my brother’s falling down the alt right pipeline and i actually don’t know how to handle it. because i know responding with anger and disgust will just drive him further down that road, but it’s so hard to control my anger when out of nowhere, with no warning, he starts arguing with me over how women are not actually oppressed

#rn my dad's trying to explain women's issues to him because he's too anxious to talk to me :/#it was right after i got off a zoom meeting too #completely unprovoked #like dude let me breath i have zoom fatigue i am not in a state where i can have a meaningful discussion with you #and try to lead you away from dangerous ideologies #i feel like i failed as a sibling #but also it's scary just how dangerous the internet is #and how quickly you can be lead astray when you haven't yet developed critical thinking skills #i'm just so pissed and frustrated that this happened and he was susceptible to it #i dont think he's too far down it i think there's still hope to save him #but like wtf #unrestricted internet access should not be allowed to ppl who have not learned how to think critically #it's scary too because the alt right targets insecurity and fear and that's something ppl his age are just so susceptible to #and he suffers a lot with mental health and he spends a lot of time playing video games #so ofc an algorithm recognizes him as the perfect target for this type of content
