Enby wylan is so special to me ahhh 🥰🥰 it’s much what it says on the tin tbh, although I think it’d be a really good fic for a Big Bang if any happen this year!!

Sometimes he stands while he works in his study, pacing back and forth as he thinks. He drafts letter after letter in his head and commits it to memory for Jesper to write up later. Sometimes, he catches sight of the mirror framed above the mantelpiece. It’s a new fad, apparently, but Kaz has an annoying habit of stealing Wylan’s paintings, and Wylan wanted to make a point. It’s just more practical for it to be a mirror.

It’s an early summer morning. The windows are open, just enough for the breeze to brush against his face and ruffle his hair. Wylan blinks, caught off guard by his own reflection for reasons he just can’t place. By the knowledge that that is him. That he has a body, and so a reflection. It stops him still, and the line of words die in his head, and he thinks, that is what the world sees when it looks at you.

He adjusts the set of his rolled sleeves on his forearms and looks away, suddenly self-conscious.

Seven (or more) Sentence Sunday

Have a (much longer than seven sentences) sneak peak from the upcoming chapter of my SOC WIP "To Build a Legend," which I'm finally getting around to editing after two months of life repeatedly getting in the way:

Put herself in danger to save a rival gang member, or ignore the fight below her?  Kaz wouldn’t think twice. He’d leave the boy to rot. But Inej was not Dirtyhands. She was the Wraith. And the Wraith could not bear to watch as a boy years younger than she had been when she first arrived in Ketterdam stared death in the face. If he had a safe place to flee and a family to go home to, he’d be tucked safely in bed instead of fighting for his life. Or maybe he’d be here anyway, running with the gangs just for the thrill of it. Did it matter? How was it just to kill a man who wasn’t trying to kill her? How could it be just to leave a child to die? She would kill a man. She would save a child. Ketterdam will not kill my soul, Inej thought. The Wraith dropped from the sky, and the man dropped to the ground.

🦷- uhhhhhhh. microwave frozen pierogies in water for about 3 minutes. warm up olive oil or butter on a skillet. put the pierogies (sans water) in the skillet and get a nice golden crisp on the outside. put em in a bowl and drown in shredded cheese, a bit of sour cream, and if you're feeling fancy, bacon bits and/or chopped chives. youre welcome. i couldnt think of anything else to put here.

❄️- ohh this is a hard question lmfao. uhhhhh ive been really into this weird odyssey au in my head (inej as odysseus ofc and kaz as penelope) and like. idk if ill ever actually write it but god if someone who's exceptionally good at molding aus with soc in long form fics picked it up, like pyrrhlc??? god. though there are So Many good authors in this fandom tbh, pyrrhlc just came up in my brain first

What do you think of demisexual jesper?:)

I think that, even if he didn't label himself as demisexual, he wouldn't have the relationship with sex and dating that the series and part of the fandom peg him to have. This is just my personal opinion and interpretation, but I believe Jesper to be the goofy boy who flirts all the time but is inherently a romantic at heart. he cares about his first kiss but mostly about his first time: I think he would fuck up (because when doesn't he?) and perhaps drunk-kiss people, and then being the massive people pleaser that he is he would just go with the flow of the rumors about him.

I personally don't give much weight to labels, I just wholeheartedly think that Jesper is not a slut, that he is loyal, a romantic, that he doesn't want to have sex with whoever he meets and that, on the contrary, he just wants to have sex with the person he loves. the vision of jesper that I see around feeds into harmful-ish bisexual stereotypes in my opinion, and it shocks me because I didn't read him like that: I read him like those 17 years old boys I knew from high school that would joke about sex all the time, say they went on countless dates and that they had the biggest dicks, and they were just... virgin boys who joke-flirted and joke talked about sex. that's closer to jesper in my vision than accomplished town slut who, at 17, fucked the whole of ketterdam into submission (and yes, matthias was obviously not serious there, he was just stressing how flirty Nina and jesper are, not claiming their body count // since we also know that Nina, although working in a pleasure house, surely doesn't sell her body).

so yeah I do love demisexual jesper, I think jesper would fit into the demisexual community rather than the whore community (again, I know it's a different world and age but! he is 17!). from how I read it: yes, there's a couple hinted rumors about slut jesper (mostly from kaz's perspective), but they could just be rumors, especially because most of the time... yes, he flirts. but he flirts like a loser! and he had a waffle date with a girl he even forgot to cancel. and he kissed wylan before certain death only for the kiss to be tasteless and meaningless and to find out that that was not wylan. and he had a crush-idealization on his best friend / boss (and who doesn't have crush-idealizations at 15? I did! most (queer) people I know did, mostly on close friends they admired and felt safe with). yes, there's these things in the books but... the way he interacts with wylan, talks about the kiss(es) with wylan... that's very demisexual to me! and even if it wasn't, that's very far away from the town slut idea of him that runs around lately. that's a very human thing (to want to have sex with someone you trust and love, and not casually): he could be a boy who loves sex and has a good relationship with sex, because that's also very much part of the human experience but 1. if he had sex around it wouldn't be healthy, it would be self-destructive because jesper in the Barrel is self-destructive but 2. he doesn't talk and think like a person who even had sex once, let alone countless times, so I genuinely don't understand where slut jesper comes from

also, if you want to deepen the demisexual jesper thing, there's a fic by Randomcat1832 that is all based on jesper's relationship with sex (ace / demi jesper) [I still have to read it but it's been recommended to me as a very good fic] and a couple other fics by nura (@americanbeautiies) that mention / hint demi jesper (here and here) and that I really enjoyed!

Last song I listened to: Lifeline by The Rose (I have been listening to so many of their songs after the concert, this was one that I didn't know beforehand but I instantly clicked with it and it was honestly a bit magical to hear it for the first time live and feel like it just shot into my bloodstream)

Currently reading: System Collapse by Martha Wells (I started reading the Murderbot Diaries series in January and I'm now on the latest published book. This series has been so much freaking fun and I love Murderbot a whole lot, again shout out for my friend @swissfuckingcheesegdi to introduce me to it. I recommend this whole series so much!)

Last watched: Hellavu Boss (it's such a fun show and free on YouTube, so I recommend everyone go watch!)

Currently obsessed: I (re)discovered Hazbin Hotel as it was now out as a full first season and I have already watched it twice through. I love the characters so freaking much and I'm so curious to learn more. Naturally, loving this show made me search up Hellavu Boss, which I wasn't sure that I would like as much but I like it so much! Both are so fun. (And I may be writing fic for Hazbin already).

this is much more up my alley 😂 i tried very hard to pick a mix of horny and non-horny fics, be proud of me

(T) can you fill the silence (annesbonny): pre, mid and post canon; super interesting take on wylan being selectively mute in the aftermath of trauma; excellent idea and very well written

(T) marketable skills (randomcat1832): canon compliant set on the Ferolind the first time; PERFECT amount of bickering, absolutely feels like it could be slotted right into the book itself

(T) it was the eyes (pigeontoad): modern cafe au; really good jesper POV. i also really really enjoy this author's other wesper works!

(M) delay (boxoftheskyking): post canon; really cinched the "boys that can't talk about their feelings" vibe

(M) writing in the dark (tommylane): post-canon fluff although i'm just a bit of a sucker for love confession fics

(E) my heart doesn't slow down, when you kill the lights (anonymouspoet): florist x tattoo artist au; phenomenally written all the way through especially wrt wylan's insecurities, but the sex scene at the end is just! *chefs kiss*
