okay look i get that it’s difficult to get new characters involved in the supernatural plot in stranger things since obviously they need to be caught up on everything first. but the fact is eddie and argyle were present all season which. yes eddie was plot relevant and argyle was fun and occasionally helpful but. we don’t see vickie at all.
like okay let me list all the scenes she was in (at least the ones that i remember please lmk if i missed something i’ll edit the post)
robin and steve talk about vickie in the car on the way to the sports event(?)
vickie agrees that tammy thompson sings like a muppet
robin sees vickie and her boyfriend at the weapons store
robin and vickie make sandwiches together
like. the duffers know how to introduce and get people invested in new characters but with vickie they quite literally did not bother. and i guess you have to wonder why that is (we can all deduce the reason why).
#rovickie#stranger things#st#robin buckley#vickie stranger things#stranger things s4#look i’m not above enjoying a badly written lesbian romance#but the fact is the duffers are capable of writing relationships better than this!!#lumax and jopper were so good this season#robin and nancy’s ‘you said the happiness of your friends. does that mean we’re friends?’ scene was wayyy more romantic#than anything rovickie got this season#i’m not getting that quote right but whatever#like it’s not at all surprising that despite the canon wlw couple lesbian stranger things fans are way more likely to ship ronance or elmax#not sure where i’m going with this it’s 3am just#justice for vickie#anyway whatever your thoughts on ronance please remember that this is primarily a post about misogyny not about ships so

This kinda inspired by one of your enemies to lovers stories where eddie says “you wouldn’t be able to handle me” but reader instead says “oh yeah i couldn’t handle the two-centimeter-pussy-defeater bc id because i would be too busy laughing my ass off at your angry half inch.”
Sorry i have been holding that one in for quite some time 😤
Beg for it

“Game night at my place, the whole group will be there” Steve announces after greeting you. You went to visit him and Robin since you were already near the place. Also, maybe you could find a movie to watch tonight.
“Ugh, really? They all said yes already?” you ask.
“If you’re expecting me to say that Munson hasn’t, then I have bad news” he confirms.
“Fuck”
“You’re not even trying to be friends at this point” he complains.
“It’s impossible with him being so mean all the time” you tried to defend yourself but Robin was quick to refute your statement.
“You sure are mean to him as well, don’t act so innocent”
“Well, he started it! I didn’t even know him and he started with the jokes and asshole comments” you weren’t lying.
You were new in town, and new at the summer job your dad had found for you. He wanted you to already have some experience at working so you could make a better curriculum later. There was were you met Nancy and instantly became good friends. So much so that she had introduced you to her friend group she has had for years already. Steve, Nance, Jonathan, Robin and Eddie. The former four had been sweethearts to you since you first met them, easily becoming good friends as well. The problem was with the latter. The night Nancy had introduced you to everyone, he started being a little distant and cold towards you. You tried not to feel offended since he could just be shy or introverted, but then he started throwing snide comments and sarcastic mocking your way. You were not going to sit there and take that, so you equally threw cutting remarks at him.
That’s how the current war with him started. And that’s why your friends keep insisting with this forced proximity, so we could all be a happy family.
But it was useless, you and Eddie do agree on that.
The game night arrived that Friday. You were at the Harrington household with several board games awaiting on the table. Battleship, Clue, Guess Who, Monopoly, Scrabble, you name it.
“We wanted to make different groups and play all of these, then see which team is the best” Robin explains. “Steve and me will be team one” she says as she writes that in the whiteboard. They really went all out, since we could all be pretty competitive.
“Group two!” Jonathan exclaims quickly grabbing Nancy’s hand.
“Wait… no, definitely not” You start complaining after realizing that would mean you’re stuck with Eddie.
“No way! I’m not teaming up with her, she’ll make us lose at everything” he complains as well.
“I will? I think the actual loser here it’s you”
“Oh, am I now-?” The metal-head starts responding when Steve steps in, cutting him off.
“Okay! Stop yelling, we’re not even playing yet! The teams have been chosen, try and be faster next time”
“We’ll start with Guess Who” Robin announces.
As the game progressed, the bickering continued.
"Does your person have brown hair?" Eddie asks Nancy and Jonathan, who nod.
You reach over to flip down the characters with blond or red hair "See, this is why we should’ve picked someone with a hat, it's less obvious"
Eddie rolled his eyes "Oh, please. Like your guess was any better. We’re losing here!” Eddie complains.
"Only if you keep making terrible guesses" you shoot back.
"Does your person have a hat?" you ask the other team.
"No"
"Still think the hat was a good idea?" Eddie raised an eyebrow at you.
"It was strategic" you huff, flipping down the characters with hats.
After playing most of the board games you had, you were tied with the second group, Steve and Robin had already lost.
“Last but not least, to decide the winner of this evening, I present… battleship” Robin announces once more.
"You sure you can keep up with this game? It requires more than just a pretty face" Eddie asks you.
"Don’t worry, I have enough brains to make up for your lack of them" you respond.
“Quit it, start playing” Steve orders.
"Let's just get this over with" you roll your eyes.
They set up the Battleship boards, each team carefully arranging their ships. Eddie and you hunched over the board, whispering fiercely.
"Put the battleship here" he insist, pointing to the top left corner.
"No, it’s too obvious. Let’s hide it in the middle"
"Fine, but when they hit it right away don’t blame me" he groans.
As the game progressed, your bickering intensified.
"B6" Jonathan called out.
You glance at the board and softly nod your head "Hit"
Eddie leans closer, his voice a teasing whisper, "I told you the corner was better"
"Just focus"
When it was your turn, Eddie called out "G4"
Nancy checks their board, "Miss"
You smirk "Looks like your guess wasn’t so great either"
Eddie rolls his eyes "Just wait"
A few rounds later, it was your turn again.
"E5" Eddie calls out.
"Miss" Nancy announces.
"I told you they wouldn’t put it there" you huff.
"Like you’ve done any better"
"How about C3?" you roll your eyes.
"Fine, C3" Eddie sighs.
"Hit" Jonathan says between his teeth.
"See? I told you" you smirk.
"Don’t get cocky, princess"
The tension built as the game neared its end, each team with only one ship left.
"Last shot, let's go with G3" Eddie says
You nod.
"You sunk our battleship" Jonathan confirms after a long sigh.
“YES!”
“COME ONN” both you and Eddie shout in excitement and before even thinking about it you hug tightly.
Robin and Steve watch the scene with wide eyes and smirks on their faces.
And the second your bodies touch each other you realize what you’re actually doing. The hug only lasts few seconds before you both back away awkwardly.
“See? You actually do make a pretty good team” Robin comments.
“Only because I took the last shot” Eddie says.
“Oh please, if it were up to you we’d still be guessing corners” you reply.
"And if it were up to you, we'd be stuck in the middle forever”
Your friends roll their eyes as the bickering continued. And as you act indifferent, you try not think about how you had to stand on the tip of your toes to wrap your arms around his neck, or how soft his hair had felt touching your skin.
His frizzy and chaotic hair. But so curly and soft.
--
Couple of weeks after that night had passed, you hung out with the guys almost every weekend. You favorite nights were the ones Eddie was busy and couldn’t make it. Like tonight.
“Pass the salt, please” Nancy asks Robin. You all went out to have dinner together. Not all actually, Jonathan was too busy as well, him you did miss.
“It’s like we’re having a girl’s night!” you say excitedly and both girls laugh as well.
“No, you’re not about to count me in as a girl” He complains.
“Oh please, you have better hair than me!” Robin comments and he rolls his eyes.
“I’m just teasing, jeez! Someone has their panties in a twist!” you joke.
“Are you on your period or something?” Nancy joins in sarcastically.
“Alright, not even funny” Steve interrupts. “Let's focus. I think we should keep planning the trip, even though we’re not all here tonight”
“Don’t even mention it. I miss Jonathan so much, he’s been so busy lately. I think he really needs a break” Nancy complains and Robin agrees with her.
“I know, it’s really noticeable when Eddie’s not here either”
“Oh yeah, he’s the one I miss. His irritating voice and loud comments. His annoying essence it’s what’s missing here!” you joke but they don’t find it funny.
“We’ve been through this, you’re gonna have to learn to like each other”
“Sure sure, so… the trip?” you change the topic acting foolish.
“Yeah, I liked the hiking option. We always go to the lake every summer, we should change it up” Nancy votes. You’ve never went to any lake with them since this is the first year you’re joining them. But they had told some stories about this hidden lake they usually go to in summer.
“I think so too, plus we should do something different since we have a new integrant” Steve comments smiling at you. Robin and you also agree to go with that option.
The guys make sure of telling the rest everything you have agreed on that night. You’ve settled on where to go hiking and the cabin that would be waiting for you at night.
A few weeks later you're all set to go.
The trip to get there was...
Steve and Jonathan took turns driving. "You must be a really shitty driver if no one here trusts you behind the wheel" you notice and tell Eddie.
"I'm not a bad driver, princess. Maybe we could go for a drive sometime and you could judge for yourself! We'll call it a date" Eddie teases you the way he knows will shut you up, it always worked. As soon as he started flirting with you, it was like you got shy all of the sudden. Replying with some nonsense that would make Eddie laugh harder because he knew he had won.
"I'd rather get eaten by a shark" you respond ignoring the nervousness that ran through your body.
"Alright, we still have a few hours ahead of us, and I'm not gonna make them with you two bickering the whole way there. So calm down" Steve —or actually, mom Steve— told you off.
Once you got to the cabin, you parked the car, settled everything down, ate something and got ready for today's hiking exercise.
Eddie was never a big fan of sports, so he knew that after an hour or so of hiking —no matter how slow they were walking or how much water he was drinking— he would just start to stay a little behind. Not a lot, but definitely the last on the row.
Also, he started to get bored. Eddie was chatting with Jonathan, but he started to take pictures of every little plant or flower he saw, and the higher you got, the more pictures of the view he wanted to take.
So Eddie started to walk in silence, taking notice of other little things, like the fact that you and Steve look pretty close and pretty giggly with each other since you started hiking. But not only that, obviously, it's not like he's jealous or anything. For him to be jealous he would have to like you in the first place, and there was no way Eddie wants you.
You're the obvious person to like; everyone in Hawkins is already smitten with you. Every guy has a crush on you because you're undeniably beautiful. He knew from the first moment he saw you that you'd never go for a guy like him. So, to keep himself from showing any sign that he wanted you, he did the opposite —he started to hate you.
So he is definitely not jealous. He was only noticing that like he noticed the colourful rocks that he walked by, or the clouds in the sky, or the way those shorts hug your body so nicely.
But he keeps hearing your laughter every ten seconds. Was Steve really being that funny, or you were acting all giggly for him? Did you like Steve? It certainly seems like you do.
You, however, were having so much fun. In the middle of a funny story Steve was telling you about some guy who tried to flirt with Robin at work and the look on her face not knowing how to tell him she didn’t like him —or well, any men for that matter.
The forest path was rugged, but you welcomed the challenge at first, feeling the cool morning air on your skin. However, after a while, your legs began to protest, your breath came in shorter gasps. It was hard to keep up with Steve. Swimmer and football player Steve. So you had to slow down a little, now walking alongside Eddie.
“What’s the matter, princess? Can’t keep up?” he teases with a mocking tone.
“You literally got behind sooner than me” you answer, shaking your head. “If anyone’s slow here, it’s you”
“But it looks like we're both walking together now, so who's really winning?” Eddie chuckles, unfazed by your sharp reply as his eyes twinkle with amusement.
You decide to ignore him. How foolish of you to think that he would accept that silence.
“So what’s the deal between you and Steve? You looked pretty cozy back there. You’re not very subtle, you know”
“There’s no deal with Steve, we were just talking” you roll your eyes, irritation flaring up.
"Right, just talking" he says, his tone dripping with scepticism. "You’re so obvious, it's almost painful to watch"
“Why don’t you stop jumping to conclusions and mind your own business”
“Ohh, is the princess mad at me now? I’m so scared!” he grins, clearly pleased with himself.
“You’re impossible” you say almost to yourself.
You kept walking for a few more hours, taking occasional breaks to catch your breath and sip some water. The trail seemed endless, but the beauty of the forest made it worth the effort.
As you trudged along, you noticed the sky darkening. Grey clouds, rolling in with alarming speed. The wind picked up, rustling the leaves more aggressively.
A man in uniform hurrying down the trail called you out. "Hey, you guys need to find shelter! A big storm is coming in fast. There's no way you'll make it back down in time"
Panic start to appear in all of your eyes.
“Wait? Seriously?” Nancy asks.
“Yes! There’s a motel that’s a few minutes away, to your left” the guy informs you. “I don’t know how much room they have left, cause I’ve been sending some people there already. But you should go now”
Finally after quickening your pace, you spot the outline of a motel nestled among the trees. You hurry towards it. As you approach, you see the motel was old but resistant.
You reach the door and push it open, stumbling inside just as the storm unleashed its full fury. Inside, it was dim and musty, but at least it was dry.
“Hello, uh, we need room for six, please” Nancy is the first one to get to the register and talk to the old woman who was reading a newspaper as if she hadn’t heard you coming in.
“$70 the night” she answers without even looking up at you.
“Uhh… okay, we’ll take it” Nancy says and as you all reach for you wallets, the woman gives you three keys.
“There’s only three rooms left, two with queen beds and one with two separate single beds” she speaks again, as slowly as she can apparently.
“SEPARATE BED” Robin shouts fast.
“ME TOO” Steve is quickly to join her on calling dibs for that room. Not wanting to share a bed.
“Wait! No!” you complain. “Why would you get it just cause you screamed?”
“We called dibs, sorry sweetie” Robin explains.
“But that’s not fair, we should have discussed it!” Eddie joins in.
“Too late” Steve says handing the money to the woman and taking the key of their room.
“Come on guys, maybe they have a couch” Jonathan tries to make you feel better as he also pays and picks a key to their room.
“Are you actually making us share a bed?!” you ask them offended.
“Maybe it’ll help you become friends!” Robin tells you.
After paying and grabbing that stupid key, you all go to your rooms. As you walk in you notice that, in fact, there is no couch.
“Fuck” Eddie complains once again. “I’ll take the floor, let’s just find some blankets that I can sleep on”
And you turn that room upside down trying to find some. But the only blanket in the room is the –only– one on the bed.
“There’s nothing here!” you sit on the bed admitting defeat. “We’re both gonna have to sleep on the bed. I’m gonna freeze without a blanket and you can’t sleep on the bare floor, you’d freeze too”
“If you wanted to sleep with me, you could’ve just said so” Eddie jokes.
“Not now, Munson! Really not in the mood!”
After each getting ready for bed, you start building a wall of pillows in the middle. Separating his part of the bed from yours.
“I bet you wouldn’t make Steve have a wall of pillows” he mumbles, but you’re able to hear him nonetheless.
“Did you not listen when I said not now?!”
“See, that’s the problem with you. You think you can just walk in here acting like you own the fucking place. Newsflash, princess, not everyone is going to fall at your feet following your little orders!” Eddie gets mad for real this time, but so are you.
“I’m so sorry for trying to make this less uncomfortable! Actually, if you want I’ll even cuddle you while we sleep!”
“Shut up” Eddie rolls his eyes.
“No really, we should even make out before sleeping while we’re at it! Maybe that’ll prove to you that I don’t fucking like Steve”
“Yeah, you wish” Eddie comments.
“Actually, I think you wish. Giving that you’re always trying to flirt with me when we argue and giving how jealous you seem to be about Steve” you notice.
“I’m not fucking jealous. And you’re the one suggesting to fucking make out!”
“See, I think you do want to. You’re just too much of a pussy to even admit it” you whisper close to his face.
“Oh my God, princess!” Eddie starts laughing arrogantly. “You wouldn’t even be able to handle me”
“Oh yeah, you’re right! I could not handle your two centimetres because I would be too busy laughing my ass off at your angry half inch” you respond at his face.
But he doesn’t say anything back. He just looks at you. His jaw clenching, eyes darkening, breath heaving.
Before you can react, he closes the distance in one swift, aggressive movement. Gripping your arms tightly, he kissed you fiercely and angrily, his lips bruising against yours, as if trying to channel all the pent-up emotions into that kiss.
To say that you're shocked would be an understatement. But you did kiss him back. How could you not? With all the ardor and sentiment that he was putting into that kiss?
That fucking kiss.
After he felt your lips moving along with his in a dance, he let all the anger go. The kiss became passionate and intense instead of angry. Like you were finally letting go. Stopped overthinking and finally giving in.
You didn't need to talk. You didn't want to. Instead, you put one hand on his haw and the other on his hair, feeling it in between your fingers, bringing him even closer.
He sighs, holding a grunt as he feels you play with his hair. His hands move lower to your hips, feeling the upper part of your body in the process.
A fight for dominance is held up between you two. He bites your lip harshly, and you let out a little gasp that allows him to win. He's playing dirty. You're not surprised.
He starts to push you down slowly, so you're lying on the bed with him on top of you.
Your hands travel lower as well as you feel his back. You wonder if he has any tattoos there as well.
He dares to leave your lips alone as he lowers his kisses to your jaw and then your neck. He kisses and bites and licks all over your neck. You can bet that he is leaving marks as purple as a grape.
It turns you both on even more.
Eddie feels like he's flying. He's even touching the clouds. Marking you all up is only an image that haunts him in his fantasies. Like when he can't sleep, or is in the shower, or after fighting with you all evening and you're looking so beautiful and you're being such a brat. That's when he imagines leaving you all bruised out. But he's actually doing it right now, and he's going feral.
You start to feel like you're too dressed. His hands go under your shirt, and he starts to pull it up. You pull your arms up as well so he can take it off. His kisses keep traveling lower on your body. Your chest, your shoulders, the top of your breasts. He stops there. Making out with one of your nipples over the lace of your bra while pinching the other. You start moaning, your hips move searching friction on your core, and he lowers his hips so you can start dry humping him.
You feel his smirk against your sensitive skin as well as his hard on against your centre. Mocking your desperation. You're not surprised.
He moves up, meeting face to face once again. "So desperate for me, aren't you princess?" he whispers so closely to you face you can feel his lips moving and his evil smile too.
He watches you breath hard and your legs trying to close searching for that friction in between once more.
"Ask me nicely and I'll take care of you" he proposes and you roll your eyes.
You can't. You won't.
"Beg for it, princess" he tries again. "Let me hear you"
You shake your head. You're playing difficult, but Eddie likes a challenge.
"No? You're not gonna beg for me? Alright princess, you know what I'm gonna do?" he pauses to think. "I'm gonna make you cum so fast on my tongue you'll be embarrassed, and then you'll know how much of a desperate slut you can be for me"
You want to laugh and tell him off, but you are so intrigued by his confidence at the same time. You settle for a defiant look thrown at him, he catches it and smirks again. Something tells you you'll be seeing that smirk quite a lot tonight.
He unhooks your bra and throws it somewhere in the room, he squeezes your tits and caresses your nipples making a mental note to keep playing with them later. His hands travel down to your pants which are the next item being thrown away inside the room.
He takes a second to admire the view of you only on those white panties and he feels his cock jump. He proceeds to take your underwear off too, but this item is put inside his back pocket.
He puts your legs over his shoulders and lowers to be closer to your pussy. He bites his lip admiring how fucking pretty and perfect it looks. He wastes no more time and dives in.
He licks it and kisses it and sucks on it drunk on your taste. He fucking makes out with your clit and has you meowing and arching back like a damn cat.
His hands grab your thighs so hard he's probably leaving marks there too. He sighs and hums and laughs against your pussy hearing your pretty moans.
He looks up at you as you look down at him and you both feel like you could just cum at the sight alone. Your cheeks blushed, eyes watery, hair a mess, lips swollen and little moans are still coming out of them. He looks up at you while still sucking on your clit so fucking good. His eyes are covered by his bangs so you reach to move them to the side. His puppy eyes look straight at you, his hair is also a mess, and his hands are gripping you with so much force his skin as well as yours becomes whiter. And his rings feel cold and addictive against you.
You try to fight your orgasm but looking at him makes it impossible. It hits all throughout your body so good that you cry out his name as you pull on his hair.
As you catch your breath, he sits up and washes all your wetness off his face with the back of his hand, all that with a big smirk on so proud of himself.
"Still doubting me?"
You grunt, annoyed, and bring him closer. You pull his shirt over his head and take a second to admire his bare chest and arms covered in tattoos. You unbutton and unzip his pants. He's just watching you act so desperate for him to undress, enjoying every second of it like the cocky motherfucker he can be.
"Need help?" he whispers on your ear, and you nod with a pout. He stands up and takes his pants of slowly.
"These too?" he asks, signalling his boxers. You nod as you feel even hotter paying attention to the big tent he has on them.
He puts them down too, standing up proudly as you look at his big cock. "Half inch you said?" he teases you, and you look up at him as if telling him to shut the fuck up.
You sit up facing his dick. You grab it gently as you keep looking at it. How is it so... pretty? How the fuck does Eddie manages to be pretty everywhere. Even what you thought could not be pretty. He manages to make it look beautiful.
A mischievous thought crosses your mind. And you start leaving some kisses on the tip. Even a lick here and there.
He gasps unexpectedly. You put the tip in your mouth, moving your tongue around it. He lets out a little moan. You look up at him, he's already looking at you. And you proceed to slowly put all of it in your mouth while maintaining eye contact. His tip touches your throat, and you have to fight a gag. You still have a full fist grabbing the rest that didn't fit your mouth. He moans again at your little show. You close your eyes and start moving your head up and down. Eddie moans louder this time, and hands stop your movements.
"As much as I enjoy this, princess, and I really fucking am" he lets you know. "I want to cum once I'm inside of your perfect little pussy, can I?"
You take him out of your mouth with a 'pop' at the end and look at him defiantly once again. "Beg for it" you challenge him feeling proud of yourself.
He laughs. "Are you seriously telling me to beg for it while you're still practically on your knees for me?"
You won't let him win this one, so you lay back again resting on your elbows. "Beg for it"
He takes a big breath in ogling over all of your body on display for him and only him. He'll let you win this one because his dick is throbbing at the sight before him.
His hands travel up your legs and your hips to your waist. "Please, princess" he says once his face is closer to yours.
"Please, let me fuck you so good" he starts humping his dick against your pussy which makes you both gasp.
"Please, please, please" he kisses your cheek to sugar-coat you.
"Eddieee" you move your pelvis up and down against him. "Do it, put it in"
And he wastes no time to do so. Pushing his tip inside and you both gasp. He bites his lip and thrusts to enter you completely.
"Oh, fuck" your head is thrown back and you lay back down. He feels so big and so fucking good in you.
"Mhh, fuck princess" he lowers his body to be chest to chest with you. "You feel so good baby, so tight around me"
You have to bite your tongue to stop you from moaning his name, you can't keep inflating his ego.
"Don't get all quiet now. You're always talking and the one time I wanna hear you..." he teases you.
"Earn it" you manage to get out. It's ironic how your lips are almost bleeding from how hard you're biting on them to stop you from moaning as hard as you want to, but you still tell him to fuck you better.
Eddie knows what you're doing, but he likes playing with you too. So he accepts the challenge.
He gets up on his knees against the bed and takes your legs to pull you closer to him. You instantly wrap them around his hips. He wraps a hand around your throat and he looks like he's about to say something, but instead, he enters you again. A moan escapes from your mouth instantly, and you see his big smirk back.
He starts a hard and fast pace with his thrusts as you hear his sighs against your ear. You can't help the whines and moans that escape you now. Your hands go to his back scratching him, and pulling at his hair, but it only makes him moan harder.
He lowers his head to your breasts once again and keeps kissing them as he fucks you. You arch back again, because you can feel him everywhere. And he feels so so good.
He feels you clench around his dick and he thinks he could just cum right now. So he starts playing with your clit with his fingers.
"Eddiee... 'm so closee" you whine pulling him somehow even closer.
"Yeah? You are?" you nod desperately. "Beg for it" he whispers and smirks right after saying it.
You roll your eyes but it doesn't take much to convince you this time.
"Please, Eddie," he was about to tell you that you can do better, but beat him to it. "Please baby, you feel so good inside of me, so big. Eddie, please"
Eddie has to stop himself from cuming -which he almost does. "Cum for me, baby"
And you do. Your orgasm hits even harder than the first one. You gasp and whine without even thinking about it.
Few seconds after that, Eddie can't take it anymore. He feels you clench even harder while you cum and it becomes too much. So he lets go too while moaning your name against your skin.
You take a few seconds to catch your breaths when you feel Eddie pull out —and after admiring how his cum drips out of your pussy— he gets up, puts on his boxers and goes to the bathroom, only to come back with a wet towel to clean you up. To say he surprised you again was an understatement. Who would have thought he would be so careful?
After you go to the bathroom as well —with wobbly legs Eddie smirks about— and change into some comfy clothes, you both lay down. No wall pillow this time. And are quick to fall asleep after all the exercise you did today.
The next morning wasn’t so sweet. Loud knocking on your bedroom’s door accompanied a loud Robin telling you to get up already.
Waking up all curled up with him was bound to happen. But if someone would have told you yesterday morning that today you would be waking up with Eddie Munson spooning you, you would have laughed at their face.
But here you are, and to be honest, it had been a while since you slept so peacefully.
You feel him groaning against the skin of your shoulder, holding you tighter.
You slowly opened your eyes to accustom to the light.
“Did you end up killing each other last night?! Answer me!” Robin shouts again from the other side of the door.
“Certainly feels like it” Eddie murmurs and laughs at his own joke.
“We’re awake! Calm down!” you let her know.
“We have to leave so then we can breakfast, so hurry up!” she lets you know.
You get up and start tiding up. Eddie is slower, he sits on the bed barely opening one eye to look at you and smiles. “Good morning, princess”
You look at him and a little smirk escapes from your lips. “Hey” you greet him shyly.
You both start changing to get down and tidy everything down. After you both brush your teeth, you go to pick up your backpack but he stops you to pull you in close to him.
“Good morning” he says again with his face close to yours while he pulls a strand of your hair behind your ear. Then he proceeds to kiss you, sweetly this time. Which warms your heart. You kiss him back playing with his hair once again.
“Hi, Munson” you say sweetly against his lips.
“You look beautiful in the morning” he admits but before you can even react, the knocking on your door is back.
“Okay! Okay! We’re coming!” Eddie stops them. “Jesus”
After getting down, you were waiting for them to explain where you would be having breakfast but as soon as they see you they start looking at you funny.
“What?” Eddie asks being as confused as you but they all start laughing.
“What is going on?” you ask again.
“Are we just gonna pretend like nothing happened?” Jonathan asks now.
“Yeah, were you gonna act like you still hate each other today?” Steve teases.
And you understand all the laughter. You and Eddie look at each other surprised and apparently this is also very funny because they start laughing again.
“Oh fuuuck” Jonathan starts mocking the way Eddie sounded last night also acting like moaning your name.
“Oh Eddie, so close!” Steve joins him acting like you.
Your face is as red as a tomato right now and you feel like you could just die, it would be better than taking whatever this is. You hide your face in Eddie’s shoulder after he just rolls his eyes fighting another smirk.
He laughs at you, put stills hugs you.
“You wanted us to like each other…” He defends you two.
“Yeah, apparently you took that very literal” Robin teases after catching her breath.

