EW: Riverdale's Charles Melton discusses that Reggie and Veronica shocker
Isn’t it romantic?
On Wednesday night’s midseason premiere of Riverdale, a new relationship bloomed in the final moments of the episode. After singing the Kander and Ebb classic “Maybe This Time” to the crowd at La Bonne Nuit in what was apparently a bit of foreshadowing (“Maybe this time he’ll stay”), Veronica (Camila Mendes) and Reggie (Charles Melton) shared a steamy first kiss in the deserted club after hours.
Veronica and Archie (KJ Apa) are technically broken up, and Reggie has been her right-hand man at La Bonne Nuit, helping her with everything from breaking Archie out of prison to making secret beer runs through the woods to fill the club’s stores (the legal drinking age in Riverdale remains a mystery to us all). So, it’s fair to say that much of season 3 has been building to this moment by playing up Veronica and Reggie’s palpable chemistry (aided no doubt by Mendes and Melton’s Instagram-official offscreen relationship).
Melton, who has played Riverdale’s resident jock since season 2, tells EW he thinks this moment was something Reggie has wanted for awhile. “I think Reggie secretly has a thing for every girl on the show,” the actor jokes. “But I think this has been something that’s been a long time coming.
“It was something [I] anticipated through doing my research and reading the comics, and seeing there was a lot of back-and-forth and a lot of different relationships between the core four and Reggie,” Melton adds. “I kind of anticipated it, even in season 2. I found out before we started filming season 3 that there was going to be some sort of relationship between Reggie and Veronica.”
For those wondering if that kiss was just a heat-of-the-moment thing after they successfully turned the tables on Veronica’s father, Melton says it’s not and that there’s still more to come. “You’ll definitely see this relationship grow,” he teases. “Not only will you see this relationship grow, but you’ll see their working relationship and how that all ties into everything.… I think fans are going to be excited to see the evolution of this new relationship.”
Riverdale fans can be quite vocal about their shipping, sometimes taking things to the extreme. But Melton says he’s not too worried about the wrath of Varchie lovers. For one, he largely stays off social media, and for another, he hopes the storyline will convince some to come around. “Hopefully we can turn some Varchie fans into Veggie fans after they see the kiss and really see how much Reggie cares about Veronica,” he says. Yes, this ship name is really Veggie. Just accept it now.
That said, Melton does hint that Archie might not be happy if he survives to learn about this new development.“When you’re in a relationship and it’s endgame, and then something happens, I wouldn’t suspect anybody would be happy about that,” he says.
Mostly, Melton is excited for fans to get to see a softer, gentler Reggie they haven’t fully encountered yet. “I knew [the storyline] was going to allow me to show a different layer of Reggie, a different side of Reggie that people hadn’t seen,” he says. “This sensitivity, this vulnerability that we have yet to see.”
For those who question Reggie’s motives — he did, after all, once sell Jingle Jangle and help Archie start a gang war with the Serpents — Melton says that’s all in the past. “Reggie’s support for Veronica will not waver. Reggie is very honest, and maybe he might be a little bit more reactionary than most,” he says. “But, yes, we can definitely trust Reggie.”
That’s good because things are about to get even more intense in Riverdale. While this week found Reggie sporting a black eye and bruises at the hands of the Gargoyle gang and later helping the Serpents rough up some Gargoyles, Melton says there’s plenty more action in store. “With the crime rate rising in Riverdale and all these moving pieces that are happening, I think we can definitely expect more of that,” he hints.
The Serpents are now in Veronica’s, and by extension Reggie’s, employ as protection at her nightclub. At this point, there are only a few members of the original Riverdale crew who haven’t been officially inducted as Serpents, and Reggie has already been in on one of their jobs, so can a Serpent tattoo be far away? “Oh my gosh, wouldn’t that be a dream?!” Melton muses. “You’re just going to have wait and see.”
One thing he can guarantee: Fans will have the chance to connect with Reggie in new ways in upcoming episodes. “You’re going to really see a vulnerable side of Reggie,” Melton concludes. “I think people are really going to empathize with what he’s going through.”

The Southsider (pt. 5)
Sweet Pea x reader
Chapter Summary: School isn't going too well for y/n, but there are both old and new friends that have her back. And later, she prepares for her first date.
Author's Note: y/i means "your initial"
Word Count: 2410
Chapter 1 • Chapter 4 • Chapter 6
Tumblr media
You walked into Biology with a big smile on your face. Sweet Pea had just asked you out. You felt people staring at you, but you didn't care. You didn't care how they looked at you or what they were saying about you. Sweet Pea had just asked you out.
"Hey." Toni said as you sat at your joined table you two shared together. "You okay?"
"Huh? Yeah, I'm good."
"Are you sure?" She put a hand on your shoulder.
"What? Oh, yesterday. Um, lot of crying, lot of drama, found out some stuff about my mom, but Sweet Pea was there for me the whole time. And, uh, yeah." You fiddled with your pen.
"And what?" Toni teasingly smiled.
"We may have started going out." You looked up. "And we have a date later today."
She playfully pushed your shoulder. "I'm so happy for you!"
"Am am I." Cheryl said, smiling. "Today we're supposed to work in groups of three. Is that okay with you, raggamuffin?"
"Sure." Toni said, scooting her chair away as Cheryl brought up a chair in between you two.
"Don't worry, you'll get used to her." You said.
"You talking to me or her?" Toni asked.
"Yes." You smiled.
