on your desk.
"There you are!" Wendy grins as she stands next to you, "I receive our handler's feedback. You and Yunjin did a great job on the inter-school paper!"
"Yeah," You answer distractedly, "Who brought these on my desk?"
"Ah," Wendy frowns, "I didn't catch her name."
Her?
You turn to your EIC, "Can you describe her for me? What was she wearing?"
The older girl pauses in thought. "Well, she was wearing a brushed ribbed knit top, white denim jeans with a beige tag on its left pocket, and black boots."
Exactly what Karina wore when she gave you her jacket.
"I see," You mutter, and Wendy's face contorts with curiosity, "Why'd you ask?"
You brush her off, "It's nothing, thanks, Wendy."
The latter smiles, "No problem," She then turns to leave the room. "Enjoy your iced latte!"
Once the older girl is out of sight, you quickly take the rose with a tag on it, it read:
I'm rooting for you at the press conference; I hope you like iced latte to savor your victory.
-yjm
"YJM?" You move your line of sight to the iced latte, and beads of cold water slides down from the plastic cup. A smile creeps on your lips as you bring the cup's straw to your lips and take a sip, allowing the iced beverage to slide into your throat smoothly. You sigh in refreshment and place the drink on your desk. Your hands take the roses, careful from the thorns that could prick you as you study the delicate flower.
"Yunjin will hear about this."

"No way," She cackles, "So she lent you her jacket and even sent roses and an iced latte to the office? Damn, Y/N. You won in life."
You carefully pick up the jacket and raise it, "How do I clean this?"
Yunjin takes the clothing from you, "Leave it to me. I know a place where they clean luxury clothing."
"Alright," You sigh and collapse on her couch. "Oh, and Y/N?"
"Yeah?" You answer aloud as Yunjin makes her way back to the living room. "Did you know Girl's Generation is having a concert in Gocheok Sky Dome?"
Your ears perk, and you sit up straight, "No? When?"
"Two days from now," She tells you and frowns, "You didn't know?"
You give her a look, "I'm not updated - I've been busy."
"Right," She sighs, "Why?"
"Chaewon got a ticket for me - I can give it to you if-"
"Woah, Yunjin," You stop her by grasping her shoulder. "She gave it to you. You're the one she invited to go with her. It would be rude if you gave it to someone else."
Her features remain concerned, "Are you sure? Chaewon would understand-"
"Yunjin," You exasperated a sigh, "It's fine. She invited you."
A genuine smile graces your lips. "I'll be fine. Just remember to make a fan cam for me, yeah?"
The next day, Yunjin gives you Karina's jacket: freshly cleaned and neatly pressed.
While conversing on your way to Professor Lee's class, your eyes shift to the entrance only to be greeted by Karina leaning her back against the wall next to the door.
"Oh shit," Yunjin snickers quietly, and you nudge her by the elbow. "Sh,"
"Karina!" You call out and was about to give her jacket back when she cuts you off. "Just give it to me after Professor Lee's class."
Confused, but you comply as she enters the room. You and Yunjin follow suit as your peers begin to fill the lecture hall.
While the older man is discussing, Karina slides next to you, startling you with a jump as she ducks her head and drops her voice an octave lower. "I have something for you after class. Is it okay if we remain after everyone else left?"
You tear your eyes from the presentation to look at her. Your cheeks heat up as you meet Karina's soft, warm gaze, but her attractive face swims with uncertainty at your would-be reply.
A soft smile creeps on your lips, "Sure, Karina. What is it anyway?"
Her features soften, and surprise etches on your face as her lips quirk to a playful smile. That's a first.
"It's a surprise," She winks before returning to her original position.
You gape at her, surprised by this new side of her. You can't wait to know what she has in store for you after Mr. Lee's class.
Fifty minutes later, the older gentleman dismisses the class. Everyone left except for you, Karina, and Yunjin.
"You go first," You tell the raven-haired girl. Yunjin flashes you a grin before getting her bag, but not without whispering: "Yoo privilege" against your ear before leaving.
You huff at the latter as you get the paper bag containing Karina's jacket and hand it to her. "Here you go, Karina."
The older girl looks at the paper bag and smiles. "Can you stand up?"
How odd, "Sure."
You comply with her innocent request and hand the bag to her. "Here you go,"
Her lips tugged to a downward smile and retrieves the bag. "Thanks, Y/N."
You let out a hum while you two stand in silence. A sigh leaves the older girl's lips before she laughs lightly - and it sounds pleasant like chimes in the wind.
"Ah - this is not what I envisioned it." She guffaws and scratches her nape. You can't help but chuckle at the older girl's disposition. "Take your time," You assure the raven-haired beauty as she inhales sharply. Is she new to this? How adorable, you thought to yourself as she closes her eyes and puffs her cheeks.
"Ok," She opens them and clears her throat. "I'm afraid that I've made a bad impression when we first met, Y/N." She sighs, "Which is why I'm going to change that tomorrow."
Tomorrow? What does she mean?
On cue, she brings out a bouquet - well not really. More like two tickets wrapped in pink silk with a pastel ribbon secured around it.
"I hope you like concerts, Y/N. Especially Girl's Generation."
My, did your heart skip a beat?
"Will you be my date for the concert, Y/N Choi?"
"Yes," You breathe, and Karina's smile morphs into a delighted grin.
"You just made me the happiest girl, Y/N."

☆ SEVENTEEN AS PEOPLE AT SCHOOL
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
genre: highschool!au/uni!au
warnings: none
a/n: is this my official tumblr comeback ?? 😮
back to masterlist!
Tumblr media
☆ SEUNGCHEOL
the leader of the “jocks”. he's the guy you see walking around school with his varsity jacket on– even if it’s in the middle of the summer. he’s the literal definition of the hallway crush, whispers and giggles being a regular thing he hears when he walks through the school hallways, hand swiping through his pretty hair. he often sits on the wooden tables outside instead of the benches whenever he and his friends have their little weekly hangout-meeting. always has a lollipop in his mouth and says it’s for the girls but really, he just likes sweets.
☆ JEONGHAN
the king of debates. if you sign up for debate class, don’t think you’re ever going to win if you’re up against jeonghan. he’s the reason why so many people left debate class mid year but the teacher is so impressed by him that she can’t force herself to kick him out. he’s also widely known for being the mastermind behind his high school’s senior prank. besides his maniac pranks and his broad knowledge of law, he’s actually pretty fun to be around and some girls who have had the pleasure to go on dates with him describe him as an angel– even after getting ghosted.
☆ JOSHUA
the class president. he’s a close friend of jeonghan and thus, winning the class pres’ election was easy peasy. he only presented himself as a joke but started taking it seriously 7 months in when the school planned to cancel the annual pajama day. he acts normal but he’s truly just as insane as his large group of friends. the grumpy math teacher is his next door neighbor and he once gave her leftover cookies and since then, he’s been her favorite student– and the only student she smiles at.
☆ JUN
the cat defender. falls easily asleep in class and is often woken up by his classmates after the bell rang. someone once drew a cat on a wall in the gym hall with a marker a few years back and when jun transferred to the school, his name mysteriously appeared under the cat drawing. in his second year, he got detention for a whole month after bringing a kitten to school and hiding it in his bag every day for two weeks straight– he was only caught because the cat meowed during a test and none of his classmates wanted to fake meow to help the poor guy out.
☆ HOSHI
the school’s dance machine. when the school speakers play music, you’ll always find him bobbing his head to the beat. he gets his notebook confiscated weekly because he prefers to write down possible dance movements and new choreography ideas than math equations and english vocabulary. he has a pretty big following on social media after a video of him freestyling at the school’s talent show blew up. he now uses his popularity to freely make dance covers at school, students avoiding him in the hallways when he’s swinging his legs and arms around.
☆ WONWOO
the school library’s only visitor. ok, maybe that’s a bit exaggerated but he’s definitely the only one going there willingly! the library stinks and there’s no wifi, plus some rumors are going around saying that the room at the back the of the library is the go-to place to fuck, and lastly, the librarian is a bitch– except towards wonwoo, of course. besides him being the librarian’s favorite, he once got asked to prom by a senior when he was a junior and every two months or so, someone brings it up and everyone goes crazy over it again. to be honest, if he wasn't so focused on his video games and books he would see how many people stare at him with heart eyes.
☆ WOOZI
the normal kid. what else can i say, he's just a regular guy. he goes to school wearing his silly baggy outfits and doesn't leave the house without his headphones on. he meets up with his friends and has lunch with them. he isn’t quiet but he isn’t talkative either, only partaking in his friends’ silly little conversations when he deems necessary. he gets normal grades and enjoys his silly music class the most. he’s on the school’s swimming team and won a few silly prizes during competitions. he’s been the subject of affection from a few girls since the start of school and he’s been on a date once. really, he’s just a silly little guy living his silly little life– what’s there to hate?
☆ SEOKMIN
the theatre kid. you either hate him or love him, there’s no in between– fortunately, no one really hates seokmin. he’s a loud student, his laugh often resonating through the entire cafeteria. he’s always been part of the cast for the school musicals, landing the lead role in his first year, something that had never ever happened before. the only kisses he’s had were during rehearsals or actual performances but he knows he has a large group of fans so nobody can really tease him for it. one of the school’s old students still has one-sided beef with him because seokmin ‘stole’ his role.
☆ MINGYU
the popular kid. he’s part of every club on campus, and has a hard time juggling football practice with the weekly sessions of the photography club. in his second year he decided he wanted to be an architect and since then he always complains about the school’s awful floor plan. people in the art club always go to him when they need a model because he has the Looks and actually knows how to pose. he’s actually very fun and the epitome of your rich friendly student who deserves to be crowned prom king. he’s known around school for mowing the lawns of his neighbors for free, shirtless.
☆ MINGHAO
the fashion police. there’s no better way to define minghao, as his judgmental faces have become an obsession for people on campus. he loves clothes and the fact he’s hoarding a drawer in his roommate’s closet further proves it. there's’ not one day that goes by where minghao doesn’t eat with his outfit, nails painted and sunglasses on his head– even in the winter. if you have to dress up for something, going to minghao’s dorm for help is the best solution. he’s rather honest, not hiding his disgust or love for people’s outfits. he was actually voted prom king (mingyu ending second) and was happy the crown fit the aesthetic of his suit. besides being an absolute bitch when it comes to clothing, his soft laugh does ease people’s nerves more often than not.
☆ SEUNGKWAN
the gossiper. or in better words, the head of the journalism club who’s in charge of the weekly school newspaper and news forum on the school’s official website. seungkwan is, with no doubt, respected by all. truthfully, he’s a good student, so teachers often let him write in his journal for new articles during class. there’s one unofficial rule though– you have secrets? do not share them with him. you can, however, ask him about other people’s business, and as long as you give him something in return, he’s glad to talk your ears off. you’re safe if you’re his friend though, because there isn’t someone as loyal as seungkwan walking down the school hallways.
☆ VERNON
the skater enthusiast. he always walks around wearing big weird hoodies, holding onto his skate and if it's one of those days, a beanie and some funky shoes complete the outfit. his skate is like an extension of his hand but does he know how to skate though? absolutely not. his friends now have multiple bandaid and first aid kits in their lockers because vernon never bothers to buy any but spends most of his lunch breaks trying to learn new tricks– and subsequently failing. he’s a sweet kid but a bit of an airhead, often bumping into people and staring at the people talking at him until he realizes the reason he couldn’t hear them was because he still had his headphones on.
