notes:

- there r other side plots, but i haven’t even started to outline them.

- enzo gets kicked out of home at some point, and damon insists that he stay with the salvatores (on damon’s bedroom couch/damon’s bed), giuseppe is still an abusive dick but he’s also pretty absent and very drunk.

- mikaelson parents are similar to canon dynamics-wise, just… milder. human levels of shitty parenting.

- gilberts parents r alive, but jeremy and elena go stay with katherine and jenna every holidays,

- liz has care/davina, good with the girls but also super busy … the girls are always hanging out w/ the salvatores ‘cause liz and giuseppe find it convenient (self-babysitting),

- klaus and damon have a deal where they pretend their injuries were from fighting each other (probably began one day when they did get into a fight and the next day, there were bruises that didn’t match, unspoken agreement/alliance)

- angst. so much angst. 60% internalised homophobia and 40% externalised homophobia.

- enzo works in a bar, plays guitar there some nights. (damon coincidentally turns up whenever live musics playing, eventually says something like “the food at this restaurant is crappy, i just come to watch you play/sing.”) their dynamic is very “i always tease you because that’s just our thing we tease each other but for some reason you snapped at me and are you okay? what’s wrong?” and their friendship began one day when damon was all “I took a liking to you the second you tried to bullshit your way through your forgotten motivational speech assignment in class by just reciting the lyrics to 'Circle of Life’ from the Lion King and seeing how long you could get away with it.” and enzo’s just “yeah. got an a for it, too.”

- enzo’s too stubborn to ask for help and damon’s too stubborn to let it go (and vice versa.) [you showed up at my place in the middle of the night with bruises and blood and you won’t say what happened so I just lead you into the bathroom and clean you up//your hands ache and your knuckles are bleeding and you won’t tell me why so I’m gonna bandage them and hold your hand while we sit here in companionable silence.]

- damon’s very impulsive and acts all ‘i don’t care’ yet he gets up at the crack of dawn to feed the neighbourhood cats. enzo’s all old boots and roughhousing in public, but at home he’s really shakespeare and chamomile tea.

- late at night when enzo can’t sleep he throws pebbles at damon’s window and they go sit on the rooftop, hanging out, sharing a joint and secret smiles while enzo spouts all this deep philosophical bullshit he got out of whichever novel damon’s lent him lately, and damon just listens, commenting here and there, until they eventually fall asleep with their legs tangled and bodies pressed together.
