Chapter Twelve

Meanwhile in Holland, Aleister was in bed sleeping when he was awoken by a vision of a girl, Long deep bright Amethyst hair with light blue highlights throughout, jade green eyes, pale skin and a goddess moon pendant. She was in danger, and no one was there to help, she shifted into a pure white wolf with silver eyes to fight off the attacker, only to be stabbed and left to die.  He couldn’t shake the feeling that she was once someone of great importance to him, but he couldn’t place where. He went through his older books where he recorded his visions, before talking to his mother about the vision. The reaction she gave was heartbreaking. But she wouldn’t tell Aleister of the girl no matter how much he fought for the information. One way or another, he was determined to not only find and save the girl from his vision but to remember who she was to him.Jessica had fallen asleep in her brother's arms, and he brought her up to her room. He honestly was heartbroken. She had been putting up such a strong front for how many years now, how long had she been dealing with all this on her own?

 Once back downstairs Jeff was packed ready to leave but Matt, he didn’t want to leave, he told Jeff about Jessica’s breakdown, he also asked that they call Finn and get him to the house to stay with her till they returned. Finn wasn’t blood but he was close enough whether or not she realized it.Once they reached Finn he agreed to be their fast and to stay the two weeks with Jessica. Matt showed the room he could stay in, and explained that Jess was sleeping after a breakdown. He didn’t give too much detail on what it was about but Finn just waved it off. The brothers left, and Finn went downstairs to settle in. A few hours later Jess woke up and noticing the time almost didn't bother getting out of bed, that was until she smelled food cooking. Walking down stairs the smell of alfredo filled the air and small smile curled Jessie’s lips.  However the voice she met with was not one she expected.“Ah mo cheann beag! (my little one) You're awake. I hope you do like alfredo for dinner.” Finn smiled brightly as Jessica slowly sat down, confused as to why he was in her home let alone cooking dinner. “I ..ah.. Yeah alfredo is one of my favorite dishes, but Finn what are you doing here?” She wasn’t ungrateful for the company just confused, especially since her brothers weren’t home. 

Finn happily placed a blow of alfredo in front of Jessica and then grabbed his own before joining her at the table. “Oh little gem, your brothers called me and asked me to stay with you while they were gone. That reminds me I need to call them and let them know you’ve woken up and are eating.You know you gave Matt quite the scare there, and little gem what this I hear about you not only wanting to take a major but a minor as well? Have you decided  that college is right for you?” The smile on Finn’s face could melt the night away at the moment, and Jess couldn’t help but sigh.“Yeah, I guess I have. I want to major in sports journalism, and minor in culinary. Though I feel like it's putting my athletic skills to waste, but I guess it's the right thing to do. Who knows maybe someday, many years from now I’ll get my chance to be in the ring.” Jessica offered a sad smile as she ate. “Finn this is delicious I had no idea you were such a good cook.”The two spent the rest of the night talking about any and everything, until the early hours of the morning when Jessica finally decided it was time to sleep. She hugged Finn and wished him a restful nights sleep. 

Morning came, they both got up, got cleaned, eat breakfast, and then did morning workouts before jumping in ring together. This became the routine plus school and afterschool activities for the two weeks Finn stayed with Jessica. They had finally got closer Jessica allowed Finn in, she had told him all about her, well she left out key details, name, abilities, et cetera, but over all he understood why she was the way she was. She had wanted to dye her hair and even asked the demon for his help, though she doubted he’d be good at it she was pleasantly surprised when he was able to pull it off. Her once black hair with red framing her face was now a beautiful dark amethyst with almost light blue highlights.  He watched her at dance and gymnastics, he saw the way she used those skills in the ring.  He was impressed and knew someday she would get her chance in the ring, but for the time being in journalism, and with any luck backstage where her brothers worked would be best.  