☆ DINO
the school’s unofficial cheerleader’s cheerleader. it was truly a tragic day when the cheerleading squad’s manager got fired for fraud– not because of the money (duh) but because of the now lost cheerleaders. dino used to do gymnastics when he was young so in his eyes, he was their last hope. he was a god at planning cheerleading practices and events and in less than a year, the squad managed to win back their spot as number one during the cheerleading season. the school’s reputation was restored and suddenly all the teachers loved him. dying his hair blonde during a celebration party was the last straw for many– his locker would be full of confession letters the weeks following.

The Cheerleader Curse
summary When you randomly show up at Eddie’s table, he takes your presence more malevolent than you intended

Tumblr media
Carol groans as Tina’s new boyfriend squeezes the meat of her hip. Turned away, he’s locked in a conversation with his teammate beside him.
“It’s sweet.” You defend.
“It’s nauseating, is what it is, I’m trying to eat here.” She takes a fry from your tray casually, popping it into her mouth.
Your nose scrunches, kicking her under the table with your white cheer sneaker. “Don’t be a bitch,” you take a handful off Tina’s boyfriends tray, dumping them onto hers. “Take his.”
She laughs loudly, biting into another one.
Tina’s boyfriend Derek turns, confused at the loudness of Carol’s laugh. “Girls.” Tommy shrugs, covering up your misbehavior. He too steals a fry from Carol’s plate, slinging his arm around her when he’s fit the whole thing in his mouth.
Tina’s shoe nudges yours. “You coming to my party this weekend?”
You dust your hands, chewing on a fry thoughtfully. “Um,” you swallow. “I think I have plans.”
Tina and Carol share a look. A dramatic, exasperated, look. “We never get to see you anymore.” Your best friend whines.
“You know we miss you at the parties.” Tina follows in suit.
You nod, understanding of their annoyance. “I just,” you sigh. “I promised I’d bring the boys to this the arcade, and we usually don’t leave till midnight.”
“Can’t Steve take em?” Tommy steals another fry. Carol swats him in the chest. “What?” He chews. “Boyfriend tax.”
“Steve works the late shift.” You shrug. “And it’s my weekend.”
“My weekend.” Tina imitates. “Why does everything always fall on your weekend?”
You frown, wary of the fallout between your friends. “He’s going through a lot.”
Tommy rolls his eyes, but his thoughts are kept quiet.
“He is.”
“We know,” Carol mumbles. “We know.”
Tina scrunches her nose at the interaction, unaware of the events that ripped Tommy, Carol, and Steve apart. “Well,” She shrugs. “If you get off the hook early you can show up.”
You nod, reaching down to pick your bag from the ground at the mention of the boys. “Of course,” you push from your seat. “I’ll be right back, don’t miss me.”
“We will.” Tina takes a fry from Derek’s plate. He doesn’t seem to mind.
The walk over to the boys table isn’t embarrassing, but it is uncomfortable. Your mind spins the whole cafeteria looking at you, wondering what is she doing? Why is she associating with them.
You flick Mike in the head when you reach. He doesn’t seem to mind, flicking your knee, but you look up guiltily anyways when you hear Eddie scoff.
“Hello?” He huffs, annoyed. This was a first. Sending a girl to do the terrorizing instead of Jason. Maybe he was absent, maybe he called you and asked can you do me a favor?
“Hi,” you nod at the older boy. You don’t know his age, but you where you are a first time senior, he is not. You don’t like the glare he fixes you with, sitting, waiting expectantly, like you’ll do something.
He’s pretty in his own way. Soft brown eyes, big curly hair. Any girl would be quick to swoon at his usual easy flirt personality.
Or maybe that’s just you.
You smile at him anyways while Dustin looks up from his picked at lunch tray.
“Hi, buddy.” Your warm hand glides over the Dustin’s cool forehead. He fusses as you smooth his curls.
“Stop,” he swats with the coolness of a teenager.
Eddie nearly jumps to scare you away, and he could. Dark black eyeliner, enough silver to shine a mile away, he’s easily intimidating. Especially when his face holds this expression of expectant distain.
Your eyes crinkle at Dustin’s flustered embarrassment. “How’re you, kid?” Its directed towards Mike and Dustin.
“Been better.” Dustin huffs at the same time Mike shrugs a fine.
You nod, hands stuffed into the oversized pockets of your varsity jacket as you roll on your heels. “You have Biology next?”
“Do you want to kill me?” Dustin shoulders droop.
“You normally love that class.”
“Not today,” he sighs, sickeningly morose as he looks up at you. “Can’t find my book anywhere.”
You frown. “That’s not good.”
He doesn’t react to the bluntness of the statement. “Tell me about it.”
“You check under your bed?” You tilt your head.
“And my moms.”
“Your backpack?”
“First place I checked, obviously.” The end of the sentence comes out with less attitude than he meant.
“Hmm,” you hum, Dustin doesn’t notice the glint in your eyes that Eddie does. “My car?” You smile.
His shoulders drop, relief and embarrassment mingling together clashingly. “You bozo.”
You pull it from the shoulder bag you currently carry. It thuds to the table loudly, but nobody outside the table seems to notice. “I know, you’re welcome.”
“Thank you.” He snatches the book quickly.
You smile. “Nobody’s trying to take it from you.”
Settling into your spot, you watch as Dustin shoves his book into his bag carelessly, and ignore the upset feeling of Eddie looking at you over the younger boys back. Searching the expression, you can’t find anything nice in it. Your tummy flips uncomfortably. “Well,” you nod to Dustin. “Don’t die before biology.”
“Noted,” he salutes, and you have to stop yourself from wrinkling your nose in cringe. Teen boys.
Eddie notices of course, his guard standing strong.
“Wait!” Dustin panics before you fully walk from the situation. “Steve can’t pick me up today.”
Harrington? Eddie thinks. The fuck is Dustin doing with Harrington?
“You need a ride?” You offer, but not really offer, cause you won’t let him decline.
“That-“
“I can give you a ride,” Eddie interrupts loudly, standing from his plastic seat. His fingertips push into the cold, sticky, table. “I’m not doing anything after school.”
And it’s not that you don’t trust Eddie, but who lets their children get in cars with strangers? Especially strangers in scary looking band tees.“Oh, it’s fine.” you look down at the geeky teen below you. “Right, Dustin?”
The younger boy nods. “It’s cool.”
“No, really,” Eddie continues, doing what he thinks is a favor to Dustin. “it’s no problem.”
Mike giggles from where he sits.
“Dude,” Dustin laughs confusedly. “It’s cool.”
And Eddie sits back down.
“Meet me at my car.” You point at the boys. “Don’t be late.”
And with that you turn, all the way back to your preferred table.
“That was weird.” Eddie laughs uncomfortably when you’re out of hearing distance. The whole table looks at him silently. “What?”
“We’re friends with her.” Mikes eyes zoom in. Eddie sweats.
“Didn’t you see her glare at me?” Eddie’s eyes scrunch in confusion. “And when have we ever associated with that group?”
“We’ve been through shit.” Dustin shrugs. “She’s cool.”
“And Harrington.”
Dustin shrugs again, hesitant with his next words. “He’s cool too.”
Jeff laughs loudly at Eddie. “You’re looking for a reason to be paranoid.”
“You sure your weed is clean?” Gareth chimes in teasingly.
“Fuck off.” Eddie sighs slumping in his seat. His eyes eyes lead back to you as the boys move on. He saw you glare. “They’re like a curse.”
“Who?” Gareth laughs.
“Them.” He waved dismissively towards you. “The cheerleaders.”
“She was nice.” Jeff shrugs.
“Nice until they’re not.” His head shakes seriously.
“Nice to look at.” Comes in Gareth quickly.
Jeff high fives him under the table, but Eddie ignores. The Cheerleader Curse.
A good campaign name.
“I don’t think Eddie likes me very much.” You sit back down at the table.
“The freak?” Carol asks. Tina side kicks her, shaking her head in don’t be mean.
“Yeah,” Your bag drops to the floor. “He was looking at me weird.”
“Maybe he wants in your pants.” Tommy shrugs, unconcerned. Carol swats him again.
“Gross,” She rolls her eyes. “But I did hear he has a reputation.” She pauses, glancing back at him. “Somehow.”
You look up at your friends. “What kind of reputation?”
“I heard he sleeps around.” Carol shrugs.
“I heard,” Tina chimes in, leaning into the group. “That he sells drugs in the woods.”
“He does.” Tommy shrugs. “He’s weird, but his weed isn’t shit.”
Tina sits back. “What’s his price?”
The conversation gets placed on back hold in your mind. Briefly, you debate looking back, ultimately turning to peek over your shoulder. What couldn’t he like about you? Had your nonexistent interaction turned him off of the idea of getting to know you?
For some funny reason, the thought sits in your gut uncomfortably.
“You good?” Carol reaches over the table to lightly pinch your arm. “We gotta call the Nurse?”
“No.” The shake of your head is adamant. “No, m’good.”
“Seriously,” Tommy shrugs. “He’s just weird, don’t let it bother you.”
You nod placid. “Yeah,” Your eyes flit to Eddie, before back to your friends again. “You’re right.”
“That’s my girl.” Tina’s knee knocks with yours.
You smile convincingly, nodding to your friends words. It’s hard for you to focus after that, mind clouded by the mean boy 6 tables away. You don’t look back again, don’t peek.
And somehow, Carol can see right through you.

darry simply Must have a letterman jacket based on how highly he prioritized sports and athletics in high school. he'd either get one gifted to him by the school for his achievements or save up enough to buy one himself (his dad pitches in what he can). he'd have pins from varsity football and weightlifting. he'd live in it his senior year (except during games, when he'd give it to his mom to wear because the stands get really cold). he stops wearing it as much when he doesn't earn a full ride sports scholarship. he boxed it up and shoved it in the furthest corner of the attic after his parents died.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was the end of finals week and the semester was coming to a close. Thanks to y/n, Azriel was passing every class this semester. It was bittersweet , yes, he was that much closer to graduating but now he wouldn't have a class with her anymore. When they returned from break there would be four new classes that they would carry out until the end of the school year. It was strange. He had been waiting for this moment for years but now... He wished graduation would come slower, these first months of school had flew by.
He could tell y/n had began to change, she wasnt as innocent as she had been at the start of the year. Was he selfish for that? Was he distracting her from her goals? From school? He didn't know if it was his imagination, or if she wore her school uniform skirt just a little bit higher now. She had started wearing lip gloss and mascara, made a few new girl friends. He was proud of her for coming out of her shell, as much as he had liked when he had her all to herself, his little bookworm nerd, his butterfingers. He just hoped... He wasnt corrupting her. He didnt think he could forgive himself if that was the case, but he couldn't seem to ever bring himself to have that conversation with her. And he definitely couldn't stay away either. They had been fucking for four months now, and he supposed, that she brought out a side of him too, he didn't care to admit it, but there was a soft spot he had for her. He also didn't care to admit, that he was going to miss her next week, she was going away with her parents for winter break to visit her grandparents.
Azriel was sitting in his chair in biology, chair tilted back as he waited for her to show up, a small smile threatened at his lips as he saw her standing outside the door, he noticed she was talking to someone and his face fell, brows furrowed slightly. Varsity jacket, only a little taller than her, sandy blonde hair, blue eyes... A football player. He couldn't remember his name, but he knew he was a junior, he had sold him weed multiple time. He was smiling down at her flirtatiously, Azriels blood ran hot, a blush creeping up his neck. Why is she still talking to him? He tapped his fingers vigorously against the table staring the boy down with pure hatred, one step out of line and Azriel would push him onto the floor and kick him in the ribs. Finally he waves once more and turns, walking away. There was only another couple of minutes before the bell would ring.
"Who was that?" he demands as she sits down, surprise flashes in her eyes at his harsh tone.
"Um, James?" she says, her tone unsure, she cocked her head slightly to the side as she looked up at him.
"And what did James, say?" he said his name with a slight tone of disgust as if it was hard to even get out.
"He asked me if you were my boyfriend," she says carefully, her eyes becoming guarded, its Azriel's turn to be surprised now as he waits for her to continue. "And I said I didnt know, but that I didnt think you did that sort of thing.. And then he invited me to a party tonight," she says quietly. Azriels own expression becomes guarded now, he avoided all conversations about labels and feelings at all cost. It was partly a defense mechanism for the trauma he had endured as a child. The abandonment issues that he had, the things he refused to fully face, it was easier to push those feelings down with substances and adrenaline rushes he would get from skating.
"Well are you going to go?" he finally asks, ignoring the whole first part of what she had said. It may have stung a little bit, but she was right anyway, what else was she supposed to say? He wasnt her boyfriend after all, that was a fact. Even if the lines of friendship seemed to blur more and more as of late between the two of them.
"I was going to see if you wanted to go with me?" she looks up at him from under those thick lashes and he softens, relief seeming to wash over him. Even if he knew it wasnt fair to keep her to himself like this, he knew she was probably only attached to him because he had taken her virginity, he couldn't help himself. She was the type of girl that was supposed to lose her virginity in college, the type of girl that has her nose always so far into a book that no one paid attention to her, the type that loses her virginity to an Ivy League boy that would sweep her off her feet and only make love to her after eleven dates or something like that. She deserved better than Azriel, and it was starting to burn a hole of guilt right through his gut, he was just some burn out kid that wasnt even wanted by his own parents. She was just blinded by his looks... And the pleasure he gave her.
"Well you aren't going alone butterfingers," he finally responded with before the bell rang, she only looked at him curiously, her brow slightly furrowed before she turned her attention to the teacher.
"Alright let's quiet down, get those dividers up, exams about to start," the teacher says, tapping the exams against his desk to line them up. "No phones, no talking, no cheating. When you're finished you may bring it straight up to me and I will dismiss each of you as you finish," he begins passing the exams out and Azriel lets out a small huff, suddenly it didn't seem so easy to focus on anything, let alone his exam.
-
When the time came for Azriel to pick her up from her house, he leaned against his car outside her house, taking drags from his cigarette as he watched the door, waiting for her to appear. His cigarette nearly dropped right from his lips when she exited her house, his brows raising in surprise.
At his surprised expression, she began rambling. "Oh god, it's too much isn't it? I told Maggie it was too much but she didnt listen and then she left to go get ready because you were coming to get me and I should go change, Ive never worn anything like this I can't wear-"
"No, you look..." he rubbed the back of his neck, searching for the right words, he couldn't find them. "Perfect," he finally mumbled stupidly, her cheeks blazed at his words. Despite the cold weather, she was wearing a short tight low rise black skirt exposing her hip bones, her bare torso was also exposed from the white crop top she was wearing, the only thing to keep her warm was the boots she wore along with a cropped fuzzy jacket. Her hair was pulled into a high ponytail a black ribbon tied around it, her lips were red and glossy, and seeing her like this... It made his chest tighten, and his stomach turn because he knew that every single boy that had always only overlooked her as an annoying know it all that upstaged everyone in class, would see her in a different light tonight, they would see how special she was. She was a fucking star, and standing next to him he knew she would shine even brighter.
If they didnt have somewhere to be, he would have brought her back upstairs and fucked her perfect pouty little mouth. His throat bobbed and he turned, opening the passenger side door for her. "Come on, butterfingers," he gave her that little uneven smirk that he knew made her knees weak and watched her get into his car, licking his lips as he did.
This was a first for Azriel, leaving parties with someone was normal for him, but showing up with someone? Definitely a first. He had never felt this way with anyone, and he knew he was fucking up, he knew the longer he let this drag out, the harder it would be for both of them. He was too selfish to stop now. They rode in silence, and he could tell she was nervous as she hadn't stopped fidgeting since she entered the car. He smoked a spliff as they drove, offering it to her but she declined, saying that it would only make her even more nervous. When they pulled up Azriel reached into his glove box and pulled out a small bottle, tossing his head back and taking at least two shots. "Liquid courage?" he asks, that same half smirk plastered onto his face again.
"Okay," she agrees and takes the small bottle from him, taking a small swig and struggling to swallow, she coughs, her nose scrunching in distaste. "How do you drink this so easily?" she asks, earning a laugh from him, he just shrugs and takes it again having another long swig, more than half of the bottle gone now. He hands it back for her to try again, and she does, her sip just a little bigger this time, she shakes her head as if trying to shake it off, her nose scrunching again. Azriels heart melted, his chest warming with his unidentified feelings and the liquor he was drinking.
"Lots of practice. Come on butterfingers," he chuckles quietly and gets out of the car walking around to the other side to open the door for her. They could already hear the noise from the party. Music, kids yelling and laughing in the distance, she looked sick with nerves. "You okay?" he raises a brow, holding his tattooed hand out for her to grab. She looks down at it before grabbing it and getting out of the car, looking up at him with a look of uncertainty.
"I should have changed," she mumbles, self consciously folding her arms over her exposed stomach. "I look ridiculous," she adds, rolling her eyes.
"You think you look ridiculous. And I think Im not going to be able to leave your side tonight because everyones going to want to fuck you in there, but I'm fucking you, so its up for them," he grins lazily, his eyes low and glassy from the spliff and the near half of a bottle he had just drank. She looked a little surprised at his openness, he had only been drunk around her once before, that night she had ignored him and he climbed into her window.
"You're not helping if you think you are," she rubs her arm and he just shrugs, putting his arm over her shoulder. He figured, walking in like that, should get the message across.
"I promise, you are going to survive this," he turns to say it in her ear, he feels her body shiver against him. He loved that, he loved how easy it was to get to her, to make her need him. She doesn't say anything else though, she just walks by his side, awkwardly dropping her arms before they reached the door. James is the one to open it, and Azriel tenses as James drinks her in from top to bottom, his eyes pausing on all her exposed skin.
"Y/n, Im so glad you made it," he grins at her, she blushes, Azriels blood gets hotter, his arm sliding down to her back, pressing in gently. He knew she blushed easily, but it pissed him the fuck off that she blushed for him. "Aaaand you brought the plug," he's not as excited sounding as he says this, his eyes drifting to Azriel. Azriel tilts his chin up slightly as if to remind James who would win if he decided to piss Azriel off enough to fight him. Despite James being a foot ball player, Azriel had been defending himself since he was in diapers, not many could compare to that.
"The wha-" she starts to say, of course she wouldn't know what that means.
"Come on," Azriel pushes her slightly, past James who was trying to say something else to her. He was well aware of all the eyes on them, on her mostly, but again he had never arrived somewhere with a girl before.
"Azriel, I think everyone is staring at us," she whispered, and he could feel her shaking, clutching the small bag she had brought. "I knew I should have changed..." he ignores her, continuing to push through the crowd until they reached the kitchen where there was a keg and solo cups, he poured them each a beer, and chugged his own before refilling it again.
"I don't like him," Azriel informs her taking another sip out of his fresh beer. "He's corny as fuck Id advise you stay away," he shrugs and watches as she sips her own, her nose scrunching again, he softens, smiling down at her and shaking his head.
"I can't believe you drink this for fun," she mumbles, looking down at the cup with distaste. "It does work fast though, I think Im tipsy," she laughs and then looks back up to him. "Why did he call you the plug?" she asks as they start walking through the many bodies, people were still glancing, but not as much anymore.
"It means I sell things," he says simply before adding. "Like weed and stuff," he shrugs and she nods in understanding, but doesn't comment. They find a couch and Azriel sits, pulling her down next to him. They sat for a couple hours, leaving only to get drinks or use the bathroom. Maggie had greeted them briefly but disappeared with the guy she was talking to shortly after. They were just talking, laughing, watching the fuckery of a high school party unfold before them.
"So this is what you do? Just sit here and watch?" she asks Azriel as he rolls himself another spliff. She was drunk now for sure, her words slurring slightly, her hazy eyes fixed on his mouth while he licked the spliff to seal it.
"And get fucked up," he adds and laughs softly, glancing back at her.
"You got any beans bro?" A male voice interrupts them and Azriel looks up from where he's sitting, he tucks his spliff behind his ear and looks back over at her before scanning the room for Maggie who was nowhere to be found. He stands up then, turning to face her.
"Don't move until I come back, okay?" he asks, his eyes meeting hers, she was too drunk. He shouldn't leave her... But he did have a whole bag of ecstasy in his pocket that had been burning a hole in his pocket since he got here.
"Where are you going?" concern flashes across her features and she furrows her brow.
"I'll be right back just don't move," he repeated before turning back to one of his regular customers. "Not here," he shrugs and walks past him, leading him to a more quiet corner of the house. Azriel pulls out the bag of colorful pills.
"Four," he says and holds his hand out.
"Money first dumbass," Azriel rolls his eyes, this was already taking too long and he thought about her sexy, drunk, body alone on the couch for display.
"Sorry man Im fuckin toast right now," he laughs but Azriel doesn't even crack a smile, he just shoves the money in his pocket and hands him four pills, not even saying as much as a goodbye as he walks passed him back to the living room.
Azriel stops in his tracks when he sees that she's not where he left her. He frantically scanned the room, searching for her small frame, but he didnt see her. He advanced toward the kitchen and didnt find her there either, the only other place he could think of was the bathroom.
His heart almost stopped at the sight before him, there she was, in the hallway leading to the bathroom. Jealousy gnawed at his gut as he stared furiously.
"Why don't you go to parties more often? you look so damn good. You're too damn pretty to be wasting your time with that burn out, he probably makes you do all his homework," James is standing over her, his arms are on either side of her and he's blocking her against the wall. She's frozen in fear, cowering back against the wall, hugging her body.
Azriels blood runs hot, anger coursing through his veins, in seconds he's behind him. "Get the fuck away from her," Azriel growls from deep in his throat and yanks him back by his collar so hard that James stumbles back, the back of his head colliding with the wall on the other side of the hallway. She lets out a little scream, her hand flying to her mouth. James stumbles to his feet ready to attack Azriel but he swings first, his fist connecting with James' face blood gushes from his nose and a cut from Azriels rings.
"Azriel," she shouts, grabbing his shirt and trying with all her strength to yank him back, people had began gathering and recording and she yanked him again, James was coughing and just repeatedly blubbering "he broke my nose, he broke my fucking nose."
"It's not broken you fucking idiot you're just a pussy," Azriel spits at his feet. "You are so fucking lucky though I swear, you better stay the fuck out of my way at school," he tilts his chin up, staring down at James with disgust.
"Azriel we have to go!" She repeats and yanks on his arm again, he reluctantly turns following her out of the party quickly. As soon as they reach his car he nearly slams her against it, pinning her between his body and the door.
Azriel slams his lips against her, kissing her like he had never kissed anyone before, seeing her with someone else, even if she didnt want him, just seeing her that close to someone else... It made him realize something, he liked this girl, as more than a friend. And as wrong and scary that might be, he was too drunk and stubborn to even truly acknowledge what that even meant.
She gasped softly, her lips parting and he slipped his tongue past them, his hands feeling roughly anywhere that they could. "If he ever comes near you again I'll blind that little bitch," he he growled against her lips, making her moan, her fingers were curled around the back of his neck nails digging deliciously into his skin, her other hand was gripping his side tightly underneath his shirt. He held her face with one hand, pushing his tongue deeper into her mouth, savoring her sweet taste and he moaned in approval against her lips. He had never kissed anyone so hungrily in his life, it was as if he could never get enough of her, and seeing her so close to someone else made him want to remind her why she was by his side in the first place. "Im going to make you cum over and over tonight," he promised, his breaths ragged against her lips, she was panting and he could feel her heart beating fast against him. He stepped back, pulling her with him and opened the car door for her. "Get in," he grunts softly, gently pushing her to get into the car.
-
"Im drunk," she giggles softly, watching Azriel roll a spliff, his seat leaned all the way back. They had just pulled up to his house and were still sitting in the car.
"I know," he chuckles quietly, he was in a better mood now, due to the fact that she had been belting out the lyrics to every song that had come on the radio on the drive back to his house, and not only that but her head had been out the window.
"Can I ask you something?" she becomes more serious now, he looks up at her as he licks the spliff, but her eyes are on his hands. He raises his brows and just nods, the only light on her face was the soft glow from the streetlights, she was breathtaking he thought. "How did you get those-" she hesitates as if not wanting to say it out loud, he was sure she only gained the courage to ask because of the alcohol running through her veins.
"The scars?" he asks and she nods, he glances down at his hands, and then back to her eyes. He debated on whether or not to tell her, only Rhys and Cass had heard this story. She was staring up at him innocently, waiting, her eyes were glassy, cheeks flushed from the alcohol in her system. He sighed softly, turning his body back toward the steering wheel as he lights his spliff. Azriel knew this was one of those things you just don't make eye contact when you speak about it. "When I was in middle school," he started, bringing the spliff to his lips, he could feel her eyes on him, "I used to steal my dads cigarettes and sell them at school," he admits and smiles sheepishly, stealing a glance, she was looking at him with disapproval.
"Anyway," he laughs before continuing, smoking while he did as he watched the flicker of the streetlight. "He caught me one day, and he was so fuckin pissed," he shakes his head, absentmindedly running his fingers through his hair with his free hand. "He whipped my hands with hot wire, he took it straight outta the fire pit," He says, recalling the night easily since it was one of the more traumatic things he had endured, it had gone on for hours he remembered. He had whipped him once and made him stay still there a hot rag draped over his hands while he heated up the wire again. Over and over reiterating to Azriel that he was not to steal from him. If he moved, if he let his hands drop as his arms had been aching and threatening to give out from holding them for so long his dad would smack him across the face so hard that he would nearly fall to the floor. It had gone late into the night, until Azriels hands were so burned and bleeding that he had fallen asleep in a cold bath that night, a chair propped against the bathroom door to keep his father out.
"Azriel..." Her voice cracked and he turned toward her, spliff hanging from his lips. Tears were rolling down her red cheeks, black streaks of mascara running with them. She was crying for him, for what he went through. This intelligent, beautiful, ambitious and strong young woman was crying for him. His gut reeled, despite the alcohol guilt still churned in his gut as he thought about the conversation he was avoiding.
"It's okay, Im okay, you don't have to do that," he shook his head putting the spliff out before swiping away her tears with his thumbs. He then leans over the car pulling her into is arms, holding onto her tightly, another thing that he didnt normally do.
-
"You're drinking more?" she asks, her jacket and shoes now on the floor by Azriels door as she had discarded them more carelessly than she normally would have. He had discarded his shirt, and went downstairs upon their arrival, making himself a whiskey on the rocks before returning to her.
"Im thirsty," he says, looking down at her hungrily, her breasts pressed against the thin fabric of her shirt, revealing her nipples to him. She blushes, her eyes raking over his tattoos, her teeth gently biting down on her lower lip.
"You wanna try something butterfingers?" he asks, his voice low and husky, she quickly nods, like she usually does when he asks if she wants to try something. He loved how eager she was to please him. "Take it all off then," he growls softly, not peeling his eyes away for even a second while he continued to finish his drink. He watched her undress, his cock straining and aching in his pants like it had been for most of the night, all he had to do was look at her and all the blood and heat in his body would go straight to his cock. Needing her.
She fumbles clumsily with her clothing, her breathing heavy as she stares up at him with heavy lids. She bares herself to him, spreading her legs slowly as her eyes lock with his. Despite the alcohol, he knew months ago she never would have spread her legs for him like this, not without the light being off at least.
"Im so proud of you, youve gotten to be such a good girl since we started," he says, licking his lips before he downs the rest of his drink, leaving nothing but the ice in his glass. Azriel was definitely a freak, though, not many girls at all had been able to bring that side out of him. Y/n got everything.
He sucks an ice cube in his mouth, setting the glass on his night stand before he hovered over her, gently sliding the ice cube and his cold lips across her jawline. She gasps, her hands flying down to grip the sheets, her chest rising and falling. He slips the ice down her throat and over her chest, causing her back to arch, a whimper leaving her lips as he circles the ice cube around her hard nipple. It was melting against her warm skin. She writhed underneath him, trying to get any friction that she possibly could. He spit the ice into the center of her breasts when it was just a small pebble before retrieving another cube. He held it in his lips again, working her other nipple around and around with the cold ice cube, she moaned again, tugging hard at his sheets as her body wiggled beneath him.
"Azriel please," she begs quietly, desperate for him to keep going. He hums quietly as if to answer her and slides the ice cube down the center of her stomach, her breath shudders as he holds her hips still. He slides the ice on either side of her throbbing pussy, her hips fighting against him as she whined and pleaded with him for more.
"I love your little cunt," he grunts softly staring down at her throbbing glistening pussy, her arousal dripping from her at this point. He retrieves another ice cube, holding it in his teeth again and he leans down between her legs, gently dipping the ice into her opening, she cries out, pulling the sheets tighter, her knuckles going white. She tries to pull away, but he holds her tighter, pinning her legs open on the bed so she was spread wide for him. He moans softly and pushes the ice cube into her licking up and down her pussy over and over again until it melted and then he wrapped his lips around her clit sucking softly.
"Azriel," she cried out, her body jerking with each shock of her orgasm as he continued to lick her and suck her through it.
"Good girl," he praised and sat up a little bit, marveling at her release that dripped from her pussy. She only whimpered in response, her breaths ragged and heavy. He slid his finger inside her, wiggling it back and forth so he hit that special spot every time, his rough fingers were perfect for it. "Come on baby, let me get another one," he breaths out his voice raspy as he watches her intently. His words were enough to make her cum again, her body shook with pleasure and she screamed his name before her mouth dropped in the sexiest O he had ever seen in his life. He buried his face between her legs again, licking up all of her release, she was squirming and pushing and fighting to get away before she gave in, letting him lick her over sensitive pussy to orgasm one more time before he flipped her over and fucked her. He whispered to tell her how good she was, his lips against her ear making shivers go down her spine as he fucked her into complete oblivion.
He held her against his chest when they finally finished, his fingers gently stroking her hair, his head slightly pulled back so he could admire her.
"I love you Azriel," she mumbled drunkly right before she drifted off to sleep, his fingers froze in her hair, a tight knot forming in his throat and he tried to swallow it. He gently slipped out from under her, lifting the blanket over her naked body before stumbling across the room to the small couch in his room, his eyes not leaving her.
He had let this go on too long. He had let this whole situation get way out of hand, he had made her fall in love with him, he was unloveable, he was unreachable. A relationship between them just wasnt possible, she deserved so much better than him, someone with a life and a future, someone with a family like hers. Azriel leaned back on the sofa, staring up at the ceiling, he didnt get a wink of sleep that night his mind raced and his heart ached for what he knew he had to do in the morning.
-
I woke up in the morning a grin quickly finding its way onto my face as I deeply inhaled Azriels familiar scent, I knew what bed I was in. A blush crept onto my cheeks next as I peered at the cup with just a little water in it from the ice that had melted. It was a little fuzzy, but I definitely remembered, and the dull ache and throb between my legs reminded me that it was all very real. I turned around, expecting my arm to land on Azriel but I was met with a cold empty pillow, my brows furrowed in confusion and I quickly sat up, pulling the blanket over my chest when I saw him sitting across from me on the small sofa at the opposite side of his room.
"What are you doing over..." I trailed off, my voice faltering when I beheld the expression on his face. He was looking at me with that same cold, blank, guarded expression that he gave to every body else.
"Y/n," he said my name slowly, absolutely no emotion leaking from his words, my heart sank into my gut, settling like a rock there. "I want you to know, that what Im about to do, has nothing to do with you." he continues, and he was so serious, that I knew what was coming, tears threatened to spill from my eyes.
"Please don't..." I manage to choke out, he looks away for a second, his throat slowly bobbing before he seems to compose himself again, his eyes locking mine with that same cold and distant expression.
"Ive let this go on for far too long," he continues carefully, a small sob escapes from my throat and I feel like I can't move, I feel like im frozen in a nightmare.
"What did I do wrong?" Tears are running down my cheeks now, blurring my vision as I rack my brain for anything I could have done last night that would cause this. Bile rises in my throat, horror settling in as I remember what I said to him before I fell asleep. I had told him I loved him. Embarrassment washes over me as I realize how stupid I was for doing so, my hand flies to my mouth, covering up another soft sob.
"I told you, this has nothing to do with you... I just I can't do this y/n... I can't have a relationship with you. That's not me. You deserve better than anything I can ever give to you," he continues carefully, his hands wrapped around his knees, gripping them as if to keep from fidgeting. My heart felt like it was cracked in two, my chest physically ached. I yank off the covers, scrambling to dress myself, silent tears spilling from my cheeks. "But we can be friends still butterfingers, just minus the sex part. I want to be your friend, that's why Im doing this," his tone had softened a bit, and he was on his feet now too, looking worried.
"I have to go," I choked out, quickly putting my shoes on. "My parents are going to be waiting for me," I muttered. The last thing I wanted to do was visit my grandparents right now.
"I'll drive you," he swallows, reaching for his keys. I stared up at him one last time, searching his eyes. The guarded expression was gone, replaced by a pleading one.
"No, Im going to walk," I turned and left, all but running out of his house.
He didnt chase after me.

A custom varsity jacket is a great fit for those colder Canadian winters. These jackets are made from a soft poly cotton fleece which makes them a good choice in a pinch. The varsity jacket has all the perks of a quality collegiate apparel brand without the hefty price tag. To keep the cost down, we do not use logos or embroidered trim.
However, there are still some things you can do to ensure that your letterman tuxedo or varsity jacket will get the respect it deserves. First and foremost, don't forget to measure your waist. If you have a larger chest than your waist, you'll need to shave off a few inches before you can even think about purchasing a custom varsity jacket. This is an easy fix that can be accomplished at home.
Embroidery
Custom embroidery on a varsity jacket is a great way to show team spirit at an after game celebration. Whether your organization has a small or large membership, these jackets are a great way to display your pride and team spirit. Embroidered varsity jackets are great for fraternities and service clubs as well. They are also a good option for businesses looking to stand out in the crowd.
One of the best embroidered jackets you will find on the market today is produced by a reputable manufacturer known as LogoSportswear. These jackets are made with a top notch quality of material as well as craftsmanship. In addition to the more conventional options, the company offers a plethora of customized designs.
Embroidered varsity jackets come in a variety of styles from Sport-TekA(r) to quilted linings.
