Ilshat Kuzikov - "The cook" from St. Petersburg
Tumblr media
Russian murderer and cannibal who killed for lack of food and medical care.
Ilshat was born on February 27, 1960 in Leninabad (Khujand), Tajikistan, later the family moved to Leningrad (Saint Petersburg). As a child, he was traumatized by one event – in 1971, when Ilshat was only 11 years old, he witnessed the murder of his mother by his own father.
Tumblr media
Ilshat's father had alcohol addiction and he was a domestic tyrant. That day, he severely beat his wife, who later died of injuries. The murder of his mother (and his father himself) affected Ilshat's psychoemotional state, as a result of which he began to show signs of a mental disorder and was registered in a neuropsychiatric dispensary.
Tumblr media
Kuzikov was provided with one-room apartment and began to pay a disability pension. Despite this, Ilshat was unable to lead a socially prosperous lifestyle. Starting in 1982, he became addicted to alcohol. In the mid-1980s, while undergoing another course of treatment, he met a female patient with whom he soon began a romantic relationship. A few months later, Kuzikov married her, but the marriage lasted only two years. During one of the fights with his wife, he attacked her, after which she filed for divorce and left Kuzikov.
Tumblr media
After the collapse of the USSR, Kuzikov lost all his savings, and his social pension was completely devalued. Due to financial difficulties and rising prices, he began to starve. In order not to starve to death, Ilshat working part-time at the local market as a janitor. During this period, his mental state began to worsen. Kuzikov sought psychiatric help several times, but all his requests and complaints were ignored.
Tumblr media
The first victim was Pechenkin – the maniac killed him with a wrench, then dragged the body into the bathroom and dismembered it there. The second victim was Bochkov – was first severely beaten, as drinking companions had a serious fight, and then killed. The third proven victim, Vasilevsky, was a fellow sufferer, they once lay together in a psychiatric hospital. All his victims were also his lovers.
Tumblr media
Throughout his terrible "career", he periodically realized that what he was doing was not normal. He tried to get qualified psychiatric treatment. This information was confirmed at the investigation – Kuzikov not just tried to making himself look good.
Tumblr media
He practically did not disguise himself in any way – he took out the remains in the trash, almost without covering or hiding them. Ilshat washed the apartment of blood only with cold water, since he has no money for cleaning products.
Tumblr media
As a result of the investigation and trial, Ilshat Kuzikov was released from criminal liability due to insanity and sentenced to compulsory treatment in a psychiatric hospital.

Explosions of residential buildings in Russia in September 1999
Tumblr media
25 years ago, Russia was shaken by a series of terrorist attacks. Several apartment buildings were blown up with explosives planted in basements: in Buinaksk, two in Moscow and in Volgodonsk. As a result of the terrorist attacks, 307 people were killed, more than 1,700 people were injured of varying severity or suffered in one way or another. These crimes, sponsored by one of the main Chechen terrorists, Amir ibn al-Khattab, were supposed to be the revenge of Chechen militants for the failed invasion of Dagestan, but eventually served as arguments for the start of the second Chechen war.
Buinaksk (Dagestan), September 4, 64 people were killed and 146 injured
Tumblr media
At the end of August, terrorists drove a KAMAZ truck from a Chechen village to the city. There were five tons of explosives in the back of the truck, disguised with bags of sugar. Knowing that due to the tense situation in the North Caucasus, locals would be on their guard, the terrorists began to prepare for crimes in advance. One of them pretended to be a watermelon merchant and took up a position in the courtyard of a five-story building, where most of the families of officers of the 136th Motorized Rifle brigade lived.
Tumblr media
The attackers' plan worked: the residents of the house were used to seeing GAZ-52 with watermelons in their yard and on the evening of September 4 didn't pay attention to it. No one knew that there were 2.7 tons of explosives in the back of the car. That evening, many officers were delayed on duty because of an important meeting - and therefore there were mostly women and children in the apartments. When the clock showed 21:45, there was an explosion.
Tumblr media
Two entrances of the building, each of which contained 15 apartments, turned into ruins. There was a huge hole in the middle of the house. The house was torn out in the middle, destroyed along the slabs.
Moscow, September 8, 106 people were killed and 690 injured
Tumblr media
Most of the 14 tons of explosives for the crimes were manufactured at the mineral fertilizer plant in Urus-Martan, and then packaged in sugar bags. Under the guise of the CEO of the company, the leader of the attack rented a place for "sugar" in the warehouse. To lull the vigilance of the residents, a couple of days before the delivery of the deadly cargo from the warehouse, promoters hired by terrorists walked through the apartments of the house. They claimed that the sugar trade was about to begin on the ground floor of the house.
Tumblr media
On September 8 at 23:59 an explosion broke out. It simultaneously brought down two central entrances of building, visually dividing the house into two parts. This crime came as a surprise not only to people, but also to the special services. No one expected that residential buildings would become the target of terrorists.
Tumblr media
The explosion sowed panic among Moscow citizens: people were afraid to spend the night in their apartments, so sometimes they even bought tents and sleep in parks.
