read all of tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow in under 24 hours and I have my qualms with the back half but. the way it presents loneliness and alienation as the degradation of tenderness. sam and sadie only being able to forgive each other to the extent that they were still willing to show up for each other. how the love can be there but it's not enough if you don't do your part in keeping it alive.

#'if it was gonna happen it would've by now' and the complete blindness to the fact that you have to act if you want things to happen #one thing I wonder though is like. how much of sadie being personalized more through reaction than action is part of the wider comment on #sexism and the way she had to define herself against it #vs just her being more poorly written than sam and marx #sam getting to intentionally create his self vs sadie becoming a byproduct of her environment when they move to california #was kind of a let down #just felt like she was less and less person as the book went on and more vessel for commentary whereas sam was an outstanding character #tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow #gabrielle zevin