Applique printing
Varsity jackets are an iconic item of American culture. These jackets have been around for almost two hundred years. They are also used by athletes to promote team spirit. Today, they are available in a variety of designs and materials.
Applique printing is an option for custom varsity jackets. This process involves embroidering the outer edges of a piece of fabric with a satin stitch. It is a much more formal approach than screen printing. While it is not ideal for hats, it can be good for more detailed logos.
Applique is a type of needlework, which can be done by hand or by machine. It is often found on baseball jerseys, hoodies, and uniforms. You can choose to applique your team's letter on the front or a name and number on the back.
Coastal Reign
If you are looking for an easy way to boost the morale of your squad, then you are in luck. Custom printed varsity jackets are a great way to get your message across. It is also a good way to show off your team's logo. You can go all out by creating an allover print on your favorite jacket.
One of the first companies to come to mind when it comes to varsity jackets and other wearables is Coastal Reign. This company boasts a small staff of design gurus and a state-of-the-art printing facility in Toronto, Canada. The company ships to the U.S. and Canada within five to seven days. They accept checks, credit cards, and PayPal.
Using a company like Coastal Reign can be a great way to save time and money. While they are not the cheapest printers around, they are among the best in the business.
Personalized varsity jackets
Custom varsity jackets are a great way to show your school spirit. Whether you're a student athlete, captain of the team, or just a fan, you can get a varsity jacket to represent your school.
When choosing a varsity jacket, you may want to consider your style and your team's colors. Whether you're a baseball or football player, you can get a varsity jacket that has your school's mascot and the name of the school printed all over the jacket. In addition, you can customize the jacket's collar by using a white zip tape or black ribbing.
Varsity jackets also come in a variety of sizes. Typically, they are purchased in the junior or senior year of high school. But you can order a varsity jacket for the younger set, too. Personalized varsity jackets for kids are comfortable and stylish.

★ part 1 of an ongoing series ★
Tumblr media
you hated ajax and ajax hated you. that much was safe to say. ever since that incident in 9th grade, you never talked to him, let alone acknowledged him. before that, you both had known each other since elementary school. everybody loved ajax, his teachers, his peers, and even you. he just had that personality that made everyone love him; but you knew him underneath that persona. you knew his flaws and he knew yours. he’d tell you things he’d never tell anyone, he trusted you. but, all good things come to an end. in the summer going into your first year at highschool, you found yourself never wanting to speak to him again. he ultimately became the person you two would make fun of together in prior years. a typical, white, football player. but damn was he a good running back. he used to be so charming, but now he was just a playboy that had a new girl in his bed every week. you hated him for it, you hated the person he became, but you mostly hated how he’d plague your mind like a disease.
the day of the game finally came. you and kaveh both wore your school’s varsity jackets and jeans. you guys trudged the god foresaken orange gatorade cooler out to the field for the junior varsity and freshman team. the jv game had just finished, and you began setting up for the varsity game.
“y/n, i can tell you’re scared about ajax.”
“wow kaveh, you’re sooo observant.” you said sarcastically as you both were now in the utility room, filling the water bottles for the players.
“listen, you probably won’t even have to talk to him. as much as he likes to talk behind your back, he’s scared of you. you literally know EVERYTHING about him, you could ruin his reputation in milliseconds.” kaveh had a point. you knew his deepest and darkest secrets, but he unfortunately knew yours as well. you screwed the last lid of the water bottle on tighter than usual as you responded.
“thanks kaveh, but promise me you’ll be the one giving him his water, not me.” kaveh laughed as you said this.
“i’d actually be more than happy too! he’s pretty fine anyways…”
“kaveh— please.” you sighed as kaveh only laughed louder. you walked out to the field, the sky a pretty hue of pink as the jv players left and students filed in the bleachers for the real game. you made your way to the bench, right next to the field and placed the water bottle trays down, as cheering filled the stadium, you both looked behind you.
“ladies and gentlemen, please welcome, our undefeated, five-time league winners, the varsity football team!” the announcer said as the cheers only got louder. the varsity boys ran onto the field, ajax leading the team. you rolled your eyes. you’d admit, he looked good in the navy blue and white jersey, adorning the number 11. ajax was the captain and star of the team, his stats practically outdid any other running back in the county. he ranked first for almost every category, he was a good running back, you’d give him that at least. but at that moment, a feeling came over you. you felt jealous. jealous of the new cheerleader girl he was seeing, jealous of his success, you irrevocably hated him.
“god alhaitham looks good.” kaveh said, very much distracted when they began to sing the national anthem.
“you’re shameless, kaveh.”
“well, the national anthem definitely did not include gay people so…”
the game began, and the annoying and repetitive chants from the cheerleaders almost got stuck in your head. they even had a special one for their glorious star boy tartaglia! you could give zero fucks about him and his stupid chant, but you couldn’t help but notice him staring you down as the rival team took a time out. he gulped his water, sweat dripping from his slicked-back hair, before returning back to the field. as promised, it was kaveh’s job to offer him water, not yours. when one team scored, the other followed suit, the game was neck and neck. watching ajax skillfully receive alhaitham’s (the quarterback) throws and run it was something you could watch all day. but you hated him, so you pretended to look busy every time the home team ran a point. it was halftime now, and you and kaveh hung around the bench. they were up by only two points, it was practically anyone’s game, but that’s what makes the epic highs and lows of highschool football, right?
“swear to god, ajax keeps looking at you.” kaveh whispered to you as you refilled the green water bottles. the boys went into the team room as you and kaveh stayed outside. ajax’s fan girls in the stands had finally calmed down. you just looked at him and looked away as you continued to fill up the water. “like, every time he scores a touch down, he’ll do his stupid little celebration and he’ll glance over here—and then i’d look at you, and of course—‘oh, she’s trying to look distracted and pretend to not care again!’.” kaveh rolled his eyes at you, looking at you for an answer. “you still care about him, don’t you?” this time, you didn’t look at him and just stared at the bottle.
“yeah, like i’d give two shits about the school fuck boy. it’s just, i can’t help but remember how he used to be, that’s all.” it was a blatant lie, and kaveh knew. but he decided to stop pressing where it hurts. and just like that, half time was over and the team looked spent, but they still had 30 minutes to clutch. the cheers started up again. another touchdown, and chants of his name were the only things heard in the stadium. you felt surrounded. you just wanted to go home.
finally, the seventh minute began. the scoreboard emitting a soft glow displayed both home and away teams tied. everyone on the bleachers were all sat for these final minutes. including you. you watched intently with kaveh and your sports med teacher on the bench as they hiked the ball.
“alhaitham, number 9 is going for a throw,” the commentator’s voice reverberated through the field. alhaitham spots ajax, right on the 30 yard line, centered on the field. alhaitham takes a couple steps back and throws, the ball spins with accuracy. the crowd and kaveh all cheer.
“a dot! per usual from quarter back alhaitham, how many yards can their star running back score for the team!” ajax grabbed the ball and went for a right hook, swiftly dodging the defenders. he only got faster and faster as the cheers grew louder. he hooked right, and made his way for that touch down line.
“ajax! ajax! ajax!” the crowd chanted as kaveh and your teacher were now standing. you watched him closely, all of a sudden remembering back to when the two of you competed in your middle school’s flag football tournament. he had signed you up without you knowing, and you both somehow cinched first place.
“oh my god—” kaveh’s gasp snapped you out of your thoughts, as you looked onto the field.
the bleachers were silent now. ajax laid on his side, clutching his knee. the ball was long forgotten now.
“it appears number 11 is down.” the commentator remarked. your heart sank to your ass. you knew that knee injuries could fuck up anyone’s career in seconds. especially a running back’s. before you knew it, you were standing, your teacher yelled something to kaveh as he began running toward him to see what happened, you stood frozen. the cries of his fan girls behind you were the only things you could hear, kaveh was trying to tell you something, but you kept looking at ajax’s writhing body and back to kaveh, and back to ajax, and now at the rival team, and back to kaveh.
“y/n! are you listening? this is serious!” kaveh’s voice was almost a yell.
“i-i’m sorry, what do you need me to do?” you blinked a couple times.
“get the ice pack!” he yelled as kaveh made his way to the scene, the rival team went back to their bench as they were in small groups, most likely talking about what happened. you grabbed the ice pack from the cooler and ran over. his eyes were screwed shut as he cursed loudly, your teacher asking where it hurt.
“ah fuck, my knee! motherfu—” ajax bit back his curses with the back of his hand. your teacher radioed for a golf cart, which made you confused because you’d think someone would be calling 911.
“shouldn’t we be calling an ambulance..?” alhaitham asked, kneeling next to kaveh and ajax’s head. kaveh visibly looked flustered.
“y-yeah. we should! as a matter of fact, why don’t i just call them right—” your teacher cut kaveh off as he interjected.
“it’s a torn acl, if we call an ambulance right now, all they’ll do is give him some ice and painkillers which we very much have. we’re not spending 6k for an ice pack. save that money for the surgery.” your teacher remarked.
“the what..?” ajax looked at him with wide eyes as a campus supervisor came with a golf cart, the crowd was at a stand still.
“kaveh, stay here and take over for me. y/n, come with me.” you knew ajax’s injury was nothing life threatening, but you couldn’t help but worry for his future. you nodded your head as you and your teacher got into the front seat of the golf cart, cursing kaveh in your head, wishing it was him to take your place. ajax’s teammates carefully laid him on the golf cart and he cursed at them to be more careful. you rolled your eyes.
“ajax, we’re gonna need you to talk to us, we can’t have you passing out.” your teacher drove the golf cart to the recovery room, making sure to drive slowly over any bumps.
“you want me to talk? well, a torn acl is gonna ruin my goddamn career—fuck!” the golf cart jerked forward a little, making him curse.
“it’s probably not completely torn, ajax. you’ll recover in no time.” your teacher said.
“you’ll probably be out for the season.” you added, you couldn’t help but add a little salt in the wound.
“you’ll be out for the fucking year if you don’t shut the fuck up.” ajax snapped back at you.
“you need some ice dipshit?” you turned around with the ice pack and tossed it onto his knee, making him yell out in pain.
“what the FUCK is wrong with you—” he yelped in pain again, you just rolled your eyes.
“y/n! cut it out! you too, ajax. we’re here.” the teacher took the key out of the golf cart and looked at you. “i need to call his parents and file a report for the insurance, i’m trusting you to patch any cuts and tape his knee for the time being. keep the ice on it—and please don’t assault him.” your teacher was already on their way as they headed towards the office. you didn’t even get a minute to protest.
“no fucking way they just left me with this loser.” ajax scoffed from the back seat of the golf cart.
“at least my knee still works.” you grabbed the key and unlocked the recovery room, it had a couple of medical beds and cabinets filled with all kinds of medical equipment. you turned the lights on as you heard ajax outside yell.
“now you’re just leaving me? jesus, i couldn’t have asked for someone better to help me.” you ignored him as that was not what you were doing. you went to the smaller room in the back to get a wheelchair to get him onto one of the beds. you walked back outside, ajax’s face turned from one of pain to an angered look the minute you stepped outside. you wheeled the wheel chair to him.
“get on.” you said with little to no remorse.
“yeah let me just fly onto the fucking wheel chair why not. can you help me?” ajax yelled as he tried to sit up straight on the back seat. you scoffed and somehow got him onto the wheel chair. you both were silent, but you knew when ajax went quiet, he was overthinking. you knew he was thinking about what he’d do with his injury. you decided to give him something else to think about.
“it’s not that bad ajax. you survived skateboarding into a brick wall, i’m sure you’ll be fine.” you brought up an old memory the both of you shared.