If I Should Stay
Part 1 | . . . | Part 7 | Part 8 | Part 9
After pizza—and after El wakes up and eats her own pizza—everyone gathers around again to listen to Steve and Robin. “So I think by now we’ve proven we’re from the future,” Steve says. “We’re here, four years in the past, because a lot of bad things happen, and if we can, we’d like to stop those things from happening. The big one, and really the recurring problem, is a guy named Henry Creel who essentially took control of an alternate plane of existence we call the Upside Down.” He motions El over beside him, and she goes gladly, tucking her feet up onto the couch as she leans into his side, trusting him to hold her up. He does, sliding a protective arm around her shoulders as he says, “He’s also One.”
He watches as one by one the lightbulbs come on. “Oh, shit,” Dustin whispers, and Steve doesn’t even call him on it, just nods.
“Beyond Henry, though, there are creatures in the Upside Down that can and will kill you.” He rolls his eyes fondly at the boys. “For some inexplicable reason, you came up the names, so they’re called demogorgons, demodogs, and demobats. Demogorgons are what took Barb and Will, but they both got away. That doesn’t mean they’re safe, though. Like El said earlier, Barb was safe in the moment, but it’s still a very dangerous place. There are vines everywhere that are connected to a hive mind. You step on one, and Henry knows you’re there.”
He continues telling the story, Robin interrupting when there’s a detail he misses. It’s silent when they finish. Finally, El speaks up. “So, it is… my fault?”
“No, El,” Steve says softly. “None of this is your fault. Things out of your control happened that made you who you are. Those same things created all of this.”
El frowns. “So I am bad? Like One? Like the Upside Down?”
“No,” Mike says sharply. “You’re good, El.”
“He’s right,” Steve murmurs. “You made yourself good.” He pokes her arm teasingly, and she smiles, leaning back into him.
Steve looks around, catches Nancy’s eye, and sighs. “Nance? A word?”
“Steve?” Robin asks.
He shakes his head. “I’ll yell if I need you,” he promises, rubbing her head as he passes. She squawks and bats his hand away.
“Asshole,” she mutters, and he laughs as he disappears down the hallway, Nancy in tow.
They end up in a room Steve thinks was meant to be a study. “You have questions.”
“Understatement of the century. There’s just one that’s really bugging me, though.”
“Us?”
“Yeah.”
Steve sighs and leans against the wall. “On Halloween, Tina throws a party. We didn’t know what we do now, about the Upside Down, and you were still looking for her. I was an asshole, self-centered and unhelpful.” He blows out a breath, crosses his arms, and looks away. “You got drunk, called me, and my love for you, bullshit. Left. I tried to talk to you the next day at school about it and you couldn’t say you loved me. I was still hopeful. I’m a romantic at heart, y’know? I thought maybe if I could be everything you needed, if I changed enough, if, if, if…” he shakes his head. “So we stayed together. I tried. You slept with Jonathan Byers, then broke up with me.”
Nancy looks horrified. “Steve-”
He shakes his head. “I made my peace with it. And maybe this makes me an asshole, I dunno, but Nance, I can’t go back. We’re okay, we’re friends, but I can’t pretend I still have feelings for you. I’m sorry, but we both know I was just convenient for you.”
Nancy takes a breath. “So that’s it?”
Steve shrugs helplessly. “I don’t know what you want me to do. I tried and got my heart broken for it. I moved on, found someone I think I can really be happy with, without changing who I am. And for the record? It gets rocky for a second, but I think you and Byers are it, too.” He smirks. “Plus Mike likes him better than me.”
Nancy rolls her eyes. “Oh, well, if Mike likes him better…” they both laugh, and she looks at him. “No more feelings?”
He shakes his head. “We make much better friends.”
Nancy grins lopsidedly. “And Robin?”
Steve snorts. “Purely platonic, I promise. Neither of us want anything else with each other.”
Nancy looks at him then. Studies him. “You’ve been through some shit,” she decides. “But you look happy.”
He smiles. “I am, for the most part. I know who I am.”

Teenage Dirtbag - Eddie Munson
A/N: well, this keeps on working so far 😂😂😂 here's Eddie's story! and then is full Marauders, James, then Remus, and then Sirius! I hope you guys like it!
Request - lunamadhatter99 asked: I do have a request, my friend! I'm so happy requests are open😍 Anyway: Henderson!Reader x either Steve or Eddie (whoever works better for you), where the reader is very quiet, not necessarily shy, but still. She's targeted by the jocks too because she's the "loser" sister, you know, and maybe one day, one of their pranks went too far and she's very upset about it (maybe is the process a special possession of hers). Every time she gets bullied, Steve/Eddie helps her comfort her, especially because she doesn't want to tell his little brother, who thinks she is friends with them... does it make sense? I don't know, I'm sorry 😂👋
Warnings: mentions of sex; Billy being an asshole (also, this is kinda between s3 and 4 and Billy didn't die so Jason and Andy are his dumb friends I hope this makes sense) reader is kind of mean to Dustin (not really, she's just grumpy and a loner instead of shy, kind of like Kat in 10TIHAY)
Disclaimer: I don’t own Stranger Things :) gif isn’t mine :D

Teenage Dirtbag
'Cause I'm just a teenage dirtbag, baby Yeah, I'm just a teenage dirtbag, baby Listen to Iron Maiden, baby, with me, ooh
“DUSTIN! Hurry up! Steve is gonna be here any second! We’re gonna be late!” you smashed your hand against the bathroom door, yelling for your brother to get ready. You had been feeling anxious all day. Something inside you told you that today might not be a good day and, as much as you tried not to, you took it out on Dustin.
“I’m coming! Geez, calm down!”
You rolled your eyes and walked over to the kitchen to finish your coffee and wash the dishes but you tripped over a bag full of garbage.
“Ugh! Dustin!” you yelled as he walked over to you.
“What? What did I do now?”
“The trash is your chore” you complained, grabbing the bag and handing it to him. “When I say take out the trash, I mean outside of the house. To the trashcan!”
“Maybe you can show me for next time” he laughed.
“Maybe I can give your Nintendo to goodwill” you smirked back, erasing the smirk off his face.
“Fine, sorry” he said, grabbing the bag and going outside.
“Let’s go!” you said as soon as you heard Steve’s car parking on your driveway.
“Wait, where’s lunch?”
“Oh, shit!” you said, grabbing some of the money you left near the door in case Dustin needed to order food. “Here” you said, grabbing $10 for yourself and giving Dustin $5.
“Why do you get $10 and I get $5?” Dustin complained.
“Take out the freaking trash!” you replied, mocking his exact same tone.
“Good morning, Hendersons!” Steve smiled as you got in the front and Dustin got in the back.
“Thanks for the ride, Steve” you said. “Robin still out of town?” you asked, confused to not see her there already.
“Yeah, she’s coming back next week-”
“Why are we even going this early? School doesn’t start for another hour!” Dustin asked on the ride to school. “And why do you always ride shotgun?”
“Because I’m Steve’s favorite Henderson” you smirked. “And Steve has an early shift, so I wasn’t going to make him wait for us” you explained. “Plus, I have to get together with Nancy for something about the school paper” you informed him.
“Well, I could have taken my bike-”
“Just say thank you, Dustin!”
“Thank you” he said, rolling his eyes a little.
“Hey, aren’t those your old friends?” Dustin asked as Steve drove into the parking lot. You looked to where he was pointing to see the basketball players hanging outside the school with some of the cheerleaders.
“No” both you and Steve replied at the same time.
“Are you sure?” Dustin asked, confused. He recognized some of them, although he had noticed you never talked to them anymore.
“I’m sure” you said, rolling your eyes. “Just… stay away from them, okay?”
“Okay” he said, unconvinced. “Um, are we having movie night?” he asked Steve.
“Yeah, my house” he nodded.
“Cool. I think we’re going to Mike’s after school, so I’ll see you there” he told them.
“Okay” you nodded. Dustin started opening his door but you stopped him. “Dusty” you said, making him look confused at you. You rarely called him that anymore. “Nothing… I’ll see you at Steve’s” you told him and he nodded before he got out.
You saw him make his way over to Mike, Will, Lucas, Max, and El and you heard him complain about you and all of them saying how you used to be fun and happy all the time. You let out a sigh of frustration, throwing your head back on the chair.
“You know, you could just… tell him” Steve shrugged.
“I’m good” you told him.
“Dustin’s just worried about you” he insisted. “And to be honest, so am I-”
“Harrington, I know my brother’s your best friend now-”
“That’s not true” he glared at you.
“But you were my friend first and you promised we wouldn’t discuss this with Dustin” you told him.
“I’m just… a little confused, okay? Why did you all of the sudden stop hanging out with them like, what, a year ago?”
“You did too!” you argued.
“Well, yeah, because they’re assholes-”
“Exactly” you told him.
“But, now you’re here alone, because I graduated, I just don’t want you to be alone-”
“I’m fine on my own” you shrugged. “Plus… Eddie’s my friend-”
“Oh, right… Munson. That’s another thing. I know something happened last Halloween, okay? You mysteriously stop hanging out with all of our friends, you started wearing darker clothes, darker makeup and you start hanging around with Eddie, the freak, Munson-”
“I told you to stop calling him that” you glared at him.
“Which you also hide from Dustin-”
“Well, I just don’t want him to think that the only reason he and his friends are in Hellfire is because I asked Eddie to look after them-”
“But you did-”
“Steve, it is too early in the morning to have this discussion” you said, rubbing your temple.
“Fine… I’ll drop it” he said. “For now” he added, making you glare at him a little. “You working today?”
“No, it’s my day off” you informed him.
“Cool, want me to pick you up after work?”
“You sure it’s not too much trouble?”
“Nah, you’re my favorite Henderson after all” he smirked.
“I knew it!” you said, kissing his cheek before you opened the door. “See you later, Stevie” you said.
“Have a good day, kid” he waved at you.
He noticed you walking close to the group of jocks and they yelled something at you but you simply flipped them off and kept walking. Steve felt a bit uneasy about it but decided he would ask you about it when he picked you up. Sooner or later, you had to talk to him.
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
“Hey, princess” you felt a small smile, trying to contain the butterflies you felt in your stomach when you heard that voice. You turned around to see Eddie smiling at you.
“Munson, I thought you were standing me up today” you said as he sat at your usual table in the woods, past the bleachers.
“Wouldn’t dream of it, love” he said, sitting in front of you. “What do you got for me today?”
“I forgot to make lunch, so I had to grab something from the vending machine” you said, putting your cigarette out. “So, pretzels, or Reeses Pieces?”
“You just… happened to pick my two favorite things?” he smirked. “If I didn’t know any better, Henderson, I would think you like me” he mocked you.
“Uh-huh, is that a peanut butter and jelly sandwich? And two cokes?” your sked, looking at his bag.
“Grape jelly. Your favorite” he winked at you.
“Huh, if I didn’t know any better, Munson, I would think you like me” you returned the smirk.
“Wanna split it?” he asked and you nodded as you split the three things between the two of you. “So, what are you working on?” he asked, about to grab your sketchbook.
“Nothing!” you quickly said, putting it away before he could get it.
“Oh, that doesn’t sound suspicious at all” he mocked you. “Come on, show me!”
“It’s just… a work in progress” you told him. “It’s not finished yet” you insisted.
“Fine, be all mysterious” he chuckled. “Hey, did you get new colored pencils?” he asked, grabbing one of them.
“Oh, um… y-yeah” you said nervously. “There was a discount at the store where I work and-”
“Really?” he raised his eyebrow at you. “Or were your old ones… broken?”
“Um… there may have been an… incident-”
“Who?” he asked, his tone turning angry.
“It doesn’t matter, Eddie-”
“Yes, it does! Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Because I don’t want you to get into a fight and not graduate with me this year” you told him, making him laugh just barely. “Look, it’s fine. I really did get a discount and…” you said, looking through your bag. “I got markers too” you smiled brightly at him. “Look!”
You stood from your place and sat down on the table with your feet on the bench next to Eddie. You grabbed his hand and placed it on your knee, which was not an uncommon thing for you to do whenever you drew something on him but he felt his cheeks blushing. You quickly drew a small doodle of the Hellfire symbol using different colors and you smiled when you were done, showing it to him. Eddie rarely get to see that smile on you and he loved it when it happened.
“Holy shit!” he smiled, looking down at his hand. It looked cooler than the one in his shirt.
“Do you like it?” you asked, bashfully.
“I love it, princess! This is amazing!” he said, looking back at you. “You’re amazing” he smiled.
“Um, thanks” you said, looking down at his hand and feeling your cheeks burn. You could not ignore the butterflies in your stomach any longer. You grabbed his hand and stroked your thumb against your new drawing. “Uh, a-actually, what I didn’t want to show you is um… kind of… a surprise…” you admitted, not facing him.
You saw Eddie’s hand untangle from yours and make its way up to your chin, lifting your head gently and making you look into his beautiful, chocolate-brown eyes.
“A surprise?” he asked, smiling brightly. You simply nodded, unable to form any words by the way he was looking at you. “What is it?”
“If I told you, it wouldn’t be a surprise!” you chuckled. “I just want to finish it before I show it to you” you told him.
“Okay, fine” he said, as his hand suddenly found its way back to yours and you started playing with his rings. “But… you promise you’ll show it to me when it’s done?”
“I promise. I mean, it’s kind of… for you” you told him.
“Really?” he asked, and you nodded.
“Yeah, it’s kind of… a thank you” you admitted. “For everything” you added. “Even for my brother and his friends. Thanks for letting them in Hellfire” you told him. “I know they're a bit weird but… I love them and I'm happy they found someone like you” you said.
“My pleasure, princess” he told you. “They’re cool kids” he chuckled. “Especially Dustin” he added. “Although he keeps asking me why I always have different doodles all over me” he chuckled.
“Yeah, he’s pretty smart” you laughed too. “I don’t think it’ll be long before he realizes about us” you said, without really thinking. “I m-mean uh-”
“Us?” Eddie smirked. “And exactly what would he realize?” he asked, getting up and towering a little over you, placing his hands on both your sides. “That we’re friends?” he asked, with the same smirk still plastered on his face.
“Y-yeah, I guess” you said innocently.
“Would he mind?”
“Um- I don’t think so, I just… don’t want him to think that you’re only his friend b-because of me” you explained.
“Oh, he wouldn’t think that” he assured you, as he gently brushed your hair away from your face. “And… what if he thinks there’s something else between us?”
“Is there?” you asked, as you felt him getting closer. And then the bell rang. The stupid bell rang. “Fuck!”
“Ignore that” he pleaded.
“No! We have a Math test” you said, pushing him away and gathering all of your things. “I told you, Eddie, you’re graduating this year, with me. Let’s go!” you threatened him.
You’re killing me, sweetheart” he said, as you pulled him with you but he was stronger and he pulled you back. “To be continued?” he smirked.
For the first time in what felt like a lifetime, you smiled. It was a different smile, one that you didn’t think you had in you anymore and you could see Eddie noticed it. You leaned in and kissed his cheek.
“To be continued, Munson” you said, before you started pulling him towards the school despite his protests.
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
You were waiting in the parking lot for Steve. As much as you wanted, you were not able to be with Eddie alone the rest of the day. You were hoping to catch him at the end but, as a surprise to no one, he got detention, so here you were.
“Well, if it isn’t my lucky day?”
You cursed under your breath, silently begging for Steve’s car to appear any moment now. But no such luck.
“Hargrove” you sighed. “Oh, if it isn’t Tweedle-dee and Tweedle-dum” you smirked at Jason and Andy, standing with Billy.
“Fancy meeting you here, babe” Billy smirked at you.
“Can’t say the same” you said, trying to walk away but he stepped in front of you. “What do you want, Hargrove?”
“See, I have a question for you” he said. “Andy here, says he saw you coming out of those woods with Eddie fucking Munson” he said, getting closer to you and making you take a step back. “Is that true?”
“I fail to see how that’s any of your business, really” you glared at him.
“Well, for starters, I think Munson can do better” he said, making Andy and Jason laugh.
“Lovely” you rolled your eyes, trying to walk away again but they blocked your way.
“Aw, did I strike a nerve there? Do you have a crush on Munson?” he mocked you.
“Just, leave me alone, Billy-” you said, trying to leave but, you felt your sketchbook being taken from you.
“Oh, what is this?” Jason asked, opening the sketchbook. “Do you write your love letters to that freak here?” he laughed.
“Give that back!” you said, trying to get it back from him.
“Oh, it’s even better than that!” he said, showing your sketches to Billy and Andy who started laughing.
“Give me that!” you said as he tossed it to Billy.
“Looks like you’re a bit obsessed with him, babe” he said, looking at your drawings. “I’m guessing you wouldn’t want anything to happen to this, would you?” he said, tearing a few pages apart.
“Billy, give it back!” you yelled, but he pushed you back, making you fall to the ground, your hands aching when they hit the pavement.
“Whoops, clumsy me” he said, tossing your sketchbook on a nearby water puddle.
“Stop it!” you said, getting up and trying to get to it but Andy pushed you away.
“HEY! WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING!?”
“You want something, freak?” Jason yelled, smirking.
“Oh, speak of the devil” Billy smirked as Eddie approached all of you.
“Get the fuck away from her” he said, making his way over to Billy.
“Why don’t you keep walking and mind your business, freak?”
“You know, I gotta say, even for you, it’s pretty low, three guys against one girl” he smirked, erasing Billy’s.
“You really think it’s worth it? Standing up for that slut-?”
Before Billy could go on, Eddie quickly punched him in the face.
“Eddie!”
“You’re dead, freak!” Jason said, punching Eddie back while Billy got up, laughing.
“Looks, like you got some fire in you, Munson!” he yelled before he punched him too.
“Eddie!” you yelled, trying to get to him but Andy stopped you. “Stop it!”
“You having fun, Munson?” Billy smirked as he landed punches on Eddie before he grabbed him by his jacket. “No one tells me what to do!” he said before he pushed him to the ground again. He then threw himself at Eddie and started landing punch after punch, like a madman. The last time you had seen Billy like this was when he fought Steve and it shook you to your core.
“STOP IT! BILLY, STOP!”
“You really think you traded up, babe?” he smirked, looking at you. “He’s even worse than Harrington!”
“STOP IT, PLEASE!” you said, as tears started welling up in your eyes.
“Aw, you gonna cry, princess?” he said, mocking Eddie’s voice with the last word.
As if your prayers were finally answered, a car reeled in front of you, almost hitting Jason.
“What the fuck, Harrington?” he asked as Steve got out of the car.
“What the fuck is going on here?”
“Come join the party, Harrington” Billy smirked at him, finally letting go of Eddie. “Ready for round two?”
“Yeah, let me just get my friend here” Steve smirked, grabbing his bat out.
“Dude, what the fuck?” Andy said, letting go of you, and slowly walking away with Jason. You quickly ran over to Eddie, pushing Billy aside.
“Ready to go, Hargrove?” Steve said, walking closer to him as he and the other two stepped away.
“You know what? She’s not even fucking worth it” Billy said, throwing one last glare at you. “Let’s just go” he told Jason and Andy as they walked away.
“Eddie! Oh my God, Eddie! Can you hear me?”
“Do I have a concussion or did King Steve Harrington just save my ass?”
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
“Ouch!”
“Sorry, I’m sorry” you apologized, taking the cotton ball away.
You were now in Steve’s kitchen, cleaning Eddie up. You carefully pulled his hair up in a messy bun with your scrunchie so you could see him better. You placed your hand softly on his cheek and your heart broke seeing a big purple bruise printed on his left eye. He looked at you with his huge, deep brown puppy eyes and you had to take a deep breath to not lose it right there because you knew he needed you.
“You okay?” Eddie asked, worriedly.
“M-me? You’re asking if I’m okay? Eddie, Billy and Jason just beat the shit out of you, and you’re asking if I’m okay?”
“First of all, I’d like to think that I handled that with dignity. Secondly, you fell to the ground and that idiot Andy was hurting you” he said, grabbing your hand and tracing his thumb gently on the bruises forming in your arms where Andy grabbed you.
“I’m really sorry, Eddie” you said, coming out in a whisper and tracing your thumb against the now fading drawing you made earlier on his hand. A small tear fell down your cheek and Eddie quickly wiped it away before he cupped your cheek.
“Princess, you have nothing to be sorry for” he assured you.
“Yes, I do! You wouldn’t have gotten hurt if it wasn’t for me” you insisted.
“Hey” he said, pulling you closer to him. “I would do it all over again, love” he smiled at you.
“Hey, man” Steve said, coming into the kitchen and making you and Eddie jump apart. “Uh, sorry, I didn’t mean to interrupt. I got some clean clothes for you” he said offering Eddie a shirt and some sweatpants.
“Thanks, man” Eddie smiled, grabbing the clothes from him. “I’m uh- gonna go change and I’ll get out of your way-”
“We’re having movie night” Steve blurted out of the sudden. “We’re ordering pizza and Dustin, Mike, and the rest are coming over. If you’d like to stay” he offered.
“Oh, I wouldn’t want to intrude, man-”
“You’re not intruding. It’s the least I can do after you got hit for me” you told him.
“You keep bruising my ego, Henderson” he smirked at you. “What are we watching?” Eddie asked, interested.
“Gremlins” you told him.
“Seriously?” he asked, raising his eyebrow at Steve.
“Don’t look at me, man. It was her turn to choose the movie!” he said pointing at you.
“Shut up, you two. Gremlins is an awesome movie!”
“Isn’t that what you call your brother and his friends?” Eddie laughed. “I didn’t know that was your favorite movie, princess” he said. “Well, how can I say no to that masterpiece and pizza, I really can’t” he said, leaving the kitchen.
“So…” Steve started.
“So?”
“Are we going to talk about what happened today or are we just going to pretend nothing happened?”
“What do you want me to say?”
“Well, you can choose between telling me why your sketchbook has smudgy drawings of Eddie” he said, opening your wet, torn, destroyed sketchbook. “Or why Hargrove and his friends were beating the shit out of him in the parking lot” he added.
“Steve, I don’t want to talk about it-”
“Well, tough. Look, we’ve been friends for a very long time now. I told you why I stopped talking to Tommy and Carol and all of our friends but you never told me why you did and somehow Munson knows!” he argued. “I get that you don’t tell Dustin everything because you want to protect him but what is so horrible that you couldn’t tell me?”
“You don’t want to know-”
“Yes, I do! You’re my best friend! You can tell me anything!”
“You’re gonna hate me!”
“What? No! I swear, okay? Nothing you say will make me hate you! We’ve been through enough shit that you should know that already-”
“I slept with Billy!” you blurted out.
“W-what?” Steve asked, hoping he hadn’t heard you right.
“What?” another voice asked, from another side of the kitchen. Dustin.
“Oh, you have to be fucking kidding me!” you said, feeling like you were going to throw up. “What are you doing here?”
“We all just got here, I was looking for you” he said, walking closer to you and Steve. “You slept with Billy Hargrove, what the fuck is wrong with you?”
“Dustin!” Steve warned.
“You know what? I don’t want to deal with this right now” you said, grabbing your damped sketchbook and walking out of the house to Steve’s backyard. Dustin was about to follow you but Steve stopped him.
“Look, I get that you’re upset but you’re not going out there if you’re only going to upset your sister more. She had a hard day-”
“Well, how would I know that, Steve? She doesn’t talk to me!”
“What’s with all the yelling?” Eddie said, coming back into the kitchen.
“Eddie? What are you doing here?” Dustin asked confused. “What the fuck happened to you?”
“Uh- I am…” he looked at Steve, unsure as to what to say.
“Okay, what the fuck is going on? And what are you two and my sister hiding from me?”
“We’re not hiding anything from you. You need to calm down and we can go sort this out, okay?”
“Fine” Dustin said, unconvinced.
“You promise you won’t snap at her like you just did” Steve glared at him a little.
“Okay” he sighed, rolling his eyes. The three of them walked outside to find you sitting on one of Steve’s pool chairs. Steve and Eddie sat next to you and Dustin sat on the edge of the one you were sitting in. “Uh, hey” he said, nervously. “Um-” he continued when both Steve and Eddie glared at him. “I’m sorry I snapped at you earlier” he muttered.
“It’s fine, Dusty” you said, sitting up and hugging your legs to you.
“Look, Dustin and I are just worried about you” Steve continued. “We don’t want to push you or anything, we just… want to know what’s going on with you” he added. You looked up at Eddie and he softly nodded at you. He really wanted to hold your hand but he figured Dustin might freak out about it too.
“Um…” you took a deep breath. “Look, I know that… I’ve kind of been pulling away” you started. “And I’m sorry, it’s just…” you sighed. “It was a stupid mistake and I didn’t want either one of you to hate me” you admitted.
“What- uh, when?” Dustin stuttered. “Um, no, y-you go” he said.
“It just happened once” you informed them.
“At… last year’s Halloween party?” Steve guessed and you nodded.
“Look, I was… really drunk and, dad had just left and… mom was kind of a mess and… I don’t know, I guess I was too” you said, sadly.
“Wait, I was there that night, why didn’t you tell me anything?” Steve asked, confused.
“You had your own shit going on” you reminded him. “With Nancy” you added. “So, after you left I got drunker and… then I don’t know, Billy was just there and… it happened” you sighed. “And after I felt so awful” you told them. “When I came down I ran into Eddie and he saw I was upset” you explained. “He drove me home and… he stayed with me and he made sure I was okay” you smiled. “That’s how we became friends-”
“You two are friends?” Dustin asked. “I knew I recognized your doodles” he said, looking at the metalhead.
“Sorry I didn’t tell you” you told Dustin. “I just… didn’t want to get into the whole thing and… it’s not really the conversation you have with your little brother” you admitted.
“I get that but… we used to talk about everything” Dustin said, sadly. “We were always kind of a team and for the past year it just felt like… you hated me” he said.
“Dusty” you said, sitting closer to him and hugging him. “I could never hate you” you assured him. “I am so sorry I pushed you away, I was just… so embarrassed about what happened and, I kind of wanted to forget the whole thing and I guess that in the midst of it all I just… ended up pushing everyone away” you explained.
“So, what happened today?” Dustin asked, confused.
“Well, I was waiting for Steve to pick me up and Billy and his friends just started being idiots” you told him. “Eddie saw and tried to help me” you continued. “And then Steve got there with his bat and they went away” you told him.
“So, that’s why you tell me to stay away from them? I mean, I always knew Billy was a dick but… all of your friends?”
“Well, yeah. I told Billy that if he ever said a word about what happened to anyone, I’d tell everyone he cried like a bitch and he had a small dick” you said, making the three of them laugh a little. “And then, either I just stopped talking to them or they would stop talking to me and… it wasn’t just Billy, you know? You were right” you said, looking at Steve. “They were all just… assholes” you admitted.
“I could have told you that a long time ago” Eddie chuckled.
“You okay?” Dustin asked you.
“Yeah” you smiled. “I’m sorry… about… everything” you told him. “Both of you” you said, looking at Steve.
“Don’t worry” Dustin smiled at you. “I love you dumb-dumb” he said, putting his fist so you would bump it.
“Love you too, dumb-dumb” you smiled back and bumped his fist. “No more lies” you promised and he nodded, smiling.
“It’s fine” Steve said, getting up and kissing your head. “C’mon little Henderson, let’s go set everything up” Steve said, patting Dustin on his back.
“Wait, why do I have to go?” he complained, still getting up.
“Just be nice to your sister, man, she’s been through a lot” Steve complained.
“What about me? I have been through a lot too!” he said, dramatically as they went inside, leaving you and Eddie alone.
“Hey” you smiled back at Eddie.
“Hi, princess” he said, moving over to take Dustin’s place in front of you. “How are you feeling?”
“Not so bad” you sighed. “I still would have preferred not to discuss my sex life with my little brother but… it is what it is” you chuckled.
“Sorry about your sketchbook, love” he said, looking at it on the floor.
“It’s okay” you sighed, going through the damped pages. “It just… might take me a little longer to finish your surprise now” you said, sadly.
“Wait, is that… is that me?” he asked, feeling his heart flutter.
“It was supposed to be” you told him. “I mean, your D&D character” you muttered. “I… wanted to um… I was trying to get it right and I thought you m-might like it-”
“It’s perfect, princess” he smiled at you.
“It’s ruined, Eddie” you chuckled.
“Well, then I guess I need to get you another sketchbook, love” he said, grabbing it from you.
“You don’t have to get me one, Eddie” you smiled as he scootched closer to you.
“Jesus, Henderson would you just let me do something nice for you” he smiled, cupping your cheek with his hand.
“You do nothing but nice things for me, Munson” you smiled.
“What can I say? You bring out the best in me, sweetheart” he smiled back.
“Well, in that case, maybe you can do one more nice thing for me” you said, pulling him by his shirt, well, Steve’s shirt and he pulled you gently, brushing his thumb against your cheek.
“Gladly, princess” he said, smiling before he finally connected his lips with yours. He felt you smiling against his lips as you started deepening the kiss before you were rudely interrupted.
“Hey guys, pizza’s here- what the fuck?” you jumped apart when you heard Dustin’s voice again, with Lucas, Will, and Max standing next to him, trying not to laugh. “You two are together? I thought there were no more lies!”
“Would you believe me that this literally just happened, Henderson?”

