Just because I am having super-delicious homemade rhubarb cake right now.

Quick question for all the boys: what nickname would they give to their partner?
ALL?? OK BABE I GOT YOU. but like I can't do an "all" post again there's just too many now lol.
Underfell!Sans (Red): Babe (all), sweetheart (for the shy or introverted babes), doll/dollface (for the feisty babes)
Underfell!Papyrus (Edge): Love (but very sparingly, he’s not fond of nicknames):
Underfell!Wingding (Fell): My dear / My love / My other half / My heart (all emphasis on the my)
Underfell!Asriel (Prince): doesn’t use nicknames unless explicitly asked to. Might refer to you as partner / mate / spouse however.
Underfell!Grillby (Fellby): Sweet girl/boy/pup & Little firecracker.
Underswap!Sans (Blue): Not fond of nicknames but will occasionally call you his puzzle piece. If you ask him to call you something specific, he will.
Underswap!Papyrus (Stretch): Honey, honey bear, honey pie, spicy honey, and if he wants to be ornery / annoy others in public. . .honey bunny wunny.
Underswap!Wingding (Thread): My dear, my little patchwork, darling, marshmallow / cinnamon spice / pumpkin pie.
Underswap!Asriel (Buttercup): Dummy (affectionately). He gets embarrassed by nicknames.
Mafiafell!Sans (Hit): for feminine presenting partner: doll face, sweetheart, lil lady, cookie. For masculine presenting partner: pal, buzz, lil gent, dish. For neutral, mixture of both depending on his mood.
Mafiafell!Papyrus (Boss): He doesn’t do nicknames, per se, but instead waxes poetry for you about you in private. He’d also prefer it if you didn’t give him nicknames in public. Reputation is very important to him and his family and he expects you respect that.
Mafiafell!Wingding (Don): Muse, my dear, darling, puppet, marionette, toy
Mafiafell!Asriel (Heir): Meadow, my haven, my sunshine (if early riser) / my nightfall (if late sleeper)
Slumbertale!Sans (Slumber): Buddy, chum, pal, bucko, friend, fella who naps with me, pillow, blanket, kitten (if you nap often) / puppy (if you do not take naps often), the one who makes plans, my worser half (jokingly), my alarm clock, etc. He’ll come up with obscure and odd nicknames depending on your routine together.
Slumbertale!Papyrus (Mayor): MY RIGHT HAND! There is no bigger compliment because this fella HATES to rely on anyone so if you’re his right hand then you’re someone as invaluable to him as his own right hand.
Slumbertale!Wingding (Abyss): Dewdrop.
Slumbertale!Asriel (Unending): My dream come true, dreamer, buttercup, butterscotch, butter biscuit
Slumbertale!Grillby (Sleeby): His nickname will be dependent on your favorite drink. For example if you like pina coladas he’d call you his sweet coconut, and if you like soda he’d call you his pop-heart.
Horrortale!Sans (Axe): No nicknames unless you specifically tell him to. He just doesn’t think about it.
Horrortale!Papyrus (Sugar): My little meatball, Strawberry jam, rhubarb pie, my berry, love, heart, SOUL
Horrortale!Wingding (Ghost): my heart / our hope
Horrortale!Asriel (Yarrow): butterscotch, cinnamon bun, and sun drop
Horrortale!Grillby (Calcifer): no nicknames!
Reapertale!Sans (Reaper): Nothing set in stone. He'll come up with one time nicknames for puns. Like if you were burned alive & died to met him, he'd call you hot stuff. If you drowned he'd call you a mermaid with lungs. Things along those lines.
Sciencetale!Sans (Doc): he tried nicknames. It came out awkward because he kept stuttering and he was deeply embarrassed so he never did it again.
Sciencetale!Wingding (Professor): Treasure
Siren!Sans (Siren): That’s a human concept, so he wouldn’t choose any. You can tell him what you want him to call you and he’ll accommodate.
Siren!Wingding (Apex): Same as above.
Dustttale!Sans (Dust): Idiot, fool, daydreamer, dreamer, (and very rarely when he thinks you aren’t listening) my miracle
MASTERLIST (HCS & REQUESTED SCENARIOS)

Help me
Everyone gets really cute names
I get RHUBARB
(I love it)
But I’m wondering what the god of nicknames would call me
(You)
Hm, i feel like you are like a breath of fresh air, so I would maybe call you something related to fresh-tasting foods, like mint. But we already have enough herbs, so I would say you're fizz. You are fun to drink, fresh to the feel, and remind me of summertime. Also, I'd think you'd be a killer mohito. OMG THATS IT YOURE A MOHITO MINT AND FIZZ COMBINED with a little bit of Bacardi, because poetry always has some rum taste to it LIKE BRO

