absolutely fascinated by people saying the darkling committed genocide. is this the result of them not reading the books or is this the result of stringent moral policing in fandom spaces defining how people interpret media online? or perhaps is this the result of said moral policing creating a feedback loop of misinformation for those that don't remember the books too well?

Ik what your stance is on liking Griffs character and I have nothing against it because Griffith's character is arguably one of the best written characters in Berserk, he's actually my guilty favorite.
But sometimes, I catch myself SILENTLY judging ppl who like characters that do morally incorrect things like Mori from Bungou Stray Dogs who's a straight up p*do or same with Hisoka or many other characters who tend to be p*dos and r*pists.
so i guess my question sorta fall in, when do you draw the line in liking a character?
I mean, Griffith did unfortunately rape casca (a horrible writing decision, really). anyways, I guess I sorta try to seek justification like "Oh but Miura wrote the rape scene in such a ridiculous way that I can't seem to really fully have the idea that Griff is a rapist in mind"
or sometimes i just yk, love the character design and how he was written (esp post eclipse god, he is awesome!!)
but sometimes...I see ppl who are justifably upset that I like a character that happens to SADLY have a stupidly written key point where he rapes a character.
And I don't blame ppl who hate Griff for raping her, bc theres been times where I also hate charcters for how they were pedos or also SA'd someone...so why is the line so blurry when it comes to liking Griffith and how can I ig put myself in a position where I don't feel bad for liking him?
tbh I don't have a line when it comes to fictional characters.
Or maybe more accurately, my line isn't which characters people like, but how they discuss them. I wouldn't judge someone (morally, I might judge their taste lol) for liking any character ever, no matter how awful, because I don't know what they like about them, what their lines are, what they feel comfortable ignoring or reasoning away or happily playing up because they like dark shit in fiction, etc. It's all fair game as far as I'm concerned. If they like a rapist I don't assume they love real rape, I assume they like dark fiction and consider them a really well-written villain, or they like other aspects of the character and the rape doesn't ruin it for them, or they like the character design and don't care that much about fictional crimes, or maybe they have a rape kink which is also perfectly fine, etc.
But yk, when people use harmful rhetoric to discuss a character they like, that's when I start judging. Eg I'm fine with people who love Guts. I'm not fine with people who say things like "Casca should forgive Guts for the assault because he stopped himself before going too far," eg. I'd be fine if they said "Casca should forgive Guts because it would make for a more satisfying story" though - I'd judge their taste in fiction and ability to analyze the story lol, but I don't think that opinion would make them a bad person. I'm fine with people who love Farnese, I'm fine with people who prefer her to Casca, but I'm not fine with anyone who might frame it like, Farnese is better than Casca because she's rich and white and from a respectable family. (I've never seen this take lol, but yk, as a hypothetical.)
Also in my personal experience I find that people who like characters due to their own offensive biases tend to have a hard time hiding it, so it's pretty easy to judge them by their own character, rather than their fictional preferences. And in my own experience the worst kinds of people tend to like heroic characters more than villains lol. If anything I find that liking characters who do "morally incorrect things" is often a sign that I'll get along with that person.
There's also something to be said here re: watsonian vs doylist perspectives. I think people who view media from a purely watsonian perspective, ie kind of buying into the fictional story as if it's real, attempting to understand the characters the way someone would understand a real person and relate to them on those terms, are going to have a harder time dealing with morally dark characters.
I tend to view media from a doylist perspective, which means I view the characters as constructions that help tell a story, and I generally judge them on what they bring to that story and how effectively they serve it. I wouldn't want to be friends with most of my faves, and I like a lot of characters who do terrible things, because those characters are fun to watch and read about. So disliking a character just because they did a bad thing doesn't really make sense to me on a personal level. I get why other people feel that way, but I don't care about fictional harm. I'll hate a character for being mildly annoying when they're on screen, but I generally won't hate a character for committing atrocities, unless they're depicted in a way that pisses me off lol. Like, I love Femto, I hate Isidro. Femto is cool even with the obnoxious rape scene, Isidro is annoying even though he's an innocent kid.
