I'd personally rather there be no created racial tension by anyone, no race specified. When we think of other races we think of ways on how not to offend them, and so we turn into a different person. This is coming from someone who's often mistaken for a racist person because of the area they live in (southwest Louisiana). To claim racism on a person or what they stand for, we must first understand the meaning of the word racism. Racism in itself has two meanings. The first meaning you might be familiar with, •Prejudice, discrimination or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that ones race is superior to another. This means several things and is often misunderstood. We all have a specific mindset projected by the media that ALL racism comes from white people hating black people, or thinking that only blacks are inferior. The second meaning is as follows, •The belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races. THIS is the meaning that most people misunderstand, and it pisses me off. The description does NOT only specify that ANY race(Mexican, Asian, Black, White, Mixed, etc.) can BE racist. NOT JUST WHITE PEOPLE. When ONE person of a race says something, why should that determine what everyone else in that race thinks about another race? Keep in mind that if you think hugging your purse in a elevator with a black and/or other race present is racist, the KKK used to hold meetings in the woods down my road. Half of my town was run by the KKK, and some of my best friends are Black, Mexican, and Asian. These are some of the greatest people in my life. There will be people who discriminate, but why waste your time arguing when you have every right to scroll down. No one is stopping you. Some of these people just like to create havoc, so don't give them the satisfaction of knowing they got to you. Live your life happy, and worry about doing good in school or work or whatever you do.