"Anyways," Cheryl said. "Before we get on the topic of that date, what did you learn about your mom?"
"Oh, about that." You took the jacket out of your backpack. Both of them were shocked. You nervously laughed. "So funny story."
You explained to them everything that happened, from what happened at Jughead's trailer to the letter. "Wow." Cheryl said.
"Yeah." Toni agreed. "So, are you going to join?"
"I don't know. I'm thinking about it."
"You should start thinking about going back to the Southside." Some bulldog said as he passed your table.
"And you should start thinking of getting your head out of your ass." You said sweetly. "It's not a hat." You then turned to Cheryl and Toni, who were both trying to hold in their laughter. "So yeah, that's the story."
"Alright," Cheryl said, still smiling from your comment. "Back to the date. What are you going to wear?"
"This?" You didn't think anything was wrong with your outfit. It was just jeans and a t-shirt with the Back to the Future car on it.
"Yeah, if you guys were going to a classic rock concert. You do have clothes better than this, right?"
You shifted in your seat. "No. All I have are novelty tees and jeans. I don't see anything wrong with that."
"And there's nothing wrong with that." Toni interrupted.
Cheryl shook her head. "Okay, here's the plan. After school you and I are going to my house, where we will find you the perfect attire for your date with that tall gang member."
"Uh, okay. I just need to go shopping for food first. I haven't had anything to eat in my house for a few days now."
"Then it's settled. I'll go grocery shopping with you, then we go to my house to make you a better you." Toni rolled her eyes as Cheryl smiled.
As you went to second period, you felt the stares of people burning into your back. You told yourself that it wouldn't get to you, but you were beginning to get fed up. Instead of being embarrassed and sad like you thought, you were just annoyed. You didn't even know most of these people. They had no right to talk about you.
During break you were heading to your locker, finding Fangs in the hallway. You two had the same third period, so he went with you. As you two walked together you felt people stare at you.
One person harshly bumped your elbow, making you stumble into Fangs. "Hey!" Fangs yelled. "Apologize."
"Fangs it's fine." You tapped his arm. "Let's just go." You were a little happy that someone new had your back. The Serpents really were loyal, even when you only knew them for a short time.
As you got to your locker there was a crowd of people around it. You and Fangs slipped your way through to find someone had written Southside Slut on it. This one hurt.
You slowly unlock your locker, and open it. Suddenly it's slammed shut by a guy in a letterman jacket. A bulldog. He's expecting you to be mad, but you couldn't have that. You give him a smile. "So, how's Reggie?"
"Suspended because of you. For two weeks. And he's off the basketball team." He glared.
"Aw, RIP." You flash a smile.
"But don't worry," he says. "Until then we'll carry out what he wanted."
You scoffed. "You know, I am so fed up with all of you. None of you even knew I was from the Southside, and we sure as hell didn't have a problem then. I don't even know you."
You unzipped your backpack. Taking out the jacket, you slipped it on. It was a good fit. You grabbed your textbook, slamming the locker shut. You then leaned on your locker, smiling. "Tell your mouth breathing leader that I say thank you, for making me remember where I came from. Because of him, I think I'll embrace my roots." You then turned to a shocked Fangs. You grabbed your backpack, slinging a strap around your shoulder. "Let's go."
After their period the two of you went to English together. Sweet Pea was already there. Fangs went in before you, quickly going to Sweet Pea and hitting him on the shoulder. "Dude." He said, smiling. Sweet Pea looked at his friend in confusion, until he saw you walking to your desk in a Southside Serpent jacket. He sat up quickly and smiled at you. Were you going to do it?
As you sat Toni passed you a note. It told you to send a picture of your outfit, as well as her number. You gave her an okay sign with your hand. Sweet Pea and Fangs looked at the two of you confused.
After the bell rang you walked towards the school library, where your friends always meet up for lunch. Sweet Pea walked right in front of you l, gently ghosting his left hand over your right hip, barely touching. He leaned into your ear. "I'll pick you up at your house at 5." He whispered, kissing just below your ear.
He then walked off smoothly, with you watching him go as you put your hand where his kiss was. You snapped out of your daze when you couldn't see him anymore and continued walking. You sat down next to Kevin when you got there.
"Jug, Bets-" You began.
"Look, I wanted to say that I'm sorry. My dad shouldn't have kept that from you for so long, and I-" Jughead cut you off.
"Jug." You got his attention. "It's fine. I read the letter, I get it. I'm not mad anymore. I'm sorry for overreacting."
"No, y/n. You didn't overreact." Betty said. "We understand that you were going through an emotional time, and it was perfectly okay to react the way you did."
"Thanks guys." The three of you went into a group hug. The other three joined in.
"Betty told us about everything. Sorry if you didn't want us to know." Archie explained.
"No, it's fine. I'm okay now."
"So," Veronica said. "Are you going to join the Serpents? You're wearing the jacket."
"Yeah, I think it'll be good for me." You nodded, looking at Archie. He was still your friend, and has had run-ins with the Serpents before.
"We support you, no matter what." Archie said. You beamed and nodded your head giddily.
You meet up with Cheryl at the outside of the gym after school. You both go to the grocery store and shop for food. "If you want something, I don't mind getting it for you." You offer.
"No thanks." She said, looking around. "Shouldn't your guardian or something be shopping for food instead?"
"It's just me looking after myself." You explain. "My aunt sends money while she's on her business trips. She sometimes doesn't send enough, so I picked up a job at Pop's. I mean I don't have any parental figure breathing down my neck, so I'm fine."
