I think we need to not have any more sci-fi action movies---or at least the prevalent breed of them---for the next decade or so. We need to detox and reset the market. No more Star Wars, no more Transformers, no more Avatar, no more Men in Black, and for jesus' sake no more fucking superheroes. Something like Aliens (1986) could be okay, where there's a horror element or something to offset the insufferable, insipid mass-appealery. But I have had it up to the moon with wise-cracking aliens, magical flight, and people who are fucking blue. I hope the WGA/SAG strike kills so much of this shit

#sci-fi action peaked with Star Trek TOS in the early '70s #we can revisit the issue in 10 years or so but the genre needs a fucking time-out #movies #Star Trek is the lone property that has not itself become offensive to me #there are like 7 ST shows running right now (according to my brother) and I don't watch any of them #but their marketing doesn't shove lame jokes and boring CG fights and ubiquitous merch in my face at every turn!#like I know the franchise is THERE but it doesn't remind me of its presence every 5 minutes with cookie-cutter dogshit #why this is hell nor am I out of it
