Sometimes, it feels good to sell own brand products or sole distributor for a product. 

At least we don’t have direct competition or the most also indirect competition only. 

If we already have good reviews and high product sold units, we have full control over the price we want to sell or apply any marketing strategy we want. 

For example, I have one product that sold at rm50. Knowing customer want bigger size and washable type, I produce a variation to fulfil customer need selling at RM60. In order to attract more people buying, I produce another smaller size to sell at RM40. Even there’re 3 variations, 80% of my customers still buy the most expensive one knowing what customer actually wants. 

Looking at my monthly order, recently my supplier takes chances by increasing the cost of my highest range variation and reducing the cost of the other 2 cheaper types to make up for it. 

I tried to ask to maintain same price but couldn’t. Nothing much can be done looking at increase by supplier, increase cost of shipping, and increase of marketplace commission recently. Sometimes, I rather drop the SKU or don’t sell the product anymore if I’m just making a little profit. 

However, I decided to make my own strategy to increase the most expensive variation to the extreme price of rm70 with the cheapest variation at a high price gap to sell at rm45. The change is to hope customer buy less the most expensive variation and buy more the cheapest type as the cost of cheaper variation is lower now. I try to fight back my supplier by ordering less quantity for the highest price variation and order more cheapest price products. 

2 days has passed over my changes of the pricing. To my surprise, my customers are still buying the most extreme pricing of my product. So, don’t under estimate what customer really wants. Anyway, even customers still buying the most expensive product, I’m still benefiting from it as the total amount I increase is far more from the increase from my supplier. 

Anyway, I need to look at upcoming whole month data if I really profit more from the changes counting the total product sold and profit margin.

For the conclusion, if we have products like this, we really should try to play with the pricing to know what is the maximum profit we can make from our products.

Ok. Please ignore the unpleasantness that is my post below, am now going to do an honest and fair review of my order. I would like to support all refugee businesses here, and believe that the way to do this is to be kind without lying, because that one ultimately will backfire.

This was a terrific rice dish. The veggies were cooked so beautifully - you can taste the fried fragrance and also all the lovely flavors from the spices, herbs, lamb that they were cooked with. I especially enjoyed the potato, which is rare for me with slow-cooked potatoes.

The lamb was so incredibly tender that all it took was me prodding it a little with my fingers to make it fall right off the bone. The kitchen was super generous with the fatty bits, which are the best part imo, but took care to balance it with lean meat. Meat was very juicy and deeply flavorful.

I got what they endearingly called "sambal Arab" on the side. It's that sauce made from fresh tomato and chillies, but they localised the name to make it less intimidating for us. It's good, they definitely did not skimp on the ingredients, but I was hoping for it to be a bit spicier.

The garlic sauce was great and they gave me a full little tub of it too. Dunking the lovely caramelised slices of eggplant, carrot and potato in there changed my whole life.

The lamb broth, always welcome for when the rice is too dry and flavorless, was not at all needed for the rice, because every mouthful was so many different things coming together. You could have given me a plate of nothing but the rice, and I would have glanced a bit enviously at your kabsa lamb, but would have had a good time nonetheless. I ended up just drinking the broth separately because the rice was so perfect on its own. The broth was good but there was a bit of a floral aftertaste that I wasn't quite used to.

Overall, 9/10. Happy that this was my intro to maqlouba. It cost about RM45 for the whole thing included the additions of garlic sauce and sambal Arab, which isn't something people can afford often. But honestly, if you're thinking of spending that amount on mandi lamb at one of the many Hadramawts or Bedouin or something, you might as well get this here.

My first time trying maqlouba, and from the Palestinian chef many have been praising. Quite excited. Very generous and smells wonderful. Will review after done
