Back at it with my early morning wake ups. I've been up since 3am, my mind is wild, my nose is plugged. I am nervous and excited for my MRIs tomorrow, I was excited to have the rest of the day for myself but I've filled my free time with a dental appointment which is fine. I need to stop worrying about it since at the end of the day, whatever damage they find has already been done and at least I'll have it documented. I like that I'm able to review my results online for the MRI. I have one for my brain and one for my spine and I only get nervous with the little head cage and I hope they give me the headphones again so I can just vibe in there while the machine does its clanking lol

Hey! I was wondering, if you don't mind talking a bit more about it, if you could expand a little on Lilith being aroace in canon? I'm not challenging you on the claim, by the way, I totally agree, but it's been a while since I last watched the show and while I do have that hc too, I might've missed hints at this in the story 👀 I'm ace myself and I rarely see rep in media so seeing your response got me really curious. I love when you share your thoughts on the series because you argue things with a lot of nuance and attention to details so I figured I'd try asking. Feel free to ignore this! I hope it didn't come across as demanding or belligerent.

Oh, since I'm here, I also wanted to mention that I love your art! Your Hunter stuff makes my day and your colors are always so pretty

it was actually shown in lilith's letter (a repost can be found on youtube for example), in which she talks abt turning down suitors and says that she doesn't think she's ever been interested [in romance] and that she has much to think about. it's a bonus audio, canon to the show (chronologically happening inbetween s2a and s2b), and it was shown during dana's pre-s2b-premiere charity twitch stream, along with hunter's palisman observations and luz's diary entry audios!

cissy jones (lilith's va) also confirmed it on twitter and lilith was referred to as aroace in some post-hoot episodes (post-hoot is like a post-show talkshow/stream with various voice actors/crew members that usually happens each week on ig), and in one of the "official" (commissioned by cissy iirc) posters for voice actors' autograph signings, lilith's also holding a stack of books that's colored like an ace flag.

Some more TOH thoughts

Now that I've had a chance to watch the s2b promo and the new episode, I've got a few more thoughts on how things could go. Here they are, in no particular order:

1. Luz will almost certainly have allies among the coven leaders.

It's safe to say that Kikimora now realizes she's been played and is no longer anything but a pawn. She will probably assist Luz if for no other reason than revenge on Terra Snapdragon. Her motives maybe petty, but I believe she will help.

And then, there's Darius and Eberwolf. When they fought Raine in S2E7, I got the impression that they weren't particularly enthusiastic about what they were doing, just doing what they felt was their duty and dealing with a traitor. If you look at the new end credits, while Terra is clearly smirking, Darius' and Eber's expressions are more inscrutable:

And in the promo, Darius is shown fighting off vines. Those could be Willow's, or they could be Terra's; it's difficult to tell from the background. However, it seems to me like they're not completely on board with what is being done to Raine. My gut feeling is that they will switch sides, although not until near the end. Terra, however, feels like pure villain material and seems to have more knowledge of Belos' plans than even the other coven leaders.

2. Amity is definitely pulling a "Blind Bandit" in this scene:

I know some people have interpreted this as a date (and maybe it is one, of sorts), but if you look at Amity's ears you can see what appears to be the outline of a mask. The monster hunter has a microphone and appears to be an MC for the event, while Wrath is clearly offering a challenge. I'm willing to bet that Amity's dress is more than just a stylish outfit. That screams "stealth abomination armor" to me. Also, shame on Wrath for taking part in an underground fighting ring as a government official. Naughty Snotty...

3. Luz is going to learn to make the same alt-abominations as Belos from Philip's diary:

She's practicing glyphs, she has the echo mouse with her, and that hand looks just like the ones that Belos summoned during their fight. It's not hard to put 2 and 2 together. Maybe this is where she makes a connection between Philip and Belos?

And now, one final thought.

Whoever animated the change of Willow's expression when Amity said "I'm glad we can be like this again" is a genius. There are so many unsaid words captured here:

That's the expression of someone who has a mountain of things they want to say, but has decided not to in order to allow a fractured relationship to keep slowly healing. For both Amity's and Willow's sake, I hope those words get said eventually. Something tells me we'll hear them before the show ends. This show is absolutely magical when it comes to showing relationships, both healthy and unhealthy.

i’ve been doing some thinking about how the pacing of the owl house might have gone if the crew found out they got a full season 3 in between s2A and s2B instead of “here’s 3 episodes y’all be thankful you got scraps”.

and i’ve seen some people saying that would mean a full season of human realm antics. my storytelling instincts say “no”. for one, amphibia, which is structured similar to how things might have gone if after “king’s tide” we got a whole season, still only has about 3/4 set on earth. they have to have some time in amphibia to settle the plots before returning home.

in the owl house, i think that they would have taken some of that time to spread out the story in the boiling isles.

so s2B was divided into two parts, storytelling speaking, the first half where things are heating up and establishing the collapse of the status quo, but we haven’t really GOTTEN there yet, and then hollow mind and afterwards where we’ve taken a sledgehammer to the conventions of the show. 

i think that s2B might look more like the first half where things are heating up and establishing the collapse of the status quo. there probably would have been episodes with focus on steve and mattholomule (something that dana has stated she’s disappointed they didn’t get to do), some more stuff with the blights and especially showing a bit more clearly in the relationship between odalia and alador, some additional focus on vee and camila in the human realm, some more focus on phillip’s diary before we get into “phillip was a jackass, actually”, and a beach episode. 

the beach episode, of course, is just luz and the gang hanging out at the beach and hunter gets A MISSION that attempts to disrupt their hangout time. but they draw him in with the power of Having Fun With Friends TM. but then at the end there is Much Angst about him going back. “you don’t HAVE to stay there. you can leave with us.” “and live where... exactly?” “the owl house” “yeah. the owl house takes in eeevvvveerrryyybbooodddyyyy. that’s why blight still lives with her parents“. it’s a painful choice, but hunter does go back, and he goes back empty-handed at the end. it goes... poorly. but Friendship Level Up Activated TM

hollow mind becomes the S2 season finale instead halfway point. it blows the fandom wide open, and with the season break hitting with the information that belos IS phillip, that the day of unity is a genocide, and that hunter is a grimwalker of phillip’s brother the fandom goes feral. of course 

the episodes that come afterwards form s3A. king’s tide becomes the midseason finale. then, you get about 5 episodes of human realm antics as the kids worry about the demon realm. it cuts to the demon realm for an episode where we see what’s going down. the series comes to a comfortable conclusion :)

au where disney gave the owl house more what it deserved :(
