omg I started writing Rotten Work when Separate Ways came out for 4r, my roommate and i were trading off playing the chapters and I'd jot down little lines when it wasn't my turn to play. I'm so fond of this fic for that specific reason LMAO im a sap.

basically, it spans pre-4 to post-4. reader works under wesker ensuring delivery of payment to contractors. they live in self-imposed ignorance, like a real clock-in, clock-out deal, want no part of the moral hell that is working with wesker, etc. ada knows a naive mutt when she sees one, realizes that wesker plans on escalating very soon after 4r, tries to get you out of the danger you don't even realize you're in before it's too late. basically-- Ada got sentimental about the person who hands her paycheck over.

the vibe of the fic is very as seen below.

and then the immediate next paragraph:
