Summary: 55,000 years ago, the protheans won a Pyrrhic victory over the reapers. From the ashes of the Prothean Republic and the rusting hulks of the reapers, the ancient asari grew into a galaxy-spanning empire. Two people on opposite sides first meet during an abduction that threatens to upend the tenuous armistice between the Asari Empire and the Terminus Systems. Decades later, they face each other again as forced allies and unwitting political pawns when the galaxy’s three major factions collide.
Chapter 2: Sphere of Influence
55 Tevos 437 Forty years later, one of the last things Thaia had ever expected was to see Aria T’Loak and her most trusted lieutenant, Soraya T’Perro, again. On Omega. On friendly terms. With Thaia being assigned a job by Aria. And Thaia accepting it because she had no choice if she wanted to stay on Omega while waiting for the Omega-4 Relay to be cleared of sabotage from the human terrorist group, Cerberus. All she wanted to do was study it and continue her work with designing and building a prototype relay for the asari, yet here she was, about to be working for Aria T’Loak. “and I can’t have you idling on my station,” Aria was saying while standing across from Thaia, the large operations table between them. A technical model of Omega’s structure slowly rotated above it, two sections near the mine highlighted, and a third highlighted section at the opposite end. “You’ll be pulling some guard duty.” Please not any of the clubs. Aria signaled to Soraya, who lifted a bag from the floor and set it on the table in front of Thaia. Then she unzipped it, revealing a full kit of low-profile body armor, clothing manufactured from ballistic cloth, and other sundries commandos on personal bodyguard details often used. “I had my people pick up your weapons. Your pistol is in the bag. Your other weapons and belongings are currently being moved to more secure and far better lodgings,” Soraya said, and then studied her for a moment. “Bit of a shithole you were living in.”

OC Questions tag game - (lisa-and-shadow question answers)
I was tagged by @lisa-and-shadow in the oc questions tag game and I'm going to answer the three given me as all 4 of my ocs!- Seren Jones, Aeryn Ryder, Zofie Orel and Kiara Black This was great to really delve into their personalities as i wrote these, i hope that comes across! Since this is going to be a long post, answers behind a cut! And I'll tag @vorchagirl @despicablediet and @bearlytolerant @staticpallour @fangbangerghoul @a-cosmic-elf @atonalginger @eridanidreams @toxiclizardwrites @therealgchu @aro-pancake with these three questions to answer, no pressure though! What is your favourite place to visit? Do you have a signature style or look? What was your favourite toy as a child?
First up Seren Jones (My Starfield, Coemancer Starborn OC)
Tumblr media
What was your first kiss like? "Oh...fumbled, messy and embarrassing!...but kinda nice too. I was fourteen and so innocent in that regard. It was with a girl I'll call Katie, a fellow expat I'd met and grown fond of in the Akilan secondary school I ended up in after my parents and I had moved back there. I'd known from the moment i started thinkin about other kids in that way that I liked both boys and girls and finding a girl that seemed to like me too, well I jumped at it...guess my curious explorer streak came out early! It was such a classic trope, kissing her behind the school sheds during break. She basically dared me and I'd never kissed anyone, so I just sort of smushed my lips against hers as she opened her mouth and yeah...messy. Then a teacher came round the corner and discovered us and although they weren't angry I was so embarrassed. Katie I think more so as she kinda avoided me after that." Do you have a signature style of dress/favorite outfit? "Now? I guess my starborn suit. It feels like it's part of me... I dunno. When I'm reborn in a new universe, I'm already wearing it, like it's born with me. But style? I tend to go practical, what will fit under it, so sportswear or jumpsuits, anything fitted or light. As for what I like, I guess I used to enjoy wearing fitted suits and formwear in dark colours, like blues, blacks and greys, sombre tones rather than bright colors. That I leave to my hair! Think my favourite item of clothing though...was my wedding dress. That was this cream and deep dark navy blue sleeveless gown I'd found in a shop in New Homestead, but I think that had a lot to do with the way Sam looked at me when he saw me in it." Are you quick tempered? Or even-keeled? "I'd like to say even keeled most of the time, even when I'm seething inside I play it cool usually. Why I survived that gauntlet going undercover with the Crimson Fleet for Sysdef. I used my anger to play the role and I think when I do show anger it's the cold kind. I don't tend to scream or shout, unless it's the Hunter provoking me, then...well I tend to react." Next Aeryn Ryder ( My Mass Effect Andromeda pathfinder)
Tumblr media
What was your first kiss like? "Oh god let me think...Okay, you know, I don't actually remember exactly as those days have become a blur. I can tell you though the first kiss I do remember, the one that set the bar for all future kisses. That was with Kesala when I was eighteen, a research assistant on a prothean dig I was peacekeeping. She was this petite lavender skinned asari that just made everything so interesting. She had such enthusiasm for her work that it was infectious and she brought that to the evening I spent with her at the bar. She was what...112, young for an asari but I could tell she was experienced if you know what I mean. The kiss itself was tender, slow and made my legs weak...and that's all I'm saying on the matter." Do you have a signature style of dress/favorite outfit? "My black leather jacket, I love that thing so much. I usually pair it with a simple top, and fitted pants and my go to sneakers, usually in purple shades. I like comfy and casual. Not that I don't like dressing up, I love dressing up, but I never get chance now! I'm either in armor or wanting to wear something comfy afterwards. I did get to see these gorgeous fabrics back on Aya that Jaal told me were used to make gowns for ceremonies and important parties. Maybe one day I'll get something made for myself, when we can finally celebrate." Are you quick tempered? Or even-keeled? "Feisty, that's what my brother Tristan says I'm like. I've had to temper it as Pathfinder with all the important people I deal with and SAM thank god really helps there, calming me down from doing or saying something I might regret. But there are times they know to just let me loose and let it out my system!"
Next Zofie Orel (My Deus Ex / Assassin's Creed OC)
Tumblr media
What was your first kiss like? "Hmm. Jason, a fellow Assassin acolyte in the Coterie. We shared a birthday so we shared a kiss too after both of us getting a little drunk at our eighteenth party...He died in the Incident protecting civilians. He was a gentle soul really, I don't really think suited to the life, but he was a damn good scout and very good kisser." Do you have a signature style of dress/favorite outfit? "I only wear red, black and white clothes as it makes it easier to mix and match when travelling and I rather like the symbolism. I suppose I have different signature outfits depending on who I am at the time. As Sofia, I wear sleek, expensive clothing, usually a fitted suit. As myself when on a job I wear my custom made tac vest and armoured combat trousers and when I'm off the job, it's what ever is clean but I tend to go for more high end clothing, just in case I need to put on the Sofia persona." Are you quick tempered? Or even-keeled? "I would be lying if I said I didn't have a temper, but I've been trained to control it, hone it into a weapon. Some may call me cold for it, but I feel things strongly, I just hide it well, lest my emotions be seen as a weakness by the enemy." Lastly Kiara Black (My Thief/Dishonored OC)
Tumblr media
What was your first kiss like? "That's a bit personal, why do you want to know?" *a few minutes pass* "Fine, you're not going to let this go are you? It was a streetgang kid when i lived in Dunwall, nothing special." Do you have a signature style of dress/favorite outfit? "Anything dark and fitted so I'm not noticed. I tend to swap between my gear - this leather and twill get up I'm wearing now and something loose after to let my skin breath." Are you quick tempered? Or even-keeled? "I...try not to be. But some people make me angry with their bigotry and arrogance. I can't do much about it though, so there is no point in getting angry, it's better to get even."

cleric's oc factsheet
thought I would compile a quick list of my Mass Effect OCs, including my Shepards, with some basic facts/features about them. I'll be updating this randomly as I sculpt more characters, add more to my canon, and so on :) this is also in my pinned post!
Within Regis's and Nyx's canon, they do exist in each other's universes. However:
In Regis's canon, Nyx stayed a civilian engineer. He and Hackett reconciled before the events of ME2 and restarted their relationship. He's an Alliance contact for tech-related needs and is a strong war-asset for the construction of the Crucible.
In Nyx's canon, Regis never went to BAaT, learned biotics with Vikram, and still did his cybernetics education, which led him to also going to Omega with Vik. He meets Zaeed and enters a relationship with him, and he ends up meeting Kaidan on Omega three years before the events of ME1. He's an Alliance contact for terminus on-goings and also works as a merc with Zaeed if needed.
REGIS LUCIAN SHEPARD
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gender: Male (He/him)
Age: 32 (in ME1)
Birthday: February 9, 2151
Classification: N7 Sentinel
Rank: Commander (ME1); Admiral (Post-ME3)
Sexuality: Gay
Relationship: In a polyamorous relationship with Kaidan Alenko and Zaeed Massani

Been in a relationship with Kaidan since a couple of years after BAaT, and they met Zaeed on Omega three years before the events of ME1. Regis has an education background in cybernetics and implants and codes his own omnitool programs.
Notoriety: Butcher of Torfan
Morality: Mostly Renegade
Notable Events: Ashley and Kaidan both survive Virmire; Garrus, Grunt, and Legion perish on the suicide mission. Regis doesn't recruit Garrus in ME1 and recruits Liara last. Liara is not the Shadow Broker, but Regis's friend Wren is instead. Kaidan and Ashley start N7 training after Regis's death. They both obtain Spectre status before ME3.
NYX "PHOENIX" SHEPARD
Tumblr media
Gender: Male (He/Him)
Age: 59 (in ME1)
Birthday: May 1, 2124
Classification: N7 Engineer, past Infiltrator
Rank: Commander (ME1); Captain (Post-ME1)
Sexuality: Gay
Relationship: In a polyamorous relationship with Kaidan Alenko and Steven Hackett
Quick Facts: First Contact War Veteran, obtained eezo exposure at an older age and subsequently developed biotics due to a genetic anomaly gained from Prothean experimentation on ancient humans. Nickname came from his ability to revive any old tech and equipment, and his penchant to get back up when all seems lost. Infiltrator during the FCW that targeted and assassinated key turian targets and stole information.
Alternate Universe: No Reapers AU/Protheans nearly won but wiped themselves out in the process and leaving a few straggler Reapers alive.
Notoriety: Butcher of Torfan
Morality: Mostly Paragon
Notable Events: Does not recruit Garrus in ME1, saves both Ashley and Kaidan on Virmire. Kaidan becomes a Spectre after ME1 and Ashley is sent for N7 training.
WREN CLARKSON
Tumblr media
Gender: Female (She/Her)
Age: 30 (in ME1)
Birthday: August 8, 2153
Classification: N7 Fury
Rank: Commander (ME1), Major (ME2)
Sexuality: Lesbian
Relationship: After a long time of pining, ends up with EDI
Quick Facts: Becomes the Shadow Broker under Regis's orders, effectively turning the Broker's resources into the Alliance's, making them a more fearsome power during ME3.
Notoriety: Hero of Elysium
Morality: Mostly Renegade
SETH NOMAD
Gender: Male (He/They)
Age: 35 (in ME1)
Birthday: December 27, 2148
Classification: N7 Paladin
Rank: Commander (ME1), Captain (ME3)
Sexuality: Asexual
Relationship: Doesn't have one currently
Quick Facts: Secondary Shadow Broker to Wren, works closely with Hackett to coordinate Alliance efforts within the network's capacity. Not a biotic but enjoys the Paladin classification due to their drone work.
Notoriety: Akuze Sole Survivor
Morality: Neutral-Paragon
ADRIAN SHEPARD
Gender: Male (He/Him)
Age: 58 (in ME1)
Birthday: April 21, 2125
Occupation: Pilot, Smuggler
Sexuality: Pansexual
Relationship: Bonding with Vikram T'Lara
Quick Facts: Twin brother to Atlas Shepard, Regis's father. Very laid back, casual, and cares little for formality. Met Vikram on an Omega run and after he ran into some trouble. Very good with hand-to-hand combat. Main residence is Earth. Tolerates Hannah Shepard and disliked her parenting towards Regis.
Morality: Neutral-Paragon
VIKRAM T'LARA
Gender: Non-binary (They/them)
Age: 841 (in ME1)
Birthday: June 1, 1342
Occupation: Former Asari Commando, Former Asari Cybernetic Engineer and Technician, current physician on Omega. Later joins the Alliance as a doctor after 2185.
Sexuality: Pansexual
Relationship: Bonding with Adrian Shepard
Quick Facts: Would have been the one to train Regis if it weren't for politics surrounding BAaT. Extremely powerful with biotics and is always willing to share their knowledge. Hates the current asari status-quo and finds their leadership and race to be stagnant.
Morality: Neutral-Renegade

Gimme Ghost for Jenn pretty please?
from this OC ask game here! thank you!!!
Ghost: who or what haunts your OC? What happened? How do they live with their ghosts?
For Jenn, the main thing that haunts her is the vision from the beacon. So, her ghosts are protheans who died 50,000 years ago. Their memories, their emotions, etc she's almost always thinking about the vision and how to destroy the Reapers. it quite literally does haunt her bc it rarely ever stops talking to her.
Saren definitely haunts her. They're very similar initially, and then you throw in the Reapers and they get even closer. There's a lot of parallels between them so Saren still kinda haunts her narrative even though he dies. Something about how she helped him get freedom in the end, but there's no freedom for her. Not truly, not even in death.
Ashley would haunt her too, reminding her that these are the prices she's gonna have to pay to kill the Reapers. And ultimately, she can pay them as we see that in game. Doesn't make it any better.
While the vision doesn't get any better, it gets easier to deal with the longer she has it. She has ways to keep herself grounded in the present, and how to remind herself that the people of today matter just as much as the protheans from before.

WIP Masterlist
... because at this point I have enough running projects I should probably make a proper list instead of just the one post for ExDiff, huh?
Hiiiii!! It's-a me, NoisyNoiverns, your friendly neighborhood niche Mass Effect author, most famous as "that one dude who built the entire Desolas/Abrudas tag from the ground up" and the turian councilor's defense attorney who made up an OC for his wife and... also the entire clan, and then accidentally convinced some people she's canon, oops? I've got multiple longfics and series going now, so I figured I should put together a proper list, lol.
Current Longfics
In the Land of Giants: Fic 3 of 10 in Exponential Differentiation, "ItLoG" for short. With Hislop dead and Terra Nova safe, Shepard and Nihlus continue the hunt for Cerberus. A friend's disappearance and a clue from a mysterious message both point them towards Omega, where they encounter a surprising new ally... who seems to know more than she's letting on. [AO3]
The Weight of Memory: Companion novella to ItLoG. While Shepard and Nihlus gallivant off to Terminus, Saren returns home to Palaven to rest, recover, and get used to his new leg as he adjusts to retirement. But the galaxy isn't done with the Arterius clan, and their problems are getting too big to hide from... [AO3]
Make Less the Depth of Grief: After the fall of the Destiny Ascension in the Battle of the Citadel, the galaxy is in shambles, and the hunt is on for Alexander Shepard. In order to find him, Ashley Williams consents to be interviewed about her time on the Normandy. But the more she talks, the less sure of her answers she feels... [AO3]
In Retrograde: When a rescue mission goes horribly awry, turian soldier Axilus Madelivio and quarian Pilgrim Thie'Haasn nar Olyna are thrown together, their fates inexorably intertwined by the biotic explosion Thie set off to save their lives. Now Axilus's latent biotics have been activated, and Thie's Pilgrimage has been thrown wildly off track. In order to escape Axilus's impending transfer to the Cabals and earn Thie's place in quarian society, the two of them are going to have to work together - for better or for worse. [AO3]
Sentiment and Reason: Fic 2 of the Dead Parents Club Murder Mysteries. A visit to an old friend of the Arterius brothers goes awry when the friend in question is found dead in his own home, and Special Tactics are asked to investigate. The problem? Saren is too recognizable, and the late general's neighbors aren't talking. It's up to Avitus Rix and Macen Barro, posing as newlyweds, to infiltrate the neighborhood and find the killer - while coming to terms with their own old rivalry and new feelings. [AO3]
Overarching Series
Exponential Differentiation: No-Reapers AU, DMAB nonbinary Shepard. "ExDiff" for short. After a mysterious all-human team attack Eden Prime and destroy the Prothean beacon found there, Shepard sets out on a grand adventure to hunt them down - and gets in so much deeper than they ever thought possible, uncovering a massive terrorist organization and facing impending war with the Hegemony. Nihlus and Saren join the crew, as well as several OCs including additional Normandy crew, new Spectres, and the batarian Resistance. Also a lot of worldbuilding for alien cultures, especially turians and batarians. Primary ships are Kryterius, Desabrudas, Garrus/OC, and Shepard/Jack.
Series on AO3
Detailed masterpost
Completed: Broken Mirror [x], Blood in the Water [x], Where the Wind Rests [x]
Currently In Progress: In the Land of Giants [x], The Weight of Memory [x]
Upcoming: Belly of the Beast, Straight On Til Morning, Towards Peace, The Distance Between Us, A Most Dangerous Game, Entwined, Jack Harper Must Die, Once and For All
Uneasy Lies the Head: Also referred to as "Bad End" for short. Canon divergent, male Shepard, past mShenko. The Destiny Ascension was left to die, and now the rest of the galaxy is paying the price. While Shepard is hunted down for high treason and terrorism, everyone else has to pick up the pieces he left behind and try to move on. The Normandy crew and the Alliance are insisting it was a necessary sacrifice, but was it really? Examines the consequences of Shepard's actions, both for himself and for the galaxy at large.
Series on AO3
Currently In Progress: Make Less the Depth of Grief [x]
Upcoming: Come What Come May, But a Walking Shadow, A Necessary End
Dead Parents Club Murder Mysteries: Exactly what it says on the tin. Series of mission fics featuring Saren, Nihlus, and Avitus, with occasional guest Macen, and other friends such as primarchs, Councilor Sparatus and his wife Aediteia, and various canon characters loosely associated with the trio (say hi, Benezia and Hannah!). Main pairings are Kryterius and Barrix. No-Reapers AU for ease of timeline sorting and not having to factor in indoctrination or Andromeda, because I don't want to.
Series on AO3
Completed: To Catch a Rabbit [x]
Currently In Progress: Sentiment and Reason [x]
Upcoming: Through the Bars, An Immodest Silence, untitled Spirian + Quentilea guest star
Celestial Interference: OC-centric series following Axilus Madelivio and Thie'Haasn nar Olyna as their lives are thrown wildly off-course and inexorably twined together. Mostly against their wills. Axilus wanted to be a historian, dammit. Co-written with xMidnightSun. Rewrite of the "Rise & Reign" series, ten years of writing skill improvement and so much character development later.
Currently In Progress: In Retrograde [x]
Upcoming: Slingshot Trajectory, Extraorbital, Perigee/Apogee

4 and 7 for Aeden? (Did I spell that right? Sorry if I didn't!)
no worries! Thank you for the ask! It's Aedan, for the spelling in Dragon Age Origins :D
4. What appears in your oc's darkest nightmares-
Well, Aedan doesn't normally remember her dreams; until the beacon, she almost never does. After, it's the destruction of the protheans, with the occasional flash of someone/something she recognizes in the midst of it. But very, very occasionally she *does* recall a dream of her own and it's just her, slightly left of her own elbow in the Reds again doing the things she did on her own back in the day when she was 10 and 14 and after she wakes up in 2- she watches as her skin flakes off to reveal all the circuitry and rot underneath. Those are very cold days, after, when she wakes up from that dream.
7. How far would your oc go to get what they want?
Aedan doesn't want things. Not for...a long time
After Eden Prime and talking to Harbinger, after she understands what's at stake she wants the end of the reapers and the threat of them and she's quite honestly willing to do whatever it takes, kill who she has to, wipe out anyone in her way and she'd be sad about it if it was someone important to her but...if it saves, in general, humanity and the other races...even if it's *just* enough and they're right at the edge, she'd do it. Destroy, even if it's the worst version starkid intimates it might be, is worth the cost.
But, that's big picture. Personally, after she leaves the Reds, she doesn't want things like home or safety or friends or a coffee cup of her own until the very end, when Kaidan tells her he gets that he can't be the most important thing in her life and she realizes she'd walk away from the fight if it meant he was okay.
But she loves him because he'd never be okay walking away from everyone else. And that makes it okay for her to do whatever it takes.

