I always personally thought that Sabo was a child that was actually rather academically gifted, he had a thirst for knowledge and was a genius at retaining information. The problem was he was never allowed to explore topics of his own interest, so when he ran away and started living on his own he started reading any and all books on whatever topic he could find in the Grey Terminal. And when he, Ace and Luffy teamed up they would steal from bookstores. (idk I feel like Goa wouldn't have libraries. I mean free knowledge?? in GOA??? nahh)
Of course this was a lot of books on sailing, making boats, wilderness survival in the Grandline and the sorts of things they would need to know as pirates. But he would also try snag books Ace and Luffy would love.
Getting Luffy to actually read a book willingly was impossible but Luffy being a bug boy, would point to every bug he finds and looked at Sabo like "WHATS THAT ONE!?" And Sabo having stolen a huge book of East Blue bugs will flip through and read to Luffy facts about the bug. and its the most excited they have ever seen him about a book. When Sabo got all his memories back he became a walking bug encyclopaedia. I think Ace would be against reading no matter how hard Sabo tried to pitch the stories to him. But Once Sabo was gone and there was a pile of books left in the treehouse to rot, he picked them up as a way of staying connected to his brother.
I think Ace would read a lot of fiction books but keep it rather secret, reading in the evening when Luffy already fell asleep. He wasn't at all very fast at reading at first having to sound out words like he was six, but as he finished one book, a favourite of Sabo's, he read another and another. He got better at spelling, grammar even his handwriting got a little neater. He grew out of fiction when he got older. but leaving reality for a moment to be someone else was something he really savoured when he was a teen. This also ended up saving him as a commander considering all the paperwork he would have to do and thank god his handwriting was at least legible.

Ooh what if sanji grew up with asl brothers somehow? like the orbit couldnt keep a kid around and dropped him off on goa and he ended up cooking for a bunch of feral boys who teach him that brothers dont always have to hurt
I have a lot of thoughts about ASL+Sanji. A lot. (There's so much under the cut, so much)
Sanji who's dropped off in Foosha and is just, jumpy and frightened and runs at every breath towards him. I feel like Makino would tell Luffy about him and when Luffy's first few approaches don't work he tells Ace and Sabo. Sanji who is staring at these three feral gremlins who keep showing up at his hiding spot and trying to talk to him and Luffy who keeps asking about his eyebrows and Ace and Sabo hitting Luffy making Sanji flinch and cower from them.
Sabo would probably be the first one to Sanji warms up to. Both coming from nobile families that hate them. Sabo could recognize the way Sanji holds himself from a mile away so they bond and then Luffy would be next probably. Especially if Sanji has started cooking for them.
Ace would probably be last because he has the hardest to form trust with and Sanji is still skittish and jumpy and he flinches all the time. Ace can't even raise his hand for a high five without Sanji flinching. One night when it's just them Ace asks Sanji if he's a monster and Sanji says no, he knows monsters, was almost killed by monsters and Ace is blinking at Sanji who says that all with so quietly and with so much hurt. Sanji is small and quiet and the best behaved out of the four of them but over time he becomes just as feral.
When Sabo "dies" the three of them are heartbroken and Ace and Luffy go to the extremes of over protectiveness for a while. Ace sets off on his little boat to become a pirate and Sanji is working under Makino who makes him set sail with Luffy because of his dream of the All Blue(effectively making Sanji the first crewmate which Luffy is so glad is his cook and his brother). I feel from there things progress normally, they pick Zoro and Nami, fight Buggy, pick up Usopp and destroy the Baratie.
I don't think anyone would notice that Sanji and Luffy are brothers and then in Alabasta when Ace is visiting Ace is talking with everyone Ace just drops the bomb that the three of them are brothers. Zoro is like trying to wring Luffy's neck and Nami and Usopp are yelling at the top of their lungs as Vivi, Karoo, Chopper and Ace watch. Then Luffy drops the bomb that Sanji broke his back on the last island and Ace is yelling at Sanji for not taking care of himself better and Sanji is yelling back about the avalanche and everything and Ace is just watching with such a pained expression on his face. He thanks the crew for taking care of his little brothers and apologizes for the handful that they are.
Things progress normally until Marineford where Sanji and Luffy manage to show up to save Ace. Like this is all going, they can't find their crew, their brother is going to be executed for being born. Sanji takes this way too personally because of what his birth father did and well if he couldn't give himself up at Thriller Bark for Luffy he will give himself up for Ace and Luffy fuck this admiral. Sanji throws his leg into the lava punch and it still hits Ace but it doesn't kill him.
