Humor is a coping mechanism for horror and pain, I would not shame anyone indulging in it. However, inspired by Brad Onishi of Straight White American Jesus, I would ask that people chuckling at Trump ranting about Haitians eating pets be mindful of the deep history of dehumanizing people who some would like to rationalize behavior towards that would be immoral and savage if it was directed against a “real” person. It’s not just a stupid thing the right has fallen for because of bad media literacy, it’s a belief they are actively choosing against all evidence to the contrary because they want an ex post facto reason to justify treating “dog eaters” like they are lower and less deserving of dignity and safety than a stray dog.

Jewish Columbia students were chased out of dorms, spat on, and pinned against walls: damning report
By Matthew Sedacca
Published Aug. 31, 2024, 3:44 p.m. ET
Jewish students at Columbia University were chased out of their dorms, received death threats, spat upon, stalked and pinned against walls, as the Ivy League school devolved into a cesspool of antisemitic hate in the wake of Hamas’ Oct. 7 murderous raid on Israel.
The new and disturbing details emerged from the lengthy, 91-page document released Friday by the school’s faculty-led antisemitism task force, which revealed the extent to which the hate permeated the institution.
“Students described being shoved, pushed to the ground, berated for showing support for Zionist causes, and watching Israeli flags burned,” the task force’s authors wrote.
Jewish and Israeli students at Columbia University endured a months-long nightmare of harassment, violent threats and assaults after Oct. 7.

“They recounted seeing drawings of swastikas in their dorms, students yelling pro-Hamas chants, and being denied access to public spaces and opportunities simply because they were Jewish or Israeli.”
Testimony from nearly five hundred Columbia students informed the report, which found visibly observant Jews had been pinned to the wall and had their jewelry ripped off while coming and going from synagogue. Others recounted being spat on and having been called ethnic slurs on campus.
One student, who had installed a mezuzah on her dorm’s doorway prior to the Israel-Hamas war, was forced to move out after people were pounding her door throughout the night beginning in October, demanding she explain the Jewish state’s war in Gaza.
“If I walk on campus right now with my star out or kippah or say ‘am Yisrael chai,’ I could start World War III,” one anonymous student’s testimony read.
Instructors tasked with guiding and mentoring students instead contributed to the sense of isolation and unease among Jews and Israelis on campus, according to the report.
Students recalled being pushed to the ground and watching Israeli flags being burned.
One faculty member leading a class that delved into the Israel-Hamas conflict called a student who previously served in the IDF a murderer. Another professor extensively said a pair of Jewish donors to the university had “laundered” “dirty money” and “blood money.”
During the spring, as protests and encampments roiled the school’s Morningside Heights campus, protesters, including outsiders and members of the university community, bellowed death threats at Jewish students. Demonstrators who held Israeli flags, meanwhile, recalled being assaulted.
“There is a sense of personal threat, and we keep looking over our shoulders,” master’s student Omer Lubaton Granot, an Israeli veteran and father of a toddler, told an Israeli radio station in the wake of protesters seizing the academic building Hamilton Hall in April.
Councilman Eric Dinowitz (D-Bronx) described the students’ testimonies as “horrifying — and not surprising.”
“These are stories we’ve been hearing about, as the report says, even before the encampments,” he told The Post, adding that antisemitism had been on the rise at college campuses even before Oct. 7
“Without any sort of consequence [for students and faculty] this sort of behavior will continue
The task force offered several recommendations to address the issues detailed in the voluminous report, including improved anti-bias training for students and staff along with a new system for reporting complaints about antisemitism.
The report was issued just days before Columbia’s fall semester begins and less then three weeks after embattled university president Minouhce Shafik suddenly resigned, citing the “period of turmoil” that marred her brief tenure at the school.
Interim President Katrina Armstrong called the disturbing incidents “completely unacceptable” before rattling off new initiatives at the university aligning with the panel’s recommendations.
“This is an opportunity to acknowledge the harm that has been done and to pledge to make the changes necessary to do better and to rededicate ourselves, as university leaders, as individuals, and as a community, to our core mission of teaching and research,” she said

There’s a troubling train of thought I see some places online- some people think Kanye is being cancelled because he pissed off the “wrong people” (Jews.) That kind of thinking, though often unintentional, still furthers the antisemitic lie that the Jews are the ones “in charge” in some way. In reality, brands are dropping Kanye for a combination of the white lives matter shirt ordeal, his antisemitic comments, and his lies about George Floyd. He is being cancelled for *both* his antisemitism and antiblackness

Something that really gives Doctor Who some cognitive dissonance is that it champions science, but it also, of course, loves to make sci-fi stories out of ideas in popular culture. Like conspiracy theories, cryptids, all the stuff you'd see on the X-Files. Lots of stuff that in our world goes against science, and is even dangerous or bigoted.
So the Doctor will be like "science leads," but also all of human history has been masterminded by extraterrestrials, psychic powers are real, magic is real, there's a species of lizard men who rode dinosaurs and now sleep beneath the earth, the loch ness monster is from outer space, every tenth planet ever invented is out there somewhere, aliens built the pyramids and Atlanteans built the sphinx.

