PWYL’s Year In Review
2020 has been quite the year, huh. Let’s look at what you’ve enjoyed, I’ve enjoyed and all that’s in between.

What A Tease: Seated Position - Mark Tuan suggestive scenario
What A Tease: Symphony - Jaebum smut scenario

My thoughts: It doesn’t surprise me to see this list as much as I thought it would. I’m grateful to see some of my favourite scenarios, like Inferior, Friends to Lovers and Maybe on this list. I would have thought there would be some Monsta X in amongst this though, since I wrote for them a lot this year. However, I expected Got7 stories to dominate this list.

To Be Continued - Young K (DAY6)
Forsaken - Jinyoung (GOT7)
Reconciliation - Jaebum (GOT7) linked above

Highlights of 2020
Finally finishing my You x Idol drabble game.
Writing some series ideas that I really thought were going to be hard (Forsaken, To Be Continued, 10 Dates) and being satisfied with how they turned out
Doing some groups series, like Band Sessions and MonX Hospital, and creating an entire world.
Collaborations with my writer friends. I honestly love writing with my friends!
Writing Sungjin as a cop in To Be Continued. He wasn’t even in the original draft notes for the series but became someone so deeply important to the storyline! I feel like each year, Sungjin’s characters keep coming out on top (last year, it was his story Existence in the Spiritual Connection world that came for my soul)
Destined hitting 2k notes and still being the most popular story and series on my blog.
Things I wish had gone differently / things I wasn’t happy about
The gaps in my writing schedule - whilst I needed to take those moments, looking back now, I wish I could have remained more consistent.
The lack of variety - in some areas, I did improve but looking back on everything, it was pretty obvious I stuck to like three groups for most of the year. Of course, this isn’t entirely bad as I discovered deeper connections with some of these characters, but it did mean I didn’t get as much variety as I hoped to.
The endless hate for Forsaken and Bloodstone - two stories that I was really excited to share. I know I need to let it go, but I really don’t get the big fuss around it all.
Personal pressure - I was so busy trying to improve as a writer over and over that at times I forgot to enjoy the journey as I travelled along it.
Frightful October - that whole thing was so unfortunate and it still breaks me to think of all the discarded plans @this-song-thats-only-for-you and I had, only to not give the segment it’s final hurrah as we hoped to. This was the last year we wanted to do it as we were going to try something new for 2021, so it’s really bittersweet knowing how much of a fail October was.
2021 Goals
To complete at least ten series
To either write the ideas that have been sitting in my ideas file for sometime, or to let them go... holding onto them for a rainy day so to speak isn’t going to work
Always aiming for variety but also accepting that there are some groups I just naturally have an affinity towards and that’s okay
To try and write more details into my worlds. This way, I’ll be adding more depth and word count - which isn’t a bad thing to be practicing if I wish to attempt writing longer pieces for eventual novel preparation
To collab with some other people than I usually do. I’m not very brave at approaching others but I want to give it a try! (please if you want to collab with me, feel free to message me haha)
I dunno why but it makes most sense to me to put Mayday6 in May, so it’s kind of a goal to make that happen then lol
Figure if I’m going to open another prompt list up for requests or offer sporadic requests - either way, bring in some fresh ideas from my followers at some point
To be uncaring about genres I choose. If I want to write four royal au stories in a row, then so be it (I have a lot of royal and regency au ideas, someone please make me stop dreaming about being a princess or wearing pretty dresses lmfao)
Whilst scheduling to me is important, not pressuring myself to stick to the same format of writing each week/month. I’m not burned out, but I am bored of the same thing time and time again.
Admittedly, this one is one I can’t not ask of myself - make a pile of writing so I’m ahead again. I like the feeling of having stories to fall back on.. but also allowing newer stories to jump the queue if I’m most excited for them.
Phew! What a year I’ve had! There’s been some amazing moments not captured in this list, and amazing people who I’m forever grateful for. Thank you for supporting me!
May 2021 bring some really awesome personal writer growth and fun for this writing blog!!

