Headcanons for Wei Ruolai falling in love with you
(Wei Ruolai x GN!Reader)
He's not sure when exactly he fell for you, and it was most likely a slow process.
For example, he would find himself paying more attention to you during class, during the bank's meetings, and really just anytime at all.
Over time, he'd realize that he had begun to remember small things about you, too. Your favorite colors. The clothes you wear. The way you talk and the way you walk...
It's at that moment when he realizes he really, truly is in love with you.
Depending on your identity, Wei Ruolai would probably keep his distance first and observe you from afar. Especially if you came from a rich family.
He'd watch you secretly, admiring and gazing at you with fondness and adoration.
A few people notice the way his eyes light up when he sees you, but other than that, he would try his best to hide his feelings.
He's fooling no one, though. He tries to be subtle about it, but you notice that he helps you more than others, he smiles when he looks at you, and he genuinely enjoys talking to you. He even brings you to his house in Qibao Street, and he introduces you to his friends there.
If you're from a really affluent family, though, he might never make the first move unless you make it obvious that you like him too. And even then, he might be too shy to actually confess.
Wei Ruolai often feels out of place from the wealthy people, he knows that those born in wealthy families are different from people like him, and somehow he thinks he doesn't deserve you.
Perhaps in this situation, you'll have to be the one who confesses first.
Things might be different, though, if you came from an ordinary family. Wei Ruolai would find it easier to talk to you and get comfortable around you.
This also means that he won't hesitate to confess his feelings for you when the right time comes.

Week 2: Exploring the City
Hello hello! With another week living in Shanghai, China I feel like I’m really getting a grasp of life here. My dorm and host school isn’t actually in the downtown area of Shanghai, it is in one of the surrounding more suburban districts (Minghua district if that means anything to you). So during the first week, I largely explored campus and settled but now I’ve got some proper exploration of the massive metropolis city!
First Outing
The first trip into the city was filled with anxiety, excitement, and anticipation as I sat in the oddly cleanly, well air conditioned subway. Considering I’m essentially illiterate and mute in Chinese, I was worried about getting lost in the massive subway system but for the most part, everything was fairly straight forward. Apple maps, god bless, was in English and there were big fat numbers telling me where to go for each line on the subway station. After an hour and a half of commuting which passed in a flash, I finally emerged from the subway to get my first taste of Shanghai in Nanjing road.
The first thing that struck me was the sheer scale of everything. It was almost like I was in a minecraft city where everything was scaled up to add extra detail into the builds. The roads were bigger and the buildings were bigger but somehow it felt different from every other city I’ve been to.
The first thing we did, as the weebs we are, was go to a famous anime mall. There we ate Ichiraku ramen from Naruto and it was sub-par but a fun experience. Next, we walked to the bao, the river that separated old Shanghai from new Shanghai and took thousands of pictures as the tourists we are before wandering into a massive market where we ate some delicious meat skewers before trekking back to campus, anticipating the next outing.
Second Outing
For our next trip, we went into the ancient city Qibao and wow it was breathtaking. So far, my impression of Shanghai is super globalized and modern but this felt like I was transported to the past of the Northern Song Dynasty (according to wikipedia). Here there was street food galor with scallion pancakes, xiaolongbao, shengjianbao, zhongzi, and so much more that I was too nervous to try. The real magic happened when the sunset and the lights came on. It was absolutely surreal to spend so much time in the town and watch it transform to a hot suffocating heatbox, to a bustling night market, to a quiet town as shops began to packup.
Third Outing
For my third outing into the city, I went with some family I have in Shanghai and explored the Hongkou district! It was a bit awkward because they don’t speak any English and my Chinese is barely comprehensible but regardless I had a lot of fun! They took me to less touristy spots like random shacks serving the best shengjianbao I’ve ever had.
Overall, Shanghai is super overwelming but exciting at the same time! Next week, we will get a proper touristy tour of the main downtown area which I’m looking forward to but before then I’ll talk about actual classes.
See ya!

