I think all the Avengers experience varying states of loneliness / isolation, but there’s no-one who really embodies and lives in that state in the way Steve Rogers does. That man drags it around with him wherever he goes. You see him in certain scenes in the films and it’s like you can taste it through the screen - the absolute gnawing sense of loss. everything he knows is gone. He is the last man alive from the world he existed in. He is his own bedtime story - mythologised to the point of dehumanisation. How would that change a person? Every other Avenger has connections, built from a lifetime of living. Steve was plucked out of his lifetime and forced to start again - new game, new rules, no time to stop and teach him, just an expectation that he’ll pick it up along the way. Does he spend days without saying a single word to anyone? Do you think he even remembers what it’s like to be touched without violence? I think about that a lot and it kind of makes me want to cry

am I the only one who’s insane about how in 12 final days when roger is at his anxious peak about the beginning of the laver cup, apprehensively approaching and greeting the group of players in the event center, djokovic is the one to let him know impartially that he is wearing a tux shirt and not a suit shirt, wherein roger still has the time to go change which he does, and this is right after the movie frames the still remaining tense dynamic between the two and djokovic’s vaguely inexplicable and ambiguous reason for showing up today