Once the two weeks were over, Finn reported all things he noticed and any changes he saw. Jeff thanked him as he walked in the house with Matt following behind.Jeff and Matt putting their stuff in the laundry room and went to find Jess who was in her room music blasting, filling out applications for college. Truth the one she was working on was the one she wanted to go to most. It had both programs she wanted to take plus offered dance and gymnastics so she would be able to keep up part of her work out routine. It also had a great reputation for being supernatural friendly, which was beyond a plus. Once her music was unexplainably turned down she shot her head towards whom she thought would be Finn only to find Matt and Jeff chuckling at her. She jumped to her feet and ran at her brothers tackling them into a hug. She explained what she was doing and what college it was for. She still had to do certain things for the application and was worried about them but it would be okay she told her brothers, she had faith this was her college and she’d get in.Matt went downstairs to start dinner, Jeff went to do laundry and Jessica went back to her application. 

Once finished she threw her shoes on and headed out the door to drop it off at the post office. She was only supposed to be gone maybe 20 minutes, but when 20 minutes became 90 and 90 became two hours the brothers worried. They had hoped she pulled some absent minded stun like running into Finn and the going off with him, so they contacted the demon and see. When Finn panicked at the news of the missing girl the guys knew something was really wrong. Rushing around turning off the stove the guys along with a freaked out demon went towards the post office, that was when the two werewolves picked up on a scent.“Citrus, candied ginger, metallic.”

Both inner wolves cried out. Growling Jeff took the lead and ran faster towards the scent, there in an alleyway laid his baby sister in her wolf form with a stab to her abdomen. The other two males eyes widen at the sight, and Finn picked up the smell of another demon, one which was not his, along with the smell of….“Fuck! She was stabbed with something silver! You have to do something NOW!” Finn screamed. “I don’t know who did this but I will find out, fuckin’ asshole isn’t even part of my demon clan! I’ll kill him and make an example for all others who dare to try and hurt someone special to me!” Finn’s form had changed revealing his black and red skin,  Long sharp pointed razor like teeth that hung from his slightly stretched jaw, and tendrils of black energy that sprang from his head.Matt and Jeff stood back in shock. With a wavering voice Matt asked."Y...your the Demon King Balor? Wh...what do you want with Jess?" Matt shook his head this could not be happening. 

Balor stepped forward glaring at the oldest Hardy."To protect her! She's a rare hybrid the first in more than a thousand years, and only third to ever be made. She will be the difference maker one day. But she cannot do that if she's dead! Now one of you run home and grab her healing potions and first aid kit. I will do what I can for now to stop the bleeding but once done I will find who did this, break their bones, skin them then eat their fucking soul!" Balor growled with such passion and ferocity the ground vibrated.  Matt nodded, shifted and ran home for the asked for supplies. Balor placed his hands over the wound and began chanting accident spells in Gaelic. Where as the bleeding slowed and the wound began to close it was strong enough to heal her fully, Balor was a demon he wasn't here to heal the wounded he was here to inflict pain, well that was until he began following and gathering Intel on Jessica.  

Matt returned with the supplies and began putting pretty much everything Jessica had of healing on her wound. Once it started healing Jeff began to stitch the wound to ensure it wouldn't reopen.Balor pleased with these actions accompanied the family home. Before beginning his hunt for the asshole to hurt his friend. Returning to where Jessica was found, Balor once again searched the area more in depth, in an attempt to figure out what demon had done this. Having no luck, and returned to the Hardys home, he’d have to enter her mind to find the answers he sought. Jessica’s breathing was finally stable, but she remained asleep, and whimpering. Her brothers had no idea how to help at this point, they could only watch over their sleeping sister. 

Balor entered the home and went to Jessie’s room, acknowledging the brothers he informed them there were no leads in the alleyway, he did however mention that he could enter her mind to find the needed information so he could exact revenge. The brothers were torn, this wasn’t their mind to give permission to, but whom ever had tried to hunt and kill Jessica needed to be brought down, for all they knew there were more out there that could try again once word got around that she was still alive.With a grimince the brothers both gave their consent to Balor, but asked that he only go back about three hours if he could, whatever else was in her mind was hers to keep till she was ready to share. Though he wanted to know more about the girl he agreed to the stipulatio, sitting on her left side he pressed his fingers to her temple and chanted in a lananuge long forgotten as he went into her mind.