Law suddenly has three brothers, all of which have been hit with fucking lava, the blond is losing a leg, the one that was supposed to be executed is losing his back tattoo and the one who punched a celestial dragon like a week ago has liquefied organs and the Red Force is following them after Marineford has been sunk???? Is that the fucking White Beard fleet??? Law is the theater for 56 hours before being able to hand these fucking idiots off and hopes he never sees them again.
Shanks and Marco are looking at their respective brat/brother/son/person and the third one with tilted heads and Ace and Luffy keep trying to climb into Sanji's head which makes Marco snap at them for, Luffy especially because of you know, liquefied organs. Ace and Luffy keep crying because Sanji lost a fucking leg for them and Shanks asks Marco if he knew there was another one and Marco says he thought the blond one was supposed to be dead.
Skipping to Dressrosa Ace and Luffy meet Sabo who is there to help on behalf of the revolutionary army and Sabo is pointing at both of them and they're both pointing at him. Sabo asks where Sanji is and if he's alive and Luffy is like "yeah, he just fired on Big Mom's ship, traffy sent him to Zou because Mingo hurt him but he's fine!" And Ace is like "Sanji's fine, he has a metal leg now but-" and that makes Sabo hit both of them with his pipe and yell at them for not telling him anything even though he didn't have his memories and Ace and Luffy yell back at him for being dead.
Thank you for coming to my Ted talk

I've been thinking about the screwed magnetic fields of the grand line recently, and while that train of thought didn't lead anywhere, the phrase I liked - "an invisible birdcage" - really applied to Sabo's situation nicely.
I mean, it's obvious how much influence Sabo's parents have on him, but have you ever thought that Sabo never felt freedom while he was staying in Goa kingdom? And it's even before he was brought back to his family and properly realized just how messed up nobles are!
We've seen multiple times that his parents treat him as something they own, that he unquestionably belongs to them, and even after running away to the Gray Terminal the feeling of being tied down never went away. It seems like Sabo internalised that so much, that he didn't even realise that he was free this whole time! He was free to choose his future, he was free to choose his family! The only thing holding them down was that they were unprepared to set sail, amd even then they could always leave if they wanted! As Sabo did - by stealing the boat.
And yet he still longed for freedom, to be "anywhere but here". We can see it in his design - he lives among the 'scum' of the Gray Terminal, and yet he still dressed as a noble, he wears a waistcoat and a top hat which reminds us of the fashion of the high town and especially his father, and his cravat is tied tightly around his neck. His life really was suffocating for him. Even if he was physically away from his family he still could feel their influence, though he was outside the city wall, outside of their reach! And he ran away 5 years ago! He's spent so much time living there, that his noble upbringing has faded - he felt compassion towards the people of the gray terminal, which nobles don't even consider human; he even put someone else's happiness before his own - which is unheard of in the noble circles; he has defeated men twice his size, fearlessly charged into battle while nobles don't want to get their hands dirty. And yet he was powerless when met with violence from his father, showing that despite all this time, despite how much he's changed he still was in that invisible birdcage, unable to act under the influence of his father. (which is why he leaves again)
Even Ace and Luffy feel that:
And it's really sad that Ace says that Sabo was never able to grasp freedom, because even if briefly, he did. With you two :") But he could never feel freedom as long as he stayed in the country where people are treated no better than trash, and the shadow of his family and Goa's walls lingered above him.
And a couple of hundred chapters later we see the extent of his parents' grasp! Even with amnesia this deep-seated feeling of confinement never left him. (Though I do think that it's not just the abuse from his parents but also his disgust with nobles as a whole: the burning of the Gray Terminal and nobles' indifference to it clearly affected him a lot)
And what's worse, now he can't even identify what's wrong! I mean, it's clear that his parents were abusive, you don't need to be a Sherlock to figure that out, but the specific details are lost. Think about it! He ended up on a ship with people who at first didn't really want anything to do with him - not out of malice, they just have more important things at the moment; and then in an organisation(an army) where your value as a soldier is based on your performance(like rising through ranks and such). He doesn't know that his parents equated his worth with his usefulness, and the revs don't know that the boy being so eager to help isn't just a rightheous motivation. He needed to be sure that their efforts on getting him to health weren't in waste, to be useful, so that the only people he knows won't just leave him, plus pair it with his moral values, distaste of nobles, longing for freedom... – no wonder he is the second-in-command of the entire army by the age 22!