But you weren't. You were lonely. Sure, you have Jughead and FP, but you didn't feel like you belonged with them. Hopefully the Serpents would change that feeling.
You went to your house and put your groceries on the kitchen counter. You then went to Cheryl's house. As you entered the mansion, you went to a living room where Cheryl's mom and grandma were. "Mother, Nana Rose, this is y/n."
Her mom glared at you, as if looking down upon you. "Oh, dear," Nana Rose said. "You look just like your mother."
She then gained your attention. "You knew my mom?" There was something about her that was unsettling, although you also felt that she was harmless.
"Oh yes. Sweet little thing. Her mother abandoned her when she was so young, going on about not being ready or whatnot. She was always such a stickler. How is she, by the way?"
"Um, she passed away four years ago."
"How awful. I bet that man she was dating had something to do with it. I never did like him."
You let out a humorless laugh. "Me neither." Cheryl then led you to her room.
While Cheryl was looking for an outfit for you I'm her walk-in closet, you were looking at all her lipsticks. "I get that your Nana is creepy and stuff, and I'll just let that go since I have a soft spot for old people, but what's up with your mom?"
"Mother is horrendous." She said from the closet. "She dislikes it when I only bring one person to my room."
You were confused by that response. You would understand if it were a guy. Then it clicked. "Oh my God!" You said, walking towards the closet. "You're bi."
She quickly turned around. "Excuse me?"
"Holy crap you are!"
"I don't appreciate you making accusations about me. Especially when I invited you into my home." She stomped over to you.
You sighed and walked to the bed, taking a seat. "Sit." You gently said. She stared at you, but reluctantly agreed as she sat next to you with a huff. "Cheryl, I don't give a crap what your sexuality is." You laughed. "It doesn't make you any different. And I promise I won't tell anyone."
She looked straight ahead, refusing to look at you. She kept a straight face. "So there's nothing wrong with me?"
"No." You urged.
"People look at me differently." Her voice was starting to waver.
"People look at you the same way they look at me. It's because of our crazy ass family, not your sexuality. Okay?"
"Okay." She sounded like she was crying. You gave her a side hug and put your head on her shoulder.
"Hey, this is kind of like our first date, huh?" She shrugged you off as you giggled.
She then got up and grabbed an outfit. You snorted and looked down at your hands, smiling. "What?"
You then quietly say, "You're in the closet." You bursted out laughing.
"Just put this on!"
You took a look at yourself in her mirror. You wore tight leather pants and a dark green crop top. You ran your hands over your stomach, not used to showing this much skin. "I feel like I look awkward."
"Nonsense, your greasy snake boyfriend with love it." She said, choosing to ignore the look you gave her. "Sit. I need to do your makeup."
She put a dark burgundy lipstick on you. She put on a small amount of eye liner and blush. She then put your hair in a half bun half down style.
She took a step back, examining her work. She then snapped her fingers, going into one of her many drawers. "Of course. You need a choker." The choker she handed you had a design of little black vines with tiny red roses on them. You put it on. "Perfect."
You smiled. "Okay, I usually hate taking pictures of myself, but I told my friends I would. Do you want to take some pictures together?" She smiled back.
After taking a few pictures, you went to your jacket and took out your camera from your pocket. "One more picture." She looked at it, amused. "Don't judge. This thing is special."
Cheryl led you downstairs, where her mom and grandmother still were. "Oh my," Nana Rose said. She reached out for your hands, which you took. "Are you going somewhere dear?"
"Yeah. I'm going somewhere with someone special."
She gently squeezed your hands. "Well have fun dear."
"Thank you so much." You smiled. "I'm so glad that Cheryl has at least one family member who isn't evil." She laughed in return, giving her daughter-in-law a look of triumph. She let go of your hands. "Bye guys."
As Cheryl compressed her laughter, she led you the door. "Have fun. Your serpent boy will be pleased with you."
"Thanks." You laughed. "You know, you and Toni would look really cute together."
She gave you an annoyed look. "Bye now." And with that she closed the door.
When you got home you texted a picture of yourself to your friends.

You then heard a knock. You checked yourself though your phone and stuffed it in your pocket. You opened the door to a Sweet Pea who wasn't wearing his jacket. He only had his black flannel and a smile on his face.
"Wow."

Three Months: Part 4
Tumblr media
Pairing: Nothing major right now, but Reggie x Reader, Twin!Andrews Word count: 1,452 Warnings: Mentions of sexual assault, unwanted pregnancy Description: This is the fourth part to the series. (Y/N) Andrews has to come clean about what’s been eating her up lately. How is everyone going to take it? ****A/N: I’m so sorry I accidentally posted on my personal account!! So here it is (again) in it’s correct place! Please let me know if there’s anything you guys want to see in this fic because I’m currently struggling with introducing everyone. I want to get to the good bits haha.
The Five Seasons // Part 1  // Part 2 // Part 3
The dusk light filling the living room was only growing darker as (Y/N)’s pacing continued. She knew it was best to get it over and done with. Although she felt like it may be the hardest thing she would ever have to say. She took a deep breath and finally halted, turning to face Fred and Archie on the couch. Fred honestly didn’t know what she was going to say. Although there was a long list of things he was hoping she wouldn’t say. (Y/N) looked to Archie for reassurance before screwing her eyes shut.
