The Prince and The Fox (3)
[ modern! • Aemond x friend! • female ]
[ warnings: kissing, mention of sexual abuse, violence, trauma ]
Tumblr media
[ description: After the events of her childhood, despite her best efforts, her neighbor and the younger brother of her friend Helaena, Aemond, does not want to know her. This state lasts until a house party organized by his older brother, Aegon, during which an incident occurs that will change their relationship forever. Slow burn, angst, toxic ex-Alys, rough Aemond. This is several anon requests combined into one fic. ]
WARNING: The main plot between the characters takes place in high school. Yes, in high school. The belief that teenagers wait with an intimacy when they are in love in high school is ridiculous to me. Aemond and the character here are the same age. Don't ask me how old they are, in my country you are of the age of consent in your first year of high school and an adult in the last year of high school, so if it is more convenient for you, think about it that way and decide for yourself. In this story, I am not following the trail that they are magically friends right away, but how they become friends and what that even means. I'm writing this fic to give the perspective of young, lost people, not adult women who want to see exactly themselves in everything they read. If that's all you expect, this isn't the fic for you.
I don't want whining about this in my comments or asks. I will delete these and block you. You have been warned. Aemond + Evans Series Moodboard
This is my first story that has its own playlist, but yes! Get in the mood! Story Music Playlist. Song used in this chapter: Don't Bring Me Down by Electric Light Orchestra.
* English is not my first language. Please, do not repost. Enjoy! *

_____
From that day on, they both took off their earphones when they stood together at the bus stop. Her presence had apparently stopped being awkward for him and he had become addicted to listening to Kajagoogoo, although he admitted it reluctantly.
"They have a terrible band name, but that bass is fucking awesome. They got really into my head and it's good to listen to them in the background while doing something else at the same time." He muttered, without looking at her, scrolling something on his phone.
She knew this was his way of distracting himself from the stress of the conversation, that he wasn't good at it and pretended to be indifferent, his lips tightened.
Since the whole thing reached the headmaster of the school the matter became very serious and Cregan was not laughing anymore. The headmaster became very concerned about the whole situation and even though it was not the school where the sexual abuse took place, bullying did.
On the corridor cameras, Cregan could be seen knocking her over by propping her up with his leg, as one of his buddies scratched the word 'liar' with his key on her locker.
Although these were not crimes for which you could go to jail, the principal invited her to an interview accompanied by the school psychologist. The headmaster asked her if she wanted someone to accompany her during this talk and she said without thinking: Aemond.
She surprised him when she asked him to go with her to his office, he was the only one to witness it all and she was afraid to be there alone. He just nodded and answered nothing, clicking something on his phone, and she breathed a sigh of relief.
They went there together.
The director approached the matter with understanding and quoted to her what he had heard the day before from Aemond.
"Your colleague told me that he witnessed the incident and that there is video footage of what happened. I also know that Cregan's classmates nag you a lot because they prefer to believe him. The psychologist and I thought that, if you agree, we would give his class some shock therapy and show them the part of the video that shows him hurting you.
Of course, we will only do this if you agree, however, we believe that if Mr Stark loses his credibility, you will regain your composure and be able to focus on your education rather than the unpleasant incidents you continue to face from them. We know that the footage shows nothing of which you would be ashamed, nor of course your exposed body." He concluded, glancing uncertainly at the lady psychologist.
She didn't know what to say, she could feel her heart pounding hard.
"Think it over calmly. It's just a suggestion and you don't have to do it. We want to help you and we know it's hard for you." Said the psychologist in a soft, calm voice.
She looked apprehensively at Aemond, who was staring at her out of the corner of his eye with his lips tightened, himself clearly not sure what he was thinking.
"It's your decision. You don't have to do it. But I think this bugger deserves it. He walks around the school like a king, he thinks you don't have the guts to show it. That you'll be embarrassed when he's the one who should be ashamed of himself." He said lowly, and she thought with pain that he was right.
Why should he spread rumours about her, lie that she wanted this?
"Fine." She mumbled, the headmaster sighed quietly.
"Do you want to be there when we show them this?" He asked lowly, and she shook her head quickly.
"No."
She delivered an excerpt of the video to the director that next day. He and the lady psychologist watched it to make sure that the video would not portray her in a negative light and make matters worse, but what they saw left no illusions.
She knew that the headmaster would go to Cregan's class with the psychologist at their advisory class and throughout the day she felt like she was going to die, her whole body was trembling, she hadn't eaten anything and she was cold.
As she sat during one of the breaks outside the classroom, staring dully at the floor Aemond sat down next to her and sighed, taking out of his pocket her favourite chocolate bar, Milkyway, which he must have bought from the school vending machine. She looked at him gratefully and shook her head.
"Have you eaten anything today?" He asked lowly and she shook her head again, lowering her gaze.
"I won't swallow anything. My stomach has been hurting since this morning."
"Hmm."
They sat side by side like that, their shoulders and knees touching, not speaking until the bell rang announcing that the break was over.
They sat down to their benches, the teacher came in, but she couldn't concentrate on what he was saying, terrified.
Everyone was watching it now.
She covered her face with her hands, thinking that she had made a mistake, that it would get worse.