How would Wei Ruolai react if you told him you were pregnant?
(Wei Ruolai x Fem!Reader)
When he first heard you say it, he felt like his brain stopped working for a second.
Did you just say what he thought you said...? Say it again, he wants -- no, needs, to hear it again.
He's ecstatic, of course. He's going to be a father! He has a child with you! He couldn't be any happier.
Of course, after the initial happiness fades, Wei Ruolai finds himself worrying.
He has a stable job in the Central Bank, but now that you're pregnant, he thinks about saving his money to buy a proper house, or at least a place better than the one in Qibao Street.
He loves his neighbors in Qibao Street, of course, but he worries that living in such a place won't be good for you and the baby.
He'll be incredibly protective of you, perhaps overly so. He'll read articles, essays, and even some books on pregnancy so that he can support you.
He'll be strict about your diet too, because pregnant women need to eat healthy and get enough nutrients for two people.
Previously you were the one who did most of the cooking, but now that you're pregnant he absolutely won't let you cook. What if the smoke makes you cough? What if you get burnt? What if standing for too long is too taxing on your body?
He also knows his own cooking isn't that great (Chunmiao says he should be banned from the kitchen; you think his cooking is fine... a bit weird but fine, but he can't let you suffer and eat his cooking everyday, right?), so he'll ask Chunmiao to help cooking. Sometimes Ms. Zhou will cook something and share it with you too.
The more your belly shows, the more protective he will be. He insists that you ride a car of rickshaw wherever you go (A'Wen is happy to help with his services), he'll hold your hand when you two go together, and he'll glare at anyone who, accidentally or not, attempts to hurts you.
Sometimes you notice the way he looks at you, filled with love and overbearing emotion and gentleness. His gaze makes your heart warm and you can't help thinking about Wei Ruolai as a father.
Speaking of being a father, Wei Ruolai is nervous about it. He has a good relationship with his dad, but he's worried he won't be good enough. Of course, you reassure him and tell him it's fine, you know he'll be great as a dad.
Every day after working in the bank, he goes home early. Huang Congyun notices and asks him why, and of course he beams and tells Congyun that you're pregnant.
When Shen Tunan asks about it, Huang Congyun will tell him that you're pregnant, and Shen Tunan will mention it to his family.
Shen Jinzhen would be excited to hear about your pregnancy and nag at Wei Ruolai to treat you well. Wei Ruolai scoffs every time he hears it -- of course he'll treat you well, she doesn't need to tell him that.
But well, Wei Ruolai is glad Shen Jinzhen is worried about you too.
Shen Jinzhen would definitely visit you more than once, bringing gifts and food so that you can relax. Sometimes you think her protectiveness is almost as bad as Ruolai's.
When your due date is getting so much closer, Ruolai would be even more worried than before. He's worried your water will break while he's in the bank and there will be no one to take care of you.
What if you're in pain? What if you bleed too much? He needs and wants to be there for you.
Either Shen Tunan or Shen Jinzhen will notice his worries and tell Wei Ruolai to just take leave for a few days. His nervousness is palpable and it's affecting everyone, even Congyun. So rather than being nervous all the time, it would be better for Ruolai to accompany you and be at ease.
With him by your side, you feel more confident that nothing will go wrong. After all, Wei Ruolai is reliable, plus, he's your husband. He won't let anything happen to you.

Giving serious thought to this - I know, I know, I don't need it just because it's tiny, but.
Technically this is under doll house size, in my opinion (based on size x scale vs height chart) but eh, close enough you can use doll house props.
I've never ordered somehing with an actual wait time before, my new dolls have all been Resinsoul which is maybe a month, this says 3-5 months. (I know, people who've ordered from some of the big companies are going "Is that it???") So I keep debating "But I don't know what will be going on in 4 months". OK but to be fair, that is unlikely to change.
So now I just need to narrow down which I want... (I always say no sulky dolls but look at that little face.)
I am aware that clothes and shoes will be an absolute sod to get - it looks like even the shoes they have on the site don't really fit. That's OK, they look like pixies, they can go barefoot in dresses.
I know there's only so many ways you can hold a doll this tiny, but all I can think is "Please stop brandishing the pixie!"
(1st picture in pink dress is QiBao, the one being brandished is DouZi, who I'm leaning towards - both slightly sad faces, but very sweet.)
instagram
I only found out about these dolls today, they're the tiniest BJD I've ever seen. (DouBaoZi Dolls, on LuLaDoll.)
I thought PukiPuki were little (11.2cm.) These are 7cm. That's ridiculous.
