Summary: The aftermath of tragedy sends Elain, Sar'een, and Revas to very dark places. Milly has to face her part in the events.
Content Warnings: harm to a minor, amputation, threats of violence, standard dark fantasy fare
Author’s Notes: IT’S BEEN AWHILE. I’ve been chugging along with writing and I’m edging closer to finishing this arc up by September. Instead of posting it all at once like I planned, I’m going ahead and starting a slow drip. That way, I might actually bring back a small audience for the finale! Maybe!
Credits: Ellya, Tala, and all of Clan Abersher’al are the work of @billowsandbreeze.
Excerpt:
“You will certainly understand why we did not attempt to include outsiders to this meeting.” Elain answered instead, and Sar’een was selfishly grateful for it. “The wounds upon my son were grievous.”
“I tended to the wounds myself, if you recall,” Elindra reminded her.
“And for that I am thankful,” Elain answered her easily, “but trust isn’t built upon aid alone. An attempt has been made on my life, and my son suffers even now. Shall I place my hand in a wolf’s mouth, simply because it dropped a bone in front of me?”
Elindra chuckled softly, though there was nothing amusing about the situation. “Am I a wolf now, come to prey on the soft bellies of halla?”
“Anything with teeth looks like a wolf to the halla whose life is in danger.”

Tagged by @brialavellan (thanks bro!!)
Tagging: gosh, I don’t even know who is on this site anymore really. Please, if you see this and want to do it, claim it for yourself!
List your ocs and name one thing they want to hear, one thing they need to hear, and one thing they would dread to hear:
_______________________________
Elain Lavellan:
What they want to hear: “No one could have done what you have done. You are exceptional.”
What they need to hear: “Life will still continue, unfettered and unchanged, even if you do not.”
What they dread to hear: “It was all real.”
________________________________
Revas Lavellan:
What they want to hear: “I forgive you, Papae.”
What they need to hear: “Things weren’t easier then: you just didn’t care.”
What they dread to hear: “You let this happen.”
________________________________
Sar’een Lavellan:
What they want to hear: “I need you.”
What they need to hear: “Serving others before yourself is not the noble pursuit you were taught to believe.”
What they dread to hear: “I’m leaving.”
________________________________
Paeris Diceni:
What they want to hear: “You were right. You were always right.”
What they need to hear: “What you want is not attainable. Nothing you do will change that.”
What they dread to hear: “You are just like your father.”

Summary: Old friends catch up, and new enemies are made.
Content Warnings: graphic depictions of violence, harm to a minor, and animal death. Please read at your own discretion!
Author’s Notes: Been sitting on this one for weeks. Real nervous. But sometimes you just gotta pull the band-aid off and move on.
Thanks to @billowsandbreeze giving me much needed feedback and support during my dark, dark editing days.
Credits: Ellya, Tala, and all of Clan Abersher’al are the work of @billowsandbreeze.
Excerpt:
“I don’t!” Da’paeris declared his intent, then sat down on the bench next to her. He was small for his age, without his mother’s height and leanness, and his shoulders hunched over as if it were natural to him. “I’m a bad dancer.”
Elain sighed, knowing the opportunity had been closed, and decided it was no use to take it out on the ones who didn’t know any better. Save that for the Keepers and some of the scions, both of whom rightfully deserved some ire thrown their way.
Elain leaned in close to Da’paeris, “So is Revas, but that doesn’t stop him.”
“Hey!” Revas protested, but Meira slid out of his grip, caught his free wrist, and forced him to join her in her jumping dance routine. He let Heliwr down from his arm, and encouraged their son to jump along with Meira.
“Oh, no, I’m much worse!” Da’paeris said loudly, then stood up. He shuffled his feet back and forth, then, bobbed his head up and down to the rhythm of the drumbeat playing. “See? I’m terrible!”
Meira stopped her jumping and let go of Revas' arm. “No, I’m bad! Look!” She wiggled her arms, as if they were snakes, then crouched on the ground and scuttled around, like a crab on a beach. Heliwr clapped his hands and laughed loudly at the dancing game.
“We’re all bad dancers, I think!” Da’paeris announced, causing more giggles and incoherent yelling from the younger children. “Come on, Aunt Elain, be a bad dancer with us!”
Elain massaged her forehead briefly, then stood up to join the “bad dancers”. She forced a smile upon herself, handed off Mona to Revas, and scooped Heliwr up and spun him around.
“I do not belong in this troupe of bad dancers,” she announced. “Heliwr and I will escape, then become the elegant dancers we were meant to be!”
Before they could protest, Elain slid past them, towards the larger crowd dancing near them, and joined in. She pivoted to one foot and spun herself and Heliwr around, to his utter delight. He squealed his joy, and she enjoyed watching the wild mane of hair on his head flow out in the breeze she was creating.

Read it here!
Summary: Clan Lavellan are united when the High Keeper arrives to the settlement, but Elain cannot stop the powers that be from stealing her moment.
Content Warnings: Blood, language, drinking.
Author’s Notes: It’s been too long, my friends. We haven’t had an update since last September, but I am finally, FINALLY back into my writing bullshit. Writing everyday, liking what I do, having fun!
A huge shout out to @billowsandbreeze for looking this over, doing some editing, and doing Camp NaNo with me so I stay motivated; and to @intergalactix for doing some hardcore copy editing on my draft with great feedback. You two are the best, love you! <3
Credits: Ellya, Tala, and all of Clan Abersher’al are the work of @billowsandbreeze. Arcadia, Daughter of the Path, is @rpgmimi‘s character!
Excerpt:
He sighed, then kissed the top of a content Heliwr’s head. “Worst feeling in the world, you know. Being as useless as this. Wanting to do something—anything at all—and not being able to. I’m just a drunk old man with a body that’s dying faster every month, and, no matter how much I want to, I can’t help the kid who I took under my wing after I got his father killed.”
Revas downed the rest of the bottle. “Blighted wolves killed him, not you.”
“Under my command.”
He had nothing to say to that. How could he argue? Revas still thought the same thing, even after all these years. The pain and anger of it was blunted by experience now, after his mistakes with Llyn. It still found its home in his heart, though—a wound that would never truly heal.
Den didn’t wait for an acknowledgement from him: “I’ve made a lot of mistakes, Revas. But I never used my position to try to fix them. I don’t want to be everyone else's responsibility. I really don’t.”
“You’re afraid I won’t do the same.”