Hi Chelle! I'm a bit new to your blog but I've been enjoying a lot of your fics (they're INCREDIBLE!!). My personal favourite(s) (so far) being the AIRFORCE7 series, in addition to Destined. You probably get asked this a lot, but I was wondering if you had any advice for aspiring fanfic writers? I'm a bit tentative towards posting my work, so I'd appreciate any advice. Thank you!!
Welcome to my blog, and thank you SO MUCH for your incredibly kind compliment. I’m so honoured! AF7 is a special series to me so I get really happy whenever someone lets me know they love it too!
I took a quick look at my #pwyl; writing tips tag (will tag on this post too if you’re interested to take a look as some previous questions) and found this post that might help HERE
However, some advice (which is probably all in that link but oh well):
Start with something small. Drabbles are what I swear by as the most effective tool for a writer to have. Drabbles are not only easier to complete due to being shorter, but they’re also easier to read too. The more drabbles you write and post, the more confident you’ll get to tackle bigger stories and the easier they become to write as well. That way by the time you’ve written and shared enough drabbles that your first longer story comes along, you will have some guidelines in place of what to expect from yourself.
A new mantra I’ve been living by is pleasing your very first reader - which is yourself. If you’ve written something and enjoyed it, then I highly suggest sharing that joy with others.
Prompts are your best friend if you don’t know where to begin. There’s so many lists out there to work from and prompt blogs too. Cheeky plug, but I run @challengingwords where we share a new prompt each fortnight. I also love @promptdumpster to scroll whenever I’m void of inspiration for an idea.
Validation is important and I believe writers share their work here to gain feedback and motivation to grow as a writer. At the same time though, it can consume you if you’re not careful - been there before - and so I highly recommend you don’t let notes dictate who you choose to write about.
Write what makes you happy as well. If that’s enemies to lovers from every single angle you can think of, then do it. I mean, I have LOL. (I just need to write the perfect lovers to enemies with Jinyoung now)
Networking and a good tagging system are helpful in getting your blog out there. Even if it’s daunting, don’t be afraid to reach out to other writers for feedback. A lot of us will help our fellow writer mutuals and reblog your content too. Look out for places like @kwritersworld when they are open for applications if they suit your fanfic and apply to join. They reblog your stories and help get them out to a wider audience. They also hold awesome events at certain times of the year that you can participate in and further challenge yourself!
And finally, have fun. If it’s stressing you out, maybe you’re not ready to start a blog. However, if and when you do, please let me know. I’d love to read what you come up with!
I’m also contemplating in writing up some actual dedicated writing tutorials to help people out some time this year, would this be something anyone is interested in? I’m not saying I know what I’m doing myself, but I just want to share what I have learned over the past 2 years here, and the 10+ years I have from writing fanfiction with others.

Voting Tip: Please vote for an idol NOT the group
Your vote won’t be counted. Please choose an idol FROM the groups I listed in my voting page so I can tally up who you would all most like to read a story with as the main star.
Getting a vote for Nuest as opposed to Baekho isn’t going to ensure he specifically gets the story in the end, for example.
For those who want to vote for my “PWYL’s Choose What I Write” pieces, you can do so HERE.
I’m getting a lot of different idols, which is awesome! But all these added group votes instead aren’t able to be counted, sorry.
For all those who have taken the time to vote already and suggested some great idol choices, thank you very much, I appreciate it!!

PWYL’s Choose What I Write Results!
Now that both stories are up, for those who want to see how it all came together, click below to read more.
First, here are screenshots of the lists I kept to ensure I calculated correctly. I know there may be a minority who goes “Well Chelle, why not share the formulated answers from the poll itself?!” Doing two polls in the end meant there would be a whole heap more photos to navigate. I hope you see me as trustworthy enough to trust I’ve added this up fairly! Besides, if you look at who won for the GOT7 story, you know this hasn’t been altered. We all know I would have changed away to another member if it were up to me! XD
It was a very tight race, with Jaehyun, Shownu, Wonho and Chanyeol fighting out the good battle and well, you can see who won below.
(Broken votes = those who didn’t read and voted for groups or you know, the couple of people who voted for GOT7 again >_> )
And finally, the answers to the options. As you can see, in the AU category, soulmates and university won for GOT7. I’ve decided since university au won for the 2nd story as well, to go with soulmates for Jinyoung’s story.
Well there you have it. A lot of information, and hopefully the stories lived up to all your expectations! Thank you again to everyone who have waited for these stories... I did intend to have them out a whole lot earlier had I not needed to go on hiatus <3

Requests Schedule & Fiction Info:
This week we see the return of Through His Eyes (thank god, right?!) and the final piece in the Shownu series, Could You Marry Me? I’ve really enjoyed sharing a story each day with you all, and I will definitely be sharing some future series like this if they aren’t going to exceed 7-8 parts.
I hope to write two stories starring Youngmin (AB6IX) in one and Minhyuk (CNBLUE) in the other this week as well, but I’m just not sure when and where I’ll post them so I didn’t want to commit to them and then not have them show up in case I’ve run out of time.
Regarding "PWYL’s Choose What I Write anniversary poll:
I have concluded all the results and I’m looking forward to sharing the two stories on the 2nd July! I realise that is a Tuesday and Through His Eyes will still be running then, so I will either share T.H.E on the Monday or Wednesday so you don’t miss out on another part!

So I’ve tallied up the results for the PWYL’s Choose What I Write... should I share them now or make you all wait until I release the stories on the 2nd of July?
I want to be transparent with the results as I’m sure it would be all too easy to alter them if I didn’t like the results. However, I wonder if knowing all the results won’t make the stories as exciting on the day? Even though they are just the setup ideas of the story, and not the actual words that will be written.
Please let me know your thoughts! I’ve drafted up a post but am happy to keep it hidden until July 2nd.
Or would you like to know who the idols are of the stories, but keep it hidden the rest of the details or vice versa? Happy to accommodate what the majority thinks!
