been thinking a lot about russian dally lately

i still have a lot of research i gotta do but i think i wanna make him russian-maybe his parents immigrated, maybe he was born there and then moved, but regardless i wanna say dally knows quite a bit of russian and does have a very prominent accent at some points

btw i just learned cirillic in two days (it's so much simpler than i always assumed) just to be able to read random russian shit online lol, even tho i don't understand most of what it says xD soome things are basically exactly like in polish, but bro it's a weird language. i'm just writing polish in it to train myself to read it more fluently now wowee

#if cursive were actually illegible people wouldn't use it... you guys just never learned cursive lmao #tho if you *want* to make cursive look illegible it's quite easy #<- which is how i fucked w my high school english teacher who forced me to write in cursive #but most people are not like me and generally try to write in a way that is legible #also 'doctor's handwriting' is often shorthand which is literally another alphabet #that is legible if you know said alphabet and not legible if you don't #learning to read cursive (inc russian cursive) is imminently feasible. do not let the tumblr posts convince you otherwise

@spookyaveragecatdoodlesenjoyer The beginning of your tags yelled "тобі пізда" so much at me, that I love it.

I want to say that don't worry because I'm extremely serious when it comes to Ukrainian and my general love for Ukraine. (I love every Slavic country but Ukraine is closer to me since I had Ukrainian friends.) I basically can start any time I want because I can read the alphabet, so this is not a problem for me at all. The only thing that stays between me and my book for Ukrainian is the lack of CD to learn the pronunciation (but I'll find a way) and a spider that decided to live on this book. (I'm scared, send help pls.)

I also really love "Щедрик" and at some point of my life I had the lyrics memorised. Of course my pronunciation probably sucked a lot, but this is still one of my favourite Ukrainian songs.

There is this one Polish-Lemkos-Ukrainian band that also made their version of Щедрик, so I'll just put it here for anyone who wants to check it out.

But nothing will beat Ukrainian choirs. There's no words that will describe my love for this song.

I used to attend extramural school with two Ukrainian ladies and one of them said зупинка once. ONCE. And every time I go to the bus stop, I keep saying this in my head because I remembered it. 😭 Not mentioning the fact that one time, when I visited Slovakia, I accidentally told the cashier дякую instead of ďakujem.

So yeah. I know no one asked, but I still had to make this post because I'm so in love with Ukrainian. This language sounds really beautiful and it wouldn't be a problem for me to come back and learn it for a while.

For the last tag: I was able to translate by myself "Kanna Kizuchi will ××× the world in three seconds", and trying to look at the context, then does it mean "Kanna Kizuchi will rule the world in three seconds "? 👀

For anyone who speaks Russian, has learned to speak Russian, or has learned another language in general:

I’m talking to a guy right now who comes from Russia, and he’s mentioned that his parents might be moving to the US, as well, who only know how to speak Russian. So I would like to learn how to speak Russian so that communication is a little bit easier. Does anybody know how to start learning and everything?

I’ve looked up the alphabet already because an irl friend mentioned to start there, but I tend to overcomplicate things and I know that some languages aren’t that easy (like Japanese) but I’m not entirely sure. I’ve also tried Duolingo but it doesn’t help me with symbols or anything, it just expects me to learn by the words and that’s not helping me at all, either.

does anyone have any good tips on how to start learning Russian?