“I’m pregnant.” She breathed out, daring to open her eyes to see her dad’s reaction. He sat, stunned for a moment. Then he frowned and ran his hands over his face, letting out a quiet groan as he leaned back into the couch. “Please tell me you’re joking?” He didn’t know how to react. Every emotion and every question was buzzing around his mind. “Who’s the father?” He asked a little louder, his anger surfacing. (Y/N) hesitated as she studied her dad’s disappointed expression. “Veronica’s friend… Nick Saint-Clair.” She choked out, fiddling with her nails. “Ex-friend,” Archie added, trying to be supportive. “The fancy one that lives in New York?” Fred thought he was thankful that it wasn’t Reggie’s, but he knew Nick’s stay was brief. So this was obviously a one-night stand. (Y/N) only nodded, wringing her hands as she tried to figure out what her dad was thinking. “So you had a one night stand?” He shook his head, “And cheated on Reggie? I thought you were better than that.” Archie was about to speak when (Y/N) jumped in before him. “I know. I was drunk, and dumb. I’m sorry dad.” Her voice wavered as she tried to blink back the tears pooling yet again. Archie was horrified. She was trying to downplay this. Even still, as she was pregnant with her rapist’s child, she wasn’t going to tell her dad what really happened. “Yeah… me too.” Fred spoke quietly but the disappointment in his tone was strong. He shook his head again and got up from the couch, leaving the room. Neither of the Andrews twins moved after him. The slam of the front door indicated Fred’s departure into the night. “Why didn’t you tell him the truth?” Archie demanded once he knew it was safe to talk. Archie was furious his sister would rather throw herself under the bus and face the fury of her dad than be honest. (Y/N) dropped into the armchair and looked at Archie sadly. “I didn’t want to break his heart twice in one night.”
“Wait, so let me get this straight,” Veronica and Archie sat on his bed, abandoned guitar between them. They had been writing and practicing songs all morning for their upcoming school performance, but Veronica noticed Archie was off. He finally cracked and told her everything that had happened the previous night. Including the fact that their dad didn’t come back until late, and when he did, he smelt of beer and cigarettes. “She told your dad that she was pregnant, but failed to mention that it was a product of rape?” Archie just shrugged. Admittedly he struggled to use the word or refer to it. He didn’t like to think about what had happened. “That is so-“ Veronica struggled for a word, growing frustrated. “Bullshit.” Archie offered. She couldn’t find a better word herself, although it didn’t fully express how angry she felt about the situation. “Yeah.” She sighed, nodding in agreement. “Why is it that rapists go unaffected, while their victims are left to pick up the pieces?” Archie placed his hand on Veronica’s knee in support, but she pushed it off angrily. She gave him a look as if to say ‘no, I will not calm down’. She knew exactly what he was insinuating. Instead she stood and began to pace his room. “It’s just not fair. Nick raped your sister and she’s just going to let your dad believe she cheated on her boyfriend with a stranger. And she’s too precious to admit the truth, she’d rather take shit from your dad because she doesn’t want to upset anyone.” Veronica was ranting furiously, arms flailing about to reinforce her point. There was no knock at the door before it was forcefully swung open. Fred stood in the doorway, having overheard the whole conversation on his way to his room. Veronica looked at Archie guiltily, hoping he would handle the situation. She had never seen Fred so angry, and honestly, neither had Archie. “Are you…” Fred struggled for words, trying to keep his voice calm and his thoughts straight. “Dad,” Archie sighed, getting up from his bed and moving closer. “(Y/N)… she was raped.” There was no other way to put it. The word felt heavy and bitter in his mouth. He didn’t know how much detail he should divulge. How much his dad wanted to know. He agreed with his sister in way, he could hardly tell their dad the gritty details. How those panic attacks she was dealing with were related to that night. How she had tried to go through an abortion alone but panicked and changed her mind. How terrified she was to tell anyone out of fear she would be ridiculed and shamed. Fred’s jaw clenched along with his fists. Archie didn’t bother calling after him as he stormed down the stairs. It was the second time the front door had been slammed that week. “Sorry Arch.” Veronica mumbled softly, resting her hand on his arm. He turned and wrapped an arm around her. “No, at least he knows now.” He admitted, placing a kiss to Veronica’s forehead.
(Y/N) fiddled with her straw as Reggie babbled on about something across from her. Pop’s was fairly quiet that day, for which she was thankful. Her mind wandered, creating multiple scenarios that could arise from her telling Reggie the truth. They weren’t technically together. They had been on and off for two years, but they both cared about each other. He was furious when he found out about what Nick had done. If he hadn’t already have left town, (Y/N) was certain Reggie and Archie would have gone after him. “Are you even listening?” Reggie’s hand waving in front of her face snapped her back to reality. “Sorry,” She sighed, shaking her head. Reggie’s annoyed expression changed into concern as he reached for her hand across the table. “What’s going on?” He asked gently, his thumb rubbing over the soft skin on the back of her hand. “I-I’m pregnant…. three months pregnant.” She hesitated. Reggie’s grip on her hand tightened, his expression unreadable. She expected him to yell but he remained quiet. She watched his expression change, eyebrows furrowing and straightening as he thought. “Three months?” He finally asked, looking up at the terrified girl in front of him. She nodded silently. Reggie only sighed and shook his head. It wasn’t his. He wondered, for a moment, how he would have felt if it were. Excitement bubbled up in him at the idea, although he wouldn’t be ready, he felt he would make a great dad. The feeling of excitement was dulled as he reminded himself the baby wasn’t his. It was too much to take in. He loved (Y/N), but their relationship wasn’t stable. He wasn’t the best boyfriend and he was hardly what she needed right now. So he reacted in the only way he knew how, by withdrawing. “Can you please say something?” (Y/N) pleaded, his silence was too much for her. “I don’t want it.” Reggie shook his head, pulling his hand away from hers and leaning back in the booth. Her mouth hung open at his cold words. “You think I do?” Her voice cracked in shock as she asked. “Well why didn’t you deal with it?” She couldn’t believe how quickly Reggie had turned into this person she barely knew. His gaze was cold and unknowing, as if she were a stranger. As if they hadn’t spent the last two years sharing intimate thoughts and moments. He looked at her as if he hadn’t just added to her nightmare.   “I tried to. I couldn’t go through with it.” Her voice cracked as she let a few tears slide, quickly wiping them away, aware of the few people around them. Reggie just shook his head and stood. “It’s not my problem.” He dumped a few dollar bills on the table and stalked off, not even looking back at her as he left. He knew that if he did, his heart would break. He didn’t mean to upset the girl he really, truly loved.