“The former president’s association with the bigoted activist and conspiracy theorist should earn him the same condemnation he received over his dinner with white nationalist Nick Fuentes and Ye.
Sept. 11, 2024, 5:17 PM EDT
By Ja'han Jones
When conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer was spotted exiting Donald Trump’s plane in Philadelphia ahead of Tuesday’s debate, it might have been a tell that Trump’s performance would be just as fact-free and fascist-friendly as Loomer’s putrid podcast.
I certainly wondered whether Trump had brought her along for inspo. Loomer, who has said she’s “pro-white nationalism” and a “proud Islamophobe,” has received public praise from Trump multiple times over the past year, despite some conservatives’ concerns that she could become a liability for his campaign.
Lately, she has used her platform to lob overtly racist and sexist attacks at Kamala Harris, the same kind of schlock Trump shares on social media. In one such example from last week, Loomer described Harris, New York Attorney General Letitia James and Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis as “meritless DEI Shaniquas.”
It’s also noteworthy that, despite losing the only election she has ever run in, she has publicly criticized Trump’s campaign operations, so Team Trump might be placating her — or simply blunting her online kvetching — by keeping her in the fold. In fact, Loomer traveled with Trump’s entourage to a 9/11 memorial ceremony Wednesday, which is particularly awkward given that Loomer has claimed that the 2001 terrorist attacks were an inside job.
Thus far, I find it remarkable that Loomer hasn’t become the liability that some of Trump’s own supporters predicted. After all, the former president hosted a dinner with white nationalist Nick Fuentes and rapper Ye, and his campaign has still — justifiably — had to answer for it this year.
But Trump has been spared similar condemnation over his association with Loomer, who is just as toxic as Fuentes or Ye but appears more embedded in the Trump campaign than either of them.”

People are saying that Weird Donald spends more time with racist conspiracy nut Laura Loomer than he does with Melania.
During an MSNBC panel discussion on Donald Trump allowing himself to be influenced by far-right characters, which had a marked influence on his Tuesday night debate performance, contributor Ed Luce suggested the former president has quickly become his own worse enemy. [ ... ] Noting that the former president recently added far-right conspiracist Laura Loomer to his travel entourage, Luce explained "This is the kind of person Donald Trump is hanging out with." He's hanging out with people who tell him, 'Yes, what you said about crowd sizes is true. Yes, what you said about you having the greatest economy in world history is true. What we've been hearing about people hanging other people's pet dogs or abducting their cats, that's true.'"
Laura Loomer is an extremist's extremist. Even Marjorie Taylor Greene thinks Loomer is too extreme.
'Growing feud' between Marjorie Taylor Greene and far-right activist traveling with Trump
Loomer even attended the official 9/11 memorial commemoration with Trump on Wednesday.
youtube
Laura Loomer is a sociopathic slimeball who never lets objective reality cloud her worldview. She's the perfect travel companion and policy adviser for Donald Trump.