Birthday Party |One-Shot|
Summary: Your parents decide to let you have a party. However, someone isn’t happy about you inviting everyone in senior year.
Warning; swearing, fluff
You took out different coloured flyers out of your bag and started passing them around to anyone from senior year.
As you walked into your classroom, you handed more out to your classmates, including Jeff from Hellfire.
“You’re inviting me to your birthday party?” Jeff asked, whilst reading the flyer.
“Yeah,” you replied, smiling. “My parents said to only invite seniors, but the rest of the Hellfire club are invited too if you guys want to come.”
“Thanks, I’ll tell them.”
By lunchtime, you had handed out your flyers to all the seniors, including the jocks and cheerleaders. You didn’t bank on them to come, as you weren’t popular. However, the head cheerleader and your neighbour, Chrissy enthusiastically told you, “I’d love to come to your party.”
“Great!” You replied, “I’ll see you on Sunday.”
At the Hellfire table, Jeff told everyone about your birthday party, and that everyone was invited.
“We got invited too?” Dustin asked.
“Yeah,” Jeff replied, while Eddie read the flyer, realising when it was.
“Isn’t that on the same day as that Jennifer Palmer’s Christmas party?”
“Wait, what?” Jeff asked, as he took back the flyer.
“Yeah, I overheard her bragging to her friends about how extravagant it’s gonna be.”
After hearing about your birthday party, Jennifer Palmer, your former friend from middle school, got pissed off.
“Who does that bitch think she is, having her party on the same day as mine?!” Jennifer ranted.
“I don’t think she deliberately did it on purpose,” Chrissy tried to assure her. “Besides, she can’t just move her birthday-“
“Well, I know that. She won’t need to,” Jennifer retorted, as she evilly smirked.
“What do you mean?”
By the time school finished, Jennifer had convinced the rest of the seniors to come to her party.
Your birthday had finally arrived. Your parents had decorated the community hall with balloons and streamers, as well as a banner for you.
You checked your watch, realising that it was fifteen minutes after the party had started. Your mother assured you that everyone will be there.
Another fifteen minutes later, you were sitting on the stage, playing with a balloon and rolling it on the stage until it popped. You sighed, before commenting that no one was coming. You were about to take down the decorations when you heard footsteps. You turned to find the Hellfire club, along with Lucas’ girlfriend, Max, and his little sister, Erica, entering the hall, as Jeff greeted you.
“Sorry we’re late,” Dustin apologised. “We had to make a stop and get you something.”
Dustin handed a birthday gift bag to you, as you thanked them.
You opened the bag, taking out a new notebook and a wool hat in your favourite colour. “We didn’t know what you liked, so we got the first things we could find,” Jeff explained.
You smiled, as you thanked them when your mother said, “Darling, I thought I told you to invite only seniors.”
“They don’t come separately mum,” you replied.
“It’s true,” Gareth said. “We’re like a pack of wolves.”
You snorted, as your mother sighed, before letting them stay when Steve Harrington, along with Robin Buckley, Nancy Wheeler and Fred Benson, as well as the marching band came in, before wishing you happy birthday. Not long after, your mother was gushing over Steve being at your birthday, which made you giggle.
You were chatting to the Hellfire club when you realised that their leader was absent. “So, where’s Eddie?” You asked, when they all looked at each other, unsure what to say about Eddie’s whereabouts.
Meanwhile, at Jennifer’s party, Eddie was selling to some of the rich seniors. He had decided to make a couple of deals and head to the store to buy you something before heading to your party.
He never told anyone, but he had a crush on you since the summer holidays, after you stuck up for him when he was accused of stealing at a store you worked in Starcourt before it was destroyed.
After he did couple of more deals, he was heading out when he overheard Chrissy and Jason talking about you.
“I wanted to go to her party instead,” Chrissy told Jason. “Why can’t we just go?”
“Why go to that loser’s party? What does she have to offer to us?” Jason retorted. “We were promised a yacht trip from Jennifer.”
A fuming Eddie was about to give the jock a piece of his mind when Jennifer approached the couple, “Are you guys having fun?!” She shouted over the loud music.
Chrissy was about to respond when Jason blurted, “Chris wants to leave. She’d rather go to that loser’s birthday party.”
“Will you stop calling her that?” Chrissy angrily asked. “You don’t know her. She’s really sweet.”
Jennifer scoffed, before telling them, “Look, it was inevitable that everyone was coming to my party.”
“Well, not everyone,” Chrissy muttered.
“Okay, it was inevitable that everyone cool was coming to my party,” Jennifer corrected herself. “I mean, what chance does she have with everyone coming to her party? Zero!”
“Just because you guys stopped being friends at high school after she got a part in the school play, it doesn’t mean that you can keep holding a grudge against her,” Chrissy scolded, causing Jennifer to gasp, before walking away.
Eddie growled, as he stormed through the heavily decorated hallway, bumping into people when he was knocked down by a jock, pushing him into a door, causing him to fall down, as the guy shouted at him, calling him a freak. He grunted, as he stood up, realising that he was in Jennifer’s basement. He looked around when he saw the circuit breaker, before smirking, as an idea popped into his head.
Back upstairs, everyone was still partying when the power went out.
Everyone groaned, as Jennifer asked, “What’s going on?”
Not long after, she made her way to the circuit breaker, finding out that the wires were cut. As she stormed back upstairs, she growled, “Who the fuck cut the fucking cables?!”
Everyone looked at each other with confusion, as Jennifer whined, “This wasn’t supposed to happen!”
“So, what do we do now?” One jock asked.
Everyone murmured when Chrissy spoke up, announcing that you were having a party at the community hall. “I’m going if anyone wants to tag along,” Chrissy said, as she started walking out.
Everyone looked around, before following her when Jennifer stammered, “W-wait, you can’t leave!”
“Well, you’ve got no electricity, so why should we stay?” Andy retorted, as he followed Jason.
Jennifer gasped, before threatening, “If you leave, you won’t be allowed to go on the yacht trip!”
Everyone ignored her, as they walked out, causing her to scream, while a giggling Eddie, who was hiding under the staircase, snuck out without being seen, as he made his way to his van.
Back at your party, you were sitting at the table, resting your chin on the palm of your hand, as you checked your watch. You had hoped that Eddie would be there. But hearing that he was Jennifer’s party, it had dampened your mood. You thought that seeing everyone else having fun would lift you up, but it didn’t.
Suddenly, you heard a hubbub coming from outside. You gaped, as the rest of the seniors came.
Chrissy waved at you, before rushing up to you and wished you happy birthday.
“Sorry I’m late,” she apologised. “I got dragged into going to Jennifer’s party.”
“So, how come you all came here instead?” You asked.
“Well, she had a power cut, so I suggested to everyone to come here. I hope that’s okay.”
You smiled, as you thanked her. “You didn’t have to,” you told her. “But thanks.”
You watched everyone enjoying themselves, as you headed outside when you bumped into someone.
“Sorry,” you heard a male voice apologise. You looked up, as you told the guy that it was okay when you realised who bumped into you.
It was Eddie.
“You came,” you happily spoke.
“Yeah, I’m sorry for not coming with the others,” he began to explain. “I was doing some deals before getting your gift. Thankfully, the store was still open when I got there.”
He lifted up a gift bag in front of you, handing it to you.
As you opened it up, you gasped, taking out a copy of The Lord of the Rings.
“Wow!” You exclaimed. “Eddie, thank you.”
“Well, I heard that you lost your copy, so I thought you wanted a new one.”
You happily gazed at him, before you abruptly wrapped your arms around his neck and hugged him, continuing to thank him.
Eddie smiled, as he hugged you back when you gave him a peck on the cheek.
After letting go of him, you had put the book back in the bag, as Eddie touched his cheek, smiling.
“Shall we go inside?” You asked, before turning around to head back to the hall when you felt a hand grabbing yours. You turned to find Eddie holding your hand. “Eddie?” You asked.
Eddie gulped, before beginning to hesitate, “I was wondering, um…”
“Yes?”
“Wouldyouliketogoonadatesometime?” Eddie quickly asked.
“Sorry, I didn’t catch that.”
Eddie sighed, before asking, “Would you like to go on a date sometime?”
There was a brief silence, before you smiled and replied, “I’d love to.”
Eddie grinned, before lifting your hand and kissed the back of it, making you giggle, thinking that Eddie asking you out was the best way to end your birthday.
As for Jennifer, she was sitting in the dark, with a beer cup in her hand, whinging about her Christmas party being ruined.