However, to her surprise, as she walked out of the classroom she was approached by several people from his class who had also thrown unpleasant comments at her earlier, including his buddy, who shouted to her and Aemond at the time whether they were going to go fuck.
They stood for a moment as if they didn't know what to say.
"Hi. We saw the video. I…fuck." Said the boy, scratching his brow with his thumb, pale, embarrassed, horrified. "I…I really believed him. I swear to you I would never have suspected he was capable of such a thing. When I watched you pull away from him and he wouldn't let you go…fuck, a red light should have lit up in my head earlier as he said he was going to fuck you, but I thought, I don't know, that's what you want, that you're into him, not that…"
He stammered, all red, she could see he was barely holding back tears. He shrugged his shoulders.
"And yet I acted like a stupid piece of shit to you. Then, after all of that. I believed my mate, I thought I knew him." He said without looking at her, his other colleagues nodding.
"We're ashamed. He walked around talking about it as if nothing had happened, as if it was just your imagination. He cried in class as the principal came in and said what he was going to show us. I think he realised he was going to lose a lot of friends."
She looked at them all with her heart beating hard, scared and ashamed at the same time, not knowing what she should say to them.
Most of all, however, she felt relieved.
They had finally left her alone.
If she could consider that something good had come out of all this, it was certainly her relationship with Aemond. They only talked on the bus or while waiting for him at the bus stop, usually about school, teachers, homework, or music.
He played her songs on his earphones when she asked him if he could recommend something new to her, however, he always listened to Kajagoogoo with her on the way to school.
She liked the fact that this had already become their routine, something they shared, proof that they had established a bond, this time unforced, desired from both sides.
She found to her surprise that he was actually a very sensitive, calm man.
She really liked him.
Helaena was very concerned about all that had happened, and wrote to her often to find out how she was feeling. She didn't want to impose on her and didn't visit her at home.
However, one day she asked if she would like to stay with her for the night and sleep in her room, talk about everything that was on her mind and then watch Shrek together or another cartoon they loved as children.
She thought it was a good idea.
She arrived at the appointed time in the evening, Alicent opened the door, smiling warmly and embracing her.
Since the situation with Cregan it seemed that their families had become closer, her parents were extremely grateful to Aemond for what he had done and always greeted him when they saw him on the street or in the shop, embarrassing him.
She saw Helaena run out from over her shoulder and wave to her, holding two bags of their favourite Chips and a carton of orange juice.
Walking towards the stairs she swallowed loudly as she saw the exit to the garden, feeling an unpleasant tightening in her pit and a cold sweat on her back.
She squealed when suddenly Vhagar ran out at them from upstairs, wagging her tail and barking, happy that they had a visitor, almost knocking her over.
"Vhagar!" She heard his impatient, low voice. "Come back here! Immediately."
Vhagar ran up to him, looking at him with her big, pleading black eyes, and he sighed as he stroked her fur. She smiled at him as she passed him, they threw each other a brief, shy 'hi' before she disappeared with Helaena into her room.
Although she didn't want to at first, she felt she had to get it out of her, that she couldn't take it anymore, that it was poisoning her from the inside.
They were both sitting in their pyjamas, T-shirts and shorts on her carpet, a bowl full of crisps and two glasses full of juice between them.
"At first when he touched my thigh I thought − gee, maybe he really likes me that much that he can't stop, I don't know. I felt, I sensed something was wrong and I'm mad that I didn't push him away then! I went outside with him because I thought maybe I don't know, he wants to sit with me in an embrace, stroke me, hold my hand, kiss me. And when he slipped his hand under my dress, when he squeezed me, when he wouldn't let me move or pull away I felt…" She stammered, feeling her voice break, her throat tighten, tears gather in her eyes.
"…God, I just felt that I was very afraid of him, that it was very bad and terrible, that I didn't want it, that he was hurting me, that it was such a bad touch, I don't know how to describe it." She mumbled, Helaena looking at her with her lips slightly parted, her eyebrows arched in pain, her light hair tied up in a bun.
"It felt like I couldn't breathe, it felt like I wanted to scream, like someone was skinning me, it's this feeling of sudden panic, but also something else, like deep in your lower abdomen, this all-consuming fear and terror, like the air is stuck in your throat and you can't catch your breath." She muttered quickly, shaking her head, refusing to let the tears flow, her lips tightening.
"I don't know how he can think it's nothing. To live with the fact that I asked him to stop and he didn't." She shrugged her shoulders, Helaena got up and sat beside her, embracing her, letting her lie on her thighs.
She burst into tears when she started to stroke her head, when she told her that it wasn't her fault and that no one blamed her, that just because she hadn't pushed him away at first didn't mean he had the right to do what he did, that he had done it deliberately and premeditatedly, that no meant no.
She shuddered and lifted her gaze when she heard movement near her room, as if someone had moved out of place, and then the quiet sound of a door opening and closing.
Was he listening to what she was talking about? Was he eavesdropping on them?
She pressed her lips together, lowering her head, feeling ashamed.
She said she would go to the toilet to bring herself to order, but in fact she went to his door, hearing from it the song he had shown her a few days before, 'Don't Bring Me Down' played by the Electric Light Orchestra.
She knocked loudly and heard that after a moment the music quieted, someone's footsteps on the other side.
He opened the door and looked at her in surprise, involuntarily glancing down at her bare legs and then at her face again, swallowing loudly.
"Were you eavesdropping?" She asked reproachfully.
He pressed his lips together, looking away.
"Yeah. I'm sorry." He said low with sincere regret. "I wanted to know how you were feeling. How you're coping with it."
"Can't you just ask me?" She said regretfully, looking at him with her eyebrows arched in pain, feeling the tears under her eyelids again, emotionally unhinged from what she had recounted.
He looked at her surprised, she could see that he was uncomfortable. He let out a loud breath.
"I'm not good at this. At talking. I didn't know if I should ask. Whether it was the right thing to do. I don't know what more I could say." He muttered, shrugging his shoulders, looking everywhere but at her.
"You can ask me anything you want. I trust you." She said softly, and he swallowed loudly, as if for some reason her words caused him pain, as if he wanted to say something more, as if he had something on the tip of his tongue.
She waited patiently for him to pull himself together, for him to think through what he wanted to say. He looked at her.
"I hated you all these years. I hated you because I saw you as a person who does everything for show. For show you baked me cakes to make you feel good about yourself, for show you came here and apologised to me, always loud, always first everywhere, you always had to have your opinion about everything." He said low and fast, and she felt the cold sweat on her back and the frighteningly strong pounding of her heart as she looked at him in disbelief.
"When I heard what Cregan said to his mates I thought I should warn you. To say: be careful, he's planning something more, he's talking about you to his mates as if you were an object. But I didn't. Because I didn't like you." He muttered and she saw his lower lip tremble, his healthy eye red, his breath hitched.
"If I told you, it wouldn't have happened. Do you know how I have you saved on my phone?" He asked in a trembling voice, a single tear running down his cheek.
"Foxy."
She felt tear after tear begin to run down her face, she drew in air loudly feeling tightness in her throat, she felt like someone was tearing her heart from the inside out, a strange, broken sound came from her chest.
"Please, hug me." She mumbled so pitifully that his face contorted in a grimace of pain and regret, he pulled her to him instantly and she clamped her hands on the material of his Tshirt, sobbing loudly, his arms wrapped around her tightly on each side.
"− I'm sorry −" He muttered in a low, hoarse, breaking voice. "− I'm sorry −"
She lifted her gaze to him, trying to catch her breath, and he lowered his head to look at her, their faces almost touching, their hot breaths surrounding their skin.
She felt something strange looking at him so closely, she thought he had a lovely eye colour, that he had fine cheekbones, a pleasing nose and forehead. Something changed in his gaze when he noticed that she glanced at his lips and found them surprisingly full, they looked soft, slightly parted in his accelerated breathing.
She felt his body tense up, felt his fingers clench tighter on her back. All she could hear was the loud pounding of her heart and their breaths, nothing more.
"− wanna kiss? −" She heard him whisper, as if it was a kind of casual proposal, as if he was asking her if she felt like eating something or going for a walk.
She swallowed loudly, glancing at him again, and simply nodded.
She didn't have time to take another breath and his warm, soft lips were already on hers, she felt his hand on the back of her neck which drew her close, making his job easier, he sighed as if with some kind of relief.
She had never suspected that kisses were so wet and sticky, so noisy, but she didn't want him to stop, so she stroked his scarred cheek with her hand, closing her eyes, mimicking his movements, brushing her lips against his with a loud click.
She tightened her second hand in his short, light hair, feeling the heat in her lower abdomen, feeling the pulsation between her thighs, his lips wonderfully soft, moist and firm, he brushed and sucked her fleshy skin, their breaths loud and drawn out.
"− fuck −" He growled out between one loud click of saliva and the next, panting along with her, their kisses increasingly deep, intimate, passionate and wet.
They pulled away from each other suddenly, breathing as if they had run a marathon, looking at each other in disbelief.
"− I − are you all right? −" He mumbled, his healthy eye wide open in panic.
She just nodded, feeling that she looked just like him. She moved away from him and he let her go immediately, running his hand over his mouth and chin in a gesture of disbelief.
"− I − fuck −" He muttered and they both gasped when they heard the sound of the door opening, Helaena leaned her head out, clearly worried that she hadn't been back for so long.
"− are you okay? −" She asked loudly, surprised, and she nodded, looking up at him with her heart pounding like mad, swallowing hard.
"− y-yes − I − I am coming −" She muttered and ran towards her, Helaena smiled at her and closed the door behind her.
She said she had already found Shrek online on her laptop and everything was ready to watch. She smiled and sat down on her bed next to her, trying to focus on what she was seeing, but her thoughts, as well as her heart, were with someone else, a few rooms away.
They kissed.
Good God.
An excellent start to a friendly relationship indeed.

Classmates
Tumblr media
David Geist, Class of 1980
Je suis enchanté, happy to see you at cabaret
At the tail end of pianist David Geist’s rendition of George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” comes another familiar refrain. A sly grin spreads across his face as he wraps the jazz standard with a snippet from Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody,” concluding the instrumental take on the classic rock song with a sustained flourish that elicits shouts of “bravo” from the audience.
