(Response) @ask-noonescity
Noelle was a bit of shocked when Erebus was in disbelief that Lumen the Ho-Oh she met before has been even disappeared. Although, she recalls something when she was here.
Y-yes, I saw him when I was in Gala with Rim...
But I didn't have intention to date him or anything. I'm just when I came, he mumblin' about "not being out in decades..." Anyway, when I came with a drink, I gave him and he mentions that he has a wife. I think she was here, but couldn't spot it... OH, SORRY, did I said too many? Anyways, I'm not sayin' if you're both related or not I'm just have...very weird artistic instincts... Also, another Ho-Oh? Would like to hear it more...only if you don't mind of course.

Favourite 5 Saezuru Scenes
I recently reread Saezuru for the umpteenth time and just needed to gush about it like a crazed person who constantly hallucinates about Yashiro being happy and soOooOOooo.................
1. Why now? (Chapter 25)
These 3 panels kill me always... although it's the entire chapter 25 actually, and not just these panels. This broke me when I first read it nearly a decade ago, and it breaks me every time I reread it. I recently just listened to the drama CD for the first time and wanted to hear how this scene played out (a.k.a. wanted to hear Yashiro moan wkegh;ghwle) and I did not expect to start bawling and sobbing uncontrollably when his flashback appeared. WITH THE MUSIC AND EVERYTHING. THEY DID NOT SPARE ME. FUCK. What was supposed to be a tender and gentle and loving and intimate scene between them turned into Yashiro facing the effects of his childhood trauma -- that will never cease to hurt me. Doumeki saying "kashira, kashira, kirei" right before that broke me in a way reading that scene in English couldn't. I WILL NEVER GET OVER THIS and if I keep writing about it I'm gonna cry again so:
2. Car ride back from Kageyama's clinic (Chapter 4)
This is mostly for nostalgic reasons, really. I first read Saezuru in 2013, and I wasn't used to Yashiro at first. I didn't know what to make of him.
So what happened was that I read "Don't Stay Gold" first and was like... there's a manga about this mildly threatening and unreadable yakuza dude who's Kage's friend…? Who played cupid for him in a weird way? HMMMMM dubious, dubious. Would I even like him? It took me a while, but I finally gave Saezuru a shot anyway, and I remember feeling uncertain about Yashiro up until those panels. I remember it so starkly, because this was the instant I fell in love with him. I think it was because this was the first time I understood the depth of his loneliness (since I hadn't read his high school oneshot yet at this point).
There's just something about how Yoneda Kou-sensei draws these kinds of pages that just resonates with me so well. I CAN'T EVEN DESCRIBE IT. It just connects with me the way Yashiro connects with me, and that was pretty much it for me. Obsession sealed. Life signed away. For the next 10 years I would follow the story closely and routinely check every few months for updates. Yashiro became one of my only 3 comfort characters, and rereading Saezuru always gives me a catharsis and sense of peace that I didn't know how to find elsewhere.
3. "To go on living this strained existence... no longer holds any meaning to me." (Chapter 34)
This scene is one that I come back to every time I'm down. AM I A MASOCHIST? I really like the June translation too: "To go on living this strained existence no longer holds any meaning to me." I think the way the panels divided up those thoughts were brilliant!
This especially hurt me because for the entire manga up to this point, Yashiro has stated that he completely accepts himself and he's happy with who he is. It wasn't until his realization during the sex scene with Doumeki and how much he's said/done hurtful things to Doumeki afterwards -- who he considers pure and sweet and good -- that he thinks this.
4. "Falling in love feels like this" (Chapter 33)
The first time I read this, I had to set my PC down, go out to my apartment balcony, and just silently stare out into the night and resist the urge to smoke (that was half a joke) (I did feel a pang in my chest though) (and I did have to fight very hard not to smoke lwkehg;hge). I love the dialogue right after these panels too, when Yashiro said, "Your sister was lucky that you were there." That, along with Doumeki's reaction, hurt.
This was such an intimate scene between them. Yashiro was so vulnerable. So was Doumeki. I hadn't realized this until I reread Saezuru this year, but these two have always had such intimate scenes right from the start. It was a slow burn, yes, but they had always been instantly drawn to each other: Doumeki thinking Yashiro was beautiful and captivating, and Yashiro doing something he doesn't normally do with his subordinates the first time he met Doumeki. And it didn't clue in for me back in 2013, but their conversations with each other were much more intimate than the conversations they'd have with anyone else, right from chapter 1. I find that so precious.