(Also I guess to be completely fair I'd judge someone for liking a character who exists solely as like, fascist political propaganda. But I do mean solely, like I'm talking shit like The Turner Diaries, not like the MCU or cop shows lol. Or like, if someone says they love the protag of Atlas Shrugged they'd better clarify that they disagree with the political messaging and they like him for xyz reasons, because it's such an infamously libertarian story that I'm gonna side-eye anyone who likes it by default, bc I feel like in this day and age very few people are reading Ayn Rand for the story lol. So I do technically have some lines in terms of judging fans of characters, but they're pretty uncommon lines.)
tl;dr I don't think you should feel bad for liking Griffith and idt you should even feel like you have to justify it by saying the rape scene was badly written. It was, and I think it's totally fair if that helps you like Griffith more, but even if the rape scene was super well-written and respectful to Casca and thematically significant etc etc Griffith would still be a fantastically written character imo.
And I don't know the other examples you gave personally, but as a general rule I think it's better to judge people for how they behave than for what kinds of fiction they enjoy. I do at least have friends who like Hisoka, presumably because he's a fun, entertaining character give or take the creepiness, and they're awesome people.
I don't think you should have to like those characters yourself ofc, rape/pedophilia/etc etc is a pretty understandable line to draw in terms of your own enjoyment of a fictional character, but other people have different lines and I think that's reasonable too.

10 Anti LO Asks
1. Are death gods like a class lower than Olympian gods? Minthe says that Hades can buy all the suits in the world and still stink of death and Apollo refers to Thanatos as Poor Man’s Heremes and also reeks of death. Do they smell bad, or do people just hate them for existing? You’d think they’d be a little more fear controlling death/underworld
2. for the person saying "come on, persephone being a self insert isn't bad" completely misses the point. As a young writer I used to have self inserts until I realized that my favoritism overshadowed the narrative and didn't allow for my characters to experience consequences or be in the wrong. This is how creator's pets get made, and no one likes those because they ruin the story and take away attention from other (more interesting) characters! (1/2)
We are clearly seeing this in LO. Persephone is essentially a perfect little goddess who keeps getting powers, is probably going to be revealed as one of the strongest goddesses, and her issues (sans the two giant ones we know what it is) almost never personally affect her. No one gets angry at her in a meaningful way unless the narrative wants us to demonize them, and when they suddenly "see the light" and go to her side, they're rewarded! THAT'S why persephone as a S.I is bad
3. Ok. I think Daphene and Thanatos are the best ship. I would read this story...also,Thanatos is the grim reaper...how metal would be if he take down LO Apollo and LO Hades? Yes, I'm aware this would be impossible in the.original myths but HEY why not? RS is not caring for the source material
4. RS’s writing is such a mess of contradictions between actuality and intent it’s hilarious: 1) Hades is supposed to be seen as a good guy yet is portrayed as a tyrant who somehow still manages to be a Gary Stu. 2) Persephone is simultaneously overpowered (fertility goddess powers) and powerless (is just a college kid) to the point where she’s viewed as a spoiled rich brat living consequence-free and destitute young woman left with no options but to marry to get out of trouble
3) Artemis is supposed to represent a separatist feminist yet is depicted as foolish, British and out of the loop for humorous effect by the poss poor excuse of a comic which calls itself ‘a feminist feeling’. 4) The lack of time skips coupled with RS’s need to give HxP as many ‘cute’ moments as possible makes the comic’s progress feel slow for the reader when it’s actually progressing at breakneck speed if you go by the character’s timeframe.
5) Wants to treat SA with nuance and sensitivity (RS almost manages to do it at first) but then uses Persephone’s rape as trauma porn, a means for pushing her closer to Hades while reminding the reader of his differences from Apollo and a means of furthering the side plots (Artemis’s descent into depressed confusion, Eros and Psyche’s romance, Hera’s quest to get the mains together).
5. i genuinely do not want to see whatever reason rachel thinks up to have zeus and demeter not like each other because it's either going to be a "shock" incest twist (unlikely) or it's going to be something akin to how she made apollo to persephone and maybe zeus stole her "fertility" and thats why she couldnt have persephone naturally and why demeter isnt a fertility goddess but persephone is. like no writing choice is good in this so i guess brace for the worst from her in this regard.
6. i honestly get sad looking at old LO art because not only is all the charm gone, but the colors also got way worse. hades used to be this subdued, rich dark blue with icy blue hair while persephone was a nice shade of pastel pink with magenta hair, but now theyre all one shade of neon. there used to be choices put into the art but now its just lazy. like hades looks like a blue highlighter, and persephone like her personality is only one nauseatingly bright shade and thats it 😞
7. i feel like if at least the writing in LO was good the art would excusable, you know what i mean? and the same can be said in reverse, but both are just so bad (or was never good to begin with) that it just seems inexcusable? like at least put effort into one, not half assing at best for both.
8. i mean for all we know bc thats how how psyche normally looks the braids are just a nymph disguise that basically pops away once shes human looking again. regardless the whole thing is nasty once you think about it and idk what we expected from a white woman to begin with. she thinks persephone revolving her whole world and being dependent on hades is feminist and making a canon bi god a r//pist is groundbreaking too like ....
9. lets add to the psyche is black-coded discourse: anyone want to mention how nasty it is she was literally sold off to a WHITE MAN for eros to save her from (ignoring the fact he proceeded to lie to her while having a sexual relationship), made her loving parents into abusive assholes, and psyche just happens to be the only character who is illiterate despite being a princess? the whole thing reeks of internalized racism on rachel's part, and her now giving her braids kinda makes it worse, tbh.
-----FP Spoilers-----
10. Is it me? Or in the fast past episode were they showed one of the muses Polymnia (or Polyhymnia) they mixed her with Clio??? Because Zeus calls her "the goddess/muse of history" but Polymnia is acutally the muse of hymns, CLIO is the muse of history, how did they get that wrong? Her name literally means "a lot of hymns"! And why is there a muse in this??? Even she says that she shouldn't be there because she doesn't work in anything similar to law, did Zeus really asked her to make a POEM in a TRAIAL??? For what exactly? Make Persephone look bad?

Controversial Hetalia Meme Ask
Since I don't get asks I'm just gonna offer my opinion out there lol
Do you consider the 2Ps to be insane or no?
Oh yes definitely. I know some fans are against the idea of insane 2P characters but I've been on board with it since I've first discovered it. When it comes to 2P!, I don't think these Hetalia characters exist in the same world/dimension. That's why when fans ask "oh what does 1P!America think of 2P!America," I don't even think exist in the same verse.
Opinions on HRE?
I was never into chibitalia and HRE but one things certain, I truthfully believe Germany is HRE.
What do you consider a big no-no in the fandom?
France is a r*pist and Spain is a p*do really bothered me. Fans don't realize how hard it is for France to be such a passionate, loving nation only to live for so long without having an s/o to grow old with. Spain loves children I believe so I feel he'd be so disheartend to hear fans think of him that way.
Thoughts on Seychelles?
I'll say this, Seychelles was a way for Hima to embody Hetalia fangirls and in the end she was crucified by the same fans who felt she was a threat to their ships. Think about it, Seychelles is cheerful, and shy which I know very well many fangirls act the same way. She was even the main character of Gauken Hetalia which was Hima's way to put us in her place, like we were part of the hetaliaverse. Maybe this is a western fans perspective but the way she was treated was horrible. She deserves so much better...
Thoughts on any of the Hetalia girls?
They obviously don't get enough screen time and if there was a movie about them, I would support it. But let's be honest, Hetalia is fan service and Hima isn’t obligated to showcase diversity compared to western creators. I really like Taiwan and Seychelles because I think they're like me!
Do you think the Nyos are offensive?
I would be perfectly fine with the Nyos if it wasn't for their skimpy clothes. As soldiers, I thought it'd be cool to see them in proper uniforms but they weren't :( But like I said, fanservice, you've got to cater to the crowd.
Thoughts on controversial ships? (i.e: UsUk, Spamano, Itacest, etc.)
I've never been a shipper tbh because I'm more of a historical hetalia fan. I've never liked USUK or Spamano because I feel these characters grew up like brothers. Especially Spamano, I don't feel right thinking Spain sees Romano in a romantic way after taking care of him as a young boy. Itacest, Germancest, and AmeCan is a big no no for me. It makes me uncomfortable tbh.
Do you think the fandom is toxic?