Wingman Nancy 5
hey @an-entity-i-think how does it feel being a psychic?
“If it matters at all, I hate this”, Nancy said.
“Noted”, Eddie replied.
“I don’t know if I’m on board with our mediator”, Robin said. “Was Argyle not available? Or...Will? Or Lucas?”
“I gotta say, I didn’t intend to spend my day like this either”, Hopper blew a puff of smoke as he stood on the porch of his cabin. “You said this was an emergency”, he pointed the statement to Eddie.
The four teens stood outside Hopper’s cabin, waiting to be let in.
“It is”, Steve said.
“I fail to see how teen relationship drama is any of my business.”
“Because relationship dynamics effect the group as a whole”, Eddie explained. “And if Nancy Wheeler falls apart because her heart is broken then your whole squadron of monster hunters is severely crippled!”
Hopper didn’t look impressed. Or convinced. “You’re not gonna get off my porch until I let you in, huh?”
Very reluctantly, Hopper allowed them inside. Everyone else was out and about on this lovely Saturday morning, leaving him alone. Well, alone until the Hormone Brigade invaded.
“So what exactly is the issue? And before you start, are you absolutely sure you don’t want Murray to weigh in?”
“No!”, Steve and Nancy yelled at once.
Hopper held his hands up and sat down in the well-used chair in his living room. Nancy took the other chair, Steve and Robin took the loveseat, Eddie sat on an ottoman.
It was silent for about thirty seconds as Hopper looked at each of them.
“You know I actually can’t help until I know what the problem is.”
Eddie looked to Nancy expectantly and she just glared at him. Steve bit his lip as he spoke up.
“It’s kind of...complicated.”
Hopper’s brow furrowed. “Complicated how?” He then looked to Nancy, then Robin. “Please tell me you didn’t let one of these duds knock you up?”
Eddie cackled so hard he fell backward off the ottoman and the others allowed themselves to smile. Somehow that issue seemed simpler than the real one. Robin let out a breath, feeling some tension already released.
“So um, you remember how Will uh, you remember how he told everyone that he’s...he’s into guys?”
Hopper nodded slowly.
“Well...surprise!”, Robin said weakly with the most pathetic jazz hands.
“Oh, oh okay then”, Hopper replied. “But what’s the got to do with....”, he trailed off when he looked at Nancy, who’s eyes were flitting from ceiling to floor to wall. “Ah, okay, well, now what do you-” He was about to ask Steve, only to follow Steve’s gaze to Eddie, who was looking right back at him like they were the only ones in the room.
Hopper let out a long breath and slouched in his chair a bit. “Right, that does make things a little...complicated.”
“That’s not really the issue here”, Nancy said. “Since we’re all...you know. It’s not a compatibility issue it’s just...baggage.”
“A lot of baggage”, Robin agreed.
“Can I get the short version?”, Hopper asked.
So Steve started the story with him and Nancy. He told Hopper how they had been dating, he thought they were happy, but then had a nasty breakup. Robin wanted to date Nancy but was having second thoughts because of how things ended between her and Steve. When the bare bones were explained, Hopper turned to Eddie.
“And what exactly is your horse in this race?”
“Me? I just wanna jump on Steve’s horse, sir.”
Steve tossed a throw pillow at Eddie so hard he fell back onto the floor again. “Eddie and I aren’t really, involved. But this is happening to our friends. We want to help. I just want Robin to know that I’m okay and I’m not against her dating Nancy.”
“You guys talked about it?”, Nancy asked.
“Yeah. Didn’t you talk to someone about me?”, Robin asked.
“I-we-”, Nancy glanced at Eddie. “That’s different. We had to make a plan.”
“Wait, you guys planned this?”, Steve looked to Eddie.
“Nancy thought she couldn’t make any moves on Robs while you were still single. And I happened to be available and very, very willing~”
“So you were thinking of Steve’s feelings”, Robin pressed. “I mean, this time you were.”
“I...”, Nancy turned her eyes to Steve. “I wasn’t thinking of how you would’ve felt, when I hooked up with Jonathan. I convinced myself you wouldn’t care, that you’d just go on to the next girl like you always did. I thought what we had wasn’t real because how could it be? Everything you said and I, I was sure you did it for other girls.”
“You were a serial dater, Steve”, Eddie added.
“Well Steve? What do you have to say about that?”, Hopper asked. The Harrington reputation got around.
“I meant everything I did with you Nancy. Yeah, a lot of it was just the usual boyfriend stuff and yeah I did things for other girls like, got ‘em flowers, or drove them around in my car, but isn’t a boyfriend supposed to do that?”
“A boyfriend is also supposed to know when his girlfriend is grieving.” Nancy’s eyes hardened.
“I knew that, that’s why I was trying to keep your mind off it.”
“I didn’t want to keep my mind off it! I wanted to think about it, wanted to do something about it. You just wanted to push everything down!”
“Nancy, it was over! If I had known that it was-that it was something that could come back, maybe I would’ve wanted to talk about it but it was supposed to be in the past!”
“But it wasn’t in the past for me. Especially when they were lying about Barb, I couldn’t let them get away with it. Steve, think about our friends now. If Max had died fighting Vecna and the government covered it up, would you have let them? Would you have just forgot about it?”
“Nancy....I didn’t understand back then what you were going through with Barb. And I’m sorry.”
Robin put a hand on Steve’s shoulder. He put his hand on top of hers and shared a smile with her.
“You have to promise me”, he said to Nancy, “That whatever you’re doing with my Robin is serious. You’re not just going for her because you’re experimenting, or trying to break out of a cookie-cutter life, or anything like that.”
“Steve, I never meant to hurt you-”
“But you did. You just came back after that tunnel shit and you and Jonathan were a thing. And I had to act like I was okay with it. Do you know what it’s like, watching someone you love with someone else?”
“Yeah”, Eddie, Robin, and Hopper said.
Nancy’s eyes were glistening a little. “I’m sorry. I’m sorry for disappearing on you like that, for not ending things cleanly, and...and for calling you bullshit. I feel like I see better now. Maybe it wouldn’t have worked out for us in the end, but you would’ve given it your all, wouldn’t you?”
“If you had let me, yeah”, Steve smiled.
Nancy gave a light laugh as she looked down at her lap, shaking her head. “Six kids and a winnebago.”
“I’m sorry, what?”, Robin’s eyes got wide.
“The hell does that mean?”, Eddie asked while Steve put his face in his hands.
“Please don’t tell them. I’ll never live it down.”
Hopper cleared his throat. “Seems like we’re close to finishing so let’s wrap this up. Steve and Nancy both apologized, so Robin? Anymore hang-ups?”
Robin held Steve’s hand, intertwining their fingers. “If he can forgive you after all that...well let’s just say his title ‘King of Second Chances’ is pulling a lot of weight here. If this reformed, prom king jock asshole says you’re worth the heartbreak, then yeah. No more hang-ups.”
“There was a compliment somewhere in there, I’m sure of it”, Steve said.
“So, I get a second chance?”, Nancy asked.
“Tuesday is discount movie day”, Robin beamed. “We could get a double feature.”
“And while the girls are away, the boys can play”, Eddie rubbed his hands together while looking at Steve.
“Oh I’m so glad this ended happily ever after. Now get out of my house”, Hopper pointed to the door.
----------------------------------------
l0st-strawberry explicitly said they were being a good boy so you guys get steddie’s date night
Steve checked the time. Robin was being picked up by Nancy right about now and Eddie was due to arrive any moment. He looked himself over in the mirror, hoping he didn’t come off as too ‘date-ready’. This was supposed to be a casual hangout between two buddies.
Except Steve was 60% sure Eddie was into him. Either that, or he was trying to learn his ‘jock language’ as Robin had called it. Helping him practice with Lucas, going out on jogs, flattering him about his muscles, it was totally out of character for Eddie.
But if he was trying to get on Steve’s good side....and if he was doing that because he liked him then...
There were the little touches too, small things he did that could just be friendly but....well Steve really hoped there was a ‘but’.
He heard the doorbell ring and checked himself over again. He was wearing a green polo and some jeans.
“Very simple, very casual”, he said to himself in the mirror. “You’ve got this Harrington.”
The bell rang again and he tore himself from the mirror to answer the door. He let Eddie in and they went right to the TV.
“Alright, on three, whip ‘em out”, Eddie said when they sat down on the couch.
Steve rolled his eyes at the wording, but on 3, pulled a movie from behind his back. They had agreed on an exchange, both picked a movie they wanted to share with the other.
“Question, why does it not have a cover?”, Steve asked. It was just a title.
“Because what I have here is an extremely rare bootleg. And I see you’ve picked a classic yourself.”
“Rock paper scissors for which we watch first?”
Steve ended up losing, so they were going to watch Eddie’s movie first.
“You go ahead and put it in, I’ll get the popcorn and drinks”, Steve said.
Since he was walking away, Eddie let himself stare at his very valuable assets before going to put the movie in and get it started. He could do this. He could be smooth and flirtatious and totally get Steve Harrington to fall in love with him.
Steve knew when someone’s eyes were on him and couldn’t help but smile to himself for his choice in jeans. “Beer or coke?”, he half-shouted from the kitchen.
“Coke!”, Eddie answered back.
Steve returned with a bowl of popcorn and two cokes. When he sat down, there was about a foot of space between him and Eddie. Eddie closed the space a little by putting his arm across the back of the couch. Every time, Steve took a sip and put his can back on the coffee table, he moved just the teensiest bit closer to Eddie.
“So this is a bootleg?”, Steve asked.
“Yeah. Got it off a guy when me and the boys were doin’ a gig one night. You can’t find this anywhere.”
“You like stuff like that? Rarities?”
“I wouldn’t call myself a collector by any means. But if I find something good and I think I’ll never see it again, I can’t help myself.”
Steve bit his lip. He wanted to be that for Eddie. Something he just couldn’t help himself around.
“You know, I’m kinda like that. When I see something good, I go for it.” Steve turned a little towards him.
“Oh yeah?”, Eddie grinned, any feigned interest in the movie completely gone now. “Do tell.”
“You know, sometimes I want a pair of shoes, I got for it. Or if I really want a position on a team, I go for it.”
“Got any relatable examples?”, Eddie asked, turning his own body towards Steve.
“Every time I’ve liked a girl, I asked her out. There was only one time I didn’t.”
Eddie swallowed. “What stopped you, Steve the Hair Harrington, from asking out a girl?”
“.....It wasn’t a girl.”
Eddie gulped again. “Shit.”
Steve met his eyes, trying to assess if that was a good ‘shit’ or a bad ‘shit’. Eddie could see he was trying to read him and smiled.
“Still not hearing a reason why you wouldn’t ask.”
Steve let out a breath and ran a hand through his hair like he had really been sweating Eddie’s reaction. Like Eddie would run out this house just because he liked guys.
“Well, even if I asked, I’m not sure he’d say yes. See, I still can’t tell which part of me he likes.”
“I mean, if he’s into guys, typically they’re into one specific part”, Eddie’s eyes drifted to Steve’s crotch before rocketing back to his face.
“Okay you perv, I mean my personality. Like, would he be into King Steve? Or is he more into the Steve I am now?”
“Are you still King Steve?”, Eddie asked.
“Not...entirely. But I still do things I did from back then. I work out and Robin calls me a meathead. I hang out with nerds but I can’t for the life of me get interested in Dungeons, no offense.”
“None taken”, Eddie shrugged. “We can’t all have taste.”
Steve rolled his eyes. “I’m saying, sometimes it feels like I haven’t changed. So how can I ask this guy out? What if he still thinks I’m that guy? What if he wants that guy?”
Eddie wanted to kiss the sadness right off his face. “Steve?”
“Yeah?”
“I want you. All of you.”
Steve felt his heart quicken. His arm rested against the back of the couch. “Even the me that goes for jogs at 6 in the morning?”
“I will be up at 9 to have breakfast with you.”
“And if I never, ever, ever get into that game with you guys?”
“I could think”, Eddie started while letting his fingers walk up Steve’s arm, “of some other games I’d like to play with you.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.”
Their knees were touching now and Eddie had walked his fingers up to Steve’s bicep. Eddie bit his lip. Then made his fingers tap dance on Steve’s skin while he scatted.
Steve giggle-snorted and then leaned into Eddie’s space. “You’re such a dork.”
“Hmm, but a cute dork, perhaps?”
“Cute, some might even say hot.”
“Now who would say that?”, Eddie grinned with a shake of his head.
“Eddie.”
“Hm?”
“Kiss me.”
“O-okay.”
Eddie closed the very short distance between them and kissed Steve, finally. The next thing he felt was Steve’s very strong hands on his waist.
“Damn”, he breathed out.
“Sorry”, Steve pulled back a little. “Too much? I’ve never-mmf.”
Eddie nipped any second guesses with a kiss. “Stevie baby, this is just the tip of the iceberg of what I wanna do to you.” He felt him give a little shiver and Eddie licked his lips. “You like when I call you baby?”
Yes, Steve liked it but he wasn’t gonna say that out loud so he just kissed him again. He also liked Eddie’s little promise. He wanted the whole iceberg, whatever that meant. Eddie pressed more into him and Steve let himself be pushed down onto the couch. Steve had been under girls a few times but typically he was the one on top. And even when they were, usually they were smaller than him. He’d never been under someone like Eddie, someone who was nearly the same size.
His weight, combined with Eddie’s hair falling over like a curtain and the kisses that never let up and Steve felt like he was drowning in the man and he never wanted to come up for air. Eddie’s knee came up a little between his legs and Steve couldn’t stop the way his hips jumped to meet Eddie’s, who let out a hiss of pleasure just as the phone began to ring.
“It’s just telemarketers. Ignore it”, Eddie said.
“At this hour? I doubt it. I should-”
“Stay here and be kissed by me?” Eddie gave his lips a peck. “Wait, I think I missed a spot.” He kissed him again and got a little bold, starting to kiss his jawline.
Steve let out a gasp and was halfway to letting Eddie’s lips find their way wherever they wanted when all the worst what-ifs came to mind. With a sigh, he pushed Eddie away and got up, jogging over to the phone before whoever it was hung up.
He picked up and heard Robin’s voice.
“Please tell me I just interrupted you and Eddie running a marathon.”
Steve took a moment to catch his breath. “You knew what might be happening when you called. By the way why are you calling? Your date with Nancy finished already?” He checked the time. The movie was sure to be done by now but would they have ended the date right after?
“Oh we’re finished alright.”
Steve frowned. “That doesn’t sound good. What happened?”
“Are you sure it’s more important than Eddie’s blue balls right now?”
He had the decency to blush. “Robin you’re way more important than Eddie’s balls.”
“Hey!”, Eddie looked up from the couch. “I heard that Harrington!”
With a broad smile, he turned to look at Eddie. “She’s more important than your dick too!”
“Steve, you have no idea how much that means to me.”
Robin didn’t sound right. Something really bad must’ve happened during her date. He turned his back on Eddie as he spoke again.
“I mean it. If you wanna talk I can send Eddie home and you can come. Or I’ll go to you.” He’d drop anything for Robin and hopefully Eddie would understand that.
“Your courting suitor won’t mind being booted?”
Once again, Steve turned around and saw Eddie, watching him with a dopey smile on his face.
“No, I don’t think he’ll mind “, he twirled the cord around his finger. “I’m like….85% sure he’s super into me and will let me get away with anything.”
“We can talk tomorrow. You know, when he’s not humping your leg.”
“First thing in the morning”, Steve promised. “Good night.”
“Night, Steve.”
Steve hung up and was able to give his full attention to Eddie, who was still staring at him.
“85% sure, huh?”
“Give or take a few percents”, Steve sat back down on the couch.
“So, what’re we gonna do now?”
“Well, your movie finished. Let’s start mine.”
It was all a cover, for what neither knew because as soon as it started playing, they were making out again. Then the movie ended and before Eddie could even suggested heading home, Steve was pulling him upstairs.
“It’s late. And I bet you’re tired, right?”
“Yeah, tired, yeah”, Eddie said as he found himself in Steve’s room. He then found himself in Steve’s bed, wearing Steve’s clothes, kissing Steve again. Kissing his beautiful, spotted neck again and pulling out sounds he only dreamed of.
Steve was a delicious combination of nervous but eager which paired great with Eddie’s eager but nervous energy. What started as not-so-innocent kissing lead to definitely-not-innocent handjobs and Eddie was pretty sure he died and went to heaven.
When morning came, the heaven thing still made more sense because where else would he wake up with his face buried in Steve’s hairy chest?
Steve took heaven away when he got up and had to go to Robin. But Eddie sucked it up and decided to seek out Nancy. If not to make sure she and Robin were fine, then to assure his and Steve’s alone time didn’t get interrupted again.
Part 7 (END)
I chose Hopper because he literally could not give a shit in any way or form. Everybody else they know would have an opinion or a bias.

