My brain is unfortunately being eaten up by the au I dreamt about so now I have to decide why Logan is a single dad to Virgil.

Initial thought is mom up and left, full on abandonment, just disappears one day when Virgil is really young. (She was possibly significantly older than him and basically groomed him into the relationship then bailed when she realized the relationship wasn't worth having to take care of an infant.)

Second thought is they married young and quickly realized they weren't actually compatible, divorce was stiff and cold, and they remain distant, especially after mom gave up full custody of Virgil.

Third thought, Logan didn't realize he was in an abusive relationship till he saw her back hand Virgil when he was like five. Took Virgil and ran, gave up basically everything in the divorce to keep custody of Virgil.

Fourth thought, she died due to complications while giving birth to Virgil.

Fifth thought, they realized it was a marriage of convenience/expectation, parted ways amicably. Mom travels for work, but is still somewhat present in Virgil's life.