Geist’s take on Queen (by way of Gershwin) serves as a confluence between genres and generations. And that’s what the tall, wavy-haired Broadway veteran is all about these days. His performances reflect the musical traditions of the baby boomers (who grew up with the music of the silent generation), as well as Generation X.
And after a long hiatus, Geist is back with the Cabaret Upstairs at Osteria, at Osteria D’Assisi.
Welcome to the cabaret
On a recent evening, the air is redolent with the aroma of lobster tails and capellini in a rich, buttery broth flavored with rosemary, and Geist holds forth like a consummate host. He greets every patron who walks in and roves from table to table, chatting with the visitors before the show.
The easygoing start to the night doesn’t end when Geist, dressed casually in an open sport jacket and crisp white shirt, sits down at the snow-white baby grand piano amid the golden glow of yellow ochre walls. The rapport he’s established with the audience continues through the night, only now with musical accompaniment.
“What are you drinking, Linda?” he asks, while his fingers gently tap at the keys.
Linda holds up her drink. “Wine spritzer.”
He plays Billy Joel’s “Piano Man.” It’s not exactly a show tune or a jazz standard, but it fits with his eclectic take on cabaret music.
“I kind of think of myself as a preservationist, almost like a lineage holder,” explains Geist, who says he’s in his mid-50s. “I’m sort of the ambassador of the Great American Songbook here. But I feel like we’re in a cultural shift now. We have new classics, so I find my program is becoming much more varied. So I also see myself as a cultural and generational bridge at this point.”
Geist performed the Geist Cabaret at Pranzo for 12 years. That ended when the Sanbusco Market Center location closed for construction of the New Mexico School for the Arts. Since then, he’s freelanced, performing at venues around the country, teaching master classes at colleges and universities, and working as a vocal coach.
Geist performs his solo show on the first and third Thursday of every month. His Aug. 19 performance draws a full house.
“He’s got a variety of different songs, he’s talented, and he’s engaging with the crowd,” says Lino Pertusini, owner of Osteria. “There’s something for everybody. There’s something for people of different ages. It’s absolutely fun.”
Before the evening’s out, the rolling flourishes of his playing, which end with an emphatic raise of his hand in the air on more dramatic numbers, wring whoops and hollers from the crowd. He delves into a lineup that ranges from a stirring rendition of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera to a delicate, soulful take on “Memory” from Webber’s Cats, a song he says he learned directly from original Broadway cast performer Betty Buckley.
“People think of Broadway show tunes, and they think of people sitting around piano bars with drunks, trying to do their best Ethel Merman impression,” he says. “But there’s a group of people that take it as seriously as anything else. They give their lives over to it. Harold Prince and Stephen Sondheim, these guys really had an integrity about what they were doing.”
A natural showman, Geist takes it seriously, too, but he conveys that love and commitment best in front of an audience. And his playing is nothing if not impassioned.
Back in New York, long before Osteria, his playing was lost in the orchestra pits of the city’s musical theaters.
“I feel very appreciated here,” he once told the Huffington Post about being in New Mexico. “I felt removed in New York. Here I’m engaging with an audience.”
Music is lineage
Geist’s passion for the Great American Songbook is lifelong. His mother was a semi-professional stage actress, and his parents’ record collection was mostly original cast albums from Broadway shows.
“For me, all music sounded like a Broadway musical,” he says. “You’ve got your solos and duets, and you’ve got your overtures. If their record collection had been jazz, I might have become a jazz musician. I was so influenced by what they passed down to me. I think music really is a pass-down tradition. Music is lineage.”
A graduate of Berklee College of Music, Geist pursued his career in New York City in the 1980s, playing in and conducting orchestras on and off Broadway and playing audition and rehearsal piano. “I was really in the thick of it. I was totally in the trenches of being a real Broadway theater musician.”
He stuck with it until 2005 when, he says, he “hit the New York wall.”
“When you’re young, there’s nothing like being in New York, like, when you’re in your late 20s, early 30s. I just went there after college so it wasn’t like I had roots there. But you outgrow the pace of it. It’s too much to keep up with after a while.”
Geist ended up in Santa Fe after touring with friends from Albuquerque. His aunt had a second home here.
“I thought, ‘Let’s try a smaller town.’ It was a very targeted kind of decision. Santa Fe is still a very cultural center, with the opera and the chamber music. I had a pretty good feeling that my art would be well received here, and it has been. Santa Fe has a lot of second home owners and retirees. Maybe I sort of remind them of the lives they had back in those urban areas.”
Early in the evening, Geist introduces his original instrumental work, “A Little Romance.” It’s from Inside the Flame (2015), the second studio album of his own songs. He seems almost nervous about rolling it out, unsure, perhaps, how the audience is going to react. But he musters a sweet, diaphanous jazz number that can hold its own against Glenn Miller’s “Moonlight Serenade.” And as the lilting tune progresses, one can easily imagine Audrey Hepburn being romanced on the balcony of a Manhattan high-rise, Champagne in hand.
Mostly, though, he sticks to a program of recognizable classics: “Send in The Clowns,” “Summer Nights” from Grease, and Chicago’s “All That Jazz.”