Every fandom is toxic but Hetalia got so bad at one point and now I think it won't go back to that unless there is a huge revival (ex. new season/movie). Idk if I'm a new side of the fandom but I really like the historical hetalia side because they are all educated, exciting and go past the two-dimensional character personalities.
What do you think makes a "bad ship"?
I can't really imagine a bad ship because if you love two characters seperately and think they will get along, it's up to you. Like Prussia and South Korea? I would never imagine an interaction between the two but I think they would be fun together.
Thoughts on cosplays using historical taboo outfits? (i.e: Germany as a Nazi, etc.)
Ugh, this was such an issue in the fandom and I agree, it's horrible. I honestly don't understand why they would do that in the first place because Hetalia disregards the connection between Germany and the nazi government.
Thoughts on political fanart?
I think depictions of war are okay but it's a big no no to do recent events or Germany or Prussia in concentration camps.
Thoughts on cosplayers cosplaying as a character of a different nationality/race?
As long as their not doing blackface, or yellowface it should be fine in my opinion. I don't really care about cosplay.
How do you feel about younger people in the fandom?
I joined the fandom when I was like 12? My advice is always be weary about who you interact with in the fandom. Some fans may not realize what they spout...
Do you think certain ships are canon/will become canon?
No not at all, I think Hima is good at teasing tho. I think everyone agrees GerIta is mostly canon but Hima won't outright admit it. Example would be Buon San Valentino because he dropped so many hints but it wasn't "exactly" a canon relationship. It'll stay that way unless two countries unite together like AusHun.
Do you think Hetalia is taken too seriously?
When people talk about how it's propoganda and racist (pfft) definitely yes. People tend to forget this show is based off of Japanese stereotypes and not every show is westernized. If it was really racist, each character would be horribly called out on a past event or their physcial appearances are exaggerated. Their flaws are something we point out and laugh about because, yes, Americans really are too loud and friendly. See? Harmless.
Thoughts on headcanons about a character that defies canon? (i.e; changing a character's gender, race, etc.)
I can't think of an example of this but I always strictly follow canon.
Thoughts on straight ships?
Again, I'm not a shipper but I do like PruHun to an extent. I wish I had an idiot like Prussia lol
What ships do you consider abusive?
Again, I don't pay attention to ships.
Do you think a blogger should have to Trigger Tag a ship or character?
That sounds a little ridiculous because I don't consider any ships or characters triggering tbh. If someone did, then I’m sorry i have too many posts to go back and tag everything.
What ships do you consider toxic?
N/A
Do you think any characters are/will be canonly LGBT?
Oh yes definitely! But they have to be picky-choosy with which era they choose to be open about it. You cannot tell me Spain was openly gay for most of the middle ages under the Catholic church. In modern time, it's no big deal so I see them willingly going out and flirting or crushing on all genders. Then, I also see Prussia (who is former Teutonic Knight) who had a promise with God about virginity. I think his mindset and values are the same so he rarely gets involved with anyone. It happens every century or so?
Do you think Hetalia sugar coats/numbs actual historical events?
If Hetalia didn't sugar coat historical events, it wouldn't be a cutesy anime. They have to sugarcoat as to not offend anyone and because the nature of the show is purely comedy. There have been numb moments in the show like all of Davie but that's to show a deeper perspective that nations face as immortals.
How do you feel about Mafia AUs?
I used to really like them, but realized it's the same thing as cartels and gangs. If someone did a cartel AU for all the latin countries I would raise hell, so I imagine Italian fans feeling the same way. Idk I'm still deciding on it...
How do you feel about WWII AUs?
Being a historical hetalia fan I actually really like it. Of course if it's done in a respectful manner. I like hearing about fighter pilot America and sniper Russia. I like to hear about how Prussia was treated like shit because he wasn't the ideal blonde hair, blue eyes like his brother. I like to hear France and England having to team up despite not liking eachother and how devastated England was when France fell to Germany. I also like to hear about Denmark protecting all the Danish jews and defying against Germany. I like to hear the amounting pressure Japan must've felt having to please his boss while backstabbing China and Korea, the people he loves dearly as family, at the same time. So yes, I do like WWII AUs but I'm happy Hima has strayed away from that topic. It's not everyone's cup of tea...

We know that Zen isn't a r/pist, but "I can't control the beast around you" is a little r/pey. If Zen, a grown man, cannot control his sexual urges & desires to the point he has to get MC to leave, it comes off as creepy- not sexy. (If it were an established thing in a relationship then sure, it wasn't). Yes, every character has their flaws, Zen's are creepy. It's not a protective thing, it's a sexual thing. This is also connected to the fact that he treats MC as a weak woman who can't do shit.
Yeah that’s exactly it. Like I’m not saying Zen is a rapist and I hope it didn’t sound like I was but sometimes the things he says… well, they do sound kind of rapey. And plus he projects that onto other RFA members too, like how he’s constantly worried about Jumin* and Seven forcing themselves on MC. Which okay, I can get the worry? Like if I knew my friend/roommate was somewhere alone with a guy and she wasn’t coming home I’d check to make sure that she’s okay, but like, I wouldn’t be so aggressive about it and if she assures me that she’s okay and comfortable I’d leave it alone, you know? She can make her own decisions. And she’d do the same for me so like being cautious and protective isn’t a bad thing but Zen’s protectiveness comes off as more creepy and overbearing than cute to me. It’s one thing to check on MC but at a certain point you need to back off dude. Seven never gives any indication that he’s thinking about sex with MC at all in his own route until like the very end of it, and while Jumin certainly does some inappropriate shit in his route it’s never really sexual? Like ignoring that one bad ending that everyone makes way too big a thing out of, he doesn’t bring up sex that much in his route it’s always other characters who do and I think he does it like twice? One time is if he’s really pushed to admit that yeah sex was on his mind sometimes but it’s also clear that he wasn’t planning on acting on it and he only brings it up at all if you choose options that try to get him to admit it. Jumin really isn’t as interested in sex as people make him out to be honestly but that’s a whole other discussion (hey Sophie can you stay on topic ever jfc) the point is Zen is projecting a lot of things on Seven and Jumin that just aren’t there, and I guess he can’t know that those things aren’t there and again it’s nice that he checks on her!! but MC keeps telling you she’s fine and that you need to calm down dude so like… maybe calm down a bit?? I just don’t find the Overprotective Big Brother bit charming I find it annoying let me live my life dude
There’s also the fact that he seems to think there’s no possible way that MC could actually want to have sex too? Even when she says she does he kind of just brushes it off like “no you can’t mean that don’t say that”. Like he seems to take it as a given that she doesn’t want sex because he sees her as too innocent and fragile to possibly want it and it’s odd tbh
This is all verging on some uncomfortable and heavy territory so we should probably stop discussing Zen now before this becomes too big and gets away from me but uh yeah those are my Thoughts
*Obviously there’s a lot going on in Jumin’s route that would be cause for concern so whether Zen’s protectiveness is appropriate there is very much subject to debate. I was on the side of finding it annoying but I mean, that’s mainly because of my personal feelings about Jumin and Zen and the route as a whole. I get why Jumin’s route is uncomfortable for a lot of people and I also get why Zen’s protectiveness there would be seen as sweet and comforting to most, but it was never going to be for me

(book anon) hey what do you think of 13 reasons why? (the show, I never read the book) My heart literally broke when I found out Jeff died too, all he wanted to do was get better grades and help his nerdy friend get the girl. Also, I started to like Justin more because of his home situation and once he realized he'd made a mistake by keeping the secret from Jess, he cut off all ties with Bryce and that takes real guts to just cut off your best friend (don't get me wrong, he was still awful).
(book anon) sorry my emotions could not be contained into one ask. Because POOR CLAY. He was just the sweetest, most oblivious boy ever. I loved that he was just so unapologetically him. It was so incredibly sad to watch him listen to his tape and omg Tony is the real mvp with always being by Clay's side, no wonder his bf got jealous. Also, did you read the book? Did it ever say anything about the endings for the other kids? Like why on earth did Tyler have all those guns???
BOOK. ANON.
I seriously have to put my feelings under a cut because they got so out of hand and LONG. I’m sorry. I love you. Read on.
I’m blown away. That show really affected me in a way I didn’t expect it to. I read the book before I could relate to it, and I remember really liking it, but I wasn’t prepared for the series to touch me the way it did so many years later. I’m still pretty shaken, actually lol.
