Ilshat Kuzikov - "The cook" from St. Petersburg
Russian murderer and cannibal who killed for lack of food and medical care.
Ilshat was born on February 27, 1960 in Leninabad (Khujand), Tajikistan, later the family moved to Leningrad (Saint Petersburg). As a child, he was traumatized by one event – in 1971, when Ilshat was only 11 years old, he witnessed the murder of his mother by his own father.
Ilshat's father had alcohol addiction and he was a domestic tyrant. That day, he severely beat his wife, who later died of injuries. The murder of his mother (and his father himself) affected Ilshat's psychoemotional state, as a result of which he began to show signs of a mental disorder and was registered in a neuropsychiatric dispensary.
Kuzikov was provided with one-room apartment and began to pay a disability pension. Despite this, Ilshat was unable to lead a socially prosperous lifestyle. Starting in 1982, he became addicted to alcohol. In the mid-1980s, while undergoing another course of treatment, he met a female patient with whom he soon began a romantic relationship. A few months later, Kuzikov married her, but the marriage lasted only two years. During one of the fights with his wife, he attacked her, after which she filed for divorce and left Kuzikov.
After the collapse of the USSR, Kuzikov lost all his savings, and his social pension was completely devalued. Due to financial difficulties and rising prices, he began to starve. In order not to starve to death, Ilshat working part-time at the local market as a janitor. During this period, his mental state began to worsen. Kuzikov sought psychiatric help several times, but all his requests and complaints were ignored.
The first victim was Pechenkin – the maniac killed him with a wrench, then dragged the body into the bathroom and dismembered it there. The second victim was Bochkov – was first severely beaten, as drinking companions had a serious fight, and then killed. The third proven victim, Vasilevsky, was a fellow sufferer, they once lay together in a psychiatric hospital. All his victims were also his lovers.
Throughout his terrible "career", he periodically realized that what he was doing was not normal. He tried to get qualified psychiatric treatment. This information was confirmed at the investigation – Kuzikov not just tried to making himself look good.
He practically did not disguise himself in any way – he took out the remains in the trash, almost without covering or hiding them. Ilshat washed the apartment of blood only with cold water, since he has no money for cleaning products.
As a result of the investigation and trial, Ilshat Kuzikov was released from criminal liability due to insanity and sentenced to compulsory treatment in a psychiatric hospital.

"Blue Whale" - russian suicide game
(also known by "Quiet House", "Wake Me up at 4:20", "Sea of Whales", "Milky Way", "U19", "F57" and others)
A phenomenon from the Russian internet in 2015-2017. Nowadays it is considered an urban legend about groups in Vkontakte (Russian equivalent of Facebook) where you could take a challenge that end with your death.
The blue whale will save me He will lead me to #quiethouse #f57 gives us all no peace #f58 we know that help is coming #I'll cut one, two, three #bluewhale save me
-poem that teenagers posted on their pages
In order to start the "game", users post the hashtags (bluewhale, imingame, blue, quiethouse, etc.) on their pages, after which they are contacted by a "curator". The curator first explains the rules: "don't tell anyone about this game", "always complete tasks, whatever they may be", "if you failed, you are excluded from the game forever and bad consequences await you", then the curator begins to issue tasks. There are usually about 50 tasks: one per day. This may be an allusion to Stace Kramer's novel 50 Days Before My Suicide. The curators demanded a photo report from the victims. The pictures had to be sent at 4:20 a.m. In the final, the player was allegedly forced to commit suicide.
The tasks themselves often teetered on the verge of idiocy - the curators asked to draw a whale on a piece of paper, cut the symbols #f40 and #f57 with a blade on arm, go out to greet the dawn on the roof, prick with a needle in their body all day or listen to scary audios. In one of the variations of the "Blue Whale", the teenager was informed on the 22nd task of the date of their death, after which they had to humble and swear allegiance to the game, and then wake up at 4:20 for 20 days, watch psychedelic videos and leave cuts on the arm.
To intimidate the players, the curators threw the player a link with a sniffer, a program that allows you to find out the IP address and approximate area of residence of the user. Teens was horrified by sniffers, especially when trying to leave the game. Curators sent them their home address and promise to kill their relatives. Because of this, some children did not dare to stop playing, although there is no evidence that any of them eventually reached the 50th task and committed suicide.
VK blocked access to the groups the pages of their administrators and thematic hashtags. Many who decided to join the game complained about the lack of messages from the curators. But numerous opponents of the "Blue Whale", calling themselves "dolphins", knocked on them. Their communities and general behavior model are essentially copied from the public "Sea of Whales", the administrator of which Philip Chelov in May 2016 tried to confront Philip Fox and his death groups.
