leah is rebekah's foil but how and where are these two similar, if there are similarities between them at all?

i'd like to think they share a core desire! sure, what they want out of life is completely different, but they both know exactly what that is and will stop at nothing to get it. "i just want to be free," rebekah says to elijah. "i wanted love and happiness and you denied me the freedom to have either!" she screams at klaus. leah will never understand craving romantic love - or family of her own or children or to be human - but oh does she get wanting to be happy. oh does she get wanting to be free. ( and then freya tells dahlia, "i only wanted to be free" and look, all three sisters want to choose their fate. all three resent the ones who would take it away ). also, sass. leah has always admired her big sister's wicked tongue and wanted to be like her in this regard; not that she'll ever admit to it. she's also stolen some of her clothes at least a few times over the centuries, though she'd claim it's out of her duty to be an annoying sibling rather than appreciation for rebekah's fashion

i’m working on a much bigger hc posts about them ( thank you sm @floripire expect a whole ass lebekah essay <3 ) but. just know that i originally made leah when first watching s1 of TO, before i even knew of freya, and the idea was basically ‘well it’s UNFAIR rebekah is the only sister she needs more sister asap’ and then proceeded to give poor bex the biggest goblin of a sister as possible <3 but for real, leah is very different from rebekah on purpose ( even the dark hair was intentional cause i’m dramatic ). i wanted a sis who’s just a scheming and power hungry as theirs brothers. who could not give less about having kids or falling in love or being human ( but who would still give the boys a nasty food poisoning if they even tried to slut shame rebekah on her watch and loves her big sis so fricking much)