Jeff was so GOOD. He was good. He was the best. So good. Like there was literally not one thing wrong with him. He was SO kind, and he was trying to pass his classes, and he thought the founding fathers were potheads asdfghkl. And he didn’t just want to repay Clay for helping him pick up his grades, he genuinely wanted to help out this dorky outsider who he, a popular, attractive jock, considered his friend with something that he was struggling with -- talking to the girl he liked. I was devastated when I realized Jeff was the other kid that died. I started wondering why we only saw him in flashbacks, you know? It’s so unfair. I guess that was the point. Death is senseless.
I definitely sympathize with Justin but I don’t like him. I know his issues stem from the toxic environment he was raised in but. I dunno. There are just some things you know better than to do, I feel, no matter where you’re from or how you’re raised. Spreading a nasty rumor about someone is one thing. Not fighting hard enough to stop your best friend from r*ping your girlfriend? Keeping it a secret from her? Never reporting it? Actively trying to keep it quiet “for Jess’ benefit” and protecting her r*pist in the process? That’s just...unforgivable. This applies to Hannah too, tbh, though her intent was less...selfish? Malicious? Anyway, I agree with you 100%. He got a nod at the screen from me when he finally cut Bryce off. But that was it lol.
CLAY IS MY BOY. He’s seriously my type of guy. Dorky and bashful and goodhearted and true to himself (although he DID have insecurities too, Hannah!). I’ve seen some people say he was just another boring, pasty white boy protagonist and I dunno. Maybe in any other story he would be but I think the situation he and every other character was thrown into made it difficult for that to be applicable. Not wrong about the white part, but, to me, he wasn’t typical. Though Hannah saying Clay wasn’t like other boys and that he was different from every other guy was like...a little annoying because it came off as one of those “not ALL guys” and “not like OTHER girls” sentiments that are meant to divide the genders. Too feministy? Anyway, I fucking love Clay lmao. I remember getting to his tape in the book and being disappointed because it seemed like the author was giving him a free pass? Like, he didn’t actually do anything? So why was he even relevant? I don’t remember Clay and Hannah being as close in the books so it was off key to me. THE SHOW, THOUGH. Now I understand that he was really a huge part of Hannah’s story, and he had to be included in the one she was telling. Like she said, he was her glimpse of light when all she saw was darkness. That’s what he was amidst the 13 other tapes too. And he deserved to know why Hannah did what she did and he deserved to know he did nothing wrong but he also needed to know that he could have tried just a little bit more. That everyone could have tried just a little bit more.
Clay’s tape completely messed me up, though. He and Hannah liked each other SO MUCH. They were literally bursting at the seams with how much they liked each other. Their feelings boiled up and bubbled over the lid so hard that it got to the point at Jessica’s party where they were just like “fuck it, you know I like you,” and they were STILL SHEEPISH ABOUT IT. My heart. I’m so weak. But that’s also what got them in the end, too. They were too afraid to love each other. Hannah pushed Clay away and then Clay pushed Hannah away and then they were back to square one and it was too late I’ll never get over that. It really put things in perspective for me and my own relationships as well. You need to be brave enough to tell people how you feel.
On the other hand, of course, that screwed Hannah over a million times.
Tony is ACTUALLY AN ANGEL. God dropped down from Heaven and told me himself. He pointed to Tony on my laptop screen then gave me a thumbs up and a pat on his own back. Angel: confirmed. Tony was another person who did no wrong. Like, maybe the whole delivering of the tapes thing wasn’t really RIGHT but. His intentions were always, always, always good. I’m glad he realized Ryan was a selfish prick and found Brad. WHO IS ALSO LOWKEY WONDERFUL. I’d be a lot more openly agitated if my boyfriend was devoting so much time to Clay. And maybe Tony’s wisdom was bothersome at points but it turns out he was a better fucking counselor than the real fucking counselor and just wanted to look out for his friend and give him space to think and process and grieve. Also, when he calls Clay his friend on top of that cliff? I clutched my chest. It was aching so good. Wholesome friendships are my kryptonite.