“everyone saw. even the fucking scouters—i’m done for.” your words seemed to fly past his head. almost like he forgot about you and his’ history. you helped him onto the medical bed and made him sit straight so you could tape his knee. you went into the back room to get more ice. from the main room, you heard him start talking again.
“when i ran into that brick wall, you were the only one there. i didn’t have scouters that could get me d1 scholarships.” he remarked. he did remember at least. you came back with a roll of medical tape and some ice.
“you need to roll you pants up past your knee.” you went for the straight forward route as anything else would’ve gotten too awkward.
“yeah no fucking way that’s happening, cut it off for all i care.” you figured getting the leg of the pants over his injury wouldn’t be the most best of things, so you grabbed a pair of scissors and cut his pants just above his thigh. he hissed in pain even though you didn’t even touch it. he was always this dramatic, you thought to yourself. you unrolled the pieces of tape and got to work. if ajax was good at football, you were the best at sports medicine. you knew how to wrap an ankle like second nature—a big part of the reason why your teacher asked you to assist, not kaveh. he went quiet again, and you’d much rather have him yelling at you than overthinking the situation after all this.
“how’s teucer?” you asked as he hissed whenever you’d place a piece of tape on his knee.
“w-why do you care? can you be any more gentle?” you looked up at him and kept working. you weren’t any gentler, you just worked slower to make it look like you were. he fell for it easily.
“he’s fine. he just graduated elementary—ow, school.” he responded after a minute passed.
“that’s good.” you said in quieter-than-usual tone. you couldn’t deny it was still awkward between you two. you hadn’t had a conversation like this in practically years, and you never thought you would have to. “so what exactly happened out there? you trip or something?” you knew he didn’t trip. you also knew that ajax had a tendency to overestimate himself, overall causing him more harm than good.
“the turf must’ve been off.” he said looking away. ajax was well aware he let himself get cocky. it was the final minutes of the game and he wanted to end it off strong. in doing so, he got himself a torn acl. good going ajax.
“mhm..”
“what? don’t believe me?” before you could answer the question, your teacher walked in. the first thing ajax asked was if they won the game or not. his “half touchdown” didn’t count, leaving them still tied.
“we won. but it was still a close call.”
ajax looked like a weight had been lifted off of his shoulders. he was already upset with his injury, and a loss especially with their title as undefeated would be 10x worse. you tried to look normal, but in truth, you were a little happy for the team. after all, you had some sense of school pride.
“your mom is outside. i’ve talked to her already and explained the injury in length. please focus on resting, then let’s talk about your next games.” with that, your teacher left you both alone again.
“can you walk?” you asked.
“i’ll try.” he said wincing as he got up. you went to his side and put his arm around you. it was silent. you helped him to the parking lot, occasional swears were heard from him. you said his mom waiting outside of the car.
“oh sweetie!” ajax’s mom held him tightly.
“hi mom, i’m fine.” his words were muffled into her shoulder.
“oh goodness, let’s get you in the car!” she helped him into the passanger seat. they spoke to each other in russian, it sounded like he was getting scolded. it was none of your business anyway. after doing so, she came back out.
“y/n? i remember you!” she said, giving you a hug.
“hi mrs tartaglia.” ajax’s mom had a soft spot for you. she’d always pack you extra food, and would never fail to treat you like one of her own, it made you happy. due to the circumstances, you hadn’t seen her in what felt like years.
“how’ve you been? we’ve missed you!” her hand stayed on your shoulder, her voice was genuine. but who exactly did she mean by “we”?
“i’ve been alright, thanks for asking.”
“ajax still talks about you, you should come over some time! teucer and tonia miss you!”
huh?
did you hear that right?
maybe it she didn’t actually mean it like that, why would ajax still be talking about you?
ajax rolled down the window and stuck his head out.
“mom i’m hurting let’s go.” he half shouted.
“alright, alright. i’ll see you soon hopefully, y/n! thank you for looking after ajax!” she said with a warm smile as she got back in the car before you could say a word. you simply waved and smiled back at her. you glanced over for a second, seeing ajax on his phone. you didn’t understand. did ajax really stil talk about you? you’d have a lot to tell kaveh..
the two of them left the parking lot in their black tahoe suv. you just stood and watched. you cursed to yourself. you couldn’t understand why ajax’s words pulled at your heartstrings a little. you were confused. and things would only get more confusing from there.

“Detention, Miss Curtis.”
Ms. Sinatra hands her a now familiar pink slip, shaking her head in a way that’s more disappointed than surprised, and Pony does her best to look contrite, ducking her head to hide a grin.
She’s gonna have to quit doing this soon. For one, Darry is gonna lose her head when she finds out how many detentions Pony has got this year, and for another she’s running out of new ideas of how to get detention in the first place. She’s fortunate Ms. Sinatra kind of holds a grudge against her for what happened during the fire drill last year- which wasn’t her fault, ok? It wasn’t.
Ms. Sinatra goes back to the lesson, talking about Boo Radley this and symbolism that, but Pony isn’t really listening. Instead she looks down at the two slips of paper in her hands, one pink and the other a ripped piece of lined notebook paper, with the most chickenscratch handwriting she’s ever seen.
It only has one word written. Well, one word and two kisses.
Detention? xx
It’s enough for Pony.
***********
Tuesday’s are the only day of the week track practice takes place during lunch instead of after school. When the bell rings, Pony makes her way to the changeroom, slipping out of her skirt and into her track shorts before following her teammates out onto the yard. The track is 400m of packed dirt covered in gravel, chalk lines fading into dust. Their school district is far from the riches in the district, and what little funding they do have for sports usually goes towards the boys football team instead of varsity track and field. Pony doesn’t really mind, Be it dirt, gravel, or pavement, she’s never yet found a track that didn’t let her feel like she’s flying.
Her sister, Sodapop, doesn't get it. Jenny, Dalia, and Two-bit don’t either. Even Darry, who had been captain of the cheer team before she left school, doesn’t understand what exactly the track team means to Pony.
Because it’s everything.
The feeling of her feet digging into the track, her hair flying back and fighting to escape her ponytail, lungs burning as she forces herself faster, for once not having to worry about being ladylike or pretty, free for as long as she’s running. Sometimes it feels like if she runs far enough or fast enough she could run away from everything. Sometimes, when she’s nearing the end of a race, pushing herself faster than she’s ever run before, she can almost pretend for a moment that it really is all behind her, can leave behind the reality that mom and dad are gone and nothing will ever be the same as it used to be.
No wonder she’s set five personal bests already this year.
She stretches while the coach scribbles on his clipboard before sending them on an easy 800m for warm up. Pony pumps her legs, sticking close to the middle of the pack- unlike some people, she feels no need to try and show off. At least not until the practice races.
As she rounds the first bend she spots a familiar head of dark hair under the bleachers. The girl, wrapped in a leather jacket, a cigarette stuck between her red painted lips, catches Pony’s eye and grins, a cheshire cat smile with a gap in the bottom front teeth that never fails to steal Pony’s breath away, just a little bit.
She forces herself faster, pulling ahead of the rest of the team, which earns her a few dirty looks from the seniors. She can’t bring herself to care..
After all, it can’t hurt to show off a little bit. Right?
************
Antonio Shepard has to be one of the scariest people Pony has ever met. She’d never admit it, because greasy girls are supposed to be tough, but the guy’s cold blue eyes and the jawline that could cut glass would make him intimidating even if he wasn’t the leader of one of the east side’s scariest gangs.
He’s also, as it turns out, scarily protective over his twin sister, which Pony supposes would be sweet,if it didn’t mean he spent every class they spent together staring at her like she was a puzzle he was trying very hard to figure out.
So what, she and Curly are friends? It doesn’t mean he needs to be weird about it.
Then again, Curly is the strangest girl Pony’s ever met. It makes sense her brother would be too.
In any case, Antonio’s surveillance makes geography a class that is very hard for Pony to concentrate in, something that is going to be a problem pretty soon if she fails the midterm and her grades start slipping. If Darry finds out she’s struggling in geo as well as math she can kiss the track team goodbye. And no track team means no letting Darry think she has track practice after school Tuesday, which means no Tuesday detentions, which means no hanging out with Curly for two hours completely uninterrupted.
Yeah, she really can’t afford to fail the midterm.
She’s copying down the different layers of the atmosphere, wishing someone would pull the fire alarm like Two-bit and her treat of the week had a few weeks ago, when something small and damp hits her in the back of the head.
Annoyed, she brushes the spitball out of her hair and tries to ignore the snickers erupting from the back of the class as best she can. She’s dealt with plenty of annoying teenage boys in her life. Usually, the best reaction is no reaction, and if this is Archie Towsend’s latest shitty attempt at flirting with her she might actually lose her mind.
Five minutes and seven spitballs is all it takes to ruin her resolve. When a spitball lands in her ear, she whirls around just quick enough to see Antonio hide his hollowed out pen under his desk and adopt an innocent expression.
Pony sees red.
When she comes back to herself she’s holding another detention slip and Antonio is smirking at her, his snake-like eyes amused, even as he wipes the water she’d dumped over his head off his jacket.
Pony fumes for the rest of class. She is so gonna set Curly on him.
********************
The reason Tuesday track practices run during lunch is the same reason why Tuesday is the only day Pony tries to get detention consistently, no matter how many notes or bribes Curly slips into her locker or gives her between classes. On Tuesdays, the principal, who usually oversees detention and makes students scrape gum off desks or some equally unpleasant task, goes home early to play in his intramural softball league, and so the track coach Mr. Duvall takes over. Now, Mr Duvall is deeply dedicated to his role as track coach…not so much to overseeing detention.
When Pony gets to the detention room there's only three other people there. Most folks have figured out by now that Mr. Duvall often forgets to take attendance when he’s in charge of detention.
“Alright there, Curtis?” Mr. Duvall greets when she steps into the room, “You aren’t the type I’d expect to see in detention.”
He says that same thing almost every week, and every week he seems to forget he’s seen her in detention before. Pony is starting to wonder if the guy’s memory is really that bad or if the rumours of his pill problem have more wight than she initially thought.
“It was a misunderstanding Mr.Duvall,” she tells him, giving her most winning smile, and he nods absentmindedly.
“Right, right. Well, you’re the last person on my list I think, so keep these folks in line for me, will you? I’ll be back in two hours to make sure you’ve all stayed the whole time.”
Then he leaves.
Pony snicker as the two greasers in the back of the classroom promptly open the window and climb out, leaving it open behind them, presumably so she and Curly can follow if they want to. It’s sort of gallant, she thinks. Maybe chivalry isn’t dead.
She doesn’t spend much time dwelling on it as she makes her way towards the only figure left in the classroom. She has no intentions of going anywhere, at least not for the next two hours. Not when she’s alone in a room with Curly Shepard for the first time in a week. Curly Shepard, who wears oversized baggy jeans- boys jeans- instead of skirts, and who always gets Pony in trouble, and who smells like cigarette smoke and dirt but somehow doesn’t ever truly smell bad. Curly Shepard, who’s more accurately described as handsome than pretty for all she’s a girl, and who Pony is pretty sure she’s starting to fall in love with.
Curly, who is currently hunched over a desk and not giving Pony the time of day.
Fuck. That.
“Watcha doin’?” she asks, hopping onto a desk right in front of Curly. She’s wearing a skirt, and it rides up a bit at the motion, something that would usually be guaranteed to not only capture Curly’s attention but distract her for a good few minutes, but Curly doesn’t even glance up.
“Just gimme a minute, doll.”