He often plays to a local crowd. So, naturally, he changes up the lyrics to George and Ira Gershwin’s “Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off” to “give it a New Mexico twist.”
“You say ‘Cerrillos,’” he sings, pronouncing the L’s as a Y, “and I say ‘Cerrillos,’” pronouncing the L’s as L’s; “You say ‘Madrid,’” he croons, stressing the first syllable, “and I say ‘Madrid,’” stressing the second.
“Let’s call the whole thing off.”
Geist likens performing at the new venue as a sort of high school reunion. Fans from his Pranzo years are showing up, and he’s grateful for that, especially at a time when people are still nervous about crowds in public places.
“There’s a new variant out there. People are masking up again. I know people are a little skittish, and there’s a trust issue. But once people get upstairs and they feel safe, they’re loving it.” *Reposted article from Pasatiempo by Michael Abatemarco, September 3, 2021

8 MUSE FACTS.
REPOST, DO NOT REBLOG.
1. Moira used to own tarantula spiders, and kept several of them in her offices.
2. Moira sweetens her coffee with milk and honey, she isn’t the fondest of sweets.
3. Her mother was an accomplished musician, preforming in the Dublin Philharmonic Orchestra when she was a younger woman. Her father was a biomedical chemist, which is where she gathered much of her acute love of the sciences. Often Moira plays classical music in her office, and is particularly fond of the cello.
4. Moira is actually fascinated with taxidermy. In her personal home, she owns several pieces including a resined cobra, crow and several cases of pinned moths and butterflies.
5. She has a very compulsive need for cleanliness. Moira was never tested for OCD but exhibits a few symptoms, her distain for dirt or germs being one of them. There are a few chemical burns on her skin from constant scrubbing of her hands and sterilization products.
6. Almost the entirety of Moira’s wardrobe consists of dress shirts, blazers, ties, and slacks. She doesn’t particularly care for fashionable woman’s wear and finds more practical women’s attire comfortable. She mostly began dressing formally in her early college years after a lot of discomfort due to her slender form.
7. Moira has a second class case of Waardenburg syndrome, resulting in her heterochromia and deafness on her right side.
8. Moira’s favourite drink is Nikolaschka.

MUN QUESTIONS. Q1 : if you could write your character your way in their own movie , what would it be called , what style would it be filmed in , and what would it be about ?
A1 : a solo wasp movie not starring janet van dyne would be criminal. i’d do the solo janet wasp movie first (either post!agent carter set in the cold war with her having undercover superhero  adventures with hank or rewrite the mcu timeline altogether and have her be a founding avenger with the rest of them). THEN, have a sequel movie where janet is training hope as her successor.
also, i’d LOVE an animated mini-series with nadia having science adventures. Saturday morning cartoon style with monsters and villains of the week while recruiting members for G.I.R.L. she can even do ‘nadia science facts” in-between commercial breaks a la sailor says. Q2 : what would their soundtrack / score sound like ? A2 : a lot of classical music (mostly compositions from 17th-19th century that accompany a ballet), alternative rock, and 80s/80s-inspired eletronic-dance pop. Q3 : why did you start writing this character ?  A3 : there were a lot of avengers character ask and rp blogs, especially when i first joined tumblr, but i didn’t really make up my mind on rping her until after seeing the movie and the want to explore her character, because her characterization is pretty great.
Q4 : what first attracted you to this character ? A4: i’m someone who often hides my emotions, and i often end up looking cold without intending on it, so i really enjoyed seeing a character who is defined like that? she expresses her bitterness and unapologetic anger that is rarely seen in heroic characters and that it doesn’t shy away from the idea that she could easily block out the light and turn into the darkness, but underneath her no nonsense cold exterior, she’s really empathetic and compassionate. and seeing her finally getting what she rightfully deserves, and knowing she’s gonna be the biggest damn hero the world’s ever seen is just amazing.
similar thing can be said about nadia in that her optimism is refreshing in the current state of comics.
Q5 : describe the biggest thing you dislike about your muse. A5 :
Nadia Pym: i mean if i have to find ONE nitpick it would be that her overly sugary upbeat personality comes off as "too quirky”. i love the writer and artist of the solo series, but i see why some people can get annoyed by that, especially when they didn’t expect her series to take the colorful, fun, lighthearted, there is very little drama (eg: squirrel girl, batgirl) route as opposed to a traditional action drama legacy character approach (eg: ms. marvel, the atom rebirth )
Hope Van Dyne: i relate a lot to hope’s cynical and snarky personality, but the fact that she’s the exasperated, strong, serious, work-focused female interest trope found in nearly every movie is very…meh.
