Duskcourse Controversial Takes - 3
There is actually nothing wrong with "fakers" or endogenic systems using DID/OSDD-1 resources.
Yes this includes therapy for DID/OSDD-1
Yes this includes specialists for DID/OSDD-1.
Yes this includes community made resources.
Yes this includes them using resources for Systems.
Yes this includes products made to aid people with dissociation and DID/OSDD-1.
Yes this even includes the ability to take part in studies, events, and support groups.
At first upon seeing this post there are many people who would quite frankly refer to me as a monster who wants to see everyone with my disorder suffer and hurt. A lot of people (especially those who are able bodied) have preconceived notions about the impact of resources being used by a variety of people including those who may have no relation to the condition whatsoever. Yeah I'm saying singlets can also use our resources.
As someone who's physically disabled and lives with my partner who is also physically disabled I am deeply acquainted with ways to make treatment and aid for our conditions more accessible and ways we can contribute to aiding others. First of all most people live in a capitalistic society to some extent. Things cost money and there needs to be a demand for things. One small thing that can lead to more prevalence of mobility aids is simply for more people to buy them. The more often they're bought the more use they get- the more available they become.
Im the case of someone not needing a mobility aid, buying one can in some small part help accessibility. This is true even when the intentions of the purchaser are not good and they're planning to fake a disability for attention. Faking itself is a massive problem and horrible to do, but it doesn't take away resources. It doesn't destroy the lives of the disabled people around them- it makes them a fraud and a liar, but we are not destroyed nor swayed by frauds.
I take these principles and apply them as well to mental health. If there's a higher demand for education on DID and specialists to treat it, how could I not see that as a win? Even if it's because of "fakers" or endos or malingerers, or anything you want to call people who may technically not fit the bill of "needing" it. Sure there's some people who will take the prevalence of "fakers" and endogenics and use that as an excuse not to treat patients but they're the type of person who shouldn't have their license in the first place considering a refusal to treat their own clients due to being easily swayed and influenced by things like social media is a glaring display of an inability to actually take their job seriously or be mature enough for their occupation.
As much as you may want to complain that "this doctor wouldn't treat me!" you blaming the failure of the system to allow such a terrible person into the line of work on the people your own failure of a doctor balmed for their inadequacy and inability to treat you. I've been groomed by a therapist before, but I don't refuse to believe that there's any such thing as a good therapist! Not for I blame any of the people they blame for their actions.
When my psychiatrist refused to test me or even consider medication for my psychologists concerns of Bipolar, I didn't blame people faking or being over medicated on it. I don't have to blame innocents for my psychiatrist being weird about medication and wanting me to speak to a health professional during my next manic episode and wait to treat it until a massive disaster happens next time instead of just a few hundred page manifestos on people I was convinced were evil who were literally just normal.
Endos and people you might consider "fakers" using resources make those resources more common and more accessible.
If you want to see things get better then you need to accept that you're not special and if something helps someone that's AMAZING no matter why it helps them. I would love to see treatment be more and more accessible, I would love to see more and more studies come out both on DID and those who don't have it. I would love to see so much, and live in a world where our condition isn't so stigmatized that some therapists will refuse to even take on a client with it when they're not going for DID treatment.

hiii could u write a vance and a transmasc reader ? :D
Vance x Transmasc! Reader
Tumblr media
TW: Period-typical transphobia, use of the t slur. I would also like to preface this by saying that I am transgender, so please don't come after me for using the slur. I do not use it to describe actual transgender people myself, I've only used it in this story to imitate how things were in that period of time. Oh yeah also D/n= Deadname
Personally, I headcanon Vance as Bisexual. He probably leans a bit more towards the fem attracted spectrum, but if he's honest, he just thinks that if he finds a person hot, then they're hot, female or male
He's very much closeted about this fact considering it was yknow- the 70's.
I feel like he probably would've been dating you before you started to transition or present as masc.
When you came out to him, he was definitely a little bit confused at first. He loved you though, and in the end, you being a girl or a boy didn't change that.
Since there weren't very many resources at the time, he would definitely try and help you bind. He would buy all the stuff so that it didn't seem suspicious to your parents.
He would try and teach you how to act more "masculine". He would try and teach you how to deepen your voice.
If anyone even looked at you weird, or say anything remotely hinting at making fun of you, he beat the shit out of them. "My God, did D/n's boobs get smaller? What is she, a tranny?" That person barely made it out of the fight before someone pulled him off of them. Vance ended up breaking two of their ribs, and one of their arms.
He didn't go around outing you, because he understood how dangerous that was. However he still gave nasty looks to whoever would deadname you or use the wrong pronouns. But he was very careful to not expose you in front of everyone.
He would definitely cut your hair himself, since your parents wouldn't let you get it done professionally. I have a headcanon that his moms a hairdresser, thats why his hair is so fucking amazing.
I'm not sure what else to say. Overall, Vance loved you, whether or not you were a boy or a girl.