“You go through all this trouble,” pony drawls, “Slippin’ a note in my locker and comin’ to spy on me durin’ practice earlier, and now you can’t even give me the time of day? Darlin’ I got detention for you, a black mark on my shiny school record, and another one for dumpin’ a water bottle on your brother, dontcha think I deserve a reward for all that trouble?”
That at least makes Curly quirk an eyebrow, even if she still doesn’t look up from whatever she’s doing, and working very hard to hide behind her jacket sleeve.
“You dumped water on Tony? What’d he do?”
“Spitballed me.”
“I’lll put a frog in his bed tonight.” Curly promises, and Pony grins.
“My hero.”
“You know it, doll.”
“If you don’t start payin’ attention to me I’m gonna follow them boys right out that window.”
“Jesus you’re impatient, y’know that? Here I am tryin’ to listen to you and do somethin’ romantic for once since you’re always sayin’ all I care about is kissing, and here you are actin’ all desperate.”
Pony rolls her eyes. “And what’s so romantic about ignoring me?”
“I’m not ignorin’ you,” Curly finally looks up, her gaze catching on Pony’s bare thigh before she forces herself to meet her girlfriend’s gaze, “I’m makin’ one of those gestures you’re always going on about, like that time you brought me soup when I was sick. See?”
She moves her arm and Pony finally sees what she’d been working on. There, carved roughly into the top of the desk, is a slightly lopsided heart with the initials P + C in the middle.
“This way there's proof we exist but no one to get us in trouble for it.” Curly says, suddenly unable to meet her gaze. She fidgets with her switchblade, flicking it open and shut while Pony’s eyes fill with tears.
“Oh Curly…”
“You don’t like it,” Curly swallows heavily, and Pony can see the way she’s trying to hide her hurt, “it’s ok, it was stupid anyway-”
Pony pulls her into a kiss.
“It’s perfect.”
Curly melts under her hands, trying to duck away and hide her embarrassment, but Pony refuses to let her, instead staring into her blue, blue eyes.
“You’re a real romantic at heart, ain’t you Curly Shepard?”
“Shut up.”
“You are.”
“Shut up.”
“No.”
“I mean it,” Curly threatens, “or I won’t kiss you for the rest of the day.”
Pony snorts. “I’m wearin’ my yellow skirt. You won’t last ten minutes without kissin’ me somewhere.”
“Wanna bet, pretty girl?”
She’s never been one to turn down a challenge.
“Y’know what?” Pony sticks her chin out, fighting a smile, “Sure.”
Curly makes it four minutes and Pony’s skirt riding up a bit before she loses the bet. Neither of them really mind.
Two hours later Mr. Duvall returns and lets them go, thanking them for being responsible enough to serve their full detention time. Pony walks beside Curly back to the east side, wishing she was brave enough to reach out and take her hand.
She already can’t wait for Tuesday detention next week.

"Slut!" | Modern!Anakin Skywalker
a miss americana and the heartbreak prince story
(modern!au / high school!au)
High school culture in this series is extremely dramatized and fictionalized. As mentioned in the series masterlist, the characters are 18 years old. Padmé is very out of character in this series as well. There are lots of nods to Taylor Swift lyrics in this, too. So it's really fun for swifties and star war babes.
Tumblr media
Slut
noun
a woman who has many casual sexual partners.
The definition of “slut” more accurately describes Anakin rather than you. Afterall, he is the Heartbreak Prince of Lucas High School. But men never pay the price for sleeping around. They’re awarded a higher social status. Or in Anakin Skywalker’s case, you become the Senior every Freshman boy wants to be.
Anakin Skywalker used to be a player. Anakin Skywalker used to go through girls faster than the news could spread around school. He had no qualms with one night stands or taking a girl’s virginity because she asked him to. He was honored to be a girls’ first time.
He dated Padmé Amidala exclusively from January until June. When the new school year began, everyone wondered who would be the next one to get their heart broken by Anakin. Nobody could’ve guessed it would be Miss Americana.
The crowd at the Homecoming game nearly quieted when Anakin spun you around in the middle of the field. When he nuzzled his sweaty face into your neck, kissing your warm skin as if it was a greater reward than winning the football game. It took you by surprise, to say the least. You’ve only been seeing each other for about a month and had yet to interact or show affection at school. It was quite the announcement. And the message was loud and clear. Anakin had a new girl and she’s nothing like his ex.
Padmé had watched you and Anakin with a fire fueled by jealousy in her stomach. You had a stupid, naïve smile on your face as you walked off of the field with Anakin’s varsity jacket draped over your shoulders. That should be me. Maybe it’s all an act to make me jealous.
So that’s how the whispers began at the Homecoming dance. Padmé had rallied her cheerleading friends to start spreading rumors. By the time you walked through the gymnasium doors attached to Anakin’s arm, everyone had made up their mind about you. You’re nothing but a slut and a man-stealer.
It’s unnerving having so many eyes on you at once. It’s like they all have a radar when Anakin walks into a room. He’s just that magnetic of a man. And he’s used to it. But it makes you uncomfortable and Anakin can sense it.
“Are you alright?”
You swallow and plaster on an unconvincing smile. “‘M fine.”
“Hey,” Anakin says gently. He cups your elbows and rubs his thumbs over your arms. “We’re all dressed up, you look stunning and I’m having a particularly great hair day. They might as well look at us. I want you to enjoy yourself tonight. Do you think you can do that for me?”
Maroon 5’s Moves Like Jagger thrumming in your ears makes it difficult to think or to argue. Anakin is right. You didn’t spend $120 on an aquamarine dress for nothing. “Fine,” you concede. “But if I hear people talking about me, can we leave and go to Denny’s?”
“They’re going to talk about you, angel,” Anakin kisses you on the cheek. “It’s just how it is. But none of it means a thing. C’mon, let’s dance.”
You dance for about twenty minutes before needing to get something to drink. Of course it’s the same time Anakin meets up with his football friends, leaving you at the snack table with a target on your back. Serena and Molly, Padmé’s closest friends slither up next to you.
“Hey, Slut,” Serena jeers. That insult was bound to reach your ears sooner or later. It’s by no means true or accurate but they don’t care. They’re not about to bad mouth Anakin.
“So… you and Anakin, huh?” Molly begins. “He’s a bit out of your league, isn’t he?”
“Don’t worry, Mol. She’s just his rebound. He’s gonna get back with Padmé when he realizes what a loser she is. No offense,” Serena adds insincerely.
“That definitely felt like something you wanted me to take offense to,” you say. You scan the gym for Anakin, hoping he’ll see the situation you’re in and rescue you. But when you put it like that, you sound so pathetic. You can get out of this yourself. “And I’m not his rebound.”
“No?” Molly puts her hands on his hips. “That’s not what I heard…”
No, you tell yourself. Don’t indulge her. Whatever she has to say isn’t true.
Serena laughs at you. “You don’t honestly think Anakin actually likes you, do you? He’s just using you to make Padmé jealous. You’re all part of his plan to get her back.”
Even though you know Serena is lying, her words still manage to plant seeds of doubt in you. But they don’t know anything about you and Anakin. There is something special kindling between the two of you. Anakin cares about you. It’s in the way he drops off a Dirty Chai latte on your porch before going to school. It’s written in the notes he stealthily slips into your locker when he says he’s going to the bathroom in the middle of class. It’s the sweatshirts he lets you borrow and the sleepless movie nights eating buttery popcorn and stale Red Vines over the last two weekends.
“You’re wrong,” you say with a slight quiver in your lip. You hate how Serena has made you question everything with Anakin. If it’s all just for show then why does he kiss you when no one is watching? Why did he insist on keeping your new relationship private if not to nurture your budding romance without prying eyes?
He’s ashamed of you.
Then why did he ask you to the dance?
To humiliate you in front of the whole school.
This is just a game to him. Your embarrassment is the prize.
“Aw, I think we hurt Little Miss Americana’s feelings,” Molly feigns a sad face, dragging her finger down her cheek as if it’s a fallen tear. “I hate to make it worse but it looks like he and Padmé might be making up right now.”
Molly and Serena point in Anakin’s direction, where he is indeed speaking with Padmé. It’s the first time you’ve seen her all night and she looks breathtaking. Her chocolate hair is curled to perfection, bouncy locks cascading over her shoulders. A plunging neckline draws your eyes down her chest and seriously, she was allowed to wear this to a high school dance?
She’s throwing her head back dramatically, as if Anakin just told her the joke of the year. And then— dear God, you want to throw up— he’s hugging her. You count the seconds. 1…2…3… you can’t watch it anymore. You turn away from Serena and Juliette abruptly and make your way out of the gymnasium.
“So long, slut,” Serena waves.
The brisk October air assaults your skin and invades your lungs, but it’s welcomed compared to the betrayal you feel coursing through your veins. Is this the end of Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince? You’ve only had a month with him but you want a dozen more. You’ve barely had time to discover what your relationship could become.
Perfect pearls of salt begin falling down your cheeks. How could you have been so lovelorn? How could you have gotten it all wrong? You were too blinded by Anakin’s charm to see that it was always meant to be temporary.
“Y/N!” Anakin calls for you. He spots you sitting on the curb with your head in your hands.
A little piece of him crumbles. Someone has hurt you. Little does he know it was him who did.
He rushes over to you and lays his arm over your back as he sits down. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing.” You let yourself relish in the feeling of having his protective arm around you. It might be the last time. “Go back inside.”
“No,” Anakin replies, tilting your face toward him with a finger beneath your chin. “You’ve been crying.”
“What an astute observation, Anakin.”
Okay, so apparently you’re going back to the days when you hated each other. Right. Great. Why?
“You’re… mad at me…?” Anakin thinks out loud.
“I’m-” you stand abruptly, making you dizzy as all of the blood rushes out of your head. You wait until you can see clearly before continuing to speak. “I’m confused, Anakin! I’m angry at myself for falling for you, I’m angry at myself for being so naïve in thinking this was as real for you as it was for me. I can’t believe I was so fucking stupid-”
Anakin stands as well. Clearly, something happened in the gymnasium. Someone said something to you. Or you saw something that wasn’t what it seemed.  “What are you talking about?”
“You and Padmé.”
“Are over,” Anakin emphasizes.
“But…” you close your eyes, replaying the scene you saw before you. Padmé laughing, Anakin bringing her in for a hug… it was all so friendly.
“But you saw us hug?” Anakin asks calmly. You nod. “But you didn’t hear me?”
“No,” you reply shamefully.
“I told her that I don’t want to get back together with her. My relationship with her was the first real one I’ve had and it taught me a lot, but it is not what I want. It’s not what I need. She is not who I want or who I need.”
“Ani…”
Anakin shakes his head. “I’m not done. Look, I know we’re only 18 and I know we have our whole lives ahead of us but let’s not think about that. Think about right now,” Anakin grabs your hands. “This is real for me. You’re my favorite person to spend time with. I’m so fucking excited that everyone at this fucking school knows we’re together because now I can kiss you whenever I want. I can push you up against the lockers and make out with you until we get yelled at by Mr. Windu.”
That makes you giggle. You can totally hear Mr. Windu telling you to get off of each other before he gives you both detention.
“I don’t have to be so fucking sneaky with putting notes in your locker. You can wear my Varsity jacket at games. We can actually go out to a restaurant and go on a date. Don’t give up on us, baby. We’ve only just begun.”
It’s not a proclamation of love or anything, but it’s enough. Everyone wants Anakin Skywalker and that seems to be your crime. You stole him before anyone else had the chance.