Moscow, September 13, 124 people were killed and 2 injured
Tumblr media
In the story of this terrorist attack, it is striking that explosives packed in sugar bags were discovered in advance. However, the district police officer who checked the premises of the furniture store didn't understand what he was facing.
Tumblr media
On September 13, at about 05:00, bomb activated, bringing down the entire single-entrance house. About 700 rescuers quickly began working at the scene of the tragedy, who dismantled the rubble manually in search of survivors.
Tumblr media
"I felt like I was flying for a long time, then I fell, and this fall woke me up. I was still flying and sleeping. Then I came to my senses. Dust, sand is flying. I sat on this pile of rubble for about seven minutes and wanted to hear at least someone shout. It's like in a war: silence, dust is falling, and no one even moves, it's quiet, there's no sound, no breathing. Dead silence." survivor of a terrorist attack.
Volgodonsk (Rostov region), September 16, 19 people were killed and 89 injured
Tumblr media
The terrorists left a KAMAZ truck with dangerous cargo at a carpool in the nearby village and on the same day agreed to buy a GAZ-53 truck from Abbaskuli Iskenderov, allegedly to deliver potatoes around the city. Then, at the request of the "buyers", Iskender parked GAZ-53 at a nine-story apartment building. At five in the morning there was a terrible explosion.
Tumblr media
The facade and stairwells of building were severely damaged, the floors partially collapsed — but the building stood due to a special earthquake-resistant structure. Nevertheless, an explosive wave of monstrous power within a radius of two blocks from the explosion hit 37 residential buildings, two schools, a kindergarten and a police building.

Beslan school siege (1-3 September 2004)
Tumblr media
333 people died (186 children), 783 were injured
On the morning of September 1, 2004, during the celebration of the beginning of the new school year, terrorists attacked School № 1 in the city of Beslan (North Ossetia). The terrorist attack in Beslan was the final in a series of terrorist attacks committed in Russia in 2004, after which the country's political leadership implemented a number of serious legislative reforms. Shamil Basayev claimed responsibility for organizing the attack, publishing a statement on the website of the Chechen separatists "Kavkaz-Center" on September 17, 2004.
Tumblr media
On September 1, 2004, a group of armed militants drove up to the school building. Shooting into the air, the terrorists drove all the children present, their parents and relatives, as well as school staff into the building.
Tumblr media
Most of the hostages were herded into the main gym. The militants took away their things, began to barricade the building and install improvised explosive devices. The terrorists studied the school's plan in advance.
Tumblr media
The authorities knew how many people were being held hostage. They began to pull special forces to the school, organized the operational headquarters of the counter-terrorism operation, and opened a criminal case. However, all official reports said that there were not as many hostages in the school as there actually were. Figures ranging from 120 to 354 people were mentioned. "If they think that there are 300 of you, then we will make sure that there are so many of you left here!" — one of the terrorists told the hostages.
Tumblr media
Two hours after the seizure of the school, the terrorists handed over a note from one of the hostages, in which they voiced their demands. The negotiators asked for water and medicines to be handed over to the hostages, offered to exchange children for adults — and also offered free way to terrorists in Chechnya and Ingushetia. All offers were rejected.
Tumblr media
At about 16:00, an explosion occurred at the school. One of the suicide bombers blew up next to the hostages who barricaded the building. Another militant was seriously wounded. Following this, the terrorists shot 21 hostages.
Tumblr media
Vladimir Putin addressed the nation only a day later, at 11:00 a.m. on September 2. The terrorists continued negotiations, but they did not lead to anything. Officially, the authorities claimed that the terrorists did not negotiate and did not demand anything. In fact, they handed over a videotape with Shamil Basayev's direct appeal to Putin through the hostages. The leader of the Chechen militants demanded the cessation of hostilities and the withdrawal of Russian army from Chechnya.
Tumblr media
On September 3, at 13:03 and at 13:05, two explosions occurred at the school, after which the assault began. Both military and unarmed civilians rushed to the school. At 13:19, the third explosion occurred. By this time, there was already an intense firefight at the school, and the hostages were randomly evacuated, or they tried to escape on their own. At 13:30, the roof collapsed in the gym.
Tumblr media
Only 116 dead bodies were found in the gym. According to a report by military expert Yuri Saveliev, most of the hostages died in the southern wing of the school, where they were taken by terrorists after the first explosions. This wing was without bombs. It was demolished immediately after the terrorist attack on the night of September 4.
Tumblr media
On September 6 and 7, mourning was declared in Russia. Spontaneous rallies have been going on in North Ossetia for almost two weeks demanding that the perpetrators of the terrorist attack be named and brought to justice. Rallies were held in other Russian cities as well. Most Russians were of the opinion that the hostage rescue operation had failed.
Tumblr media
On September 15, classes began in Beslan schools, but parents were afraid to let their children go to school. Classes began with a minute of silence, and since then every new academic year in North Ossetia begins with mourning events.