Hope Pym (982):
Tumblr media
WARNING: RANT
if you’re going to make her a villain at least give her a GOOD REASON to be one. WHAT IS THIS ‘KILL THE AVENGERS BS’. your parents are hank pym and janet van dyne. FOUNDERS OF THE FREAKIN AVENGERS. hank literally passed the ant-man mantle to scott lang before you were even born! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! YOU GREW UP WITH THESE PEOPLE! HOW IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE?! THERE’S A MILLION REASONS TO BE A VILLAIN BUT THIS ONE MAKES ZERO SENSE. (i guess her being jealous of cassie would be her “reason”, but that’s a really cheap route to go considering how close the pym-van-dyne and lang family are. which leaves the “she’s mentally unstable” which im not even gonna touch.)
she isn’t even cool as a villain this could have been so cool! WE COULD HAVE HAD A VILLAIN ON PAR WITH ULTRON IN TERMS OF THREATENING. all that build and all we got was “MUHAHAH IM EVIL AND IM EASY TO DEFEAT IN 2 PANELS” all i see is a bunch of writers  going “OOOH PLOT TWIST~ THE CHILD OF TWO SUPERHEROES IS ACTUALLY A BAD GUY OOOOH~”
sorry. im just disappointed by the lost potential in this idea . I genuinely like the idea. Hope Pym and Henry Pym Jr.. Twin siblings who are raised by Hank and Janet, and one going on the path of being a villain, and the other deciding to be a hero could’ve made a good story. this could have been executed a LOT BETTER than what we actually got.
Q6 : what do you have in common with your muse ? A6 : we love doughnuts, are often deep in thought and forgetful of the world around us, wear mostly dark clothes, not really interested in romance, think holograms and robots are the coolest things ever, would probably marry a robot lol Q7 : how does your muse feel about you ? A7 : i think she’d like me. it’d  take a while for me b/c i’m an anxious jelly bean, but i think i’m a pretty nice person. im not a science genius or anything, but i can offer doughnuts and friendship! Q8 : what characters does your muse have interesting interactions with ? A8 : pretty much EVERYONE considering she’s still new to the world around her. i love her interactions with janet, jarvis, bobbi morse, kamala, lunella, and peter parker. (can’t wait to see her interacting with matt murdock in the next issue)
i also have a pretty solid list on characters we have NOT seen her interacting with im interested in seeing: bucky barnes, natasha romanoff, bruce banner, reed richards (both mister fantastic and the maker), rest of the fam (scott, cassie, raz, eric, rita, viv, billy kaplan, victor mancha, etc. etc.), every known scientist both good, evil, and in-between, in the entire multiverse. ant-man ridiculous but astonishing rogue gallery (like dr. egghead and whirlwind) the list can go forever tbh.
Q9 : what gives you inspiration to write your muse ? A9 : i don’t know. when i have an idea, i just roll with it. listening to chiptune music and reading old analysis and metas are major boosts to get myself out of the writing slump. Q10 : how long did this take you to complete ? A10 : about 5 hours.

it RULES.  share four songs  /  pieces of music that represent your chara. ( repost, don’t reblog )
1. RE-DO (by MODERN BASEBALL)
maybe i could just move away or go extinct like triceratops but i love loving: watching movies, sitting back and also breathing my family and friends would be crushed, but is it enough (no, it's not enough) the "future freaks me out" but i guess i could just curl up in a ball and think
ANALYSIS.  honestly after the assassination, nagisa just wants to just kind of disappear from the public eye for a while, which in canon he does. he doesn’t connect with his friends a lot and just... goes off and does his own thing and tries to have as normal as a life as he can. the emotions get to him still, assassination will always be apart of his life and he knows he won’t get rid of that. he took the life of someone important to him, that’s gonna scar him for good.
2. ART SCHOOL WANNABE  ( by SORORITY NOISE )
maybe i'm my own greatest fear maybe i'm just scared to admit that i might not be as dark as i think maybe i am not the person that i never wanted to be maybe i'm my own greatest fear maybe i’m just scared to admit that i might not be as dark as i think
ANALYSIS.  when it comes to his mother he is scared that he is becoming what she wants, that he is one day going to give in and just wear whatever she tells him and do what she says. that he’s going to be a failure like everyone around him calls him, hence why he attempted suicide the first week of class on the first hand because he thought a suicide bomb was the only way he’d be helpful. but he’s looking up after that peptalk koro had with him after the attempt, things might be all this bad.
3. CIGARETTES & SAINTS ( by THE WONDER YEARS )
these wolves in their suits and ties saying “kid you can trust me.” charming southern drawl, sunken eyes. buying good will in hotel lobbies. they got fistfuls of pills to make sure you don’t hurt no more. you don’t gotta feel anything. got their fangs in our veins. got their voice in our heads. got our arms in their grips. no, we can’t shake free. this god damn machine; hungry and heartless. my whole generation got lost in the margin. we put our faith in you. you turned a profit. now we’re drowning here under your waves.
ANALYSIS.  the government in japan took advantage of nagisa and his class being a group of “failures” and outcasts and their building being away from the main campus. they thought the kids had nothing better to do with their lives and that they were probably thugs anyway and being assassins wouldn’t help or hurt their lives. plus the money would probably help their lives since they had nothing going for them anyway. they played the kids to the end and tried to take that whole year away from them by trying to kill their teacher behind their backs anyway. they got bombarded by the news and a few of them broke under pressure and cried and fell apart on world wide tv. they needed therapy and at the beginning were told that they could trust the officials for help, which was just lies, but they could do nothing about it.