Hello! Rhubarb here :3 hey it’s Rhub and Rip! ^^
On that note, Sappho would’ve loved your fic…it’s like poetry and reads like a psalm with all the notes and details of a well constructed sonnet. Anyways, how are you? 🥰
I do believe everything u write eats and leaves zero crumbs 😊👩‍❤️‍💋‍👩
Many affections extended to u with my warmest regards!!
R 🌱
Hello Rhubarb - I quite like your name :) I am doing well, thank you; I hope you’re faring the same. I’ll admit I enjoy the thought of Sappho’s approval; we’d have great fun she and I. Its only a shame we’ve lived in different times.
Anyway! Hopefully I continue to “eat” and bring you some joy. Stop by again soon - and thank you once more for your dear appreciation.
With piping hot regards, Ripley x

So it's somehow the end of May? Not sure how that happened, even though I have been busy so of course the time has flown by! Things done this last month include hosting family multiple times, visiting my first cat café, visiting family, wedding reception, and baking my first rhubarb pie. Somehow I managed to fit 9 books and 2 DNFs in there, and was very good about not taking too many ARCs home. I didn't even buy anything!
Also, this is the first time I think I've ever underpacked physical books for a holiday. I thought for sure that the SF book I popped in my bag would last me at least three days but no, A History of What Comes Next was a fast read and lasted one. Thank goodness for Libby and my cache of T. Kingfisher e-novellas, is all I'm saying. Reading those back to back got my reading goal back on track for the year.
Novel is still progressing apace. Digger is still not shipped. It is reading outdoors weather but I've yet to do so. Nothing else to report.
And now without further ado, in order of enjoyment…
Magisteria - Nicholas Spencer
A history of the interactions between science and (Western) (mostly Christian) religion.

I am being brave and trying new things (poetry) and sharing the result. The impetus is Storytelling Collective’s April Daily Poem challenge, but I am using a a Carly Rae Jepsen song title generator instead of their prompts.

Let's Sort The Whole Thing Out (04/10/24)
There's trepidation in naming a thing, by giving something a name you expose it to all the possible pitfalls.
Most things grow in the sunlight, And it's good to bring things into the light, air things out, discuss them in the open.
But things do flourish in the dark. Rhubarb tastes better and is more tender grown in darkness, and grows so fast you can hear it.
So maybe this thing can stay hidden. At least for now, and when it is revealed maybe it will be all the better for the seclusion.

hello lovely <3
do you have any current favourite perfumes to recommend?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hi darling!! 🌹🌹
It’s summer, so right now my favourite go to perfume is No5 Eau Première! It's so fresh, so fizzy-sparkling. Refreshing, elegant, sensual. A veil glittering with dew drops or champagne and on the skin, a sensual, creamy woodiness with sweet yellow flowers - yet all so understated! Never overwhelming! I swoon, I moan, I sparkle.
Imagine a girl with perfect glossy hair in heeled sandals and a flirty little outfit that's all straight lines and pastels (a-line skirt, matching mini blazer and a rosy top for example) - she's got a full calendar and an iced coffee with almond milk, she's got a huge bag and places to be and is too chic and pretty to feel the heat. That's Eau Première.
~🌹~
Another easy reach is Eau Tendre, when I’m feeling a little rosier. It's such a burst of refreshing sour-sweetness in the opening, juicy fruits that give way to a powdery note that's so gentle and sensual, yet still fresh! It's lighthearted, girly, but manages to be blush-pink without being sugary sweet. I catch whiffs of it throughout the day and it's so uplifting!!!
Imagine a girl in a fluttering outfit, maybe a hyper chic maxi dress or a romantic little thing with volants - anything that'll catch the breeze. She's strolling through a cool, flower-sweet garden, she's got a head full of poetry but is down to earth enough to carry around a glass bottle of lemonade (froth-bubbling, maybe rhubarb or mango or something else fun). Fresh, sweet, cool. That's Eau Tendre.

This lunchtime I'm going to stare into the abyss and think about how much fantasy worldbuilding is centered around classifying factions by traits/abilities. You know how it goes: In the magical world of Dumptyfuck, there are five kingdoms: the Squeem, who are introverts with fire powers, the Ploot, who are extroverts with water powers, the Bunglety, who are blah with blah powers, the Grimp, who are socially avoidant and can levitate kitchen appliances with their minds, etc. For centuries, the 5 kingdoms have fought for the title of SUPREME ASSMONGER. However, everything changes when Bibbity, an unlikely Squeem, falls in love with Flange, an outcast Bunglety, blah blah blah rhubarb rhubarb gotta meet the ideal character limit for an Amazon book blurb.
Incidentally, I am saying this as someone who loves AtLA, which is probably the best example of 'there are N factions and they must kung fu fight'. There are great reasons for having neatly-defined factions beyond 'teenagers love this shit because then they get to do quizzes that tell them if they're a Dumptyfuck or a Squeem'. If done properly, it means the setting should have clearly defined magic rules that still allow a bit of leeway for creativity, providing a 'rock/paper/scissors' framework for combat that the author can then subvert. (And you can't subvert expectations unless those expectations have been set beforehand.)
But man I recently tried to sit through a youtube vid where a critic described the factions of Lightlark and I felt like I was having to listen to Vogon Poetry. I'm not even convinced yet that Lightlark is actually bad (since I haven't read it!), but I didn't get too far into the video before I decided, 'got it, so the setting is 'Changing: The Dreaming' barfed on the coat of 'Avatar: The Last Airbender', I am now ready to move on with my life and go back to thinking about better books'.

Bonjour et bienvenue from Bar-sur-Aube where the weather is cloudy and 10c. The house is now back to the quiet place it was before, not that it was rowdy when my family were here but a girl of 4 years can chatter incessantly and I found myself worn out with having to think and talk so much. We spent a lovely time at Easter and it is a distant memory but my life here goes on and as always I keep myself busy.
Last Sunday, my new friend Maud, picked me up at 11:45 and drove me to a fantastic restaurant overlooking one of the lakes. It was a bitterly cold day so we hurried inside. I had already seen the menu online so had an idea of what I was going to eat, I was not disappointed “filet de bar” was delicious and we both chose strawberry and rhubarb crumble for dessert. It was amazing how we sat and chatted for over three hours, then took a walk alongside the lake, before returning “chez moi” for tea and cake. She left at 20:05 and I, for one, had had a wonderful day.
The remainder of the week saw me cutting grass, overseeding the grass (or as it may turn out, just feeding the birds), sorting out strawberry plants, raspberry canes (yes new shoots have appeared) I have added new compost with feed and am hoping for a bumper crop this year 😉. I planted peas, rocket, radish, lettuce and beetroot, the rocket and some radish are poking through 😳, the broad beans are coming on too. Three tomato plants have been potted up and as always I am hoping for great things. The gardens are full of colour from the tulips, daffodils, primroses, violas and cowslips (which are now appearing in the grass). I know I must sound boring, but it is these little things that bring so much pleasure into my life.
I had been to my knitting group with the French ladies, I am looking forward to the BBQ and also to the “fete” at a village outside town, where some of my knitted items will be on display and for sale. I am busy stitching up at the moment (the job I hate) I think that if I get the items all finished off I will enjoy whatever I knit or crochet next. I return to knitting with the refugees this coming week, on a different day, but hopefully my ladies will be available.
I am having the mega video call this afternoon, with my friends in Bristol, we will be discussing my upcoming visit to the UK. In the almost 60 years since Star Trek was first aired, I really do wish someone had found the way to “beam me up, Scottie” it would make travelling so much more fun 😂. I think it will be aeroplane one way and train the other, the thought raises my stress levels (which is not good for the old “ticker”). Anyway more on that in the next few weeks.
The “Trainee Solicitor” moved into his new home on Friday. When I say moved, I use the word lightly, as it is a bit like camping……. He is hoping that his furniture (stored at his father”’s house) will be delivered soon 🤔. I have to admit the house is absolutely beautiful. There are still jobs to be done but what has been done is stunning. He had a decorator in painting the staircase and he noticed that the second bedroom had no carpet on the floor. He said that he had a piece of carpet which he felt would be big enough for the room, it had been laid previously but was in very good condition, I think he is bringing it over today 😊.
Todays piece of poetry is “On the World” by Francis Quarles (1592-1644)
“The world’s an inn; and I her guest.
I eat; I drink; I take my rest.
My hostess, nature, does deny me
Nothing, wherewith she can supply me;
Where, having stayed a while, I pay
Her lavish bills, and go my way.”
E
So having stayed with you a while, I will bid you all adieu and take the time for my walk this morning plus go and “talk to my plants”.
Jusqu’à le semaine prochaine.