5. Dream (Chapter 40)
I couldn't not include a scene from post-timeskip, BECAUSE I LOVE POST-TIMESKIP. I love Darkmeki and I love Yashiro and I love that the theme of post-timeskip centers around "change". Wish I could include that conversation Yashiro had with Tsunakawa about it, because I thought that drive-home was brilliant. I really appreciate that Yoneda Kou didn't have Yashiro and Doumeki get together right away after they have sex, and I really appreciate that the question was raised of: Do people change? Can people change on their own, or would you have to force them? Or are we always the same at our core? And I think the answer is of course a mixture of all of it, and that it's very much circumstantial and subjective, but I love how we're able to see the shifts in both Yashiro and Doumeki. How both men aren't quite the same people we knew pre-timeskip. Ten years ago I didn't think I would meet a version of Yashiro that wouldn't talk about sex 24/7, but here we are.
(Not to say that they're completely different now. They're still our Yashiro and Doumeki of course; I just wanted to gush about how well Yoneda Kou were able to flesh out her characters in such a complex, multidimensional way.)
ANYWAYS, I went on a rant without even mentioning these panels of Yashiro's dream. I love everything about it: Doumeki's face not showing, Yashiro running away and turning back to see Doumeki not there anymore, and that last panel of him standing in the middle of nowhere, lost and empty and lonely -- all of that was so incredibly told in pages of no words. UGH YONEDA KOU IS A GENIUS. It reminds me of that page of Yashiro looking at a mother and child in the rain; it's one of my favourite scenes too.
Honourary Mention (Chapter 4):
I should end with a more light-hearted one. THIS WAS CUTEEEE. I remember reading this for the first time and thinking Yashiro was just salty that his roleplay got ruined. But upon second reread (and maybe I'm delusional here), I thought he might've been happy to hear Doumeki say that.
We know Yashiro gets angry and irritated whenever he's happy to hear something sweet from Doumeki (like that extra when they ate together LOL), and that he had the same reaction of kicking the chair when Doumeki said he can't touch Yashiro's hair anymore. Which was cute to say. So I thought Yashiro might've lashed out in annoyance because he was glad that Doumeki doesn't mind. (I tried putting myself in Yashiro's shoes so many times trying to imagine how I would feel if Doumeki had said this............. and somehow came up with "happy" xD)
...........or maybe this was obvious to everyone and I've just been clueless. AAAAAAAA THIS IS WHY I LOVE ABOUT SAEZURU SO MUCH. It never spoon-feeds you information and lets its readers interpret :")

Of Yūko's customers, which ones you find most memorable?
Most memorable customers, you say?
I hope you don't mind me using this as an excuse to make an arbitrary list by way of answer. (Arbitrary lists, my beloved...)
Yuuko's Customers In Order Of How Well I Remember Them
(Though I will exclude all the bigger characters for fairness. So, Syaoran, Watanuki, Lava Lamp, Fai, Kurogane, Doumeki, Himawari, Seishirou, Ashura, Tomoyo, etc, etc. Regular xxxHolic customers only!)
10. Birdcage Customer
What was this about? Was he even a customer? We just don't know!
But the thing most memorable about this whole situation is the most pressing question: WHY DO YOU HAVE EVIL WOLVERINE'S SYMBOL ALL OVER YOUR HOME? It's even on his front sign!
WHO ARE YOU?????
9. The Liar
Mostly at the bottom because I can't resist the irony. She's the first big customer we see - but what do we really know about her? Absolutely nothing, because she lied every step of the way!
What can we really remember about someone who never actually told us anything about herself?
Though I guess you could say her ending causes quite an impact.
8. Monkey's Paw Customer
Did I forget this had happened? Perhaps!
She's one of those cases where the cause and effect are so clear that the rest of the cast might as well not even be there - and I think most of her story IS told through scenes entirely from her perspective.
I think the most memorable thing about her is the Sheer Audacity of hunting down a monkey's paw and being convinced that, actually, she already knows what it does so it can't possibly go wrong. Love that for her. Would kill for this confidence.
(Not literally - but she kind of did that also)
7. Ame Warashi
Her impeccable style. Her winning charm. She's an icon.
I had just completely forgotten that she was also a customer at one point.