He could see Jessica getting ready to leave, she informed Matt she was going to the post office to drop off her application. She was happy as she walked humming a melody, she got to the post office and mailed off the application. Leaving she to go home she ran into Jack, having not seen him in a few months she went to speak with him, when a sinister smirk appeared on his face, he began insulting and berating her, he went to attack but she attempted to fight back, the attack continued into and down the dead end alleyway where she was found, back against the wall she shifted to try and get the upper hand. That was when Jack stabbed her with a silver dagger leaving her for dead, saying ‘ 

The mystic Bray’s bidding had been done.’ over an hour passes as she tries to stay conscious before falling into darkness.Balor pulls away now knowing what had happened, and recounts what he saw for the brothers, asking if they had ever heard for this Mystic Bray. Receiving a no from both brothers Balor strokes Jessica’s hair before swearing once again revenge for what has happened. He leaves in hopes that even though Jack has betrayed him, that he still goes to the same old hang arounds. Moving through shadows he’s finally able to spot Jack leaving a wrestling school. ‘Oh poor Jackie boy, you’ll never live that dream.’  Balor thinks. Sticking to shadows he follows Jack until he turns down a street that seems to be rather abandoned. Coming from the shadows Balor uses one of his tendrils and pull the traitor to him and bring him into a wooded area.  Smiling sickeningly sweet his long razor sharp teeth shining in the moonlight. Jack goes to speak but is cut off by a deafening growl and Balor’s words.“Is maith leat dom a bhrath agus dul i ndiaidh do dhuine a bhfuil cúram agam air? (You dare betray me and go after someone I care for?)” 

Balor laughs and licks his lips staring at the now trembling demon, wrapping a hand around his throat and speaks again in hushed growl. “ You know the punishment alone for betrayal but to harm someone of importance to me, someone I care for, of this will be fun.” Energy tendrils spin and hold Jack pulling at each arm and leg, almost as if he was going to be quartered. Jack screams obscenities in pain, whimpering an apology or three in the process. Not caring for Jack’s apologizes Balor himself stalks over to his pray, cracking his neck and knuckles. Delivering the first punch to Jack’s ribs and sickening crack can be heard indicating the ribs have broken, another blow to each side has now ensured all of Jack’s upper ribs have shattered. Jack’s breathing slows, which Balor notices, and not done with his fun or revenge he uses his abilities and remove the broken bone fragments from Jack’s lungs, this should keep him alive a little longer.

Next Balor shatters Jack’s pelvis, and another dreadful scream leaves Jack’s lips. Then his kneecaps oh Balor thought it best to use his tendrils till those crumbled, the entire time Jack cries and whimpers and curses, and Balor he just laughs. The shin bones and feet of Balor enjoys using his hands here, applying such pressure that he can actually feel the bones bend break and snap. Cocking his fist back Balor yet again delivers a blow but this time to Jack’s mouth, knocking the majority of his teeth out, and destroying his jaw. Trying of the game now, Balor finds it best to this. Using the tendrils that held each of Jack’s arms and legs in place he uses them to rip the pieces from Jack’s body, still smiling and licking licking his teeth. 

Of course Jack being a demon these did not cause death. It was now time for Balor’s favorite part. Standing over the bleeding mess of what was his former demon, Balor places his hand on Jack’s broken ribs and forces his soul from his body, As the soul leaves Jack howls in pain, its almost more painful than everything else Balor had done to him, once out Balor happily devours the soul, something that Balor hasn’t done in many years.  The body and its parts still lay on the ground, and thus now its time for clean up. Balor sets the body a blaze and watches it become ash.

Bisu FPVOD Analysis

I continue to study Brood War pros...because they were just unparalleled in terms of their execution. The goal is to study these pros, learn their habits, and apply the logic to Starcraft 2, within the capacity of my hands. I do hope to start recording myself...

