I’ve seen many people reblog a post which contains tweets that, in my eyes, amount to a single complaint that is only half true (but that I agree with for the most part). But anyway, here’s a longpost:
(tweet in question)
I think it’s mostly wrong to say FPS multiplayer “peaked” ("was most fun for the playerbase"?) with Source games in the way presented. Believe it or not, you can still join a server with 30 people playing on a user map with fucked up assets everywhere, and some of the 30 people playing will be 14-year-olds with bad mics getting mad at being spawn killed by someone with 20,000 hours in the game. In fact, there are servers like this in most Source games, including Garry’s Mod, TF2, and CSS and CSGO (but honestly I think TF2 is most representative of the above scenario). I just launched Valve’s community server browser and have found an unending list of silly-sounding servers for TF2: Minecraft trade, Murder at the Mannor, Zombie Escape, Medieval Mode, all full or near-full. I checked Garry’s Mod: SCP-RP, Zombie Survival, Clone Wars Roleplay, “Swamp Cinema”, 1980’s Mafia Roleplay, DarkRP (x20), again, all well-populated. Admittedly CS2 was mostly deathmatch servers (due to it being Source 2 and not Source and so missing a lot of plugins that would allow for “fun” servers), but CSS still had surf, bhop, minigames, and jailbreak servers still going and full. My server browser won’t show CSGO for whatever reason, but up until CS2 released I know for a fact that these silly ass servers still exist there too. The implication that these servers and their conditions are gone is wrong. You don’t want a server with the exact same conditions though, I think you want to relive the specific memories you’re having and feel happiness again. But maybe I’m going too far there.
How about this. I’ll give it to you, Dusk developer, that for you FPS multiplayer peaked with insane TF2 trade servers, but you also make boomer shooters for a living, so I think you’re biased towards enjoying an older generation of games anyway. Modern FPS games are fantastic and in their own ways contain a lot of fun. Modern games in general fill the spaces that, for you, TF2 servers filled. Have you seen Roblox minigames and Minecraft server plugins? They’re actually crazy and decently well made. I’m excited that kids have grown up in such a good environment for games. They have tons of options that we didn’t have back then. It’s awesome! Like, don’t let your nostalgia blind you to the fact that kids are having just as much fun as you now. TF2 and Garry’s Mod are not the be-all, end-all of FPS multiplayer fun. That sentiment I completely disagree with and think people should get over.
But like, how the hell does competitive gaming play into this? I truly don’t buy the wording of “Esports and competitive ranking ruined multiplayer”. It’s just not true. Not only are the servers you’re mourning still exist, they’re still well-populated and their “golden age” coincided with some of the greatest heights in competitive FPS gaming. You know what’s funny? When CSGO released in 2012, TF2 saw a drop of almost 10,000 average players. It recovered basically the next year. Besides a small dip in 2018, TF2 had held around 50,000 average players since its release, until 2019 where its average player-count has risen to about 80,000 players. Garry’s Mod wouldn’t peak in total concurrent players until 2015 and has had a dedicated core of players averaging around 25,000 since like 2013. Seriously, these are incredibly consistent player-counts throughout the release of Overwatch, PUBG, Fortnite, Apex, and Valorant. In fact, contrary to the tweeter's implicit assumptions, it seems like nothing much has changed, and that competitive gaming did not, at all, ruin or depopulate these “fun” spaces.
So, again, how does competitive gaming and esports play into this? Only thing I think is valid is the fact that a few popular modern FPSes don’t do the whole “community-hosted server” thing: Apex, Fortnite, PUBG, Valorant, and Overwatch all do not have native community-hosted server support. Which, to be frank, is bad for their competitive gaming scene too! Esports has ALWAYS used self-hosted servers for practicing to get better. I don’t know the argument for not having these sorts of things, maybe not developing the toolkit for these things is easier than developing them. IDK. But I agree that it is bad that many popular games don’t support this sort of thing. The “self-hosted netizen” is a category of person that’s been declining for a long time regardless of the effect of competitive first-person shooter games on the casual first-person shooter games self-hosted server market. But again, for the topic of the post, I think this is a completely nonsensical implication. As far as I can tell ALL Valve-made Source engine games have active and popular community servers still, and the popular games ALL have very populated servers with “fun” gamemodes and atmospheres. Competitive has grown very popular, yes. It's true. It's fun to compete, everyone knows it. But esports has taken very little if anything away from the casual playerbase of Source games.