something i’ve been thinking about is the intersection of racism & fascism with conspiracy theories/pseudoscience and the supernatural in disco elysium. it’s a well-documented phenomenon irl and i think the game is very good at easing you into the “levels” of how these things are inherently related.
on the surface you have the racist lorry driver, who literally has “racist” in his epithet and is the most out-and-proud racist-fascist you could possibly meet, and measurehead, another open racist and fascist whose nickname is given to him by his belief in phrenology. here we see these people as pretty much cartoonishly racist and very vocal about *why* they believe these things: it all comes down to pseudoscience. these are people who have been convinced that racism is just a fact, justified by science that others are just too “soft” to recognize. we all know about measurehead and his phrenology and such but the RLD also espouses pseudoscience to justify his racism:
Tumblr media
and, in addition to this “supporting” his racist beliefs, on top of this he believes in conspiracy theories like an immigrant *Invasion* and an anti-Occidental (anti-white) “cultural victory”, which sounds suspiciously like real-life “white eradication” conspiracy theories:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
okay, this is some obviously deeply racist and fascist shit. but it’s not just this. measurehead goes beyond this and believes in other conspiracy theories unrelated to race supremacy, like his thing with semen retention, which is also a real-life conspiracy thing:
Tumblr media
i’ll tie this all up at the end, so let’s move on to the next layer. gary is explicitly identified as a cryptofascist by his epithet. a cryptofascist, for those unfamiliar, is someone whose beliefs and ideals align with fascism but who doesn’t openly identify as such because they’re aware of the social unacceptability of it. if you play the fascist route, you’ll have to play as a cryptofascist in order to maintain positive relationships with NPCs and not take constant morale damage from saying fascist things. gary also says blatantly racist things, and here’s where it gets a little deeper than RLD and measurehead: the very basics of what he says are factually true-- that seol exports microtechnology, for example, which ties them to a lot of global governments-- but these actual facts have been spun by fear and *conspiracy theory* into a load of racist bullshit:
Tumblr media
and you can actually see in that half light line at the bottom how the fear leverages belief in this stuff! you can argue against gary this whole time and still, an appeal to *fear* can start to slip in through the cracks. gary opens with facts and logic, devolves into fear and conspiracy spinning, and we get another layer of how racist rhetoric and belief spreads. then, to add another layer to the fear angle, you have plaisance. it’s not fear of immigrants with her, though. she’s afraid of this curse-- the supernatural-- that she thinks will be responsible for ending her business, and in her fear she turned to racist caricature and stereotypes:
Tumblr media
it’s not the same as the direct “you’re seolite, fuck you” that RLD directs at kim or the “non-occidentals are inferior” he and measurehead parrot or “immigrants are trying to take over the world” that they and gary all buy into. it’s a far more insidious thing: this is something she takes as fact, so deeply that she doesn’t even *question* it. these nonwhite people are special mystical people with magic and that’s just how it is! while it’s not quite conspiracy theory, it’s supernatural, which functions the same as conspiracy when you talk about how racism is rooted in some fundamental disconnect from reality. and this brings us to our final subject, lena. lena comes in from the same angle, a belief in the supernatural (cryptozoology) that ultimately results in racism. (the juxtaposition of cryptozoology/cryptofascism with morell and gary was not an accident!) she seems like a regular sweet old lady who likes cryptids, until you’re randomly slapped across the face with this:
Tumblr media
she believes that seolites are a different *species*, and that’s just a fact to her. you point out the racism and she just doubles down-- no, she’s not trying to be offensive, it can be a good thing actually! that’s just nature, just like the cryptids she loves! it’s just fact! and we see this echoed by plaisance and even gary, where they’ll say something deeply racist and follow it up with “but [x group] is very intelligent/crafty/etc as well!” as though saying this somehow cancels out the racism (when in actuality, these “good traits” are part of what they use to fearmonger about these “other” groups they’re so afraid of).
in general this group of characters serves really well to demonstrate how people who are out of touch with reality in other ways (conspiracy, magic, the supernatural, and some extreme forms of spiritualism) are frequently deeply racist as well, and some of them aren’t even aware or doing it intentionally. it really just comes with the territory, and some people choose to lean into it while others aren’t even aware of it, which is why the process of recognition and unlearning is so important when considering the latter population.

this may be a misworded take but: watching (white) conservatives cover the current israel/palestine conflict happening and act as though they’ve always cared about jewish people antisemitism yadda yadda is so fucking (un)funny like. no. no. no. you don’t care about any of that shit. you don’t give the slightest fuck about jewish people, you’re only pretending to care about them because right now the people in israel are currently bombing and genociding the one group of people you hate more

reminder: it actually does not matter if you have a friend whos a poc who tells you that "race transitioning" is fine. it doesnt matter if youre a poc yourself and you think its fine. guess what? people can be wrong!
even outside of this, people can be wrong.
if a scientist with a phd tells you the earth is flat, do you just immediately believe that with no question? you may think "someone with a phd would never believe that", but there are several scientists who do! there are modern scientists with phds and careers who believe in shit like phrenology or ancient astronaut theory or other bullshit like that.
there are poc who are nazis, who believe in white supremacy and believe that poc are inferior or subhuman. if a poc like myself tells you that all poc are inferior to white people, do you just automatically believe that? there are very famous poc who hold these ideals, such as kanye west.
you are seeking out specific people in your community who agree with all of your ideals. you are finding one or two or ten or however many people who agree with you and ignoring the tens of thousands of people who dont agree. you are doing exactly what conspiracy theorists and racists do: finding one professional or seemingly trustworthy source and basing your entire logic around that one source.
racists will find one scientist who believes in phrenology and use that one scientist to say "look! a real scientist with a phd agrees with me! you shouldnt listen to the wider scientific community, theyre all biased and wrong and this guy is the only one whos correct!"
radqueers will find one poc who supports "race transitioning" and use that one person to say "look! a real poc agrees with me! you shouldnt listen to the wider poc community, theyre all biased and wrong and this guy is the only one whos correct!"
do you understand what im saying here? you cant pick and choose who to believe based on whether or not you agree with them. listen to as many poc as you can, outside of radqueer communities. listen to ones who dont even know what radqueer means. the vast majority of poc say that "transitioning races" is inherently racist (and impossible, considering you cant just transition to have been born somewhere else or have different biological ancestors, which is what determines race because race and ethnicity are inherited unlike gender), dont just choose 20 poc who say its good and ignore the 20000 who say it isnt.

Can't believe I got to witness another set of Graham Hancock's victims with my one two eyes. Peace to you, brother. You didn't deserve any of this. .

Graham Hancock is so fucking lucky he hasn't been in the same vicinity as me otherwise I'd be blogging from a jail cell right now.