Cassandra Grace Kryik-Shepard
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So I realized that I never did a character sheet of sorts for my main Shepard oc. Or if I did its probably horribly out of date. I'm using @theshepcollective's layout for this
Backstory -Colonist Background- Sole Survivor of Akuze. Class - Soldier [pre alchera], Vanguard [Post Alchera] Alignment - 80% Paragon Lover(s).- Tela Vasir [former]; Kaidan Alenko and Garrus Vakarian; Best Friend(s)- Tali, Macen Barro, Drack Nackmor, the giant turian family that she was adopted into, Selena.
~~
Cassandra was born on Mindoir on April 11th, 2154. She grew up with her mother, step-father and an older half-brother until the Batarians raided Mindoir on her 15th Birthday and her biotics manifested. Fortunately for her, that day the spectres Nihlus Kryik and Saren Arterius were on Mindoir looking to investigate a prothean ruin that Cassandra was already headed towards to hide in. A misunderstanding lead to her biotically throwing the pair of Spectres into a nearby river when they tried to make sure she was okay after she fell out of a tree she had been hiding in. She helped them find the ruin they were looking for and in exchange they helped her escape the slaver raid, unable to save any of her friends and family. Once they got her away from the Slavers, they sent her to the Alliance Embassy on the Citadel so that she could find any remaining family she had that wasn't on the colony when it was attacked. The only family that could be found was her grandmother on Earth so Cassandra was sent to live with her in London. Within a month however, her step-grandfather would discover she was a biotic and kick her out onto the streets to fend for herself. Before long, she ended up on the Citadel working for the crime lord Fist just to survive since she was too young to enlist in the Alliance and there were very few legal jobs available to a human biotic. After a little less than a year of working for Fist to survive, she managed to escape that life when Nihlus adopted her after discovering that she was being wrongly accused of her friends murder on the condition that she stay out of trouble with with Citadel Security. Her official records list her as "Shepard" until the Collector Base when she ditches the name Shepard all together because in addition to Human-turian relations still being tense, Nihlus was worried that if her being his daughter was public knowledge then it would make her a target for anyone who wanted to hurt her to get in the way of his Spectre work. Saren agreed to help train Cassandra to use her biotics after learning about an incident in which she defenestrated Hackett and Anderson. She only enlisted in the Alliance at 18 because that was the only place she could work as a human biotic. After she goes to Nihlus for moral support after Akuze [before the alliance officially knows what thresher maws are], some poorly chosen words from Nihlus, she cut off contact with him and left the Alliance to work for C-Sec, only to return to the Alliance when Hackett offered her an N7 recommendation to the villa where after defenestrating Kai Leng, she gained a reputation for throwing people that tried to threaten her. Alec Ryder was her mentor ion N7 school. She's a soldier up until Alchera when she was given a overcharged amp with Project Lazarus [the records that Cerberus had been given were forged post-mortem to cast Cassandra in a better light in the event they were leaked in full to the public] when she accidentally killed Miranda and Jacob and switches to Vanguard, horrified at what she had been turned into. When she got to the Citadel post-Alchera the only people she would talk to were Nihlus, Lexi, Macen and Tela'Vasir. She didn't believe in the Reapers until Virmire and was pissed when Anderson made her mention the visions in the reports because she knew they would make her seem crazy. She is in a throuple with Garrus and Kaidan. After Alchera she makes an agreement with the Council to spy on Cerberus and because Alchera was to be her last mission in the Alliance, she spends her house arrest on the Citadel since only the Council had jurisdiction over her as a Spectre. Another Spectre was sent to the Bahak System to clean up the Alliance's mess. Cassandra also kills Balak as revenge since he personally killed her parents during the raid.

10 lines meme!
I saw this tag game on my dash and I found it so fun that I decided to give it a try without waiting to be tagged!
10 first lines from my most recent AO3 fics!
Monsters Like Us: BG3, Ketheric Thorm/named redeemed Durge OC, 2,284 words, mostly angst with hints of villain redemption, ending with a first kiss. Her voice a thunderstorm, her moon-white anger adding more and more inches by the second to her height, her shoulders, and her bristling wingspan, Aylin insists, again and again, that he should be dead.
Remembrance of Skin: ME, Javik/Shepard (implied to be my Shepard OC, but not outright named so you can abstract yourself from that if you are so inclined), 435 words, little vignette centered around Prothean telepathy and Shepard's identity crisis. Underneath his touch, the Commander's body comes alive.
A Good Thing: DA, Gereon Alexius/Josephine Montilyet, 2,471 words, relationship progression from enemies, to cautious conversation partners with a shared interest in politics and disgust for local weather, to almost-friends, to ??????? question mark??? Clipboard in hand, expression focused and sharply businesslike, she enters the undercroft of Haven’s Chantry without warning.
Completed: Return to Zevlor: BG3, Zevlor/named Tav OC, 3,436 words, first smexytime overlaid with good old emotional constipation. It happens just as Zevlor dismisses his scout — the goblins are still out there, she says, in a thin, tired voice; more and more raiding parties fanning out into the wilds from the old temple that devoured Halsin.
Wrong Choices: BG3, Zevlor/named Tav OC (same as above), 3,206 words, character study for Tav mostly, plus dancing around feelings while tending wounds. The ram-horned girl stares, sweat swelling into glinting beads on her crimson skin — with all that effort of trying to stand up, to use the mighty owlbear strength the old biddy's potion has given her.
Laulu Casts Disguise Self: BG3, Gale/named Tav OC, 1,907 words, pre-relationship, establishing some backstory for Tav that makes her and Gale more connected than they realize. The crowd has been growing restless.
Prayer of Healing: BG3, Zevlor/named Tav OC (a different one, would you believe it!), 2,446 words, lots of sad old Tiefling angst ending with Tav taking him along under protection from the Absolute. What remains of the cultists, has been cleaned up by now.
Nature: BG3, Zevlor/named Tav OC, 3,368 words, first time at the Tiefling party. Alfira's fingers dance across her lute strings, their soft glide punctuated by vigorous, gleeful pinches.
Eye to Eye: BG3, Zevlor/named Tav OC, 1,704 words, little heart-to-heart moment between a sad old Tiefling and an awkward Tav. "Once again," Niamh says. "I apologize."
Velvet Touch: DA, Chancellor Roderick/named Inquisitor OC, 3,101 words, a strained reunion/confrontation between the stuffy old Chancellor and the scandalous Herald of Andraste, who used to be his sweetheart decades ago, when he was still a lay brother at the Chantry; mostly Roderick writhing in the clutches of Fantasy Catholic Guilt and sexual repression. When Seeker Cassandra towered over him, a pillar of metal and muscle, the word "clerk" falling off her scowling lips like the worst insult on the Maker's earth, Roderick tried his utmost to stand his ground.
(I love how the first and last of these fics both start with the male POV character being yelled at by a powerful woman).

ALL OF THE IVY. also. ALL OF THE BIRCH. ask meme be UPON YE
winter greenery oc questions
IVY
1. Has your OC ever been unfaithful in a relationship? Could they ever be tempted by the physical charms of another? Or have they ever been surprised by how little they are tempted by others, at least once they embraced their current lover?