She makes up for it for being absolutely great in every scene she was in, but what are you going to do in a list based purely on how well I remember the customer part? Woops! My bad!
6. Karasu Tengu
They get huge points for this being a Central Event in the narrative, but also I completely forgot they were in this as customers. The entire plot scenario? Incredible! Character defining! Et cetera!
The actual Karasu Tengu themselves? Woops! I forgot they were there. My fault though!
5. The Computer Addict
I love this one. She's so ahead of the curve that she was addicted to the internet back when you had to be on the pc to use it. Honestly, relatable. I also went through a phase like this as a young teen, so the struggle was real.
Little did we all know that in the present day the accessibility of the internet would be so rampant that she literally wouldn't even need that pc to indulge her habits anymore. Oops!
But that aside Yuuko is peak during this arc and I love everything about it. Especially the fact that Yuuko just hangs out on message boards in her free time? Wonderful information. I can do so much with this.
4. Oops! All Ghosts
Another incredible storyline. The twists are preserved by some sneaky panels from Watanuki's perspective and Yuuko's morally grey approach to the whole situation is wonderful. What if you wanted to get rid of the ghost in your home, only to find out that YOU were the ghost all along? It has the DISTRESS. It has the CONFLICT. It has the TRAGEDY. 10/10
3. Haunted Photo
Another customer with Peak Audacity. Trying to wish away the consequences of your own actions? Committing something awful but being unable to actually look at the proof yourself? The ultimate wish being an anxiety inducing curse that is sure to fail? Love it.
It's also one of those juicy situations where the morality of the situation basically drives itself. The customer causes her own problems and can't actually be saved - and doesn't deserve it either.
And honestly I think CLAMP should get a lot of credit for having the haunting effects of a photograph slowly turning around in a purely static medium. They really pulled that off.
I still love the evil smile in the photograph the last time we see it. PURE memorable.
2. The Twin
WE LOVE HER? WE LOVE HER.
Being consistently cut off and run down and overwritten and slowly clawing your way out of the situation through the sheer desire to be your own person?
And then the answer is a haircut?
It's another glimpse into the side of Yuuko that really does try cut people a good bargain. The wish could have been taken in any number of ways, but Yuuko went for the easiest and most affordable way that would genuinely help the customer actually fix her life on her own. She didn't specifically need supernatural help for this, but it was the route that presented itself, and it was the one that got her the help she needed when she needed it. Very hitsuzen, very relatable, very identifiable storyline that sticks with you.
Just like the final entry!
1. Kohane
Listen do I even need to explain this one.
Kohane is like THE storyline. It's THE example of what it's all about. It's not entirely supernatural in nature but completely heart wrenching. It has Watanuki playing a central role in fixing the problem, setting up for his future (or at least, what I assume it will be). It ties xxxHolic to Tsubasa and hints at a secret tool that will help with someone later.
And it has Kohane! You can't go wrong.
#I'm not counting the ghost who tries to kill Watanuki#because she was lonely#Or uh... all the other ghosts that try to kill Watanuki#Didn't buy anything! Not customers!#replies#traditionalartist#not liveblogging the reservoir chronicle#xxxholic#Oh am I doing a ranking list for no reason?#YES ABSOLUTELY#Listen I love it#I'll rank anything for any reason#But also#The thematic links between all the longer Customer arcs?#The overlaps between the computer addict the twin and kohane?#The line between the haunted photo and kohane's mother?#Wonderful#I love how they play with themes all the way through#But in different flavours and in different stages

some people were concerned about my joke in this earlier post regarding "putting tape on the fan", so let me just clarify what happened there lol
(this is kind of another computer storytime post, but it's longer and not really a joke like the other one, so i will put it behind a Read More for those who are curious)
ok so basically my computer started making this HORRIBLE screeching squealing noise intermittently back in October. it scared the hell out of me so badly that i just IMMEDIATELY turned off my computer because i thought that shit was about to catch fire. this happened multiple times and i couldn't figure out what was causing it and i just decided to leave my computer off for the rest of the night and open it up in the morning when i could get a second opinion from one of my techy roommates. but then it was just... fine? for a couple days? and i was like oh phew everything's ok i guess! that was really weird!