Summary: Amelia is now facing new challenges within Hawkins. One being her having the miss her friend Tina's annual Halloween party. So to counter for what she thought would be a boring night, she stopped by a little birdie's house instead.
I are currently sitting inside your shared ride with Nancy Wheeler and Steve Harrington. I had the pleasure to have the whole back seat to myself, with my boots propped up onto the window opposite of your head. My baggy washed out jeans hanging from my ankles with my golden colored sweater tucked into my jeans with a brown belt.
“Steve, the more you complain about it and not work on it the more it’s going to suck.” I said to him after hearing him complain about his college essay for the past fifteen minutes.
“It’s not bad Steve, it just needs some rearranging.” Nancy reassured. “You just have to…” Nancy went onto this thing about how he can fix it but I truly did not care. They went onto something else about some dinner that they had to go to. Everything came to a halt when a roar of an engine stopped every word that was about to be exchanged. Both Nancy and Steve stepped out of the car to have a look at the noise while I only peered out of the window. We all saw a charged blue Camaro drive by us and parked. Our eyes still followed to see who owned it. My eyes made contact with the California plate on the back of it.
“What are the odds..” I laughed, I’m kinda happy another Cali kid is here. Maybe I can make a new friend. Two people got out of the car, a dude wearing denim on denim with curly hair styled into a mullet and a twelve year old with red hair with a skateboard. They both looked familiar. But then I saw it, it was the missing earring to my set that I had when I left in California. I thought it fell out when I was packing my bags.
“No fucking way…” I said in shock. ‘Out of every town in this country, you just had to show up here…’
“Shit.”
You gotta be fucking kidding me. Out of every damn state that those asswhips could pick. They pick my state. Indi-fucking-ana. I can’t handle this. I'm gonna throw up. I don’t have the energy to go find a new place to live. I can’t let any of them see me. I can’t live through this. This has to be some sort of nightmare. A really bad nightmare. God I didn’t change my last name either. Everyone is going to know. He’s going to figure it out and I’ll be thrown in front of a flippin bus. What am I going to do?
“Hey!” An all to perky Tina jumped up at me while I was at my locker. “How are you Amy?”
God, here it begins.
“What’s up…” My voice sounds frazzled, get it together. “I’m fine. What do you need?”
“Well as you know by now there is a new hot topic on campus.” Tina grinned.
“Yeahh.” I answered clearly to most with no enthusiasm, but not to Tina. “What does he have to do with me?”
“Well. I was hoping you could hook me up with your cousin!”
“Cousin? No he is not my cousin, we are no were near related.”
“Really?” She seemed not to believe me. “You guys just look really similar, I mean if you never took your sunglasses off I’d think you were him.” She obviously meant it as a joke. I can tell by the light giggle that she gave after making her comment.
“Well we’re not so I can’t help you there.” I stated blankly to her. “Hope you’re able to get in his pants.” I tried to end the conversation there but I was stopped.
“Hey wait!” I turned back to face Tina, who had pulled out an orange slip of paper. “Here you're invited, hope you can make it.” She said before skipping away to her next class. I looked down at the flier to see ‘ Let’s get sheet faced’ printed in bold on it. I laugh a bit at the play on words before folding it and putting it in my pocket. ‘I am skipping school today’ I made my way to the back exit of the school when a light force knocked me a few steps back.
“Oh my god! I am so sorry, that was completely my fault. Please don’t yell at me, I’m just trying to get to chem.” A familiar frantic voice called out to me. Robin Buckley.
“Robin, it’s okay.” I reassured her.
“Are you sure? Cause listen if that scary dude is related to you please don’t send him my way.” She begged.
I huffed. “I’m not related to him, Robin, don’t worry. I’m playing hooky, I’ll catch ya later… hopefully?” I say. I start walking past her to the free world from Hawkins High School
“Yeah, to-totally.” The faint voice of Robin can be heard from the closing doors.
…
Halloween Night: Friday 31, 1984
“Listen Tina, I can’t make it.” I told the bummed girl over that phone. “I’m sorry, I’ll come to the next party you throw.” I reassured her.
“But why are you flaking out on the Halloween bash! You never miss this specific party in the few years that I have known you.” That is true. Once you went to Tina’s annual halloween party you’ve never missed it. But that is changing this year. Being that your twin brother and step sister now live here, there is going to be a lot more flaking then just at the halloween party.
“Tina I told you, I’m taking Will trick or treating with his friends tonight.” You told her once again. “We can do a sleepover some time next week… okay.”
“Okay.” I heard her sigh, “I see ya around.”
“See ya later Tina.” I hung up the yellow landline. I walk over to the livingroom to see Will fixing his ghostbusters costume.
“I still can’t believe no one else dressed up this year.” Will said sadly, “Everyone dressed up last year.”
“It’s okay Will, they just think they're too cool to dress up.” I reassured the small kid. In the back you can hear Bob explaining to Johnathan how the camera works when Joyce came behind Will with his, whatever it is, backpack for his costume.
“Listen, stay close to your brother and Amy, and you get a bad feeling just tell them so you can come straight home.” Joyce told him. “You promise.” Will gave her a thumbs up. “Okay.”
“You ready to rock and roll, Will the wise.” I smiled down at him.
“Be safe.” Joyce shouted out to us, mainly to Will. We all got into the car. Jonathan driving, Will in the passenger seat, and with me in the back. We start to make our way over to Mike’s neighborhood.
“I just don’t get what she sees in him.” Jonathan says all of a sudden.
“What?” Will answered in utter confusion.
“Bob.”
“At least he doesn’t treat me differently.” Will said. “I can’t even go trick or treating by myself. It’s lame.”
“What, you think me and Johnathan are lame?” I said, trying to lighten his mood.
“No, but it’s not like Nancy is coming to watch over Mike. You know?” Jonathan just sighs. He looks at me from the mirror. I give him the same look. We both feel bad for the kid, but what are we gonna do? I don’t want anything to happen to Will. Sooner than later we are at Mike’s front yard. Will makes his way to get out till Johnathan stops him.
“Hey.” Jonathan says to Will.
“Yeah.” He answers.
“If I let you go by yourself, will you promise to stay in the neighborhood.” Johnathan suggested.
“Yeah.” Will’s mood brightened up. “Yeah-Yeah, totally.”
“And be back at Mike’s by 9:00.” Jonathan told him.
“9:30?” Will tried to persuade him. “9:00.” Jonathan said again.”Deal?” “Yeah deal.” Will rushes out of the car to go to his friends.
“Will.” Jonathan stops him from leaving the car to hand him the camera. “Don’t let any of your spazzy friends touch this.” Will laughed and took the camera to go over to his friends.
“You’re a good brother John.” I smiled at him. “I’ll see ya later.” As is tried to get out of the car but Jonathan stopped me.
“Wait where are you going?”
“I don't know, I’ll probably walk around the neighborhood.” I said. “I got a friend down that street.”
“You’re really not going to Tina’s party?” He was bewildered by this.
“Yeah John, I’m really not going.”
“But you love Tina’s parties.” He simply stated.
“Well I’m not feeling it this year.” I told him.
“Bullshit.” He called. “Why aren’t you going?”
“I just don’t want to go.” I’m sticking to this. “I have someone I can hang out with, plus I’ll be close to Will if something happens.” John and I just stare at each other for a minute.
“Okay.” He sighed. “But if Nancy gets upset that you’re not there, I’m not taking the heat.”
“Okay.” I smiled at him as I got out of the car. I walked my way over to where the boys were messing around as John left for Tina's party. “Okay turd-nuggets.” I begin.
“Really, what are you twelve?” Mike sassed.
“And are you a lollipop with that stick up your ass?” I sassed back to him, I start back up were I was interrupted. “I will be down that street with a friend, I will be back her at 8:45 to make sure you guys are fine. Okay?”
A chorus of “Okay’s” filled the air.
“Great! See you shit-heads later.” I walk off a familiar bird’s house. I walk up the stairs to the front door and give it a quick knock. I wait until the door opens.
“Amelia?” Robin says confused. “What are you doing here?”
“ I was hoping we could hang out for a bit.” I suggested. “Is that okay?”
“Oh! It’s completely fine!” She exclaimed, “I just thought you'd be at some party.”
“I didn’t feel like partying tonight, ya know.” I made my way into her house.
…
Tina’s Halloween Party: Friday 31, 1984
The party was in full swing. TP covering the lights of every room. Alcohol filling the mouths and noses of every teenager on the property. Music blasting as loud as physically possible. Someone throwing up in the front yard. The smell of weed coming from the master bedroom with each new blunt that was lit. The sound of a name being chanted in the backyard. A keg stand can be seen with an all too familiar blonde on top, like always.
“Billy! Billy! Billy! Billy! Billy! Billy! Billy! Billy! Billy! Billy!” Is chanting through the crowd as the new keg king came down from his stand. Spitting out that remaining beer from his mouth.
“That’s how you do it Hawkins! That’s how you do it!” Billy yelled. The statement “We have a new keg king, ladies and gentleman!” Being shouted along as Billy made his way into the house. His senses are filled with the atmosphere of the room. Till he sees a certain fallen king with his princess.
“Got ourselves a new keg king Harrington.” Tommy boasted.
“Yeah, eat it Harrington!” Steve looked onto the, now new, keg king. Waiting for something to happen.
“What’s wrong Harrington? Your little dyke is not here to save you.” Tommy fake whined to him. As a way to taunt him. Tommy was about to keep laughing when he felt beer splash over his shoulder. “What the? What the hell Tina?!”
“Don’t call her that!” Tina shouted at him “If she was here she’d leave you crying.”, too drunk to keep dealing with him but still wanting to defend her friend. Nancy, now done with the testerone in front of her, quickly left to get something stronger to drink. Tommy is now pissed that he is covered in pungent drink.
“Go worry about yourself before you come at me guys.” Was all Steve said then walking away from the other teenage boys. Staring off at the brunette as he went after his girlfriend.
Billy turned himself around to face Tommy. “How were you talking about that got Tina mad?” He asked, genuinely curious about the lesbian that was not present tonight at the party of the semester.
“Oh. Just some lesbo that hangs with Harrington.” Tommy retorted, making it seem like she isn’t worth Billy’s time. “She can be a fucking asshole.”
…
Laughter filled the Buckley house this Halloween. The two girls conversed with one another for the past few hours. Being comfortable with one another knowing how the other truly is.
“Wait.” Robin kept laughing. “You got caught kissing Heather Halloway from her bedroom window then proceeded to fall from the second story?!”
“Yeaah, I’m not welcomed over at the Holloway house any more.” I giggled.
“Jeez, you’ve done more than I thought.” Robin smiled. “I’m still scared to change in the girls locker room.”
“Hey I’m the town lesbo.” I calmly giggled.
We fell into comfortable silence, “Hey, I wanna ask you something?” Robin asked.
“Sure.” I said, waiting for her question.
“What was California like?” I sat silent for a second. Due to my silence Robin thought she had hit a nerve. “If you don’t want to talk about it you don’t have to!”
“It’s okay, I just haven't talked with anyone about California.” I reassured her. “ It was like a constant sunset everyday…” I started.
“The weather was always perfect. And the beaches, oh my god the beaches. They were always clear. I lived in Santa Monica, very touristy but beautiful.” I was happy I could finally talk about my home again. “Ugh that sand was so soft under your toes when you walked. And there was this boardwalk that my mom took me and my brother to all that time-”
“You have a brother?” Robin asked curiously.I stopped. ‘No I messed up’.
“Yeah.” I frowned.
“Do- Do you miss him?” Robin asked.
“Everyday… but I hope he’s living the California dream as you guys would say.” I covered my truth with a lie. Not wanting her to know that my brother is here in Hawkins.
“Well from how to describe California, it sounds beautiful.” She reassured me.
I stared back at her with a smile. “Thanks Robin.” Silence filled the room again. Comfortable silence. I liked being around Robin, even with her nervous attitude, she was truly one of a kind. I was about to say something when I glanced at the clock of the wall to find it was close to the time I told the boys I would meet them.
“I gotta go.” I sighed disappointedly, “But I’d love to spend more time together.” I am hoping her answer is a yes.
“Yeah, I would love that! Well not like love-love, but do love being around you. Not in like a couple ways cause that would be weird since we’re just friends. Yaaa know.” She panicked.
“I know Rob.” I smirked, “I’ll see you at school later.”
As we said our goodbyes, I made my way down the street to see the boys. I saw the familiar ghostbuster’s suits from where I was. I could tell that they picked someone up along the way to go trick or treating with. ‘How cute, they made a new friend’. There were two stragglers in the back of the group, by the hair cuts I could tell that it was Mike and Will. I did a small jog over to them.
“Hey shit-heads!” I yelled to them, all their heads slowly turning to me as I made my way over to them. “Did you guys get anything good?”
“What Amy, why are you here?” Mike complained.
“Cause it is close to 9:00 and I want to check on you guys, is that so bad?”
“Yes.” He answered.
“Okay you know what, you're a little shit.” I said to him, “Besides who’s your new?... friend…”
Fuck.
It appears that we have the same looks on our faces. I stared at Max. She stared back at me.
“Shit…” I accidently said out loud.
“Do you know Max, Amy?” Lucas asked me.
I took a deep breath in. “No.” I said simply. “Listen, hit up a few more houses, I’ll come get you in a minute.”
“Where are you-” Dustin started.
“I need a minute guys!” I shouted at them, walking over to Mike’s front yard. Dammit, why. Why! The last person I want to see is with the kids I watch. Shit. This is bad. She can’t tell Niel. No, she can’t tell Billy. Would they even believe her if she told them? Shit, what do I do? I was taken out of my head when a very upset Mike walked by me. I was about to ask him if he was okay when I heard a commotion in the street. I look over to see Will being picked on by some older boys.
“Hey! What the hell are you doing!” I shout at them as I run over to them. “Get back here you fuck heads!” They ran away the minute I had my eyes set on them. Will was pushed to the ground, dropping his candy and camera. I kneel down to him, “Hey Will, are you okay?” I calmly asked him. “Did they hurt you?” I kept asking. Will was not responding what so ever. He just kept looking up at the sky, like something was looking at him. “Will?... Will!” He started to get up slowly, still not answering me. He started to move slowly. Till he ran straight to the back of Mike’s house. “Will!” I shouted after him, grabbing his candy and camera. The other apparently heard me since I heard multiple pairs of feet behind me. I made my way down some brick stairs to find Mike with Will hiding behind a wall.
“Will! I couldn’t find you.” Mike panicked with worry. “I heard Amy shouting then I couldn’t find you, are you hurt?” Due to Will’s heavy breathing I could tell what was up.
“Holy shit!” Dustin yelled.
I kneeled down to his level looking him in the eyes. “Did you have another episode Will?” He was still looking around like a scared cat. “I’m gonna get you home, okay buddy.” Mike made his way to help Will up. When others tried to help he called them off. Blocking off the rest of us to take Will with him.
“Mike?” Dustin tried.
“Keep trick or treating, I’m bored anyways.” He started taking Will with him.
“What’s wrong with him?” Max asked, looking to us for an answer. The boys and I were silent, nothing to say.
“It’s something you don’t have to worry about.” I told her. “Dustin, Lucas go up there for a minute. I need to talk with her.”
“What! Why?” They both started to complain.
“I don’t want to hear it. Go!” I hardly ever get stern with them, but when I do I hope they know I mean what I say. They both, begrudgingly, made their way up the stairs. I turn myself back to Max.
“Max.”
“Amelia.”
“I go by Amy now…” Well this is awkward.
“What did you want?” She asked me, quit literally over me already.
“You can’t tell Billy I’m here or anyone.” I told her.
“What? Why not?” She was baffled. “Do you not know how much Billy misses you?”
“No Max I don’t, because I’ve been here for the past 4 years.” I stated. “Just please don’t tell him, and don’t tell anyone that we’re related. Got that.”
“Yes.”
“Good. As far as me and you go, we just met. Okay?”
“Okay.” She said a bit quietly. “Now let’s get you back up there with your friends so you can enjoy the rest of the night.” I take her back up to Dustin and Lucas. And since Johnathan isn’t here by 9:00, looks like I’m stuck here.
Jeez, the next month is gonna be a shit show. Max knows I’m here now. Johnathan is nowhere in sight. On top of that my twin brother is here too. Hopefully this can’t get any worse than it already is.
Man. I was so wrong about that…
Hello! I hope you enjoyed this part of the story! Also so sorry for my absents, I know you guys are wanting fics/stories. All I ask is that you be patient with me, thank you. If you have any kind of feed back I would love to hear it. And please tell me what you think of Robin and Amelia's interactions together.
I always love good feedback!
Thank you for reading and have a great Christmas!

“So, he didn’t even want to spend the morning with you? The morning after he ‘asked you out’?” Robin hesitantly asks as she goes to take another bite of her sandwich. Her look of disbelief leaves a bitter taste in your mouth as the two of you lounge on the quad after your morning class. The cool October air nips at your cheeks while the two of you desperately try to enjoy the last sunny days before the approaching cold front settles.
“We both had other plans,” you shrug and drop some trail mix in your mouth, “He had to go with Johnathan to pick up Nancy from the airport, and I wanted to catch up with my old roommates”. Robin throws a grape at you in disgust from watching you speak with your mouth full.
“And Argyle doesn’t seem to be the only thing rubbing off on you. You’re picking up his gross habits now- not even a week into puppy love either,” she says with a knowing look.
“Robin,” you hiss, eyes darting around to make sure no one over heard. However, everyone is too preoccupied rushing to their next meeting or enjoying one of the last nice days of the semester.
Taking a sip of her fountain drink, Robin scrunches her face while swallowing. “So,” she uncomfortably begins, “you two are a thing? What does that even mean?”
“We’re together- obviously,” you respond, almost snippy with Robin’s confusion.
Robin fiddles with her lunch tote before she starts to pack up her belongings. “Not obvious. A thing is way too casual of a label. And besides, think about what you two were doing before he asked,” her voice sends shivers through you from her serious tone, “Argyle hasn’t dated anyone seriously in like- actually, I don’t know how long. That’s how long it’s been. Do you think he just meant it in a casual way? Friends with benefits, maybe?”
Robin uncrosses her legs and stands up, blocking the sun as she looks down at you. Her features are hardly recognizable from the shadow casting across her face. “I’m happy for you, really. Just talk to Argyle about what you guys actually are, okay? I know how much he means to you, and I don’t want to see you get hurt”. She offers her hand to help you up with a faint smile.
Her words constrict your throat and sit heavy in your heart. Hastily grabbing your bag, you stand up on your own and send a tight smile to your friend. Pin pricks sting your skin when you catch a glimpse of Robin’s hurt expression.
“No time like the present then, right?” you force out. Doubt floods your system when Robin casts you a sympathetic smile. She couldn’t be right. Argyle held you like you were the most important person in the world this weekend. As if he was trying to commit the night to memory.
“Let me know how it goes, yeah,” she expresses while placing a hand on your shoulder to send comforting waves to try to ease you. “I’m here for you,” Robin drops her hand and nods to the campus center. “What’s the plan?”
“I’m pretty sure Argyle finishes at one, so I’m going to try to catch him before he heads off campus. Save me a seat, okay,” you shout, joining the crowd of students heading over to the academic buildings.
Your heart pangs with every step you take closer to the psych building. A whirlwind of anxious thoughts clouds your mind as the entrance approaches. Argyle would have said casual if that’s what he wanted, right? Tears threaten to kiss your cheeks with a tingle of anticipation, waiting for bad news to swing down.
Stepping onto the first stair, you slide onto the staircase rail to wait for your boy. The sea of chatter around you only stirs your nerves in a painful twist. Everyone looks so happy and at ease. Birds chirp in the distance with the hourly bell toll bringing a new flurry of excitement as students and faculty rush down the stairs. Your nervous gaze flits from eager face to excited expression as you try to spot Argyle in the moving mass. The knot in your stomach hardens with every passerby.
Focused on your search, a sudden force tumbles into you with a surprise force. The body clings to your side as a head presses against your neck. Nearly about to tell off the creep, a familiar smell of pine wood paired with aloe shampoo eases your pounding heart. “What a lovely surprise, honey,” Argyle hums into your neck, “Wasn’t expecting to see you here. Don’t you have a lecture this hour?”
Argyle pulls his head from your neck to see you better and the small pout forming on your lips drives him mad. His mind feels hazy when your watery eyes shyly meet his. Argyle raises a hand to rubs your arm, “What’re you up to over here, honey?”
“Can I come over tonight? I have something on my mind that I wanted to run by you,” you breathe out. Argyle beams at you before placing a chaste kiss to your cheek like he always does.
“Course you can. We can have a night in if you want,” Argyle suggests. Excitement radiates in him, and he rests his hand on your upper thigh. He lightly bounces on his toes in eagerness for your lectures to end the day, so he can keep you all to himself for the night. Never in his lifetime did Argyle think you would be so forward. He can’t get enough of it. “I’ll see you after class, alright? I’ll have some food ready for you, so just come over after,” he promises while helping you slide off the staircase rail.
His touch sends you into a flurry as his words blanket you with reassurance. “Yeah, sounds perfect. I’ll see you later,” you take his lingering hand and give it a squeeze before setting off to class. See? Clearly nothing to worry about.
You weave between students to haul across campus to make it to your lecture in the humanities building. Even though Argyle’s words eased the gnawing nerves growing in you, you can’t help but reflect on Robin’s concerns. Was it so odd that Argyle wanted to date you? Or was it just because he hadn’t dated anyone in so long? You make a sour face unaware of the slightly put off expressions thrown your way as you open the entrance door. Shaking your head, you quickly head over to the first floor lecture hall and quietly sneak into the multilevel space. Each row filled with vaguely interested students writing along to the professor’s animated voice as you scan each riser for Robin. Her hand raises to subtly wave you up to the upper row, and you carefully head up the side stairs to join her.
When you sit down in the seat to her right, a note with Robin’s familiar scribble awaits you on the desk. You hastily grab your notebook and pencil bag before peering up at the lecture stand. The professor’s voice echoes in the hall as she shares a side tangent. Perfectly consumed by her thoughts. You focus on Robin’s note and cover your desk space from view with your pencil pouch.
How did it go?
Haven’t had the talk, yet. But, he’s going to order something for when I come over after I finish the day. A night in sounds perfect.
I have to hand it to him- that’s pretty cute. Very boyfriend material. *Wags eyebrows at you*
You did not just put a stage action in your note. Take it back.
I’m a playwright major, sue me. *Stick tongue out at you*
You have to bite down on your knuckles to silence the fit of laughter tickling you. Settling your seat, you redirect your attention to the ongoing discussion on rhetorical tools and their uses. The silent hall fills with pen scratches and the occasional snore, but a small smile grows on your face as you bounce your leg. Your eyes dart to the wall above the front chalkboards. Just a little longer until you can settle your unease once and for all.
However, you can’t help but hesitate when you raise your hand to knock on the chipped door to apartment 42C after your classes for the day. Come on, there’s nothing to worry about. You try to hype yourself up to announce your presence to the residents, but you teeter on the edge. It’s as if a string is tied to your wrist tugs your arm bag everytime you gather enough courage.
“Stop shitting your pants in front of my apartment,” a voice laughs behind you.
“Fuck,” you shout and whip around in a tizzy.
Nancy and Johnathan look at you with a mix of mild amusement and confusion. Your heart races from the unexpected appearance of your friends as embarrassment stings your cheeks. Leaning against the door, your chest rapidly rises and falls. As you open your mouth to somehow explain what you were doing, the door swings open and startles you with a stab to the heart when you start to fall backwards.
“Jesus Christ,” you exclaim while trying to catch yourself. Your sweaty palms slip past the door frame, and you squeeze your eyes shut in anticipation of the wooden floor. The terrifying moments of free fall now come though as you’re carefully embraced by a warm hold.
“Nope. Just Argyle, honey,” he chuckles.
Slowly fluttering your eyes open, you crane your head upward to be met with Argyle’s lazy smile. “I wish you were Jesus Christ. I’d be able to die of embarrassment in peace then,” you huff and push out of his hold. Shoving past him, you make your way into the living room and fall onto the beat up couch directly in front of the entrance. The faded off white, dry walls are covered from floor to ceiling with scattered tour posters and polaroids. A string of burnt out holiday lights decorate the molding with a fresh line wrapped around it and the three windows that make up the far wall. Sitting on a stack of milk carts past the homemade coffee table in the middle of the room, a tube tv teeters with its warped entni. The sound of your friend’s laughter fills the room with a soft ambience as you try to suffocate yourself with a pillow.
“Nice to see you again,” Nancy calls from the kitchen in the next room over.
You groan in response hoping Nancy will understand as you shift to your side and shrink into the couch’s backing. Hidden from the world, you try to start to relax for the evening. Your heart beat slows as you release the tension from your shoulders. Slowly the muscles in your face unscrunch themselves and your jaw slackens. Everything feels calm.
Until a body sits on the couch and leans into your back, pushing you further into the couch. You wrestle your arm free from being pinned and playfully hit the body. Your voice muffled by fabric, you yell, “You’re an asshole, Argyle”.
“Kinda offended you thought of me first to insult,” Argyle scoots forward with a laugh. “Want some food now? The couple should be leaving soon. Got dinner reservations somewhere,” he explains while trailing his fingers up your arm and lightly squeezing your shoulder. How he said ‘the couple’ makes you freeze under his touch. As if they were different from you and Argyle. As if they were actually together.
Argyle couldn’t quite figure out what was going on with you. Over the weekend, time with you left him in a prolonged state of bliss. Earlier today, it seemed like you were jittery with anticipation to see him again. Now? Now, it feels as if he did something wrong. The back of his head tingles as his face bunches together in concern while taking in your shy figure.
“What’s wrong, honey,” Argyle mumbles while rubbing your arm. His stomach stings while waiting for your response.
It takes a minute for you to decide if you want to have this conversation while Nancy and Jonathan are still home. Your churning emotions make you spit out your doubts, “What are we?” Your voice wavers as you pick at the pilling fabric. Distant laughter from the kitchen makes you sink further into yourself.
Argyle can’t help but feel a bit taken aback. Gently pulling your shoulder so you face him, Argyle’s heart drops at how worked up you look. With his other hand, he smoothes out the wrinkles on your forehead with a light touch and thumbs your pouty lip. Argyle softly clarifies, “We’re seeing each other. What brought this up?”
Looking up at Argyle’s concerned expression, you ease into the couch as your muscles relax from their tense hold. “Can you just hold me tonight?” you quietly ask, almost afraid it was too much to ask.
The already heavy feeling sitting poorly in Argyle shatters inside him when you look at him so nervous to even ask for your best friend’s comfort. “Of course I can, honey,” Argyle lovingly pats your head and thumbs your hairline, “We don’t have to do anything you do want to and vice versa. How about I grab our food and put on a movie for background noise, hm?” At the sight of your little nod, he bends over to press a sweet kiss just above your eyebrow.
Another on your eyelid.
To the tip of your nose.
And finally gracing your cupid’s bow.
His featherlight touches tickle you in glee, and you can’t help lightly laugh at the sensation. When Argyle leaves you with one more squeeze to the shoulder, you sink further into content. A small smile blooms onto your face. The sound of city life hums behind the curtained windows as street lights paint the fabric with blurry patterns. Argyle’s faint humming can be heard through the doorway as cars pass on the streets below. Quiet footsteps creep behind you as the couch’s back shifts from new pressure.
“We’ll be back later tonight, but let us know if we can get you anything. You can just call Mezcal’s,” Nancy softly says.
“I wouldn’t worry too much about whatever’s stressing you out. You’re in semi safe hands with Argyle,” Jonathan jokes with a shake in his shoulders.
“Thanks you guys,” you push up to give both of your friends a hug, “Now hurry up and get out of here. Go have fun. I’ll have to steal you later, Nancy. You, me, and Robin need to catch up”.
“Have a good night, guys,” Argyle hollers from the kitchen. With the click of the door, your plans are set for the evening.
42C has always had a welcoming warmth when you visited, but it now sits differently inside you. Once banging on the door, yelling up at the cracked windows for one of the boys to open up, you now feel like it’s a home of your own. Your spare windbreaker sits on the coat rack. Extra snacks that you bought and dropped off to fill the odd empty spot in the rickety cupboard. A faded photo of you and your entire friend group beams at you from the side table on the couch end. Over the course of a year, you have pseudo signed the lease for the apartment.
“Alright, got a meat lover’s pizza and a baked white sauce ziti from Surfer Boy,” Argyle announces and sets your food on the coffee table with a goofy flourish. “Whaddaya want to drink?”
“What’re options?” you hum with a lazy smile.
“You probably know better than me, honey. You and Jonathan were the last to pick up mixers,” Argyle scratches the back of his head and shuffles back to the kitchen.
“Just a ginger ale then, if you don’t have anything new,” you shout back. You sit up and cross your legs on the cushions. Setting three slices and a scoop of pasta on one plate, you take the other plate and dish yourself some college comfort food.
“So,” Argyle grunts, sitting down across from you, your legs tangle across the couch like second nature, “Gonna tell me what’s going through that head of your’s?” He hands you a plastic cup of soda and nudges you lightly with his leg as he takes his plate.
You swallow a bite of pasta and wash it down with a glug of pop. The carbonation hits hard and stings the back of your throat. “I don’t know to be honest. It’s been a bit since I’ve been with someone, and I guess I needed reassurance,” you slowly share.
“Well, I am more than happy to give you that in any way you’d like,” Argyle shoots you a cheeky wink while taking a bite of pizza. “No, but seriously,” he swallows his mouthful, “You’re the most important person I have in my life. Don’t tell Johnathan that, alright? Stays between you and me”. Argyle puts his plate on the coffee table before resting his hands on your knees. “Anyways, I just wanted to remind you of that. Regardless of relationship, I want us to feel like nothing’s changed in the way we act around each other. I couldn’t bear it if I hurt you or overstepped, because of a lapse of communication or an unknowing emotional block. There’s nothing to force or hide, alright?”
“Thanks, Argyle.” you murmur. His tender gaze makes your cheeks flush, and you focus on picking your pasta to hide your smile. Absolutely nothing to worry about. “How are you feeling?” you genuinely ask.
“I’m excited,” Argyle nearly jumps out of his seat, “Like you are- fuck, you are just the most amazing person in the world to me. I’m floored that you ever agreed, and there’s not a single person I trust more than you. Are you kidding me, baby? You’re a showstopper, and you get me. It’s so nice to know that I can just call you and feel safe in your arms”.
Argyle launches himself into your lap and presses his face against your lower stomach. His unexpected movement jostles you and panic shoots your stomach while trying to balance your plate.
“Argyle,” you chuckle as he nuzzles closer to you. His amber eyes peer up at you past a frizzy, curtain of hair that tickles your warm skin. “I’m excited too,” you voice.
Your soft gaze makes Argyle’s mind hazy as a dopey smile widens across his face. Even nights like these where intimacy is shared with laughter and vulnerable thoughts make him tingle. Unable to contain his energy, Argyle nips at your waistband and reels from how your breath hitches.
“Still wanna watch a movie? Or do you wanna stay like this?” Argyle offers.
“How about some music? I have my Walkman in my bag,” you suggest.
“Depends on what you’re listening to,” Argyle squints his eyes at you. It’s not that he doesn’t like your music, but he’d much rather sit in silence and make you giggle than listen to some Top 100 at the moment.
“The Smiths. And I don’t even want to hear it, okay,” you lightly tap his head when Argyle groans. The vibrations tickle you lightly. “It’s the closest music or background noise we’ve got without having to get up and put something on”.
Holding your plate and fork into one hand, you grab your bag to rummage around for your cassette player. Slowly being pulled by gravity, you hardly notice just how much you’re leaning off the couch to try to look into the bag until a pair of hands hold your waist firmly to the seat cushions. Your heart beats harder sending a rush of blood to your ears as your lungs constrict from the straining position. Pulling out the player, you shuffle back onto the couch and click play. Morissey’s voice and the warm guitar trills blanket the apartment in wistful relaxation.
“Feed me?” Argyle asks with a pleading look.
“You’re awful, Argyle,” you laugh, but indulge his slothful soul. You reach over to grab a slice of his pizza with much resistance from Argyle’s dead weight laying on you.
His fingertips gently squeeze you in thanks after taking a bite from your hand and grabbing the slice with one of his own. The evening is spent lounging in each other’s embrace. Legs tangled in a heap. Quiet voices sometimes break over the Walkman. A night of reassurance and devotion to fill your heart with warmth.