I read the book YEARS ago so I don’t remember what happens to the other kids, but I’m pretty sure nothing does? Their stories were hardly as intricate as in the show, especially since it was all written through the perspectives of Hannah and Clay. I don’t think the lawsuit was even a thing. Clay just listened to the tapes and that was about it. I’m pretty sure all of the bad things they did were the same but there were no repercussions? And Alex didn’t try to kill himself and Tyler definitely DID NOT BUY GUNS LIKE WHAT ?!?
That’s partly why I think there will probably be a second season (thank God). Because pretty sure they’re gonna make Tyler a school shooter, or try to be. Jesus. Also, we need to know what happens with Alex. We need to see the rest of the kids be interviewed. We need to see Clay and his mom CLEAR THE AIR about everything. We need to see what Hannah’s parents do after hearing her tapes. We need to see Bryce fry in Hell.
So much was left unresolved. The only thing is, I don’t know how they’d incorporate the same amount of Hannah in a second season. :\
I’m so sorry this got so long? This show just changed my life is all lol.

6 Anti LO Asks
1. It's funny how Psyche tells her sisters about Eros
"He's actually listening to me when we talk" but it's never actually shown. There's no small accidental gesture or phrase that could reveal Ampelus as Psyche to Eros. Eros was oblivious about it all along and that's...pretty telling.
2. Hades character is hard to follow he sorta starts out spineless and then he becomes this asshole CEO but then he’s sorta spineless faced against Hecate, Minthe, his brothers, and sometimes Hera. And with Persephone it’s like a father figure with “no little goddess!” Or “please wake up little goddess”. When Hera said that hades wanted someone you and easy to impress she wasn’t wrong. It’s a lot of tell not show.
3. I feel like it’s kinda a sign of bad writing too that despite going on four years now that the only “iconic” moment of LO is the “do I look like a scoundrel to you?” (Paraphrasing obvs) scene from episode three I think and that’s it? Like they’ve made out several times by now and are even thinking marriage (which is laughable after only two weeks of knowing each other, but ok) and yet still the fandom clings to that one scene and that only as proof of memorability and romance? ESP when it’s a scene that kinda weirdly reinforces Persephone is way too naive and immature to be with this guy? It’s just weird.
4. that's definitely it. rachel is confusing parallels for contrasts, and its weird no one has bothered to try and steer her away from it? because it just ends up setting up hades and the relationship to HxP to be one of toxicity, replacement for who he actually wants (hera and/or his MOM), manipulation, and even sexual coercion for?? tho seeing her last two editors quit the entire company after working for her, maybe she's not one to actually listen to the people who are there to help her 🤷🏿♀️
5. TBH i wish the English webtoon marketing would actually be truthful and not lie LO is a "worldwide hit" when it only dominates on the english speaking servers. you can check any other server (LATAM, French, German, etc) and see it lags behind other titles, with it absolutely bombing in Asian countries. The Korean and Indonesian servers especially hate it, where the latter even has it as one of their lowest rankings series EVER. The West is not the world, sorry to say.
6. literally the last thing you want to do is have your romantic lead be compared both in personality and looks-wise to his abusive, evil father who is the big bad, as well as have him do the same actions as his love interests literal r//pist, nor do you want to have your lead be the same as both his abused mother (right down to her looks) and be like his True Love™️ who neither seem to be over each other, yet rachel thinks thats a good idea?? like even beginner writers know not to do that??

10 Anti LO Asks
1. ok but thats also i think i dont get? because without the series or character names, what of any of the promo images or banner or anything else give away it's supposed to be a greek mythology story? they just look like people with weird anatomy who are colored like highlighters. at the very least some iconography should be on them, but there's not? like even percy jackson stuff makes sure to give him a trident and have water flowing around him.
2. rachel made three times where persephone could have made the choice to be with hades willingly and didnt do it each time. first time she was drugged and put into his car, where he phsyically handles her unconscious body and puts her in his bed (ew). second is her working for him, which was hera forcing it. third was her going to the underworld not because she wanted to, but because she was hiding from the law/apollo and he found her. where exactly is her agency in all of this?
3. LO seems like the fast food of webtoons. because there's no room to speculate or theorize, you just read an episode and move on, the bright colors distract that it's a rushed and lazy product over something with high quality and effort, the characters are flat and boring, and the plot has no substance. it's meant to be consumed in a rapid binge, because if not you realize what low-effort and what little you're actually getting from it when you slow down and actually think about it.