of course the noise started again, and i determined that it was coming from back end of my liquid CPU cooler, so for the first time ever, i figured out how to open up the side panel of my case and made sure everything was free of dust (it was fine) and there were no loose wires or components brushing up against the fans (also fine). then i took the top off to see if there were any loose screws where the cooler attached to it, and there weren't, but there WAS an inexplicably bent filament in the heatsink
and i was like oh shit! i wonder if that's causing some kind of air resistance sound or something and that's what i've been hearing! so i very very carefully bent it back into shape with a small screwdriver and then closed everything back up and tested it. it did not help. in hindsight it was kinda dumb of me to assume that would have anything to do with the issue, but oh well, i learned lots of things about computers throughout this process
anyways i looked inside the case with a flashlight WHILE it was running and pretty much immediately realized that the problem was very obviously one of the 3 fans on the CPU cooler that was stalling. it only started screeching when it tried to get up to higher speeds, but it was still slowing down/stopping every few seconds and creating a lot of vibration, which was something i COULD deal with while trying to get my work done, but it was distracting and made me really really anxious.
my phone's mic is always really quiet for some reason but you can still see/hear what was going on in there:
i think this was around the point in the process where i looked into fan control software, because i realized they didn't seem to be dynamically adjusting to my PC's resource usage or temperature and were instead just running full blast all the time. (it got SO much quieter after i did that. i can't believe i just dealt with hurricane winds under my desk for a year without questioning it lmao). it was AFTER i slowed their default running speed down a bit that i was able to see the problem more clearly and took this video.
i installed FanControl in the hopes that it would give me some kind of option to JUST turn off that one fan and leave the other two running, because obviously that fan isn't contributing anything to keeping things cool anyways so i may as well just shut it off and avoid further damage to the motors (and further squealing), right? well unfortunately the whole CPU cooler is treated as a single fan on the software end of things, so whatever i do to one fan, i do to all of them. it was still worthwhile to set up FanControl but it didn't solve my issue.
so THEN i did some digging, and according to some forums online it sounded like these 3 fans might at least be wired separately? or daisy-chained off of one set of wires via metal contacts on their sides? either way, it sounded like it'd be possible to just detach and remove the faulty fan until i could replace it, temporarily solving the issue. i figured out how to open up my PC even MORE than before and accessed the rear side where all the cables are kept. this is where i ran into a wall again re: my lack of expertise and confidence with this stuff.
looking at the back of the motherboard, this is what i was greeted with:
the part that's circled at the top is where the cables from all 3 fans (turned out they DID each have their own separate cables) were bundled together into two groups and fed into the back, behind the motherboard. the ones that run across the top to the left are bundled up back here and then feed back through to the front and connect o the motherboard, and the ones running down the right side go to the power supply in the bottom of the case (which i quickly found to be inaccessible because it was protected on both sides by solid metal plates that i couldn't figure out how to remove without breaking anything). in both cases, regardless of whether i could access the actual ports to disconnect them, it was nearly impossible to figure out which cables corresponded to which fan from this vantage point.
after spending a few minutes quietly coming to terms with the fact that i was WAY over my head and not equipped to carry out this particular solution, i closed the computer back up and went online to look for more possible solutions. i didn't find anything, but a piece of info i DID consistently come across throughout this whole process is that computer fans are typically very low-torque (so that they stop easily if anything obstructs them, to prevent damage to wires or anything like that). talking to a few friends about it, i decided i might have the temporary solution i needed.
this is where the tape finally comes in! i used scotch tape and just kinda... folded it around one of the fan blades and attached it to the outside of the fan casing, like a leash.
then, very very fearfully, i turned the PC back on and watched to see what happened, ready to cut the power if needed. but it worked, more or less! it would pull, meet resistance, immediately stop, and wait a moment before trying again. the important thing is that it couldn't get up to speed and it wasn't making noise. so i turned it off again, redid the tape (i don't have a pic of it but i did a much better job of securing it from multiple angles so it was 100% immobile), and it was good to go!
not a pretty or ideal solution, but my computer doesn't make funny noises anymore and still isn't having any temperature issues. if there was anything to actually attach it to then i might use a zip-tie or something instead, but this has been working fine for 2 months and will continue to work for the foreseeable future, or at least until i move and have computer-savvy friends living nearby who can help me remove and replace the fan/cooler.
anyways yeah after going through all of this chronologically, this is DEFINITELY why my computer sometimes turns red and evil and wants to kill me lmao

DOS2: A Tale of Frustration
So BG3 doesn't run on my old PC so I turned to DOS2 to fill the void and I finished it out of pure spite. I'm sorry to all the fans but... omg why is it so frustrating? So I'm putting some of the things that were driving me crazy to get it off my chest.
the skill icons on the panel keep disappearing when I try to click them like 30% of the time
the 98 damage types and every enemy has a resistance to each of these
the undead heal from poison damage for some fucking reason
the fucking clouds. poison clouds can be extinguished by fire? makes total sense. Electric clouds? You're fucked unless you know a specific spell.
in half the fights everything ends up on fire, often cursed or necrofire. good luck!