The Great Family are a famously non-monogamous bunch. Even though most of them are married and have had children with their spouses, they still take on lovers or engage in relationships that both further their plans and for fun. (Some of these unions have resulted in children that become integrated into the family.) So they don’t necessarily see it as being unfaithful, especially if their spouse doesn’t object to the person they have their eyes on.
That being said, the Emperor and Nyx have literally been together since the beginning of the universe. But 8 million years ago, during the Late Miocene epoch, the Emperor entered her deep sleep in the Black Palace and the Great Family began their work to prepare the Milky Way for when she inherited the Reapers. 8 million years is a long time to wait. Honestly, the Great Family would have been surprised if either the Emperor or Nyx didn’t seek someone out for companionship during the time they were apart.
The only person the Emperor deeply desires is Nyx, but she did romance Liara during her time as Shepard. Liara was able to glimpse at the Emperor-as-Shepard's true nature when she entered the her mind to help decipher Prothean Beacon's vision from Eden Prime. Liara's scientific curiosity became affection, and then affection became eternal devotion to her and the Great Family. The Emperor genuinely cares about Liara and is thankful for her friendship and companionship. She is glad to have chosen a remarkable person to spent time with, to ease the pangs of loneliness and constant pain she was in.
Liara always knew that she was not the one for the Emperor. After all, she had seen into her mind and knew that at the end of this journey, the Emperor would be reunited with Nyx, the one she truly loves. But she is glad that she is still part of the Emperor’s life as the Shadow Broker, as a friend, and as a lover to both the Emperor and Nyx. (She first met Nyx in person on Alchera, when she went to retrieve the Emperor-as-Shepard’s body. Nyx was holding onto her, wrapped her body in the Black Shawl, keeping her safe on this empty, cold planet. When Liara eventually took Shepard's body from Nyx, the goddess made the asari promise her that she would keep her beloved safe and then used her powers to conceal them from the galaxy.) That being said, Liara is by no means the only person the Emperor and Nyx both have affections for. The list is not very long, but it is a cherished collection of people who's love and company they like to enjoy together.
2. What inspires loyalty in your OC? Will they follow someone purely based upon duty or rank? Or are there certain qualities towards which they are drawn? Or perhaps there are ways by which another person must prove themselves before earning their loyalty?
The only ones that the Emperor is truly loyal to are the Great Family, Nyx, their loves, her children, the old crew of the Normandy, and the strange, sentient buildings (the Black Palace, the Yellow Palace, the Ziggurat, the Oldest House, the Oceanview Motel). The Reapers are an extension of her body and consciousness, so by default they are loyal to her in the way a healthy heart is loyal to the body it's in. Harbinger is her flagship, her eyes, her emissary, shaped in the image of her soul; it is loyal to her because it is the Emperor and the Emperor is Harbinger.
Even the Board, which she is a member of, hasn’t quite earned her entire loyalty. She’s stayed as a member because she is loyal to the Oldest House and cares about its well being. It’s the main reason why she hated Trench in the end, because he let the Hiss in and caused the Oldest House to become sick. It is also the reason why she is so hard on Jesse Faden. She knows Jesse has the potential to be a much better director than Trench.
Respect is probably the best thing the Emperor can offer to those outside of her inner circle of family and old friends. She respects those who maintain their humanity, their human essence, in an age where the very definition of “humanity” is constantly changing. She respects those who serve their communities, who try to make their worlds better places. She respects the people who dedicate their lives to scholarship, artistry, and creativity. She respects the private who has better ideas than the general, the low-level bureaucrat who knows how to directly help people, the Spectre that refuses a bad order from their Councilor. She respects people who try to live their lives to the best of their abilities, the people who make history quietly.
3. Has another person ever offered to leave their spouse or lover for your OC? What was it about them that this person found so hard to resist? How did they feel about it at the time?
Persephone’s never offered to leave Hades, but I think it’s pretty clear that she has a Thing for tall, powerful goths.
Tumblr media
She just thinks they’re neat.
Anyway, the Emperor wanted to thank Persephone for providing Nyx with companionship during the time of her deep sleep. So both she and Nyx took her to bed and properly showed her their appreciation for her love. Besides, having the affections of both the Great Lord of Extinction and the Eternal Night have plenty of other benefits like protection and invitations to events the Great Family puts on. The Queen of the Underworld has a lot of love in her heart for multiple people, a trait that clearly got passed down to Zagreus (and hopefully Melinoe). At this point, I don’t think Hades minds. It’s pretty clear that he’s comfortable with his wife being attracted to others.
Much like Liara, her attraction to the Emperor was at first curiosity, informed by Nyx’s descriptions of her. For as long as she’s known Nyx, she’s known that the Night has a beloved, waiting to awaken from a deep sleep. She could tell when her mind was elsewhere, but that never bothered her. Nyx would tell her about the Black Palace, about what the Emperor looks like; she would tell her about the Great Family, about how they care for her. (Like the times when they sent their midwives to help her when she had her children on her own. They always did things to remind Nyx that they would always be there for her.) Persephone was enthralled by Nyx's stories.
Then she met the Emperor in person and was immediately attracted to her. It wasn’t just the Emperor’s physical attributes like her size or even her appearance. The Emperor loves Nyx; she worships her, she respects her power and independence, she is protective and caring, she is not shy about showing her affections. More importantly, they trust each other as people and as spouses. Persephone thinks that's incredibly romantic. She's happy that Nyx is happy.
Being on the receiving end of Night and Extinction's affections is always very nice.
4. Does your OC feel any abiding connection to their place of birth? Has this ever been challenged by conflicting loyalties? How are they viewed by those currently living in their society of origin?
The Emperor is extremely protective of The Black Palace in the Eridanus Supervoid. It's her sanctuary, her cradle, the place that houses her true form. It is the place where she and Nyx first met, where they first kissed, where they first made love. The Black Palace will always exist, it is the true throne of the Emperor.
At the same time, the Emperor also has a deep fondness for Chicago. It's the reason why she still continues to live there, why she placed the Ziggurat there. (It might also have something to do with the city being next to Lake Michigan. Wonder if all these sentient buildings being near lakes/bodies of water is important.) She has very fond memories of her childhood in the city, she wants to make sure her children have the same experiences and connection to a place, its history, and its culture.
Chicago is proud to be the birthplace and home of the Reaper Emperor. After her ascension, a fifth red star was added to the city's flag to represent her. The six points on the star refer to: the city's status as her birthplace, the Ziggurat, the Reapers, Earth, humanity, and evolution.
5. Does your OC remain steadfastly loyal to those who have helped them on their journey? Or are they quick to dispense with those who are no longer of use to them?