Shying Away
A/n: I hope I did well on this for you! I haven’t written in a while! Also I love the idea!
Pairing: Robin Buckley x fem!reader
Summary: Steve helps you out with your longing for Robin to notice you
Warnings: fluff,heartache,cussing, sexual tension,Steve being Steve,smut
“You know staring won’t do anything you know that right?” You turn around seeing Steve leaning against the wall.
You sigh and drop your gaze from Robin and Vickie who are currently talking about something important.
“There’s nothing wrong with admiring someone Steve. You should know you do it all the time with Nancy.” You grab a hand full of movies and start putting them back onto the shelves.
“I can help you out you know, with admitting your feelings for robin.”
You shrug. “I don’t know Steve what if she doesn’t like me and what if I ruin our friendship?”
Steve sighs before putting a movie on the shelf. “You won’t I promise and look Vickie just left it’s worth a shot right now.”
“Fine.” You walk over to robin smiling. Before you could get a word in she speaks. “We’re going on a date! Okay okay, can you believe it?! Holy shit!”
Your smile falls from your face but not wanting robin to notice you put on a fake smile for her. “I’m really happy for you robin but I am off so I’ll talk to you later.”
You grab your stuff behind the counter and walk out getting into your car and slamming the door.
“Is she okay?” Robin looks at Steve who has a frown on his face.
“What did you say to her?” He says coming around the counter.
“I just said that me and Vickie are going out in a date, why would she be upset about that?”
“She was going to ask you out Robin! Fuck, don’t you see she’s in love with you and you’ve been to busy with vickie to notice!”
“No she’s not come on Steve we all know if anyone she’s in love with it’s you.”
“Robin you are one of my best friends but you are really stupid sometimes, Y/n is my cousin, but that doesn’t matter right now but what does is that she had everything planned if you said yes. She’s been in love with you since we starting working at Scoops ahoy and now here at family video.”
“I didn’t know I just thought why would someone like her be in love with me? I’m a nobody, she was the queen in high school and you where the king so I just assumed it was that everyone thought you would be the perfect couple. I feel terrible now I just thought she wouldn’t wanna be with me. Fuck cover for me please?”
“You know I will go get her and cancel that date with Vickie! Oh and here!” He says tossing his keys to the house.
“I will!” Robin runs out of the store getting onto her bike and heads towards your house.
After crying for a while you fall asleep from exhaustion, only to be woken up with the feel of soft fingers moving your hair back from your face.
Opening your eyes you see Robin looking down at you. “What are you going here?”
“Steve told me so I cancelled my date with Vickie and before you say you didn’t have to do that, yes I did because I’m not gonna go out on a date with someone I thought I loved when the person I did love was right in front of me the whole time and to be fair I thought you where in love with Steve, well that was until he told me you guys where related I’ve never felt more embarrassed in my life.” She smiles
You sit up looking into her eyes. “Do you really mean it? Being in love with me? Because I won’t be able to handle it if your just trying to make me feel better.”
“I promise.” Robin reply’s putting her hand on your waist lifting you onto her lap.
“Can I?” You say looking down at her lips
“Not gonna stop you.”
You lean down kissing her lips feeling the softness of her lips against yours. Deepening the kiss you hold her closer to you before adding your tongue.
Robin lets out a soft moan feeling you grip her hair while grinding onto her. Hearing you gasp at the feeling of her jeans rub against your clit that has a thin barrier separating you guys fully.
You mumble a “please” against her lips.
She rubs her hand down your thigh under your skirt before reaching underneath your panties connecting with your clit.
She feels you grip he shoulders trying to rock against her but her other hand stops you. Your about to say something but you get stopped as you feel Robin starting to slowly rub your clit in slow circles.
You lay your head into her neck feeling the movements of her hand go faster. You whimper feeling light kisses on your neck.
“Shh baby it’s okay let it out, I wanna hear your pretty sounds.” The darkness in her voice sparks something in you and sends you over the edge. You grip her shoulders tightly as she rides out your orgasm, feeling your legs shake around hers.
Taking deep breath’s you slowly relax and lay against her. She removes her hand laying you down and holding you against her.
You cuddle into her, kissing her cheek before falling asleep in her arms.
“I’ll be right here when you wake up sweetheart.”

By this point, your arms felt like they were on fire. As you used your power like- no, as your life depended on it. Eddie tried to flick the engine on, with pure desperation.
Eddie spit the hair out of his mouth, exhausted. “C’mon! Why wont this piece of shit work!?”
His and yours eyes laid on Jason and Patrick, who were inching closer to you with every kick and stroke.
Contemplating on whether you have enough time to use your powers, the poor basketball player’s body started lifting up into the air. Making you really wonder:
‘How the fuck did we get here?’
From what happened today, you remember slamming doors and a frustrated Eddie.
In a short span of time, you became better at your telekinesis and mind reading. Almost effortlessly lifting things off the floor while checking your nose. Yep, a smidge of blood left your body.
Eddie tapped your shoulder, handing you a bowl of spaghetti-o’s.
“Thanks!” he simply nodded, walking away with the walkie.
Now, ladies and gentlemen, Eddie Munson had a problem.
His problem: Having a crush on the most beautiful woman he’s ever met in his life. And this woman was, wait for it- You!
The poor boy has never felt this way before about anybody. At one point, maybe Chrissy, but the way he felt about you was different. Too different.
As much of a confident persona Eddie puts out there, he knows who he is deep down. A metalhead, un-graduated adult man who was a freak. A freak that nobody could ever love.
His insecurity will be his downfall. He’s not as strong and fearless as you, he thought.
You, on the other hand, have been questioning why your new favourite brunette was avoiding talking or touching you. It was hard to figure out, so your mind went to the most logical answer.
He thought you were a monster.
I mean, just looking at the powers you have. You can read people's minds, make things levitate. You’re an abomination!
“Wheeler! Hey! Uhm, I’m gonna need a food delivery, like, real soon.” “But, didn’t Y/N get you some food?” Nancy asked, confused.
“Yeah, yeah she did. But she couldn’t pick me up any because she’s ‘underage’,” He quoted. “I am! It’s illegal!” You perked up, causing him to roll his eyes.
“I know it’s shit drinking right now but uh, I really-“
He was cut off, a smile forming on his face. He put down the walkie and munched on his spaghetti-o’s in bliss. Guess Nance said yes. You snatched it from him.
“Nancy! How have you guys been? I’ve been worried sick!”
You could imagine her rubbing the space between her brows, like she always does. “We’ve been peachy. Max almost died and Dustin and Steve have been acting like complete children. On the bright side, we do have a lead.”
Well, at least that brought some joy to you.
“So far, things over here’s been fine. No sudden attacks at all. Eddie’s been acting funny, though.”
“I bet he’s not used to being surrounded by a pretty girl. You just protect your new boyfriend and we’ll get back to you when we’re finished,” Robin interjected.
A light blush formed on your face. You pouted, scoffing at your friends' antics.
“Nice to hear from you too, Robin. How’s Steve?”
She chuckled. “Worried. Did you and Munson do anything? Y’know, just to make Steve worry a little less than he already is.”
You couldn't believe her! If you weren't dramatically red as a tomato, you would march down there and knock some sense into her.
“We didn’t do anything!” Your whining voice echoed, making her burst out in laughter,
“Alright, alright. We’ll be there soon. I’ll pick up your favourite snack, ok?” She proposed, making you a little better. “Ok.” You defeated, “Bye! Tell Steve and Dustin I miss them!”
And with that, you put the walkie down. Running a hand through your hair. Wondering how you got stuck with a bunch of dumbass friends (which you love very much, but still!)
You sighed, stepping into the kitchen and opening the fridge. Pulling out some fresh ingredients to make a fine dish for you and Ed.
“Hey, Eddie! What do you want to eat?” You called out. To no avail, since he did not respond.
“Ok, I’ll just choose…” You mumble under your breath. A tone of annoyance.
As you get everything ready, a very frantic Eddie comes rushing over to you. Spinning around after having him shake your shoulders. A look of serious distraught on his face.
You were confused and worried. “Eddie, what’s-“
“We gotta hide! NOW!”
It was quiet. Desolate. The sheer sound of flies buzzing around and your hitched breaths was still enough to make the both of you fidgety and scared.
Currently, Jason and his posey were searching the house. Trying to find the suspected perpetrator: the man sitting right next to you. Scared shitless and trying to reach out to Dustin- or anybody.
You, on the other hand, were trying to devise a way to distract Jason enough to get a successful getaway.
But a sudden headache interfered with that.
Eddie stared solemnly at you, noticing something was up. “Hey, are you feeling ok?” he asked.
You nodded your head.
This headache felt not like the ones you got while practicing or regular ones. It felt like someone was rattling around in your head.
Like there was something… ominous nearby.
But, you shook it off. Right now, it was Eddie’s and yours lives on the line.
“Ok… calm down. There’s a boat here, and if we’re sneaky enough, we can make a quiet escape.”
Eddie sunk into the floor. By his posture it was clear he felt meek. Frightened. He his his face in a ball he formed with his body. Squeezing his knees closer towards himself.
“Eddie?” You called out. “Please, I need your help for this to work. I can make a distraction while you pull the boat into the water. Together, we can find those knuckleheads and give them a piece of our minds.”
He didn’t say anything. Only keeping dead silent.
“Alright, uhm, I’ll go do the.. thing- yeah.”
You sighed, pulling yourself up and rolling up your sleeves. If he wasn't going to help you, you were going to have to girl-boss this shit by yourself. As annoyed as you were, you couldn't blame him.
He’s scared for his life. And you’ve got his back.
Slowly sneaking out of the boathouse, you make your way to the back of Reefer Ricks shack. Not before grabing a couple rocks. Slipping into the kitchen like a mouse.
Quickly, you chucked a rock near the living room. A lamp shattered and the boys immediately went over to see the damage.
You crawl up the stairs and close a door behind you.
There was no plan you could form. Having to go off what’s in the room. Searching through the drawers to get an idea, maybe.
That’s when you saw your plan; a lighter.
You wasted no time tying it together. Pulling together tight knots and making a rope.
Fire was always a distraction. If you maybe scared them off with a fire so you and Eddie could escape, then everything could come together. Smoke could distract them while you escaped.
Opening the door, you carefully light it on fire and hide in a closet in the hallway.
“What the fuck? I smell smoke! Guys, upstairs!”
You hear one of them come upstairs, all clamouring into the room. Before you could, you grabbed your backpack of stuff. Your gun, supplies and such.
You snuck out sprinting to Eddie in the shack. Heart as fast as a scared bunny. Breath staggering to keep up.
To your surprise, Eddie was there. Boat in the water and trying to start the engine.
A smile krept onto your face, laughing a little. Guess he was listening to you.
You take off your skates and dive in. Catching up to him and hopping in.
“I started a fire. That should distract them long enough!” You gleefully told him. Hoping and praying it worked.
He nodded affirmatively. “Great. Now we just need this-“ he slaps the motar hard, “piece of shit to work.”
“Don’t worry. Maybe I can make it work with my powers.” You say, kneeling down to it.
Before you could do anything, you glance at something in the distance. Quickly becoming fearful.
There was Jason and his other friend, discovering the two of you on the boat. The distraction may have worked on the others, but supposedly Jason wasn’t as stupid. Still is for going after a falsely accused man.
“Shit!” Eddie cursed, pulling with all his strength on the motar boat.
You started to take the rows and rowed like your life depended on it. Well, it did. Taking looks back at the slowly- but steadily- approaching Jason. Almost invisible in the darkness of night.
He was close. You didn’t want to have to rely on your powers, might it have to come down to it.
Steadying your hands, you concentrate on Jason and Patrick.
“What the fuck are you doing!?” Eddie called out, noticing the boat not moving.
You didn’t say anything to him, only directing your energy on the enemy. In seconds, Jason's body started floating. He stumbled in the air. “What the-'' he said, confused, wondering why his body was being lifted into the air and going backwards.
Before you could triumphantly get him to the shore, something happened.
Patrick.
His body floated. Not taking control from you.
His bones snapped. Body contorting backwards. Eyes falling into the back of his head as the big finale. It was just as gruesome as Eddie showed you. And the effect on the people watching…
Really did start to make sense.
Without even realizing it, Ed knocked you and himself into the water. Fear glazing his brown eyes. He pulled you closer to him and started kicking away.
“Eddie…” You called out, still mortified, “Eddie, we gotta go!”
You started to swim away with Eddie in tow.
As you made it to the land, you tried to get the haunting image out of your head. You and Eddie running away into the deep, wooded thicket.
The sun peeked through the trees above. Trudging steps, both ghosts quiet as you move through the forest.
Thankfully, the sun's heat started to dry both of your soaking bodies.
Your arms were crossed together. “Uhm, Eddie?” You called out. He stopped in his tracks and turned to you, waiting for you to catch up.
“I just wanted to say… I’m sorry.”
Your cracking tone said it all. Trying to hold back escaping tears. His eyes softened to your face, almost breaking down. Eddie shook his head.
“Shouldn’t be sorry. If anything, I should thank you.” He replied.
You both continued to move. “No, I meant with what we saw back there. It was mortifying.”
“Listen,” you expressed, “You shouldn’t have been a part of this. All this… should not have happened to you. All that shit I’ve just seen was horrible, and I can’t imagine going through it twice. You’re completely innocent in this and this should've been handled by me and my friends. We’ve been through this shit enough to be prepared.”
His eyes glossed. You meant everything you said, and he knew it. This whole situation was pure bullshit. And you wanted him to know-
“So, I’m sorry, Eddie. I know all you wanted was to graduate…”
And with that, you walked past him. Keeping those arms firmly crossed together.
There was nothing more that Eddie wanted to do then to hug you. Let his emotions cry into your shoulder.
But he didn’t want to do that to you. Again, his insecurities push those hopes deep down inside him. Your voice perking up in front of him.
“By the way, where are we going?”
He pauses for a second.
“The plan is to find another walkie, and then, heading to Skull Rock.”
You and Eddie started to once again trudge through the woods. Wondering what’s going to happen next, if everyone would be ok.
But most importantly: if you and Eddie would make this out alive.

steve harrington x fem!reader
olivia rodrigo’s new album just released and you were thrilled to listen to it and stream it the whole day.
when you finally got to listen to it, you asked your friends—robin, nancy, and the party, if they listened to it and which ones were their favorites.
robin told you that her top three were hope ur ok, jealousy, jealousy, and brutal.
nancy said she really loved favorite crime.
max said hers was also brutal.
el told you that she played good 4 u and traitor on repeat that hopper had to go into her room to turn it down.
when mike comes over to the cabin he can assure that el does indeed play them on repeat and get pissy about it (but he secretly loves the album, but he wouldn’t let her or anyone know that).
and lastly lucas and dustin are fans of deja vu and 1 step forward 3 steps back. max even told you that they would sing the bridge of deja vu on the top of their lungs.
you slightly laughed at the memory of them telling you about it.
however, there’s one more person that you haven’t talked to about it yet.
steve.
your smile faltered and faded when he came across in your mind.
your feelings for him had deepened over the time and listening to the sour album made it feel like you two had broken up, which in fact, is not true because you were never together in the first place.
suddenly, an idea popped in your head. instead of being sad about steve, you thought about texting him, although it’s almost 1AM, you knew he’d still be up.

Sailor Man: i’m not doing the last part you might as well forget about it
You: wjat
Sailor Man: :D
You: wtf
You: okay steve cut it out i’m not doing this anymore u’re not funny
Sailor Man: nope
Sailor Man: go to sleep we’re dating now that’s how this works
Sailor Man: okay i dont know if you’re still reading this now and i am terrified to say this to you in person like TERRIFIED. might piss my pants if i did. so (y/n/n), my favorite dumbass, my favorite person to talk to at night even if it interrupts my binge watching marathon, you make me so happy to the point that even when i sleep you’re still in my dreams. i like you. i have like the biggest fattest crush on you. and thank you for doing that sour album thing or whatever, because of that i get to finally ask you out
you rolled on your back after you read the message, facing the ceiling as your mind processed what just happened. was he playing with you? was he actually serious about asking you out?
Incoming video call...
Sailor Man
you took a deep breath before tapping the green button and placing it back down on the bed.
“hey,” you can tell that he was tired based on his voice. “can you show your face, please? i miss you.”
ignoring the butterflies in your stomach, you hesitantly lifted the phone and shifted your position to lay on your side. “hey.”
“hey yourself.” steve grins. that stupid grin that makes your stomach turn, that grin you always want to see everyday.
“what’s..up?” you avoided looking at him and started to admire your surroundings and the posters placed on your wall. this was the only time you were glad you weren’t with him in person.
“i just wanted to see if you’re okay.” of course he will ask that. he's steve. he cares about other more than himself.
“i am, thanks.” you showed a smile that doesn't reach your ears and steve knew something was bothering you. “hey, look. i'm sorry about my confession- if it made you uncomfortable i'm sorry-”
“no,” you cut him off, looking back at his face on the screen. “i’m fine, really. you don't have to apologize. i was just, surprised.”
there was silence between the two of you for a few seconds, before you spoke again. “did you mean it?” you voice was only above whisper but steve managed to hear them. “of course,” he answered almost too quick, without any hesitation. “i've been trying to find the perfect opportunity and had been asking god for signs because i can't make a move myself-”
“asking god?” you chuckled and steve smiled hearing them, glad that he somehow lightened the mood. “well, more like begging.” he continues and you giggled.
once your laughter died you both fell into silence again. you still couldn’t believe that out of a fun joke, it would turn into a whole another situation. “so, um.. just so you know, i’m not mad, or upset, or anything. i really was just surprised. it felt like a dream because i didn’t know that you like me back and all i did was just supposed to be a fun joke but—”
“hold on, back?”
“what?”
“like you back. you said i like you back.” steve sat up on his bed and fixed his hair as his eyes widened. “i did...” you said slowly, not catching up.
“does that mean you..”
then it hit you. “oh, right. yeah. i- i like you..too.” you waited for his reaction and once you saw him smile you couldn’t stop yourself from doing the same.
“i knew it. and well, i guess that confirms it. we’re dating now. no taking back.” he smirks then laughs when your rolled your eyes. “don’t flatter yourself, harrington. i did not say shit.” you pointed your index finger on the screen, barely containing your giggles.
“based on your beautiful smile i think you don’t need to say it. i like you, and you like me. we’re dating.” steve gives you a teasing smile. you tried keeping your serious face but it won’t last longer so you finally smiled again. “alright, fine. no taking backs. we’re dating.” you said then laughed as he whisper-yelled ‘yes!’ while fist pumping the air.
he soon joined your laughter and you stayed like that until your jaw was pretty much in pain because of your smiles. when it was all quiet again, you both just admired each other’s presence through the screens of your phones. “i wish i was there with you.” he mumbles. “yeah, me too.” you hugged your cold pillow beside you, closing your eyes for a moment and imagining it as steve.
“are your parents home?”
you snorted at his random question. “i’m actually alone right now, they’re out because dad got promoted at his work so he and mom and i think a few friends went out to celebrate. they should be home by an hour or two. why?”
“nothing.” was all he said before hanging up. you were left confused but then he’s your best friend after all, so you knew right then and there that he’ll do something stupid. after you turned your phone off you suddenly felt watching a movie so you went to the kitchen to make some popcorn.
when it was finished and had been put in a bowl, that’s when you heard your doorbell rang—in a pattern which you recognize, and only one person does that.
you let out a quiet laugh when you realized who it was and set the bowl on the counter before opening the door.
“hi!” steve greeted you with a smile. “uh, hi?” you laughed nervously and stepped aside for him to go in. “i smell popcorn, are we having a movie night?” he says as he steps inside and shrugged off his jacket. “actually yeah, i’m planning on watching—”
“tangled.” he finishes off, you subconsciously smiled upon hearing your favorite movie. “how’d you know?”
steve snatches a few popcorns from the bowl as you both arrived in the kitchen. “(y/n), you have watched that movie 7 times this week and always gush to me about it.”
“well, you’re the only one that is around my age that i can talk to with that movie. robin and nancy aren’t that into it.” you replied, grabbing the bowl and making your way back to your bedroom, steve following your heels. “and you think i’m the best option to talk to about that?” he asks, plopping down on your bed and resting his back on the headboard.
“you’re not complaining.” you shrugged as you grabbed your laptop and sat beside steve.
“yeah, probably because i like you.” it came out of his mouth casually. you froze in place and felt your cheeks heat up, finally nodding your head slowly, “..probably.” as you typed in the movie in your laptop you felt steve scoot closer, making your breath hitch.
you were both in a comfortable silence while watching the movie, except for a few jokes and comments that steve makes and him explaining how similar he was to flynn rider.
“you know, since i’m eugene, you could be rapunzel.” he suddenly says. you eyes were still on the screen but your eyebrows furrowed. “why? i’m nothing like her.”
finally looking at steve, you almost screamed how he was already looking at you. “oh, you are so rapunzel. you may not have the longest hair in the world, but you are pretty much similar.” he replies, smiling and not taking his eyes off of you.
you paused the movie and shifted your body towards him, intrigued by his explaination. “how so?”
“well, first off,” steve starts, resting his hands on the soft mattress. “you’re both sweet, you’re both a huge ray of sunshine, have gorgeous eyes and smile, and eugene is head over heels over you — and since he doesn’t exist in real life, i’d like to be the substitute.” he finished with a confident smile.
after about three seconds, you burst out of laughter. you laughed. as much as he loves the sound of your laugh, he can’t help but pout. “(y/n), i’m trying to be sweet here!”
“i’m sorry!- it’s just- i can’t help but laugh at your flirting.” you managed to say between your laughs. you know he’s kidding but he looked at you like he was offended.
your laughter died down and held steve’s face. “it’s cute, sorry.” you mumble with a little laugh. when he finally smiled you turned to your laptop and continued the movie.
steve gazes at you for a few more seconds before watching the movie with you again. “thank you.” you whisper, glancing at him.
“you’re very much welcome, my rapunzel.” he says smiling before he slides a bit down on the bed so his head could reach your shoulder and rests it there.
you giggled as you heard him whisper,
“thank you, olivia rodrigo.”