My betas, @billowsandbreeze and @intergalactix, are angels, and both liked this chapter, so you should too! Besides, Warlord Unya needs a few more fans ;)

Read it here!
Summary: Revas and Sar'een are visited by unexpected guests; Milly gets an offer she can't refuse.
Content Rating: Referring to slave life in Tevinter, and all the violence, death, and mental anguish that would accompany it.
Author’s Notes: I am so, so excited to share this chapter with you guys! It’s the one I’ve been dying to share, because I think it’s really, really fun, and it’s where the story elements of this arc start to overlap and paint a bigger picture of where I’m going. Can’t wait to hear what everyone thinks of it!
Revas and Sar’een, as always, belong to @drathe.

"It breaks my heart to hear such jaded words from you. If only I could've protected the young woman who went to the Conclave."
"But you didn't."
Summary: After her ascension as Maiden of the Hunt, nothing seems to be able to get in Elain of Clan Lavellan’s way. But when a mission to the Conclave goes awry and her friend Sar’een is elevated to Inquisitor, it sets off a chain reaction that will change Elain, Sar’een, and the Dalish – forever.
Content Rating: None.
Author’s Notes:
I’m off my “Learning How to Love My Writing Again” hiatus. I have several chapters in the bank, and will be posting updated every 2-3 weeks, depending on how much progress I make on new ones.
Sar’een and Revas belong to beautiful frut @drathe. Massive shoutout to @billowsandbreeze for beta’ing for me and giving me great feedback. Love you both!

She began singing a song, the words low at first, growing louder after each line. The hunters began to sing along with her, and somewhere in the crowd behind them, Glover heard some other elves playing hand drums. His guards joined in, as well as most of the trailing crowd. Their voices resonated across the plains, filling the air like a fog.
He didn't understand the words, but he knew the song. After the Fifth Blight, elven ballads became all the rage in Orlais after a knife-ear warden killed off the Archdemon. A gorgeous bard in Jadar sang this song in a tavern he was frequenting a couple of years ago. It was some kind of hunting blessing, she told him. She was singing it alone with a lute though, making it sound pretty. The way these elves sang it was ominous. The drums imitated a heartbeat, the lyrics were more accented, and the voices were deeper and slower. This wasn't meant to be a little upbeat jig like the bard sang.
This was a war song.
“Scared yet, shemlen?” the tall mage asked him.
“Me? Nah, just enjoying some music,” Glover responded, forcing himself to keep his voice level. Showing weakness now would do him in.
“Do you know what the song is about?” the mage questioned.
“Nope. Sorry, don't speak the language,” he replied back.
“It's a plea to our goddess, asking Her to make Her prey clever and fast, so that the hunters may savor the chase of the gifts She gives them,” the mage explained.
“And I suppose me and my colleagues here are the gifts?” Glover observed.
The tall mage merely smiled before starting to sing along with the crowd.
Summary: Elain of Clan Lavellan has been training her entire life to earn the title "Maiden of the Hunt". When the time comes to claim her birthright, she finds it more difficult than she could possibly imagine.
Content Rating: Mature, for explicit sexual scenes, graphic violence, language, and mental illness.
Author’s Notes: This is part one of two in my Death and the Maiden series. It’s an expansive story following the life of Elain Lavellan, Maiden of the Hunt. This part takes place prior to Inquisition, and expands greatly on Dalish ritual and religion. I’ve taken a lot of liberties, and the story is about four years old now, but it still packs a pretty entertaining punch. Enjoy!
Acknowledgements: The characters of Revas and Sar’een belong to my frut @drathe who has graciously let me write them for the last four years. Thank you, my walnut

“You’re the villain of my story, Elain, and every hero wants to see the villain brought to justice. Live with that.”
Content Rating: Mature, for explicit sexual scenes, graphic violence, abuse, character death, mental illness.
Author’s Notes: Part two of my Death and the Maiden series. This story has been called “The Game of Thrones of Dragon Age” be reviewers, and I truly couldn’t be prouder of what I’m accomplishing here. I went from having never written anything in my life, to writing a half-million word series based in the Dragon Age world. I’ve grown not only as a writer, but as a person because of this. It truly is my raison d’etre.

“Truth”
Summary: Inquisitor Lavellan meets her childhood crush again.
Pairings: OC Lavellans pairing mention
Rating: Mature
Content warning: Strong language, gore (burn)
Author’s notes: My fanfiction for April Fool’s bodyswap.
Sar’een looked closely at Revas, trying to focus on every small detail of his face. He hasn’t changed at all; he still had that spark of an asshole in his eye, just like she remembered.
“So we meet again.” It was him who broke the silence. She could see his judging eyes wandering all over her, like she was some kind of prey he wanted to kill. She used to love this look, but now... She wasn’t the same Sar’een he knew.
“That we do.” The mage nodded slowly.
“You’ve changed. A lot.”
“I have.”
“But you’re still skinny.”
“And you’re still an asshole.”
They both knew she was right.