When the Emperor was Shepard, she used to mostly think that Normandy and the crew she acquired were merely a means to an end. She needed them in order for her to reach her goals in order for her to finally become the Reaper Emperor. When she was younger (like around the time of ME1 younger), she was planning on leaving them as soon as she shed her human body and inherited the Reapers. But as she got older and by the time the war ended, they became her dear friends. They may not entirely understand what she is (with exception of Liara and Miranda, they knew from the beginning) or still feel hurt and angry that they were used in some way, but she’s still Shepard to them.
While she isn’t heavily involved in all of their lives, she tries to remain available for them and their descendants if they need her. Of her old crew, the ones she remained most involved with were:
Liara. (Reasons stated in one of the above questions.)
Miranda. (Who was given Cerberus and made its head. She also became a lover to both the Emperor and Nyx.)
Garrus. (Becomes the Primarch, is personally vouched for by the Emperor to the Turian Hierarchy.)
Ashley. (Spectre, promoted to Commander, and made Commanding Officer of the Normandy SR-2.)
Joker and EDI. (Still the pilot and AI of the Normandy. The Emperor also gets dozens of messages a day from EDI. Some of them are updates, some of them are just questions.)
Tali. (Gets her dream house built on Rannoch.)
Jack. (Remained a teacher at the Grissom Academy and likes to use her “I served with the Emperor when she was Shepard and we’re still totally friends” influence to bypass school admin to get new equipment/supplies. Still deeply conflicted about the whole Reaper Emperor thing, but it does have its perks.)
Samara. (Retires, spends most of her time looking after her remaining daughter, Falere. The Emperor visits occasionally.)
Wrex. (Personally asks the Emperor to bless the first child he has with Bakara on Tuchanka.)
Of the people who were not part of the Normandy, but still remained important to her:
The Rachni Queen. (Probably the deepest friendship she made next to Liara and Miranda. The Rachni Queen knew what the Emperor-as-Shepard was and has remained grateful for all the time she never gave up on her. It is believed that the Rachni are in tune with the Ziggurat. The main Rachni Hive and the Xenomorph Hive found ways to connect to one another, forming a unique relationship. Sometimes, the Rachni Queen can be seen in the lower levels of the Ziggurat.)
Aria T’Loak. (Aria is at first, like many, deeply conflicted about the Emperor. But what Aria values most of all is loyalty, respect, and competence. The Emperor-as-Shepard has always respected her, it is the reason why she did not question Aria’s actions or decisions when taking back Omega. After the war, Aria requested that there be no Reapers in Omega air-space. She didn't want them hovering around her station. The Emperor agreed. While there may be Reaper agents on the station, they make sure not to cause trouble for Aria and willingly hand over information they believe she may find useful. The Emperor promised that Aria would always be in power on Omega.)
The Emperor is there with them until the end, even those who she did not remain super close to after her ascension. She is there when they are old, when they are about to pass, making sure they are not in pain, comforting them, and letting them look at her face one last time. She respects that they do not want to be Harvested and attends each of their funerals. 600 years later, there are only a few who remain and the Emperor watches as their children and descendants grow to fulfill their potentials, add to their legacies, keep the spark of their ancestors alive. The Emperor is not sad when her friends pass, but the Milky Way feels a little emptier without them.
BIRCH
1. Has your OC ever experienced something that changed them irrevocably? If so, then how do they view the person they were before?
There were a few.
2172 CE. The cutting of her hair at the age of 18. The end of childhood. When she was accepted into the Alliance academy at Annapolis, she had to cut her long hair. The Great Family all gathered around her to watch as Lilith cut the Emperor-as-Shepard’s hair to a length acceptable within Alliance regulations. This was also the beginning of her hunger, as she was longer allowed to eat stars until her transformation was complete.
2176 CE. The Skyllian Blitz. The beginning of her pain and the decay of her body. She comes back with a hero with a body broken by shrapnel, gored by falling ship parts, her jaw completely burned. While the Alliance sorted out the situation and prepared her N7 recommendation, she was sent home to recover. As Lilith helped lower her into a special healing bath, the Emperor-as-Shepard cried from the agony and called Lilith "mother" for the first time.
2183 CE. The devouring of Saren. The first taste of her inheritance, of Azathoth’s gift to her, billions of years in the making. The Reapers are hers, they were made just for her, only for her. They were made for her to fulfill her duty as Extinction. It was the first time she felt full in years, she felt her great relative's love for her. After she ingested all that was left of Sovereign, Azathoth parted the veil that separated it from everything. It entered her dreams, blessing her with gentle kisses on her cheeks, on her forehead, in the space between her eyes. You were born for this, Precious Emperor, it told her. We are waiting for you.
2185 CE. The Lazarus Project. death, rebirth. She carved a timeline of the universe, of every extinction event onto her face. A map of her pain, a map of her hunger, a map of the end of everything. Organics were not meant to look upon the face of the Emperor. Thou shalt not gaze upon the Mouth of God.
2189 CE. The Crucible. The end of Shepard, the beginning of the Reaper Emperor. Nyarlathotep placed behind her head a crown made from the event horizons of primordial black holes. She and Nyx married underneath a chuppah woven since the beginning of the universe. The Emperor wept, overwhelmed with pure joy: the joy of being in her own bodies, the joy of no longer being in pain, the joy of being wedded to her beloved, the joy of being with her family. Welcome home, Precious Emperor.
Even though the Emperor was glad to be rid of her human body, the essence of humanity continues to linger inside her. She may no longer be in pain or have to suffer a vessel she abhorred, but she appreciates having been amongst organic life, even if only for a brief moment. That time has informed her about how to use the Reapers to their fullest potential, adjusting and optimizing the Harvest. In the past, she was just an entity waiting for her inheritance. Now she is someone with a history, experience, and a fuller understanding of organic life. Granted she still operates in ways that are incomprehensible to organics, but she understands them more. She watches them grow and evolve, observing and waiting for the right time to harvest them.
2. Does your OC believe that sometimes a person needs to hit rock bottom before they can begin to rebuild their life? Has this ever been their personal experience? Or would they rather spare someone suffering, even if it meant they failed to learn from their mistakes over and over again?
Not necessarily. She’s seen people who have turned themselves around just before they reach the bottom. Her history and trajectory as Shepard was so unique and wildly different from any normal human/organic that she doesn't really apply her own experience to some universal belief about how people should live their lives.
But like, you should learn from your mistakes. You don't need the Emperor to tell you that, man.
3. Does your OC recover quickly from injuries? Or has it got harder for them to keep bouncing back as they’ve got older? If so, is this something they would ever admit?
Early on in her military career, she could recover from pretty bad injuries fairly quickly. The worst was the Skyllian Blitz, which was the start of the intense pain that she never recovered from until her ascension. (Not even the Lazarus Project could deal with the pain, simply because of the nature of her body as a temporary human vessel.) As she got older and during the war, recovery slowed down because of the amount of stress she was under and the fact that her body was barely holding on, to the point where even Dr. Chakwas had to consult Nyarlathotep for help. When she reached the Crucible, she was glad to finally be rid of her human body.