-------------------------------------
Trolls quickly found the suicidal game, including the inhabitants of the anonymous image board "Dvach" (Russian equivalent of 4chan). Trolls have been massively entering the game from fake pages and sending curators absurd questions or catching them on contradictions. For example, they claimed that the whale scratched on the arm with a blade would not be blue, but red, they offered to use drugs together at 4:20 or presented as officers. Some threw sniffer links to the curators, found out their home address and scared the FSB special forces who had already left for them.
Thanks to the trolls, internet community and teens themselves have finally realized the truth: there is no cult in Russia that purposefully drives teenagers to suicide. Moreover, all anonymous curators of death games are often the same teenagers as their potential victims.
-------------------------------------
Novaya Gazeta journalists claimed that between 2015 and early 2016, about 130 children died while participating in the game, but the sources of this information are unknown. Both the journalists of Novaya Gazeta, who spread information about the phenomenon the most, and the journalists of other publications in their articles never provided any objective data on the number of victims of the game. This number of victims is not confirmed by goverment either. The game's popularity peaked in February 2017, when more than 800 users posted the hashtag #bluewhale, waiting for instructions.
The popularity of the Blue Whale is also linked to the death of Renata Kambolina, better known as Rina Palenkova, a schoolgirl who took a selfie before throwing herself under a train in November 23, 2015.
The news of the death groups sent the parents into a panic. They massively disseminated information about the blue whale and asked other parents to be more attentive with their children.
The popularity of the blue whale has spread to other countries. Among them were the countries of Europe and Asia closest to Russia, as well as countries abroad.
-------------------------------------
Roskomnadzor promised to check all the materials set out in the Novaya Gazeta article. On May 20, the Main Directorate of the Investigative Committee decided to initiate a criminal case on the grounds of a crime provided for incitement to suicide.
On November 15, 2016, one of the defendants in the case, the administrator of a number of communities, Philip "Fox" Budeikin, was detained. He and a number of his accomplices are charged with driving at least 15 teenagers to suicide. On the eve of his arrest, Philip Budeikin gave an interview where he stated that he suffers from bipolar disorder. However, a forensic psychiatric examination found him sane. His goal was to purge society of bio trash. On July 17, 2017, court sentenced Philip for driving minors to suicide using social networks to imprisonment for a period of 3 years and 4 months in a penal colony.
-------------------------------------
Since June 7, 2017, Russia has had a law on criminal liability for the creation of death groups, providing for up to 6 years in prison. It is still not clear whether the blue whale had victims, because it is difficult to establish due to the panic that arose at the time, where any suicide was attributed to death groups. Even the famous Rina is not a victim of the instigation of the curator.

Explosions of residential buildings in Russia in September 1999
25 years ago, Russia was shaken by a series of terrorist attacks. Several apartment buildings were blown up with explosives planted in basements: in Buinaksk, two in Moscow and in Volgodonsk. As a result of the terrorist attacks, 307 people were killed, more than 1,700 people were injured of varying severity or suffered in one way or another. These crimes, sponsored by one of the main Chechen terrorists, Amir ibn al-Khattab, were supposed to be the revenge of Chechen militants for the failed invasion of Dagestan, but eventually served as arguments for the start of the second Chechen war.
Buinaksk (Dagestan), September 4, 64 people were killed and 146 injured
At the end of August, terrorists drove a KAMAZ truck from a Chechen village to the city. There were five tons of explosives in the back of the truck, disguised with bags of sugar. Knowing that due to the tense situation in the North Caucasus, locals would be on their guard, the terrorists began to prepare for crimes in advance. One of them pretended to be a watermelon merchant and took up a position in the courtyard of a five-story building, where most of the families of officers of the 136th Motorized Rifle brigade lived.
The attackers' plan worked: the residents of the house were used to seeing GAZ-52 with watermelons in their yard and on the evening of September 4 didn't pay attention to it. No one knew that there were 2.7 tons of explosives in the back of the car. That evening, many officers were delayed on duty because of an important meeting - and therefore there were mostly women and children in the apartments. When the clock showed 21:45, there was an explosion.
Two entrances of the building, each of which contained 15 apartments, turned into ruins. There was a huge hole in the middle of the house. The house was torn out in the middle, destroyed along the slabs.
Moscow, September 8, 106 people were killed and 690 injured
Most of the 14 tons of explosives for the crimes were manufactured at the mineral fertilizer plant in Urus-Martan, and then packaged in sugar bags. Under the guise of the CEO of the company, the leader of the attack rented a place for "sugar" in the warehouse. To lull the vigilance of the residents, a couple of days before the delivery of the deadly cargo from the warehouse, promoters hired by terrorists walked through the apartments of the house. They claimed that the sugar trade was about to begin on the ground floor of the house.
On September 8 at 23:59 an explosion broke out. It simultaneously brought down two central entrances of building, visually dividing the house into two parts. This crime came as a surprise not only to people, but also to the special services. No one expected that residential buildings would become the target of terrorists.