Don't you just love the fights where you start of fighting 3 enemies and end up fighting 12? Not my idea of subverting the expectations.
crafting makes no sense, there are 6834673 items to be crafted and half of them are only useful in early game
how are you supposed to learn the recipes? you get some from dozens of crafting books but it's still only like 30%. How am I supposed to know hammer to a potato makes fries?
I was googleing up quests, crafting, combat and everything else every 5 minutes because I'm tired of going into shit blind but honestly it wasn't enough.
you are free to go anywhere except the areas all have specific levels so you struggle through enemies that are 2 levels higher and then find areas that are 3 levels lower you missed
And what's up with Arx? You expect a chill city phase and end up slaughtered wherever you go. And good luck finding those source points!
Half the quests only work if you have a specific character, specific race or trait and you don't know which. Better prepare for a fight.
Persuasion checks make no sense and you only know the requirements once you fail. Have a fun fight!
Finishing a really tough fight, being really proud of yourself... Looting the dead enemies only to fight... Sir Lora. That little bitch has a deathwish and shall run through necrofire and deathfog like its full of nuts. I redid almost every late-game battle more than once. Goddammit.
I appreciate the immersion but could the NPCs stop pacing for 5 seconds? I need to talk to them! I was running after Hannag for 5 solid minutes and only managed to speak to her after I froze the water making her fall.
The inventory drove me crazy... It's not just gear and potions. You have a pyromancer and the enemies are immune to fire? You better get those scrolls. 97 ingredients half of which you're never gonna use. And I just love putting all my keys into my bag of keys manually.
The armour, man. The armour has physical/magic protection stats, skill points, ability points and sometimes spells. So you wanna swap those gloves? LOL now you can't use 3 spells and are also overburdened.
Faithful Item Set. Just that alone. The set has like 9 items and they're all dispersed all over the map, with the most important parts found on random NPCs! Like, there's no quest relating to it, there are no clues. Just... look in every crate and trade with every single character, bro. Good luck! I got all the items using a very detailed guide... except not. Turns out I got the boots first and sold them off at some point. Woo!
Right-clicking doesn't work half the time. Wanna identify shit or disarm a trap? Nope. Wanna look up that boss that you're about to fight? Don't be a pussy, just hit them and see if it works.
I am using a reasonable number of giftbag perks. I'd probably quit without them by now.
Spent about 260 hours on this game and about 100 of it was just inventory sorting.
The final battle... where do I even start? You get all the spells, all the scrolls, all the potions... only to get one-shot by the fucking Kraken. I expected something epic and received an utter clusterfuck. I only managed to win after about 6 tries and only by drinking invisibility potions, waiting for everyone to murder each other and then finishing Rex.
Thanks for coming to my TED Talk. Sorry for your time.

Fun facts about Clone Trooper Dice
My husband is talking about running a Star Wars: Saga Edition TTRPG campaign, and I was so Bad Batch-brained I just had to make a rogue clone PC
I named him Dice because he’s a TTRPG character
In-universe his brothers named him Dice ironically because he always loses at dice games
His official designation, CT-4287, is a keyboard smash
He’s got two tattoos on either side of his forehead: a 6-sided die showing 1 pip on the left, a die showing 6 pips on the right
During the Clone Wars he wore a quiff haircut. Afterwards he grew it out and started putting it in a man bun
In the SWSE system Dice is a lvl 1 Human Soldier — probably gonna multi-class into Scout or Scoundrel and go for a Prestige class. Likely Bounty Hunter or Gunslinger, but it'll depend on party comp
I used Point Buy to give him above-average attributes in everything but Charisma. Dice officially has no rizz
I plan to have him pick up Stealth, but never the Deception skill. Clones are consistently bad at lying in the canon and Dice will maintain that tradition
But I gave him Mechanics and Use Computer so he can be the technology guy. Maybe he'll pick up Piloting too. Again, party comp
Dice is a relatively inexperienced soldier — only been on one or two serious campaigns before Order 66
Dice knows the clones got a raw deal from the Republic, but he blames the Senate for that, not the Jedi or the ordinary citizens
He still saw it as his duty to protect the citizens from the consequences of the war, and respected the Jedi for doing their best to lead with compassion under the circumstances
He served under my friend’s Jedi PC (as yet unnamed) and trusts her implicitly.