Now in her Reaper Emperor form, she rarely if ever gets injured. Both her biomechanical body and her tentacles are incredibly sturdy, it's very hard to inflict any kind of damage or breakage to them. But if she were to get injured, the xenomorphs would help patch her up. The resin they produce is the medium through which her body can rebuild itself if need be. Tfw you have to 3D print your mom back together. But like I said, this rarely happens.
4. Has your OC ever made a heroic or unexpected comeback from a dire situation? What helped them to do so?
I would say that surviving going through the Omega-4 Relay and completing the Suicide Mission with no one dying should count as a pretty amazing comeback. Also coming back alive alone after escaping Project Base, but not before slamming the asteroid into the Alpha Relay. It got rebuilt again, elsewhere. Also oops, war crimes.
5. Has your OC ever been part of a wider cultural or spiritual renaissance? Perhaps following the defeat of an occupying force? Or the rediscovery of long-lost wisdom? Or even a reinterpretation of existing traditions?
Her ascension as the Reaper Emperor has irrevocably changed the entirety of the Milky Way. People still remain afraid of the Reapers, but they have also become a fact of life. They are everywhere, the Emperor always watching, always listening, everywhere all at once. The Harvest is a perpetual one, never ending, slow and steady for 50,000 years until the next one that devours entire species and civilizations. 600 years later, there are entire generations that only know the Reapers and the Reaper Emperor.
The Emperor's favoritism towards Earth has led to some intense changes on the human homeworld. More and more humans on Earth are blurring the line between organic and machine. Some may only do very limited augmentation, but many others have replaced their entire bodies in order to transcend human flesh. Some even agree to undergo high-level Indoctrination in order to serve the Emperor and the Reapers.
Perhaps the biggest development is the veneration of Ardi and Lucy. Humans on Earth will make pilgrimages to Ethiopia, to the place where they are kept, leaving offerings and prayers in every language and religion. Humans on Earth believe that doing so allows them to honor human evolution and remain in touch with their humanity. Once a year, the Emperor and her children will visit in person to leave stones and flowers at the shrine to Ardi and Lucy. (Stones for eternity, flowers for beauty.)
The first time the Emperor visited, the keepers opened up the protective glass and she removed her veil to carefully place two kisses next to their bones, next to the areas where their cheeks would be. Gentle blessings for the first mothers of humanity, because they were truly marvelous and special.

Rakhana was not a barren world, the drell were not "saved" by the hanar, and the war on Rakhana was caused by hanar intervention.
DISCLAIMER: This is just headcanon. I am not intending to piss on anyone else's headcanons or ocs. These are my thoughts after revisiting the codex and comparing it to what Thane tells us.
"Our homeworld had few resources."
Rakhana is also said to have been "bursting at a population of 11 billion." For context, Earth has a population of 8 billion. If we assume Rakhana was a relatively earth-sized planet, their planet must have been fertile and resource-rich enough to support an earth-sized population.
That doesn't mean the drell weren't heading toward resource catastrophe. With their eidetic memory it's entirely likely they experienced a massive industrial boom that led to the acidification of their oceans and failed agriculture before they realized the consequences of their expansion. But to start with, they were likely living on a garden world with a hot, arid climate. I imagine Rakhana's typical geography was deserts and jungles.
They were headed toward a resource crisis, why wouldn't they need saving?
If aliens showed up to earth tomorrow and said they were going to save us from climate change, would you go with them? I imagine you'd have to be a special kind of desperate to trust them. The drell apparently though the same.
The codex says the hanar evacuated a little under 400,000 drell.
At a population of 11 billion, that means only 0.0036% of drell actually emigrated to Kahje.
Whether Rakhana was truly doomed to ruin or not, very few drell were keen to live on Kahje.
As a side note - It's also possible that the hanar simply didn't possess a fleet of ships large enough to evacuate more drell. That's why this is a headcanon post lol
How did the hanar cause the war on Rakhana?
I'm entering the realm of pure speculation here. I don't think the hanar even visited Rakhana for the benefit of the drell in the first place. I think they landed there because they detected artifacts of the "Enkindlers" (the protheans). The presence of prothean artifacts on Rakhana is not mentioned anywhere that I could find - I'm just making shit up at this point.
On surface level, first contact would have been an enormous and terrifying event for the drell. Literal aliens landed on their planet and even if the hanar opened with "we come in peace," they undoubtedly had greater technology capable of forcibly enacting their will on the drell.
To put it simply, I believe that hanar intervention was the straw that broke the camel's back. Nations that were already strained by Rakhana's overpopulation fought over how to respond to hanar visitors for years - the hanar evacuation of the drell is said to have lasted a decade. In the end, I believe the hanar accelerated the proverbial drell "doomsday clock" rather than delaying it.
Why does Thane insist the compact is not slavery?
Because he was taken from his parents at the age of six and fed revisionist history in an assassin training camp.
I would also like to point out that the codex says the drell were evacuated 200 ago, but Thane tells us it was "a century ago." This is such a glaring inconsistency that I'm inclined to believe it's a developer oversight. But it does make me wonder - how much of what we know of Rakhana is true?
TLDR the hanar are punks and I'm mad.

Fandom: Mass Effect Rating: Mature Warnings: Graphic Depictions of Violence, Major Character Death, Minor Character Death, Politics Relationship(s): Lexi T’Perro/OC (Thaia Kallistrate), Benezia/Aethyta, Benezia/Aethyta/Shiala Characters: Lexi T’Perro, Thaia Kallistrate (OC), Aria T’Loak, Matriarch Benezia, Suvi Anwar, Nakmor Drack, Vetra Nyx, Cora Harper, Matriarch Aethyta, Shiala Additional Tags: Alternate Universe, Enemies to Lovers, Fake Dating, Slowburn, Original Characters Summary: 55,000 years ago, the protheans won a Pyrrhic victory over the reapers.
Chapter 1: High Salinity
It was bugging the ever-loving fuck out of her. The dossier Thaia and the rest of her squad had been given indicated that their target, Lexi T’Perro, was a pirate. But Thaia had met a lot of pirates over her centuries of service to the Empire, and Lexi wasn’t anything like any of them. Something was off. And it bugged the fuck out of her. After getting the attention of her squadmates, Thaia gestured toward the smallish cell holding their irate captive. “I’m telling you, she doesn’t look like a pirate.” “Why’s that?” asked Paion, their sniper. She was a Specialist Third Class a couple centuries younger than Thaia, but still had the full set of commando face tattoos like everyone else. Hers were red where Thaia’s were white—the only element of the mandatory tattoos that was theirs to pick. “Pirates don’t usually wear lab coats, for one,” Thaia said. Lexi finally spoke up for the first time since they’d reached the prefab base. “I’m wearing a lab coat because I’m a physician. Tell me, do you each possess one lonely brain cell? Or do you share a single cell between the three of you?” Lovely as Lexi’s voice was, the things she said hurt more than getting fucking shot. “Also,” Thaia said, “pirates usually eviscerate people with sharp knives, not sharp words.” “I’m good with a scalpel. Would you care for a demonstration?” Lexi asked.