This guy's love language is acts of service, but no one (not even Sabo himself) realises that it stems from his screwed upbringing and fear of being cast away if he's not of use.
Ok, to be fair, it's mostly based on the flashbacks - I haven't finished my reread to look in depth at him as an adult yet! After all we've only seen point A(his childhood) and point B(adulthood) with the journey between them obscured. He does seem to be faring well tho! He takes his job seriously when needed, but also fucks around when he wants to - even if ppl around him show displeasure with that! Good for him.
Same with Koala actually! It's so nice to see her being able to express her feelings so visibly! Be it positive or negative. And I think it's cute, that while Sabo is both the common reason and victim of her outbursts of emotion, he never berates her for it! He's not thrilled, but he's not complaining either!
#all roads lead to Rome and all thoughts lead to Sabo so to speak#sabo#revolutionary sabo#one piece#karyss' rambling#oh now that I think Sabo and Koala share some parallels in their character development#the main one - they were forced to conform to extreme extent of societal norms: reserved emotions. tidiness#obedience. studies for future. living up to parents' expectations etc...#and by healing from that they both grew up insufferable to be around🫡

Since some people really want to know more about Xebec, Garp and Roger, I'll give you the first of the five important aspects of their brotherhood.
Part 1. Childhood
Xebec grew up in Dawn island, specificaly in Gray Terminal. This is where he meets his loyal and closest friend, later his brother, Garp.
Their relationship starts a bit of rocky, ( no pun intendet ) as Xebec doesn't want to have anything to do with Garp, even tho Garp really wants to be his friend.
After months of fighting eachother and hunting animals together two form some sort of bond. It isn't friendship from Xebec's point of view. He would never admit he started liking that annoying and loud brat.
They both shared a dream to go out on the sea, wanting to find treasures and have so many adventures. They decided they will be pirates together. Yes, Monkey D. Garp, the Hero of the Marines, aka Garp the Fist wanted to be a pirate. Shocking isn't it?
Their relationship changed one day. Xebec was out training while Garp wanted to protect their small ship. They wanted to sail tomorrow, they were ready. They knew what others would say. „Two ten year old kids on the sea? Pah! You won't survive a day!“ But they trained hard every single day, preparing for leaving the Dawn island and Gray Terminal for good.
When Xebec returned, he found the ship destroyed, piles of wood floating on the sea. He noticed Garp laying in sand, he was all bloody with so many cuts and bruises. Xebec just stared in horror. Without hesitation, he took Garp into his hands and ran to the Foosha village.
Xebec took him to the doctor, but he couldn't do anything. Xebec was so pissed off he beat the crap out of that old man. He then ran to the Gray Terminal, but they just yelled ,fuck off!' Xebec had no other choice. He had to go to the Goa Kingdom. After hours of searching he found a good doctor in a big hospital. He promised Garp would live. He had to. Xebec didn't like to admit it, but he hated being alone. And he wanted him to live.
After Garp woke up, two of them got into fight, Xebec yelling at him that he is a fucking moron and idiot and Garp yelling back that he had to protect the ship.
„Why? Why did you stay? Why didn't you run away? They could have and would have killed you! WHY?!“
„BECUASE I WANTED TO BE YOUR FRIEND!!“
Xebec's eyes widden. No one ever wanted to be his friend. Not a single person ever he met. Not until him.
'Monster. Devil's child! Stay away!' All those years he thought he would end up alone. But now he had that stupid brat. That stupid brat that won't go away, that stupid brat that helped him with hunting and stealing the boat. That stupid brat who cares about him.
„Why?“
He asked in shaky voice. Xebec was on the verge of crying and so was Garp.
„BECAUSE BEING ALONE IS WORSE THEN BEING HURT!!“
Right. Being alone is worse then any pain in the world. But now he had the br-...no. Now he had Garp. His friend. His only friend. His dearest Treasure.
And nothing could separate them.