Chapter Two
Eddie’s new trailer was…. It just was. It was evident that two men lived there without a feminine touch. But their couch was comfortable and, as far as she knew, no one had died there. Yet. Robin was currently on her way to becoming the first death on the threshold due to pure embarrassment.
“I kissed her nose, Eddie!” She groaned and flopped face down on the couch.
“Not gonna lie, Buckley, I don’t really see the problem here.”
Eddie was sitting on the floor, back against the couch. When Robin lifted her head to glare at him, he passed her his joint sympathetically.
“Friends don’t kiss each other’s noses, Eddie,” Robin said, exhaling smoke.
“I don’t know how female friendships work,” Eddie defended himself, “and, for the record, I don’t think Wheeler does either. You’re fine.”
Robin just groaned and buried her head in the couch again. Her and Eddie had gotten close fast once realizing they were both social outcasts and even faster after they came out to each other. Robin loved Steve more than anyone in this world and the one under it, but there were some things he just couldn’t understand.
Since Robin and Eddie simultaneously developed crushes on Nancy and Steve, respectively, they had also started making a habit out of pining after their crushes together. There was nothing that could bond friends faster than mutually crushing on straight exes that were probably going to get back together. Except maybe an actual life or death situation. Robin and Eddie had both.
“I don’t want to think about it anymore. What’s going on with you and Steve?”
Eddie turned to look at her, “You mean what’s not going on. Also, I think I told him he was a corgi.”
Robin sat up at that, “Wait, what? Why?”
Eddie moved to sit on the couch, “You know, I’m not entirely sure. He had said something about you being a house cat and that he was a golden but he is so not a golden so I… told him he was a corgi.”
Robin thought about it. “He kind of is a corgi.”
“Right? Thank you!” They laughed and Robin passed the joint back to Eddie. “Anyways, where do you reckon they are on the getting back together scale?”
Robin groaned again, “Steve still swears up and down that they are just friends and so does Nancy.”
Eddie hummed thoughtfully, “Would they tell you if they weren’t?”
“Steve would. He has no reason not to.”
Eddie glanced at her at that, “You still haven’t told him?”
Robin threw up her hands, “What am I supposed to say? ‘Hey best friend! Lovely weather we’re having! By the way, I have a crush on your ex who you’re definitely still in love with! Yay!’”
“Well, not exactly that,” Eddie conceded, “But you guys tell each other everything, right? I can’t imagine him having a problem with it.”
Robin flopped back down, staring at the ceiling and letting her legs rest on Eddie’s lap, who protested for all of one second before accepting it. “No, of course not. But he might not get back with Nancy if he knows. And I want him to be happy. And Nance.”
“Even if she’s not with you?”
Robin sighed, “I’d rather be her friend than nothing.”
Eddie shook his head, “You’re such a liar, Buckley.”
But she wasn’t, not really. She did want Steve to be happy, maybe even more than she wanted anything for herself. And of course she wanted Nancy to be happy. Wasn’t that what love was? And ideally Nancy would be happiest with her, but that just wasn’t the reality. Didn’t mean Robin didn’t hope for it, though. She didn’t say any of that.
Instead, she looked up at the ceiling and said, “Can we put glowy stars on your ceiling?”
“Robin. You’re a motherfucking genius.”
Eddie drove them to the store. Robin struggled not to throw up in the passenger seat.
“No hurling in the van, Buckley!”
“It’s not my fault your driving is deadly!”
“If you puke in this van, our friendship is over.”
“Promise?”
Eddie hurled them into a spot and slammed the van into park. He was immediately jumping out of the seat and jogging around to the passenger side.
“Let’s go, Buckley, we don’t have all day.”
Robin swayed in her seat, “I need a recovery period.”
Eddie rolled his eyes as he ushered her into the store.
Robin didn’t believe in fate. But maybe she should. Because the first two stores did not sell glowy stars, or maybe they were just hiding their stash from the two red-eyed teens, leading Eddie to drive them another two nausea-filled blocks to their final hope. The last convenience store in Hawkins. Which did contain glowy stars. And also Nancy Wheeler.
“Well, well, well if it isn’t the one and only Nancy Wheeler. What brings you to this fine establishment?” Always trust Eddie to make a production out of everything.
Nancy turned and her eyes immediately brightened at seeing them, making Robin’s heart thump in her chest. “Hey guys! Just running an errand for my mom, what about you?”
“We are looking for glow stars to put on Eddie’s ceiling,” Robin told her.
“Uhhh, yeah,” Eddie agrees, but when Robin looked at him she noticed a glint in his eyes that she decidedly did not like. “I’m gonna go look over there,” he jutted his thumb over his shoulder, “and you take this aisle, Buckley.”
He was gone before Robin could protest that this was a cleaning supply aisle and unlikely to have glow stars.
“I don’t think you're going to find the stars in this aisle,” Nancy said, eyes dancing with laughter.
Robin shrugged, “Eddie’ll find them. Probably.”
Nancy raised one eyebrow, “Is it really wise to leave Eddie unsupervised and high in this store?”
“Eddie’s not high.” A very unfortunately timed crash sounded from the other side of the store, followed by Eddie’s cackle. “Eddie’s not that high,” Robin amended.
Nancy giggled. Actually giggled. Robin always thought people sounded so dumb when they giggled, but if she could only choose one sound to hear for the rest of her life it would be Nancy’s giggle. No contest.
“So, is Steve around here somewhere, then?” Nancy asked.
Robin’s heart fell. Of course, she was looking for Steve. “Nah, just me and Eds today.”
“Eds?”
“Yeah. It’s a nickname, Nance,” Robin teased.
Nancy gave a closed mouthed smile. She turned back to the cleaning supplies. Robin wondered when and why Nancy’s mood had changed.
Robin stepped closer to Nancy and bumped her shoulder against the other girl’s, “You okay?”
Nancy smiled back at her, a real smile this time (Robin didn’t know how long she had been able to distinguish Nancy’s fake smiles from her real ones), “Yeah,” she said, “I’m good,” she turned away from the cleaning supplies to look at Robin, “By the way, I know we are supposed to hang out with the guys tonight, but Max and El want to have a slumber party, if you’re interested.”
Robin brightened instantly. She knew Max was younger than her, but she was cool and Robin was constantly baffled and honored by the fact that Max wanted to hang out with her. And El was just adorable.
“That sounds fun! Eddie and Steve will have to survive without us, I guess.”
“Cool. Meet at my house at 6? Unless you need a ride?” Nancy asked.
“I’ll have Eddie drop me off on his way to Steve. And Max, too, since she’s right there.”
Nancy’s face fell again, and she pasted on a fake smile. What was up with that? Did Nancy not like Eddie? That couldn’t be it, right? But Nancy just nodded and said, “Perfect.”
There was another crash, followed by a “Hey!”, probably from an underpaid employee. Robin winced. “I should probably…” she gestured vaguely in the area of the crash.
“Yeah,” Nancy agreed.
“See you tonight!” Robin reached out and squeezed Nancy’s hand before turning to go find Eddie.
“So, are we going for random placement or actual constellations?”
Eddie and Robin were standing in his new room, which was basically a mirror image of his old room, both staring at the ceiling. Eddie held the plastic bags from the convenience store.
“I think we overestimated the surface area of my ceiling.”
Robin glanced down at the bags in Eddie’s hands, “Yeah.”
They had purchased the store’s entire supply of glowy stars, which was likely enough to cover Eddie’s room, walls and all, at least twice.
“Well, I guess we can give the extras to Nancy or Steve tonight.”
Robin snorted, “You think Nance has glowy stars on her ceiling?”
“You never know.”
“I suppose. But Nance and I aren’t going to Steve’s tonight,” she said it with forced casualty.
“Did she finally realize you were such a catch and ask you out?” Eddie teased.
“No,” Robin elbowed him in the side, “she invited me to a slumber party with El and Max.”
“Ah. Fun. And I’m assuming you’ll need a ride to this shindig?”
“Yes. Also, can you drive Max?”
Eddie made a show of rolling his eyes but he only resisted for all of a moment. “Fine. Let’s do constellations.”
The sun had gone down when Eddie honked his horn twice to usher Max out.
“Where is she?”
“What’s your problem?” Robin asked, fiddling with the radio, “In a hurry to see Steve?”
“Shut up, Buckley,” then he raised his voice to a yell, “Max Mayfield get your ginger ass out here!”
“I’m right here.”
Eddie and Robin nearly jumped out of their skin. Max was standing by the back door of the van, backpack on and skateboard in hand, as always.
“Can you open the door?”
Max climbed in and Eddie was pulling out before the door was even closed. He drove through the residential streets of Hawkins, speedometer never dipping below 50. Max rolled down the window and let the wind blow her hair back. Robin resisted the urge to tell Eddie to slow down. He was excited to see Steve, she knew, no matter how he denied it. It was sweet. She just hoped he wouldn’t get her heart broken. Not that she was one to talk. Her own heart was ready to leap out of her chest at the thought of seeing Nancy even though she saw her just hours earlier.
Eddie came to a rolling stop to let the girls out and was driving away the second Robin’s beat up sneakers hit the asphalt of the Wheelers’ driveway. She waved but he was already too far away to see.
“He drives like Billy,” Max said. Then she turned sharply and walked up the path to the Wheelers’ front door before Robin could say a word. Max didn’t bring up Billy often. Robin hoped she was okay.
Max rang the doorbell and made pleasant conversation with Karen Wheeler while they waited for El and Nancy to come down from Nancy’s room. Robin said a polite hello and tried not to be obvious about looking around the house. The last time she was here, she was mostly occupied with a telepathic serial killer and hadn’t really had a chance to look around. The Wheelers’ house screamed nuclear family and Robin tried to suppress a grin thinking about how it must tick Nancy off. Everything she could see was arranged just so. Photos lined the staircase, the kitchen was pristine, and even Ted Wheeler reclining in front of the TV looked like he was in a museum exhibit about the perfect cul-de-sac family.
The sound of footsteps on the stairs sent Robin’s heart pounding.
“Max!” It was El. She flung herself into Max’s arms. Max hugged her back just as enthusiastically. Letting go, she took Max’s hand and began to lead her up the stairs, already complaining about something dumb Jonathan and/or Will had done that morning. Max stopped and turned to Robin.
“Aren’t you coming?”
“Oh, yeah,” Robin unfroze and followed the girls upstairs and down the hall to Nancy’s room. Inside, everything was as Robin remembered. The Tom Cruise poster had been taken down, though. On the surface, Nancy’s room yelled perfect daughter, but Robin knew otherwise. She knew Nancy well enough now to see the little ways she rebelled. The Metallica record (a gift from Eddie) beneath the stack of Blondie albums. The feminist books stacked on her dresser. And, of course, the guns Robin knew she kept in a shoe box on the top shelf of her closet.
“You can come in.”
Robin realized she had been standing in the threshold awkwardly. Nancy smiled at her and Robin nearly died on the spot. She looked adorable with her curls up in a messy bun and glasses Robin didn’t know she needed perched on her nose. Robin stepped into Nancy’s room.
“Hi.”
“Hi. Did you end up finding stars?”
Robin had a very incoherent thought about stars and Nancy’s eyes before she realized Nancy was talking about the glow stars from earlier. “Yeah, we did. Got enough to cover the walls, too. Eddie has extra if you want any.”
“I’m good, thanks.”
Max and El had sequestered themselves in the corner of Nancy’s room and were talking about God knows what. Every so often they broke out in high pitched giggles.
“So do you and Eddie hang out often?” Nancy asked, taking a seat on the edge of her bed.
“Almost every day, yeah.”
Nancy glanced away.
“Do you have a problem with Eddie?” Robin blurted out. Nancy whipped her head back around to look at her.
“No. Why would you think that?”
“It’s just that every time I talk about him you tense up. I thought you guys were friends. I mean, I know you aren’t as close as Steve and I, but I like Eddie and I’m friends with you so it would be great for all of us to get along. I thought we were all getting along but if you have something against Eddie then–”
“Robin,” Nancy interrupted, holding up her hands to stop Robin’s ramble, “I don’t have a problem with Eddie. We are friends. You have nothing to worry about, I promise. And I’m sorry if I came across weird or standoffish. I know I do that sometimes, especially with new people.”
Robin remembered how Nancy had asked who she was the first time they had met in the Starcourt mall last summer, even though they had been in the same class since grade school with the same 80 people. Like Nancy had to establish she was the leader of the group as opposed to Robin. She remembered thinking it was hot.
“It’s okay,” Robin said.
“It’s just… are you and Eddie, like, maybe more than friends?” Nancy looked at her feet as she said it.
“What? No! Absolutely not.”
“Okay,” Nancy looked like she didn’t believe her, and Robin was about to protest more, but El called them over to choose face masks and the moment ended.
Being with the younger girls was fun. Sometimes Robin forgot that they were only freshmen. They had seen so much, been through so much. They needed a night like this, where they could just be girls. After the face masks, they gossiped about meaningless drama. Nancy recruited El and Max into trying to pry Robin’s crush from her, but she didn’t give in. Nancy braided Max’s hair and El experimented with makeup on Robin with occasional suggestions from Max and Nancy. It was the best night Robin had in a long time.
Around midnight, Nancy set up the younger girls in her bed and spread pillows and blankets on the floor for her and Robin. When she turned on the night light to ward away the dark, Robin saw Max relax marginally. Nancy wasn’t the only one with a fear of the dark after everything. Max and El fell asleep quickly.
Robin was lost in her own thoughts when she heard Nancy say her name.
“Yeah?”
“You’re still awake?”
“Yeah.”
“Me too.”
“Can I ask you something?” Robin asked.
“Of course.”
“Why haven’t you gotten back together with Steve yet? I know he’s asked.”
Nancy sighed. “He has. I just…”
Robin waited out the silence in the dark. Staring at the ceiling, hoping for the impossible.
“He’s too comfortable for me.” Nancy whispered, “We were never together because we had strong feelings for each other. I mean, I loved him, but it was a soft love. It was nice. We were the King and Queen of Hawkins High. It felt like we were just living out a story that had already been written for us. And I could keep turning the pages. Get back together with him. Get married and have six kids and a dog at the end of a cul-de-sac. Never leave Hawkins. It would be nice. But I don’t want nice. I want… more. I want to be a journalist. I want to live in a city and have a busy life and a career. And I want a love that sets me on fire. I want to do crazy, stupid things because I’m so in love. I want the rollercoaster, the kissing in the rain, the screaming fights at 2 am, knowing them like the back of my hand.
“And Steve is great. He’s more than great. And I love him, I probably always will. But not like that anymore. Maybe not ever. And maybe that’s selfish, to want all those things. I don’t know.”
“I think,” Robin answered, “after everything that’s happened, you’re allowed to be a little selfish.”
Nancy turned to face Robin on the floor. After a moment, Robin turned too. They were less than inches apart. Robin could lean forward, brush their noses together, press her forehead against Nancy’s. Press her lips against Nancy’s.
“You are, too. You deserve the world, Robs.”
The nickname lit sparks in Robin’s stomach, “I wish I could have a love like that.”
“You will,” Nancy said it like a fact, but her eyes were big and round, her lips were pressed together.
Robin shook her head, “You don’t understand. I can’t.”
The blankets shuffled and then Robin felt Nancy’s hand slide into her own. “Then tell me.”
Robin took a deep breath. For once, the nausea she felt had nothing to do with Eddie’s driving. Here we go. She felt as if she was at the edge of a cliff, about to jump.
“I can’t have that because… I’ve never felt that way about a guy.”
Nancy’s brow furrowed, “You will, when you meet someone worthy of you.”
“No, I won’t. I’ll never feel that way about a guy. Because the way I’m supposed to feel about them, the way everyone thinks I feel about Steve… I have felt it. But not for a guy. For a girl.”
Nancy’s hand was still in Robin’s, but she would pull away any second. Any second she would kick Robin out, come up with a story to tell Max and El in the morning. Stop talking to Robin, stop coming to Steve’s.
But that didn’t happen. Nancy squeezed her hand and didn’t let go.
“Robin… you are so brave. Thank you for telling me that.” She sounded sincere. Robin exhaled.
“You’re not… disgusted?”
“No! Of course not. You’re my best friend, Robs. And I know Steve is yours, but I wanted to tell you anyway.”
Robin smiled, “You’re my best friend, too. I can have more than one, right?”
Nancy grinned. She hesitated, then leaned forward and pecked Robin on the nose, “Right.”
“Good night, Robs.”
“Night, Nance.”
It was over an hour later when Robin finally fell asleep, Nancy’s hand still linked with hers.