Note:
This started with an “enemies to lovers” prompt from@skyllianhamster for Thaia and Lexi. Right after came a ton of brainstorming for a situation that would have these two start as Actual Enemies, which is how this AU was born. Initially, it was supposed to be more Mirror Universe like, but I discovered that the constant dark anxiety of getting backstabbed (often literally) that is the atmosphere of a mirror universe was too much for me to handle. Trust doesn’t really exist there, and I wanted an alternate universe where there could be trust and love that wasn’t practically guaranteed to be duplicitous. Well, once the work’s put in on both sides. So the asari are an Evil Empire, but we aren’t talking something like Star Trek’s Mirror Universe. More like adjacent to it. Some characters are still fundamentally themselves despite changes of circumstance or at first glance (and second or third, in some cases) appearing different from how we know them in whatever canons they exist. Others are absolutely the complete opposite of who they would be in other stories. Matriarch Benezia, Liara, and Skyham’s OC Fejla Na’vis in particular. As in, canon Fejla would burst into tears if she stepped on a bug, which, well. Not at all so much here. This fic was also supposed to be a one shot and so I’d started it on a writing app on my phone. Even though it grew beyond a one shot, its first draft was still exclusively written on my phone, writing time on my laptop being reserved for my main fic.
Anyway, on re-reading it, I figured it’s time to share.
Benezia, Aethya, and Shiala draw from the Trinity (@dr-jekyl and @theivorytowercrumbles) versions of themselves—and then deviate toward mirror universe-type tendencies. Musahir Ordaca and Farizah T’Soni belong to @theivorytowercrumbles, Fejla Na’vis and Nefraellynx T’Sein to@skyllianhamster. While Fejla is the opposite of herself, Nef is more “like she always is, except now she’s trustworthy.” In another AU, Nef once sold an unwitting Thaia a ship she’d stolen from the leader of the Blood Pack—without informing Thaia of the shuttle’s original owner—so this was quite the change.

Oc swap fact - Vireo Ryder tells everyone she didn’t bring anything from the milky way, but she did, a prothean artifact that her team gave her as a good luck present when she had to leave, it was the first artifact they found when she joined them, Jaal is the only person she ever shows it to
Aww I love that! That's really cool! Jaal must be a special person to get to know about it too. (Also, Vireo is such a cool name!)
Dove likes to collect a lot of things, but one of the things that she treasures a lot are some of her wrinkled, folded up photo booth photos she and her older brother took when they went to Fiesta Texas (an amusement park in TX) when they were younger. It was one of her favorite memories and she always keeps those photos with her (or in her journal/scrapbook.)

oc kiss week!
in which Regis puts his sights on Nyx... (Nyx Shepard canon [no-Reapers/Protheans almost won but there are remnants of Reapers], Regis as a mercenary AU)
first time really writing Nyx's POV and it's a non-canon (maybe) prompt fic. not sure if I'll do much more for this week, but this was fun :).
visuals of Nyx and Regis:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"So, you're the man my dear Alliance ended up with," he purred into the comms. Nyx made a sound in disgust, nearly muting the comm after realizing it was a private channel. Kaidan gave him an odd look, and by all means, he should tell Kaidan about the conversation. But... he didn't. Not yet. And Steven wasn't here either to actually interrogate him.
With a nod and an incline towards the back of the hideout where he knew the bathroom was, he hoped that he singled to Kaidan that he needed a bit of time alone. Kaidan, again--did his boyfriend have any other looks--gave him a concerned look, but he didn't protest. They were weathering a sandstorm in some house that Massani and Shepard had for themselves. A safe place to stay. They were upstairs, while he and Kaidan took the downstairs.
Being in unfamiliar territory has made them all on edge. Backwater terminus system planet that supposedly had some prothean tech, possibly another beacon that could shine even more light on the remaining Reapers. Their numbers were dwindling, that much Nyx knew. But their mission wouldn't be done until they get them all.
By the time he was out of earshot, the comm was dark. No one was picking up. He cursed, shaking his head and entering the bathroom to splash some water on his face. His hair was a goddamn mess, long since frizzed and unkempt, no longer in a smooth ponytail. Dark circles were deep set, and his biotics crackled underneath his skin, desperate to be released.
He couldn't wait until he was long gone and back home on Arcturus with Steven and Kaidan.
A knock sounded on the door. "Kaidan, I'm fine," he yelled back, but it wasn't Kaidan that responded with a laugh.
The door opened, revealing Shepard, in a low-cut pair of joggers and a tanktop that was definitely too large for him. He had a distinct feeling those belonged to Massani.
"Do you not believe in any goddamn privacy?" Nyx bit out, narrowing his eyebrows.
"Please, we all know you weren't doing shit in here, and you didn't lock the door. That's on you," Shepard replied, walking towards him. "No, I just wanted to talk to you."
"And what, put a claim on Alenko? He's mine, Shepard, and also Hackett's. Life intervened with your chance, and I'm sorry, but if you're here to--"
"We lost his data too," Shepard interrupted, his face surprisingly open. His stance was relaxed, and Nyx belatedly realized he wasn't here to start a fight, despite how casual he was when he barged in.
Love has made him blind, for fuck's sake.
"And?" Nyx said, crossing his arms.
"Zee's talking to Alliance," he said, sliding up to him. Nyx stepped back. "We just want to clear the air."
Nyx met his gaze. "Fine. What about?"
"When all this shit is over and you two head your pretty little asses back down to Alliance territory, we were thinkin' of following." A hint of red was on his cheeks, betraying something deeper underneath his confident tone. "Zee wants to see your mutual admiral again. I'd like to go toe-to-toe with the one biotic that beat my ass in pure power. And you... you're the unknown."
"I'd like to keep it that way."
"Do you?" Shepard leaned in, whispering in his ear. "I feel that power you are trying to hide, my friend."
"You know what has happened to those that learned of my power?" Nyx challenged, grabbing Shepard's chin. "They're dead. Be careful to not end up with them."
"And there's that Phoenix coming out," he teased, not even flinching. "Good grip. Maybe it's you I need to test my skill with."
Nyx simply raised an eyebrow. "If you want biotic power, that's all Alenko. But if you want to know what it's like to fight a veteran of the FCW, by all means, I'll offer myself up with one caveat."
"And that is?"
Nyx let go of his chin and instead pulled him in for a quick kiss, tangling his hand in his hair and letting out a muffled chuckle at Shepard's gasp of surprise, enjoying the scrape of his beard against his own. His shocked expression was a treasure, those red eyes blown with lust. Nyx took a little amusement in Kaidan's penchant for men with gene-modded eyes and faces full of piercings. "Be a bit more upfront with what you really wanted. If all you wanted to do was fuck us, then just ask."