0:00 - 2:00; Bisu’s spamming habits. Though it does look like this portion is useless, if I know anything about Bisu, this does tell me a lot about how he uses his hands, and more importantly, his hotkeys. StarCraft is all about good habits, and the “button-click, button-click” combo happens a lot in Brood War. You’ll notice that Bisu is constantly spamming “Set Rally Point” on his Nexus, since that’s the only button-click combo possible at that point in time. The goal is to learn the timing, and to be able to do it quickly. How many people do you know that can alternate index fingers on both of their hands that quickly? f.f.f.f.f.f.f.f.f.f.f.f.f.f.f.f. I can do it quite quickly myself, but Brood War had a bit of lag before you could press the left mouse button for the action to register. He’s practicing the timing; the more reps the better. Also, the spam pattern was very interesting. It’s constantly fluctuating between the Nexus and the Pylon every few seconds, and then once Gateway is done, between the Nexus and the Gateway every few seconds. This tells me that Bisu is looking at the bar on the screen, trying to tell himself when he needs to build the next building. Here is an advantage Brood War has over Starcraft 2 - Starcraft 2 encourages multiple buildings on one hotkey, which does not allow you to see the progress bar. Even Bisu, a progamer at this level, cannot keep everything in his head (no one can), so the goal is to create habits that give us constant reminders about what we need to do.

**Notice how he hotkeys the Cybernetics Core as well...I’ll talk about this in a bit. Also, another thing to notice is that when Bisu went to build his Cyber Core or his Gateway, the screen skipped the way it did BECAUSE HE WAS USING A SCREEN KEY. Good habits! All about those good habits! No mouse scrolling. Flash uses mouse scrolling, but that’s just Flash.

3:18 - 3:25; Doing the build whilst microing the Probe. This is incredible, these are the sequences I study the most. IN SUPER SLOW MO, FRAME BY FRAME. Just before he goes up the ramp, his selection is actually his gateway, checking on the status of his dragoon, and whether he can make the next one or not. He then tells the probe to go up the ramp, and goes back to his base to tell his Probe to build a building - but he abandons this thought the instant the Probe starts getting shot. Then he checks his Gateway again, as the Probe is heading down the ramp. Sends his probe to the “magic spot” on the ramp (there’s a spot where you can see up the ramp but the marines can’t shoot you), goes back to his gateway screen to hotkey the dragoon, and then attack moves the dragoon to Flash’s base. At some point at 3:23, his screen is back on his probe, but he’s queuing up the next probe. I don’t know if you saw it or not, but then he rallies his Nexus to his expansion. He then cancels the rally, makes a Pylon, and sends his scout towards his expansion. This all happened in less than 5 seconds.

Bisu scouted that Flash went for Factory first expand, which makes sense on that map, so he plopped down his own expansion. Reasonable enough.

3:55 ;Microing the dragoon against Flash’s marine. Shoots once, checks the Marine’s health (you couldn’t see enemy healthbars, you actually had to click on the enemy’s units), and then decides “I don’t need to micro,” so goes back to his Natural to throw down his nexus. Sees the marine die on the minimap, tells the Dragoon outside of Flash’s base to advance up the ramp, and tells his current Dragoon to stay outside of his base to deny the SCV scout.

4:10; This is the first moment where Bisu is actually doing 4+ things at the same time, and based on his bottom screen, his eye movements can be reverse engineered. First he tells his Goon to chase the SCV, then sends his natural probe back to mine. A brief checkup/adjustment on the Goon at the natural, though he is watching it both via the minimap to see if any brown dots appear, but also he can check by tapping its hotkey to check its health. A bit of what looks like Nexus/rally spamming, okay Bisu, and then he checks his Cyber Core for Goon range before building dragoons out of both of his gateways. Did you see that? It was lightning quick. The screen almost didn’t even have time to show it.

4:22; Bisu seems to be spending most of his screen time at his base. Dare I say it - BW units don’t need their screen on them as much while microing! That’s because while micro was important, the fights were generally slower. Also, I don’t know if you could see it, but the Robo is supposed to go down when Goon range is about 3/4ths of the way done. Bisu, whilst doing everything else, was tapping the Cybernetics Core hotkey.

