i wish that instead of complaining about gorillaz not making new music that fits the themes of past albums people would watch any 2017 or later concert & realize theyre still very much about the old themes, they're just also adding on new themes w each phase

they consistently play last living souls, dirty harry, kids with guns, rhinestone eyes, saturnz barz, don't get lost in heaven & demon days...some of my favorite concerts are from 2021 because they explicitly play tranz in reference to trans people, & i still don't see how warnings against cult ideologies are unimportant considering how rampant they are

i wish there was a transcript of what ace and 2d's interaction was going to be for the intro of the tranz mv. like that would add SO MUCH to ace's relationship with 2d as well as gorillaz as a whole.

GOD RIGHT?!?! you can't say "we had a script planned for tranz" and then NOT release it im rattling the bars of my cage begging and pleading for it to be released it would add SO much needed characterization. like... as much as I love Ace and think his inclusion is fun it feels INCREDIBLY wasted and yeah they couldn't help it, budget stuff but like? I DONT understand at all why the band barely talked about him at least and why, oh why, he didn't get a single written interview. THAT WOULDVE ADDED *SO* MUCH and more than made up for him not speaking. but we didn't get that, we barely got anything. it's such a shame too, he's such a fun and wacky character and I would've loved to see how he interacts with the band and how they interact back and how his life is and what he's like these days... as fun as it is to speculate based on the little clues it would be nice to finally KNOW someday it's frustrating how that awesome premise really didn't amount to much

I've literally never thought about it 😭 hmm... imo it's somewhere between messy and decently neat. VERY personalized. she keeps around a bunch of things she likes whether they're useful or not, at it's best state I'd describe it moreso as extremely cluttered. I'm gonna have to think about this more....

👁️ - How do other people perceive this oc? How close do their first assumptions come to the truth?

people perceive aya as, obviously, first and foremost, as the wol, and thus extremely powerful and not someone to be underestimated. when they look at her under that, as a person, they see her as a typical happy optimist, as well as a rather clumsy person (despite her objective strength) and thus think she is unfit to be doing what she's doing. then when they look at her deeper (and it's rare they do, usually they get lost in the middle of this process), they see she is pretty much calculating her every move, her every social interaction, the very way life works, based on fear. she wants everything to be perfect and to never go wrong, because let's remember that aya's worst flaw and one of her defining traits is her selfishness

honestly? total negligence, maybe even being presumed dead. I won't get into detail since I feel like that says everything it needs to say already

I swear I've talked about this once but neither can I find it or remember what exactly I said 😭 it was probably from an earlier stage of her character either way. anyway I think it's kinda bad actually. she's fun to have around generally cause her personality is bright but she would tell the stupidest jokes that seem pretty funny to her in her head but when she tells them to others the room goes silent. can't think of one example rn but you're free to imagine

A new Gorillaz music video came out...

It’s for their song Tranz and let me tell ya, the video was frikin’ incredible. The first thing you notice is that Noodle’s hair is different, which is nice. Russ and Ace look like they’re in a good mood while 2D and Noodle are, eh okay. And near the ending of the video, everything gets super trippy. So yeah, the video was fantastic!! I suggest you go see it!

There are two Gorillaz songs I’ve always thought could reference gender critical sentiment, despite their audience.  The first one is, appropriately, Tranz:

Do you look like me, do you feel like me Do you turn into your effigy?

The “look like me/feel like me” is self explanatory but the “turn into your effigy” part stands out.  A lot of trans people I see are clearly trying to emulate their idols.  Their effigies.

The second one is Momentary Bliss:

It makes me sick to think you ain't happy in your skin

Oh, you need to change your face You're getting sold, it's such a waste Y'know, we could do so much better than this Swimming in pools of momentary bliss

This one’s an aggressive body/self positivity song.  “Society is trying to sell you your own self and it’s SICKENING.  That bliss/euphoria is only momentary, let’s do better!”