What Disney Princess Are You? Part 5/Last Part (Reggie Fic-One Shot)
Summary: It wasn’t everyday you see Reggie Mantle bothered by one message he receives on his phone at school one day, especially about a certain girl nonetheless. Though as he tried to keep himself together of the situation, a sudden curiousness of words from the core four may have solved his problem, or was it just the company itself from these so-called misfits he needed as well to find the answer himself?
Word Count: 3423
Notes: Unfamiliar characters mentioned or presented are part of my own Riverdale au (more detail into them in the future), specifically the Reggie-verse.
Chapters: 5
Warnings: Reggie being a less than usual jerk.
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4
Reggie thought to himself how much time had passed since he last saw those messages from earlier. Not long he thought, though not thinking about replying back to what he just saw either. Then again he didn’t think he would be spending this much time with these guys, let alone conversing with them more than mere insults that he would make as his goal for the day. Yet as the rest of the group continued to immerse themselves more on the topic, everything around him seemed to become silent as he became lost in his own thoughts.
He thought to himself how much of a distraction this intriguing yet slightly enjoyable conversation has been for him. Not realizing that the more time he spent here with all these losers that he admittingly called his classmates, he knew he was avoiding the one thing he was trying figure out in the first place. And that was fixing the mess he made. Clearly enough, he tried to figure in his head how he could still do that and maybe asking for help was his only option left. Probably the only option. Though as he was about to open his mouth, words hit him hard enough in his head to understand its meaning the moment they were said.
“If not one can fix it, then you just have to fix it yourself, especially if it is something that is your doing in the first place. Those who don’t are just cowards.” The voice of Veronica Lodge brought him back to reality, her words sinking into his brain.
“What did you say?”  Reggie’s words flying out of his mouth without warning to them or himself, before he knew he was going to say anything back.
Unfazed by his outburst of a question, Veronica as well as everyone else looked at him giving him the update of what he missed while being immersed in his own problem that somehow was about to have a solution.
Veronica continues on, looking at Reggie as she speaks “People who aren’t able to solve their own problem or face what they fear most are cowards. Such as a curse can’t stay a curse forever.” She changes her attention to Archie, smiling as she finishes “Love always win when you are brave enough to fight for it. Don’t you guys agree?”
Everyone nods. Reggie nods as well, but slower as he let the words sink, eyes lowered in the process. He grips on his backpack that has been hanging on his shoulders the whole time he has been there.
“Love of all things delicious and dangerous is what keeps me from being cursed. Put that in your fairytale storybook.”  Sweet Pea remarks at her statement, crossing his arms.
“Thanks, Sweet Pea. I sure will.” Jughead responds right back, grinning from ear to ear. Sweet Pea’s eyes peer towards him, wondering what he was so smug about as he was looking at his laptop. Though before he could guess, Jughead shows them what he was working on his computer this whole time, spinning the laptop to everyone’s line of sight, “Along with this picture of you as Snow White.”  Jughead slowly jumps out of his seat, moving out of Sweet Pea’s as well as Fangs’s reach, still holding the laptop in everyone’s direction. Sweet Pea’s eyes widen at the sight of himself on Jughead’s screen “And Fangs as your evil stepmother.” Jughead scurries around the area where they were all sitting with Sweet Pea and Fangs chasing him right behind him as he predicted.
“Jones, give that to me so I can delete it! How white do you think I am?” Sweet Pea shouted back. A game of tag began to commence around the room as Sweet Pea and Fangs ran around chasing Jughead for his laptop that contained the image that was more amusing than just the person themselves in it.
“I think a snow amount.” Jughead grins in reply, his legs still moving at quick pace to get not get caught, gripping on his laptop that still showed the images clearly as he did.
They all seem to have the stamina to keep this up for a while as Fangs and Sweet Pea try to corner Jughead at every turn, but he somehow seem to slip right past them in a different direction with a mischievous grin on face.
“Photoshop must be Jughead’s best friend right now.”  Archie says as he begins laughing at the scene that was going around them.
“Ain’t that the truth. I don’t think he’ll be stopping anytime soon. At least for today.” Toni says, laughing at the three as well. Veronica and Betty began to join in at the amusement that was unfolding around them, wondering how in the world they can manage to keep up with each other especially with Jughead’s high-paced energy at the moment. It must have been the pizza they thought to themselves laughing. Reggie feels the same as them as a slight grin starts showing on his face that nobody could notice as their attention was towards the entertainment that was running around them.