Never Hold Back Your Step... Part 6
Yay! Another Boy with a Bat! In this we have Steve and the rest of the seniors finding out if they graduate and Steve getting squicked at his own pool.
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5
****
Things began to improve between Steve and Nancy but Eddie was still keeping an eye on her. His hackles were up now, and he had no intentions of dropping them any time soon.
Steve was glad that swim season was up and that the basketball team had done so badly their losses far outweighed their wins. And while he was upset he wasn’t starting spring training with the baseball team, it was nice to spend his afternoons with Eddie.
He could see that Eddie was really struggling with his homework, but whenever Steve asked, his boyfriend would blow him off. He was fine. They would graduate together. Just Steve wait and see.
During that last free period of the day, Steve began work on his next comic. He kept it short like he did the other one. Just the part about the junkyard and the dogs. Maybe the next comic would deal with the tunnels, but not this one.
Steve sketched out the RV, changing it from the bus it actually was. He actually enjoying find out ways to hide the details of his experiences into the comic.
What was even better was that he was pretty sure it would even take the smartest members of the Party a couple of pages to figure it out. He had taken out his pen to start inking the page when he felt someone knock into his elbow just as he was about to put his pen to the paper.
He looked up to see a couple of members of the junior varsity team, walking past, snickering.
It had been awhile since he had been a target of someone’s bullying and wondered where the hell it had com from. The idiots were wearing their letterman jackets allowing Steve to read their names. Carver, McKinney, and a couple of others.
Steve shook his head. Billy was a bad influence on the team, and maybe now the coach would see that. Considering how badly they lost this season with the asshole as team captain.
He looked back up at the retreating backs of the juniors as they laughed and whispered insults about Steve as they made their way out of the library.
He knew all too well how they treat people like them, verses outsiders. And now that Steve had thrown his lot in willingly with the outsiders, the other members of the team were going to be trouble.
Billy could call them off, but Eddie’s status as drug dealer wouldn’t faze that lot. They were the church boys. The sanctimonious assholes who would be straight edgers if they liked the violence, but were too soft to get their hands actually dirty.
He looked down at his drawing and sighed. These assholes didn’t know what pain actually looked liked. Still in their ivory towers, looking down on the masses and turning up their noses.
Steve flicked back to an earlier page of the hero and his little brother walking down the railway tracks and ran his fingers over the two figures. He hadn’t colored it yet, but he knew the trucker hat would be red. For the bond the boys shared.
The bell rang and Steve gathered up his stuff. He shouldered his backpack. Just then there was a tap on his shoulder.
It was the librarian, Mrs. Locke.
“Next time, you’ll be meeting with Mr. Cole and handful of other students to know if you have the credits to graduate,” she said, handing him a paper with the information he would need.
“It’ll be here at the library,” she continued. “But be sure to get here in plenty of time because the tables will fill up fast.”
Steve nodded. “Thank you, Mrs. Locke. I’ll try to get here as soon as I can.”
She nodded and let him go. Steve hefted his backpack again and made for the parking lot, a sense of dread pooling in his stomach.
****
Steve sat at the same table as Eddie, Janice and Marty. They all greeted him with quiet murmuring. The whole room vibrated with nervous tension. Mr. Cole was going to tell them their future and fuck if that wasn’t the most terrifying thing in their young lives.
Steve envied them.
For Eddie though, this was his second go round and that fear of failure radiating off the older teen in waves.
Mr. Cole walked into the library and whispered something to the librarian. She nodded curtly and walked back to her desk.
He sat on an empty table and pulled out three stacks of folders. A large stack of about twenty or so, a much smaller stack of about five, and a stack of two.
Eddie gulped and Steve took his hand under the table.
“Thank you all for being here,” Mr. Cole began. He hovered his hand over the first stack. “These are all of you who are graduating without a shadow of a doubt. You have the credits as of now to graduate. Congrats.” His hand moved over to the next pile. “This is those that as long as they pass their classes by May 15th, will graduate. But it is dependent on you passing those classes.” His hand landed on the final two folders.
“These two aren’t passing,” he continued grimly. “Do not pass go, do not collect your diploma. For those two, you have three options. Repeat your senior year. Take your GED that will at least be equal to a high school diploma. Or you flunk out of high school. Walk away from formal education for good.”
Steve stared at the second pile with a growing pit of dread pooling in his stomach.
“I will call each of you by name,” Mr. Cole said, “and will talk to you away from your peers. I’m not here to name and shame and if you really want to know you can wait until graduation.”
There was a little bit of grumbling, but mostly from the assholes no one liked anyway.
“Steve Harrington.”
Steve gave Eddie’s hand a squeeze and got up. He followed Mr. Cole to what the students called the Stacks. They weren’t really stacks of books, but it was a set of tables for study that were surrounded by bookshelves to make it secluded. Guys liked to take their girlfriends back here for a little alone time.
“Hey, Steve,” Mr. Cole greeted. “I was happy to see your grade climb back up after your concussion made them take a nose dive.”
Steve nodded, keeping his fingers crossed behind his back. “I tried as hard as I could.”
“Well it really paid off,” Mr. Cole said. “Because you have more than enough credits to graduate.”
Steve stared at him in shock as his guidance counselor handed him his file. He flipped through it and sure enough, he already had all the credits he needed. In fact, he could have graduated early if it wasn’t for Mrs. Hall.
“Thanks to you,” he breathed.
“They aren’t the best grades,” Mr. Cole admonished. “But they are good enough to get you across that stage.”
Steve nodded and handed the file back to him. He walked back to his table.
One by one all the kids were called and while there were happy kids and wailing tears, it was hard to tell the graduating from those that weren’t.
After everyone had been called and told that they could go home, the four of them sat at the table, waiting for everyone else to file out.
“Valedictorian!” Janice crowed. “I made it, baby!”
“I’m graduating too,” Marty said. “Barely. I just have to make sure I don’t fail Mrs. McDonald’s final and I’m good to go.”
“Eddie?” Steve asked instead of giving his own news. Because his didn’t matter. Not when his boyfriend, the best and brightest person Steve had ever met, (and yes that did include Nancy Wheeler) was curled up on himself, staring at the table.
“No, man,” Marty said, “not again...”
Eddie just nodded. “I was doing the work. I was turning it in. I thought the grades I was getting back were enough, but they weren’t.”
Steve wrapped his arms around him and just let Eddie’s tears soak into the collar of his shirt.
His poor beautiful Eddie. He wished he had done more to make sure he graduated.
But now it was too late.
****
Steve threw Eddie a pool party to make him feel better about not graduating again. Something that Steve really shouldn’t have done if he wanted to avoid the question.
“Come on, Stevie!” Eddie called from the side of the pool. “The water is fine. Stop being the babysitter for two seconds and enjoy your pool, babe.”
The kids still didn’t know they were a couple, but they had gotten used to the endearments that Eddie threw out on a regular basis. They all got nicknames and endearments. Max was Red, Dustin was Dusty, Lucas was Strider and so on. So they didn’t even bat an eyelash at his use of ‘babe’ to describe Steve.
Mike rolled his eyes and scoffed. “Steve never gets in the pool. If he wasn’t on the swim team, I would have had assumed that he can’t.”
Eddie got out of the pool and Steve’s eyes trailed down his torso, following each drop of water as they ran for his waistband. Eddie smirked as he got really close. Steve closed his eyes to block out the dirty thoughts that went off in his head like church bells, loud and deep.
Vaguely behind him he could hear Nancy hissing at Mike, but he couldn’t hear what she said over the rushing in his ears of the blood traveling southward the closer Eddie got. He gulped heavily. Eddie cupped Steve’s cheek tenderly and Steve leaned into the touch. He didn’t care who noticed their casual affection. He was starting to shake like a leaf and not just from the way his boyfriend looked like sex on legs, either.
Quietly as though it was a secret between them Eddie said, “Is this about the comic?”
Steve’s lips quivered as he nodded, his eyes still closed. “They all know except...” he waved vaguely at the Corroded Coffin boys.
“Do you want me to kill Mike?” Eddie asked with a grin.
Steve fought to tamp down on his answering smile, but it broke through anyway. “I think one death is enough.”
He paused with a frown and looked behind Eddie where apparently everyone had gathered. In that brief moment, their silence had made Steve’s answer as loud as if it had been had been a shout.
“Shit, man,” Mike mumbled. “I’m sorry. I forgot.”
Steve’s shoulders slumped. “It’s not a big deal. I still swim. Just not here. And I act as lifeguard for everyone. It’s fine. Honest.”
Nancy chewed on her lip, wrapping her arms tightly around her waist.
Jeff winced. “Yeah, I think we all forgot that Barb vanished from here. Not that we forgot about her,” he added waving his hands at Nancy’s dark glare. “It’s just so easy to forget it impacted more people then you’d think.”
Nancy nodded and let herself be comforted by Jonathan.
Steve pushed Mike into the pool causing a large splash and suddenly the tension was gone. The laughter and fun returned. He breathed a sigh of relief and Eddie wrapped his arm around Steve’s waist.
He leaned in close, “You gonna be okay, babe?”
Steve smiled. “Yeah, I guess it’s good they know,” he said, indicating the Corroded Coffin boys. “So I don’t get freaked out and hurt someone.”
“You’d never,” Eddie soothed.
Steve smiled warmly at Eddie and Jonathan and Nancy shared a knowing smile. He bumped Eddie’s shoulder with his own.
“Where did you learn to swim?” Steve asked turning back to sit sit on his lounge chair.
Eddie grinned. “Wayne taught me the first time we went camping up at Lover’s Lake.”
He sat down in the V of Steve’s legs and lifted one so that it was on his lap.
“How old were you?” Steve asked, basking in the attention Eddie was giving him despite the two of them not being out to Steve’s ducklings.
Eddie hummed for a moment as he thought. “I guess I was about seven or eight. My dad was in jail for the first time and my mom needed the weekend to recoup after an especially long week at work. So Wayne offered to take me camping for the weekend. Back when was he was young, wild and free.”
Steve bumped him with his knee. “Which he doesn’t regret exchanging for you a second.”
Eddie blushed. “No, but with me it meant taking a responsibility he never planned. He could have found someone, settled down, had a family of his own. I could have had nieces or nephews if I hadn’t been dumped on his doorstep.”
Steve sat up and turned Eddie’s chin toward him. “And you would have been lost in the system and hurt far worse then if he hadn’t taken you in.”
Eddie smiled. “You just want Uncle Wayne all to yourself.”
Steve laughed. “You caught me!” He began to tickle Eddie’s sides, causing the other boy to jump and squeal.
“Fiend!” Eddie cried as he scrambled off the lounger to get away. He leapt to his feet and then grabbed the lounger and flipped it.
Steve let out a squawk of surprise and landed on the cement with a thud and a laugh.
Dustin swam over to Gareth, figuring him to be the least scary of Eddie’s friends and whispered. “Are they always like this?”
Gareth scoffed. “No.”
Dustin sighed. “Oh thank go–”
“Sometimes they’re worse,” Gareth bit out, before wading back into deeper waters.
Dustin looked over at the pair of them, cocking his head thoughtfully to the side. There was something more to their friendship, but he couldn’t quite place what it was. Then Max splashed him and suddenly the thought was gone.

Part 7 Part 8 Part 9 Part 10 Part 11 Part 12 Part 13 Part 14 Part 15 Part 16
As for why it doesn't bother Nancy? That's because it's not her pool. She can go home while the sun is still out. While Steve has to hear the lapping of the water day in and day out. Has to see it in the dead of night, like the night Barb disappeared.