(Also, for the record, during the actual multiplayer FPS golden age of the time, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 shooters, there were no self-hosted servers for us, and it was still the most fun anyone ever had playing casually on console. It was the age of trickshotting and montages, man! For the intent of this post that exact restriction counts as “keeping players from interacting with one another” yet these games, especially COD, were, uh… infamously social. Not to mention these games had competitive scenes alongside the casual scene perfectly fine.)
I think, really, ignoring the actual content of the tweet, these tweets are just about nostalgia for your childhood. Which is fine! You can miss things you used to do for fun and no longer do. Probably every human that’s ever existed has gone through this. I mean, again, it is kind of popular in current culture to be nostalgic. The 90s aesthetic, early 2000s media, retro games, super hero movies, cartoons being consumed by adults to a greater degree than ever, et cetera. I think to some extent the complaint itself isn’t like, a completely unclouded judgement of the Decline of The Beauty of Multiplayer Gaming throughout the years. The concrete complaints in those tweets seem both a little rose-tinted and unnecessarily doomerpilled to me. But like, regardless, it’s kind of your fault for not returning to these things, man. Go join one of those servers if you’re not busy being an adult with a job and friends and other obligations that may keep you from doing things that you’re not used to and have fun like you did in childhood. Or is that what's actually the problem…? I don’t know. A suggestion. I just think in the end the complaint isn't valid.
This post is long and I had a LOT of thoughts that I may have missed or chopped off at the incorrect time. I think the picture I'm trying to build has probably been communicated, though? Maybe I’m not considering something, maybe I overinterpreted implications, maybe the fact that the playerbase of TF2 and Garry's Mod being highly consistent for ten years or whatever is not indicative of anything I've said, but I hope regardless you understand that like, at least part of this tweet is weird to say in the ways I've attempted to untease. People young and old are still having crazy times in video games and esports has done, as far as I can tell, absolutely nothing to change at, ever.
Turning off reblogs because I have a feeling anyone who doesn't follow me might become annoying about this

Since there's talk of an e-sports Olympics happening next year, I think someone (or I) should write a comedy story about the wacky misadventures of the USA's first Olympic e-sports team.
They're actually not the biggest delegation this time. Japan is.
Just like in Paris, there's a 50/50 split of men and women. People start complaining that "most of those girls are DEI picks. They aren't good at video games." They shut up when an all-female team wins gold at PUBG.
There were going to be gendered divisions until someone said, "How different are male and female hands, really?"
So many individual sports games that people start asking why they don't just add Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games since it has them all.
A lot of MOBAs.
Mario Odyssey speedrunning was going to have a 100% category, but that would take too long, so it's just Any%.
The IOC doesn't fully understand competitive Smash, so they don't ban any stages.
The gold medalist in Smash Ultimate plays Ice Climbers.
The USA's team for Splatoon 3 actually came in second at the trials because the first-place team was racist. (This one is actually based in real life. The Splatoon 3 world champions just got their title revoked for being racist.)
The Street Fighter 6 world champion loses to a furry. It becomes a PR nightmare. (Also partially based in real life: https://www.shacknews.com/article/106563/sonicfox-beats-rival-go1-to-win-dragon-ball-fighterz-at-evo-2018)
Olympic Rhythm Heaven. (They use Megamix because it has a numerical scoring system. Fever fans are livid.)
They tried to add Animal Crossing, but they had no idea how to make it a competitive event. Same with Minecraft.
Tetris is not included because of its origins in Russia. Suika Game is added as an alternative. Some Tetris players enter thinking it can't possibly be that different and end up raging at Suika Game's physics.
There is a classic arcade game decathlon that ends up being surprisingly popular.
NBC tries to find some popular YouTubers and Twitch streamers to commentate the games. The only really popular one they can find without any dirt on them is Markiplier.
Someone gets injured playing Just Dance. I don't know how. They just do.
The Gran Turismo team gets harassed by the Mario Kart team for "not playing a real racing game."
Due to a licensing mix-up with Microsoft, the IOC gets the rights to host a Blinx the Time Sweeper event instead of Halo. Not knowing what to do, they cobble together a competition with Blinx 2's multiplayer mode. There are only three people in the event, and it turns out to be a disaster.
Nintendo and the IOC create another licensing agreement so that there can be Nintendo games at the Olympics. Nintendo adds a loophole that lets them keep making Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games.

