pls elaborate on your last post. exactly how many dreams about welcome home have you had
in hindsight?? not that many, actually. there was just like a solid 3-4 months where it was All i would dream about. i actually posted the freaky rpgmaker dream a while back as a tangent on an unrelated ask, but other highlights include:
the one where a new page got added to the site that i think was called "tattle doodles"? they were in a different style than the guestbook drawings - some were in clown's regular style while others looked more like raw pencil sketches. a few i remember included julie looking into a house at nighttime with this blank-eyed stare, and another one where frank was like venting to wally. there was a speech bubble from him that read "i just don't know what to do!" while wally looks back at him like a dog who swallowed the remote. but for some reason frank's wearing julie's dress and there's like an x-ray view of what's inside wally (it's a hand holding an apple) and i remember it being a kind of viscerally terrifying shot. also the entire time this is happening there's this absolutely feverish country song playing over it that only had a single verse repeated over and over again. i think it was something like "and you ain't never gonna lose what you never could've found."
the one where the website itself got like, hijacked? the art style shifted to something a lot more quentin-blake esque, and the neighborhood map in particular was a lot more crude, like crayon/color pencil sketches over a dark background. the blurbs for each character all got like Absurdly long and weirdly personal and accusatory and were very clearly not referring to the characters alone anymore. at some point i find a bunch of links to like, various webpages and fake news articles talking about this guy named thomas stone who i think knew ronald dorelaine somehow?or worked with him? and they had a falling out of Some Sort. either way my brain somehow made the connection that he was responsible for the art shift, and that was his art style. i don't remember anything else.
the one where the homepage got all gunked up. there was some writing in the background behind wally and every time i refreshed the page there was more of it. i don't remember what any of it said, except that it was very disparaging and the handwriting didn't match any of the characters'. it was written in like, black mspaint pencil, i would say. also at some point there were like, very simple drawings of the WH characters getting hanged at the fuckin gallows? like it started with poppy and after a couple of refreshes a new character got added. for some reason poppy had this color scheme from some older concept art.
the one where there was a cd single from wally, somehow. i don't remember anything about it except that he was a shockingly good singer, which is probably how i knew it was a dream.

Inktober 52 2023 - Week 2 - ‘Puppet’
(I like this sketch. Was just quick but it came out a bit Quentin Blake !)
Sooooo a while back I had a dream about a bee character who was a sad clown, and she looked like one of those ‘cartoon bee with a dog nose’ sort. I doodled her, but didn’t really have much to add (plus I already have a ‘pierrot’ clown character called Perri).
Tumblr media
But when this prompt ‘puppet’ came up, I was thinking of doing fan art of Guillermo del Toro‘s Pinocchio (which is awesome, and you must watch it if you haven’t) and looking at Sebastian cricket made me think of this bee clown again. So instead, I re-vamped her look and made her a sort of puppet. Whether she is a puppet or her act is pretending to be a puppet, I haven't decided yet.
Tumblr media
I’m still toying with looks and colours. I’ll have to come back to her at some point!

I’m a fan of Quentin Blake’s art from his Roald Dahl book covers 📚 but wasn’t familiar with this story book or this animated short which brings to life the organic, unapologetic pen lines & watercolors of Blake’s beautiful illustration style. I enjoyed how the subdued animation pairs with Helena Bonham Carter’s narration to deliver a charming Christmas classic 🎄

I’m looking for a children’s Christmas book about an elf. Would have been from the 80s or early 90s. The illustration was similar to the old cartoon Red Bull commercial. I am always reminded of it when i catch a glimpse of Buddy reading his book to the kids at the end of Elf. That book looks very similar.
Hi! I can definitely look into this for you and see what I can find but it also makes me think of 'Clown' by Quentin Blake, a picture book from 1980 set at Christmas with art similar to Red Bull (pic below). Does this match what you're thinking of?
