for the longest time i've had a headcanon that lucas never cried after the timeskip, and only finally broke down in tears during the final battle with the masked man. kid lucas was so unfairly berated and belittled for bawling his eyes out - and with hinawa gone, crying no longer got him any help or support. so he learned to suppress the urge and hold it all tight in his chest. then it became an involuntary defense mechanism, he got so used to it that he more or less forgot how to cry. wanted to at several points throughout the game, tried to even, but physically couldn't until the end. the jist of it being like? this arc where, while he's always inherently more sensitive and emotionally present than flint & claus, there's still one major barricade he has to overcome in order to really begin healing. and naturally it's only when he loses claus, his cataclysmically emotionally repressed identical twin, that he's able to let go of that repressive part of himself.

i've had some second thoughts on the concept cuz like. in practice, at least on a surface level, this lucas becomes the "stoic" hero who never cries - same as claus, the very thing mother 3's story dissects & condemns. and idk if that really suits the character. he's supposed to be a subversion of the standard rpg protagonist, a sappy grieving kid who cries openly and isn't any lesser for it. but then again the whole point with the "lucas doesn't cry actually" schtick is that it doesn't make him tougher or stronger, it just makes him hurt. and unlike flint & claus he's painfully aware of it. he hates it, it scares the hell out of him, he wants to let out his feelings and be vulnerable and so on. so idk 😭🫠 i'll probably keep this hc as is but if i ever draw or write midgame lucas in tears that's fine too, the world is made of pudding

Hi, it's the uni anon here! I also like discussing general khr stuff too and im so glad to see an active tumblr to this day! I've been following it since i was a kid and sometimes it leaves me to hop on different fandoms but i always periodically get hit with khr loving hours

General khr stuff i love to point out:

1. Ryohei was a punk who loved fighting so much that kyoko got hurt in the past bc of it. Boxing was violence in a controlled environment. Im sure hes really smitten with the sportsmanship, but i just love that hes also a fighting freak on par with hibari.

2. It didnt really hit me until his fight in the shimon arc for me to really get tyl!lambo's characterization. But the fact that he just wants to enjoy and party and is also a crybaby coward but gathers the resolve to fight from the people who surrounded him in his childhood??? Love that so much. Hes obnoxious in a 15-year old way for the same 5-year old traits.

3. Gokudera's introduction episode/chapter was a total subversion of the typical shonen rival character. If yamamoto was the shonen mc, hed definitely be the typical shonen rival. But no, hes the enthusiatic bodyguard friend of the shonen mc who finds out hes a shonen mc and went NOPE.

4. Gokudera gripes at yamamoto not taking things seriously bc he keeps talking about the mafia as a game, but for someone who thought the mafia as a game, yamamoto actually takes the "game" so damn seriously.

Im sure theres more, but thats all i can think of to blurt out for now.

KHR is kind of like that, it may go dormant as an interest for a while, but it always seems to rear its head again eventually :? something about it is just really appealing if you're into action manga.

To address the points you've brought up, Ryohei is a fascinating character who really got piss poor treatment. With an ever-expanding cast and a revolving door of villains, sometimes characters get downsized to fit the story or change focus to another point/arc. Ryohei is just like, a guy who likes to fight. Single mindedly, he likes fighting, being Good Pals with people, and provoking Hibari. I appreciate characters who are bull headed about their passions, and Ryohei is no different. I wish Kyoko and Ryohei's sibling dynamic was explored more, as the constant contention between Ryohei's fighting habits gets a little dull sometime within 400 chapters. Lambo has a really interesting position as a primarily comic relief character, in that he's got schrodinger's perfect characterization of childish-ness: he is both an incredibly accurate depiction of what a childish character FEELS like, and also exaggerated to the point of comedy. Amano took that one bratty trait and ran to the moon and back with it. I really enjoyed the subtle differences between 5 year old Lambo, 15 year old Lambo, and 25 year old Lambo. He was handled pretty well in that respect, all things considered! Right!!!!! You know I don't see many people bring that up at all, now that I think about it. Gokudera is really refreshing in that respect, and I think that may play a major role in what I enjoy about his character!!! I do wish we got to see that friendship develop a little more, though!!! Yams is so funny because he's just like. ok with killing. he treats it kinda like baseball, as long as everyone else plays by the book he'll do the same, but as soon as that understanding is broken all bets are off. Hellsing:

- Alucard: Uhhhh, he likes to tease you and call you a child cause compared to him you’re like fucking five but don’t let that get to you. He actually finds you to be wise beyond your years and this he finds endlessly attractive.

- Integra: When it’s not all business, she’s a real sweetheart to you because she wants you to enjoy young love. She also respects that you’re just a teen and doesn’t force you into anything, preferring forehead kisses and short hugs.

- Seras: Well, he’s basically just as young as you so you two make a great couple. A bit mature for her age she is always there to wrangle you in when you get a bit to wild. On the contrary you also ease her temper with gentle pats and soft pecks.

- Pip Bernadotte: I don’t think he really takes your age in consideration in any area except sex. In that case he’s a gentle lover. Otherwise he is as romantic and smooth as a French man can be. Although he really enjoys hearing you talk about your life and then being like “when I was your age”.

Iscariot:

- Alexander Anderson: It was your naivety and youth that lured him. He found it ripe for the taking and was ready to pick your peach at a moment’s notice. That was until you pulled and gun and threatened to shoot him where the sun don’t shine. The man then said something about today’s youth being so different from his age. Your relationship is a lot of petty bickering and asking Anderson jst how old he is.

- Yumie/ Yumiko Takagi: A real quick one who likes cuddling and flower viewing. Now Yumie on the other hand is a lustful demon who’s out for blood from anyone who looks at you. She understands you’re young and just takes this as another reason to protect you from the world.

- Heinkel Wolfe: You weren’t really sure about their gender because of their rather androgynous appearance but that mattered not to you. Wolfe really likes that you’re young cause it makes them feel like they have something to protect and it helps them fill the void left by the death of Yumie.

Millennium:

- Schrodinger: A little teasing shot who looks even younger than you. On your way home from school was when you first encountered him. You first thought he was a little boy who was los and you took him home to feed him and help him find his parents. Suddenly he’st on top of you, all mischief saying, “Oh dear, it seems I’ve caught a rather young one this time.”

- The Captain: A caring lover who likes physical contact like hugs and holding your hand. He won’t do it in public and only when you two are completely alone. He has not said a single word to you but you know well enough what he is saying. He cares for you almost like a child since you’re so young. He knows well enough that the youth like risks and so he can freely transform into a werewolf around you.