4. i mean rachel does have some logic to her fancasting, the problem is it seems the only people of color are either demonized for being hypersexual (aphrodite, eros until he's with psyche) or are literally r//pists who are out to harm her white-fa casted persephone (apollo), so yeah, there is logic there, it's just pointing to rachel being (hopefully unintentionally) racist
5. It pisses me so much that I work over time (using references and looking at paintings and reading history for ideas for interesting character motifs) so that any of the ancient greek characters I draw look cool and authentically greek, and yet fucking Rachel Smythe, who can't even be bothered to do more than 5 seconds of research to learn that not all ancient greek outfits were shitty, minimalist off white and eggshell, gets to be revered as an artistic revolutionary. It pisses me off so. Fucking. Much. Not just for me, but for everyone else like me who absolutely ADORES greek mythology and wants to draw accurate portrayals of these characters! To whoever is reading this, stop. Stop rn and go read Sleep and His Brother Death (a comic on webtoons), go play Hades (the video game), go read The Song of Achilles (a book by Madeline Miller). Those are beautiful pieces of fiction about Greek mythology that deserve your attention more then Rachel and her shitty pink highlighter self inserts.
And a sidenote, I know that this is kinda like a modern AU for the gods. I am aware. Does not change that fact that anytime any character is drawn in ancient greek fashion it's always the SAME. SHITTY. CHITON. Maybe with a.cape or a scarf, but for the most part? It's just the same stupid, off white chiton.
6. oh, i thought you guys were joking persephone is now stuck with red eyes. is that seriously what look we're stuck with now? does rachel know it looks really ugly?
7. i feel like the lineart less style actually hurts LO in a way. way too often you can look at a panel and it becomes really murky where something starts and ends, and it looks even worse on a phone screen, because on an even smaller screen the images look even more compressed, making it even harder to tell stuff apart. this wouldnt be as bad if the comic took back up its more high contrast look from the begging, but now it's all one flat shade and im not sure why.
8. im really confused over the marketing of LO, tbh. like the ads are all hxp focused, but the series name implies its not about them, but focusing on the 12 olympians, but then the synopsis is general mythology and at the very end randomly mentions its about persephone? but then you read it and nots sure whether its a teen romance, a comedy, a serious drama, and can't stay straight with its messaging and timeline? and persephone is not there for a chunk of time. like whats actually going on?? 😭
9. Chapter 173 is like 50% filler. It gives more questions that answers, and not just from the reporters. Like the reporter stuff was mostly filler, and the Persphone and Hades stuff was like yeah we know dont need to drag this on.
My questions are WHAT ARE THE RED EYES? Is it when she’s mad? Horny? Sad? Happy? I feel like the red eyes just show up whenever RS wants to draw them
Flying? I feel like Persphone has always been flying like it wasn’t a bug moment at all. She flew home when Minthe and Hades kissed. But apperently Demeter didn’t know? I guess I don’t remember her flying in the mortal realm but her flying didn’t seem like a big moment, none of the other characters seemed surprised by it.
“Answer mine first!” When i got to that line I reread some of it just to find where the question was. That line normally matters when you’ve already asked the question not if you haven’t gotten there yet. Like of course Demeter is gonna be worried and ask a million questions.
I know the pomegranate pin is gonna be important but I felt the focus on it was a little too much, like an excuse not to cover more this chapter. Because honestly it felt like 5 minutes of the plot was covered in this chapter.
10. So uh, whats up with Hades weird ass comments... Like "Persephone you look beautiful and if someone says otherwise they can go play on the highway" ???
Because Persephone looking good during a murder trial is clearly the most important thing here.
Also, Perse's response to the reporter who asked her about her friendship with Hades. I mean, on one hand Persephone is right, her "friendship" (or whatever it is they have going on) is nobodies business but her own - but at the same time, its kinda also the underworld denizens right to know in the sense that their future leadership could be affected so they might want to know whats going on if their getting a new co-ruler / Queen that they will be subjects of. They probably will want to know who Persephone is, should she and Hades get married because it's very likely that when (cause lets be real its a 'when' not 'if' they get married) they do get married that Persephone will inherit half the title.
So, eh?
