Hi! Thanks so much for this question. Admittedly, I only use my Spotify for OCs or editing as I like my music library on my phone more and this year I've been editing a lot of opening credits, which is why my Spotify playlist is mostly Christian-ish rock bands, lol. That being said, I can always try to see if the number one matches anyone.

My number one song is Gone Too Soon by Daughtry. I strongly assume since I don't use Spotify on the daily, it scrambled a bunch of stuff together that I preview listened to for my openings to see what would it be. Anyway, I think this song would fit both Joy Hargreeves and Aiden Calloway. The lyrics are very sad and I believe they are talking about a couple losing their child, which would fit Joy and Aiden to a tee.

you perch yourself onto a pastel yellow beach towel, not quite sure if it was yours or Yachi’s since the both of you brought identical towels today.

it was high noon, and the sun beat down on you with intense ferocity that caused sweat to trickle down your neck and back as a few strands of baby hair clung to your forehead. you felt like you were showering in your own sweat.

you were not vibing at all.

even the big old palm tree hovering above you didn’t do much to shelter you from the heat of the sun. the cold drink stowed in your left hand wasn’t enough for the heat to be bearable either.

the sidewalk was hot enough to fry an egg for crying out loud. exactly who’s idea was it to come here?

“who’s idea was it to come here? its so fucking hot!” Rintarou whined the words you thought of, as if reading your mind.

your blonde best friend clicks her tongue from where she stood, turning herself around to face the man with an irritated expression, adjusting the Calloway cream hat that sat on top her head to block the stunning rays of the sun from her eyes.

“well i didn’t think it was gonna be this hot today.. but who cares right? i mean, we haven’t hung out in sooo long! so let’s just deal with it!!”

“whatever dumbass”

“you know what Rin, you’re massive dick”

“huh?”

“you’ve done nothing but complain this entire time we’ve been out and I’m—“

“yeah, I don't care— how is your pool malfunctioning itself when we need it the most? explain yourself woman”

“will you two please stop bickering for a second? i’m trying to send this text to my dad but i can’t do that with you two acting like children” Aran bellowed in annoyance, his fingers hovering just above the screen of his new Iphone.

the two immediately shut their traps but not long after did they start bickering again. a tad quieter this time.

You chuckled lightly at the three in front of you, bringing up the cold water bottle to your lips for the hundredth time this hour. “i think it was a great idea to come here Toka” you say, smiling up at the girl sweetly.

“you don’t have to lie to the witch, y/n”

“atleast y/n loves me—“

“no one loves your spoiled ass—“

“Shall we leave and go back to my place?” Aran interrupts. you nod enthusiastically at the idea.

the heat was getting worse by the minute and you were sure that you would pass out at any moment. you wonder how Tetsurou is doing right now as you know he’s currently working on planting Mr Ito’s red roses in the grumpy old man’s front yard.

you hope he’s staying hydrated and frequently applying on sunscreen. Kuroo always forgets to take care of himself sometimes but that’s why he has you right? even though you aren’t his girlfriend, you surely act like one.

he doesn’t seem to mind.

Suna waves a hand in the air, not having a single care about the conversation and where the group ends up at, he just wants to get out of here and go to a place somewhere cooler.

Yachi's shoulders deflate a little, seemingly bothered at her friends for wanting to leave so suddenly but an idea crosses her mind.

“hey i have an idea! why don’t we head to the Kuu Cafe first? i heard that place sells the best ice cream on the island and it’s not even that far from here!”

ice cream sounds pretty good right now, you thought and agreed to her idea as well. Aran was the first to stand, telling the three of you to pack up your stuff so you can head to the Cafe. he says the place gets a bit packed on hot days like this so it would be best to head off as soon as possible.

“y/n can you pay for me?” Suna faces you, a very uncharacteristic expression on his face. jutting out his bottom lip as if acting cute would get you to succumb to shouting him food today. “you’re literally rich enough to buy the whole company Rin”

“yeah, but i can’t be bothered paying”

“i hate you sometimes”

when you reached the destination of the small cafe, a pretty hostess around her mid-forties welcomed the four of you at your arrival and as you drink in the aroma of the place you couldn’t help but think that it looked way fancier than it did on the website made it out to be.

the place was very well decorated with it’s interior warm and cheery, with bright lights and colourful walls and it’s ridiculous amount of flower pots.

taking your seats, you were about to scold the two boys for ogling at the hostess but before you could do so, a familiar tall figure at the counter caught your eye.

he had wavy black hair; broad shoulders and a tight white shirt covering his frame. even when his back faced you, it was in the way he stood that appeared familiar to you but obviously you couldn’t tell if you knew the guy or not but even so..

you tilt your head, now in deep thought.

he looks… oddly familiar?

not at all realizing how you look to the others who stared at you with curious eyes, they followed your gaze and wondered who had suddenly caught your attention and just as they did so, the man you had your eyes on turned around and you audibly gasped. a hand flying to your mouth.