"Guys! Oh, I'm so glad you're here!" Dustin risks bowling over Mike, Lucas, and Will with the exuberance of his hug but there's no way he can keep quiet about this. Not after what he had done the night before. "I have a secret and I'm dying to tell somebody else."
They all seem confused for a moment before Lucas' eyes widen.
"You got Suzie pregnant?"
"What? No!" He makes a face, jokingly punching his friend on the shoulder. "Jesus, Lucas, why would you even think that?"
"If it's not that then what?" Mike sounded annoyed but then again, he kind of always sounded like that.
Dustin wasted no time in pulling out the leatherbound journal he had found the night before, leading his friends to an outcrop near the docks, shadowed by trees. He opened it to the first page, where Steve had scrawled his name in neat calligraphy.
"Is that Steve's diary? Dustin, what the hell?"
"It's from the summer of '85 guys! You know what that means?"
"Uh, that you shouldn't be reading your older brother's teenage thoughts?" Lucas fixed Dustin with a light glare, which he ignored.
"No, idiot. Summer of '85 was the last time Steve ever dated someone! You know, the same year he moved here? When mom took him in?"
"I'm not following. What does this have to do with your wedding?" Mike crossed his arms over his chest, Will peeking over Dustin's shoulder to scan the pages.
"Well, wouldn't it be nice if Steve got to be happy too? He's been taking care of me since my mom died. He's the only family I have and if Suzie and I leave the Villa, who will help him?"
Lucas and Mike don't seem convinced with Dustin's reasoning but at least they stop glaring accusingly at him. In the end, is Will who breaks the staring contest between the three of them.
"So what did you find?"
"Uh, okay so listen to this." Dustin flipped some pages from the journal stopping at a page and grinning.
I keep being surprised when Mama doesn't show up to the important events in my life but I guess I should be used to it now. Robin insists I forget her, Nancy asked if I was planning to go back, and that's when I told them about my plans. Both of them are sad to see me go, we're the Dynamos after all, but they were supportive and saw me off at the airport.
My flight did a stop in France. I met Tommy there when he confused me for one of the staff workers. He's kind of a dick but in a charming way, and he's got this adorable smattering of freckles covering his face. He told me about growing up in London and how his dad was a banker, how his mom had his whole life planned out for him as soon as he graduated from college.
We went out for a few drinks and friendly banter turned into drunk 21 questions. Tommy told me how he's always wanted to but he's never been with another guy before. And look, I'm never like this! But we were pretty drunk, and I was curious if those freckles went all the way down! So one thing led to another and we ...
"I'm not sure if I wanna keep listening to this," Lucas said, making a face.
Mike, on the other hand, took a seat next to Dustin trying to see what was written on the journal. "Well, I do."
"What's dot dot dot?" Will asked, eyebrows furrowed.
"Oh, that's just a euphemism for having sex," Dustin said waving a dismissive hand as he flipped through more pages. "Okay, okay, now listen to this."
After almost missing the ferry, I finally reached Scopello this afternoon. The turqouise waters and the approaching sunset must have been one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen in my life. I think, that maybe I could stay here. Forever. Oh, but I'm not sure, it would mean rarely seeing Robin and Nancy, dropping all dreams of singing in the big stages, all those dreams...
I don't want to worry about this now. This place is too beautiful and I want to make the most of it.
There was a storm the other night. I've been staying on a rundown farm at the edges of town and during the storm heard a loud sound downstairs. There was a horse there, probably scared from the thunder but the ceiling collapsed and I couldn't get to it. I wasn't really thinking when I decided it would be a good idea to try and run back into town to get help. Luckily, this guy had been out driving (who rides out a Camaro in a thunderstorm??) and he helped me get to the horse and calm him down.
His name is William, Billy for short (the guy, not the horse), and I've never met a guy more infuriating than him. Or as hot, either. Good gods, he looks like he walked straight out of an art museum or something.
We’ve spent this whole month together, going out to swim at the beach (he tried teaching me to surf and I almost twisted my ankle on some rocks), then to a local bar (I actually got a new job singing there, who would've thought?), some picnics. It's been awfully romantic despite Billy’s brazenness and cocksure attitude.
And I think that I... I think that I might love him.
"But if they were so into each other, what happened?" Will pipes up again, a frown on his face as he tried to read over Dustin's shoulder with little results.
"I still think you shouldn't be doing this, dude. What if Steve finds out? He's going to be so mad at you!" Lucas interjects, picking another rock from the sand and making it skip over the surface of the water.
"He would kill me for sure," Dustin shrugs, offering a toothy grin. "But only if he finds out."
"Dustin, c'mon! What happened next?" At this point Will looks like he's about to rip the journal out of his friend's hands and read it himself.
"Jesus, you're pushy. Okay, so-"
Billy's engaged. Didn't even tell me, I had to find out for myself while I was making him breakfast and accidentally stumbled over some documents he had left laying around. My chest hurts, and I haven't stopped crying since he left this morning but I'm just so angry!
Fuck, I feel so dumb. This is all my fault. All because I was being a stupid reckless little slut.
Ugh. I sound like my mom. At least Robin and Nancy called to say they would arrive this week. I've truly missed them, can't wait to see them.
The girls came to see me during one of my shifts at the bar where I was singing. Robin couldn't stop laughing at Nancy's surprised face. She thinks I've changed a lot since I left but in a good way. I don't really believe her and I think she knows that. With them here, at least the ache from Billy's departure barely makes itself present.
Oh! Before I forget to write this again, today I saw Jonathan again. He was this nice photographer who slowed the ferry's departure so I wouldn't miss it. We talked a lot on our way and he's such a nice guy. He came to the bar today and we got talking again, he asked if I would be okay with modeling for him tomorrow. Nancy and Robin insisted that I tell him yes, as a chance to try and forget Billy by "getting some".
I told them it's an awful idea but I accepted Jonathan's offer either way. He's quiet but caring, and I really enjoy talking with him. We talked about his family back in America, his mom and his little brother. Honestly, if something were to happen tomorrow, I wouldn't be opposed to it...
"Wait." Will leans back, a confused expression on his face that slowly morphs into astonishment. "Dustin, does Steve ever say the last name of this Jonathan guy?"
"Uh," Dustin frowns, flipping through the pages. "Yeah, they are here somewhere. Let me look for them."
"Will, you don't think-" Mike starts, having caught onto his best friend's train of thought.
"Jonathan took a trip to Italy when I was fifteen." He says simply, biting on the pad of his thumb.
"Oh shit." All eyes turn to Dustin who's got his eyes fixated on the journal in his lap. "Byers. The guys last name is Byers."
"Holy shit Will, your brother hooked up with Dustin's brother." Lucas tries to tamper down his laughter but it's a futile endeavor, his lips curling up before he can control them. "I can't believe this."
"But wait," Mike turns to Dustin who's expression has turned troubled. His eyes narrow. "You still haven't explained what this has to do with your wedding. What did you do?"
Dustin stays quiet for a minute or two before he lifts his gaze to his friend's, a sheepish smile on his lips. "I uh, I invited all three of them to the wedding but made it look like Steve sent the invites. And they uh... they all said yes?"
This time Lucas doesn't even bother hiding his laugh, doubling over as he nearly cackles at the stupidness of this whole situation.
"Dude, you're so fucked when Steve finds out."

max hadn’t meant to let it slip. she and robin were talking about crushes - because god knows that girl needs regular girl talk after all the shit she’s been through - about how lucas and dustin both liked max and how steve liked robin. the conversation shifted onto billy, who was still in a coma.
he had gotten a better. he started breathing on his own and was showing signs of brain activity. his fingers have twitched and slightly raised off the bed, but he still hasn’t woken up. steve and robin visit, but mostly because max begged them to after the doctor had told her that having visitors around his own age and hearing about topics more in his scope, like college and music, was probably better for him than hearing the party talk about d&d and arcade games. so they visited a couple times a week.
his hair had gotten longer since july. and curlier. less product alongside the nurses constantly brushing it out made his hair soft. sometimes she caught steve twirling the blonde curls around his finger, other times she found him running his hand from his scalp down to his ends. on rare occasions he was cupping billy’s cheek, thumb running over the scar below his eye before moving down to swipe over his bottom lip. she didn’t interrupt him when she found him like that, instead snuck back out. he looked a lot younger, too. less muscly and angry. without the scowl and constant jaw clench, he looked more at ease. she figured steve liked him better like this. soft and silent. she wasn’t sure if he’d revert back to his old ways when he woke up.
“i think lucas and dustin both liked me before he met suzie. they acted like creeps. always watching me.” she reminisced with a chuckle.
“steve confessed his love to me after puking our guts out in the starcourt bathroom when the russians drugged us.”
“i don’t know which is more romantic.” max joked. robin laughed. max was 100% her favorite little shit.
“steve’s always been a bit of a romantic. he would always spin nancy around in the hall. i hope he finds someone soon.” robin shrugged. “we both can’t be single losers forever.”
“billy was always jealous of nancy.” max snorted. “he would stare at her in the school parking lot and get mad whenever i asked.”
max was smiling fondly but it dropped in a second. she paled, her eyes growing wide when she saw robin’s confused expression. broke eye contact immediately.
“why was billy jealous of nancy wheeler?” robin frowned, confused.
“i-i meant jealous of steve.” max tried pathetically. winced at her forced tone.
“max. why was billy jealous of nancy?” robin tried again, tone soft.
max looked about two seconds away from either screaming out of rage or crying. she’s a lot like her brother, robin noted.
“he likes steve.” max blurted.
robins eyes widened as she stared at the teenager. billy hargrove, school manwhore, lady killer, king of hawkins both in and out of girl’s skirt, is-
“billy’s gay?”
“you can’t tell anyone.” max began to plead. “i wasn’t supposed to tell anyone, he made me promise. i promised i wouldn’t. not after-“ she looked up at robin. “robin please don’t tell anyone. not even steve. he can’t know. no one can.”
“but what about may and holly and-and jessica?” robin asked. “are you sure he’s not bisexual?”
max shook her head. “he just uses girls as a cover. i dont think he’s ever really... been with one.” she shrugged weakly. “i know he’s been with boys back home but his dad found out and went crazy and hurt billy really bad and.” a shaky exhale. “now we’re here.”
everyone knew about billy’s dad. max had a small meltdown when he showed up to the hospital and started screaming, telling him to get out and leave billy alone. everyone knew about neil hurting billy, but no one knew why. except now robin did.
“oh.” robin exhaled. “i won’t tell anyone.” she promised. “this stays between us, okay?” a pause. “i’m, um. i’m like billy, max.” she rubbed the back of her neck. “if anyone knows how to keep a secret, it’s me kid.”
the relief and shock on max’s face was comical.
“you - oh.” she nodded. “is that why you and steve never-“
“yeah.” robin nodded. “billy might’ve been jealous of nancy but. i was jealous of steve. tammy thompson kept staring at the doof.” she rolled her eyes. “he said she sings like a muppet. can you believe that?” max laughed.
**
steve had gone to billy’s room alone tonight. he felt bad asking robin to eat dinner with him or accompany him to visit billy after they’d visited for the past couple days. but he didn’t feel like being alone and he’ll take a sleeping billy hargrove over being lonely. but when he got to the room he heard a familiar voice. robin. she sounded like she was about to cry. or she already was.
“god, you asshole, just wake up already.” she huffed. “i was talking to max earlier and she kinda let something slip and. if i had just known then maybe you wouldn’t have been so alone.”
steve knew it was wrong to stand by the door and listen in, but he was never exactly one for tight morals. he couldn’t help but wonder what she was talking about.
“i know hawkins fucking sucks for people like us but i’m here now. and so is max and steve and joyce and everyone else. your dad is a piece of shit but you don’t have to worry about him anymore.”
steve frowned. “people like us”? what does she mean by that?
“max misses you. she reminds us of you, just not as mean.” she laughed. “at least to me. she’s a little shit to everyone else and i’m pretty sure she learned that from you but she’s pretty cool. she’d be cooler without always worrying about you, though. she’s quieter now. sometimes she goes silent and it’s like her mind is somewhere else and we all know she’s thinking of you.”
a pause.
“i think steve likes you too. if you would just wake the hell up we could all be friends. we’d be such a badass trio, dude, imagine.” a soft chuckle. “but. maybe you guys could be.. more.” a sigh. “i think he’s like us but he just seems.. confused? i don’t think he knows what he’s feeling. he’s like david bowie, i’m pretty sure. likes both.”
oh. that’s what she meant. like us.
“i know he likes you, though. he’s always touching you. he doesn’t think i see when he plays with your hair or touches your face. sometimes he touches your mouth and, fortunately for you, hargrove, i don’t think that’s straight guy behavior. i wonder if you can feel him. i hope you can.”
a sniffle, then a hushed, “i just want you guys to be happy.” a shaky exhale. “you both deserve to be happy. billy, you deserve better. you deserve more. god, you better be listening to me, dipshit. this is the nicest i’ll ever be to you, even after you wake up. which better be soon, i’m losing my patience with you.” a watery laugh.
then the room goes eerily silent. steve is about a second away from walking in when he hears,
“holy shit, hargrove, are you crying?”
steve peaks inside as quietly as humanly possible, finds a panicking robin standing above a sleeping billy with tears streaming down his cheeks.
“you’re in there.” robin laughs. “holy shit, you’re really in there. stuck inside that head under all that fucking nice and unexpectedly soft hair that you really don’t deserve. jesus, fuck.” shes rubbing at her cheeks before gently wiping his wet ones.
“you just gotta wake up, now, man. chop chop.”
**
steve’s there when billy wakes up about a week later. robin was sitting with max on one side of the bed and steve beside billy on the other in his usual seat, holding billy’s hand not-so-subtly and watching jeopardy.
billy weakly squeezed steve’s hand, a barely there thing. wide brown found tired blue, softness in steve’s eyes.
robin and max stared at billy, eyes wide in shock.
“hey, asshole,” robin greeted with a smirk. she nodded towards his and steve’s interlinked hands.
“told you so.”
she cackles at the tired and weak yet fierce and deadly glare billy sends her way.

wyd?
modern au, established relationship, i think nancy's gay
Steve’s on TikTok when the text comes in. He’s doing better lately, good enough that he can get baked by himself and not worry about spiraling. Instead he made a peanut butter marshmallow sandwich and listened to his most recent playlist all the way through like eight times and texted Robin for a while- she’s visiting family, lots of ‘Steve pls come rescue me pls ’- and now he’s on TikTok.
It’s not late-late. But it’s not early. And he knows Nancy and Jonathan are having issues- he heard about it from the kids who don’t get that gossip is not helpful to feelings- but he didn't know they went on a break. Until he gets the text.
10:46pm - 1 New Notification
Nancy Wheeler: Hey
Typing…
Nancy Wheeler: Haven't talked in a while. How are you?
Steve clicks the notif bar. He stares at the text. It’s not like he never talks to Nancy. She’s just not Baby <3 in his phone anymore. Hasn't been for a while. He used to wonder what Jonathan put her as in his phone.
Steve can scroll up to see previous texts- Hey i had a doctors appointment during third did you get the homework outline? And Lucas left his water bottle at our house! Mike has it with him
And, more recently: Happy Birthday! Hope it's a good one :)
But this feels different. This singular ‘hey’ in its own grey bubble kind of puts Steve on edge. He doesn't respond right away, figures he should text Robin to ask if he’s just being paranoid first but- shit she went to sleep didn't she. And while he’s typing out a “Hey when you wake up” message to Robin he gets another notif.
Nancy Wheeler: Jonathan and I are on a break
Then,
Nancy Wheeler: Sorry, I probably shouldn't be texting you haha. Just wanted some company i guess
Steve feels a hot flash of anger. Rolling in his stomach like lava. Jesus he’s too high to be this angry.
He picks up his phone again.
Types out “fuck you” and deletes it and then “thats understandable but maybe you should text one of your other friends” and then deletes it and then types out “why are you texting me we're not friends" and then deletes it and then-
Clicks back, scrolls down, and texts Billy.
You: R u still awake?
Steve gets a response within seconds.
Billy <3: aw do u miss me or smth?
Billy <3: gay
That makes Steve smile. Makes the anger cool down considerably, and he sits up a bit in bed.
You: Yes but also
You: Nancy texted me?
Billy <3: about what
Billy <3: about how she broke up with Jonathan?
You: H o w do you already know that
Billy <3: i know everything. Why’d she text you??
Steve gets another notif from Nancy. He doesn't want to open it.
Luckily, he doesn't have to right away. Billy calls him.
“No one’s home.” Is Billy's opener. “Speak freely.”
“Good evening to you too.” Steve says, relieved to have the sound of Billy’s voice to lean into.
“So what does Wheeler want?”
Steve’s thumb hesitates over the notif bar.
“She said her and Jonathan are on a break and she ‘wants company.’”
“Wow.” Steve can hear poorly concealed jealousy in Billy’s words. “That’s. Wow.”
“Don’t be j-”
“I’m not jealous.”
“Oookay.” Steve laughs a little. He still hasn't opened Nancy’s text.
“Are you going to respond?”
“No fucking way, man-” Steve starts, then another text.
Unread message: I need someone to talk to. I don’t know who else I could ask.
Steve’s brow furrows.
“What happened?” Comes Billy’s voice.
“She, uh.” Steve opens the chat finally. “Hang on.”
You: Hey
You: Seems like you're in a tough spot. Not sure I’m the right guy. Maybe you could talk about it with a closer friend?
Nancy: That’s just it.
Nancy: I don’t have any friends.
Nancy: I have no one else. Johnathon was the last person left I was close with and i fucking blew it. I have no idea what to do i'm lost and confused and i just really really could use someone to talk to.
Typing...
Nancy: Please
“Babe?” Billy again. “Yeah,” Steve exhales. “Nancy, uh. Sounds pretty bad actually.”
“She reeling you in with that act?”
“I don’t think it’s an act, Bills.” Steve sits up straighter. “Something’s wrong.”
He’s typing out a vague enough response when the next text comes in.
Nancy: I think I'm gay
Then-
Nancy: Can I call you?
I think I’m gay.
That’s. Okay. That’s… something. Something that kind of makes sense now that Steve thinks about it, connects a lot of dots Steve didn't know were floating around but.
Jesus, Nancy must be having a heart attack.
“Billy, I have to call you back.” Steve says, then realizes the kind of push back he’s going to get on that.
“Call me back?” High and mighty already. “You can't just ditch me with a ‘call you back’ when your ex is actively weedling her way-”
“She’s not weedling. She’s not doing well and she has no other friends.” Silence. “Please don’t pout-”
“I’m not pouting.”
“Aw,” Steve leans his head into the receiver a little. “If I say you look cute when you pout, will that hurt or help my case?”
“Hurt.”
“Ok, I promise I’ll call you back right after I talk to her.”
“You fucking better.”
Steve says “I love you” before he gets off the phone and is medium relieved to hear Billy say it back.
Steve calls Nancy. She takes a while to pick up. When she does, he can tell she’s been crying.
“You didn’t have to call.” Is the first thing she says. She sniffs right at the end.
“Seemed like you were having. A rough night.” Steve says. Her text hasn't fully sunk in, he’s thinking about all the times she called him crying. How they got more frequent right before the end.
“I shouldn't have bothered you, I’m sorry, you can go.” Nancy’s voice builds a little. She sounds frantic.
Steve can’t really feel soft feelings about Nancy cause all of them just piss him off or ice his blood but. He’s worried. “No, no it’s-” Then Steve hears the background noise. “Dude, are you driving?”
“I- w- yeah.” Nancy sounds a little defensive.
“Oh my god.”
“I just needed to clear my head! I know I shouldn’t have called it just…”
Steve steeled himself for the words he knew were about to come out of his mouth. No matter how much of a hothead Steve could be (not as much as Billy but still), he was still a total pushover about shit like this. “Do you. Want to come over?” Steve asked stiltedly. “If you're, you know, already driving around.”
Nancy sounded relieved when she said yes.
When Steve got outside to meet Nancy’s mom’s car’s headlights, it was raining.
“Hey,” was the first thing he said when she walked up.
Looking at Nancy doesn't do much to Steve anymore. Not the way it used to. Not the way looking at Billy does now.
Looking at Billy feels how Steve assumes people in the way-back-when felt when color TV was invented.
Nancy looks as washed out as Steve thinks she feels.
“Hi.”
“You wanna come in?”
Nancy hesitates. “I don’t. Want to impose.”
“It’s raining, Nance.”
She looks surprised, like she didn't notice. “Oh.” then. “Okay.”
Steve steps back as Nancy walks onto the smooth tile right in front of the front door. It’s quiet enough after the door closes Steve thinks he can hear her hair dripping onto the ground.
“So,” Steve says after a bit. “Did you-”
“I’m sorry.” Nancy says suddenly. But it’s not the panicked little “sorry’s” from earlier, it’s a single, earnest one.
“For what?” “Everything.” More tears are streaming down her cheeks now. “I know I shouldn't have bothered you, I didn’t- I wasn’t a good girlfriend. Or a good friend. I just. I thought maybe I would know who I was if someone else did, but I didn't. And I don’t have anyone else, and I remember when- when you told me you were bi when we were dating and I was weird about it but now i think I was just jealous- because- bec-” Nancy cut herself off, unable to keep going with the tears closing up her throat.
Steve swallowed pretty hard. “Because. You think, you’re gay?”
Nancy sat down on the floor.
“The floors all wet-”
“I know, Steve.” Nancy cut him off gently. He was familiar with the tone.
Steve looked at her, looked at the floor, and opted to sit next to her. The rain was hitting harder on the door behind them.
Nancy didn't seem like she had anything more to say. Steve tried to think of something to ask.
“Why, uh. Why do you think you are?”
“I don’t know if I am.” She said quickly.
“Why do you think you might be?”
She sighed, pushed the wet hair off her face. “You don’t have to talk to me about this. I figure it probably doesn't feel good to hear.”
Steve hadn't thought of that. If Nancy is gay, that means she probably wasn't ever actually into him. Not just after a while, but from ‘go,’ it wasn't the same for her.
“Not great.” Steve admitted. “But. It isn't about me.”
Nancy sighed again. “Why are you so nice?” She mumbled. “Both you and Jonathan.” Then she teared up again.
“I thought maybe.” Nancy started up after clearing her throat. “That I didn’t… feel as much because. I was just with the wrong person.” She glanced sideways, clearly feeling worse with every word. “But. I didn’t. I just. I felt the same. Like something was missing.”
“You always feel like that?” Steve was kind of surprised. “Like, with every relationship?”
“Romantic ones, yeah.”
The rain got louder again. “I was…” Nancy fought to say the next words. “I didn’t always feel like that.”
“With us?” Steve hopes a little. “Or with Jonathan?”
Nancy speaks a little softer, like it will soften the blow to Steve, to herself. “...With Barb.”
Billy was going to give Steve so much shit for falling for Robin and Nancy since it sounded like they were both gay. He already had gotten shit about Robin. “This is a problem unique to bisexuals.” had been Billy’s quip.
Nancy talked a bit more easily after that one admission. About why Barb's death hit her so hard. About why she felt bad for hurting Steve, how confused she was, how alone.
How she pushed everyone away except whoever held the position of boyfriend because she didn't ever feel right around people. But boyfriend seemed. Normal.
Steve was pretty familiar with feeling like he Should Do whatever was ‘normal. His parents weren’t exactly pleased when ‘being bi’ turned out to be an actual thing and not just a family conversation they could keep pretending they didn't have.
Nancy was crying again. Said she was sorry again.
Steve hugged her.
It was pretty awkward. He was trying not to touch her too much and her hair got his sweater wet, but she tucked her face against his chest like she always used to.
Something about that clicked. How hugs had always felt closer for them than kisses. How maybe they had been meant to be friends, and just misread the signs.
Maybe they could be friends now. Maybe.
Nancy pulled away and wiped her nose. “Thank you.”
“Yeah.”
Steve checked his phone to let Nancy fix her face a little and then winced at the sheer volume of messages from Billy that popped up on his screen.
“What’s up?’ Nancy asked, leaning back over.
“Oh, just Billy.”
“Oh god,” Nancy grimace. “He can’t have been pleased I came over.”
Steve opened the messages. “He’s not. But I told him it was important.” “You can. Tell him.” Nancy said tentatively. “If you want. About what we talked about. About me.” Billy was gonna get a kick out of this. But Steve felt more somber about it than Billy probably would.
It was weird.
He’d been in Nancy’s shoes. But he’d also been completely in love with her. So at once he was hurt and sympathetic.
But he also felt. Better.
Something about the two of them, Steve and Nancy, always seemed. Unfinished.
This was probably the close out they needed.
“I should call Billy back.”
“Of course.” Nancy looked almost embarrassed. “I can go-”
“Nah, stay a bit.” Steve was standing up, unlocking his phone to a slew of “wheeler has been on my shit list from day ONE” and “i know you’d never cheat like i know that i'm not crazy but my therapist said.” Makes Steve smile at his phone. “‘I'll make you tea or something."