Introduction
Conclusion

PUBG Mobile
Title: The Evolution and Impact of PUBG Mobile: A Game-Changer in the World of Mobile Gaming
In the realm of mobile gaming, few titles have achieved the cultural impact and global phenomenon status as PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, better known as PUBG Mobile.
Since its release in 2018, this battle royale game has captivated millions of players worldwide, transcending boundaries of age, nationality, and gaming platforms.
The Rise of PUBG Mobile
PUBG Mobile Apk emerged from the PC gaming scene where its predecessor, PUBG, gained massive popularity. Developed by PUBG Corporation and Tencent Games, the mobile version was tailored for smartphones and tablets, delivering the same adrenaline-pumping experience of surviving and outlasting opponents on a shrinking battlefield.
The game's success can be attributed to its innovative approach to mobile gaming. It introduced a large-scale multiplayer environment where up to 100 players parachute onto an island, scavenge for weapons and gear, and engage in intense combat until only one player or team remains standing. This dynamic gameplay, combined with high-quality graphics and intuitive controls, quickly propelled PUBG Mobile to the forefront of the mobile gaming industry.
Cultural Phenomenon and Global Community
What sets PUBG Mobile apart is its ability to create a global community of players who connect, compete, and collaborate in real-time. The game's accessibility on mobile devices ensured that anyone with a smartphone could participate, leading to a diverse player base spanning different continents and demographics.
Players not only enjoy the thrill of strategic gameplay but also form friendships, join clans, and participate in esports competitions. PUBG Mobile's esports scene has grown exponentially, with tournaments attracting millions of viewers and offering substantial prize pools, further solidifying its status in the competitive gaming arena.
Impact on Mobile Gaming Industry
Beyond its cultural impact, PUBG Mobile has significantly influenced the mobile gaming industry as a whole. It set a benchmark for graphics, gameplay mechanics, and multiplayer functionality, inspiring developers to innovate and push the boundaries of what's possible on mobile devices.
Moreover, PUBG Mobile's success paved the way for other battle royale titles and multiplayer games to flourish on mobile platforms. It demonstrated the viability of complex, immersive gaming experiences traditionally associated with PCs and consoles on handheld devices, ushering in a new era of mobile gaming sophistication.
Challenges and Future Innovations
Despite its success, PUBG Mobile has faced challenges, including competition from similar games and concerns over addiction and gameplay balance. However, ongoing updates, community feedback, and collaborations with influencers and content creators have enabled the game to evolve and maintain relevance in a dynamic gaming landscape.
Looking ahead, PUBG Mobile continues to innovate with new maps, gameplay modes, and technological advancements. The integration of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) elements may further enhance player immersion and gameplay experiences, promising an exciting future for fans and newcomers alike.
Conclusion
In conclusion, PUBG Mobile stands as a testament to the transformative power of mobile gaming. It has redefined how we perceive and engage with games on smartphones, fostering a global community of passionate players and setting new standards for quality and innovation in the industry. As it continues to evolve and adapt to changing trends and technologies, PUBG Mobile remains a cornerstone of modern mobile gaming, leaving an indelible mark on the digital entertainment landscape.

Popularity Of Mobile Games In 2024
Imagine this! The summer holidays have just begun. The exams are over, and you want to go to your home and enjoy games. Of course, you are excited, but the PC is engaged, and someone is working on it. Instead of being disappointed, you choose to play the snake game on our old classic Nokia phone and manage to beat your high score!
Good old days, right? We had so much fun playing simple mobile games like Tetris and Snake on our mobile phones. The simple structure and straightforward rules make these games easy to understand and playable for everyone.
Growing up we have observed all the developments in the preferences of gamers. PC games managed to dominate during the 2000s but the introduction of the touchscreen made the experience even more fulfilling. Phones with touchscreen capabilities and sleek features suddenly turned the tide in the favour of mobile games. These developments also widened the scope of mobile gaming as they were not limited to offline modes anymore.
In 2011, we witnessed a new era with the introduction of extremely popular online mobile games like Temple Run, Subway Surfers, and Angry Birds. All the kids and teenagers started demanding their parents buy them a mobile phone instead of a PC. The games became so popular that they managed to overshadow the market of PC games.