This upcoming sequence, in my opinion, is one of the most telling about Bisu’s incredible multitasking ability. Let’s break it down:

Hotkeys Robo -> Second nexus rally point adjustment (spam)-> First nexus rally point adjustment (spam) -> Quick checkup on both goons -> Draws box near edge of screen to see if there’s an SCV there (sometimes you can box something that you can’t see) -> Boxes probe near second goon and tells him to assimilator walk to natural -> Micros goon chasing SCV [attempts to build goon]-> sees red minimap indicator, jumps to goon outside Flash’s base[attempts to build goon] -> Is microing goon away from tank, but checking hotkeys every half second or something [nexus/gateway]-> builds probe and dragoon -> skips back to base to tell probe to mine.

This sequence lasted from 4:22 - 4:32, I implore you to slow it down and really look for all of these things. It’s kind of incredible how well he does it.

Then he micros a probe and dragoon to kill the Scout worker. Notice he’s not tapping here - this information is crucial, Bisu is going for a Reaver drop, and it is essential that Flash does not see it, nor count Bisu’s Dragoons, which was why he hid them back. It was important enough for Bisu to let his macro slip just a little (which it didn’t).

5:14; Hey, he misses shift deselects too LOL. Jk...he’s microing for a little bit after hotkeying his second gateway, adjusting his units here and there. Notice how he is constantly spamming (okay, maybe not constantly) - you do hear the Robotics Facility noise quite a bit - he wants to throw down the Observatory instantly

At this point, Bisu doesn’t really have to move out, so he’s just cycling through all of his hotkeys, making sure he’s doing everything he has to. The INSTANT the Obs Bay finished - two of them get plopped down.

5:42; Sends the probe out to make expansion, while adjusting the dragoon - BUT BUILDING MORE DRAGOONS with his hotkeys. It looks like Bisu’s adjusting his units here and there, and then just spamming through all of his hotkeys, checking on when to build stuff. Hotkeys the obs the instant it pops.

6:56; Observer sequence. Notice how he’s controlling the observer and keeping his screen there, clicking on the Terran stuff he needs to click on, but the entire time, he’s tapping his nexuses. And the moment a probe pops, he jumps back to send him to mine, then comes right back to the observer. Normally Bisu would also be spamming his gateway hotkeys, and here’s the really interesting part. Flash’s build makes it look like he’s going for the fast 3rd CC, so Bisu cancelled a few of his units in order to get his third Nexus up. But then he sees the SCV throw down a Starport instead - instant restart of all of his units, and throws the Forge down instantly.

8:10; Goons moving out. This is REALLY where we start to pick up and see 400+ APM Bisu. Notice how he puts all of his tech structures near each other - since Terran is a lot less mobile in this game, it’s a lot less dangerous because you don’t have to worry about them being killed off. Also, there’s the added benefit of being able to see them every time you skip back to your base (which is a lot). Controls some units for a bit, checks both of his nexuses (nexi), and then ONLY ONE of his gateways. This is an interesting thing to do, where you queue up all of your gateways at the same time, but only check one of them. It makes perfect sense. Then he checks the probe at his third, checks Flash’s third, before dropping two gateways.

You know, I just realized that this one video I could spend hours breaking down, so I’ll just highlight a few general trends I’m seeing.

-Spending most of his time controlling his units, or “advancing in the game,” such as getting more bases, or teching, etc. -During moments such as 14:45, when he mass recalled into the main, his focus was mainly on the micro, but here and there he would tap his gateways and try to make units. At one point, when he thought he could look away for a bit, he actually threw down a bunch of gateways. -During probe time (which was earlier) -He seems to not miss a beat on his minimap -In most instances when he’s looking away from his base, he is tapping his hotkeys -Later on, when his army eats up too many hotkeys, he makes as many excuses to jump to his home screen as possible, and then clicks on buildings to check their progress. Though his mouse is INSANELY quick.

It doesn’t really seem like he’s “microing while macroing,” or “macroing while microing.” He doesn’t put one over the other. It just seems like he’s playing Starcraft.

He can skip back so quickly that his units don’t miss a beat.