4. I CAN FEEL A HOT ONE  ( by MANCHESTER ORCHESTRA )
for a moment, i could feel the force fainted to the point of tears and you were holding on to make a point, what's the point ? i'm but a clean man, stable and alone man make it so i won't have to try, the faces always stay the same so i face the fact that i'm just fine, i said that i'm just fine i took it like a grown man crying on the pavement hoping you would show your face, i haven't heard a thing you've said in at least a couple hundred days, what'd you say ? i could feel my heartbeat taking me down and for the moment, i would sleep alright i'm dealing with a selfish fear to keep me up another restless night another restless night
ANALYSIS.  the assassination really tore nagisa apart since he was the one to put the knife through koro’s heart, everyone else held him down but he wanted to do it... he felt like it was the only proper way to say goodbye to the man that saved his life so many times. countless assassins trying to kill him, being targeted by officials and even stopping his own mother from abusing him any more in his life. as koro’s body disappeared into little flutters of light he screamed and cried on the floor, he couldn’t let go of the knife even though there was no flesh around it anymore. a full blown panic attack taking over with hot warm tears going down his face and they just... really wouldn’t stop. nights were hard after that. he was 14 and he’s killed a man and knows what the fear is to be killed. he’s held one of his friend’s dead body like it was nothing as well. he has some Trauma.

Things to do in Montréal March 3-9
March begins with the thrills of massive winter festival MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE and its all-nighter Nuit Blanche, plus spring break activities for families, dance and theatre, incredible illuminated art, classical music and rock shows.
Bright days and nights
The city seriously shines during winter arts, culture and fine dining festival MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE ongoing to March 11 with an all-new program of performing arts, fabulous fine dining options and the free and family-friendly outdoor site at Place des Festivals, where you’ll find great local food and drink, from Québec cheeses to Cabral porto, live music and performances such as X-Lumina, an illuminated Ferris wheel, the urban ice slide and zip line, and classic Canadian sport Curling en lumière. Walk around the Quartier des Spectacles to see the high-tech interactive light art of Illuminart or head down into the underground city for Art Souterrain‘s miles of new art installations. And, of course, the festival’s biggest deal: all-nighter Nuit blanche featuring free activities, performances, music, film and more, from downtown to Mile End and many more neighbourhoods on March 4.
Montréal on Spring Break
We’ve put together an overflowing guide to restaurants, bars and parties for spring break in Montréal but we haven’t forgotten about the younger set either – with local schools closed this week, there are plenty of things to do for families during spring break. In these waning days of winter, why not try tobogganing or ice skating on the Mountain or spend an afternoon ice sliding, skating and playing games at Mammouth Village at the Olympic Stadium Esplanade. Spring has truly sprung at the Botanical Garden’s Butterflies Go Free event, part of the Montréal Space for Life‘s spring break activities. Play board games, video games and more for free at Festival Montréal Joue, ongoing to March 12. Story You May Have Missed
How San Diego can you get?!
Graduate of San Diego's Will C. Crawford High School, founding committee member of the San Diego Comic-Con, one of Jack Kirby's San Diego Five String Mob, and leader of Dr. Raoul Duke and His All-Human Orchestra, may I present my brainy professor pal -- Roger Freedman!!! Scott Shaw post

UCSB professor recalls early days of San Diego’s premiere event

COMIC-CON 2019: PROFESSOR DOUBLES AS A COMIC BOOK HERO
You may know Roger Freedman as a professor of physics at UCSB. Look again.
On Page 8 of Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen 144 (1971), Dr. Freedman, with his long red hair and glasses, is standing with the San Diego Five String Mob, as the Guardian and Superman look on. “Dig those weird instruments they play!” Terry Dean tells the superheroes.
Little do the trio know that Dr. Freedman and his friends are actually in league with one of DC Comics’ most powerful villains – Darkseid! Egads!
Dr. Freedman became immortal in DC Comics canon because of someone he met at the first San Diego Comic-Con: the legendary Jack Kirby.
Mr. Kirby (1917-1994) co-created Marvel Comics’ Iron Man, Captain America, Black Panther, Fantastic Four, and later created DC Comics’ Fourth World stories, which featured Darkseid and his fiery world Apokolips.
From the start, San Diego Comic-Con had big names, even if the first convention only had 300 or so people attending, a modest dealers room with card tables and comics books and movie posters for sale, and only one room with speakers and movies.
“You didn’t see the multi-media stuff you see today,” Dr. Freedman, 66, told the News-Press last week in a meeting room at UCSB Broida Hall.
The first convention, then called San Diego’s Golden State Comic-Con, took place Aug. 1-3 at the U.S. Grant Hotel, and tickets cost $3.50 for three days.
Fans got their money’s worth. Besides Mr. Kirby, the first convention featured legendary sci-fi authors Ray Bradbury and A.E. Van Gogt, Dr. Freedman, 66, said. “That really impressed me.”
Earlier this month, Dr. Freedman spoke on panels about the convention’s history and the science of HBO’s “Game of Thrones” at Comic-Con International: San Diego – specifically the 50th San Diego Comic-Con.
It has grown exponentially from what Dr. Freedman experienced that first year.
Around 130,000 fans, many of them dressed as superheroes and villains and characters from other realms of fantasy and animation, walked around a convention that has grown beyond the San Diego Convention Center and taken over nearby hotels and the downtown historic Gaslamp Quarter.