Okay, so! This was the first book I was able to finish in 2021. I've kinda been in a reading slump, and struggling to get past the 30-50% of books. I think its because I took essentially 3 months off my normal (daily) reading schedule and have been prioritising other things (health, fitness, job applications etc) - I think it's a testament to how addicted I was to this that I finished and consumed this at the rate I did! I recently went back and added some things to my ACOWAR review. To briefly summarise, I feel that, at the time I read it, it kind of gave me what I needed, but it definitely isn't getting a re read - my love for feysand has definitely lessened over time, but honestly i'm not that mad at sarah for this, as I find that whenever I've passed the sexual tension part of relationships in books, I tend to get bored of the domestic bliss. Like, leave that shit for an epilogue and keep it at that? As someone generally averse to relationships, but there is definitely a grace period for how long I can actively be smitten with a couple... before it becomes sickly. Taking all this into account, I honestly was nervous for this book, its release date totally took me by surprise, and I read it on a whim. As a Nessian shipper (I mean we didn't really have a choice after acomaf but to delve into the world of fanfic to keep us going) - this book gave me most of what I wanted and needed from them! I think,(some) kudos to SJM, for not disappointing in their relationship. This was definitely a character > plot driven story. In terms of the plot, I wasn't really invested until around the 38% mark? I'm not sure if I was adjusting to the writing style (lots of dramatic. sentences. that. are. so. abrupt. Nesta Archeron. Death etc) - or if it was bc I hadn't read an SJM book since the novella, which I basically skimmed. I was obviously reading for Nessian, but I didn't really feel intrigued by the wider plot (death gods, the human queens? Given I had lost my previous obsession with the world/ have outgrown 'fandom' culture, that made me actively update my knowledge, I couldn't remember a lot!) I think its clear that SJM excels character driven stories, but I think her worldbuilding and execution is significantly better in the throne of glass franchise. Now, I did say this was a character driven story. This is mostly regarding Nesta, Cassian and Azriel. I loved pretty much any interaction they had! I love a good training montage. Ngl though, I think, unless you possess an ardent love for Nessian, you're not going to be particularly wowed by this, if you've read heir of fire, or even acomaf. I obviously am never going to be able to be objective, because I've loved nessian so much from 2017-now, but I loved the dynamic those two (and three - friendship wise between nes/cass/az). One of the highlights of ACOWAR for me was the snippets of Az, showing tenderness, and opening up to the newer members of the inner circle (and i'm excluding any hint of an Elriel ship because FUCK THAT LOL) For me, the tip with SJM books is: once you outgrow them/the particular mode of narrative style, is to not anticipate anything other than a character driven story, albeit one riddled with smut. I personally am a romance heavy reader, so I'm honestly deconditioned to it at this point, (like, when I see reviewers scandalised I'm like... wow, the amount of trash I have consumed in the last five years loool.) While I disagree with the fact SJM marketed this series as y/a (or maybe it wasn't her per se, but the key booksellers definitely did this for her) - I think its clear enough now she's descended into the adult/borderline erotica genre.(very mild imo). I personally like to adopt a policy of skimming sex scenes when I find the dialogue cringy (most the time it is lets be honest any talking is v second hand embarrassment). Cassian and Nesta were definitely better than Rhys and Feyre post chapter 55 though! I was so glad there weren't a million moments of Cass/Nesta betraying their arousal with their scents, in front of everyone (like feysand, the voyeuristic pda pricks they are). I found the slowburn ish nature of their relationship great, and I actually think if you're a virgo/emotionally stunted reader, you will be happy with their relationship dynamic. It contrasts with the daemati sexual snark of acomaf, but it felt right, and authentic. This book was a journey of personal growth, for Nesta. It is clear SJM loves books about strong women, and maybe thats what makes me love this book so much. I think, out of all the archeron sisters, I love Nesta the most. This is for my Rose Calloway fans, my misunderstood, somewhat cold/left out girls, who are less receptive to being vulnerable. If you're a slowburn fan, it's not Mariana Zapata levels of slowburn, imo it's the perfect combo. Addictive enough that I don't want to put it down, but not so fast moving that I couldn't believe it. I loved the sex without emotion relationship they had!! This is honestly never done in mainstream n/a fantasy, unless its a caricature of a 'slut' that normally rivals the main character, lmao. Even if their inner conflict was p transparent, this gave me everything I needed! I know this is vapid lol but I also love the physical dynamic between the two, they just look so good together, the amount of fanart I'm going to reacquaint myself with after this review!! I adored seeing Nesta grow, (even if towards the end I kind of resented her sudden acceptance into the inner circle, i get SJM loves her and just wanted a fluffy ending, but, as a Nesta like character, it's awkward and stilted on her end to adjust to the inner circle like this - i mean, hugging rhys, really??)

