Another single Alec truther!! Yes to everything! One of 10 to use flirtation as their weapon oh boy I never really thought of it like that, like flirtation as Alec’s specialization. There is such a big gap chronologically between Berrisford Agenda & getting re-indoctrinated and s2 timeline and we know that Alec had missions with Biggs during that gap. I wonder what the source for that info is - I honestly doubt that Manticore would trust Alec enough afterwards to make him one of the soldiers that do seduction but idk I guess that’s canon (considering what Biggs says)? I always thought that flirting was just something Alec half picked up by himself on the side when he took verbal usage and whatever else assimilation classes they had, like observing typical masculine traits? (They had to have classes on gender roles didn’t they? In Manticore everyone is treated the same, as a soldier so? They had to learn it through teaching right? Oh god there’s a goldmine for thoughts there.) Anyway it’s definitely something that Alec learned, not something entirely natural to his character. (Then again he was already a young adult during Berrisford Agenda mission so not a blank slate… Being tortured/made into a obedient soldier after the 2009 escape and how he acts with Rachel does make him seem like a good, innocent little soldier.) But his experiences and missions after Berrisford Agenda have definitely made him adopt that snarky manner entirely and as a shield: it’s in his nature (learned nature, the contrast to Ben and between their experiences is stark). 

I’m not sure what you mean by saying that Alec doesn’t care to date two girls at the same time. That it doesn’t really bother him? There’s definite growth between Berrisford Agenda and the later episodes. He is frustrated to be drawn into Max and Logan’s drama: at that point he’s established his morals a bit more, and the fact that Max paints him to Logan as the guy who’d ’steal’ her from a relationship is bothering him. These are the people he’s let himself get attached to; of course it bothers him. It’s easier not to care what people think of you when you’re detached from them. 

Max and Alec are really similar in many ways, in that their arc goes literally from ’just looking out for myself’ to ’save everyone’ (roughly stating) and trying to do good in the world. Both are shaped by trauma in their life and both are detached - though Alec even more than Max. At the start of s1 Max has created a deep bond with the original X5 escapee group (and latched onto the thought of them) and of course with her friends in Jam Pony, but she still keeps herself at arms length from everyone to protect herself. Alec detaches himself from everyone (Manticore probably doesn’t let groups form in the way that Max’s unit had, though again Biggs poses some interesting questions as an exception), until there’s no home for him to go back to. After kind of failing to make it on his own and realizing he needs someone who shares some of his past he saves himself to the only raft he knows. I’m gonna ignore Biggs for a moment and say that Max, Joshua and even Logan are the first people who he lets himself have a real relationship with again. Logan as a character is absolutely pivotal to the series because he’s the catalyst through which Max (and later Alec) learns that despite your trauma you can do good in the world. (And Max of course teaches him some lessons about taking care of yourself once in a while over the world, too.)

thank you for validating my Crisis and i wish i knew how to! i’m sure i could fight with max/alec shippers over what i’m thinking but i’ve never been able to see the potential in them and at that point in the gifset they’ve just met, Alec has made max super Angry by giving her a virus that kills her boyfriend if they touch (yes i know sappy cliché) and idk they’re just not on good terms anyway. Alec is free and independent for the first time until this bad guy captures him and makes him kill three other transgenics (that’s what the soldiers are called) and bring their barcodes (from the back of their necks) as proof. At this point alec has one kill left and he’s running out of time and max is there so he battles with whether he’s going to save his own skin and kill max (or joshua, this other guy) or do the right thing 🤷🏽‍♀️ and then he makes max very Angry again because max has to bail him out. so there’s no Feelings involved in the dark angel scene, and so comparing that to a Destiel scene feels hmmmm. it doesn’t read as proof of destiel at all because even though max and Alec arguably flirted later and possibly could’ve become something in s3 they’re more like. Siblings who fight but can’t get rid of each other. BUT the parallel is still 🤯 i just don’t have the brain capacity to pick it apart better/outside of this framing rn