Yet before he could join in on the laughter that finally felt could give him peace of mind for a short time, he rushes out without another word. He didn’t think anyone would notice as he back turned from them, but everyone did at his departure to their surprise, eyes traveling towards him as he left the scene where he never thought he could get much enjoyment out of for once. Thoughts of gratitude flow from his mind for everyone that was there without wanting to admit it through words psychically as he raced himself back to the place where needed to be. A smile rising from his face, unknowingly to those he abruptly left behind, thinking to himself on the way there... those guys aren’t as useless as he thought.
----------Several Moments Later-------
As he reaches for the door, his hand covered in sweat from the unwillingness to know what was waiting for him after it was opened and the fact he jogged his way all the way to his destination. It didn’t take him long to arrive at his place of travel though the thought of actual arriving when he wondered if he could get away with what he tried his best to fix in the time that he did made him a little weak in the knees. Before he could reach for the doorknob, the door swings right open in front of him, a familiar voice echoed close through his ears. Too close.
“Reginald. It’s about time you got here.”  A woman with a tall stature about the height of an average size football player could be emerges from behind the front door. Reggie raises his eyes to the person who called his true name. For him, that wasn’t a good sign.
“Hey sis!”  A striding smile appears on his face trying to hide his fear as he looks at her, entering into the establishment he calls home.
“Hey, deadmeat of a brother!” His sister responds in an ever so politely tone of voice as she closes the door behind him but in an instant her expression changes from one of pure innocence and liking to the one he knew all too well...pure terror. Reggie starts slowly moving backwards away from the door, raising his hands thinking it would be some sort shield to protect him for what was about to come next.
Reggie tries to attempt to speak to his sister, thinking maybe some sibling words of persuasion will soften the blow. She slowly walks towards him. “Thalia, before you go setting my deathbed on this wonderful day. I----”  Before he could say another word, a high-pitched voice called out to him.
“Gi-Gi!”  A little girl no more than a feet above his knees came rushing towards him with excitement in her eyes. “You’re finally home!” Grabbing his legs around her little arms as he felt a tug of her pulling him down to her eye level. He brings himself down to see her face, revealing a hint of glitter in certain areas of her nose and forehead. He glances to see her wearing a crown on her head that seemed a little big for her head as it was slanted to one side, but the little girl didn’t seem to mind. Her little hand lightly bops him in the head with her tiny fist that he didn’t even feel it. “And you’re late!”  She pouts, expressing a little sadness in her eyes.
“Ouch!”  Pretending to show a hurt expression in front of her to her delight as she hit him. “I’m sorry. I had something to do at school.”
Her cute, high-pitched voice rose with each word she saying, “Where is it? Where is it?” She bobbed her head in every direction as if she was looking for something. Reggie grins in response to her actions, taking a deep breath.
“Where’s what?”  Reggie shows a confused expression towards her, knowing full well what she was talking about.
“My present! My present! Did you forget what day it is?”  Her energy not wavering, though her smile instantly turned to a frown at her words.
Reggie placed a smile in front of her as he adjusts her crown, reassuring her with his words “I’m just kidding. Of course, I do! How could I forget?”  The little girl’s face lights up back again at his words, not doubting them at all.
“You do! You do!”  She shouts, sounding more like a cheer than a question. Then without trouble, he picks her up, light as a feather as it appeared, putting her on his shoulders, her face showing no fear at the height difference displayed below her little stature. Reggie slowly bends his knees down, to where he could reach out for the one thing he needed to give.
“I have it right here.” Bringing his backpack out in front of her where she could see as she hovered above him, holding on to his shoulders for support. He took her from his shoulders laying her back to her feet in front of him. She looks at him curiously, still smiling as she watches him in anticipation.
“Happy Birthday, Raeni.” Out from his backpack, his hand holds out a small object. A doll. It was no bigger than the size of his hand yet it was covered in image of a princess. Dress. Long Hair. Even a crown to top it off. A princess doll, that was it. Though looking at it closer, it wasn’t just in the image of any princess. It was in the image of her. She was the princess he made.
Her small eyes grew wide with surprise. Unsure if it was a good or bad sign, Reggie’s heart began hammering in his chest waiting for an answer. A sign that he did something right.
Silence took over, to which felt like forever in Reggie’s mind. Finally she spoke.
“It looks better than it did before!”  She exclaims, her smile widening as she hugs it to her chest.
“Really now?”  Taken aback by her answer, shifting his head a bit wondering if what she said was true.
“Princess’s oath of honor!”  Her little fingers crossing each other, shaping it into a heart to him as she shouted the words. “I’ll be right back!”  She voices as she scurried her little legs away from him towards the end of the hall. As Reggie watches her, he breathes out a sigh of relief, his shoulders releasing from the tension he felt all day.
Suddenly he feels a slap at his back behind him,“So you did manage to fix it after all! All those texts must have done the trick!”  Thalia pops out in front of him, giving off a slight smirk towards him as he still felt a bit of her slap vibrating through him.
“You said I was dead if I didn’t--”  Reggie responds back, but is cut off a moment later as he stands up to face her.
“When did I say that? I said she won’t forgive you. That’s a lot worse than death, you know. Think of all the long-term grudges this little one can pull with that cheeky look of hers. And who do you think she gets that from?”  Thalia positions her hands that were in fists at her hips, looking straight at him, eye to eye.
“From you.” Reggie answers, clear as a bell.