Daydreaming about my tiny future home with a garden where I can grow vegetables and rhubarb and herbs for my tea and I have a kitchen where the oven is always preheating and there's fresh loaves of bread and hand made butter and cheese and I'm kneeding the pastry dough and I'm sitting in the window reading a book and getting caught in a daydream and I'm writing poetry and petting my dog and watching whatever tv I want or sitting in silence and I can just be alone by myself with no one else around at all.

The Best Perfume To Wear Based On Your Zodiac Sign
Finding your signature perfume can turn out to be an expensive affair, consisting of tons of trial and error. Trust me, I’ve been there. One moment I’m loving a particular scent, and the next moment I’m wondering if I can find something better. Even though I very conveniently blamed the indecisiveness on the fact that I’m a Libran, truth be told, I never actually found a scent that felt like it was ‘made for me’. Until now that is. I’ve recently been taking inspiration from the stars to guide me in the right direction, and so far I have not been disappointed.
This is why I’m here to do the same for you. Whether you’re an earth sign who prefers woody fragrance, or a water sign who likes refreshing scents, here are some perfume recommendations that are bound to get you hooked. Scroll down to find your signature scent.
Perfume For Aquarius (January 20 - February 18)
Element: Air
Ruled by Uranus, the planet that governs innovation, technology, and rebellion, Aquarius are known for their honest, creative, and mysterious personalities. The intellectuals are drawn to scents that are eyebrow-raising and have an element of surprise. The Mugler Angel Eau de Parfum is a fun gourmand that incorporates the essence of Berries, Bergamot, and Patchouli creating a unique scent that will cater to Aquarian’s distinctive personality.
Perfume For Pisces (February 19–March 20)
Element: Water
Represented by the fish, Pisceans are sociable, outgoing and artistic. From a young age, they are drawn to music and poetry. That’s why it comes as no surprise that Pisceans are attracted to fragrances that have a creative undercurrent to inspire and arouse their senses. Perfect By Marc Jacobs is a one-of-a-kind scent that will help Pisces channel their inner goddess with every spritz. The sweet scent of Rhubarb and Narcissus mellowed by Almond Milk, Cashmeran and Cedar is the perfect scent for the sensual Piscean.
Perfume For Aries (March 21 - April 19)
Element: Fire
Ruled by the planet Mars, these fire signs are bold, passionate and born leaders. Give them any task, and watch them execute it with utmost dedication. Aries kick starts the spring season, which is why it’s fitting to give them the Fleur Musc For Her By Narciso Rodriguez – a dynamic and spectacular interpretation of a modern-day flower bouquet. Pink pepper introduces the aroma of the fragrance. Rose, Musk and Peony round out the heart notes, which dries down to a base of Patchouli, Violet and Amber.
Perfume For Taurus (April 20 - May 20)
Element: Earth
Ruled by the planet Venus, Taurian's are lovers of opulence. This earth sign's idle fragrance would be one that makes them feel liberated while also emphasizing their tender side. The My Burberry Black is a medley of Jasmine, with touches of Peach and Rose, set against notes of Amber and Patchouli that play to Taurian's love for elegance.
Perfume For Gemini (May 21 - June 21)
Element: Air
Ruled by the planet Mercury, and represented by a set of twins, Geminis are known to have two very strong personalities. If you want to please a Gemini, you need to give them a scent that tickles their senses. The Love Story By Chloé is composed of fresh notes that will keep Gemini asking for more. Clean and fresh, this one is composed of Neroli, Orange Blossom and Jasmine from Madagascar, which will keep this earth sign intrigued.
Perfume For Cancer (June 22 - July 22)
Element: Water
Ruled by the moon, Cancerians are highly emotional and suckers for a good romance. Sweet, romantic fragrances are ideal for passionate Cancerians. Think comforting, sugary scents that make the Cancerian feel at home. Candy By Prada is a sensual, sweet and warm gourmand perfume with opening notes of musk, layered with vanilla and caramel – perfect to allow the warm and fuzzy Cancerian step out of their shell.
Perfume For Leo (July 23 - August 22)
Element: Fire
Represented by the ferocious lion, Leos are loud, vivacious and never miss an opportunity to be the center of attention. Often known as astrological divas, Leos love anything that’s elegant, upscale, and glamourous. These Fire signs tend to gravitate towards scents that are bold and statement-making. The Libre Intense By Yves Saint Laurent was created for an intense woman living her roaring freedom and following her instinct. Remind you of anyone? Damn right, Leo!