The explosion sowed panic among Moscow citizens: people were afraid to spend the night in their apartments, so sometimes they even bought tents and sleep in parks.
Moscow, September 13, 124 people were killed and 2 injured
In the story of this terrorist attack, it is striking that explosives packed in sugar bags were discovered in advance. However, the district police officer who checked the premises of the furniture store didn't understand what he was facing.
On September 13, at about 05:00, bomb activated, bringing down the entire single-entrance house. About 700 rescuers quickly began working at the scene of the tragedy, who dismantled the rubble manually in search of survivors.
"I felt like I was flying for a long time, then I fell, and this fall woke me up. I was still flying and sleeping. Then I came to my senses. Dust, sand is flying. I sat on this pile of rubble for about seven minutes and wanted to hear at least someone shout. It's like in a war: silence, dust is falling, and no one even moves, it's quiet, there's no sound, no breathing. Dead silence." survivor of a terrorist attack.
Volgodonsk (Rostov region), September 16, 19 people were killed and 89 injured
The terrorists left a KAMAZ truck with dangerous cargo at a carpool in the nearby village and on the same day agreed to buy a GAZ-53 truck from Abbaskuli Iskenderov, allegedly to deliver potatoes around the city. Then, at the request of the "buyers", Iskender parked GAZ-53 at a nine-story apartment building. At five in the morning there was a terrible explosion.
The facade and stairwells of building were severely damaged, the floors partially collapsed — but the building stood due to a special earthquake-resistant structure. Nevertheless, an explosive wave of monstrous power within a radius of two blocks from the explosion hit 37 residential buildings, two schools, a kindergarten and a police building.

Beslan school siege (1-3 September 2004)
333 people died (186 children), 783 were injured
On the morning of September 1, 2004, during the celebration of the beginning of the new school year, terrorists attacked School № 1 in the city of Beslan (North Ossetia). The terrorist attack in Beslan was the final in a series of terrorist attacks committed in Russia in 2004, after which the country's political leadership implemented a number of serious legislative reforms. Shamil Basayev claimed responsibility for organizing the attack, publishing a statement on the website of the Chechen separatists "Kavkaz-Center" on September 17, 2004.
On September 1, 2004, a group of armed militants drove up to the school building. Shooting into the air, the terrorists drove all the children present, their parents and relatives, as well as school staff into the building.
Most of the hostages were herded into the main gym. The militants took away their things, began to barricade the building and install improvised explosive devices. The terrorists studied the school's plan in advance.
The authorities knew how many people were being held hostage. They began to pull special forces to the school, organized the operational headquarters of the counter-terrorism operation, and opened a criminal case. However, all official reports said that there were not as many hostages in the school as there actually were. Figures ranging from 120 to 354 people were mentioned. "If they think that there are 300 of you, then we will make sure that there are so many of you left here!" — one of the terrorists told the hostages.
Two hours after the seizure of the school, the terrorists handed over a note from one of the hostages, in which they voiced their demands. The negotiators asked for water and medicines to be handed over to the hostages, offered to exchange children for adults — and also offered free way to terrorists in Chechnya and Ingushetia. All offers were rejected.
At about 16:00, an explosion occurred at the school. One of the suicide bombers blew up next to the hostages who barricaded the building. Another militant was seriously wounded. Following this, the terrorists shot 21 hostages.
Vladimir Putin addressed the nation only a day later, at 11:00 a.m. on September 2. The terrorists continued negotiations, but they did not lead to anything. Officially, the authorities claimed that the terrorists did not negotiate and did not demand anything. In fact, they handed over a videotape with Shamil Basayev's direct appeal to Putin through the hostages. The leader of the Chechen militants demanded the cessation of hostilities and the withdrawal of Russian army from Chechnya.
On September 3, at 13:03 and at 13:05, two explosions occurred at the school, after which the assault began. Both military and unarmed civilians rushed to the school. At 13:19, the third explosion occurred. By this time, there was already an intense firefight at the school, and the hostages were randomly evacuated, or they tried to escape on their own. At 13:30, the roof collapsed in the gym.
Only 116 dead bodies were found in the gym. According to a report by military expert Yuri Saveliev, most of the hostages died in the southern wing of the school, where they were taken by terrorists after the first explosions. This wing was without bombs. It was demolished immediately after the terrorist attack on the night of September 4.
On September 6 and 7, mourning was declared in Russia. Spontaneous rallies have been going on in North Ossetia for almost two weeks demanding that the perpetrators of the terrorist attack be named and brought to justice. Rallies were held in other Russian cities as well. Most Russians were of the opinion that the hostage rescue operation had failed.
On September 15, classes began in Beslan schools, but parents were afraid to let their children go to school. Classes began with a minute of silence, and since then every new academic year in North Ossetia begins with mourning events.