Husband is talking about running a Clone Wars solo adventure for Dice and I am excited to see how that goes!
Anyway, Dice’s inhibitor chip malfunctioned when Order 66 came down. He managed to not only resist the urge to kill Jedi PC, but also to help her escape the Purge
Now they’re on the run from the Empire together
Even though he had to kill a bunch of them helping Jedi PC escape, Dice still loves his brothers. But as far as he knows he’s the only clone who isn’t loyal to the Empire, so he hasn’t reached out to any of them
The inhibitor chip hasn’t failed completely. Sometimes Dice feels the urge to Follow Orders like a Good Soldier and kill Jedi PC
He hasn’t told Jedi PC because 1) he doesn't want to admit weakness and 2) he’s afraid she’ll abandon him
Dice wants Jedi PC to rely on him because he relies so much on her. She's the closest thing to family he has now that he's deserted
Plus he trusts her Force powers
Dice has no idea inhibitor chips exist. As far as he knows there is no cure for the urge to Follow Orders and he'll just have to manage until the day he or Jedi PC dies
So he's turned to drinking in secret to control it
Dice drank excessively before Order 66, but only when he was partying with his brothers. It was something he did to fit in, not an everyday coping mechanism
Dice started out drinking at cantinas, but that got expensive and money’s tight. After a while he built a still and put it behind a hidden panel next to his bunk in the party's ship
The urge mostly comes at night -- or what passes for night in space -- when there's less to think about. So Dice pops open the panel and fills his cup from the still
That's how he falls asleep most of the time. Lately he's needed to drink more just to manage that. But it's fine, he'll handle it (it's not fine, he's not going to handle it)
On a lighter note, Dice enjoys sweets, tinkering, arguing about machines, and sitting in companionable silence

Among the many types of plastics available today, ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) 3/8 abs plastic sheet 4x8 are widely used due to their unique combination of properties. However, ABS isn't the only plastic material out there. Other common plastics, such as PVC, polycarbonate, and acrylic, also play critical roles in various industries. In this blog, we will provide a comparative overview of ABS plastic sheets in relation to other plastics, exploring the key characteristics, advantages, and potential applications of each.
What is ABS Plastic?
Before diving into the comparison, it’s essential to understand what ABS plastic is. Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) is a thermoplastic polymer known for its toughness, impact resistance, and excellent machinability. It is widely used in applications that require strong, durable, and lightweight materials, such as automotive components, consumer electronics, and even toys like LEGO bricks. 1/4 abs plastic sheet 4x8 are versatile and can be easily thermoformed, molded, and fabricated into a wide range of products.
Key Characteristics of ABS Plastic Sheets
Impact Resistance: ABS plastic is known for its high impact strength, making it ideal for applications that require durability under stress.
Chemical Resistance: ABS offers moderate resistance to chemicals, especially to acids, alkalis, and oils, which adds to its appeal in industrial applications.
Lightweight: ABS plastic sheets are lightweight compared to some other plastics, making them easier to handle and transport.
Machinability: ABS is easy to machine, cut, drill, and shape, making it suitable for both prototypes and mass production.
Heat Resistance: While ABS has good heat resistance, it is not suitable for extremely high-temperature environments.
Aesthetic Appeal: ABS plastic can be finished with a high-gloss surface, making it ideal for consumer products that require an attractive appearance.
ABS Plastic Sheets vs. Polycarbonate
Polycarbonate (PC) is another popular thermoplastic known for its toughness and transparency. Both ABS and polycarbonate have high-impact resistance, but there are some key differences between the two.
Strength and Durability: Polycarbonate is generally stronger than ABS and has a higher impact resistance. This makes polycarbonate more suitable for extreme environments or situations where the material may be subject to heavy physical stress, such as in bulletproof windows or protective shields.
Heat Resistance: Polycarbonate has a higher heat resistance than ABS, meaning it can be used in applications requiring exposure to higher temperatures without losing its shape or strength. This makes polycarbonate ideal for industries such as aerospace and electronics.