I think, if I had to compare this to any other SJM book, I would say Chaols book (though I obviously preferred this). That being said, I felt less attached to new characters in this book than I was in even Chaols book (and even then ngl I remember nothing?) Obviously I loved what it represented, as a trio of traumatised women. I just, didn't love this the way I loved other inner circle members! I get that they gave Nesta exactly what they needed, a family that doesn't hold the history of her sisters, who she doesn't have to worry about holding preconceived notions of disappointment. I loved this for her! Even then.. I just wasn't attached to either of them. I found their interactions cute - but boring. Towards the end, when their stories/pasts are revealed, I couldn't help but cringe slightly, I can't put my finger on why, but I just didn't buy it. Maybe it's the brit in me but I couldn't be moved by this slightly forced bonding moment.. which was so anticlimactic. My 'aww how cute' tolerance is defo deserved for characters whose tropes I love. Maybe they just didn't fit into this list. Maybe I'm just being a cow here?

Now, let's speak about the real star of the show.... A FUCKING MAGICAL HOUSE FRIEND??? YESSSSSSS. IF YOU ARE AN ILONA ANDREWS INNKEEPERS CHRONICLES FAN, U WILL LOVE! How was the animation of this somehow more touching than all of nesta's other friendships combined? Exactly what I ordered, thank you. This trope somehow touches more than any material bonding!! The cute witch x house dynamic (also maybe howls moving castle vibes?) I loved the trying to reach the target of 10,000 steps (a little Celaena HOF). I think this, heir of fire and acomaf are my favourite SJM books for this reason. Gripes: I definitely had some personal gripes with how other members of the inner circle treated Nesta (rhys i'm looking at you. Disappointed doesn't even cover it.) I inherently take offence to any elain scene, as i'm so over bland characters whose existence is reduced to wanting to fucking plant flowers?? like?? really? To go from moriel to that is such a downgrade, even if I fell out of love with Mor due to the way she snubbed Nesta (you're a 500 year old being and you can't see someone is clearly traumatised?). I adore Az so much, but if it aint polyamorous, I cannot see any pairing with Elain making me happy. (wouldn’t mind gwyn though) I think the whole mating bond that I do not want is a good dynamic, but I really hate that everyone has to be mates in this world. I don't think we were that surprised, but it would've been nice if the somehow, idk, developed a strong bond over time, without it being preordained? Like, even if they do not all actively stay with their mate, given how disproportionate mates are among the general population, what's the likelihood 6 members of the inner circle (including lucien) have mates?

My advice? Read this book if you love nessian and the acotar world in general, but don't expect the world building to be consistent with greater fantasy series'. This style of story is obviously what to expect. She writes what she likes, and if her fantasy is this - then who are we, as readers, to expect otherwise?

