I find Merope Gaunt an extremely interesting character. First of all, she is one of the last living heirs of Salazar Slytherin, she lives as an abused person and in extreme poverty. She manages to understand love, but in an extremely distorted, sick and possessive form and this transforms her into an executioner. She even falls in love with a muggle and, in fact, she betrays her family and her origins, even going so far as to sell her family heirloom. She is, in my opinion, one of the most controversial characters in the entire saga and it's a real crime that they cut her out of the films. What can I say, I hope in this case too that the series can resolve it by showing her story.

I mentioned how I needed parseltongues on one of my fanfics during the Marauders Era and how I hyper fixated on creating a whole ass family tree in a weekend.

Like my first draft was confusing af

Three separate branches came from it because, YES, I am indeed using Ominis Gaunt as the link. Since my Fanfic is omegaverse, Ominis, Sebastian and MC all got together in a Poly-bond-relationship. Since Ominis didn't want to be part of his family, he took Sebastian's: Sallow. And ofc we don't know much of MC, in this fanfic au they are a female: Helen, who also took Sebastian's last name, they each had a child with each other.

MC & Sebastian had a son.

Sebastian & Ominis also had a son

Ominis and MC had a daughter.

Their family quickly got so big! So I had to move them away from each other to avoid inbreeding because it does happen! I mean LOOK AT ALL THESE SALLOWS!

Since I need my snake whisperers to attend Hogwarts, MC and Ominis's family line stayed in Scotland. His other descendants are in the USofA attending Ilvermorny so there's also parseltongues in America! [One of Ilver's founder was a Gaunt too!] The kids from this line are too young for the timeline, the oldest being 7-8 years old and the youngest not even born yet!

while MC & Sebastian's are in Spain attending Beauxbaton. Though there is a cousin a year or so younger, 14-15 yrs, but they're not parseltongues.

I think getting the years in which they were all born was the hardest imo because I needed the characters to be more or less the same age as Severus, Lily, the Marauders ect. So essentially a fifth year and I did it! with Martin Sallow who already made a brief appearance in Chapter 8: "The Truth" of To Take Your Name. Who has three younger siblings, one in 4th year, another who will start as a first year alongside some special ocs of mine, and another who is 8 years old. And if you look closely, there is a beloved oc of mine that is a member of this very special family!

The names on the other hand were so fun and a bit challenging too since I had to keep the countrieses in mind!
