Hello, friends! This is me *finally* getting around to about a million weeks worth of tags from @kiwiana-writes (and half a dozen other eternally patient individuals) so... here we go!

This is coming from a little thing that has, of course, spiraled into a much bigger thing (and because what better time of year to write a ghost story than Christmastime, amirite?)

Dreams are such fascinating little things. The rocketfire launching of electricity across the sleeping grey matter of the human brain, reabsorbed into that thing that we call self and played out across the movie screen of the mind like a palimpsest of reality, a being that has been before, but also never ever was.  Dreams have long been Henry’s companion in the world. When he was young, young enough that he could remember the sound of his father’s voice, the soft folds of his face when he smiled evident under Henry’s pudgy fingers and not through the cold, smooth gloss of a picture, he’d liked to think of them as channels on a television. Too scary? Not funny enough? Simply grab the remote, and change the channel. Problem solved. Usually. (He doesn’t and won’t ever talk about the summer he’d watched The Blair Witch Project and had needed to sleep in Bea’s room for over a month.) But then time had pulled its cruelest trick of all, and suddenly the things happening in his waking hours were far harder, far scarier, far nastier in the pit of Henry’s stomach than anything his mind could create to supply him with at night. This is also, coincidentally, the time in his life at which Henry stops sleeping through the night.

So I read the book in 2021 after recording this podfic for Voiceteam—the challenge was called "Pitch N Pod", where the idea was to pull in people to record a podfic for a media they weren't already familiar with. So @schittposting pitched me and a few other team members RWRB, and it was, at least in my case, a very successful pitch. And at the time I made a concentrated decision not to dip my toes into the fandom, because I was still deep in my Schitt's Creek hyperfixation and frankly I didn't have TIME. But I loved the book, and reread it a number of times.

I fully ignored all the film news/casting details/etc as it was coming out, because I was kind of coming off a string of books I loved getting fucking terrible adaptions and I was just... over it lol. Which meant my first exposure to the film was those little short teasers that came out in the days(/week?) leading up to the trailer drop, and I caught those on instagram and was like "okay well the chemistry's there, that's promising". And then the trailer dropped and it made my brain go BRRRR and two days later I'd posted a soulmate fic and then I read basically the entire book fandom tag in the month between the trailer and the film releases. And now here we are 🤣

1. Are you named after anyone?

I chose my alias in part for my dad, but my parents named me after my mom's favorite aunt. I didn't get to know her (she died very young), but I hear she was pretty cool.

2. When was the last time you cried?

This morning lol.

3. Do you have kids?

Nah. I like kids, but I especially like them when I get to give them back to their parents at the end of the day. Under the right circumstances, though, I wouldn't be opposed to co-parenting.

4. What sports do you play/have played?

I have never heard of a sport.

5. Do you use sarcasm?

Often... especially as a coping mechanism for being sad or stressed. Why be sincere when you can be funny?

6. What's the first thing you notice about people?

I think the best way to phrase this is, like... how they carry themselves. Do they seem confident? Insecure? Nervous? Shy? Outgoing? I tend to match people's energies and try to make them feel comfortable, so this is a big part of that.

7. What’s your eye color?

Hazel

8. Scary movies or happy endings?

I mean, if I have to choose... I choose happy endings, BUT I don't really see why that has to be a dichotomy...

9. Any talents?

I can sing very well, and I can act. I won't call myself a triple-threat because, tbh, choreography is not my strong suit. I've got the rhythm but I am always on the wrong foot lmao. My theatre teacher in high school would very often yell, "OTHER FOOT [REDACTED]!" I also know a lot of random facts about stupid shit because I have a talent for absorbing information (and I will go full-on Stevie Ruins Everything if you let me... which I guess is both a talent and an annoyance). I'm also a speed reader with high comprehension.

10. Where were you born?

Houston, Texas (baby).

11. What are your hobbies?

Writing, reading, theatre, word puzzles, some light gaming

12. Do you have any pets?

I have two dogs.

13. How tall are you?

5'5 and a half

14. Favorite subject in school?

Theatre and chorus, if those count. If not, English.

15. Dream job?

I very frequently fantasize about quitting everything and opening up either a doggie daycare or this café/art gallery that lives in my brain — or a café that does coffee and pastries in the morning, but wine/beer and desserts in the evenings with, like, open mic nights and other things like silly painting classes and whatever.
