tw 4 drugs I guess!

daein uses karina to make her feel better. clearly daein has some kind of anxiety disorder or depression and she probably began using drugs to make her feel better. weed makes you relax, if you were already calm there honestly isn’t a lot of reason to take it! from my experience, everyone who I know that smokes has anxiety or some other disorder that they need to use weed to cope with

so daein, while sober, is increasingly anxious. now she would 100% ask for minjeong, because that’s who she wants to be comforted by, but 1. she doesn’t want minjeong to see her like that and 2., mj is mad at her already. she goes to the one person that no matter how bad she gets, she thinks will still “want her” in a way. she pushes people away because she’s scared of disappointing them, she tries to push kr away constantly but it doesn’t work, so she feels safe in a way. because no matter how much she fucks up, she thinks kr will “stay” even if that’s not true.

drug addiction rlly clouds your mind and you feel horrible during withdrawal (not speaking from experience but smth similar has happened to me). you become overly anxious about EVERYTHING and you just feel sick all the time. when you come off hard drugs (coke, crack) it can affect your depression because now you don’t have that dose of serotonin and adrenaline. there are different withdrawal symptoms for all drugs ofc but depending on the reason for usage each withdrawal symptom regarding the mental aspect will be widely different. if you’re abusing xanax, withdrawal will involve anxiety, panic attacks, tremors, insomnia (due to anxiety) etc.

now do I believe that daein took kr’s mom’s pills just to get rid of her withdrawal symptoms? not rlly. I feel like daein is severely self loathing and just hates herself. maybe she’s telling herself it was to just take the edge off but deep down I really feel like she just wanted to od. she’s self destructive and it involves hurting other people. she hates that people care about her because it makes it so much harder to self destruct because there’s always fallout

she doesn’t go to kr because she loves her. she goes to her because she knows she’s safe, and even if she’s her “true self” kr will stay. that isn’t love. daein loves mj and thats exactly why she’s terrified of her seeing her worst self, or what she thinks she truly is. i mean i think if you love someone you don’t want to be your worst version. daein doesn’t want to “get better” for kr, but she does for minjeong in a way. she purposefully does things not to upset her, unlike kr where she truly just doesn’t care.

so yeah I hope daejeong are endgame because daein is just using karina. she’s not in love with her, similar to drugs she’s just using her to make her feel good. daein will do anything to feel good, and if it involves using someone or hurting herself she truly just can’t not do it. she can not control herself

her relationship w eunchae also really makes sense to me I guess. like I get it. my oldest sister is not that different lmao so I can see why eunchae is angry

but if u ask me who I want endgame.. DAEINNIE. JENNIE DAEIN!!! like u don’t get it. jennie wakes her up but her withdrawal symptoms r killing her so jennie has to coax her out of bed and help her and make her brush her teeth yupp yupp see my vision pls understand.. she calls her good girl do u know what that does to a touch starved mf do u know what that does to MENTALLY ILL INDIVIDUALS!! I’m the patron saint of ships that will not happen but should on this blog. like chaeyoung and ningning in business matter and jennie and daeun in hga. like see my vision.. hear me out here WALK WITH ME. daeinnie would fix me

in conclusion. i love this smau omg it’s so good ITS SAUR GOOODDD but pls no daerina endgame they r lowk not in love sawry! toxic yuri is only good when they’re both at least in love but either one is pretending they’re not or can’t be in love w them.

yeah i think you understood daein as a character pretty well and was able to put in words what is going on with her as well as the reasons why she acts the way she does, so i don't really have much to say other than say that this is a pretty good analysis that's worth reading.

just a few things i wanna talk about.

yes, daein is clearly affected by some psychological issue, i would say she's obviously depressed and avoidant of it, that's why she fell into the drug usage. recently in the last update we found out she has a complicated relationship with her father, which may or may not be the reason. also, let's add she was forced to change schools, leave her friends and join a bully secret society by him, which is triggering for someone who's already not doing well and has an addiction to substances.

she always goes for minjeong when she needs "peace," but it's also true she doesn't think she's good enough for her and keeps escaping her so as to not show her true self. still, she seeks comfort in karina too, a different kind, since as you say, she believes karina won't be moved by seeing her at her worst, which doesn't take away she seeks for her help.

about why she took karina's mom's pills, well, there was a lot of her wanting to feel better, but you're right, is not only that. there's something about the fact that she much rather swallow pills again instead of searching for any other type of help, even when she's aware she's supposed to leave them. also, how she knows people will get mad at her and she will still do it. she doesn't have respect for almost anyone else and is long gone from caring about what happens to her. she didn't even care the day after about what happened, she just acted normally.

now here's the thing, i don't think no one believes daein is IN LOVE with karina, because is so obvious she likes minjeong and can't barely stand jimin. and personally, as the author, i don't think she loves minjeong either. not much time have passed since they know each other and daein is never at the school, so for me, it wouldn't make sense to talk about love. i think the focus is more on what it can be in a future and what you prefer: minjeong, who daein likes and tries real hard for, or karina, who has been there for daein at difficult times even when she's aware of how shitty she can be to her.

i disagree a little in the idea that if you love someone you won't show them your true self. while you say "you don't want to," and i kinda agree, love is eventually being the most vulnerable you with the other person. and again, i'm neither daejeong or daerina team, this can apply to both situations.

although again it's too early to talk about love in this story 😅

that daein is using karina i think it's pretty easy to see too, and it's true, but honestly, daein is not good to be around right now in anyway, as you say, she will take advantage of anything to make her pain cease a little.

her relationship with eunchae is more heartbreaking than you people think, and i'm glad you mention it and see it somehow, because that's her little sister she loves so much and is supposed to take care of, but she can't fight herself to do things right so that's another reason of her constant sadness, letting down her sister like that. 😭😭😭

and about daeinnie, i think some people have already joked about it before, but i get it, and i knew someone would eventually come here like "hey.. daein and jennie.." because they do have chemistry and jennie is one of the few people who actually does stuff to take care of daein. AND I KNOW ABOUT GOOD GIRL, I KNOW, I ALSO THINK ABOUT JENNIE CALLING DAEIN GOOD GIRL A LOT 🫴🏼 i get you on this

don't worry, you know i love seeing you ramble in my asks about stuff since you always seek to understand and learn more so your opinions are so interesting, and truth is daein is a peculiar character.

and giselle.. well, she's just tired of jimin as of now, but let's see in a future what she's up to