The reason is obvious. The most simple games are the ones that attain the highest popularity. Games with complex gameplay are not always easy to understand by everyone and they may even ruin the experience of gaming because of being too complicated to understand and follow. Professional gamers may prefer complex gameplay but the majority of our population plays these games as a pastime. Casual gamers prefer games that are easy to follow and easy to understand. Moreover, casual games are not limited to the young generation. Games like Candy Crush and Solitaire are being enjoyed by the adult population regularly because they act as stressbusters. We can certainly say that simple games with easy-to-follow rules end up dominating the gaming sector.
With people being stuck in their houses and uncertain about their future, classic games with simple gameplay made a solid comeback in the year 2020. Online mobile gaming saw its peak during the COVID-19 pandemic. People just wanted to engage in fun activities to make them forget about the dire situation. Multiplayer games achieved the highest success during these testing times. Even though PUBG’s mobile version was launched in 2018, it gained the highest popularity during the pandemic. People who preferred board games over action games often engaged in games like Ludo and Scrabble. Due to the financial crisis, some gamers were even able to monetize games like PUBG to their benefit and started building income. Competitions were being arranged between the best players on a large scale to find out the best player amongst them.
After understanding in brief about the popularity of mobile games, you must be looking for a platform to play online mobile games. Now, there are thousands of platforms available online. Week 10: Gaming Communities, Social Gaming and Live Streaming
welcome back to nn’s blog ♡₊˚ 🎮・₊✧
Hello peeps! In this week of my digital communities blog, we're diving into something super exciting – Gaming Communities, Social Gaming, and Live Streaming, so now let’s get started!
A short question -ˋˏ✄┈┈┈┈
Have you ever spent hours watching someone play your favorite game, thinking, “I could totally do that!”?
For real, I think so too! A bit about me, I used to be super into gaming during MCO, and can be considered as a certified gamer girl for sure hahahaha!! I played a ton of mobile games like Honor of Kings, PUBG, Eggy Party, and etc. For computer games, I’ve played Genshin Impact (I lost my account sobbing), Ark Survival, Wuthering Waves, which is the one I’m currently playing with.
Now, let’s talk about Twitch. Twitch is the ultimate hub for gamers and streamers. If you’re into epic RPGs, intense FPS battles, or cozy farming sims, Twitch is a great choice for you! Twitch isn’t just about watching people play games, it’s about building communities. Take streamers like PewDiePie and Jacksepticeye, for example. These streamers aren’t just gamers; they’re entertainers, community leaders, and friends to thousands of viewers. They create spaces where people can play games together, chat, and share their love for gaming (Taylor 2018).
PewDiePie, whose real name is Felix Kjellberg, started his journey on YouTube and quickly became one of the most popular content creators on the platform. His hilarious commentary, genuine personality, and diverse content, ranging from gaming to memes and vlogs, have earned him a massive following. PewDiePie's influence extends beyond gaming; he's known for his charity work and his ability to connect with fans on a personal level (Johnson & Woodcock 2019).
youtube
@/PewDiePie posted on YouTube I love to watch him play Poppy Playtime fr
Next, we have Jacksepticeye, who is Seán McLoughlin, is another well known YouTuber in the gaming community. Known for his energetic personality and positive attitude, Jacksepticeye has built a loyal fanbase through his Let's Play videos and live streams. His catchphrase, "Top of the mornin' to ya, laddies!" has become iconic among his followers. Somehow, Jacksepticeye also uses his platform to support various charities and spread positivity, making him a beloved figure in the gaming world (Hilvert-Bruce et al. 2018).

But what makes Twitch so special? For starters, it’s all about interaction. Streamers chat with their viewers in real-time, answer questions, and even take game suggestions (Hamilton, Garretson & Kerne 2014). It’s like hanging out with a friend who just happens to be a gaming pro. Plus, the emotes and chat memes add an extra layer of fun and connection.
Remember the hype around Among Us in 2020? Pewdiepie has collaborated with other famous streamers such as Mr Beast, Corpse Husband and Disguised Toast to play this game. This collaboration has brought a lot of hilarious content, watching them play with their friends, strategize, and, of course, betray each other was pure entertainment gold.
y'all can watch through this link below
youtube
So, what’s the takeaway? Twitch and gaming communities are all about connection, creativity, and fun. Whether you’re an experienced gamer or just a beginner of streaming, there’s a place for you here!
Well that’s all for today! stay tuned for my next blog <3 see ya!