Final rating: 4.5 (no, i'm not objective, but objectivity does not exist if you are a real, human being, lol)

Original Characters: 5/5 (nessian/az/house wise) 1/5 (feysand - really over how they essentially take over the very end of the book - ugh, I wanted nesta's arc to be wholly separate from them) Writing style: 3.5 Cringe Scale: Low, with the exception of some dialogue. New Characters: 2 Plot: I went into it with a 2 and came out with a 4. Not in terms of complexity, but in terms of how addictive and enjoyable this reading experience was! (less)

Hmm spongebob consumes my thoughts a lot of the time but I do like anime. My favorite genre is the magical girl genre which I can't explain why but it's a lot of fun. My favorite magical girl anime was/is cardcaptor Sakura. I adored it as a kid. It got on Netflix during the summer and uhh it changed my opinion. Watching the original dub was shit, it cut out all sorts of details and stuff of the show but watching the true og show. Its messed up. It's weird because I'm between both liking it and hating it. There are still things I like about it but also left a sour taste in my mouth. If there could be a redub where they take out the weird shit would be nice. So anyways futari wa pretty cure is now my new absolutely favorite😔

Other anime I watched was soul eater, I recently finished it. I've been wanting to see it since I missed out seeing it back in middle school and well I adoooore lord death. Also I'm currently watching the 3rd season of Osomatsu-san. The show has been my favorite for years now. It's so rewatchable. My favorite trio of the matsuno boys is Karamatsu, Ichimatsu, and Choromatsu.

I also really like Jojo's bizzare adventure. I remember in high school finishing up rose of versailles. The ending was so sad and I wasn't over it yet. I was still attached to all the characters and my friend was like "you know what you should watch? Jojo" she now admits that was terrible advice and that she doesn't know what she was thinking but I think it was a good idea. Rose of versailles takes place in 18th century France I think? And Jojo begins in late 19th century England. The themes kinda felt close so it was easy to transition into except Jojo was really comedic and enjoyable. Speedwagon is best waifu.

I do recommend Rose of Versailles. It's so dramatic and extra. The sheer drama of avoiding talking to someone for weeks but then being forced to wish someone a happy new year and then having a mental breakdown?? Good shit.

I enjoyed cartoons a lot for a time. Like Steven Universe, Gravity Falls, Adventure Time and Infinity Train, over the garden wall. I've sort of fell out of love with cartoons? The fandoms are so toxic that it makes it hard to enjoy. I know that fandoms don't ruin the show itself but definitely takes away from the experience. I enjoy discussions of shows and the vibe gets killed by the sheer bitterness and fake woke hot takes of people. I can talk a lot about this but I don't really want to.

I still kinda want to watch owl house. Maybe when it gets added to Disney+.

Some cartoons I liked a lot is Ruby Gloom and the 90s spiderman cartoon.

The 90s spiderman cartoon is crazy. I recommend watching. It has better continuity than most anime with the most craziest plot lines?? I can't believe it. The 90s marvel cartoons was the original MCU. The 90s spiderman finale episode is the original Into the spiderverse. I looove this show. It was my first favorite show before Spongebob.

I enjoy music, I've mentioned before my favorite genre is horror rock. I like the ghastly ones but I really adore creature feature. They're my favorite band of all time. I can go on talking about them or their side project Rufus rex. I also like oingo boingo. I like to draw Danny elfman in his oingo boingo days or his cool demon costumes. I also like Alesana? Each album is like a story that goes together so its fun to put them together and figure out the whole overarching story though I think they already published a book about it but I never came around to reading it yet. I also like Siouxie and the banshees, Leslie Gore, lemon demon, Cab Calloway, dead or alive. There are some bands I do like that are a bit problematic that I wouldn't recommend. I've mentioned before I liked a lot of Tim Burton movies which is true. I don't like him though as an individual. It kinda hurts how he said people like me don't fit the aesthetic of his movies and I grew up adoring his movies and aesthetic and everything. I think it's crazy. Anyways if you want to watch some for free just type "x movie name google drive" now you can enjoy all his movies without paying for it.

My favorite movie from him was the live action Alice in Wonderland movie which I know isn't the best quality but nostalgia?? This movie hits different and I can't explain why. I also liked batman returns.

I like other movies like Coraline, and other movies.

Persepolis is one of my most favorite movie of all time. I also enjoy the persepolis comics. Idk it just hits so hard, its a biography of the author in comic form but her experiences was so relatable. I very much recommend.

I like studio ghibli movies, and anything under the genre of horror comedy. I'm a huge softie who likes soft cute things like I watched beetlejuice movie and I latched onto Adam and Barbara hard. Partially because I crushed on both but also because they were too cute. A couple that doesn't follow usual marriage stereotypes and genuinely loved each other? And how much they love their daughter Lydia?? How much they protect her like she was their own? My heaaart. I don't like the musical specifically because of how hard they nerfed them. I also watched the fly because Geena Davis was in it and she's just super pretty.