“Excuse me, you’re the player of the family. The big brother who gets the girls but never brings them home because they’re not good enough to meet his cute little sister. And what about me? The big sister. Don’t you care about my opinion?”  She reverberates back in an exasperated tone that seemed to be believable, but not to Reggie. He knew her all too well.
He just bursts himself with truth in his lips replying, “Because I know, you’ll scare the panties right off them, bra included!”
She laughs at his comment. “That is not true! I don’t scare.”  Thalia insists, putting one hand on her hip and the other pointing straight at him with her finger. She spoke, a wide grin appearing as she did. It was silent for a moment.“I terrify.”
Reggie slumps his shoulders, rolling his eyes at her response. Sighing at the relief he felt knowing his work was done, “At least she didn’t notice---”
But he spoke too soon as Thalia interrupts him, “Oh she definitely noticed. But nice try. Though I got to hand it to you, you did much better at sewing that thing than I thought you would. You must have been practicing haven’t you?”
“Practice? What your talking about? I don’t practice. How did you know I did anything with it?”  Reggie quickly brushes off her words, wondering how she could know what he did.
As questions pop into his mind, she grabs his hand, revealing to her a hand patched with bandages. His hand.
Usually nothing would hurt him when it came to anything physical like playing sports or anything emotional considering he never had anything serious with anyone he cared to mention more than once. But this was someone he did care about and he knew it was something he had to do himself. He looked at his hand that was covered with bandages, Thalia’s eyes still glued to his more than his hand that she was touching that seem to give off a leftover sting from all the times he attempted to fix that thing. Last resort being, a hand-sewn solution, complete with constant mini-stabbing of the sewing needles in attempts to make a completely new doll in his own Reggie aka Big Brother way.
He thought to himself that it was his fault in the first place that he had to fix what he broke. And what he broke was the one thing that his little sister was happily playing with in her arms as a birthday present from him. He knew it was his fault in the first place that he ended up accidentally throwing her doll into the washer the day before without his knowledge that it happened to get a tear the moment it was taken it out. He thought that throwing it in the dryer would cover it up and solve the problem, but he definitely thought wrong as the second he took it out, the stuffing was out as well. He knew he did not want to ask Thalia for help since he knew she would be making fun of him for not noticing it before he cleaned in the first place. He tried leaving his dignity intact in trying to find a way to fix the doll, he even tried asking Midge how to use a sewing machine by asking her in hypothetical terms on the phone as he attempted to use the sewing machine. But that backfired as he made it worse creating a bigger hole in his ever-growing problem. With the hope of solving his doll situation without the need for any help, especially with Raeni’s birthday being the next day, he brought the doll with him to school today thinking he might find an answer there. Even towards the end of school, he could not think of a single thing that is until a conversation between a group of friends helped him find the answer. The whole situation gave him a chuckle, smiling as he decides to reply back to her.
“You knew didn’t you?”
“What? Bet that you would sew it yourself? Of course I did! You have too much pride that body of yours to ask for help when you need it, but then again it was your mess to begin with. I’m just glad you managed to fix it in time.”  Thalia grins back, her teeth shining as she did like she won a big prize, ready to collect. Reggie runs his fingers through his hair as the feeling of restlessness and sense of satisfaction ran through him. He felt relieved of all worry and doubt.
As he contemplates on everything that has happened, Raeni races right towards them again her little legs carrying her to where they stood.
“Hey Gi-Gi! It’s princess time! They’re waiting!”  Her eyes sparkle at the thought of spending her time watching her favorite princesses on the screen again. She tugs on Reggie’s hand trying to pull him towards the direction of the sound of Disney music playing in the background that was heard more loudly with every step he took that pulled him towards it.
“Are you sure about that birthday princess?” He asked her with a hopefully-convincing smile. Wondering if he could save himself a day of watching the disney movies that his energetic little sister knows and loves that he, himself knows just as well that was partially shown through his time with those guys today.
“I’m not a princess today. I’m a queen!” She corrected him, turning around in front of him.
“Yes you are.”  Reggie nodded, as he bends down to look at her.
“And you’re my princess today!”  Putting a sparkly crown on his head and then heading to Thalia, handing her a wand-shaped object. “And Li-Li is the fairy godmother!”
“Now what does our queen request of us?”  Reggie bows to her. Raeni tilts her head to the side thinking, eyes lighting up at her thought-out request.
“To make all the dresses of the disney princesses!”  Raeni declares, spreading her arms out wide as spins with her own dress that she wore for this day.
“That’s---”  Reggie pauses for moment.
“A perfect job for the princess! He got the sewing skills of a dressmaker!”  Thalia shouts with enthusiasm in her voice, finishing his words for him before hew could.
“Yay! Princess Gi-Gi is gonna be my princess maker!”  Raeni’s expression jumps at him, unable to deny her request as he always did. She ran from their sights yet again, repeating those words like a tune as she dashed away from their eyes.
Reggie looks to Thalia, giving her a bit of a glare. “You planned this didn’t you?”
“Hey I just gave her the idea and she just happened to agree with it. Who knew? And after showing those skills in fixing her doll up. A sister's got to find her amusement somewhere. Or should I say sisters?”  Illuminating a teasing grin as she spins her wand around acting her part like a fairy godmother casting a spell.
“Can’t a princess get his rest?”  Angst coming out of his voice, but not good enough to get out of it. Thalia looks at him with contentment rising from her lips, energy already pumping through her like it never went away. Already prepared for what is to come.