Transparency: One of polycarbonate’s key advantages over ABS is its clarity. Polycarbonate is highly transparent and often used as a glass substitute, whereas ABS is opaque.
Cost: ABS plastic sheets are generally more affordable than polycarbonate, making ABS the better choice for cost-sensitive applications that do not require extreme strength or transparency.
Applications: ABS is typically used for products like automotive parts, household appliances, and protective gear. Polycarbonate, on the other hand, is used for more demanding applications, including safety goggles, electrical components, and greenhouse panels.
ABS Plastic Sheets vs. PVC
Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) is another common plastic used in a variety of applications, from plumbing pipes to signage. Both ABS and PVC are durable materials, but they serve different purposes due to their unique properties.
Durability and Flexibility: ABS is known for its impact resistance, whereas PVC is valued for its flexibility. PVC can bend and twist without breaking, making it ideal for applications that require a degree of flexibility, such as piping. ABS, while tough, is more rigid and brittle in comparison.
Chemical Resistance: PVC offers superior chemical resistance compared to ABS. It can withstand harsher chemicals, acids, and corrosive substances, making it the material of choice for chemical processing applications.
Heat Resistance: ABS performs better than PVC in terms of heat resistance, making it suitable for applications exposed to moderate heat. However, neither material should be used in extremely high-temperature environments.
Cost: PVC is typically more affordable than ABS, making it a popular choice for cost-effective products like plumbing components, flooring, and industrial signs.
Applications: ABS is often used in automotive parts, consumer goods, and electronics. PVC is predominantly used in construction materials, piping systems, and electrical insulation.
ABS Plastic Sheets vs. Acrylic
Acrylic (PMMA), also known as Plexiglas, is a transparent thermoplastic often used as a glass alternative. While both ABS and acrylic have their advantages, they are used for different purposes.
Transparency: One of the key differences between ABS and acrylic is transparency. Acrylic is known for its excellent clarity and light transmission, making it ideal for applications that require a glass-like appearance, such as display cases, windows, and signage. ABS is opaque, so it is not suitable for transparent applications.
Impact Resistance: ABS is much tougher than acrylic when it comes to impact resistance. Acrylic is more brittle and prone to cracking or shattering under stress, whereas ABS can withstand more physical force without damage.
Machinability: Both ABS and acrylic are easy to machine and fabricate, but acrylic can be more delicate when it comes to cutting and drilling, as it is more prone to cracking if not handled carefully.
Heat Resistance: ABS performs better than acrylic in terms of heat resistance, as acrylic can become soft and lose its shape when exposed to high temperatures.
Cost: Acrylic sheets tend to be more expensive than ABS sheets, especially when the application requires transparency or a high-quality finish.
Applications: ABS is commonly used in products that require strength and impact resistance, such as automotive parts, tools, and electronic housings. Acrylic, on the other hand, is used in applications that require transparency and a polished appearance, such as display windows, light fixtures, and aquariums.
ABS Plastic Sheets vs. Polypropylene
Polypropylene (PP) is another commonly used thermoplastic known for its versatility and chemical resistance. Compared to ABS, polypropylene has its own set of unique characteristics.
Flexibility: Polypropylene is much more flexible than ABS. It can be bent or twisted without breaking, making it ideal for applications that require some degree of flexibility, such as packaging materials and living hinges.
Chemical Resistance: Polypropylene offers better chemical resistance than ABS, making it more suitable for applications involving exposure to chemicals, oils, or solvents.
Impact Resistance: While polypropylene is flexible, ABS is much stronger in terms of impact resistance. This makes ABS the better option for applications that require durability and the ability to withstand physical stress.
Heat Resistance: Polypropylene has a higher melting point than ABS, making it better suited for applications exposed to high temperatures.
Cost: Polypropylene is typically less expensive than ABS, making it a cost-effective choice for applications where strength and durability are not the primary concerns.
Applications: ABS is used for more durable products like automotive components and protective gear. Polypropylene is commonly used for packaging, containers, and automotive interiors.
Conclusion
When it comes to selecting the right plastic material for your project, understanding the differences between ABS plastic sheets and other plastics is crucial. Abs sheet manufacturer a unique combination of strength, impact resistance, and machinability, making it an excellent choice for a wide range of applications. However, each plastic material, whether it’s polycarbonate, PVC, acrylic, or polypropylene, has its own advantages depending on the specific requirements of the application.