Fans often wait for many hours to see the latest stars, especially in Ballroom 20 or Hall H, which seats 6,500 fans. There’s a long history of fans camping out overnight in grassy areas and parks to get into Hall H, where this year Sir Patrick Stewart talked about reprising his famous “The Next Generation” character in the upcoming “Star Trek: Picard” series on CBS All Access.
Only Mr. Kirby knew how big San Diego Comic-Con would get, Dr. Freedman recalled.
“Jack made the comment, ‘Some day everything is going to be at this convention. All the TV studios are going to be here. All the media is going to be here,’ ” Dr. Freedman said, recalling a story he heard from comic book and TV writer Mark Evanier. “”Mark’s response was, ‘Sure, Jack, whatever you say. Let’s go get lunch.’
“Jack was exactly right,” Dr. Freedman said.
The lifelong sci-fi fan recalled how much easier it was to get an autograph or talk with a star in those early years.
“You would see these guys sitting around the table or around the pool. You would say, ‘Hey, Jack, can you sign this book for me?’ ‘What was it like working with Stan Lee?’ ” Dr. Freedman said. “We didn’t know you weren’t supposed to do that.”
Dr. Freedman and his friends chatted with Mr. Kirby at the first San Diego Comic-Con, and convention founder Shel Dorf later called Mr. Kirby to ask if they could visit him at his Thousand Oaks home. The DC and Marvel Comics legend said that would be fine, and Dr. Freedman recalled one conversation in particular with Mr. Kirby.
“Jack said, ‘I can put anybody in a comic book,'” Dr. Freedman said. “Someone said, ‘How about us, Jack?'”
Mr. Kirby found a way with Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen 144.
“It’s us and Darkseid against Superman,” Dr. Freedman said. “I’m actually part of the DC universe.”
Dr. Freedman skipped San Diego Comic-Con in 1971 when it was at UC San Diego, but returned in 1972 and worked on the con’s program book when the event was at El Cortez Hotel. Besides Mr. Kirby, the special guests included Marvel Comics editor Roy Thomas and Looney Tunes cartoons director Bob Clampett.
Dr. Freedman said his first participation in the masquerade, the Comic-Con event that has grown into elaborate skits with effects and fans in impressive costumes, came in 1974. As an alternative to all the “Star Trek” fans at Comic-Con, he and his friends promoted fandom for “Gilligan’s Island” and went on stage to perform the 1960s CBS show’s theme song, complete with a prop for the line, “The tiny ship was tossed.”
“I had a plastic boat I threw into the audience,” Dr. Freedman said.
“For a while, I was the lead singer of a band that was only at Comic-Con. It was Dr. Raoul Duke and His All Human Orchestra,” Dr. Freedman said. “Dr. Raoul Duke” was a pseudonym for journalist and author Hunter S. Thompson.
Dr. Freedman said Comic-Con grew quickly in the 1970s, thanks to San Diego’s proximity to sci-fi authors and comic book talent and its draw as a vacation destination for the New York City-based comic books industry.
“I can tell you exactly where things got to get big, when the transition started from the original Comic-Con to today,” he said. “It was 1976 when there were 2,000 to 3,000 attendees. The word started getting out to Hollywood types that Comic-Con existed. They thought, ‘We have this movie coming out next year. We think people might be interested in it.’ “
The film was “Star Wars” (1977).
Behind-the-scenes crew sold promotional merchandise at a card table in the dealers room, Dr. Freedman said.
“If I had been smart, I would have bought every sticker and poster (in the dealers room),” he said. “I would be selling them now, and we would be having this conversation on my yacht. But I didn’t, so we’re not.”
Dr. Freedman, who earned his doctorate in physics in 1978 at Stanford University and became a teaching professor of physics in 1983 at UCSB (following a two-year post-doctoral program), continued to attend Comic-Con until the mid-1980s.
When he returned in 2009 for the 40th Comic-Con, he was surprised.
“I was pretty amazed by how large it had gotten,” he said. “I had heard second-hand, but I was pretty amazed by how large it had gotten. It was like 40 of the Comics Cons I remember happening simultaneously in the same room, which was awesome.”
Mr. Freedman, who came back in 2010 and this year, sees the future for San Diego Comic-Con as secure.
“The number of people who want to get in exceeds the number of people get in. It’s up there with Coachella or Burning Man tickets.” *Reposted article from Santa Barbara News-Press by Dave Mason of July 28, 2019.

Activities for snowy days
If you’re in Montréal on a winter day, act like a local and get outside and play in the snow, whether you’re into extreme winter sports or a pleasant walk in the park – be sure to dress for it and follow up with hot chocolate. Take advantage of the many free things to do this winter: go ice skating at Mount Royal Park’s Beaver Lake and Park La Fontaine; spin the giant art-embellished zoetropes of this year’s Luminothérapie interactive art exhibition; or visit the Olympic Stadium Esplanade’s Village Mammouth where there’s also a skating rink, a tube slide, food and drink, and an activity area for kids. And hockey fans can cheer on the Montréal Canadiens (or their rivals) as they take on the Buffalo Sabres on Jan. 21 and Calgary Flames on Jan. 24 at the Bell Centre.