Sabo and Jellal Childhood friends. Pt. 3
After waking up and realizing that had been knocked for a few days, Sabo realized Jellal wasn’t with him. Sabo finds a note saying that Jellal had surrendered himself to the Goa Kingdom and had to accept his punishment for abducting Sabo and escaping from the kingdom of Goa. To his horror Sabo believed Jellal would be executed by the Goa Government for his actions in kidnapping Sabo and being the illegitimate son of a pirate. Believing he was a alone, Sabo burst into tears knowing he would not be able to see his best friend again but Jellal was sent to the tower of heaven by a cult under the world government in an attempt to put Fiore under its oppressive regime. After wandering through the wilderness alone, Sabo would meet a black haired kid with freckles who offered to help him and be his friend. Before he went to Dressrosa, Jellal went to check on Erza and Ace, he saw them with Carla, Gray, Happy, Lucy, Natsu and Wendy. Erza asked Ace about the x crossed s on his left shoulder wondered if the tattoo was to spell his name Ase wrong and why it was ASCE. Ace explains that "A" stands for Ace his, "S" stands for Sabo his best friend and brother, and "C" stands for "crybaby" (meaning Luffy his little brother). Finally, "E" stands for Edward Newgate for the true father in his life. They asked who Sabo was because he didn’t talk about him much. Ace remained silent, Carla, Erza, Gray, Happy, Lucy, Natsu, and Wendy told it’s okay they can tell anything. Ace took a deep breath and tears streamed down his face. When Ace and Luffy were kids Sabo left Dawn island on a stolen ship to begin his journey as a pirate. While they learned Sabo had boarded on a boat, the stolen ship crosses paths with a ship of a Celestial Dragon. Rattled by Sabo’s audacity to sail alongside a vessel of a Celestial, he shoots down the boat Sabo was sailing in, making everyone think that Sabo drowned. As a tribute to Sabo and his Jolly Roger. Carla, Erza, Gray, Happy, Lucy, Natsu, and Wendy were horrified and saddened by the fact that Sabo was actually a child only ten years old, Erza moved over to her half brother and hugged him for comfort and tells him “Sabo was just a child I’m sorry to hear that Ace” with tears flowing down her eyes. Upon ease dropping on the conversation, Jellal was rattled with horror, sadness and guilt as he remembered his first friend and childhood friend Sabo. Melody asked Jellal what’s wrong with him, Jellal breathes heavily and breaks down. Meledy helps Jellal flee before they are spotted. Jellal cries hysterically and mutters “What have I done?! What the hell have I done?! I betrayed him, I left alone and I left him to drown…”. Unable to hold back tears, Jellal’s sadness and guilt caused him to have a panic attack and realizing that he remembered promising Sabo that he would protect him from danger and that he would never die on him. Jellal screams in horror and faints as thought to himself “Why, he wasn’t a threat to anyone, he wasn’t a danger to the world government, nor Goa, nor the navy, nor the celestial dragons. He was an innocent child and Sabo is my friend.”. As Jellal remained unconscious, Sabo returns to his home in the Revolutionary Army but as he enters Sabo remembers a childhood friend and a mark on his right eye. Sabo goes to his quarters in sadness and tears stream down his face as he remembers his apparent dead friend Jellal and utter in a whisper “I miss you.…Jellal.” Sabo recalls the name Jellal called him and the words spoken to him “AolSabo” “Hey AolSabo”.

With the Combo Package, the main course we pride ourselves with is Scuba Diving. The certified instructors would take you through every single step - whether you are a beginner or an advanced diver. There would be an orientation session if you are a beginner to introduce you to the equipment and how the safety procedures should be done at the dive site. And then you will leave the surface and plunge into the blue waters to explore this world of bright colours alive beneath the waves. A coral reef with all its colors, schools of exotic fish swimming about, and if you're particularly lucky, you might catch sight of a sea turtle or two.
Snorkeling: Snorkeling is an alternative that lets you see the underwater beauty without being compulsive about going down in the water. Using snorkel, mask, and fins, float at the water surface, enjoying the marine beauty right before your eyes. Ideal snorkeling spot: Shallow coral reefs around Grand Island.
In most packages, there are also interesting water sport activities, such as jet-skiing, parasailing, or banana boat rides. Such exciting activities have made this day-on packet be a complete adventure experience.
This is a barbecue lunch on the beach of the island after a fun session of diving; it is normally treated following a nice session of diving into your pleasing tours. In the course of relaxing, some beautiful views can be seen while the fresh grill seafood and vegetarian delicacies are served.
Relaxation and beach time are in plenty on the tour with the scenic beauties of Grand Island. From mere sunbathing on the beach to swimming in crystal water or standing at just one spot to absorb the view, the island offers an ideal landscape for relaxation.
