What type of horses do you think Griffiths apostles would be?
What type of horses I think griffiths apostles would be?
God, I'm so ready for this. You have no idea
Tumblr media
Zodd- Belgian Ardennes horse
Absolute UNITS.
Enormous draft horses built for pulling trees and logging. Not the tallest of the drafts but incredibly powerful, and otherwise pretty chilled out horses, of course you decide to piss it off, and there's no outrunning that thing.
Very zodd shaped animal
Tumblr media
Grunbeld - Shire horse.
I chose a shire purely because of their height, if I'm honest,it's one of their most prominent features and the same goes with grunbeld, they're HUGE.
Tumblr media
Locus- friesian.
Practically the same picture.
Look at the man, look at the horse. There's no difference. No, nothing.
Locus as anything but a black coated friesian is immediately wrong.
Tumblr media
Irvine- hanoverian horse
Primarily chosen for their altheticism and being a horse used in show hunting. What Is Irvine? A hunter, of course.
Tumblr media
Rakshas- Selle Francais
I chose the Selle because of their athletic abilities, agility, and natural compliance.
There we go! Was a pretty easy post since I love the apostles in berserk. I already had them picked out

Berserk AU: Apostle Judeau (pt. 3)
Tumblr media
And here is the third part of these AU details! I'm really quite proud of how this one came out. Character interaction and relationship details are so hard to figure out.
As always -- this AU is a joint-effort between myself and @saturnsedan so I highly recommend supporting them too!
>Judeau spends the next three years of his life in the Astral Realm... choosing to stay by Griffith's side until he can be reborn in a new physical body.
>While in the Astral Realm, Judeau trains to harness his demon powers and "released" form. It takes (almost) all three years to develop his abilities in full.
>When the pair finally leave the Interstice and enter the Physical Realm again... Judeau continues to follow Griffith around as he begins to form a new group-- the Band of the Falcon. This group is made up of various Apostles and humans. As a result, Judeau has different connections and relationships to the other members...
Tumblr media
>Zodd: Despite having once been in fear of Nosferatu Zodd when he was a human, Judeau (now) sees him as one of his closest companions beyond Griffith. They see each other as rivals and will often argue on who exactly was the first one to serve under Griffith after he was reborn. Judeau argues that he had been by Griffith's side since before he regained his physical body. Meanwhile Zodd argues that he had always been loyal to the members of the God Hand (and by extension-- Griffith) since before Judeau became an Apostle. But even in spite of that, they see each other as allies in their joint goal to keep Griffith safe. Judeau and Zodd will often train with each other and encourage each other to get stronger.
Tumblr media
>Locus: Much like Zodd, Judeau has a rivalry with Locus... but unlike the other Apostle... Judeau doesn't have a good nor friendly relationship with Locus. He doesn't like him, not in the least bit. It would be accurate to say that Judeau is quite jealous of Locus. He doesn't like "sharing" Griffith with Locus-- as the other Apostle seems to believe that he can be a better knight to Griffith. The two Apostles are often getting into fights (both physical and verbal) and they will often claim that their loyalty to Griffith is far and beyond what the other Apostle can provide. Much in the same manner that Locus is seen as the "Moonlight Knight" by others... Judeau is seen as the "Sunlight Knight" thanks to the sun markings on his fur coat.
Tumblr media
>Grunbeld: Another member of the group that Judeau highly respects-- in light of the fact that (from Judeau's own personal opinion) Grunbeld had held onto some traces of his original humanity despite becoming an Apostle. Judeau was always quick to question his own loss of humanity and whether or not, he was truly a monster among humans. But upon seeing that Grunbeld has a warrior code and some form of "ethics" when it comes to the people he battles, Judeau feels a sense of relief. Maybe its possible that he also carries a tiny fraction of humanity left, despite his physical appearance. While Judeau wouldn't go as far as saying that Grunbeld is his friend, he does see him as a fellow comrade in arms.
Tumblr media
>Rakshas: It wouldn't be too extreme to say that Judeau sees Rakshas as an "enigma" among the group. He has no idea what is going on in that guy's head, but Judeau abhors Raksha's tendency to play and tease his victims before killing them. He also fears that Rakshas will stay true to his statement about "taking Griffith's head" when everything is all said and done. With that in mind, Judeau has come to the conclusion that he may, one day, have to fight Rakshas to protect Griffith. And upon seeing Raksha's full range of abilities... a part of him outright fears when that day eventually comes...
Tumblr media
>Irvine: Due to having a similar fighting style in the format of "ranged combat," Judeau likens his fighting ability and powers to being on the same level as Irvine. Since Irvine is so quiet and rarely interacts with the rest of the group, Judeau has attempted to reach out to him. He doesn't want anyone in the group to feel like an outcast, so he has tried to connect to Irvine by way of entertaining him with their similar interests. For the longest time, Irvine ignored these attempts. But when Irvine realized that Judeau had a way with the lute, he begun to open up to the idea of interacting with Judeau. Irvine can see that Judeau has a soft spot to his personality that many of the other Apostles don't have. So he feels some sense of companionship with him thanks to their similarities and differences-- with Judeau being extroverted and Irvine being introverted.
Tumblr media
>Sonia: When it comes to Sonia, Judeau can't help being reminded of Casca during her early days in the original Band of the Hawk. She is innocent-- almost too innocent for the battlefield. The fact that she (also) has seen Judeau in his "released" form and was not scared of him in the slightest... really affected Judeau on a deep, emotional level. Sonia has often tried to ease his nerves about his own personal identity, stating that he only gave up his humanity for the sake of Griffith-- which means that Judeau is the furthest thing from an actual monster. Due in part to his memories and the similarities that Sonia has to Casca-- Judeau has found himself beginning to develop feelings for her. But its important to note that they are strictly meant to be familial in nature as Judeau only views her as a "little sister" but even then, he thinks of her as a close companion. With that in mind, Judeau has accepted the fact that if Sonia were ever put into a situation where her life was in danger, he would protect her in a heartbeat.

