Tubérculos De Montgomery: ¿Qué Son Y Para Qué Sirven? Tal vez ni siquiera te habías preguntado si tenían alguna función, solo están ahí, siempre han estado ahí, son parte del pecho��� ¡Pero no! Los tubérculos de Montgomery o glándulas areolares tienen una importante función, ignorada por muchos, saboteada por tantos otros. Conozcámoslos... Estos pequeños bultitos (los cuales dependiendo de cada mujer pueden ser muchos o algunos pocos) son glándulas sebáceas que se sitúan en la areola del pecho, rodeando al pezón y se encargan de mantener lubricada e hidratada la areola y el pezón, brindándoles protección contra bacterias que pudieran atacar esta zona. Durante el embarazo y la lactancia estas glándulas se hacen más visibles y es debido a su importante función en esta etapa, ya que secretan un olor y sabor especiales, que sirven como estímulo olfativo y gustativo para el apetito y orientación del recién nacido. Para no alterar la función de los tubérculos se recomienda asear los pechos solo con agua en la ducha, no con jabón ni otras lociones.