“Come on, Princess Gi-Gi, the night has only begun.”  She announces as she pats his shoulder, walking away towards the sound of a musical tune that she as well as he knew well enough to know all the words of and might even be humming the words to already.
Finally in his own silent company, a smile rose above his lips as he watches the two important people in his life, have their way as they always did, but this time he gave in more than he did before because it was someone’s special day. Yet as he heard the voices of his sisters singing to the tunes he could hear from across the hall, he realizes this definitely was a night he could not disappoint. He didn’t need to save the day. He just needed to save himself. After all, he was a princess.
Oh my gosh. I can’t believe I finished this as in I AM SO GLAD I FINISHED THIS. This is actually my first complete work, especially after so long of unfinished works that I am finally gonna be able to continue and dedicating to finishing since I’ve had so much going on. But feel so relieved to have written this fun piece, it was just a fun idea I had at the top of my head and hoping to expand more in future fics, especially my OC’s aka Reggie’s sisters that I decided to introduce. What did you guys think of them? lol  I’ll be reposting them again with a moodboard I made so stay tuned for tht! Well, I best be getting some rest now. Here’s to more to come! Thanks for reading!

E! News: A New Couple Emerges on Riverdale While Archie Gets Attacked By a Bear
(...)
Literally one normal thing happened tonight, and that was that Veronica (Camila Mendes) and Reggie (Charles Melton) finally kissed. Sure sure, she's only single because her boyfriend was trying to kill her dad and he had to run off to Canada after escaping from prison, but that didn't stop us from rooting for Veggie to lock lips with an unexpected passion. (Camila Mendes and Charles Melton are also Instagram-official in real life, but that has nothing to do with anything.)
Veronica and Reggie have been bonding for months. He helped her spring Archie from juvie and has been working at La Bonne Nuit, the speakeasy she owns. That gig actually got dangerous in tonight's episode as Gargoyle gang members attacked him on a supplies run. Just another thing to add to the list of way too many things.
"Yeah, a lot happened. Holy s--t," Melton said over the phone when we asked him about his general reaction to the episode. "A kiss happened, Archie happened, so many moving pieces are happening in this episode."
We eventually got to talking about that kiss, but first...Archie getting attacked by a bear.
"I think that's crazy," Melton said. "Like, Archie got attacked by a bear. How crazy is that? Archie got attacked by a bear with everything that's going on in the town of Riverdale. The crime rates escalating, you know, people dying, Archie gets attacked by a bear. That's pretty crazy."
But was there a moment in the episode that shocked Melton the most when he first read it?
"Yeah, Archie getting attacked by a bear," he said. "But also the kissing scenes, because that just really opened up...it was like a blossoming, between Veggie. And then it's all sweet and beautiful, and then, you know, while that's happening, boom, Archie. Does he die? Does he not die? What happens? I don't know. Really exciting stuff."
While Archie was getting attacked by a bear, Veronica and Reggie were naturally hosting a fancy dress party at La Bonne Nuit like everything was totally normal (or as normal as things can be when a teenager owns a speakeasy), even if they were also simultaneously fending off business attacks from her father.
"It's kind of nice, because like in the midst of everything, all these negative things, all the violence, all the deaths, everything that's going on in Riverdale, to kind of have this escape for everybody, the La Bonne Nuit, is very nice," Melton says. "I think Reggie is kind of living in this fantasy la la land with Veronica, you know, just playing dress up and living a nice life."
Life outside the speakeasy is dangerous for everybody, and it sounds like it's going to get worse before it gets better for everything except for Veggie.
"I think the fans can expect things to escalate a little bit more, and for there to be some sort of result through all this that's happening," Melton said. "But the thing is that Reggie's support for Veronica won't waver."
Their kiss came during a properly climactic moment. Veronica had just performed "Maybe This Time" on stage. Another world away (in Canada), Archie was hallucinating murdering himself with a baseball bat, but in La Bonne Nuit, no one knew that, so Veronica and Reggie finally stared into each other's eyes and started making out.
For Melton, it was perfect timing.
"I didn't think it happened too soon and it didn't happen to late, I think it happened at just the right time," he says.
He thinks that with everything that's going on in each of their lives, they provide the perfect escape, just like La Bonne Nuit does.
"I think it's nice for Reggie to kind of just like open up. I think Reggie deals a lot with what's going on in his personal life at home that he really doesn't have anybody, and to have somebody like Veronica I think, you know, it just feels nice to be with somebody, and I think with Veronica, she's going through so much and has a lot of shit that's going on, I think it's nice for her to have somebody to take her mind off of things, so to speak. I think they're a good match. They're good together."
As Camila Mendes told us when we talked to her earlier this season, "Veronica isn't the type of person to wait around for anybody," so it makes perfect sense that she's moving on from Archie, despite believing they're "end game."
As for whether there will be any guilt felt when Reggie and Veronica discover that they were making out while Archie was dealing with having been attacked by a bear, Melton just laughed.
"Um, no," he said.
The whole gang will soon find out what Archie's been through and Melton says it will have a big impact.
"I think we're going to find out very soon and everyone's going to start coming together," he says, and when asked what that might do to Reggie and Veronica, all he could say was, "It might shake things up a bit."
As for how Veronica and Reggie's relationship will progress, and whether or not Reggie will continue his role as her right hand man in the midst of their making out, Melton couldn't say much, except for this:
"You're just gonna have to wait and see. I have a smile on my face."