Berserk-inspired Designs in Dark Souls
It’s not a secret that Hidetaka Miyazaki is a fan of Berserk and that the Soulsborne games are influenced by it. Here are some Dark Souls 1 designs that are known to be and some that I think could be inspired by Berserk.
Artorias the Abysswalker and Guts
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Artorias wears a similar armor as Guts’ Berserker Armor. Also, Guts lost his left arm and uses a prosthesis instead. Artorias still has his left arm, but it is broken. Therefore, he cannot use it in the fight.
In this regard, I think Artorias’ Wolf, Sif, could also be a reference to the Beast of Darkness, since it is also a dog/wolf-like creature.
Darkwraith and Skull Knight
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gravelord Nito and Skull Knight
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The influence of the Skull Knight on the Darkwraith’s design is quite obvious. However, I think he may also have inspired the design of Nito, even though “skeleton with sword” isn’t that specific.
Moonlight Butterfly and Rosine
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rosine could have inspired the design of the Moonlight Butterfly. They have similar color schemes, and both characters seem to be based on the Luna moth.
Taurus Demon and Zodd
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both are tall, horned monsters with brown fur and have a similar shape overall.
One detail I want to mention is that Zodd’s design is based on a big cat, but he has bovine-like hooves on his feet. The Taurus Demon is supposed to be a bull, according to the name, but he has paws instead of hooves. The paws aren’t cat-like, though.
Four Kings and Ganishka (released)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This one is more speculative. Unlike the Four Kings, Ganishka doesn’t have a solid body in his released form. I still think the color scheme and the overall irregular shape look somewhat similar.
Pinwheel and Rakshas
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mysterious cloaked figures with masks.
Serpent Mage and Snake Lord
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Snake people aren’t that specific design-wise, but both are cobras, so there could be a connection.
Dragon Slayer Ornstein and Griffith
Tumblr media Tumblr media
How is Ornstein based on Griffith? You may ask. The only similarity is that both characters wear animal-themed armor. Well, Ornstein’s data names in Dark Souls are “Griffith” and “Griffith_large” for his second form. So, he is meant to be the Griffith of DS.
Ornstein might be rather based on the name “Griffith” than his looks. The most common form of a griffin is a mixture between a bird of prey and a lion. These two characters represent these animals. Griffith stands for the bird of prey (falcon), and Ornstein is the lion.
Red Eye Orb and Beherit
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Red Eye Orb lost some facial features compared to the Beherit, but this one is still self-explanatory.

There you are at last…
How are we feeling about the new chapter of Berserk? What does Rakshas want by going after Guts? At least we’ll have an answer in two weeks.