I like watching the Lupin the third movies.

I like vintage movies like Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton. My friend joked about how your parents introduce these movies to you because vintage movies were things they watched in their home country. Yeah that's pretty much it.

Also vintage horror movies. Have you ever seen the 1930s Dracula with Bela Lagosi? Its more funny than scary. Renfield got yeeted down the stairs.

I also like fashion. Some styles I like are from the early 90s, the 80s and 40s. I like the big shoulder look. I actually got my mom's leather trenchcoat from the early 90s with shoulderpads and I really love it. It's so extra but fun.

I also love cats, rats and corvids. Cats are free serotonin. Rats are super cute. Crows, ravens and magpies are all cuties. Its hard to pick a favorite from them. If you're friends with me then expect to be spammed with videos of crows, cats, and rats.

addicted series by krista & becca ritchie. it follows an sex addict & alcohol addict who are childhood bestfriends & pretends to be in a relationship to hide their addiction from their families. it’s one of my all time faves tbh (mostly because of the characters) there are like 10 books but i promise it’s worth it in the end!

calloway sisters series by krista & becca ritchie. ok so this one belongs to addicted series too, (in addicted they r book 2.1, 2.2 & 3.1, 3.2) these focus on lilys sisters (rose & daisy) so if you don’t like addicted but i liked one or both of them, then i think you should check out this!

to all the boys i’ve loved before by jenny han. ok so this book is incredibly cheesy but it’s also really cute. & it got one of the best tropes in the world; fake relationship. so long story short it’s about a girl who, after having a crush, she would write love letters (more like goodbyes) to them but without sending them & then one day her letters gets send and the boys gets them. & it’s also gonna become a movie so yay!!

paper princess (the royals series) by erin watt. ok now, this book is problematic, cliche & can be frustrating to read but idk i liked it? like it did have a lot of drama, and it felt like it was one of those reality shows that are on tv (those u watch because it’s trash but entertaining) but it also had good moments like the royal siblings relationship & i rlly liked easton & ellas friendship after the beginning, so i’d say give it a chance if u can handle problematic stuff

kulti by mariana zapata. kulti is about a soccer player who had a crush on a v good soccer player, who ends up being her soccer coach. now this one got age difference so if ur not cool with that don’t read. but it’s a slow burn & i rlly enjoyed it when i read it

the wall of winnipeg and me by mariana zapata. this one is also a slow burner, even slow than kulit i think?? & it got fake relationship. so the main lady was assistant for an american football player who could be a dick. so she quits but then he comes to her place later & ask if she can come back. only this time to like be with him or something cause he needs to stay in the country & his visa is out (he’s canadian). tho give it a go cause it is rlly cute

one of us is lying by karen m. mcmanus. ok now this isn’t really a romance book, bUT IT HAS SOME REALLY CUTE ROMANTIC PARTS OK. so this is one of my fave books this year. idk what to say without spoiling anything but it’s like the breakfast club meets gossip girl meets pretty little liars. or imagine tbc with murder that works too

the hating game by sally thorne. REALLY REALLY CUTE BOOK. enemies ish to friends to lovers. two people who works at the same office. they are competing for a new promotion. if lucy wins she’ll be joshuas boss but if she loses she’ll resign cause she cant work under him. anyway like i said it’s a really cute book & it has a paintball scene (flashback to 10 things i hate about you) 

everything leads to you by nina lacour. a really cute, soft & gay book. so i read this book last year so i don’t remember much but it gave me nancy drew vibes. anyway it’s rlly good just check it out plz

simon vs. the homo sapiens agenda by becky albertalli. also a really cute & gay book. the main is having convos over email with a guy who goes to his school but he doesn’t know who he is (the guy doesn’t know who he is either). don’t remember much more but it got a happy ending and is rlly cute

the duff: designated ugly fat friend by kody keplinger. this one follows bianca who knows that she isnt the prettiest among her friends, but when wesley she throws her coke in his face. but her home life isnt the greatest either, & she needs distraction so she ends up kissing wesley. so this is more like an enemies with benefit kind of story? until they fall in love ofc. idk i just really liked it cause i’d relate to bianca, but also bianca & wesley r the cutest ok. (the book is 100% better than the movie)
